An underrated media literacy skill that a horrifying amount of people seem to struggle with is knowing that a character saying or thinking something is true doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true if canon doesn’t show us that it is.

#artemis fowl#Artemis will just automatically include the upkeep of Butler's his mother's Juliet's and Holly's fountain pens in the upkeep of his own#Holly and Juliet tend not to use their pens often (which they have because Artemis gifted them pens) so Artemis will help whenever they vis#visit. Then with Butler it is largely due to the man not having the habit of building 'frivolous' rituals of care into his day so Artemis w#will care for the pens as Butler does (at the end of it all) adore the devices#with Angeline I feel Artemis is just so wholly dedicated to that kind of small act of care when it comes to his mother#(thinking of him composing a unique ringtone for her calls)#I think Fowl Sr is more of a ballpoint pen or a pencil fellow and Artemis will sometimes include his father in the hobby by cleaning#and repairing pens in his father's study while the man works (so he will have the experience of being included through the upkeep)#Tim does appreciate when Artemis shows off some of the special/exclusive inks he purchases#he finds the beauty of the ink a much more accessible aspect of the hobby#that diane ackerman quote about crying in a museum while looking at a piece of yellow sulfur and thinking about how lucky we are to live on#a planet of a natural yellow that is so marvelously yellow#Artemis will do ink tests (when you get a new ink and experiment with it on good quality paper) when his father is in the room for this rea#reason

If I had to administer a test on the topic of Usopp, I'm confident many people would lose significant points on the Water 7 portion. For instance, if the first question in that section was about why Usopp fought Luffy for the Going Merry, getting it wrong would likely indicate a struggle with the rest of the section.
Why did Usopp fight Luffy for the Going Merry?
a) because he didn’t respect Luffy and wanted to become captain
b) because it was his girlfriend, Kaya’s ship
c) being the de facto shipwright was the only thing he thought he had going for him. Without Merry he was useless.
d) he saw Merry as nakama and didn’t think it was fair to discard her and leave her like she meant nothing (and he saw himself in Merry)
e) Merry had a spirit (life) and he didn’t want her to not have one last good ride or improper burial.
Ah, tests are fun.

I'm honestly fully ready to just call my bank and tell them to do a chargeback but i'm giving the college bureaucracy a chance first. But as i said. I don't care who does it and how i get it, those €80 are gonna be back in my bank account by the end of october or so help me
#i didn't even tell youse about the fun i had at the student office#i got there i asked the guy at the counter what's happening with my enrolment process bc it has been on ''process has started'' for a week#and then some. this guy tells me they're testing a bot or whatever that automatically ''starts'' the process when the payment has been#received. so i'm like okay wtf. he goes to check my request manually but i notice he's looking at the one with a page of text#and that's my second request where i explained i want my money back so i go hey hey hey that's actually my refund request#this man goes and asks why i enrolled if i hadn't had all my exam grades marked yet#i look this man in the eye and say ''i wanted to ensure i'd be enrolled on time'' and he goes quiet#because i'm assuming he realised i tried to enrol the very day enrolments opened and here i was two days before they closed in the#student office asking wtf was happening to my enrolment process#so anyway. he goes and tells me i need to cancel my enrolment and enrol again and that he'll forward my refund request but can't#guarantee anything. and i'm like sure fine but now my scholarship page says i don't have to pay anything#so like whatever decision you lot make my bank is gonna know i made a payment i didn't have to make#and that if you refuse to refund me i'm getting a chargeback. so you know.#in any case i did all i could to make sure i was enrolled on time and still had to be on edge bc i had to restart the process two days#before the enrolment period ended. i deserve those €80 and then some

#:)#diagnosis paperwork arrived today and it's like. they couldn't actually say what's Wrong with me#on account of there being markers for two contradictory mutually exclusive problems#because in theory one condition SHOULD automatically preclude the other. but no#they're both showing as equally positive and negative. simultaneous blood tests are giving opposite results#there is technically a way it could all fit but it would require not one but two one in a million outcomes to be true#so either i'm dealing with erroneous results OR i'm the unluckiest bitch in the universe. take your pick!

wild to me that it takes hours for people in the usa to vote. it's never taken me more than 10 minutes and that's including the inevitable chit chat with the people there because they're either my parents' neighbours or the parents of people i went to school with.
#literally have your voting card and some kind of id ready#if you don't have your voting car then you just have to look up what desk you're supposed to go to usually it's split alphabetically so#for albonium it would be desk 1#get there give id (either my id my passport my social security card my driving license or a hunting permit (💀))))))))#pick up the little papers and an envelop#get in the booth#put the little paper in the envelop#that's if you haven't done it at home already#get out#put it in the box#the person there says “ HAS VOTED”#you sign next to your name#take your id#and fuck off#before your cousin's neighbours' grandma asks how your aunt is doing and if you've heard about the bakery being closed because the baker's#wife cheated on him and now he's got to take care of the kids and aetstdfhgfsgjgthj#you get what i mean#10 minutes tops#even in big cities#also it's always by paper like this if you want you can vote for someone else but you have to file papers at the police station#people empty the boxes and count them all together#if you want you're allowed to stay and watch as they count#or you can ask beforehand to participate in the counting#kids are automatically signed up on the voting lists when they turn 18 if they've done their mandatory 'defense and citizenship" day#ok this one is kind of propaganda-y for the army the cops etc but at the same time it allows to test the entire population to see if they'r#illeterate (there's grammar spelling etc tests)#do some driving rules lessons#cpr training#reminder about blood donations etc#which imo is important
