In 2011, I started writing a thing, on a whim. In 2013, I finished it. A lot of people seemed to love it? Then over the next decade, I put a lot of work into expanding and editing it, with plans for a complete physical book release that didn't happen. Well, here it is again. As an internet novel. A finished novel, this time.

I will start posting the story on May 21st, 2024. May 22nd will be a day of rest. And then, from May 23rd until October 21st, every day will see a new chapter-- a new log. ("F-Five months?? How long is this novel?" Oh yeah, good point. That won't actually get us to the end. There may be another eight, ten days of chapters afterwards. It is important, however, to emphasize the May 21 - October 21 model.)

I will make sure to put the bulk of the contents under "Read More" breaks, so each log won't clutter your browsing experience.

The logs will have art in them. Not as much as in the original draft, but there will still be some. As of May 1st, I expect art by Rappu, RealaChao, Wiratomkinder, and Vis.

I plan on supplementing the logs with the occasional post talking about the making and intention of the story. I dunno, it's gonna be a five-month distribution period, I'm gonna get antsy during that and am gonna want to ramble. That'll be separate content, though.

And when the story is fully and completely posted on tumblr, I will release the full novel on my Website, where I like to keep the rest of my creations. Both the tumblr novel and the Website novel will be free reading, forever. I reserve the right to try again at a paid physical edition afterwards.

So! That's it. Rapture is coming. OH GOD THE RAPTURE IS BURNING is coming.

The North Woods Project/AlexHenderson100 Archive

Somewhat recently the most accurate archive of the former Slender Man/Fear Mythos series The North Woods Project, also known as AlexHenderson100. This archive was linked on the Fear Mythos wiki's article on the subject and had what was believed to be every video in the series catalogue. There's another one on the internet archive, however there's only 14 videos in that one while I remember there being at minimum 70 videos in the aforementioned. I feel like Phobos would need some sort of charisma to achieve what he created with Project Nexus and to have people continue it after his death. I don't think fear is a good motivator in Nevada. He explicitly doesn't fully grasp the Machine and the Employers, but I feel he once had genuine conviction in seeing Nevada prosper. But that quickly warped into seeking power to elevate himself to where he could have Nevada in his own hands.

If you've dehumanised existence to the point of it being merely a tool, coupled with seemingly having "control" over the most powerful and integral plane of existence (the Other Place; think of it like. we found out Hell is real and we can harvest power from it), AND you directly entertained powers greater than yours, it'd definitely uh. well definitely warp a person if they didn't have the strongest moral convictions.

Obviously, this whole project was brought about because the Employers wanted something (most likely for the people of Nevada to work out how to make clones for them; I imagine the Machine can't exactly "create life"), but there must've been a reason they chose Phobos, on top of him being a G01 Nevadean.

Speaking of, that would make Phobos very old... makes me wonder if he's slowly cultivated people/settlements under his 'banner'. What that banner would be I'm not sure. Maybe he always had a gut feeling that there was something 'more' to existence, that there were powers unseen throughout all of Nevada.

Considering he's a G01, maybe he was one of the first to encounter the potential to come back from the Other Place. Hmmmm.

oh hey, didn't see you there. so I've updated my Website with a piece of once-lost media. above is the link to the page for Viceking's Graab, which includes the essay Else He's Called No Name At All: Breaking the Silence on Viceking's Graab. remember that one? where I talked for a long time about what, why, and how I made the Graab. the essay is not totally exhaustive, though it does cover way more than I had ever publicly disclosed before. there's a whole section (Section VI- The Hidden Surprises) that just flat-out gives away the Graab's original video content, yeah that's right I gave away the good stuff! but I could not show you the Credits video, as it does not exist.

I still can't show you that, as it still does not exist. but I did actually find my damn storyboard for the video, the only extant proof that we at RND Media intended on making it. the storyboard even clarifies some things I had forgotten.

so. so I've gone and added the storyboards into the necessary section of the essay on the Website.

and here, I'll show you them too.

god, man. it really would have been the greatest possible ending for a Slender Man thing. the ending to all slenderblogs and vlogs. the ending to the whole damn mythos. I mean, at least, it would have been the ending to my career as a Fearblogger. that was the plan. this literally was gonna be one last blow-out, a grand farewell. so while it's sad that video did not get made (and the Graab's ending was instead more enigmatic), perhaps it's also a good thing. I am rather happy to still be making blogs.

(the music for the video would have been Coldplay's "X&Y" during the funeral, leading into a 'jump scare' cut into Genesis's "Duke's End" for the dancy bit. read the essay! seriously! there's good insight!)

they are all FAR from done. keep in mind these are all just my initial concepts and i plan to do in-depth design sheets as i go to explore their designs more.

(also au context: the magnus mythos is an au where the entities are all gods, similar to various religious mythology, rather than paranormal entities that feed on fear)

The Web - God of Fate (she/it): im pretty happy with her design atm, shes meant to be a half spider half woman thing and i love that for her. shes probably the one ive thought the most on so far given her importance to the story. i want her to wear silks and shiny silver jewelry that just sparkles like wet spiderwebs do, not sure if im gonna keep the veil?

The Dark - God of the Dark (she/he/it): probably my weakest concept at the moment. it doesnt do the dark any justice. i mean i like the cloak idea but i want them to be very tendrilly, all consuming, shadowy, but i dont know how to properly portray them :/

The Desolation - God of Destruction and Fire (they/it): i have a neat vision for them! i want them to be made of coal and ash and smoke, to be burning and glowing on the inside, and their body is decorated with melted wax to look like clothes. not quiiiiiite sure about how their melty candle dress is now? i want it to be less constrictive

The Stranger - God of the Unknown and the Whimsical (he/she/they/it): it's meant to be this. weird wirey creature hidden behind masks and a lot of fabrics, like the framework of a poseable plush doll? i like the way the masks look but im not so sure about the body.

The Vast - God of the Above (she/he/they/it): im not so sure about his design at all im gonna be real. i want them to look like the atmosphere and be covered in clouds and have mountains for feet and an ocean cape but i feel like it might be a bit?? idk??? im just not that happy with it :/

The End - God of Death and Time (they/it): ugh i love this concept sm, making death read as less scary and more divine is so fun. theyre based on a seraphim and a sand timer,

The Buried - God of the Underneath (she/he/they/it): ANOTHER OF MY FAVORITES!!!! i love them. theyre inspired by hermit crabs!! and they have silver chains holding their shell to them. they look so endearing with their lil lopsided eyes ;; <3

The Flesh - God of the Body and Meat (she/he/they/it): i have so many ideas for the flesh y'all- im very excited to do a concept sheet for them. theyre meant to have no skin, just exposed bone and muscle, large limbs, hooves, exposed heart underneath a ribcage, teeth that close around their abdomen. white bandages that wrap around like clothes. a teeth/horn crown? i dont quite know whether to go for a more animalistic look or a more human one? like- theres so many ways to go with him idek!!!

The Hunt - God of Predators and Pride (they/it): see, i like this design but i feel like its too werewolf like? yknow? thats cool!! but itreads more monster to me than God :/

The Corruption - God of Nature, Rot, and Disease (she/they/it): i love this weird bug thing. this one i was really inspired for (mostly because. corruption aligned. so obviously im gonna think about this one alot) theyre this weird bug thing, the veil is inspired by the one from the art on the wiki! i want to maybe make them a bit more gross and weird because nature is like that sometimes, a moot on tiktok suggested that i add animal bones!! and i think thats SO smart im absolutely going too

The Spiral - God of the Incomprehensible (it/its): this weirdo is so hard to pin down istg. i imagine them as this spiral thing. body is kindof liquidy, arms are spindly and long, multiple shifting faces, overall just constantly changing and moving and like!!! how am i meant to draw that??? when my brain cant even wrap my head around what its supposed to look like yknow??? bruh jrdbhgfjdldgfh- that being said i think the main problem with the design is that it just gives me too many Michael vibes!!! is it the hair? the arms? its probably both.

The Lonely - God of Solitude and the Self (they/it): i like what this one has going so far! theyve got fog hair, fog tears, their body is meant to be splotchy like turquoise marble, i vibe with it so hard. not so sure what to do with their outfit tho :/

The Slaughter - God of War (he/they/it): another one of my more stronger designs i think! centaur with weapons sticking into them, face concealed, medieval armor and antlers- it vibes

the extinction isnt drawn because i literally have no idea what they should look like aside from color palette-

once again any and all suggestions will be taken!!!! i need ideas!!! plese!!!!

honestly if i couldve changed one thing about my contributions to the fear mythos i woulda pushed harder on the smiley redesign like.  it’s supposed to evolve a bit after it’s first introduced (since the initial point is it’s shaped by some stupid high school kids).

but alas

might’ve talked a bit more about its like.  key feature too since i think ‘a smile wider than his face’ got misinterpreted a few times as just like.  a glasgow grin.  when i envisioned it as way more body horror-y than that (since you know me i fuckin love body horror)

i do go a bit more into it in the Unreleased Fearblog but you know that’s just languishing in my drive for all eternity

Purely Welsh myth but Arthur should've left Bendigeidfran's head where it was. Like bruh, you brought the misery upon yourself. Plus, I don't think I've seen a lot of lit exploring this aspect of the myth but I think it would be fun cuz it shows Arthur as being hubristic which does get glossed over I think.

Also, Geraint needs to be chucked off a cliff. I volunteer to do it.

And I don't think Guinevere / Gwenhwyfar was ever a goddess. There's nothing to suggest she was at all. That's silly. That's stupid.

Also, authors stop using Bedwyr for the Lancelot stand-in when u don't want to put him in. EDERN IS RIGHT THERE.

(This isn't a hot take but I have many bugbears either Marion Zimmer Bradley and have a deep, deep dislike for her work. She's just ehdjxjcjx)

Also, this is a Welsh myth thing but I guess I'm putting it in because Arthur does have Welsh gods in his retinue and has his roots in Welsh things but can we stop using Gwydion as a good guy, pls? He is a Bad, Bad man.

Also, Arthur was never a real person but a lot of the lads who got folded into the mythos are and that gets overlooked because we all want this king to be super fuckin real and for what? I think if we'd had evidence for a real Arthur then we'd have gotten it by now.

Also somebody pls write me a book about real irl cousins urien and peredur / percival. I need it like I need air.

Selene and Helios in my modern au 💜

They deserve appreciation too!

Me yapping about them and design choices for way too long 👇

All based on my headcanons, readings and some myths this is NOT a source of information

It's purely my personal world with its own magic system and original characters

Helios

Design :

I wanted him and Apollo to look different, it was easy style wise, both have very different taste and personality

Colors on the other hand, I started facing a challenge, I made Apollo primarily orange, black, some red and ofc lots of gold, all are inspired by the sun god aspect Phoebus, so what does that leave me with Helios? Who's the personification of the sun, I can't ignore those colors!

That's when it hit me, oceans

LEMME EXPLAIN

His home/palace is in the river Oceanus ( source : theoi, it's very good for quick infos on the gods, you won't find everything there but more in depth reading is not possible, I'm a college student lol!)

His wife is also Perseis an ocean nymph and daughter of the titan Oceanus

So, I decided to make his color palette and clothes beach inspired!

I think it really helps make him look very different from my Apollo : )

Don't ask what those shoes are, it's an attempt at drawing sandals I saw on Pinterest, I suck at drawing feet and shoes I tried 😭!

His hair I went for a sun ray shape

I tried to color his hair in a way that resembles the sun's flames, I'm not that great at coloring but I think I achieved a noticeable effect when he's next to my other god designs

The matching earring is supposed to represent the 3 siblings, moon Selene, sun Helios, dawn Eos, naturally they all share it!

The sun earring is also matching between Helios and Apollo ( I don't currently have a drawing of Apollo wearing it atm, that ear hasn't been drawn XD) I have them in a sort of mentor relationship

The eyebrow earring is just me being random-

The sun flowers on his pants is because one of his lovers turned to one ( he didn't turn her btw) it's a very fun and somewhat sad myth, I recommend reading it, Helios appears very peaceful in it?? JUST READ IT TRUST ME

Also yes, I did give him a tooth gap, yes he looks shorter than Selene

Personality:

The more I read about Helios, and the dialogue of the gods ( I spent days looking for the full thing because unfortunately not all of it is on theoi, I can happily say I succeeded 😎)

I gathered few things, one) his wrath and punishments are towards people he doesn't really know and are very mmm silly?? And are just turning people into animals with the exception of Odysseus

2 of the wrath myths we don't know why he was angry, and a Roman one he turned a huntress into a doe just because she compared the stag she was chasing to Helios in speed... Yeah it's really silly

On the other hand, a Roman myth you have Clytie, who was so jealous that Helios got together with Leucothoe, she spread rumors about her and got the poor girl killed, surprisingly to me, Helios didn't do anything to her, didn't even talk to her, he was deeply sad and just... Left her completely, she kept gazing at the sun not drinking or eating until she slowly transformed into the sunflower ( after I finished drawing I saw some say it's a heliotrope instead?? too late to fix that now lol, I know very little about flowers)

You can definitely say leaving her was the punishment, I mean it's certainly effective, but it's still weirdly civil of him to do

In the dialogue of the gods he has a conversation with Hermes where he has no issue talking badly about Zeus for requesting he makes the night last longer ( might post the full conversation since it isn't on theoi)

There are goofy fables too with Helios

In conclusion : I write Helios as a somewhat relaxed , funny god and a little reckless ( dialogue of the gods+ letting his son drive the chariot)

.. Finally why did I choose to give him a tooth gap and make him shorter? WELL.... to be real with you this is an inside joke between me and my best friend, I was listening to Hadestown, my favorite song how long?

One of the comments pointed out the line: how does the sun even fit in the sky?

And asked if they're fat shaming Helios- I can't explain to you why that comment made me laugh, legit can't

I ofc told my friend, then she started joking about Sol ( Roman god equivalent of Helios) sounding too cute

Thus was born, the joke that Helios is gigantic ( like the sun) but purposefully makes himself look smaller, why? Idk he just does and it's funny when he suddenly becomes big in all his glory ( if I were to design him in ancient times I'd probably do something too similar to @ kyleesarthell on tumblr, so I probably won't do that)

Selene

Design :

I wanted white to pop a lot in her design, I didn't want to go for a night or stars motif ( those I wanted to save for a Nyx design)

For that to happen I needed the majority colors to be on the darker side, I decided to go with dark blue ( saving purple for Nyx) and black

I tried at first to match descriptions of her cheeks and skin in general being blinding white and darker clothes, it didn't really work that well to me, I didn't feel like it shined enough, there was too much of it and the black clothes seemed to grab my eyes more

So I reversed it, I love how they worked here!

I wanted the hair to be relatively straight, I made the hair black and white shines underneath, trying to capture the dark moon dark reflecting the light differently for various shapes

Her eyes are described as black so I went with that ( even more differences from Artemis)

I gave her a jacket because she's sometimes said to wear a shining cloak, this is my way to modernize it a bit

Made her accessories gold not silver because, it fits more with this color palette, silver just wouldn't pop and it works towards my goal of making her and Artemis look different

Her crown is said to be a crescent moon that looks like bull horns, she's associated a lot with bulls and even some say she rides on them ( others say white horses) it's very cool so in my world it's white bulls!!

The gem is supposed to be the Moonstone, some say she wears it, I tried my best

Personality:

I noticed she seems to be bitter, specifically about her love life, a lot of texts she's bitter and talking about how you ( a woman like Medea) now will suffer in love like she does, and just I urge everyone to read those texts because it definitely shocked my previous image of her, this behavior is very frequent and she sure as hell doesn't seem happy with her lover being asleep imo

A surprising amount of texts focus on her love for Endymion, I didn't think it was this major to her, I'll definitely need to read up more on this myth because I'm starting to think him sleeping forever isn't her choice or at least she resents it???

She seems to have a hate love relationship with both Aphrodite and Medea

Aphrodite is definitely more complex ( based on the dialogue of the gods it seemed positive or civil unlike the other text of her mocking Aphrodite in glee while talking to Harmonia, very fascinating text! )

With Medea it seems more hate than love but she did send light at her wedding so... Idk

There's a whole section on theoi about some witches folklore regarding Selene, gist of it witches of Thessalian draw on Selene causing the lunar eclipse/ blood moon by extracting her blood, there's a text with quite the disturbing/sad text describing this, like damn I'd be bitter too if I were her tbh

She's not only bitter in my world btw, she's just the more reserved one is all

Helios is the older brother, he's more goofy and somewhat relaxed

She's the younger sister, more mature and holds grudges more, she can still have fun with her brother at times though and be very sweet to those she loves ( little too obsessive you could say)

Apollo and Artemis are a bit reversed

Artemis is the older one but she's very reactive and emotional, she's generally fun and only appears somewhat cold to mortals she doesn't know, even then it's not exactly cold as much as you can feel that she'll murder you for the slightest hint of disrespect!

Apollo is harder to fully describe but for the sake of this post, he's more mature and calm at times, his revenge is more calculated to maximize the pain ( Achilles is a whole example to me in this) he can have fun too though and is gentle!
