       “ that won’t be necessary with me. ” pink eyes narrowed at sight of the weapon; every scar from a startled human’s bullet ached on his weathered, burnt skin. the typical alarm suffered by humans and ghouls was nothing new, but he had lost any amusement he once felt due to it after the first gunshot wound many years ago.

       “ i think you’ll find i’m more than reasonable; i haven’t caused any trouble aside from the usual fright. ” goris noted, pulling the hood of his robe over his face once more with a deep inhale of the desert air. “ i’d prefer to keep it that way. “

       “ well, i suppose ‘cuddles’ is more flattering than other names people have given their deathclaws .” he’d witnessed a few over the years - people that had managed to tame the otherwise feral deathclaws, albeit often through cruel means. goris pulled his robes tighter out of habit; the sunlight was uncomfortable for many reasons, here. 

       “ how did you come across her? ” ‘cuddles’ was still small compared to elder deathclaws, FEV mutated or otherwise, though there were still evolutionary differences between the deathclaws of the commonwealth and those of california. “was she orphaned?” hopefully not by the human he was speaking to.

       “ if i had any intention of harming you, don’t you think i would have done it already? it was my belief that deathclaws here didn’t make the element of surprise a common...hunting practice. ” goris huffed as he donned his robe once again, eyeing the human with caution as well as returned suspicion. “ i would appreciate it if you lowered your weapon. that is a universal gesture - human or otherwise. ”

       “ when you say ‘alien’ do you truly mean ‘not of this earth’? ” the scholar was able to recognize several definitions of the word; ‘alien’ sometimes meant that which was odd or unusual - himself, for example -, but considering the story, goris was able to piece together a far more outlandish definition. even with his cloak, it was evident that the silhouette tilted his head in curiosity; she did not seem out of sorts at all. in fact, she seemed mentally sound from what he’d already gathered - though these things weren’t always visible or prominent.
