TFF is this weekend, and I decided last minute to remake Sym's fursuit head. So…here she is! Sym v3 💙

She's built off a custom 3D modeled headbase, printed in flexible TPU filament. She also has an interior fan for extra ventilation, and features my new slim fitting neck pattern

I'm really happy with how she turned out. Change is scary, but I think this change is worth it 💙

MY opinion on todays TSAMS ep

Going to try and keep this constructive, because criticism without offered solutions is just dumb. (Got a bit long, sorry)

(I've had to use data to watch it since my wifi isn't existing for some reason (like everything is working but for some reason it ain't showing up on the connect list).)

Todays TSAMS episode... hm.

What did I like about it? Well, I liked Dark Sun pressuring Sun, the desperation in Sun's voice and his reluctance to kill Nexus at first. I liked how Moon came rushing in, and the fact that both him and Solar were willing to die to protect Sun. Nexus's scream was pretty good too. I think Reed and Davis did pretty well acting-wise.

(I can't comment too much on the exact dialogue, since I had to rush through and conserve my data.)

All in all, a solid episode.

Where the episode falls flat, at least for me, is that it's very noticeably lacking something.

Ironically, it's also very similar to why I no longer watch TFF Fnaf, even though the potential of Bryan's character rotates in my brain like it's in a microwave.

Today's episode had too much buildup for what ended up being. I'm not purely talking about Nexus's death and the months of buildup, I'm talking about from a viewing stand point as well.

The "marketed appeal" (I dunno what else to call it tbh), of this particular episode set was that it was a three parter halloween special/arc finale that had the last part premiering.

The first part, The Halloween Party, did very well with the collab, the way the events took place, the editing was good... it was very solid, and I enjoyed it. It got me interested in what was to come, got me wondering who took Moon, what's going to happen next?

The second part was also excellent. Goliath versus the Dragon was a thrilling addition and Ruin helping Moon nicely showed off his character. The way Nexus yelled when he realized what had happened, nicely done too. I left that episode wondering what would happen to Ruin, who would win the dragon fight, will Sun and Moon find each other in time, will Sun's trance come into play at any point in time?

The last episode did not deliever on what the first two episodes were bringing up. The dragon did not come back, and with what Dark Sun said about not wanting to see Sun again, it most likely won't. Sun and Moon did find eachother, but it wasn't all that impactful? It felt more silly than anything else.

After writing this all, I realize what exactly I felt was missing.

The episode felt like filler, almost?

Throughout Dark Sun's regular antagonist position on the channel, and specifically near the end, after the dragon had been revealed, it felt like he had a plan. Something cooking up in the background that involved all these complex pieces. And in a way he did, but it wasn't satisfying. What was the point of the dragon? What was the point of asking Ruin how long? What was the point of all of that, if he's just going to leave? Dark Sun did almost nothing, and while I want to believe that all of it was because he that "data", he went about it in such a stupid way!

Nexus's death, while well acted, also just wasn't satisfying either.

I think ultimately, the disappointment I feel with the episode is a result of things feeling rushed, underdeveloped, or just not elaborated on. Nexus felt uncared for as a character and I think the story could've done without Dark Sun. It could also be that we just haven't seen everything that's too come with the story yet, and there's loose ends or extra stuff to be told. I want to continue watching, because I enjoy TSAMS, and I'm a huge fan of Davis and his va work.

Because I don't want to sound like all I'm doing is complaining, I want to offer a solution.

I think, something that's bogging TSAMS down as a whole, is how often it's being posted and how that really spreads the story thin. Three times a week with one "lore" episode per week would work well. Yes, that mean less daily views, but it could potentially boost the lifetime of the channel for a while. It'd be easier to catch up when a viewer has fallen behind and allow the episodes, both gaming and story, to breathe.

At the end of the day though, I don't know how the channel works, I'm not a va for the channel, I don't work for them. This is just my own opinion on it and if I write anymore I will begin rambling on about why Season 1 of TFF Fnaf was peak and the others weren't (jokes but I do think both TFF Fnaf and TSAMS have a lot of similarities when it comes to the writing issues).

tff rewatch thoughts, ep 10 (you forgot | but i still remember)

prologue. we're at beiyu. wen yi fan is called to go home early for errands. sang yan follows to give her back her favorite book. at the door, sang yan overhears wen yi fan being scolded (they won't give her some of her cousin's special chicken soup... because she's only ever caused trouble, she's a burden, she's not special enough) :(

at beiyu nostalgic noodles again, they're sitting apart on two separate tables, being watched closely by the store owner... apparently so they could focus on studying instead of flirting.

they still manage to do so anyway hihi. sang yan asks, did you get the book i returned? coz he's calling her attention to a note he wrote, which he placed between the pages of her favorite poem, "when you are old, i wont forget the time we spent together." im crying again. 😭 in one of the earlier episodes, we see that present-day wen yi fan has actually kept this note with her all these years.

today. at work, wen yi fan's aunt visits her. she makes a scene, and wen yi fan is distressed again. like really, really affected and distressed.

she sleepwalks again tonight. sits on the couch and repeatedly fiddles on her shirt sleeve. sang yan is worried for her, but still has no idea what’s truly going on. he even calls out her name twice, but thinks that she's just ignoring him.

in the morning, sang yan has made sure that breakfast is ready for his confrontation, but she's in a hurry, so she just drinks coffee and storms out. (btw, she drinks his coffee. ugh. these little details just get meeeee).

wen yi fan opens up to qiao qiao about how much she was made to feel like a burden living at her aunt's place all those years ago. now, she's internalized those words so deeply, believing them to be absolutely true.

she adds, "when i see those 100 yuan skirts, or those cheap little cakes... i cant bring myself to buy them... it's just that those things really feel like a waste when used on me." (i want to hugggg herrrr. but im glad that at least she's talking about her feelings to qiao qiao.. you can rely on other people, too, wen yi fan!)

at home. sang yan is now the one ignoring her (he can be real petty if he wants to be).

BUT ALSO! i made/cooked/bought extra (something) counter: 4; this time it's chicken soup.

i wonder if he was intentionally playing a movie with a plot about a "crazy lady" so he could bring up how "crazy" wen yi fan's been acting the past few nights. hmmm.

it kinda worked that way, though, because with the example of the unhinged lady on tv, there's now some exposition about dual personalities... and... sleepwalking.

she knows all of this because she used to sleepwalk, sang yan. whew. im glad she got that out quick (and that she had the courage to be honest to him this time).

his expressions zip in and out of being worried and wanting to tease her (a word from the tff fandom i picked up is "confrontease," which i think is right on the money for the way sang yan deals with wen yi fan).

he tells her that he's seen her sleepwalk twice now. and the second time was traumatic for him because.. "you suddenly ran over, hugged me, and even... kissed me on the cheek."

wen yi fan is suddenly blushing (it's from the hot chicken soup okkk hihi).

sang yan obviously didn't think his LIES through, because when reporter wen yi fan was suddenly asking some hard-hitting journalistic questions (where did i kiss you?? with our height difference, doesn't that seem improbable?), he's now the one that's flushed 🥵

pressing on, she asks him to reenact the "kiss". goodness. this scene. the tension. when she tiptoes, and he lowers his head.. and they were finally eye-to-eye, lips and noses almost touching.... the slo-mo treatment, the music, the way everything else faded around them, so it's just them (and yearssss worth of loving and longing and pining for each other). SWOOOOON.

i think we fast forward a little bit, because it's now april 4, qing ming fest (which is tomb sweeping day). wen yi fan wakes up very early to visit her dad's grave. she promises her dad she'll take care of herself (come through on this promise, wen yi fan!)

late that night, we see wen yi fan alone at the dinner table, and she's been crying again. and it's not just because of the heaviness of the day. it's all her life's sadness being let out in one big wooshhh.

sang yan's bought her chicken soup. and for the first time, he tells her honestly "the soup is especially for you" (i didn't accidentally buy extra this time. this soup is for you. because i know you've been sad, and because you've been sad, you've been sleepwalking. so please, let me in. let me help).

he closes the balcony doors, too, to keep her from the cold.

huhu. and when wen yi fan says thank you to sang yan, he couldn't even look at her directly (i think it's because he couldn't bear seeing her in such obvious pain).

wen yi fan is sleepwalking again tonight, and sang yan is there for her, ready this time... ready to.. protect her against sharp corners and falling lamp shades (im trying to be funny here. but sang yan in this scene. huhu. her light. her protector.)

and this time. she really does kiss him. and, again, he doesn't quite know how to react (he probably wasn't envisioning their first kiss to be like this!!).

so he resorts to teasing her again, although now he knows that she can't hear him. "i can't stand being taken advantage of. this time you owe me."

AND! he calls her wen shuang jiang again for the first time since their reunion.

AND AND! i think this is the first time BJT's song from the soundtrack is played ("invisible person"…which is so apt for this scene. he's here with/for her, yet she doesn't see him.)

epilogue. sang yan visits wen yi fan's dad's grave. he asks him "all these years, has she been happy?"

the look viktor gave him was incredulous, bright copper eyes staring ( accusatory, stern ) at the other scientist.

" we spend day and night in one another's company and you expect me to believe that ? " he chides, gathering his papers into a neat stack with a satisfying little tff tff as he thumps the bundle against the bench -- promptly lifting them to lightly swat jayce's head with it.

" look -- you've given at least a dozen three's an extra notch to them, they don't even look like numbers anymore. "

and with that viktor's grabbing his crutch, deciding for them that they were indeed taking a break. " come on, let's have some lunch. "

Yes yes yes to every word!

I am a sucker for ride or die couples, for codependent couples, for MLs who cannot function without their FLs but it has to make sense. They have to be able to exist in some universe.

I don't think I've seen a drama this badly fumble its characters and demonstrate such utter lack of understanding of its own story since the online ending of Tender Light (the CCTV one was fine.)

I can't remember if you watched The White Olive Tree but that is a great example of how to make the dynamic consistent and one that makes sense throughout from beginning to end.

We actually had the heroine freak out in the middle of a relationship and break it up but everything made sense - not just her reaction (because I actually think WYF's reaction of running away here makes sense well enough) but all the aftermath - both ML understanding but refusing to now make the first move of any kind (she is the one who now chases him) but also why he wants her still/takes her back - because her actions demonstrate why the past freak out won't recur but also because his own demons have quieted enough that he thinks they will never be in a situation where she'd have to make a choice she did before (date him and risk losing him or break up with him) AND he is shown as a very very damaged man and she's the one who quiets the demons in his head (and yet, he still expects more in a relationship and from a partner than supposedly functional SY.)

Side note - Olive also hits something that TFF forgets which is it's not a good thing when ML is so codependent he will take anything or need FL to breathe or w/e - no healthy person should/could be like that. By the end of that narrative, he cannot function without her sure but it's not a glorious thing, it's because he has extreme PTSD! It's portrayed as a tragedy! Why is SY not able to apparently function without WYF to such a degree he will overlook anything? He's not a torture and war zone survivor like...give me an explanation that makes sense!!!! He wasn't even like that earlier in the drama!

Actually, perhaps an even better comparison is Derailment - where once again we have a pair of high school sweethearts and then she peaces out on him seemingly for no reason and they reconnect years later. And ML loves her so utterly (and honestly it makes more sense for him - she was the one bright spot in high school and the reason he wasn't freaking homeless and starving!) but while he's helping her very much, he still wants to know WHY he gets ANGRY he has a life with friends of his own etc etc. And when he finds out about her trauma and the twists, he's distraught for her but he's also distraught for them. He's allowed his negative emotions, his own inner life. That relationship sometimes got dysfunctional and angry and because of that it made sense, the happy ending made sense.

In real life, no matter how much you love somebody, YOU are the center of your story, you see everything through that lens. You may feel you shouldn't express your anger or disappointment or talk it out (though it's healthy to do so and if you don't the narrative better explain why) but you should FEEL it at least.

The thing that drives me extra insane is that all of this is so easily fixed. They just needed a few more minutes and some additional conversation.

Why aren't you guys discussing SHE RAN AWAY WITH NO WARNING FOR SEVEN MONTHS first and foremost like...

this should be number one topic before ANYTHING

I realize that people are different and I should not be imposing my own standards on others but how do you even trust and have a functional relationship with someone who can just randomly run and peace out at any time? YOU CAN'T. You need to work it out first and get some sort of believable confirmation that the tendency got fixed.

this playlist really caught my eye this week because we just got the new tears for fears cd (yeah we still buy those, and pretty regularly, as my partner not only likes to support the artists but he claims cd quality is the best? maybe he’s right, i don’t know, discuss it amongst yourselves). anyway.....my favorite song on this cd has the word man in the title and it got me thinking of this playlist.

i mean, who’s gonna say no to that, amiright? 

so i jumped into our youtube library and saw that this man list of songs we started quite a while ago was actually pretty much finished, and once i added the aforementioned tff song, we would be good to go. done and done. i could go on my mini holiday with this bad boy all wrapped up and set to run without any complications. now i could focus on downloading a few new podcast episodes to listen to on the flights, of which this redheaded gent features....

i don’t know. i think he’s at least part sea jelly. and i do highly recommend his podcast. it’s super fucking charming.

and that, as they say, is that. and the fact that i got all this accomplished many days in advance and wouldn’t have to make @theoldsmelly do any extra work, which we all know he is loathe to do, had him high fiving me and saying...

tff thoughts, ep4 (rumors | ill dispel the rumors for you)

back in HS, wen yi fan is the subject of gossip, but she chooses to ignore them. sang yan is the one annoyed for her.

it's PE/track class, and we have another cute, flirty moment between our two dorks (are you secretly following me? nope, im following you openly. so are you pacing me? no, you're actually my pacer). my heart cannot tolerate this cuteness.

present day. sang yan has done some furniture shopping. hmm. but just the other day, wasn't he moping about how he's lost money for house repairs, and that overtime wasn't really earning anything? (so, how loaded is this guy? hahaha. to the internet people who believe sang yan is an evergreen, he's not. he's a bum who mooches off his parents' wealth. lol. ok, so we dont really know how sang yan earns his money. and im just really, really nitpicking here. we all know he's perfect, and we'll always approve of him taking care of wen yi fan).

for example, buying her adorable cat (Dian, who doesn't get enough screen time) a cool new cat tree (wen yi fan, it's a bundle deal with discount, ok? dont worry about it).

also, the movers call him her boyfriend (sang yan, did you tell them she was your girlfriend? ahihi. they can't have just assumed that).

his world is briefly (happily) turned upside down when she sends him back money for house expenses (520), which (i had to research this), in chinese, is a homophone for 'i love you.' (also, is sending voice notes really that common in china?)

he finds her lack of math skills adorable. cutieeessss.

we get a peep of jealous-sang yan today. you see, wen yi fan's childhood friend, xiang lang, will soon be making an appearance. and so. he. must. be. thwarted.

sang yan immediately takes over planning wen yi fan, siqiao and xiang lang's night out, and reserves a table for them at overtime. he's so magnanimous, he's also throwing in a roommate discount (a generous 1%).

in the office, wen yi fan is the subject of cruel gossip again. we also learn that when she was working in yihe (before moving back to nanwu), her boss's wife came after her, believing that she was his mistress. of course, none of this is true. our girl was and is just trying to work her ass off, ok??? her officemate, su tian, urges her to clear her name, but wen yi fan thinks that defending herself is useless. people just believe what they want to believe.

if the day weren't stressful enough, wen yi fan bumps into her step sister, and clearly, there's no love there.

little by little in this episode, we see how her loneliness has run so long and so deep. plus.. it's snowing, so she's missing her dad extra today (her nickname, shuang jiang was given to her by her father, because she was born on the day of the first frost). they used to watch the snow together.

meanwhile, our resident bum sang yan also watches the snowfall, looking over wen yi fan's balcony, worried that she hasn’t returned home yet.

they establish (or he imposes) a new house rule, if either's still out after 10pm, they'd have to text each other. it's called mutual respect between housemates.

rumors is the theme of this episode, so who should be at home with sang yan today but duan jiaxu, rumored to be the other half of the campus-heartthrob-duo of nanwu U? lols.

sang yan is the one in clear violation of their roommate agreement about bringing people over. but, wen yi fan has a magnanimous heart, too, and lets this one slide.

fast forward, it's finally thursday! wen yi fan, siqiao and xiang lang's nigh out! sang yan is restless as a bee. plotting and scheming.

everyone, now including su haoan, is having dinner together. a nice (totally not awkward) nanwu high reunion!

in the car, xiang lang asks sang yan if he knew before moving in that wen yi fan is going to be his roommate, and he answers "yes, that's why i decided to move in." territory marked.

epilogue. high school mean girls being mean to wen yi fan because she's taking up the whole dance studio. sang yan rushes in to defend her last 10 minutes in the space, and makes googly eyes at her again (because she really loved to dance, and to him, she's most beautiful when she does the thing that she loves).
