The difference between the rich and the poor is often just a matter of "concept", and value always takes precedence over numbers, and people who knows it enjoy its expensiveness, while people who don't know how to appreciate it overestimate their own frugality; for a long time, I have been living with a group of people like this all my life. I know it but I can't say it openly because it will spark arguments and I don't like it. That's why I love traveling (living in different cities, towns, and villages). You will get to know the lives of the so-called real poor and rich people. To be honest, they have nothing to do with money and wealth, but they are just the accumulation of ideas and experiences. In fact, things the more people knew, the more humble they are. Some people are illiterate at all, but their lives and hearts are sparkling; some people are dressed in dazzling clothes, and their words and deeds make people discard them like dirt; some people are like an old tree, full of the essence of the sun and the moon. When you meet someone like A person like a tree, he will make you want to sit down and enjoy the cool air or even take a nap. He has no desire, no need, no self, everything seems to have stopped and the sun is shining!

─ Sir Terry Pratchett, Men at Arms (ebook
此書排在他於1976年出版的科幻小說《The Dark Side of the Sun》以及於1981年出版的科幻小說《Strata》之前。

This is a bit of a ramble, but:
I truly believe that Sir Terence David John Pratchett is the greatest fantasy author of the post-Tolkien era. No one has done it as well as he did - prose, characters, tone, plot, themes, humor - he was the master of all of them.
His words danced off the page, from single lines like Death's
"LORD, WHAT CAN THE HARVEST HOPE FOR, IF NOT FOR THE CARE OF THE REAPER MAN?"
To the Vimes Boots Theory or Humans Need Fantasy monologues.
His characters are some of the most richly textured I've ever encountered - Death and Sam Vimes and Moist von Lipwig and Granny Weatherwax, each of them feels like they were given thought and care and used to tell stories that they were uniquely suited to tell.
He controlled tone like a master, from slapstick comedy to serious satire to tense moments where you feel that, just for a second, things might not be okay.
His plots were always believable in the context of the worlds he was telling, and were always engrossing - that the metaphysical adventures of Death and co. felt as natural a fit for Discworld as the starting of the setting's first newspaper, the solving of street crime and unraveling conspiracies and the grand re-opening of a post office is proof enough of that.
He used these plots to explore themes of responsibility, social inequality and duty to a person's community with razor-sharp wit and a deep anger for the injustice of the world around him. He fought the evils of the world with a pen and paper, even as he died. No one will ever do it like he did, but that he did it himself might just be good enough.
He brought comfort and joy and happiness and thought and introspection to millions.
GNU, Terry Pratchett. Mind how you go.

Hello friends, lovers, hereditary enemies, and fellow Good-Omens-brain-rot-afflicted!
Inspired by some lengthy conversations and the need for reassurance regarding a renewal for season 3, the lovely Eena @michaelsheens and I have decided to start a little Project!
(Sorry, Crowley, we had to…)
THE NICE AND ACCURATE PROPHECIES* WEEK
Running from SEPTEMBER 25TH to OCTOBER 1ST, it’s all themed around season 3 and the assumption we’re gonna get that renewal. (Manifesting, baby.)
✨ THE PLAN ✨
Every day will focus on a theme around which everyone who wants to participate is encouraged to create any kind of content they want to! Art, fanfic, edits, playlists, speculation, meta, go nuts!
(Also please don’t worry if something doesn’t fit neatly into a day’s theme; they’re only meant to give somewhat of a prompt and structure. Ultimately it’s not that strict and serious, we just wanna see your stuff :))
✨ HOW TO PARTICIPATE ✨
Share whatever your big heart and massive brain comes up with and use the tag #gomensnaap
(It’s like a long nap or something.)
You’re also welcome to give shoutouts to other people’s work you love and want to celebrate, but please make sure to link and credit properly (!!!)
Most importantly: have fun <3
✨ THEMES ✨
(under the cut)
DAY 1: “And there will be great lamentations.”
Let’s talk the Second Coming! We start off and warm up with everything plot-related. Theories, meta, crack ideas, let’s hear your thoughts on where you think the Big Main Plot is going to go!
DAY 2: “I can make a difference!”
For day two, let’s focus on Aziraphale’s arc in season 3. Did he go to Heaven with a plan? Or is he winging it? (Pun only somewhat intended.) Was he threatened or manipulated or both or neither? Will he tell Heaven just where they can stick it or can he actually succeed? What’s in store for our favorite angel?
DAY 3: “Hated by Heaven, loathed by Hell. How will our hero cope?”
Day three is all about Crowley and what we think he’s going to get up to. Is he going to go drink himself senseless and have a good cry? Go snek and hybernate for a bit? Hang out with Muriel and do some tempting? Does he have a plan and how will he cope being on his own?
DAY 4: “There was magic abroad in the air…”
Let’s talk Ineffable Husbands! How are Crowley and Aziraphale going to resolve things between them? Will there be a massive fight? Radio silence for days/weeks/months/years? Will they learn to Actually COmmunicate? Will there be grudges, grand gestures, secret meetings, a big rescue mission from either side?
DAY 5: “Extreme sanctions.”
On day six we wanna make ourselves anxious, sad and upset. (As one does.) What thing that may or may not happen in season 3 are you most worried about? Dark/depressed/evil/etc Crowley? Memory-wiped/brain-washed/archangel Aziraphale? Book of Life? How could Neil & Co hurt us the most?
DAY 6: “Do you…want a hot chocolate?”
After day 5’s spiral, it’s time for a metaphorical treat. What are you most looking forward to in season 3? What do you really want to see? Headcanons coming true? Scenes you wish for? Things that’ll make you wanna name your cat/dog/fish/insert other pet here Neil Richard Gaiman or Sir Terence David John Pratchett?
DAY 7: “It’s starts, as it will end, with a garden.”
Finally, to finish it all up, let’s speculate about the end of season 3. How do you think we’ll leave this story? Will things just go back to how they’ve always been? Will there be peace? Earth hidden from Heaven and Hell with a big 500 Lazarii miracle? Aziraphale and Crowley turned human? Or will they get their cottage in the South Downs for the rest of eternity?

Sir Terence David John Pratchett, known to all of us as Sir Terry Pratchett. Was an english author, humorist, satirist and novelist. Best known for his work such as good omens, Discworld, night watch and many more. Sir Terry Pratchett was the UK's best- selling author of the 90s.
The good omens series was Sir Terry Pratchett's dying wish to Neil gaiman, he wrote Neil a letter, in the letter he told Neil to make the tv adaptation of good omens. Unfortunately he passed away before he ever got a chance to see it. He will always be part of the good omens series, his hat and scarf is in the show, and so is his spirit.
"If you trust in yourself... and believe in your dreams... and follow your star... you’ll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren’t so lazy"

I had a dream last night where a handful of random strangers and I ended up in some strange old library without a clue as to why or how we were there, or where "there" was, for that matter. It was not the Unseen University Library, but it did seem to go on forever. Among the reasons that it was strange was that there was dust everywhere, but no cobwebs (as if it had been maintained, but somehow the dust stayed intact), the shelves were full of beautifully bound old hardcover books, but the titles seemed fuzzy and out of focus. People seemed interested in the books but the books seemed to resist by putting out nonthreatening but firm do not open or attempt to read vibe. Also, though there was enough light to see, there was no ceiling, only a starry sky. Then for some reason the thought seemed to occur to everyone at once: find Discworld.
The books were a couple of rows deep on the shelves and other books were stacked horizontally on top, so that you would need to remove the top books and then the front row in order to see the second row, but eventually I pulled yet another section of top and front row books from the shelf, about 11 well loved Discworld books floated up and over to a table. Slowly at first, but with increasing speed, we began to find others, all well loved and battered paperbacks. But we could only find 40. Stranger still, nobody could agree on what 40 they were. Someone would say that The Light Fantastic was missing only for someone to hold up I Shall Wear Midnight to show that it wasn't, and the original speaker would say that the other person was holding up The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents.
As we all tried to figure this out, something made everyone look up towards the sky at the same time, and we all watched as large glowing letters appear one at a time (starting with a small uppercase A) in pale-to-sky blue writing (in a font that somehow managed to be a combination of "generic medieval manuscript" and "art nouveau") until they eventually spelled out
. TERENCE DAVID JOHN PRATCHETT . I ATEN'T DEAD
and the missing book appeared and floated down. Everyone watched it descend in a blue glow that matched the writing, and after it had landed on the table I looked up at the writing in the sky as it seemed to slowly fade in a somewhat sparkly way. Once it had gone everyone started talking about what had just happened, and I alone noticed a tall figure robed in black standing between shelves and running a bone finger along a page of a book some distance away. He seemed to notice me, looked up, closed the book, and put it back on the shelf before looking at me again. One blue dot in an empty eye socket dimmed as he tried to wink at me and swept his arms towards the shelves as if telling me to look. I did. Now the author's name or a title became readable, and they were all either about the writing of Terry Pratchett, works that inspired him/he referenced, or were by Terry Pratchett himself.
Unfortunately, I woke up before I could read anything.

I know we’ve all accepted “Janthony” as Crowley’s middle name, but consider:
1. Jesus
2. Judas
3. Job (that entire part of the Bible was, as Aziraphale would call it, a clever ruse)
4. John (either of Patmos or of Terence David John Pratchett)
5. Jezebel
