Tech leaders vs terror convicts: Tejasvi Surya rips into Pakistan's Bilawal Bhutto in US | Video

New Delhi:

Bharatiya Janta Party MP Tejasvi Surya launched a scathing attack on Pakistan’s former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Pakistani delegation at the UN, comparing their rhetoric of peace to “the Devil quoting from the scriptures.”

Speaking at the Indian Embassy in Washington, Surya mocked Bhutto’s portrayal of his delegation as one of peace, saying, “It is quite ironic that the Pakistani delegation is speaking the language of peace.

For a country that is trying to create fake heroes by promoting failed generals to field marshal, they don’t know what true leaders look like.” Taking aim at Pakistan’s dependence on Chinese military aid, Surya said, “Pakistan has been surviving on cheap Chinese imports, including military hardware, which spectacularly failed on the battlefield. So perhaps it is hard for them to digest high-quality, high-calibre military hardware as well as strong democratic leadership on the other side of the border.”

Surya is part of the Indian all-party parliamentary delegation to the US led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. The visit aims to engage stakeholders on India’s stance post-Operation Sindoor, launched after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.

Bhutto, who led Pakistan’s delegation to New York, had described India’s Operation Sindoor as “illegal strikes” during his address at the UN Headquarters, a claim India strongly contests.

▪️𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 deep concern about the increasing levels of carbon emissions globally and the lack of accountability among some of the largest polluters

▪️𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 the importance of international cooperation and investment in renewable energy to ensure a sustainable future for all,

▪️𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 the insufficient efforts by some states to curb their greenhouse gas emissions despite their commitments to international climate agreements.

Countries including France, U.K., U.S.A., Germany, Russia, China, and India hereby resolve to:

1. Hold world countries accountable for excessive emissions of carbon, with particular focus on high-emitting nations, ensuring transparency in reporting and adherence to emission reduction targets. (𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮)

2. Integrate human rights into climate policies, ensuring that vulnerable and marginalized communities are protected from the adverse effects of climate change. (𝗨𝗦𝗔)

3. Increase investment in renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric

power to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and promote cleaner energy. (𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲)

4. Promote investment in elect electric cars and other electric transport solutions to reduce emissions from the transportation sector. (𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮)

5. Decarbonize industries, energy production, and transport sectors through the adoption of renewable energy, hydrogen technology, and carbon capture techniques. (𝗨𝗞)

6.Enhance climate resilience by promoting low-carbon technologies and strengthening infrastructure to withstand climate-related disasters. (𝗥𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗮)

7. Encourage bilateral climate partnerships and international cooperation to foster global collaboration in combating climate change and sharing technologies. (𝗥𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗮)

#LokSabhaElections2024 : Second Phase – 89 Seats ; All 20 In Kerala , 14 In Karnataka , 13 In Rajasthan

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor, and actor-turned-politician Arun Govil are among the key candidates in the fray for the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls with Bharatiya Janata Party’s Hema Malini, Om Birla and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat seeking a hat-trick of wins from their respective constituencies.

Staggered over seven stages, the first phase of the elections held last Friday for 102 seats across 21 states and Union territories saw a voter turnout of around 65.5 per cent.

In the second phase of Lok Sabha polls on Friday, polling is scheduled in all 20 seats of Kerala, 14 of the 28 seats in Karnataka, 13 seats in Rajasthan, eight seats each in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, seven in Madhya Pradesh, five each in Assam and Bihar, three seats each in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, and one seat each in Manipur, Tripura and Jammu and Kashmir.

Gandhi is the sitting MP from Wayanad in Kerala and is seeking re-election. He is pitted against CPI’s Annie Raja and BJP’s K Surendran.

In the 2019 election, Gandhi secured victory by a substantial margin of more than 7 lakh votes against his closest rival, Communist Party of India’s P P Suneer.

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor is hoping to retain the Thiruvananthapuram seat for the fourth time. He is pitted against Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar from the BJP and CPI’s Pannyan Raveendran.

Malini, who has represented the Mathura constituency since 2014, is contesting against Congress’ Mukesh Dhangar while Om Birla, a two-time MP from Kota, is facing Prahlad Gunjal from the Congress party.

Union minister Shekhawat is eyeing a third win from the Jodhpur seat while Congress candidate Karan Singh Uchiyarda would look to put a spanner in the works of the BJP candidate.

Tejasvi Surya, the sitting MP for Bangalore South and the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), will face Congress’ Sowmya Reddy.

Budget has nothing for poor, farmers, middle class: Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday said that there is nothing in the Union Budget 2022 for the poor, farmers and middle class.

Chowdhury said, "Budget 2022 documents are perceived to be a roadmap for the future but here is what I have found there may be a map but there is no road in this Budget. The Budget document is nothing but a sheer rigmarole and rumbling stories much to the confusion of common people."

"The budget which has come on the backdrop of retail inflation over 6 per cent has nothing on controlling price rise. Unemployment and inflation have crossed record highs. We can summarise the Budget as a zilch," he added.

Citing the National Survey Report of September 2021, he pointed out that the average income of farmers is mere Rs 27/day and the average debt of a farmer is Rs 74,000.
