I know it’s for the angst and maybe it’s a thing in canon cause comic books. But if the batfamily are just human — Just straight 100% human — then they cannot hide their injuries.
A sprained ankle, once sprained, is easier to sprain. A bruised rib can turn into a fractured rib. A cut can get infected. A bruise can be hiding internal bleeding. All injuries, if ignored, can get worse.
First off. Just to clarify. The reality of the situation is that our very fun fleshy human characters just cannot be getting as hurt as frequently as they do in fics. In the comics, Bruce getting bruised ribs is a sign he is not taking care of himself and is being reckless and dangerous after Jason’s death. This might have changed in modern comics (that’s dumb. Batman doesn’t get hurt because he’s skilled and prepared. If they’ve changed that for shock or vibes, it’s stupid.) but it just can’t be true. The human body doesn’t heal that fast. There is no “magnify the sun to heal faster” tech for the batfamily. It’s one thing if Bruce used magic so they could insta-heal. But he doesn’t like magic either!
Bruised ribs and sprained ankles which seem “not that bad” in a lot of fics can keep a professional athlete from practice for weeks if not months. Let’s not even get into how it can affect a professional during the actual game/race/event.
The batfamily — who must be operating at peak physical fitness and pushing their bodies to the physical limit on top of the rigorous training/working out they do to enhance their skills — must 1) treat their bodies intelligently, 2) have some kind of rest day system so their bodies don’t shut down from the stress and 3) treat every injury seriously and timely to avoid exasperation and unnecessary healing time.
I get its comic books. I get Damian has such perfect awareness of his body he can shift his organs (ew.) to avoid being fatally stabbed. He’s still just a guy! They’re all just guys in super cool futuristic body armor and some neat gadgets.
(Side note: That body armor has gotta have some kind of kinetic dispersion system like Black Panther’s to keep the bruises minimal. Which means that body armor has to be good at stopping knives and guns from piercing the human flesh underneath. Which means that body armor cannot have any obvious flaws or weaknesses like only the cape is bulletproof and short shorts revealing the femeral artery!
(What I mean is maybe Dick and Jason had some like flesh colored armor leggings. Please let me live in delusion!)
Plus there has to be under layers. The color pattern top might be spandex or some kind of colored Kevlar-like fabric, but there must be special under garments, jock straps, compression shorts, ankle and wrist wraps. Something! Just Kevlar against bare skin would be impossible. Think of the rash! The sweat! There must be some kind of sweat-slicking layer or something that keeps you cool while you exert yourself running around a massive city like Gotham*. Otherwise they’d pass out from overheating!)
And since they’re just guys, when they get injured it is a big deal! They cannot hide their injuries, especially if they’re working with others. Injuries mean physical limitations which means your teammates have to pick up the slack. If your teammates don’t know they have to pick up the slack, not only are you endangering yourself but you are endangering your teammates.
And no matter how frustratingly emotionally constipated the bats are, no way are they choosing to risk their friends and family welfare for the sake of pride.
Think about it:
If you have mobility issues then you’re on sidewalk duty? Youre walking or motorcycle. Either way you’re off rooftops until you can safely grapple without pulling some stitches on your side or exasperating the ache in your upper back.
If you hide it and then you lose your gripe on your grapple because you have a full body flinch from pulling something and your teammates have to catch you or you die. Well that’s stupid. That’s a stupid way to die. No ego is worth that stupid death.
If you’re not sleeping which means your reaction time is sloppy** then you’re just not patrolling. There is plenty of work that doesn’t require the bats to be fighting around the city. The detective work can be done at a desk looking through camera footage, tracking down informants or victims or witnesses, or just mining the web for info. Plus paperwork, gadget maintenance, and the other fussy work that happens when you don’t have a company dedicated to maintaining your status of superhero like Ironman does.
All I’m saying is I know the cool part is the swinging and the patrolling and the fighting. Having an injury — a serious one with bone and blood — sounds cool and adds tension. Hell hiding an injury sounds like something they would do because they’re emotionally stunted idiots who don’t want to be a burden on their loved ones, right?
But they’re Bats! They’re effective, efficient, smart. They are human with human limits that can keep up with Supers and Flashes and Themyscirans. But to do that, they have to be managing their human limits intelligently.
TLDR: The BatFam cannot be getting injured that frequently or hiding injuries from teammates — the family or otherwise — without becoming massive liabilities in the field which would make their jobs nearly impossible to complete at the level of excellence they must do to keep up with the rest of the superhero community.

* By the way, Gotham is a city with a population of 10 million. For reference, NYC has 8 million people. Gotham also has enough land to have entire city blocks permanently unoccupied. Think about that! If NYC had a plot of land unoccupied, it would be built up into housing and business space immediately because space is a hot commodity in a city of 8M! How much fucking space does Gotham have!!!
** Yes you can survive without any sleep up to 30 days but that’s because by day 30 your organs shut down. Lack of sleep starts costing you as soon as 36 hours without sleep. They have to be sleeping a full 8-10 hours (or more because again they’re moving so much!) at some point to keep up. If they have insomnia then maybe they take something to go to sleep like a special bat-ambien.

Thinking about the batsuits the batfamily wears makes me think about a situation where the whole family is captured and badguys make them all strip any dangerous weapons or useful tools/gadgets they have on their person right down to their undergarments and its just so much stuff this family has hidden in places all over them. Even when they take off their armor. It's like more than a whole table full. And that still doesn't change the fact that they're no less dangerous. They just have to get creative. Imagine some newbie villian or mew villian alien thinks I'll take away all the bats toys that will make them less dangerous. Hah hah they don't realize what a laughably stupid mistake they made. That just makes them more dangerous for you. And on top of that the most of them are extremely attractive dangerous people in their undergarments. The show that would be to watch if your not currently getting you ass beat by a kid in superman boxers or wonder woman.
yessss!!
The Bats are known for their gadgets and tech, if you ask anyone in Gotham what they know about Batman they'll say "his utility belt!" other than the fact that he has two hundred kids
but its so much more than that. They are scarily capable and dangerous without any weapons- Bruce trained his body and mind long before he ever touched a weapon, and he passed that on to each one of his children
Dick grew up incredibly limber in the circus, something Bruce only encouraged, Babs learned self-defense from her police father, Jason was a street rat who learned to improvise and fight dirty, Tim is honestly just there but has a wicked fast mind and under Batman has learned it all, Cass is literally a human weapon, so is Damian, Steph is also a street rat, and Duke has his meta abilities, street abilities, and ofc they all now have Bat training.
insane combo.
and yes, they are Adonis, Greek Gods and Goddesses, 100% that face card does not decline, killing people with one look, one hair flip, one smile. all the time. Its why Bruce cannot smile as Batman.

"Devil of 11 lightnings (y/o), tech nerd and builder of enigmatic little gadgets and robots. He appears very taciturn and cold and although he loves the silence of his cave-workshop in Zolfanello City, he too had to come to Earth to conquer his missing 1% and become a 100% guardian devil."
Even the fever couldn't stop me from completing Gabi's character sheet!!! >:D
And here he is, the fourth member of the devils' gang! His passions haven't changed much from his original comic version, but I wanted to add a more practical side to his logical and calculating one!
He always carries his small creations and tools with him in a capacious, monstrous-looking bag. Gabi's look is all about functionality, in fact ‘his flea-bitten suit is like a second skin to him’, to quote Ang-Lì.
This young devil would lead a hermit's life in his cave-workshop in Zolfanello City if it weren't for his friends who, at every opportunity, go to annoy him and pull him out of his gloomy lair. Gabi in fact devotes so much of his time to his projects that he sometimes forgets to rest, in fact his face often has heavy bags under his eyes!

how much power does tech really use, compared to other shit?
my dash has been full of arguing about AI power consumption recently. so I decided to investigate a bit.
it's true, as the Ars Technica article argues, that AI is still only one fairly small part of the overall tech sector power consumption, potentially comparable to things like PC gaming. what's notable is how quickly it's grown in just a few years, and this is likely to be a limit to how much more it can scale.
I think it is reasonable to say that adding generative AI at large scale to systems that did not previously have generative AI (phones, Windows operating system etc.) will increase the energy cost. it's hard to estimate by how much. however, the bulk of AI energy use is in training, not querying. in some cases 'AI' might lead to less energy use, e.g. using an AI denoiser will reduce the energy needed to render an animated film.
the real problem being exposed is that most of us don't really have any intuition for how much energy is used for what. you can draw comparisons all sorts of ways. compare it to the total energy consumption of humanity and it may sound fairly niche; compare it to the energy used by a small country (I've seen Ireland as one example, which used about 170TWh in 2022) and it can sound huge.
but if we want to reduce the overall energy demand of our species (to slow our CO2 emissions in the short term, and accomodate the limitations of renewables in a hypothetical future), we should look at the full stack. how does AI, crypto and tech compare to other uses of energy?
here's how physicist David McKay broke down energy use per person in the UK way back in 2008 in Sustainable Energy Without The Hot Air, and his estimate of a viable renewable mix for the UK.
('Stuff' represents the embedded energy of manufactured goods not covered by the other boxes. 'Gadgets' represents the energy used by electronic devices including passive consumption by devices left on standby, and datacentres supporting them - I believe the embodied energy cost of building them falls under 'stuff' instead.)
today those numbers would probably look different - populations change, tech evolves, etc. etc., and this notably predates the massive rise in network infrastructure and computing tech that the Ars article describes. I'm sure someone's come up with a more up-to-date SEWTHA-style estimate of how energy consumption breaks down since then, but I don't have it to hand.
that said, the relative sizes of the blocks won't have changed that much. we still eat, heat our homes and fly about as much as ever; electric cars have become more popular but the fleet is still mostly petrol-powered. nothing has fundamentally changed in terms of the efficiency of most of this stuff. depending where you live, things might look a bit different - less energy on heating/cooling or more on cars for example.
how big a block would AI and crypto make on a chart like this?
per the IEA, crypto used 100-150TWh of electricity worldwide in 2022. in McKay's preferred unit of kWh/day/person, that would come to a worldwide average of just 0.04kWh/day/person. that is of course imagining that all eight billion of us use crypto, which is not true. if you looked at the total crypto-owning population, estimated to be 560 million in 2024, that comes to about 0.6kWh/day/crypto-owning person for cryptocurrency mining [2022/2024 data]. I'm sure that applies to a lot of people who just used crypto once to buy drugs or something, so the footprint of 'heavier' crypto users would be higher.
I'm actually a little surpised by this - I thought crypto was way worse. it's still orders of magnitude more demanding than other transaction systems but I'm rather relieved to see we haven't spent that much energy on the red queen race of cryptomining.
the projected energy use of AI is a bit more vague - depending on your estimate it could be higher or lower - but it would be a similar order of magnitude (around 100TWh).
SEWTHA calculated that in 2007, data centres in the USA added up to 0.4kWh/day/person. the ars article shows worldwide total data centre energy use increasing by a factor of about 7 since then; the world population has increased from just under 7 billion to nearly 8 billion. so the amount per person is probably about a sixfold increase to around 2.4kWh/day/person for data centres in the USA [extrapolated estimate based on 2007 data] - for Americans, anyway.
however, this is complicated because the proportion of people using network infrastructure worldwide has probably grown a lot since 2007, so a lot of that data centre expansion might be taking place outside the States.
as an alternative calculation, the IEA reports that in 2022, data centres accounted for 240-340 TWh, and transmitting data across the network, 260-360 TWh; in total 500-700TWh. averaged across the whole world, that comes to just 0.2 kWh/day/person for data centres and network infrastructure worldwide [2022 data] - though it probably breaks down very unequally across countries, which might account for the huge discrepancy in our estimates here! e.g. if you live in a country with fast, reliable internet where you can easily stream 4k video, you will probably account for much higher internet traffic than someone in a country where most people connect to the internet using phones over data.
overall, however we calculate it, it's still pretty small compared to the rest of the stack. AI is growing fast but worldwide energy use is around 180,000 TWh. humans use a lot of fucking energy. of course, reducing this is a multi-front battle, so we can still definitely stand to gain in tech. it's just not the main front here.
instead, the four biggest blocks by far are transportation, heating/cooling and manufacturing. if we want to make a real dent we'd need to collectively travel by car and plane a lot less, insulate our houses better, and reduce the turnover of material objects.

California became just the third state in the nation to pass a "right to repair" consumer protection law on Tuesday, following Minnesota and New York, when Governor Gavin Newsom signed SB 244. The California Right to Repair bill had originally been introduced in 2019. It passed, nearly unanimously, through the state legislature in September.
“This is a victory for consumers and the planet, and it just makes sense,” Jenn Engstrom, state director of CALPIRG, told iFixit(which was also one of SB244's co-sponsors). “Right now, we mine the planet’s precious minerals, use them to make amazing phones and other electronics, ship these products across the world, and then toss them away after just a few years’ use ... We should make stuff that lasts and be able to fix our stuff when it breaks, and now thanks to years of advocacy, Californians will finally be able to, with the Right to Repair.”
Turns out Google isn't offering seven years of replacement parts and software updates to the Pixel 8 out of the goodness of its un-beating corporate heart. The new law directly stipulates that all electronics and appliances costing $50 or more, and sold within the state after July 1, 2021 (yup, two years ago), will be covered under the legislation once it goes into effect next year, on July 1, 2024. For gear and gadgets that cost between $50 and $99, device makers will have to stock replacement parts and tools, and maintain documentation for three years. Anything over $100 in value gets covered for the full seven-year term. Companies that fail to do so will be fined $1,000 per day on the first violation, $2,000 a day for the second and $5,000 per day per violation thereafter.
There are, of course, carve outs and exceptions to the rules. No, your PS5 is not covered. Not even that new skinny one. None of the game consoles are, neither are alarm systems or heavy industrial equipment that "vitally affects the general economy of the state, the public interest, and the public welfare."
“I’m thrilled that the Governor has signed the Right to Repair Act into law," State Senator Susan Talamantes Eggman, one of the bill's co-sponsors, said. "As I’ve said all along, I’m so grateful to the advocates fueling this movement with us for the past six years, and the manufacturers that have come along to support Californians’ Right to Repair. This is a common sense bill that will help small repair shops, give choice to consumers, and protect the environment.”
The bill even received support from Apple, of all companies. The tech giant famous for its "walled garden" product ecosystem had railed against the idea when it was previously proposed in Nebraska, claiming the state would become "a mecca for hackers." However, the company changed its tune when SB 244 was being debated, writing a letter of support reportedly stating, "We support 'SB 244' because it includes requirements that protect individual users' safety and security as well as product manufacturers' intellectual property."

by the time she was in middle school , jo was basically taking care of herself . she began to trail around with the neighbors' kids , who babysat her most of the time , and following them around . they would sneak out at night to go to the races and jo would tag along , a scrawny little kid in big tees and even bigger jeans . she would watch , silently and in awe , as the racers displayed their cars for everyone to see and described their set ups . she memorized as many words as she could , going to her local library after school to check out books on cars .
at fifteen , she got a job as an apprentice at rodani wheels and began working on cars to earn herself a bit of extra cash ( when she wasn't running pockets at pool halls ) and learn as much about cars as possible . while she can fix almost anything now , she became extremely fascinated by the tech part of it all and began working on customizing cars thru computers , which made her very popular amongst up and coming racers who wanted all the new tech - y shit on their cars ( just think jesse in the fast and the furious )
she quit her job at the shop when she graduated high school and instead of going to college , which she probably should've because she was a genius with computers , she began to work on people's cars and their mods one - on - one . this allowed her to rent a nice little place in hialeah as well as pay for all her little gadgets that she loves , her very cute party outfits , and got her a black nissan 370z with a glow in the dark green 8 ball on the driver's side door ( hence the name ! )
when the nariza bois first formed , she was on board 100% . it allowed her to make a mark in a way that she felt she couldn't with the prowlers , as they already had all the best mechs and she felt she'd get lost in a sea of ‘em over there . she’s very proud to be where she is and is even more proud of what she's able to do under the hood .

Backstory:
Axel Locket was born on Coruscant to Agnes Locket, a shrewd businesswoman and owner of Locket Enterprises, a corporation that dealt in high-tech manufacturing, luxury goods, and resource trading, along with a side business of selling information to the highest bidder. His father, a mercenary at heart, had officially fought for the Republic during the Clone Wars but, like his mother, had ultimately sided with whoever offered the greatest benefit. From an early age, Axel had displayed signs of Force sensitivity, though he had never understood it. His abilities had manifested instinctively, particularly when dealing with childhood bullies who had quickly grown fearful of him. This had led to his isolation, as few had dared to approach him.
Agnes had enrolled Axel in the Imperial Academy, likely seeing it as a path to power and stability. However, during his time there, she had uncovered evidence of his Force sensitivity, something the Empire would never ignore. Understanding the danger, she had arranged to fake his death, erasing him from official records and ensuring he could disappear before the Empire claimed him as their own. After this, he would go by the name Nyx. However, his assigned Imperial handler had anticipated this move and used it to their advantage. While Axel believed he had escaped unnoticed, the Empire had secretly made him part of a sleeper agent program. Expecting he might leave, Imperial handlers had subjected him to additional conditioning, ensuring that when the time came, he could be reactivated through key phrases only known by his assigned handler. To Axel, this conditioning and the memories attached to it remained buried beneath the surface.
Axel had a complicated history with gambling. Once deeply in debt, he had since refined his skills, becoming an adept Sabacc player. Gambling had not only served as a lucrative venture but also as a cover for information gathering. Still, he had often found himself drinking to numb the pain of suppressed memories he did not understand. Among his most valuable assets had been an IG-86 assassin droid, purchased from Holowan Mechanicals through a combination of credits and blackmail. The droid had served as both an assassin and bodyguard, though Axel had employed a few additional guards for security. A restraining bolt had ensured the droid’s loyalty, though Axel had remained unaware that it had unknowingly crossed paths with his Imperial handler. Additionally, he had kept a Loth cat, which he had tamed and raised from Lothal, a rare sentimental reminder of his past.
Axel’s ultimate goal had been simple: credits. Wealth had meant freedom, and he had wanted to operate on his terms. To maintain this independence, he had relocated to the Unknown Regions, keeping himself away from both the Empire and the Rebellion, having first learned of it through winning a game against a high-ranking Imperial officer. Although it had meant he did not have many visitors, the difficult hyperspace path had kept many prying eyes away. However, visions had begun to haunt him, visions he had not understood. With basic Force abilities he had taught himself, Axel had quietly begun attempting to build a lightsaber. However, he had preferred to use his other skills since it had proven to be more difficult than he had originally believed. He had kept his connection to the Force hidden, fearing that exposure would make him a pawn once again. For a time, he had remained in the shadows, navigating the treacherous world of crime and power, hoping to stay free while unknowingly carrying a secret that could one day force him back into the Empire’s grasp.

Why Tech Enthusiasts Are Upgrading Their Phone Accessories in 2025
In 2025, the smartphone remains the defining gadget of our era, but it is the accessories that are transforming average use into supercharged experiences. From ultra-fast charging bricks and AI-powered styluses to modular camera rigs and biometric privacy cases, tech enthusiasts are embracing next-generation add-ons that go far beyond basic protection or convenience. Companies like GripLux have set the pace by demonstrating that a slim MagSafe grip can also house programmable controls, NFC shortcuts, and pass-through charging. Here’s why 2025 has become the year of the accessory upgrade and what’s driving this wave among early adopters.
Performance Parity with Flagship Hardware As smartphone chips and sensors advance, power users demand accessories that keep up. In 2025, ultra-efficient GaN (gallium nitride) chargers routinely push 100- to 140-watt output in a compact form factor, cutting full recharges to under 30 minutes. Fast-charge power banks sync with these bricks, delivering pass-through charging that fills both the bank and the phone simultaneously. Meanwhile, modular camera lenses—ranging from anamorphic cine to macro optics—tie into powerful onboard image processors, enabling up to 8K video recording with professional stabilisation. These add-ons eliminate the bottleneck that once limited true hardware potential, letting enthusiasts exploit every ounce of their phone’s performance.
Seamless Integration Through MagSafe and Beyond Magnetic attachment systems have evolved into more than a novelty. Products like GripLux’s Luxi Snap Grip Pro Edition show how a MagSafe accessory can also deliver wireless power, Bluetooth controls, and real-time telemetry. In 2025, power users look for accessories that mount instantly, draw power wirelessly, and communicate with companion apps to update firmware or adjust settings on the fly. Whether it’s hot-swapping camera lenses or snapping on a biometric privacy cover that blacks out the TrueDepth sensor, these magnetic ecosystems have become a standard for out-of-the-box compatibility and effortless modularity.
Health and Wellness Monitoring The pandemic-era resurgence in health tracking has matured into clinical-grade sensing via lightweight patches, earbuds, and cases. In 2025, adhesive health patches worn for up to a week deliver continuous ECG, hydration, and stress-hormone readings to your phone, while under-mattress sleep sensors map breathing, movement, and ambient conditions with medical accuracy. Integrated earbuds with pulse oximetry and bone-conduction transparency modes let runners stay safe in urban environments. Tech enthusiasts are upgrading accessories not just for productivity, but to gain deep insights into their physical and mental well-being.
Privacy and Security by Design As on-device AI and always-on cameras become ubiquitous, privacy-minded users are investing in hardware shutters, RFID-blocking cases, and encrypted wireless modules. Biometric privacy cases featuring electrochromic shutters over front sensors prevent unauthorized scans, while integrated RFID shields protect car keys and credit cards in MagSafe wallets. Advanced USB-C hubs now include hardware-level isolation for network ports and secure enclave dongles to store sensitive keys. In 2025, securing one’s data and identity has become a core reason for upgrading, with enthusiasts willing to pay a premium for proven, hardware-based safeguards.
Personalisation and Expression Beyond function, the accessory market has embraced style-centered personalisation. Companies like GripLux offer interchangeable skins, metallic accents, and custom-engraved modules that let users tailor aesthetics alongside capability. 3D-printing pen attachments produce one-off stands and mounts, while customizable back panels in wood, leather, or carbon fiber turn protective cases into statements of personality. This drive for expression has made accessories as visible a part of one’s identity as watch bands or sneakers, fueling a rapid turnover cycle.
Enhanced Productivity and Creativity Accessories are no longer passive add-ons but active productivity tools. AI-enhanced styluses simulate paper-like haptics, transcribe handwriting in real time, and trigger shortcuts with side-button gestures. Next-generation Bluetooth keyboards fold into wallet-size modules, auto-pairing via UWB (ultra-wideband) when placed near the phone. Portable docks with Thunderbolt-4 bring full desktop-class connectivity wherever you go, supporting dual 8K displays and wired networks. For content creators, built-in ND filters, powered gimbals, and near-field audio arrays transform a smartphone into a mobile studio. In 2025, these enhancements have become essential for entrepreneurs, students, and digital nomads alike.
Sustainability and Longevity Conscious consumers in 2025 demand eco-friendly accessories that reduce waste. Modular designs mean individual lens modules, battery packs, or grips can be upgraded without discarding the entire case. Bio-based materials and repairable components extend product lifecycles, and manufacturers offer refurb and swap programs for outdated units. This shift toward sustainability has driven enthusiasts to replace disposable or single-use gear with premium, long-lasting alternatives.
Future-Proof Investment Finally, many tech enthusiasts view accessories as future-proof investments. A well-engineered hub, grip, or lens array can outlast multiple phone generations. Companies that commit to software support, firmware updates, and backward compatibility earn loyalty—and justify higher price tags. In 2025, the most savvy users evaluate accessories not just for immediate benefit, but for their roadmap: will this MagSafe ring support the next iPhone? Can this charger adapt to future battery chemistries? Accessories with clear upgrade paths have become a strategic choice.
In 2025, upgrading phone accessories is about more than staying trendy—it’s about unlocking the full potential of your device, protecting your data and health, and making a sustainable, future-oriented investment. Whether you choose GripLux’s magnetic grips, AI-driven styluses, or clinical-grade health patches, the right combination of add-ons can transform your iPhone from a remarkable gadget into an indispensable companion. Tech enthusiasts are leading the charge, and if you want to keep pace, now is the time to explore the next frontier of accessories.
