If you want to add the no-ai DuckDuckGo as Firefox's default search engine:

Go to the menu > Settings > Search and scroll down to "Search Shortcuts." Click "Add".

You can name the search engine whatever you want. I already have the normal "DuckDuckGo," so I had to name the no-ai version differently. In the URL, put:
https://noai.duckduckgo.com/?t=h_&q=%s
The keywords are optional, I just copied the ones that were in the normal DuckDuckGo. Save it, then you can set it as the default. If you scroll back up to the top of the Search page, click the dropdown under "Default Search Engine" to select the no-ai DuckDuckGo you just added.

kinda want to rant/let out all my feelings on one of Nintendo's recent *controversial* decisions
listen, if Nintendo wants to raise their game prices to $80, they can go ahead for all i care. that's their perogative. i just hope they're prepared for less sales. it's not like every Nintendo fan magically started making more money all of a sudden to buy games at the same frequency they used to. consumers will have to be more picky and careful about what games they choose to buy. families might be less likely to purchase a Switch 2 due to the prices since there's a perfectly good Switch 1 for $150 less that plays most of the same games that the new model can, for 10 to 20 bucks less per game.
and let me add something before anyone says, "but Donkey Kong Bananza is $70!"
hypothetically, if Nintendo kept making 3D Donkey Kong games after the N64 with the same frequency and quality of 3D Mario games, Donkey Kong Bananza would ABSOLUTELY be $80 today. the only reason this game costs $70 is because the last game came out 25 years ago, and they don't know how much this one is going to sell. they don't know how many people are going to want to buy it. clearly, they don't listen to their fans to begin with.
the next original 3D Mario game will cost $80. the next original Zelda game will cost $80. the next original Kirby, Splatoon, Pokémon, Smash Bros. games. WILL. COST. 80. DOLLARS.
Don't for a SECOND think that the price of Mario Kart World is a fluke, just because 8 Deluxe was the best-selling Switch 1 game and "they know they can get away with $80 since everyone will buy it anyways."
$80 IS the new standard. don't let anyone tell or convince you otherwise.

idk if people on tumblr know about this but a cybersecurity software called crowdstrike just did what is probably the single biggest fuck up in any sector in the past 10 years. it's monumentally bad. literally the most horror-inducing nightmare scenario for a tech company.
some info, crowdstrike is essentially an antivirus software for enterprises. which means normal laypeople cant really get it, they're for businesses and organisations and important stuff.
so, on a friday evening (it of course wasnt friday everywhere but it was friday evening in oceania which is where it first started causing damage due to europe and na being asleep), crowdstrike pushed out an update to their windows users that caused a bug.
before i get into what the bug is, know that friday evening is the worst possible time to do this because people are going home. the weekend is starting. offices dont have people in them. this is just one of many perfectly placed failures in the rube goldburg machine of crowdstrike. there's a reason friday is called 'dont push to live friday' or more to the point 'dont fuck it up friday'
so, at 3pm at friday, an update comes rolling into crowdstrike users which is automatically implemented. this update immediately causes the computer to blue screen of death. very very bad. but it's not simply a 'you need to restart' crash, because the computer then gets stuck into a boot loop.
this is the worst possible thing because, in a boot loop state, a computer is never really able to get to a point where it can do anything. like download a fix. so there is nothing crowdstrike can do to remedy this death update anymore. it is now left to the end users.
it was pretty quickly identified what the problem was. you had to boot it in safe mode, and a very small file needed to be deleted. or you could just rename crowdstrike to something else so windows never attempts to use it.
it's a fairly easy fix in the grand scheme of things, but the issue is that it is effecting enterprises. which can have a looooot of computers. in many different locations. so an IT person would need to manually fix hundreds of computers, sometimes in whole other cities and perhaps even other countries if theyre big enough.
another fuck up crowdstrike did was they did not stagger the update, so they could catch any mistakes before they wrecked havoc. (and also how how HOW do you not catch this before deploying it. this isn't a code oopsie this is a complete failure of quality ensurance that probably permeates the whole company to not realise their update was an instant kill). they rolled it out to everyone of their clients in the world at the same time.
and this seems pretty hilarious on the surface. i was havin a good chuckle as eftpos went down in the store i was working at, chaos was definitely ensuring lmao. im in aus, and banking was literally down nationwide.
but then you start hearing about the entire country's planes being grounded because the airport's computers are bricked. and hospitals having no computers anymore. emergency call centres crashing. and you realised that, wow. crowdstrike just killed people probably. this is literally the worst thing possible for a company like this to do.
crowdstrike was kinda on the come up too, they were starting to become a big name in the tech world as a new face. but that has definitely vanished now. to fuck up at this many places, is almost extremely impressive. its hard to even think of a comparable fuckup.
a friday evening simultaneous rollout boot loop is a phrase that haunts IT people in their darkest hours. it's the monster that drags people down into the swamp. it's the big bag in the horror movie. it's the end of the road. and for crowdstrike, that reaper of souls just knocked on their doorstep.

Amazon owns Audible, the monopoly audiobook platform that controls >90% of the audio market. They require mandatory DRM for every book sold, locking those books forever to Amazon’s monopoly platform. If you break up with Amazon, you have to throw away your entire audiobook library.
That’s a hell of a lot of leverage to hand to any company, let alone a rapacious monopoly that ran a program targeting small publishers called “Project Gazelle,” where execs were ordered to attack indie publishers “the way a cheetah would pursue a sickly gazelle”:

I won’t sell my work with DRM, because DRM is key to the enshittification of the internet. Enshittification is why the old, good internet died and became “five giant websites filled with screenshots of the other four” (h/t Tom Eastman). When a tech company can lock in its users and suppliers, it can drain value from both sides, using DRM and other lock-in gimmicks to keep their business even as they grow ever more miserable on the platform.
Here is how platforms die: first, they are good to their users; then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers; finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves. Then, they die:

Every tech giant used interop to grow, and then every tech giant promptly turned around and attacked interoperators. Every pirate wants to be an admiral. When Big Tech did it, that was progress; when you do it back to Big Tech, that’s piracy. The tech giants used their monopoly power to make interop without permission illegal, creating a kind of “felony contempt of business model” (h/t Jay Freeman).
The Internet Con describes how this came to pass, but, more importantly, it tells us how to fix it. So.
Re: tumblr bans of transfemmes.
Let's ignore PhotoMatt for a moment. Manbaby tech CEO doubling down on a stupid decision and making himself look like more of an ass doing so is not a new phenomena.
Tumblr has consistently said, in both public statements and leaked internal communication, that they're essentially running a skeleton crew.
They keep saying that they don't have the resources to moderate, manually review posts, have any kind of appeal process, or anything. So, as people have widely received communications about, they seemed to have automated a significant portion of the moderation to operate solely on the quantity of reports (probably with a basic filter, eg quantity of reports regarding a certain post, within a certain timeframe) to automatically ban or shadowban accounts.
And so, they wipe their hands, both to the users, the public, and their own consciousness, and go about their automated operations.
All of this is likely true. Tumblr, at this point, is essentially abandonware internally, a kind of weird vanity project/dumpster ground for server infrastructure for Automattic. Likely, they don't want the bad press of "shutting down" fully. Or maybe the trickle of revenue they get here just barely exceeds operating costs, so why not keep it around?
Whatever is the case, the bans are a result of an automated process working in the background. I'm giving them some benefit of the doubt here, of course, we can't know anything for certain- but it seems like the individual bans are not based on any specific, manual action.
And that doesn't fucking excuse anything.
Because at some point, multiple people sat down at tumblr, and decided how to cut costs.
And they decided that the bare minimum of report abuse prevention was one of the first things on the chopping block.
Before the boops. Before GUI reconfigures.
They decided to cut something that is necessary to manage online communities.
They decided to cut something that ensures any targeted group will have any kind of community online.
And then, after all of that, the only manual intervention is doubling down on the shitty decisions that the automated systems make, and plucking reasons out of their ass for why they were the right decisions all along.
It's pure silicon valley brain. Blame the computer often and always. Use it to shield the active decisions you made when designing the computer that way. Treat it as a fact of life as opposed to something they actively made decisions for.
Is tumblr staff hitting the banhammer on each transfemme one by one? No.
Is tumblr staff deliberately crafting a system that allows TERFs and other conservative bigots to get rid of the "undesirables" for them? Yup. But they sure as hell are trying to not say the quiet part out loud. If they can always point the finger somewhere else, to the advertisers, to the automated systems, to the TERFs, then they can always have juuusssttt enough plausible deniability.
But being the "queerest place on the internet" requires concious acknowledgement that queer people will be targets of harassment, and you will have to protect against that.
Side note, this is why I do try to keep my blog at least somewhat SFW. Its one of the main reasons why I choose not to reblog all of the posts I'm tagged in- if the post is overtly NSFW, I've probably seen it, appreciated it, and consciously decided my level of interaction with it mostly based on how "tumblr friendly" it is. Is that bowing down to them? A little. It's also my choice. I value the community I have here. The pushes that y'all have given me gave me the strength to transition, and honestly gives me a lot of motivation to research HRT biology as much as I can, among many other things.
Yeah, I post pictures that are clearly meant to be found attractive in ways that are generally not socially acceptable , but never actual NSFW. I would like to think that I'm pretty safe from bans, but hey. Who knows. I don't want to lose my follower base, and the community around it.

What able bodied authors think I, an amputee and a wheelchair user, would want in a scifi setting:
Tech that can regenerate my old meat legs.
Robot legs that work just like meat legs and are functionally just meat legs but robot
Literally anything that would mean I don't have to use a wheelchair.
If I do need to use a wheelchair, make it fly or able to "walk me" upstairs
What I actually want:
Prosthetic covers that can change colour because I'm too indecisive to pick one colour/pattern for the next 5+ years.
A leg that I can turn off (seriously, my above knee prosthetic has no off switch... just... why?)
A leg that won't have to get refitted every time I gain or loose weight.
A wheelchair that I can teleport to me and legs I can teleport away when I'm too tired to keep walking. And vice versa.
In that same vein, legs I can teleport on instead of having to fiddle around with the sockets for half an hour.
Prosthetic feet that don't require me to wear shoes. F*ck shoes.
Actually accessible architecture, which means when I do want to use my wheelchair, it's not an issue.
Prosthetic legs with dragon-claw feet instead of boring human feet or just digigrade prosthetics that are just as functional as normal human-shaped ones.
A manual wheelchair with the option to lift my seat up like those scissor-lift things so I'm not eye-level with everyone's butt on public transport/so I can reach the top shelf by myself.
A prosthetic foot that lights up when it hits the ground like those children's shoes.
A few additions I remember seeing in the comments on my old account:
holographic prosthetic covers
transformers-style mobility aids that can fold into the shapes of different aids (e.g. a wheelchair that can fold into a cane)
prosthetic covers with pockets/hidden compartments (kind of surprised this isn't a thing already).
find my leg (like find my iphone, but for your legs when you haven't worn them in a while lol)
TLDR: Stop assuming every disabled person would want to be as close to "normal" as possible in your works. Some absolutely would and having options for them if fine, but I rarely see any examples of media showing those of us who don't. start letting amputees in your scifi works have fun with our prosthetics, fix the problems real amputees are already talking about instead of what you think are the issues and make your settings as a whole accessible!

"Artists have finally had enough with Meta’s predatory AI policies, but Meta’s loss is Cara’s gain. An artist-run, anti-AI social platform, Cara has grown from 40,000 to 650,000 users within the last week, catapulting it to the top of the App Store charts.
Instagram is a necessity for many artists, who use the platform to promote their work and solicit paying clients. But Meta is using public posts to train its generative AI systems, and only European users can opt out, since they’re protected by GDPR laws. Generative AI has become so front-and-center on Meta’s apps that artists reached their breaking point.
“When you put [AI] so much in their face, and then give them the option to opt out, but then increase the friction to opt out… I think that increases their anger level — like, okay now I’ve really had enough,” Jingna Zhang, a renowned photographer and founder of Cara, told TechCrunch.
Cara, which has both a web and mobile app, is like a combination of Instagram and X, but built specifically for artists. On your profile, you can host a portfolio of work, but you can also post updates to your feed like any other microblogging site.
Zhang is perfectly positioned to helm an artist-centric social network, where they can post without the risk of becoming part of a training dataset for AI. Zhang has fought on behalf of artists, recently winning an appeal in a Luxembourg court over a painter who copied one of her photographs, which she shot for Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam.
“Using a different medium was irrelevant. My work being ‘available online’ was irrelevant. Consent was necessary,” Zhang wrote on X.
Zhang and three other artists are also suing Google for allegedly using their copyrighted work to train Imagen, an AI image generator. She’s also a plaintiff in a similar lawsuit against Stability AI, Midjourney, DeviantArt and Runway AI.
“Words can’t describe how dehumanizing it is to see my name used 20,000+ times in MidJourney,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “My life’s work and who I am—reduced to meaningless fodder for a commercial image slot machine.”
Artists are so resistant to AI because the training data behind many of these image generators includes their work without their consent. These models amass such a large swath of artwork by scraping the internet for images, without regard for whether or not those images are copyrighted. It’s a slap in the face for artists – not only are their jobs endangered by AI, but that same AI is often powered by their work.
“When it comes to art, unfortunately, we just come from a fundamentally different perspective and point of view, because on the tech side, you have this strong history of open source, and people are just thinking like, well, you put it out there, so it’s for people to use,” Zhang said. “For artists, it’s a part of our selves and our identity. I would not want my best friend to make a manipulation of my work without asking me. There’s a nuance to how we see things, but I don’t think people understand that the art we do is not a product.”
This commitment to protecting artists from copyright infringement extends to Cara, which partners with the University of Chicago’s Glaze project. By using Glaze, artists who manually apply Glaze to their work on Cara have an added layer of protection against being scraped for AI.
Other projects have also stepped up to defend artists. Spawning AI, an artist-led company, has created an API that allows artists to remove their work from popular datasets. But that opt-out only works if the companies that use those datasets honor artists’ requests. So far, HuggingFace and Stability have agreed to respect Spawning’s Do Not Train registry, but artists’ work cannot be retroactively removed from models that have already been trained.
“I think there is this clash between backgrounds and expectations on what we put on the internet,” Zhang said. “For artists, we want to share our work with the world. We put it online, and we don’t charge people to view this piece of work, but it doesn’t mean that we give up our copyright, or any ownership of our work.”"

Controversial Good Omens Takes and HC bc I like to see the world burn. (The last one will make you question my sanity)
I prefer Bond obsessed Crowley over queen fan Crowley. Don't get me wrong, it's cute and the fanarts with him and Freddy are always a treat HOWEVER it just doesn't line up with my reading of the text and Bond obsessed Crowley is right there. I mean he literally got petrol ONCE to get the promotional bullet hole transfers that he put on his Bentley.
Personally I hc Crowley as tech illiterate. Hear me out. So in the book he basically gets tech gadgets (his watch, his computer, his stereo) bc they are stylish, not bc they are practical. Literally his stereo is missing something critical yet still works bc he believes it should. So I think he is just great at pretending to know how tech works and things just seem like he does bc he believes that's how things should be. Actually he doesn't even know where to set his lockscreen. His phone just never dared to not have the correct one. And yes I know he hacked a few computers for the M25 well jokes on you, in that one deleted scene he does all those theatrics to bring down the phone network only to ultimately dump coffee over the server. He literally could have achieved the same thing from home. His hacking back in the day probably involved braking and entering and switching out the storage mediums manually. Not very tech literate if you ask me.
Aziraphale on the other hand is surprisingly tech literate, he is just a few decades behind. This one needs another explanation. So basically Aziraphale knows how things work, could probably explain to you in excruciating detail the program structure of any given application. He just struggles with graphical user interfaces and doesn't like non tactical inputs. He prefers to start his programs via console commands and probably finds it silly that people stopped memorizing where their files went. He'd probably run circles around any expert once given woefully outdated tech. So basically he understands how the fundamentals work and what's under the hood, so to speak, but he just really doesn't see the point in making it all work via pretty pictures and without clicky keys. I mean he still files his very accurate taxes on an Amstrad (was it an Amstrad ? Idk old computer, currently too lazy to look up which one he has)
(this one is probably not quite as controversial) No human in modern times will recognize what they are and remember it. So basically even tho Madam Tracy literally got possessed by Aziraphale, and had things explained to her, she probably forgot about the incident right after or if she remembers she believes Aziraphale to be a ghost and would not recognize him if she ran into him again. Simply bc that would fit her interanized world view better. Something, something about the human mind finding 'rational' explanations for the things they have been through. So basically Aziraphale and Crowley are real dumbasses when it comes to pretending to be human but they don't realize it, bc they just assume they are good at it and reality makes sure nobody proves them otherwise.
This here concludes the HC portion of this post. Turn around now, beyond this point only literary and fandom takes can be found pfff
The novel has the better ending. Don't get me wrong I love the show and the body swap. But you win some you lose some. Personally I think having their headquarters even attempt to execute our two idiots takes away from the overarching theme of the story. The whole point of having angels and demons be involved and having hell and heaven be dead set on the apocalypse is to basically frame humanity as the driving force. Aziraphale and Crowley are useless and so are their headquarters. They are detached pencil pushers obsessed with the illusion of control without actually having any. They follow their plan bc that's what they think they have to do, without ever considering the thing they have been entrusted with. They have as much of an idea what's going on as everybody else but make a point about pretending they the answers. They are all powerful but in the grand scheme of things barely move the needle. Them just pretending everything was fine and not punishing Aziraphale and Crowley to keep up face bc it's easier to pretend that THIS was the great plan after all, is hilarious and fits their role in the story better in my opinion. Then again they got more involved in the show so their role shifted slightly anyway soooo ehhhh.
While we all (hopefully) have disavowed Neil Geiman at this point, there is a conversation to be had (and a bit of unpacking to be done) on how much that person influenced and shaped the Good Omens fandom as it is today by positioning himself as the defacto authority over the story for DECADES. It actually insane how far back this goes. Just look at the Terry Gilliam adaptation that never happened. NG posted more about it than official sources despite also being on record stating that he doesn't want to be involved with another adaptation attempt at the time. Going as far as mentioning it in a completely unrelated context on occasion. That dude literally reshaped the narrative around the whole of Good Omens whenever it seemed to give him browney points. He even had a habit of dropping in other Terry Prattchet properties in a very strange way (in retrospective) and sure we know the two of them were friends and we can't judge their relationship bc we were not there BUT it's just very funny to see how Sir Terry had a consistent narrative the times he mentioned Good Omens on record, while NG not only talked a whole lot more about it, constantly, but also seems to reshape the narrative continuously in small ways.
(This point will make you question my sanity) There are influences from the 1992 movie script that made their way into the TV adaptation we finally got and possibly shaped the discussion about the sequel. Examples of that are Crowley's habit of snapping/him having anger issues , the concept of them being punished, Adam's dialogue with Satan, the starting point of the sequel/S3 aka Crowley being no longer affiliated with hell while Aziraphale is still affiliated with heaven. There are a few other things that are not in the novel but make a first appearance (as far as we know of bc I don't think we will ever get to read the script that was written in collaboration before the shit!script) in that version of the story. Sooo yhea you can say there are at least some subconscious influences.

The young acknowledged it with reason and able argument .. some of the mid elders disagreed mildly .. and the end was kind of neutral ..
Blessed be they of the next GEN .. their minds are sorted out well in advance .. and why not .. we shall not be around till time in advance , but they and their progeny shall .. as has been the norm through generations ...
The IPL is now the greatest attraction throughout the day .. particularly on the Sunday, for the two on the day .. and there is never a debate on that ..

The fear is not for losing jobs. It is the compromise of intellectual property and use without compensation. This case is slightly different.
I think AI will only make humans smarter. If we use it to our advantage.

What Actually Happened: YouTube evolved to protect IP and monetize it through systems like Content ID, which allows rights holders to:
Automatically detect when their content is used

Instead of wiping out creators or studios, it became a massive revenue stream—especially for musicians, media companies, and creators. Entire business models emerged around fair use, remixes, and reactions—with compensation built in.

For the Benefit of All: Assistive Tech Developed from NASA Tech
What do modern cochlear implants and robotic gloves have in common? They were derived from NASA technology. We’ve made it easier to find and use our patented inventions that could help create products that enhance life for people with disabilities.
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, which highlights the contributions of American workers with disabilities – many of whom use assistive technology on the job. Take a look at these assistive technologies that are NASA spinoffs.

Low-Vision Headsets
The Joint Optical Reflective Display (JORDY) device is a headset that uses NASA image processing and head-mounted display technology to enable people with low vision to read and write. JORDY enhances individuals’ remaining sight by magnifying objects up to 50 times and allowing them to change contrast, brightness, and display modes. JORDY's name was inspired by Geordi La Forge, a blind character from “Star Trek: The Next Generation” whose futuristic visor enabled him to see.

Cochlear Implants
Work that led to the modern cochlear implant was patented by a NASA engineer in the 1970s. Following three failed corrective surgeries, Adam Kissiah combined his NASA electronics know-how with research in the Kennedy Space Center technical library to build his own solution for people with severe-to-profound hearing loss who receive little or no benefit from hearing aids. Several companies now make the devices, which have been implanted in hundreds of thousands of people around the world.

Robotic Gloves
Ironhand, from Swedish company Bioservo Technologies, is the world’s first industrial-strength robotic glove for factory workers and others who perform repetitive manual tasks. It helps prevent stress injuries but has been especially warmly received by workers with preexisting hand injuries and conditions. The glove is based on a suite of patents for the technology developed by NASA and General Motors to build the hands of the Robonaut 2 humanoid robotic astronaut.

Smart Glasses
Neurofeedback technology NASA originally developed to improve pilots’ attention has been the basis for products aimed at helping people manage attention disorders without medication. The devices measure brainwave output to gauge attention levels according to the “engagement index” a NASA engineer created. Then, they show the results to users, helping them learn to voluntarily control their degree of concentration. One such device is a pair of smart glasses from Narbis, whose lenses darken as attention wanes.

Anti-Gravity Treadmills
A NASA scientist who developed ways to use air pressure to simulate gravity for astronauts exercising in space had the idea to apply the concept for the opposite effect on Earth. After licensing his technology, Alter-G Inc. developed its anti-gravity G-Trainer treadmill, which lets users offload some or all of their weight while exercising. The treadmills can help people recover from athletic or brain injuries, and they allow a safe exercise regimen for others with long-term conditions such as arthritis.

Wireless Muscle Sensors
Some of the most exciting assistive technologies to spin off may be yet to come. Delsys Inc. developed electromyographic technology to help NASA understand the effects of long-term weightlessness on astronauts’ muscles and movements. Electromyography detects and analyzes electrical signals emitted when motor nerves trigger movement. Among the company’s customers are physical therapists developing exercise routines to help patients recover from injuries. But some researchers are using the technology to attempt recoveries that once seemed impossible, such as helping paralyzed patients regain movement, letting laryngectomy patients speak, and outfitting amputees with artificial limbs that work like the real thing.  
To further enhance the lives of people with disabilities, NASA has identified a selection of patented technologies created for space missions that could spur the next generation of assistive technology here on Earth.

These gatekeeping gremlins need to sit the entire hell down. Like oh, congratulations, babe, you typed out your 60k slow burn fic without any help—want a cookie? No one's taking away your Tumblr Gold Star for Suffering. But acting like anyone who uses AI is some kind of intellectual bottom-feeder? Absolutely not. That’s elitist nonsense masquerading as moral superiority, and it reeks of insecurity.
Let me tell you something real: knowing how to use tools, including AI, to better yourself, learn things schools won’t touch, or just get shit done more efficiently? That’s called ADAPTABILITY. It’s a freaking superpower. Meanwhile, the “I’m better because I suffer through everything manually” crowd is just romanticizing struggle like it's a personality trait.
You can learn valuable stuff—on your terms, in your time, for your benefit. That is badass. That is powerful. And anyone sneering at that can go reread their own angry text post like it’s a Shakespearean tragedy, because clearly, they love the drama.
The vibe is "I suffered, so you should too." Like okay, Grandpa, just because you walked uphill both ways in the snow to write fanfic with nothing but MS Paint and a prayer doesn't mean the rest of us need to. It's giving boomer with a superiority complex, but make it ✨digitally condescending✨.
What they don't get is that growth doesn’t have to come from misery. You don’t have to struggle to earn your place in the world. Using resources smartly isn’t cheating—it’s EVOLUTION. You think Einstein would've said “no thanks” to a calculator out of some weird purist pride? Hell no. He’d be like, “Give me the tech, I’ve got theories to flex.”
So if these digital boomers want to gatekeep enlightenment because it didn’t come soaked in their personal suffering—let them. Meanwhile, others will be busy actually learning, creating, and elevating while they’re stuck in 2011 with their holier-than-thou typewriter vibes. Catch up or kindly get out of the way.
ChatGPT users are not the problem. Their bitter nostalgia complex is.
That and now people think using em dash is AI. Lemme tell you something Kayleigh, some of us actually majored in English in college. We were taught and instructed to use em dashes because they belong in sentences. Grammar is an academic class. I'm sick of these Regina Georges of the internet acting like they’ve cracked some Da Vinci code every time they see an em dash and go, “Ummm this is giving AI…” Girl, WHAT? Since when did basic punctuation become a war crime?
Listen, Ava, just because you discovered grammar on TikTok last week doesn’t mean the rest of us are AI clones. Some of us sat through ten thousand workshops and wrote fifteen-page close readings on Virginia Woolf’s use of syntax, okay? We bled MLA formatting. We were born into the semicolon; we didn’t merely adopt it. The sheer audacity of equating using proper, elegant, academically validated punctuation with “must be AI” is just another flavor of intellectual laziness wrapped in performative superiority. Like—no, sweetie, it’s not AI. It’s called knowing the goddamn English language. Shocking, I know. So let them spiral in their grammatical ignorance. We’re not just writing—we’re serving literary finesse, and they simply can’t handle that level of educated flair. Keep using your em dashes, babes. The English department would be proud.
It really is giving “Goody Proctor was seen using ChatGPT under the light of a blood moon” and now the whole village is clutching their pitchforks and pearl necklaces like it’s The Crucible: Tumblr Edition. Like damn, Sophie, what’s next—burning us at the stake for bolding text or using proper paragraph structure?
They’re out here acting like being a Non-AI User is some kind of moral compass. Babes, it’s not a religion. You’re not a better person because you wrote your essay while crying into a candle and stabbing the paper with a quill. And the idea that using AI makes someone a “cheater” or “lazy” is just thinly veiled fear of change masquerading as virtue. What’s actually lazy? Refusing to adapt, learn, or question your own biases. What’s actually scary? People treating nuanced tools like digital heresy because it threatens their little superiority bubble.
So yeah, it’s 100% giving “witchhunt”—but plot twist: we’re the smart witches. We’ve got scrolls, spells, and spellcheck. They’ve got vibes and vitriol. And history has shown that when you burn the witches, the real magic dies. Not today, Puritan Tumblr. Not. Today.
And like I get the concern about real artists being stolen from, but that's not the point here. ChatGPT ACTUALLY HELPS PEOPLE. If they think they're too cool to access information that's there and right in front of them.... that's their loss. These zealots are missing the fact that two things can be true at the same time. YES, we can (and should) talk about protecting real artists, preventing plagiarism, and making sure AI isn't being used unethically. Those are valid conversations. But that’s NOT what most of these people are actually doing. They’re just waving the “ethics” flag while being condescending and smug AF toward people who are using AI to grow, learn, and better themselves.
Some of us are over here expanding our minds, leveling up, actually using the resources available like a grown, curious, intelligent adult, and they’re sitting on their high horses gatekeeping knowledge like it's some elite club with a velvet rope and a powdered wig. NEWSFLASH: Using ChatGPT doesn’t make you a robot. It doesn’t mean you have no creativity, no intelligence, or no soul. You know what it does mean? That you’re resourceful, adaptive, and unafraid to explore new tech to make your life better. That’s not a red flag, babe. That’s a power move.
So go ahead and rot in your handcrafted moral superiority echo chamber. Others are out here in the 21st century, tapping into a global library of ideas, asking the big questions, and evolving like baddie scholars. If anti AI crusaders wanna miss out on all that because they’re too busy moralizing over punctuation and purity? That’s their tragic little loss.

SRWE or AI? Best Ways to Upscale Sims 4 Screenshots
Are you also tired of seeing social media mercilessly crush your The Sims 4 screenshots? We’ve tried every trick in the book to keep our pics crisp – SRWE, AI upscalers, you name it – and now we’re ready to break down how to save your favorite sim’s photos from pixelation, quick and easy. In this article, we’ll explain (no tech jargon, promise!) what actually works, plus share our hands-on experience and top tips.
Your upscaling method depends heavily on the source image and the look you’re going for. We all have different ideas of what makes a sims beautiful – some love natural textures, even slight skin imperfections, while others prefer flawlessly smooth, hyper-sharp results.
We’ve tested different upscaling tools to help boost your screenshot quality. But to find your perfect match – the one that makes your shots look just right (by your standards!) – we recommend trying a few yourself.
You can enhance screenshots both before and after saving them! We’ve covered both approaches, so pick whichever suits you best.
Before Saving the Screenshot: SRWE (Simple Runtime Window Editor)
This tool is well-known in The Sims 4 community – there are tons of YouTube tutorials covering it. When it comes to improving image quality before taking a screenshot, SRWE is one of the first solutions that comes to mind.
It works by bypassing Windows' DPI scaling, allowing you to capture screenshots at a higher resolution without blurring.
Pros:
— A fantastic tool: it delivers the exact same image but in much better quality.
— No conflicts with GShade/ReShade: your presets will look exactly as intended.
— Free and easy to install, no hidden costs or complicated setup.
— No post-processing needed, preserves original texture and UI quality.
— No extra plugins or presets required, works right out of the box.
— Great performance even on low-end PCs. If your computer can run GShade, SRWE will work just fine.
Cons:
— Limited functionality.
— Some users find SRWE a bit tricky to set up (though we personally disagree).
Now, let’s break down how to use it and what results to expect.

Step 1
First things first – you'll need to download the program itself. It's available for free on GitHub – you can grab it here.
There's no real benefit to getting the version with pre-configured profiles, so just download the standard version without profiles.
Step 2
Extract the files from the archive.
It doesn’t matter where you store them on your computer – it won’t affect how the program works.
Step 3
Now it’s time to launch the game and switch from fullscreen to windowed mode in the settings. You can also do this with the Alt+Enter shortcut.

Step 4
Set up your shot exactly how you want it. Open the location, pose your sims, apply any presets if needed. At this point, you can take a regular screenshot (for comparison) using your usual method.
Step 5
1. Go back to the SRWE folder.
There are only two files inside – one of them launches the program (no installation needed).

2. In the window that opens, select The Sims 4 from the list.

4. Image Size
You can set your screenshot size in a few different ways:
— The easiest method: Multiply your current resolution by the desired factor. For example, to upscale 1080p to 4K, multiply by 2. Tap Set.

— Manual input: Enter your preferred pixel dimensions. Tap Set.

— Aspect ratio mode: Choose a format (1:1, 16:9, 4:3, etc.) and set your target megapixels. The program will automatically calculate the dimensions. Tap Set.

Honestly, you can experiment with any size. During our tests, even a weak PC handled an 8K screenshot without issues – though realistically, 4K is more than enough for most purposes.
Plus, if you're capturing in-game scenes (not just CAS), your screenshots will already be pretty large in file size. You probably won’t want them taking up even more space unnecessarily.
Step 6
Now when you return to the game, you'll notice the image has become significantly larger and no longer fits your screen resolution – you're only seeing a part of it.
Don't panic! Just wait for your preset to fully load (if you're using one), then take your screenshot as you normally would.
Step 7
Once you've captured your planned screenshot, head back to SRWE and click "Fake Fullscreen" to return to the original resolution.

For in-game screenshots, this method works much better if you have at least a moderately powerful PC. After upscaling, navigation can become tricky due to lag. That said, it's still completely doable since we've prepared our scene in advance.
Post-Processing Screenshots
We've tested several post-processing programs: two paid options and several free ones.
Let's start with the paid options – Topaz Gigapixel AI and Let's Enhance.
Topaz Gigapixel AI
A specialized tool from Topaz Labs designed specifically for AI-powered image upscaling.
It doesn’t include extra features like noise reduction or face correction, but it delivers more precise upscaling, which is especially useful for The Sims 4 screenshots.
Pros:
— Upscale up to 600% (6x) without losing detail.
— Preserves texture clarity (hair, clothing, patterns).
— Automatically restores lost details (e.g., small decor items).
— Supports batch processing (multiple screenshots at once).
Cons:
— $99 price tag.
— Requires a powerful PC for 4K upscaling.

A convenient online AI-powered tool for enhancing screenshots. No downloads required – just head to https://letsenhance.io/boost and you're good to go.
Pros:
— Automatic upscaling up to 16K, boosts resolution without losing detail (hair and clothing textures become sharper).
— Dead simple to use: just upload your screenshot, pick a model, and download the result.
— AI doesn't just upscale, it subtly "beautifies" images too (though this is subjective, of course).
Cons:

Pros:

Given Upscayl's minimalist interface and lack of detailed tutorials, we decided to provide a more thorough walkthrough.
Step 1
First, download the program from its GitHub page. It's completely free and open-source.
Multiple versions are available – choose the one matching your system. For standard Windows, download the file highlighted in the screenshot below.

Step 2
Run the installer as administrator.
Install location doesn't matter – it won't affect performance. Select the destination folder. Click "Install".
Step 3 
Upscayl includes several built-in AI models (good for testing), but we strongly recommend downloading custom models for better results:
1. Download the custom models pack here (also accessible via Settings → Add Custom Models in-app).

2. Extract the archive.
3. Navigate to custom-models-main → custom-models-main.
Move this folder to your Upscayl installation directory (optional: rename it).
Your Upscayl folder should now look like this:

4. Add Custom Models:
— Launch Upscayl.
— Go to Settings and click Select Folder.

— Navigate to Upscayl → custom-models-main → models
Critical: The folder must be named "models" – don't rename it.
Step 4
Now that you have both the default and custom models loaded, it's time to start enhancing your screenshots.
1. Click Select Image or simply drag and drop your file into the processing area.

2. Choose Upscale Factor.
While Upscayl supports up to 16x magnification, it warns that anything above 5x may severely strain your system.
For optimal results, stick with 2x to 4x.

3. Select AI Model.
Click the Select AI Model dropdown: default models show before/after previews, custom models appear as a text list.

4. Experiment! Try different models on the same screenshot. Test various scales (2x, 3x, 4x) – sometimes better results come from modest scaling, while 4x might degrade quality. 
For this demo, we'll use the first default model.
5. Click to begin enhancement.

6. Processing time duration depends on original image quality, selected parameters and your PC's power (may complete quickly or take several minutes). 
After processing, you'll see a clear side-by-side comparison of the changes.
7. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) for advanced viewing options.

Also you may reset to original and revert all changes instantly.
8. Save your image.
By default, Upscayl saves to the source image's folder. To change this click Set Output Folder.

9. After this, use the Ctrl+S keyboard shortcut, and the new image will be saved. The original filename will be appended with the name of the AI model used and the upscaling scale applied.
You can also use batch processing. Before loading images, you simply need to enable batch loading.

In the settings, there are different format options for saving processed images: PNG, JPG, WEBP. To preserve the best quality, we recommend choosing PNG.
