in which wei wuxian has a little outing with some of his friends and hes still living with the jiang and the outing is from evening to night. idk maybe theyre watching a movie. and his friends (lwj is there too and wx are 100000% in love with each other as per usual) ask wei wuxian how hes getting home bc theyre all getting picked up or have a car and he says yu ziyuan is making him go home on his own late at night via metro/subway. his friends get a little worried but he appeases their worries by cracking a joke or sm, also he knows martial arts and hes good at it and never leaves the house without a swiss knife or a switch blade. but lan wangji is not okay with it and everything wei wuxian says to try make things sound better honestly just worries him even more.
he offers to drop wei wuxian off at his house but he declines, not wanting to be an imposition. this makes lan wangji mad because wei ying can never be an imposition to him ever. wei wuxian gets all red and says he'll think about it.
in the end of their outing, lan wangji reminds wei wuxian of his offer, and wei wuxian declines saying,
"lan zhan its okay! ill be fine, i dont want to bother you i know its already past your little lan curfew. besides, i have a knife and i know how to use it nothing will happen to me!" he offers a winning smile to lan wangji, hoping he'll believe it and go home but he dosent.
wei wuxian is evidently tired too, especially after a long night and characteristic inadequate sleep and popcorn, a red bull and a granola bar fueling him the entire day. knowing him, wei wuxian would likely fall asleep in the subways and get home later than yzy demanded he gets home by an be in trouble.
"wei ying." he says sternly, a slight furrow in his elegant eyebrows, a squint in his eyes and thinnlt pursed lips.
"you are not bothering me. i would worry even if you had a gun."
wei wuxian chuckles, a lovely pink blush highlights his supple cheeks.
"alright lan zhan, take me home"

1. Hi can you find me some fics where
A) Wei Ying was shunned due to which he left and now he's found again and bought back into the fold by someone maybe lans or nie or someone and is still criticized by the Madam Yu in front of everyone n accused for something he wasn't even at fault for and then the others especially lans come to his defence. Would be best if it's Lan Qiren or Lan Zhan who tell Madam Yu off publicly.
B) Are there any fics where Wei Ying gets respected and rich without anyone else's interference like I want fics where Wei Ying earns all that cause of his own kindness and cause he's genius not cause of someone else or their help like people love him for who he is and this is like a tight slap to Madam Yu & Fengmian or anyone who belittled Wei Ying.
Thank you. These fics can be both modern or canon. @kan-chan-aqua
1A)
🔒 If you liked it then you should have put a (sect robe) on it by KizuKatana (T, 49k, WangXian, WWX & NHS, Canon divergent after Cloud Recesses lectures, Public humiliation (not the sexy kind), Sect posturing, no golden core transfer, Madam Yu and JFM’s A+ Sect Leadership, WWX joins the Nie) it's Nie who are defending Wei against Madame Yu and taking him under their wings, definitely recommend

🔒🧡 Truth Will Out (when caught on video) - End_OTW_Racism! by KizuKatana (E, 178k, WangXian, WN & WWX & WQ, Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Modern Cultivation, YZY Abuses WWX, But this time it's caught on video, Canon Divergence, Cultivators wear body cameras for training, Partial core removal but WQ makes sure there's a foundation left, WWX is expelled from the Jiang Sect, And ends up making money live streaming his nighthunts, meet ugly, Dual Cultivation, WWX goes viral, Pretty much all the bad stuff happens in the first 2 chapters, LWJ Has a Big Dick, And fucks a new core into WWX with it, While the Jiang Sect Crumbles, No war, Qi fucking, Found Family) works for 1B but, in this one, the Wens help Wei Ying sell his inventions.

15. Itmf/u know what'd b interesting? So many fics show jl hating wwx & the wen from stories, that Wen/wn were mindless beasts & wwx an active intelligent evil, that chose a dark path for selfish ends. But what if the stories told to jin Ling focused on wwx's purported madness (or he interpreted them as) that the great once hero was a tragedy that was helplessly lured to his own destruction by the malicious wen remnants & mindlessly used against his own loved ones? Something to be pitied, & respectfully stopped?
Instead of wwx being attributed with more agency than he had, that he was stripped of it. Because wen ruohan was a near immortal who studied resentful energy for decades, surely he would of taught his trusted advisors, his beloved loyal niece and nephew - a woman known to assist him in his studies and to effect how resentful energy effects the mind? (Wen ruohan was evil yet sane! They would say, because of her knowledge and actions!) And wwx, he was a prodigy, but he only studied resentful energy for a handful of yrs, in a time of great stress & scarcity. He obviously had no means or time to perfect it, or learn every trap! He was saving lives, inverting direct attacks on the battlefield. Not conducting academic studies for its more insidious effects. Did u not see how sick he was at the end of the war? How much he sacrificed and broke himself for us, for our cause? Of course he would be loyal and not sympathize with our enemies!
Obviously, the wen woman slipped our net. She snuck upon him, where he was weak and alone in some back alley where he should have been safe. That is our fault. She twisted his mind and his memories, creating debts that weren't there, for surely others would remember them! (Forgetting the jc was unconscious for days after the fall of Lotus pier, that jy was not permitted to speak). She stole our wwx away from us; turned against his own beloved brother & sister till he could not recognize them! He would never have lifted a hand to harm them! He was the best of us; so honorable and good! We could have no fault in his turning from us, it must be by the wicked wen's design. He is a poor tragic stolen knife, she had to be stopped & alas, he the dangerous weapon, destroyed. His memory honored. (He would never have wanted to harm us after all).
And bby jl grows up hearing these stories, doted on yet neglected by his many very busy uncles. bby jl does not resent his uncles for being busy, they're important sect leaders! He wants for nothing, they give him great presents! Sometimes even smiles and head pats! But he's often lonely and bored, most people emotionally distant due to his station. Jiujiu lives far away in lp and jl can rarely visit, uncle xichen even faaaarther, sect leader nie is kinda scary & nhs is weird & they never visit except for parties jl is too young to stay up for.
He's never met hanguang-jun, he's real sick & doesn't leave cloud recesses. His new aunt hasn't lived at koi tower very long and she and uncle guangyao r really busy with the new baby. Grandma never really let him play with them anyway when she was alive, and grandfather got mad the last time he was around 'making noise'. So when Jin Ling hears stories about his dajiu that his mama adored, who saved a bunch of kids with his dad from a suuuuper evil tortoise, that was nice and funny and smart and loved to play, and was super super loyal to his family, Jin Ling is ENCHANTED. He would love another uncle, esp a dajiu who would dote on him and follow him around constantly talking, that'd protect him from the bullies Jin Ling could totally handle on his own BTW that's why he never told anyone obvi - not cause no one would listen, someone who he could play with and hug him, who might tell him more about his mom & dad & never ever leave him alone in the silence? Well, Jin Ling WANTS. & jl always gets what he wants.
He grows up abstractly loving this dajiu he never met. Who feels more real and substantial & directly related to him than some sick uncle up a cold mountain he never met. (Uncle xichen is nice, but cool in everything he does, quick to leave, as if something about koi tower makes him uncomfortable, tho jl doesn't realize that no one else notices). [Perhaps lxc knows the truth from his brother - too late, & tries to preserve the peace for his secret nephew yuan?].
So when wwx comes miraculously back to life; Jin Ling is ecstatic. There is no complicated history for him here. While everyone else is like, 'oh no! The weapon has returned, however will we destroy it once more?!' Jl is hopeful. Without a master to control it, surely he isn't an active threat this time? There might be a bit of a problem with the guys' memories &/or brainwashing, but he saved those randos at the nighthunt!
So instead of hating and attacking the horrible yllz on sight, jl is like, ah yes magic second chance with uncle. I shall save him! Wwx is confused by this inexplicable turn of events. Bonus points if wwx's mind/memories r a bit messed up, but because of his resurrection, not something the wen did. With a backdrop of the same & new crimes/secrets being revealed by jl's good-natured meddling protectiveness. Jl: if I can adopt random puppies off the street, surely I can adopt my actual uncle?! Meanwhile jc is horrified and emotionally constipated, vacilitating between protective extremes of 'jl get back that could bite u' and 'oh no, despite common belief, maybe I COULD of saved my brother first time around'.
I'm picturing like a 8-10yr old jl, lz is still more in the hobbling stage of his recovery. Jc doesn't know how to deal with the idea his bro may have been married with a kid when he died (the former is also knows to wwx, but at this point no one is treating him as a reliable source of information) & is already upset he couldn't get partial custody of jl that he doesn't get to see enough of & now finds out about a whole other secret nephew he could of been doting on. Lxc smells a cover up but he's not sure who (in his & other's sects) were in on it or legitimately fooled, & theorizes that wwx may have been felled by a slow acting resentful poison from wrh in the final battle than malice from the remnants, who MIGHT have been actually helping him, if only as a ploy for self-preservation anywhere a jl who wants to save wwx from himself instead of destroy him at first sight would be interesting.
Maybe in this au lz is kinda a protective cornered animal due to trust issues, lxc is also protective but weilding politics like a double edged sword. Was lz hurt I'm punishment or deliberately targeted by the conspiracy to allow better access to wwx? Maybe an over the top punishment to sneaking out to try to see wwx ('protect him for his own good') that left him vulnerable to attack

lan zhan who takes things too literally and struggles with tone my beloved
modern au
lan zhan is 14. he's spent all his time in a private boarding school. his grades are phenomenal but he struggles socially. no one excludes him. not intentionally at least. lan zhan is hard to approach and he doesn't make an effort to approach anyone.
he thinks his fine. his uncle (a professor and administrator in the school) and brother (a few years older) disagree.
so, lan zhan is entering a public school. a charter and highly ranked public school ofc.
in his first day there, he sees the most beautiful and handsome bot lan zhan had ever come across. lan zhan always knew he was gay but wow. Unfortunately, the boy, wei ying, was clearly straight.
he and a group of his friends did a performance piece about acceptance and equality but he made sure to clearly state he wasn't part of that. lan zhn swallows his flourishing little crush.
at first, lan zhan is sure they wouldn't cross path. that was clearly wrong as wei ying had made it his goal.to befriend lan zhan.
the two were thick as thieves for the rest of their schooling, including college. lan zhan knew wei ying's first heartbreak, a lovely young girl who moved away their junior year. wei ying learned of lan zhan's first boyfriends. they were friends together through broken bones and wisdom tooth removals and many many relationships.
lan zhan's feelings for wei ying never really went away. he just got better at hiding it. after a third break up for the same reason (lan zhan prioritizing wei ying), lan zhan decided he needed to take a break from dating.
so now, at 23, lan zhan invites wei ying to go to pride together. when wei ying shows up with a bisexual flag lan zhan all but short circuits.
--
the song wei ying sung was the "I'm not gay but if i was, i would want equal rights. I'm not gay but if i were, i would marry who i like."
wei ying thought lam zhan just wasn't into him

An extension to the PIDW x Ever After High AU
The first post was pretty short so I'm going to put it here too.
For clarity, the 'parents' in this AU are the OG PIDW characters, and will go by their courtesy name, and the children are an AU version of them and have their birth name (so SQQ is the parent and SJ is the kid, YQY is the parent and YQ is the kid, LBG, is the parent, and  LBM is the kid, or at least a more mentally stable version of Bingmei? etc)
SJ is pretty much fanon SJ, and a very mellowed out version of him, since in this AU, he didn't end up as a slave. Still traumatized tho. I like my Shen Jius traumatized. Shen Jiu is Raven in this AU, and he DOES NOT like his destiny. That's putting it lightly. NO ONE is happy. YQ doesn't want to be forced to abandon SJ and go through a horrifying qi deviation in the Lingxi Caves. And have his little brother's severed legs be sent to him as a present one day, and walk to his death the next. Yikes. Liu Mingyu doesn't want to die prematurely and have his shixiong be falsely accused of his murder. And Binghe doesn't like it either because he had a better childhood too, and is, well, disturbed, by the shit his father did, and the fate that's written for him. Binghe has his issues and he's that one quote "My father is the worst man alive and I am his favourite son". Like he knows the shit his dad did was completely unhinged. Him and the Book of Legends bear most of his hatred, and he never really has anything against Shen Jiu.
Everything just sorta revolves around everyone finding out what kinda person 'Shen Qingqiu' really is, along with the defying destiny thing Ever After High had going on. All the kids are just getting along far better than any of their parents did. The other mxtx characters are in here too, Wei Ying, Lan Zhan, Wen Ning, etc.
LBG is totally going to be here too. He's acting all creepy towards SJ, like this mf is so close to tearing his off limbs too, and he's really tryna hold himself back. And he's fully planning to torture him too once his son puts Shen Jiu is the water prison because his SQQ is already dead. When he sees SJ in the flesh, he's eying him in a way that screams "I'm going to own you and there's little stopping me from having you in chains like your father." SJ is not so subtly hiding behind LBM, while LBM is so ready to fight his father to the death for SJ.
The OG PLs from PIDW will definitely have some fucking regrets and will try to make it up to SJ coz the person they actually wronged is long dead (or is he?). And the peak lord kids are running interference everytime their parents want to get close to SJ, with maybe the exception of SQH and LQG. OG! LQG is alive because. Well I'll think of smt later. Plant body revival????
QHT has a son and a daughter who are supposed to be QJL and QHT, as is their so-called destiny. During Legacy Day, the kid that's supposed to end up like QJL sees flashes of his uncle's life and ofc he'll end up seeing the abuse SQQ endured under him. It is at that moment, what really happened in the Qiu manor was revealed. QHT's son is actually a chill dude who hates his destiny too and hates his uncle even more. SJ and QHT's kids are cool with each other, and this pisses off QHT so much lol.
Now more onto SQQ.
This mf is ALIVE and KICKING. And by that I mean he absolutely did pull mushroom body getaway and did some serious demonic cultivator bullshit to animate his dead body like some voodoo god. LBG was straight up torturing a corpse lol. SQQ originally didn't want to sign either but decided to do it anyway because he knew LBG definitely wanted to. SQQ thought that he should legitimately try to kill him so he doesn't turn into that. SQQ knew that ofc he would ultimately die in the end, but thought his villain halo could still try to do some damage to LBG, and to prevent his rise to power, and work against the destiny he signed at the same time. Obviously, the protagonist still had to come out on top and SQQ failed miserably. So. Mushroom getaway>>
Listen, those mushrooms were obviously supposed to be used in the OG PIDW. and somehow weren't iirc. And it was supposed to be used by a villain. So yes, SQQ's generation does end up being PIDW complacent. Except SQQ is a smartass and is living his life away from any destiny bullshit rn.
SJ/LBM will reunite with SQQ.
SQQ will end up liking LBM but he's still a mother hen, so he'll be giving him a really hard time before he's ready to let him anywhere near his son.
SQQ was separated from his son until this point. The name SQQ meant to give him was Jiu, as in turtledove. Which has this whole meaning of 'enduring love'. He meant for SJ to not turn out like him and to live out his best life despite what life throws at him. I absolutely love the fics where the author makes the Jiu in Shen Jiu be the character for turtledove. And with SQQ-J taking care of his younger self in a way. SQQ and SJ are going to have the fluffiest father-son relationship because I deem it to be so. Unlike LBG and LBM, my badd:/ Have fun with those daddy issues, buddy.
Within the chaos that is SQQ's mind, he really did not regret doing what he did to LBG, but y'know, having some time to himself while he was on his sabbatical, he learnt a few things about himself, and how he used LBG's future self to justify trying to kill smn who otherwise didn't do anything wrong (yet). And the fact that things could've turned out better if he truly went with his heart and hadn't signed the book like his son will HAUNT HIM. Sure LBG may or may not have wanted his destiny but SQQ definitely didn't!! He could've fucked up his story by not signing it just the same!! This is totally not eating him up alive!! Yup!! He just haddddd to sign it and thought be could kill LBG to avoid future devastation. Said future devastation still came to pass lol. RIP SQQ's sanity, I truly feel for you.
Let me make this worse. LBG didn't want to sign it either and was peer pressured into doing it. He genuinely thought he could reason with SQQ after Legacy Day and tell him he really didn't want them to hurt each other. And he was so sure SQQ felt the same way, he could've sworn they were on the same page- but then he saw how determined SQQ was to sign the Book of Legends on Legacy Day. And when SQQ's hardened gaze locked in on LBG, he met SQQ's eyes, promising a future of pain for them both. LBG ignores the way his heart shatters at the resolution.
Look, enemies to lovers BingJiu is fine and all, but consider LOVERS to ENEMIES BINGJIU!!! I'm just imagining BingJiu animatics in head with Taylor Swift's Bad Blood egckfxv.,
Coz yes, even the prev B9 gen totally had smt going on. Too bad for them tho, it ain't happening.
The rest is stuff from the first post >>>
Imagine how fucked up it would be if Shen Jiu is up there doing the book signing ceremony that seals his destiny of becoming the next 'Shen Qingqiu', and the mirrors display him getting thrown away by his martial siblings at the trial, and his limbs being torn off and other despicable tortures, and being brought down so low that your humanity is stripped away from you, all for an audience to see. And they cheer. The crowd is ecstatic, perhaps even more so than when his father, Shen Qingqiu, was put on trial.
Shen Jiu x Pain is my favourite ship, can you tell??
Shen Jiu is barely 15 when this happens and every goddamn person is reveling in this child getting tortured. Amidst the sea of people who loathe him, there is one person not advocating for his death, and that is LBH’s son!! The very person that’s supposed to kill him!!! When LBM sees the same hopelessness that he feels in SJ’s eyes, he decides at that moment that he will be SJ’s number one defender. Everything else be damned. When SJ announces that he will not be pledging to a life of misery, LBM gets up on that stage and makes it clear that he won’t either.
OML I did smt cool. You see the parallel I just fucking made wowwwwww.

Wei Wuxian's complex relationship with love
Ah, Wei Wuxian, such a heartwarming character, where to start? Probably we should start recognising him as a complex character, with questionable actions despite having good motives. Yes, I do love him and I'd be glad to babygirl him, but as loving his motives are, Wei Wuxian is capable of immense violence and cruelty, not your typical pure white MC. And tbh, I think that makes him better. Because he's not the type to evangelise every single enemy, or cry out "we're the same"; he recognises vileness off from salvation, he gives in to his human nature and his desire to avenge his loved ones, to get "justice", to honour his grief. He's not "the bigger person" who sucks it all. But truthfully, he's not blinded by rage either. He's perfectly able to recognise people that are worth of salvation, and even to protect them against the "righteous" leaders and cultivators. And let's be honest, the spiritual refinement world is full of hypocrisy. Most of the "pure and righteous" characters are also morally gray and even leaning black. As Jiang Cheng rightfully said, they would praise Wei Wuxian (and anyone) or call him vile depending on their own interests.
And understanding Wei Wuxian's nature, allows to understand his emotions, which are actually the main drive of his throughout the story.
I wasn't sure if I should start to talk about his relationship with Lan Zhan, or his adopted family. But the former leads to the later, so let's start there.
Now, I know a big portion of the fandom might not like what I'm about to say, but that's just how I honestly perceive Wei Wuxian's feelings and emotional state.
To begin with, for me it's clear that during his first life, he was absolutely not in love with Lan Zhan. Moreover, the idea didn't even cross his mind. He thought Lan Zhan was good-looking? Well, yes, as anyone else who had eyes. He liked to bother Lan Zhan? Ofc. But Wei Wuxian was a prankster, and it just happened he found Lan Zhan's tight attitude the funniest. He might have wanted to become friends with Lan Zhan, but I don't see any trace of romantic feelings developing on his side during that lifetime. Like, Lan Zhan wasn't even a part of his mind tribulations when he had to make hard decisions, unlike Jiang Cheng and Yanli were, or the remnants of the Wen Clan.
This is proven in how, now in his second life, he shows no emotional response to seeing Lan Zhan again. He honestly thinks it's a nuisance and tries to get out of Lan Zhan's way; all his initial attempts to make Lan Zhan sick of him are genuine and he honestly believes Lan Zhan would be repulsed by his "flirt" because, well, he's dense AF, and also because on his mind, at that moment, a romance between the two of them would be repulsive.
Now, I need to say I find Wei Wuxian to be a textbook demisexual person, and one that tries so hard to convince himself to be aromantic. I don't think he's attached to a specific genre, of course, but it's obvious that during his first life he was leaning more towards physically preferring females. He is said to have always *enjoyed* looking at beautiful women for more time than necessary. And we know his interests in heterosexual eroticism. But I don't think he was honestly *wanting* to get sex during his first life. He would've gotten it, as easy it was for someone talented, famous and good looking as him. I think Wei Wuxian was attracted to physical beauty the way an aesthete is attracted to art; to admire, to find pleasure in contemplation. I think his interest in eroticism was likewise; more like an understanding and learning process, like a study, rather than simply being horny.
About his romantic feelings, and here comes the core of the analysis, he convinced himself he can't fall in love. He tells Jiang Yanli he can't even understand why someone would fall in love. The truth behind it? Wei Wuxian doesn't feel safe enough to fall in love, and therefore convinces himself he can't.
But, oh, he does love, and so intensely. Because the love he felt for his siblings, and later on for Wen Ning, Wen Qing and the rest of the Wen remnants, is in no way weaker than romantic love. He told Yanli that he sees no value in falling in love because it's like putting a collar in one's own neck, because it makes you vulnerable and dependent; but how is his love for his family (both of his found families) any less than that? Wasn't exactly that love what became his greatest vulnerability, and because of that love that he went down the "dark" path? Wei Wuxian loves, indeed, and very strongly so. More strongly than any other character in this novel, perhaps Lan Zhan included. Because, on top of all, Wei Wuxian's love is not greedy.
But he fears vulnerability, and I think it comes from a deeper place. What Wei Wuxian truly fears is not being attached to someone, or sacrificing everything for them. He doesn't hesitate to put his loved ones over himself. What he truly fears, and ironically happens to him over and over, is losing the ones he loves. And given his background, it's understandable. Wei Wuxian was a child that lost his parents at a very very young age, I think around 4-6 years maybe. He was alone in the world, walking the streets in search of survival, even fighting for scraps of food with dogs (where his immense fear for them came from). This was a child that suffered solitude and the dark side of a classist world: full indifference. It wasn't until Jiang Fengmian found him and took him to the Lotus pier that someone dared to look at him and recognise his existence. But even there, he faced rejection; Jiang Cheng's, Yu Ziyuan's. Probably some of the other disciples and servants too, at the beginning. Now, while I don't blame Jiang Cheng (he was a child that knew no better than to give in to his insecurities, the ones that were hugely fed by his mother), I do think Yu Ziyuan played an important part in making Wei Wuxian feel that he had to earn whatever love that came to him. Her motivations, jealousy, even ruined her otherwise comfortable marriage and put too much stress on Jiang Cheng, but that's another story.
In the Jiang Clan, Wei Wuxian eventually found a family and unconsciously, gave and received love. It was easy at that point, because he was so young he didn't even notice, but also because he never imagined there would be a time he could lose it again. And this is why he makes a difference between this love (platonic, familiar) and falling for someone (romantic) as a weakness. Let's say, he concluded that his parents, alone and errant, who became that way precisely for (romantic) love, were vulnerable. But a whole clan? That was a different thing, that was a strong foundation, no vulnerability there. Hence, romance puts you in a position of losing, while other types of love don't. The truth? He lost his found family too.
And as it went on, he didn't even realise how much he loved the Wen remnants until he was already deep into it. It wasn't until the day they celebrated Wen Ning regained his consciousness that he allowed himself to feel "at home" again. And what happened then? That he felt he was, again, walking on a steady ground. They now had Wen Ning, he felt he couldn't lose control. He thought he wouldn't lose them. Probably even so, he didn't realise how much he truly loved them until Wen Ning and Wen Qing sacrificed themselves for him. And once again, he lost his loved ones.
So, at the moment of his death, Wei Wuxian had found and lost too many people he loved, though he ironically convinced himself not to experiment romance precisely not to be in such a position. My point is, his rejection was not to romance per se, but to the (wrong) notion he had that romance was the specific type of love that puts you in a place of losing. And this whole mess makes it hard for him to properly process romantic feelings.
Another important aspect of all this is how Wei Wuxian processes *being loved*. Because of his young age, he most likely doesn't truly remember how it felt to be loved by his parents, having almost no memories of them (and the only one he had is an important reinforcement for later). What he does remember is how it felt being rejected and lonely, abandoned. When Jiang Fengmian takes him home, Wei Wuxian doesn't know what to expect, doesn't know what to do. He feels gratitude, of course, but he is also fearful he's gonna get thrown out. Because he doesn't know what it is like to be loved and treated with care, and therefore he doesn't know he's deserving of that. Adding Madam Yu's resentment towards him and classism, we have a child that most likely thinks love is not something that's just simply handed to someone, something unconditional (at least not for him). But Jiang Yanli changes this notion in him (and eventually Jiang Cheng too) because she cares for him for no reason at all, just because she feels like it. She's such an important figure in Wei Wuxian's life and development because she's the first person whose love for him he truly and fully processes and accepts. The fact that he's emotionally attached to the soup she made is a big confirmation of this; he treasures that soup because it is the soup he ate the first time he felt loved; when Yanli took him and Jiang Cheng back home, when she saved him from the (imaginary) dogs. And Yanli was the first person (in his mind) to do so. But these feelings, the gratitude and tenderness he felt, the care and gentleness he received, happens in an environment of family, and since this is Wei Wuxian's first contact with love (consciously) this will greatly influence how he interprets such feelings and actions in the future. And also happens that, then again, because of the environment and the words he hears all the time, Wei Wuxian feels like it's his duty and responsability to take care of Yanli and Jiang Cheng to "earn" and be worthy of their kindness. He feels he has something to give in exchange, and that that's the only way love works.
So, what does this have to do with Lan Zhan? Well, when Wei Wuxian awakes in his second life, after all the pain he went through, and all the rejection he faced, Lan Zhan is the only person that treats him right, that is gentle and that takes care of him. Wei Wuxian takes a long long time to process it, he's genuinely confused by this, but he eventually accepts that Lan Zhan somehow loves him. But his own feelings? Well, that's a lot more messed up. Because, this time, he not only is not the one taking care of others but he can't actually do so, he has nothing to offer in exchange. He can't *earn* what Lan Zhan gives him. He can only accept it. In his mind, this is not fair game and therefore it makes no sense.
I do think his love for Lan Zhan was born out of gratitude, and I think that's a good foundation. A romantic relationship would not sustain only out of gratitude, but real love can be born from there. Wei Wuxian's feelings slowly evolve from distrust, to confusion, to gratitude and to eventually affection and love, in the way his heart goes softer little by little.
Let's put this in context; for the first time (in his mind), someone is taking care of him although he can't offer nothing back; he's suddenly in a safe place (Lan Zhan protects him) and also he is not the one in charge to make it safe for others; ofc in this scenario he would eventually relax enough to start allowing himself to process his feelings unlike he did before, when he had to be on guard all the time.
Lan Zhan was not his family, not a member of his clan, had no reason to take care of him and definitely gained nothing from it, so it must have been truly confusing for Wei Wuxian, who believes love is an exchange. I think the warmth spreading inside Wei Wuxian at Lan Zhan's actions should have been disturbing to him as much as it is tender for us, lol.
And here comes the memory of his parents; that was a moment of comfort. He was so young that he most likely couldn't understand anything else, but he could feel comfort and safety while he was with his parents. And when does he gets that memory back? When he feels comfortable and safe with Lan Zhan. When he's so relaxed he started to question what he felt for Lan Zhan, and what Lan Zhan felt for him. But even though his unconscious self is finally connecting the dots and relating *that* love between them to the love that was between his parents (romance), the poor boy is so messed up he can't accept it in fear of losing it, until Xichen confirms it for him (and so aggressively so, because, really does Wei Wuxian not know? Can he be THAT dense?). But for Wei Wuxian, wasn't it too good to be true? He's such a traumatized person.
And after that, *finally*, everything is so easy. Some people say he became too spoiled after he started his relationship with Lan Zhan, what I believe is he simply felt safe enough to be his true self, and loved enough to ask for what he needed: love, care, understanding and company, unconditionally.
Wei Wuxian's love for Lan Zhan was not at first sight, instantly or "born out of nothing at all"; it's not the kind of "magic" love you wake up one day feeling and that they sell so often in romance stories, it's a very slow burn one that surges from actions and decisions. Of course, this also means his is not "a love that stands death and rebirth"; although it's true that he only fell romantically for Lan Zhan even if we count both his lives, it doesn't mean he actually loved Lan Zhan romantically during his first life; he didn't.
If Lan Zhan didn't love Wei Wuxian first, if he hadn't decided to be with him no matter what when Wei Wuxian reincarnated and decided to show his love to Wei Wuxian (in his own unique way, lol), I think Wei Wuxian wouldn't have fallen for Lan Zhan. Because, again, Wei Wuxian is a demisexual that wasn't attracted to Lan Zhan and fell later (unlike what happened to Lan Zhan); Wei Wuxian felt Lan Zhan's love, and out of that, he started reciprocating that love (unconsciously though) and *then* started feeling attracted to Lan Zhan.
So Wei Wuxian never understood why someone would want to put a collar on his own neck, he simply felt it. He was never unable to fall in love, he simply refused to give himself permission to, but love doesn't ask for permission.

Or: Nie Mingjue comes across Wei Wuxian before Jiang Fengmian and decides Nie Huaisang could use a friend.   A/N: Y'ALL I FORGOT 50 SHADES OF GREY EXISTED. Please note there is NO relation whatsoever to that dumpster fire of a "book." Title has been updated so there's hopefully no association anymore, because yikes.
NOTES: This was the first WY is adopted by someone else fic that I read and I immediately fell in love. You'll notice on this list I have a bunch in which the Nie's adopt WY and that is most definitely because I am SOFT for Mingjue. Something just hits different about single dad Mingjue and his two hot messes of children/siblings.

NOTES: This fic was surprisingly delightful! Yes there are intense moments of angst- ofc there would be with Wei Ying basically being adopted by the wens. But the boy is absolutely brilliant in this and the ending is lovely. Also, we get big sister Wen Qing which- MY HEART. What a BAMF.

Instead they find themselves at the door of Lotus Pier, in the middle of the night, wounded, and their son, their beautiful son, injured. Things did not go as planned. Maybe, because, it is time to change their plan. Maybe it is time to stop wandering, to stop running away from the man they hurt, maybe it's time to heal. Spanish translation is now available : https://archiveofourown.org/works/28693317 Russian translation is now available : https://ficbook.net/readfic/11789571
NOTES: letting you know In advance- the rest of the series is not complete HOWEVER, it is still worth it to read this fic as a standalone! This was such a cool story. Yes, WY is technically still with the Jiang BUT raised by his parents. There is some sneaky time travel(?) things, and demonic cultivation things, and ADORABLE baby wangxian. This was kind of wholesome with a bit of mystery. I truly hope the author completes the series because it is so wonderful.

Chapters: 4/4 Rating: Mature Relationships: Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji/Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Song Lan | Song Zichen/Xiao Xingchen Additional Tags: Alternate Universe, Romantic Comedy, of sorts, Cloud Recesses Study Arc (Modao Zushi), au where wwx was raised by Boashan Sanren, Idiots in Love, Developing Relationship, Accidental Marriage, Sharing a Bed, everyone's gay uncles sl and xxc, secret matchmaker lxc, Fluff, No War AU, Hand Jobs, lan wangji's fight flight or fuck instincts, the inherent horniness of sword fighting, Happy Ending Summary: Lan Wangji meets Wei Wuxian, rogue cultivator and disciple of Baoshan Sanren, and Lan Wangji is simultaneously annoyed and infatuated with him. “You are not here to be entertained,” Lan Wangji bites back. Wei Wuxian has the nerve to laugh. “I’m not here to learn either, I already know everything we’re going to be taught in these lectures. If you’re not going to entertain me, I’ll entertain myself, gege.” “Wei Wuxian!” Lan Wangji yells, barely maintaining his composure as his ears flame red. Wei Wuxian’s laughter rings through the Cloud Recesses and breaks about a dozen rules. “Call me Wei Ying, Lan Zhan, we’re going to be best friends!” Wei Wuxian replies, tugging at the sleeve of Lan Wangji’s robe with two fingers in a scissoring motion before he runs off in a flow of white robes and inappropriate laughter.
NOTES: If you love WY, chaos gremlin, you will LOVE this fic. This is the au in which WY is raised on the immortal's mountain and then makes his first appearance off of it at the lectures in cloud recesses. Bless Lan Wangji for his patience, RIP Lan Qiren's qi LOL It is a no war au with so much joy and romance.
5 Heart of the Beast (488986 words) by WaitForTheSnitch
Chapters: 109/109 Rating: Explicit Relationships: Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji/Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Nie Huaisang & Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Nie Mingjue & Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Lan Huan | Lan Xichen & Nie Mingjue, Nie Huaisang & Nie Mingjue, Jiang Cheng | Jiang Wanyin/Nie Huaisang, Lan Huan | Lan Xichen/Meng Yao | Jin Guangyao/Nie Mingjue, Lan Huan | Lan Xichen/Nie Mingjue, Meng Yao | Jin Guangyao/Nie Mingjue, Lan Huan | Lan Xichen/Meng Yao | Jin Guangyao Additional Tags: Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian Isn't Adopted by the Jiangs, Adopted Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian is a Nie, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Oblivious Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian Deserves Better, Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian Deserves Happiness, Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian Deserves Love, Protective Nie Mingjue, Scheming Nie Huaisang, Protective Nie Huaisang, Soft Nie Mingjue, Nie Mingjue is So Done, Nie Huaisang is a Little Shit, Pining Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji, Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji Has Feelings Summary: “Wei Ying?” Nie Mingjue prompted him gently. “Where are your parents?” “They went on a night hunt,” Wei Ying said, a bit evasively. “Your parents are cultivators?” Da-ge asked in surprise. “Did they leave you here while they hunted? When did they go on their night hunt?” “Four summers ago,” Wei Ying said a bit uncomfortable. “Four summers ago,” Nie Mingjue repeated. “What are your parents’ names?” “My mama is Cangse Sanren and my baba is Wei Changze,” Wei Ying told him, and recognition registered in Nie Mingjue’s eyes. “Wei Ying,” Nie Mingjue said, sounding a bit regretful, “Your parents aren’t coming back.” Or, Nie Mingjue and Nie Huaisang run into Wei Ying while in Yiling and decide to bring him home. And it changes everything.
NOTES: This is one BEEFY boy, but absolutely worth the read. WY really deserves all the good things and does eventually get them in this fic. It is very much a canon divergence but WY is adopted by the Nie's. I truly could not get enough reading this. Yes there is some angst, but WY has so much more respect this time around :'3
6 Phoenix and the Ash (280378 words) by cytheriafalas
Chapters: 51/51 Rating: Explicit Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence Relationships: Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji/Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Lan Huan | Lan Xichen/Nie Mingjue, Lan Huan | Lan Xichen/Meng Yao | Jin Guangyao/Nie Mingjue, Song Lan | Song Zichen/Xiao Xingchen/Xue Yang | Xue Chengmei Characters: literally everyone Additional Tags: Everyone's favorite: A good old-fashioned prostitute AU, Canon-Typical Violence, Trauma, trauma for everyone, you get a redemption arc and YOU get a redemption arc, canonical Lan falling in love way too fast, slow burn but only in the sense of Circumstances Get In The Way, Because again: Canonical Lan falling in love way too fast, Platonic(?) bed sharing, Hair brushing as sign of affection Summary: At the request of the Nie, Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji investigate allegations about murders in a brothel in Qishan. Lan Wangji meets Yiling Laozu, and everyone discovers very quickly that murders at a brothel are the very least of what is happening. Started out as an homage to Kushiel's Legacy and ended with a war. Fully written, fully edited, chapters coming weekly—maybe biweekly, if I'm feeling particularly spicy.
NOTES: WARNING: this is such a heavy fic. It was truly hard to read, but the ending is very good I promise. CW: So much abuse, sexual assault, kidnapping, sexual slavery, non-consent. It does get better but I did cry a fuck-ton reading this. This is the AU in which the dafan wen's (they are enslaved and work in a brothel owned by Ruohan and co) take in WY from childhood and he is basically groomed by Wen Ruohan and squad to be their most deviant customer's favourite sex worker (he is tortured for their pleasure i cannot state how terrible it was). BUT He does get a very happy ending, lots of mental health and physical support and it does end with Wangxian in the softest of ways. I know I spoked a lot about the trauma but it was very good I promise.
7 We Meet at the Thousandth Step (315914 words) by Rynne, Admiranda
Chapters: 44/44 Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Relationships: Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji/Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Cangse Sanren/Wei Changze Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, No Sunshot Campaign (Modao Zushi), Cangse Sanren and Wei Changze Live, Rogue Cultivator Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Alternate Universe - Different First Meeting, Night Hunts (Modao Zushi), Genius Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Inventor Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Plot, Romance, Drama, Fluff, Strangers to married, Unresolved Sexual Tension, Unresolved Romantic Tension, Alternate Universe - Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies, Developing Relationship, Minor Violence, Case Fic, Mystery, Flirting, Wei Wuxian's Canon-Typical Flower Flirting, Arson, There Was Only One Bed, Getting Together, First Kiss, Meeting the Parents, Resolved Sexual Tension, Resolved Romantic Tension, Wei Wuxian Is a Good Big Brother, New Relationship Bliss, Chinese Mythology & Folklore, Blood and Injury, Yiling siblings, Married Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji/Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Honeymoon, Wangxian's Baby Fever Series: Part 1 of The Different Paths We Tread Summary: As they both go wherever the chaos might be, Lan Wangji and rogue cultivator Wei Wuxian, eldest child of the famous Cangse-sanren, find their paths converging. Soon they'll discover in each other the perfect partner for night hunting…and beyond.
NOTES: In which WY's parents did NOT die and he is raised as a rogue cultivator with them (and his sibling!). This is the most sweetest, fluffy, romance between rogue cultivator WY and the esteemed second jade of Lan. Honestly this is a soul cleansing fic. I am pretty sure I have rec'd it before, but I will continue to do so because it is adorable. Bonus- parental teasing from Cansge Sanren and Wei Changze!

Chapters: 4/4 Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Relationships: Meng Yao | Jin Guangyao & Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji/Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian Characters: Meng Yao | Jin Guangyao, Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Meng Shi (Modao Zushi), Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji, Mo Xuanyu, Lan Huan | Lan Xichen, Lan Qiren Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Adopted Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, POV Multiple, warning for JGS behaving exactly as expected, child endangerment, Brother Feels, Minor Character Death Summary: Two children, Meng Shi decides, cannot possibly be that much more work than one. On the run from the Jin, Meng Shi encounters another young boy in need of love, a family and a home.
NOTES: This is one of my favourtie premises I have come across and I am so glad I read it. Meng Shi is fleeing the brothel and the Jin cultivators after her with her son. In an alley in yilling she finds orphaned Wei Ying- what's one more (well more than one- we get some baby Xuanyu!) child to raise? In this AU WY is not a cultivator but brilliant with talismans, wangxian still happens (the most romantic first meet), and the jins have the day they deserve in the end. So sweet!

Chapters: 8/8 Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Sort Of, Fix It, Not Jiang Family Friendly, Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan Bashing, Yu Ziyuan Bashing, Definitely not Yu Ziyuan centric, Fix it for our main characters, Alternate Universe - Time Travel, Butterfly Effect, Madam Lan Lives (Modao Zushi), No Sunshot Campaign (Modao Zushi), Artistic License, Unreliable Narrator, Jiang Cheng | Jiang Wanyin Bashing, non-yunmeng wei wuxian, Accidental Baby Acquisition, Good Uncle Lan Qiren, OOC, No Beta, Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji/Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian Get a Happy Ending, Wei Wuxian gets the love and care that he deserves from the very beginning, Other Additional Tags to Be Added, Mainly CQL but has elements of the novel as well, Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian Isn't Adopted by the Jiangs, verbal and physical (c/o Zidian) abuse from YZY Summary: The one where Yu Ziyuan time traveled but she thought that it was her visions of her alternate life. She learned that there is a brat named Wei Ying who brought destruction to her and her family's life. And so in her present, she vowed that she will never allow that to happen.   In which Yu Ziyuan found the four-year-old Wei Ying, newly pushed out of the inn where his parents left him, and decided that no, this child must never be associated with her, her family, and their sect at all. And so Yu Ziyuan thought that she could bring him somewhere where someone may or may not find him but definitely far from where her husband could find him. If he's lucky, he'll survive that winter, if he's not, then death awaits the fevered child. This is the extent of mercy that Yu Ziyuan could give a child. With this, she'll raise her children without having to deal with a brat that brings trouble where he goes according to her visions of her alternate life. Like the tag stated, this is definitely not Yu Ziyuan centric.
NOTES: Listen, I know this is more of a time travel fic (loosely) BUT it still results in WY being raised in the Lan sect (good uncle lan qiren fics are my life blood). The three jades of lan have a MUCH better time, wangxian romance, the war is averted, and we get a sneaky little twist in the end! A solid fic.
10 Going on charmingly (21238 words) by scribbet
Chapters: 4/4 Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Additional Tags: Teenage Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji, Cloud Recesses Shenanigans (Modao Zushi), Cloud Recesses Study Arc (Modao Zushi), Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian is Baoshan Sanren's Disciple, Genius Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Petty Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji, Meddling Lan Huan | Lan Xichen, What if Lan Wangji didn't have an excuse to instantly write Wei Wuxian off?, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Jiang Fengmian Doesn't Adopt Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Wei Wuxian minus canon sense of obligation, but still with an inability to shut up around Lan Wangji, Jin Zixun is unfortunately present but only to lose face, Lan Qiren's inconsistent adherence to the Lan clan precepts, writing the effective Lan education you would like to see in the world, Technically pre-relationship - Freeform, but in the typical Wangxian way of them being in deep but just not acknowledging it yet, POV Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji, I swear Lan Wangji's inner voice was not quite so snarky when I started this Summary: He pulled the door open smoothly, leaving the noisemaker with their fist still raised mid-knock.  He could glimpse white robes underneath a thick and practical-looking travel cloak, but surely no member of his sect would think to barge in upon him in such a way. “Hello!” the interloper exclaimed, a bright smile coming into view as he lifted the sopping veils away to one side. “Would you happen to know how to reach the Cloud Recesses?” Or, a teenage Wei Wuxian arrives at the Lan sect as a (mostly) respected disciple of the Immortal Baoshan Sanren instead of the well-known troublemaker of Yunmeng Jiang. Lan Wangji learns to come to terms with this (eventually).
NOTES: WY was raised by Baoshan Sanren and turns up at cloud recesses once he descends the mountain. This was a cute read and doesn't really dig deep into wangxian as a couple but it is the story of them falling in love (adorable). I love a good Gusu study arc and this was very much that.
11 The Light That Fails to Dim (310880 words) by glowingreverie
Chapters: 81/81 Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Angst with a Happy Ending, tags will be updated as the story goes on, Mild Gore Summary: Wei Ying lost his parents in a night hunt. Cold and alone, he wandered the streets of Yiling for nearly two years. However, one fateful night, a tall, scary man finds him and takes him back to a place he calls Qinghe. Later Wei Ying, now known as Wei Wuxian, discovers that that tall, scary man is not bad at all. And his cowardly brother makes an even better friend than he initially thought he would. With a content feeling in his chest every day, Wei Wuxian can only hope these peaceful, happy days with his new family will last until the end of time. Or, in which Jiang Fengmian is unaware of what happened to Wei Wuxian's parents and Nie Mingjue takes him in and the story continues from there…
NOTES: Another sweet sweet Nie sect adopts WY fic. This fic really broke my heart i'm not going to lie pals. It does have a very happy ending but it also includes 16 years of WY away from civilization (he is not dead but is in the burial mounds fixing some things that happen to him). It is worth it for the happy ending- AND it includes some cute bonus chapters!

Tumblr media
Lan Xichen is a collector of treasures.
He doesn’t remember when it started or for which reason. Perhaps the idea had been a fruit of seeing his shufu dutifully making copies of his most treasured scrolls and aligning them with care in his room. Maybe who set his heart on it had been his own mother, who learned to preserve her favorite flowers from their monthly bouquet and keep them guarded in between the pages of her favorite poetry books, always smiling and never complained when he and A-Zhan asked her to see them again and again. Perhaps it was one of the elders who teached him that precious things must be guarded safe and close, maybe it was a lesson he got from a book… In the end, none of this truly mattered.
His collection had little to do with pages or books. It was not something he could proudly show someone or be afraid of getting too large and running out of space. However, it was full of riches much rarer than the most expensive fabric or the purest gold, each one of them was unique and special in a way that could never be shown or gathered again. They were small enough to be carried with him all the time, always close to his heart and he would (or could) never think about selling or giving not even one away. They had no physical attribute to be priced and no human in the world capable of seeing its complete value.
It’s nature, in his feelings, could be also a result of his values and sect, a part of being a Lan, of having something that you love so deeply ingrained thoroughly into every fiber of yourself until there's no point in trying to understand where it ends and you begin.
However, Lan Xichen does remember the very first item of his collection.
(...)
“And the fluffy bunny thanked the kind cultitrator-”
“Cultivator.”
“Cultivator.” He pronounced each syllable slowly, until it sounded more like the adult’s correction. Lan Quiren hummed lightly in agreement without opening his eyes, so he must have said it right. Lan Huan controlled his big, proud smile, the best he could (one must not be arrogant, for it spoils the soul and destroy the humanity) but it still escaped when Lan Zhan’s small hand tugged his robes impatiently, eyes dropping with sleep, and yet refusing to give up, being held awake only by his own stubbornness to listen to the end of the story. “The fluffy bunny thanked the kind cultivator with lots of bunny kisses, happy to have a new friend and finally get back to home again. With a juyuful jump-”
“Joyful.”
“With a joyful jump,” he sneaked a look at his Shufu, who hummed again, “she landed on the green grass, tasty and fresh, and hopped back to her family. The end.”
Lan Zhan watched him close the book, soft and content, finally giving up to his exhaustion, eyes closing slowly. Shufu, in contrast, opened his and turned to look at Lan Huan with a short nod, a hand coming to press on his back until it was set into a straighter posture.
His gaze travelled and then stopped at the younger boy. “A-Zhan, wish a goodnight to your Xionzhang and Shufu. It’s time for you to sleep and for me to retire.”
Lan Huan had time to put the book back to the shelf where it belonged, back with his other books and scrolls for studies, and then come back to tuck his didi in as shufu prepared Lan Huan’s bed, until Lan Zhan eventually did what was asked. He waited until their eyes were on him, stared deeply at the adult and then just as long at his Xiongzhang and then hummed clearly, head falling back on his pillow, quickly falling into a deep leep.
“Good night, A-Zhan.” Both him and Lan Qiren answered in sync, the first with a smile and the second with a huff, watching the smallest with their own kind of fondness.
His shufu cleaned his throat softly and Lan Huan climbed in his own bed, plans of sneaking in the middle of the night to his didi’s own momentarily forgotten with how much his mind was too occupied, brow furrowed in contemplation. Like this, he took off his forehead ribbon and carefully folded and placed it with his outer robes, next to his bed.
A gruffy, low voice pulled him back from his thoughts the same time it tucked him under a pair of thick blankets. The fall was getting closer.
“One must speak if there is a reason to do so and avoid letting fruitful thoughts fester.”
“Shufu…” His voice slow, hinted with a serious thoughtfulness that has been appearing more and more with the passage of the years.
Lan Qiren felt himself get even more straight, sharp eyes looking in his nephew’s face, hoping to find something that would help him get a glimpse of what was going into the boy’s mind. Lan Huan was growing faster each day and he knew that very soon he would start to make questions that Lan Qiren would either dread or not know the answer. He didn’t think it would be so soon.
“Can a human give bunny kisses?”
The adult almost sighed out loud in relief, then chided himself for his presumptions. It was yet too soon. Only then he registered his words.
“Where does your doubt come from?”
“The bunny said thank you to the cultivator, but didn’t receive anything back.” Lan Huan sounded worried. “They were happy together, but the human can’t live together with the bunny’s family…Couldn’t then the cultivator give her a bunny kiss too? Before she went away forever?”
“She received her entire family back, so she showed gratitude, the bunny kiss was already the result of a gift, not the beginning of one. Besides, one must not assume too much, perhaps they can continued visiting each other.” He answered, a hand holding his beard, which soon was forming into a nice goatee, maybe Qiren could let it grow, see how it would turn out. “As for your question, I think a human can give someone a kiss akin to the bunny in the story, holding the same purpose, even if different in their nature.”
“How?”
“You rub the tip of your nose softly on the person.” He carried himself stiffly, his words quick and cutting. For a moment the quiet prevailed and the adult let the boy think about his words.
It was a calm night, soon enough the wind would get strong enough and sweeping the old leaves of their streets would become a new punishment and chore. Another winter would come and then would go again. Lan Huan would start his music lessons soon and begin to learn etiquettes and greetings necessary for conferences, presentations and the rest of his future. He already didn’t need his strict uncle to read his favorite story before bed anymore or hold his hand tightly before departing to his morning classes. He learned how to tie his own forehead ribbon and how to control his thoughts to be shared after meals, and talked more and more excitedly for the day he would receive his courtesy name.
Lan Zhan too, as every good younger brother did (as Lan Qiren once did in a forgotten past, as well), started following Huan’s every step, eager with hawk eyes watching in awe his older brother’s every move, every word, his every right and wrong, mirroring it with all the skill could. He waved away Qiren’s help in dressing himself and ran to Huan to ask for his nightly stories. They no longer went searching for him during his nightmares nor cried for him when they were hungry or fuzzy, too tired to comprehend their own feelings.
And yet, Lan Zhan still held his robes and trailed after him for hours, pouty and determinately protective, everytime after Qiren came back from a long conference. Lan Huan continued to look at him for guidance with such bright, curious eyes after watching him spar and flooding him with questions, never afraid of being admonished for how long or simple they were.
They were growing into fine, young boys who would soon be fine, young mans. That was a good thing, Qiren thought. It was.
In the end, he sighed and made his decision.
“Like this.” Lan Qiren lowered his head and lightly rubbed the tip of his nose on his nephew’s small (yet so, so small) forehead. Then he promptly straightened back and turned around, ignoring the delighted, soft gasp from the kid behind him as he walked away.
“Good night, A-Huan.”
And like this, it was born a tradition.
Right on the next day, Lan Huan got up and, seeing that Lan Zhan was awake too, immediately turned to him with an excited smile.
“Good morning, A-Zhan.” The younger one watched him with wonder in his eyes, clearly curious about what made his brother so bright so early. Lan Huan chuckled and wormed himself across the mattress until he could sit on its border, getting closer to the other. “I have a surprise for you. Do you want it?”
Lan Zhan turned to look at his empty hands with narrowing eyes, but his curiosity ended up winning, his head nodding as he stepped closer, confused and eager to know what he would get.
“It is a…” Huan gave it a pause to increase the antecipation, “a bunny kiss!”
His attempt to replicate the light nuzzle in his brother’s forehead was much more clumsy than his shufu, but as he quickly retreated to analyze his didi’s reaction (he was still learning when touch was and wasn’t welcome for him), Lan Zhan’s eyes were wider than normal, mouth open and eyes staring at him in surprise before looking up, hands slowly coming to rest on his forehead, just around the place the ‘bunny kiss’ was laid, being careful to not touch it.
That was a good sign. The older brother beamed.
“I learned from your story!” Lan Huan got up and started to dress for the day, carefully tying his forehead ribbon before putting on the layers of his robes. Breakfast would begin soon and shufu would come to collect them not much long before. “Did you like it?”
“...Not a bunny.”
Lan Huan couldn’t really refute this, as it was true and lying was prohibited in Cloud Recess, so he simply hummed in agreement and continued his morning routine, just like he has been taught.
Soon, there was a small hand tugging at his wrist and pulling his attention. As Huan whirled around, his didi smacked his face on his palm, turning from one side to another in an even more clumsy bunny kiss. Lan Huan felt like bouncing, body almost trembling with the effort of keeping his control.
Lan Zhan looked at him and then, with a very satisfied air, went back to prepare himself.
Ever since then, Bunny Kisses became something to expect on their daily routine, except for their shufu, who who only fell to the tradition once or twice, always in quick bolts that would disappear as soon as they came to be never mentioned again. However, between the two kids it was their new way to say Goodmorning and Goodnight, a Thank-You for when Lan Zhan kept him company during his long afternoons of studies and a See-You-Soon for when they had to head different classes during the morning.
It was only natural, then, that soon Lan Huan’s mind, bright and curious in the peak of childhood, discovered how such a soft form of affection could be used for much more playful mischievousness than it was firstly intended.
(...)
Lan Huan carefully set his brush down, mindful to not let any drop of ink fall on his table or calligraphy exercise, for the danger of having to write all of it again. With a quiet sigh of relief he looked at his didi, too concentrated in his little pile game to notice that Huan had already finished over and therefore they were free to go out to shufu. The tip of his fingers had a few light smudges of black from when he continued to grind the ink for Lan Huan even before the older could stop him and Huan couldn’t stop the happiness that filled his chest at that, watching as the little boy continued with determination at his task.
An idea rose in his mind.
Perhaps it was a result of how much time they spend sitting down, slowly falling into boredom or that Lan Zhan seemed extra clingy after his classes, but suddenly… suddenly Lan Huan wanted something.
There was a playfulness growing in him, something that looked at his didi and celebrated that he was so oblivious to his intentions. It was the perfect opportunity, just what he needed to attack.
Huh.
He blinked.
In the next second, he was lunging, his arms full of his younger brother who barely had time to look at him in surprise before Huan was shoving his face on his neck, nuzzling it with energy until a squeak rang across the room, quickly being followed by quick, low snickers that made his shoulders bounce and him to try to hide the sensitive spot from the sudden onslaught of affection.
“Bunny Kisses!” He resurfaced again, gold bright eyes that looked exactly like his staring right back at him. Lan Zhan shook his head, still snickering and scrunching up his neck, phantom tickles dancing on his tingling skin and pulling a tiny smile from his closed lips.
“No?” Lan Huan shook his head together with him, his entire expression still twirling in mischievousness. The corner of his eyes crinkled with his smile “No Bunny Kisses? But you love them so much, right?”
His didi, his lovely, poor little didi, immediately nodded to answer his question and the flashing grin he received was the only hint he had before Lan Huan’s nuzzles descended to his belly, tiny raspberries being placed a couple and more of times until his quiet snickers grew to low, hysterical giggles, chubby hands pushing his head away as the younger squeaked and tittered at each new nuzzle, laughter growing a tad louder when the tickly affection got too close of his sides and bellybutton and then went back to unstoppable chuckling as his brother deviated and tickled from those highly ticklish spots to focus on the rest of his stomach a little more.
“No bunny kisses.” Even with each one of his syllables being caught in tons and tons of giggles, Lan Zhan concentrated on his interjection. “Tickles!”
Lan Huan gasped softly in an exaggerated surprise.
“Oh no, A-Zhan, am I tickling you?” He turned just enough to be able to see the younger one nod fervently. “I must correct this immediately, then!”
Purposefully, he shoved his face fully on his side. Lan Zhan gasped and started to wiggle from one side to another non stop, unable to escape the clutches of the tickle monster. The more the nuzzles attacked and teased the spot, the more squeals and small yelps escaped from his mouth, huffs and puffs of laughter filling the previous too quiet room. He shook his head fervently.
“It tickles here too?” Lan Zhan nodded, again, and Huan began to rest tiny raspberries here and there, his laughter grew stronger. “What if I do this? Does it tickles less, didi?”
At Lan Zhan’s shaking head and squeaky chuckles, Lan Huan pulled one arm upwards without any resistance, starting to poke and rub his nose on his armpits, voice light and playful as he asked once more. “What about here? Does it tickle too, A-Zhan? Maybe I can try here, then?” Jumping now to his ribs, Lan Huan snickered when a louder squeal flew the air at this and hiccups began painting the younger’s quiet squeaking laughter. “Ah! Not here as well? Didi, you’re really ticklish all over.”
“Then… here.” Finally, Lan Huan gave up his tickle attack and placed the bunny kiss on his forehead, light and soft until the squirming and giggling slowed down a bit.
Lan Zhan felt his own happy giggles slowly dying as well until he felt a small smile and bright eyes staring, lingering in his face in a pout from the playful offense. When he looked, Lan Zhan’s face had gone back to his usual expression, but now much more relaxed and happy. The young brother Lan Zhan sighed deeply, as if burdened by a great duty, he then stared seriously into his older brother’s eyes.
“Xiongzhang is very bad at bunny kisses.”
This time, it was Lan Huan who couldn’t stop his laughter.
So, it started like this, and Lan Xichen began collecting smiles, laughter, light, and happiness. His collection only grew bigger as the time passed, in those moments when his little brother's eyes softened on the corners and he looked at him expectantly, with an attentive, excited attention, when his mother gathered his face in her warm hands and he made a silly face that never failed to pull a smile from her, when he his family continued to expand, full of opportunities and moments that only made Lan Xichen richer and richer.
(...)
They made it to the end, to everyone’s relief, and Lan Xichen thanked how the rules of his sect taught him how to move quick and quiet without resorting to an actual running, ill-mannered pace to escape. The Lans made their way to their rooms swiftly before any other Sect Leader could pull them away to joy idle conversation.
It was clear in the tilt of his head and the vague sense of his eyes that Lan Zhan was beyond bored, wanting nothing more than for this to be over and them to go home. After listening to Sect Leader Yao complain about the tariffs for almost one entire shichen, Lan Huan could relate. He was sure their Shufu felt like that too, since that small tick in his left eye appeared in the middle of the ranting and hasn't gone away ever since, a clear signal of the adult reaching stress levels that could possibly equal to a qi deviation, besides when Sect Leader Yao’s long winded vent was over, with fingers being pointed to half of the other sects and no solution being proposed, Lan Qiren’s words came hot, scolding and educated in a way that only years of practice would result. The Ouyangs quickly ended the conference after it.
“I will retire to my room to meditate.” Lan Qiren huffed and nodded as Lan Huan and Lan Zhan gave him twin bows, equal in sentiment and execution, making something light appear in his eyes as a response. “Wangji. Xichen. I will see you at breakfast.”
“Mn.” His brother agreed at the same time he said. “Yes, shufu.”
He looked at his little brother and realized he was not going to be the one to ask, so when nothing more was pointed out, Xichen added. “May we attend to your morning meditations together?”
Lan Qiren caressed his goatee, a pleased air momentarily appearing in his face. “They said the blossoms came in earlier this year, creating a calm scenery to clear the mind and balance the spirit. Very well. I will collect you not long before sunrise.”
“We will be ready.” It would be good to change their usual place and enjoy the beauty of the sect they were in. If it was far enough away they could even press their uncle to join them for a few songs in the spirit of “practice” before heading to another exhausting conference. Xichen was plenty aware of how hard it was to deny them when he and Wangji combined his forces.
As the older changed directions and went to his personal quarters, the brothers kept calmly following their way. When the scenery no longer caught his attention, Lan Xichen turned his gaze to the younger, watching his expression vague and unseeing at his surroundings. Wangji was still bored and distracted.
Lan Xichen, after years and years of practice and patience, immediately recognized the quite mischievous feeling that appeared in his soul as his mind processed what a perfect opportunity this was.
There was barely a movement of white and suddenly Lan Wangji froze in his careful, unbothered march, lips pressed in a tight line as his arms unfolded from their position from behind his back to clue on his sides protectively. The feeling of a silly urge to smile bubbled, just as his attention immediately turned to his older brother.
Lan Xichen, of course, controlled his urge to snicker.
“Is something the matter, Wangjii?”
Ah. He wasn’t as subtle as he expected. Golden, equally accusing and accessing eyes burned on his form as if they could read the plan in his mind. Xichen let a serenate air take over his expression, even though it was a futile attempt of distraction. There was nothing he could do. As much as he knew each expression and quirks of Wangji, the same could be said about his own expressions and his brother, who could read the playfulness in the light of his eyes with ease from lis away, and so took a petulant step away, muscles tensing.
Their gazes found each other. Thankfully, they were already close enough to their quarters that no other wandering disciple would think about appearing to bother them and their dinner had been long delivered at their rooms. Even if there was an emergency they would go first to Shufu. Therefore, there was no hurry at all, to catch some unexpected smiles and giggles today while chasing the exhaustion away.
Lan Xichen chuckled and calmly turned to continue their way, one arm crossed on his back and the other gesturing to the empty corridor. “Let’s go to our room. I am quite tired from the evening.”
Lan Wangji waited for him to go forward and then marched to his pace, right by his side, straying away when the older brother tried to get closer and matching his stride step by step, gaze unrelenting, watching him with the tail of his eyes.
No words, protesting or accusing, were spared and anticipation was quick to twirl in the air around them.
They stopped in front of the door. Stared at it.
Wangji kept his expression carefully blank. Lan Xichen continued to smile, tranquil.
“Wangji, please?” He motioned for the door.
“Xiongzhang.” Lan Zhan nodded.
None of them moved, not wanting to give up their equal ground to a more vulnerable position.
Maybe the conference really took a toll on his brother, because he partially caved, an annoyed huff leaving him as he turned the slightly bit away from him, angling his body just enough to open the door and keep him in his field vision in the case of a sudden attack. Unfortunately for him, Lan Xichen was still more practiced and quicker.
In no time at all, a wiggly finger rested on his ribs, sneaking a few tickles there before he dodged.
“Xiongzhang!” There was a gasp and a tune in his voice, a hint of titters. His eyes were attentive and bright, now, which only encouraged Xichen to sneak a few more tickle attacks, another wiggly finger poking  his armpit, a quick pinch on his sides, a bit of prodding on his spine when he kept turning away. They continued to twirl, jumping close and pushing away in a playful game of cat and mouse.
“I am sorry, A-Zhan, am I tickling you?”
Lan Wangji bit back a squeak and a wobbly smile, as too many memories flooded his mind. He was no longer a tiny, innocent and giggly kid to fall so easily to his older brother’s antics. Still, there was a hint of flustered red taking over the tip of his ears.“Lying is prohibited. One must not deceive with his words. One must not fight with the family, for there is no winner. One must not stray from the righteous path!”
There was no helping the joyful laughter escaping from Lan Xichen as they continued their chase, the thought of him walking away from the righteousness because he decided to tickle his younger brother by surprise was too hilarious for him.
“One must show his true appreciation to his family and friends, to care and intervene when they’re needed. One must honor their elder’s gifts, their experience and wiseness. One must be just and kind, and only then will they be following the right path.” He countered.
“Not tickling.” Wangji highlighted and huffed, annoyed. In a sudden more he opened the door, fast to get into the room and close it, however, too slow to do it before Lan Xichen took the opportunity to burrow his fingers for a few kes on his neck, using the distraction to worm his way inside his room, too.
“There are no rules saying they don't apply to tickling.”
“Xiongzhang is being purposefully obtuse.”
“Has Wangji grown too old for his brother’s affection? Does he no longer accept my bunny kisses, no long care for his Huan-ge?” Lan Xichen teased, letting his hands fall and looking away with a sad, disheartened face. “Poor is my heart.”
(He calmed too the piece of his soul that ached a bit too truthfully at his words.)
“Xiongzhang.” His ears were completely red now, which was completely endearing. Lan Zhan must have understood him a bit too well, as always, and gave a single step closer, in a suspicious support. “No tickles.” He emphasised.
Lan Xichen sniffed, looking at him with bright, big eyes, Lan Zhan looked back unmoved. “What about Bunny Kisses?”
Oh, they could get even redder.
“No tickles.” Wangji repeated firmly while taking another step closer.
Xichen sighed in defeat, and in the next second pounced. Wangji jumped out of the way with a wordless surprised sound. He would become a wonderful cultivator, with reflexes so quick as to catch up with him even with years of differentiation between them.
Still, they would yet have a few years before that. Xichen ranked his fingers up and down Wangji’s ribs, making him stumble out his grasp with a quick huff of laughter, arms hugging himself over the lasting buzzing tingles. He didn’t have a lot of time to recollect himself before the other was attacking again. This time, when Xichen managed to poke and scribble at Wangji’s bellybutton, he pried a quick, muffled snort before the other jumped away.
Simple like that, they resumed their previous chase across the room, robes floating and dancing in the air as they jumped from one wall to another, going over the furniture and dodging all of their sparse decorations with ease, which definitely wasn’t an activity his shufu would ever approve, but it was very effective to exercise their precision and grace during fast movements.
Just as Wangji was jumping over their bed, preparing to propel himself on the nearest wall and get away, Xichen had the opportunity to catch him, one hand barely had time to secure a firm grip around his ankle before Xichen was pulling him down on the mattress, quickly latching his other hand on his calf and squeezing.
A high squeak floated across the space and Wangji immediately melted on the spot, his kicks completely uncoordinated as he tried to turn his every ounce of control into controlling his laughter. Lan Xichen, as he always did when he saw his younger brother stopping being so serious and having a little of fun, was endeared.
“We’re not in Cloud Recesses, Wangji-di.” Since he already decided to choose violence as a form of caring, Xichen began squeezing the calf non stop, walking up and up until he got to his knees, sparing plenty of light, maddening scribbles on the ticklish skin until it created a quick wave of airy titters before going downwards to his calves again, laughter morphing in deeper guffaws that only grew quicker and lower the more he tormented the muscle, kneading and tasering non stop. “You can laugh as much and as loud as you want.”
Wangji just shook his head, if it was a protest against the tickling or an affirmation that he was not discarding the rules outside his home it was unclear. Obviously, that was not helped by the way Xichen decided to tease his ankles, leaving tiny scratches around the bone and spidering his fingers all around them, collecting more and more squeaks and huffs of laughter by doing so, following those the sensitive spot no matter how much Lan Zhan tried to twist his legs this way or that, more softer giggles dancing on the air with his efforts.
Once more, Xichen decided moving upwards, scribbling and wiggling around his ankles, drumming on his calves, passing with plenty of scribbles and pokes on the underside of his knee until his dancing fingers fingers managed to scratch at that spot between his knee and thigh, which pried an louder flow of snickers, hand slowly creeping to the back of his thighs. He barely clawed the stop and suddenly Wangji was turning around, hands holding his wrists while a big, closed-lipped smile, eyes bright and ears red, stared back at him.
“Xiongzhang.” He admonished, still giggling a bit around his words, probably because that spot of his was a fisher of loud, shrieking laughter.
Xichen showed him a tiny apologetic smile of his own, expression bright and happy. Wangji softened, still carrying a hint of a pout, and it was a proof of Xichen’s self control to not snicker out loud. It only resulted in another suspicious stare. Once more Wangji had been perfect in reading him. “Stop playing around.”
“I apologize, Wangji.” His tune was still light and playful and, truly, he couldn’t help sneaking a last tease. Poking a little of fun at his younger brother has been one of his delights for a long time now. “But aren’t you glad to no longer be burdened by boredom? There’s a new, more vivid air in you, now, don’t you think?”
Lan Wangji simply huffed and let his hands go, heading to their table without even a glance at his direction, petulantly ignoring him.
When they finally began sharing their dinner, Lan Xichen noticed the more relaxed pose Wangji carried, a a slight twitch of his lips from time to time (especially when Xichen kept reaching to grab bowls and food next to him, which wasn’t actually any kind of teasing) and a happier, brighter kind of light in his eyes.
They really knew each other too well, when Wangji’s eyes found his Xichen grinned, the other immediately turned around with another flustered huff.
He had fun, Xichen was glad.
His plan had really worked.
(....)
Lan Xichen smiled warmly, steps silent as he approached the two kids who were too distracted whispering among themselves to notice their new observant. He beamed when he found Jin Guangyao’s, watching the kids from a bench under a colorful gazebo, bouncing a shrieking little A-Ling on his leg. Xichen put a finger in his lips and A-Yao turned back to pay attention to his nephew, pretending to not see the other stop right behind Jingyi and Yuan, bending down quietly, being careful in not letting his shadow fall on them to not be noticed.
“We just need to revise our plan.” Jingyi whispered (which, to him, was a slightly more quiet shout. A-Yuan was watching him with an attentive gaze and he preened under the attention) and, with a stick, moved a few pebbles on the grass. “You stay here with Xichen-ge and while Liangfang-zun is distracted with Sandu Shengshou  I will grab Jin Ling and put him in our room! He can wear my extra robes and hide so no one can find him. I’ll be extra clear so I will not need to change my clothes, too. No one will notice him with so many Lans here.”
“But… won’t Jiang-Zongzhu get sad because we stole his nephew?” A-Yuan didn’t seem as confident in this plan as Jingyi. He looked at Jin Ling in the distance before turning back at his friend. “Won’t he be missing his jiujiu?”
“A-Yuan, he is going away today. If we let him, we won’t be able to play anymore! The adults will order us to wait for when the next Conference happens and it will take forever. And! He will have us, Xichen-ge and his shushu here with him so he won’t be feeling alone.”
Yet, his friend didn’t seem much convinced, Lan Yuan’s belly recoiled from the idea of taking the baby away from his family. If he was Jin Ling, he would be very sad with this plan. But he being Lan Yuan, he was also very sad to see the baby going away.
His fingers fiddled with the hem of his robe before pressing it until it was free of wrinkles. When he looked up, his eyes were determined. “I think we should ask Xichen-ge to play more with him  He will help.”
“Xichen-ge and Liangfang-zun are really close friends, but Liangfang-zun and Sandu Shengshou are not.” Jingyi pointed and Lan Xichen felt surprised with how attentive the younger was. To keep the relationships between sects as peaceful as possible, very few, almost none, people knew that A-Yao and Jiang-shixiong, no, Sect Leader Jiang didn’t like each other, besides, both of them tried to keep appearances for Jin Ling. “I don’t think it will work if we ask.”
The two kids sagged, stuck in an impasse. A-Yuan poked one of the whitest pebbles, lost in thought. “How can I even distract Xichen-ge?”
Lan Jingyi opened his mouth, but the voice that answered his friend wasn’t his. “I might have an idea.”
The kids squealed and jumped in surprise, Xiao Jingyi turned to look at him with wide eyes and A-Yuan pressed his hands on his mouth, as if to take back the loud noise. Before he could get that guilty expression in his face, Lan Xichen scooped him in one of his arms and started his most successful distracting technique. An even louder squeal was pried from his nephew.
(They were in Lanling, after all. There is no need to enforce Gusu Lan rules so strictly when there is more pressing matter at hand, like a very likely war between the Jin and the Jiangs if Jin Ling disappears under the care of the first. Besides, if they did start reinforcing the rules, Xichen would also have to pay his fair punishment and write some extensive lines about eavesdropping.)
“Gege! Xichen-ge!” A-Yuan squirmed in his hold, kicking and trying to push his hand away as it began to squeeze his side non stop, playful, restless fingers spidering and pinching every inch of ticklish skin. His high squeaky laughter began traveling across the air and the younger one wiggled and wiggled until he could turn around and shove his face in his shoulder, melting completely on him as his entire body shook with his giggles and crackles.
“Yes?” Xichen smiled and wormed his hand up until it was attacking that silly spot right between his shoulder blades with fluttering fingers and a barely there touch that never failed to fill his uncontrollable laughter with snorts and high pitched snickering. A-Yuan trashed a bit more, finally realizing that there was really no escape from his tickly end. The kid then hugged him closer, shyly muffling his laughter.
Lan Xichen nuzzled the top of his head, happily. He would have to move him soon, both to be sure that Xiao Yuan was breathing properly and also as a chance to see that delightful smile of his.
“No need to get shy, little bunny, your strategy to distract me is very efficient, I say. I already forgot what I even came here to do.”
He sneaked two fingers to lightly scratch at his neck, successfully making him pull his face out of his shoulder to scrunch and protect the spot. Lan Xichen flashed an eager grin to those gleaming, squinting eyes. “Maybe I only  need to keep tickle-tickle-tickling you until I remember, then! Doesn’t it sound like a perfect plan?”
A-Yuan was too occupied wiggling his form from the new, previous free hand that found the back of his ribs and was attacking him with vigorous scratching to answer. It didn’t help that the other hand had only crawled up to tease the shell of his ears with an onslaught of soft, light tickles too.
Even so, it didn’t take long before a grip pulled the hand that wasn’t holding his nephew up away and another little boy answered him.
“Let him go!”
“But, A-Yi, then he will fall.” His reply was goodnaturedly and, like a very caring adult, his grin only expanded further at Jingyi’s groan. The boy didn’t despair for long, however, quickly tugging his sleeve once more with a more determined look on his face.
“Don’t worry, A-Yuan. I have an idea!”
Lan Yuan adjusted his face to look at his best friend, uncovering it enough that only one teary eye and half of a bright smile were visible, his hands still held the white fabric under his grip tightly. He looked quite like a worm, squirming from one side to another like this.
“A-Yi!” His giggles got bubbly and full of snorts as Lan Xichen started making his fingers walk up and down and up and down and up and down (again!) his spine. “R-run!”
“Never!” Jingyi protested, putting all his strength in pulling Xichen’s hand away while tiptoeing and putting his other hand between A-Yuan’s back and Lan Xichen's tickly fingers. “I won’t leave you behind! He can’t fight both of us at once, A-Yuan, don’t worry.”
“Is that so? Perhaps, you should come closer to defeat me, I believe.” Xichen stopped tickling A-Yuan and let him become boneless on his hug, tiny snickers still escaping from his lips. With his other arm, he scooped Jingyi up, gracefully suppressing a grimace when the young one shrieked right next to his ear. “There we go. I am excited to see your new, brilliant plan that will lead to my fall.”
Jingyi clumsily straightened himself, poofing out his chest with pride.
“You already fell for it, Xichen-ge!” With a gleaming smile, A-Yi beamed smugly. He straightened himself even more, both arms resting on his back in a pose that he and Lan Wangji usually assumed when teaching their classes. Lan Xichen easily stomped over his desire to chuckle at the morrorining. “Now both of your hands are full! Which means you can’t use them to tickle us now, aha!”
The adult gasped in faux despair and Jingyi bounced in pride.
“How didn’t I see this? Jingyi, I am afraid your mind has long surpassed mine. Such a good plan…” A-Yuan patted his arm, still giggling softly, in consolation. Lan Xichen tried very hard to keep his faux despairing tune one and not become endeared. “I fear there is no other choice for me, then. I will have to use my secret technique.”
For a little bit of suspense, he let the silence guide their nerves high, refusing to meet their searching eyes as the xiao lans exchanged looks between themselves and then turned back to watch him tensely, expecting the  moment of his attack. Glancing at his friend, Lan Xichen noted both him and Jin ling staring at the silly moment, the first with a knowing smile and the latter with wide, attentive eyes.
“The Snacking Attack.”
“That is a stu- silly namEEEEEK!!” Jingyi's commentary grew louder with another shriek as Lan Xichen tilted him a little to the side and pressed his face on his belly, placing freely and playfully nimbly nibbles and buzzing raspberries on every inch of the tickle spot. “NO! XICHEN-GE!!”
Different from Lan Yuan, who was always fond of muffling his reactions and closing his eyes from the uncontrollable, loud laughter tickling usually pried from him, Lan Jingyi did the completely opposite, he crackled and shrieked freely, limbs trashing, kicking and squirming with no hope of coordination or escape, missing his every attempt to pushing the buzzing, electric feeling that jumped and tingled his nerves away with every tickle. Lan Xichen made sure to bury his face as much as he could on the spot before replying, shaking it from one side to another with another raspberry.
“Hm?” The words vibrated from his belly to his entire torso. Lan Jingyi wheezed and crackled in reply, one hand coming to his hair to push him away. Lan Xichen hummed again, just to be sure. “I apologize, could you repeat that? I couldn’t quite grasp your words. Someone is laughing really loudly nearby and it muffled your sentence. It’s a good thing that we’re not in Cloud Recess, I suppose, otherwise I would have to catch that giggly person and explain the benefits of keeping a calm, collected mind.”
It would be quite amusing to try to hold a conversation with him. While A-Yuan would at least try to stay focused on what he was saying and in his surrounding, Jingyi seemed to forget every and any single thing in the very moment a small poke attacked his side, his mind focusing in nothing else but the sensation and in almost no time the boy would be jolting and squealing in surprise every time a new spot was tickled, even if he saw the attack come from a li away.
“NO!” He squawked, laughing non stop “No tickling! You’re cheating!!”
“Is that so? I wasn’t under the impression we were playing a game.” Satisfied with the wheezing turn that his laughter took, Lan Xichen lifted his face, smiling calmly at the kid when his beaming eyes found his, airy chuckles and subdued crackles still spilling from him, arms crashing down to protect his torso “I apologize. Please, if you would be so kind, explain to me, then, the rules of this game.”
“Yehehah!” Jingyi cheered excitedly, no longer hugging himself and starting to grin in mischievousness. He pointed a wobbly finger at him! “No ticklihihing.”
“No tickling.” Lan Xichen agreed. “What else?”
Jingyi pursed his lips, thinking. Suddenly, his eyes twinkled. “You must put A-Yuan on the ground!”
With narrowed eyes, he watched as Lan Xichen complied, his friend sagging and clutching the larger, white sleeves with a few snickers before letting them go and stumbling on the ground. Jingyi bounced in his arms in happiness, seeing that his wishes were truly being followed.
“Jin Ling must be here as well, for this and all of our games, tomorrow and then the tomorrow after that and then tomorrow after tomorrow! We have to tickle him too when he comes, so it’s fair. You must come to more of our games! And play fairly! No sneaking to talk with Jin-Zongzhu far away.”
Feeling his cheeks burn and how the kid didn’t look anywhere close to stopping, Lan Xichen finally pulled his final card.
With a light tune, he interrupted Jingyi.
“Excuse me, this is a very long list, I might if I am not in the best conditions, and to carefully contemplate each of your points and try my best to find a common place between us with them I will need to gather my energy and strength, alright?” Jingyi pouted, but there was no throwing a fit or planning another kidnap, which was a good signal though. “For that, you won’t mind if I have a snack, do you? To replenish the body and calm the soul. It will be really quick.”
They boy must have started to recognize his quirks, for the way he immediately became suspicious. However, when he realized the possible meaning of his words, it was already too late.
“Would you like some more raspberries?”
He gasped. “NO-”
Suddenly his entire ribs were being devoured in long, loud and buzzing raspberries that made him almost fall from the other’s grip. Unrestrained, high pitched, squeaking and shrieking laughter filled the yard as his mind was completely taken over by the mischievous attack.
Lan Xichen lifted his mouth, but for the way that the squeaks and squeals continued to fill the air, he might as well had continued his tickly endeavor.
“A delicious meal, indeed.” Jingyi crackled and laughed, legs kicking and tiny hands coming to rest in his face. “A-Yi, please,” his tune was amused and exasperated. “You’re aware of our rules: one must not talk during their meals. Yet, I can hear your cute laughter loud and clear, you must cease this loud behavior at once.”
“You’re tickling me!!”
“Am I?” Deciding to finally stop his playing and teasing, Lan Xichen stopped his tickles and pulled himself back to his usual straightened posture, a fond smile gracing his lips as he watched the young one in his arms giggle and squirm. “I was under the impression that I was simply offering some raspberries for a snack. I apologize.”
As the other recuperated his breath, the adult turned to look downwards, seeing big grey eyes staring right back at him. A-Yuan jolted and looked down, holding the hem of his clothes and stepping closer to him.
It was not difficult at all to see what he wanted.
Adjusting A-Yi, Lan Xichen scooped the kid again, laying tiny raspberries all across his neck and cheeks, until a twin pair of giggles were ringing loudly in the air.
“Er-ge must be really hungry today.” A-Yao glided closer, uncaring for how Jin Ling chewed at the string of his hat, a playful light in his eyes. “Perhaps I should assure a larger assortment of snacks during our time in the conference. Jintali is proud of their hospitality, especially for allies.”
“A-Yao.” Lan Xichen huffs a laugh, lightly scolding.
A shout and trashing attracted his attention back to the Lans on his arms, who, at some point, engaged in a tickle fight between themselves. Jingyi had captured Yuan’s feet and was attacking his friend with energetic scribbles while the other tried to pry his fingers away, laughing and squirming freely, one hand getting dangerously close too A-Yi’s own leg, but the kid was much preoccupied shouting about his victory to notice.
Lan Xichen's heart was truly weak, seeing both of them having fun and being loud like that made it melt from cuteness. Of course, his sect’s rules weren’t as harsh for the kids as it was for the adults who should know better, but the sight of the boys playfully fighting and being unapologetic loud about their joy was a rare enough occurrence that should be enjoyed.
After a few moments of a light brawl and more giggles, Lan Xichen couldn’t help but turn around to rest a fond kiss on the top of their heads. He sighed contentedly, uncaring for a few kicks or slaps that found their way to his chest. Nothing better to light up after an exhausting conference than to hear such some bright laughter, it was almost as if all his energy was being replenished after this moment. The fact that both kids would be tired enough for their bedtime today was also a good consequence of all this fooling around.
Shrieking laughter and snorts ran like a lovely melody across the yard.
“What is happening here? Who is being murdered?!”
Lan Xichen turned in time to see Jiang Wanyin's frowning face emerge from the inner’s doors as he stormed across it. His gaze clued on him, eyes passing through his face and the laughing kids in his arms as confusion blinked for a moment in his eyes before being replaced by his usual closed expression.
“Zewu Jun.” He bowed formally and, as Lan Xichen lowered to put the kids on the ground and return the gesture, lifted his hand in a halting motion. “No need. I am not staying long, I only came here to get my nephew.”
“Sect Leader Jiang.” A-Yao stepped close, receiving the bow from the other and answering in kind with a smile full of politeness but with little truth. In his arms, Jin Ling squirmed until he put him on the ground, the little one wobbling to his jiujiu until he could latch on his legs with a squeal and a long winded babbling.
For a moment, the fondness on both of Sect Leader’s eyes was so strong that Lan Xichen really wished they could get along easier, being so equally caring about Jin Ling.
The spell was over soon, however.
“Of course, I will ask the maidens to prepare his belongings for the trip.” Jin Guangyao made a flourish with his hand and sent a message butterfly to the inner part of the palace. One of Wanyin’s eyes twitched. “Has this year’s conference been fruitful for you?”
“As much as it can be.” Jiang Wanyin replied with a slightly less polite tune, but with an equal void of truth. “The Jiang Yummeng Sect thanks the Jin Sect for their hospitality.”
“Of course, our sects have been strong allies for years, and I am glad our hospitality shows my appreciation. Tell me, how has the rebuilding of Lotus Pier been?”
Before he could listen more of their exchange, Lan Xichen felt Jingyi squirming on his arm and remembered to put them on the ground, patting and adjusting their clothes until they were less wrinkled. All the while, Jingyi kept stealing glances at Jiang Wanyin and Jin Ling and then turning to him with big, pleading eyes. Yuan did the same, although his eyes barely found his before he was looking down, playing with the hem of his robes sadly.
The adult sighed and got up.
“Sect Leader Jiang.” Said one stopped what he was saying and turned at him sharply, his displeased face turning into a confused scowl, once again. “About Jin Ling’s departure, I believe there is something A-Yi and A-Yuan wanted to ask. They’ve already recomposed themselves.” He joked, reminding about how the other had found them playing in the yard.
Jiang Wanyin huffed, the corner of his lip twisting for a brief as if it wanted to break his sharp expression, but as quick as it came it was over. The Jiang turned completely at the kids, staring as Jingyi stared fiercely back. Lan Xichen laid an encouraging hand on their backs, pushing lightly forward.
“We would like to play a little more with A-Ling, please, Jiang-Zhongzhu.” A-Yuan bowed the proper height and then turned to Lan Xichen, who nodded in agreement.
Wanyin frowned (it felt a bit different than his previous one, even if Xichen couldn’t quite put his finger on why. His face was more expressive than his brother, moving and changing from expression to expression much more visibly, however, it was still hard to distinguish each one). “I will stay for a few hours while me and Liangfang-zun share a cup of tea and all of Jin Ling’s stuff gets prepared. You can play with him then, until we leave.”
“And then he’s gone forever?” Lan Shizui held Jingyi’s hand tightly, voice so small and low that it broke their hearts a little. A-Yao pressed his lips firmly, a bit guilty.
“He is not going to die,” Sect Leader Jiang rolled his eyes, tune half exasperated and half clipped, then seemed to realize whose presence he was and set himself even more straight. “You will see him again if Zewu Jun brings you for the next conference.”
“He is our friend! You can’t-”
“Lan Jingyi.” Lan Xichen cut before the boy could get even more worked up or Sandu Shengshou could get offended by his demeanor. Jingyi huffed and quieted down. “Do not let your emotions overcome you.” When all he received was a small nod from Jingyi and a big, sad eye from his nephew, with an internal sigh, he continued. “Perhaps Sect Leader Jiang would be amenable in setting a visiting date at Lotus Pier in the near future?” He doubted Jin Ling would enjoy the Cloud Recesses being so little.
Jiang Cheng tensed and looked at him, searching for something before his eyes fixated on the kids. The corner of his eyes were tight and expression seemed more sharp than normal. Eventually, he bowed, nor higher or lower than necessary. “The Gusu Lan Sect is always welcome in Lotus Pier. I will personally send a letter to set the date and details a couple of days after I settle in my office and take care of the most urgent matters.”
“Of course.” Lan Xichen bowed back. “Gusu Lan thank Sandu Shengshou for his offer. Me, Lan Shizui and Jingyi do thank you as well.”
“Yes!” Shizui caught his clue first and pulled him and Jingyi into a clumsy, too low for the situation, bow. Sect Leader Jiang’s face lost some of its tension then.
“It’s good for A-Ling to form strong bonds with the Lan Sect, maybe it will rub off some patience on his bad temper.” As to prove his words, he lightly poked the toddler’s nose and received an angry, long winded rant for it, tears gathering on the corner of his eyes as he moved his arms to clutch on the offending hand. The Jiang tsked and pulled him closer, bouncing in an attempt to ease him with an eye roll. Lan Xichen hummed in agreement, quietly amused.
“I will head to my quarters now and prepare the necessary documents for our discussion.” Both him and A-Yao nodded to each other and Lan Xichen followed the lead as well. The younger leader then turned his attention to the little Lans with an inexpressive face. “You two got something to say?”
Jingyi nodded and stepped forward, getting his arms full of a toddler when Jiang Cheng lowered Jin Ling back to the ground, Lan Shizui approached them and got trapped on the hug as well.
“I’m going to miss you.” He whispered.
Jin Ling simply accepted the affection before deciding it was enough and pushing them away. He turned around then and clung right back to his jiujiu’s leg, waving them as he gathered on his arms once more and they headed away, a Spider appearing from somewhere far, facing away from them following him close as Sect Leader Jiang marched back inside.
“Bye bye!”
After their shared dinner, Jiang Cheng announced that he would be staying for two more days (after, of course, the polite e politically expected back-and-forth where he stated not wanting it to be viewed as an imposition to the Jin Sect, to which A-Yao claimed that he was welcomed to stay as long as he felt like until it was decided) in Koi Tower before departing to Lotus Pier.
Only when Lan Xichen managed to put both children to sleep did he realize that this meant that Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling would be leaving the very same day he, Shizui and Jingyi were. An interested smile pulled at his lips at that.
Ever since that day, much more play dates had been arranged and a stronger bond formed between them, both with the adults and children. Sect Leader Jiang (then Jiang Wanyin and now simply Wanyin) and A-Yao became more amenable to each other, even if they continued to have a pleased joy in poking each other to their limits. Lan Jingyi and Shiziu were no longer small enough to be carried by Xichen nor needed him to arrange playdates, both already starting to lose the baby fat of their cheeks and go out on night hunts accompanied. Which meant that xiao Jin Ling already claimed himself too old for such “childish things” as well and pestered his uncle to be taken together on his own night hunts, resulting in plenty of bickering and annoyed letters being exchanged back and forth between the sects. The more the days passed by, the more Xichen got surprised with how fast they were growing up.
However, there was something they would never be too old to escape from.
Lan Jingyi’s surrounding awareness was growing better, Lan Xichen noticed, probably because of the uncountable shenanigans he and his friends (Shizui not excluded) continued getting into. The very memento Xichen approached him, stepping quietly closer as he saw the boy wander around while he was enjoying the calm evening, Jingyi immediately turned his head in his direction, freezing for a moment, eyes wide and body tensing, before dashing away.
Oh well, Xichen sighed, catching up with the young teen and gathering in no time a bundle of shrieking Jingyi in his arms. His smile was soft and his voice calm as he lectured him, no heat in his tune, but in a giant contrast with his hands, which were skillfully and fast at tickling his armpits, digging and drumming and making him thro his head back in laughter, legs kicking madly.
“Young Master Jingyi, I am sure you’re plenty aware of our sects’ rules, being an acquaintance to them just as much as I, despise our diffent ages.” Jingyi replied with loud crackling and Xichen sighed in faux admonishment, sparing a few fingers to wiggle over his highest ribs as his thumbs still tormented his armpits. “Therefore, we both know which rules you broke and are breaking at this very moment, don’t we? Can you please inform each one of them to me?”
Jingyi squealed and squirmed, trying in vain to escape him. When moments passed by with no response, Lan Xichen lightened his attack, deciding to instead scribble his fingers on his neck and pry higher pitched and uncontrollable giggles, in lieu of helping the boy.
“Take the time you need, A-Yi. I will be waiting for your answer right here.”
He highlighted the end of his sentence with even more tickles, Jingyi shook his head and fell completely on his arms, snickering and giggling non stop.
Patience was a virtue, and Lan Xichen wouldn’t want to hurry such a bright, young mind. Jingyi would come to share his answer when he was ready, he was sure. While that didn’t happen, Xichen was more than happy to stay exactly where he was, giving the boy all the motivation he needed.
Lan Shizui, (un)fortunately, was not so attentive nor as bold to break one of their main rules right in front of the heir of the sect, which allowed Lan Xichen to approach him and walk side by side before the boy was looking at him, his polite greeting vanishing on his lips when he saw the specific smile Lan Xichen had in his face, immediately changing, however, to the fastest pace possible one could get without running.
It was a little funny to see. Xichen, of course, matched him step by step, continuing at his side.
Shizui jolted when a poke landed on his side, too quick to be dodged, while a loud and embarrassing high pitched squeal almost escaped from his mouth. As he tried to dodge or change his path, more and more pokes attacked, falling on his back, wiggling on his sides, teasing his ribs and prodding his shoulder blades determinedly and relentlessly until he was left squeaking and stumbling on his steps, no longer able to at least pretend to maintain a straight face as those playful and bright golden eyes (so much alike HuangJun that Shizui couldn’t help but feel himself smiling joyfully in reply) and being easily followed by his uncle.
“Young Master Shizui, where are you trying to go? Wouldn’t you accompany me for a walk?”
Shizui simply shook his head, snickers and chuckles muffled by his hands that immediately when to cover his face, red spreading across his ears and neck at the playful words and tickles that continued to tease him through all the way.
Jingyi and Shizui never got to really understand what impulsed the First Jade to get so mischievous asn silly around them, how he could find both when they were on a bad mood or after a rough day and put a content smile on their face, but each time they would be greeted with that same grin and a warm embrace. Memories would spill from when they were both tiny enough to hide behind him amidst his robes and they perhaps would never be able to admit out loud, but Jingyi and Shizui were more than happy to be reminded of such fond, cherished moments of their childhood.
Xichen, as well, never told anyone, but all of them knew he was more than happy to continue to share this piece of playfulness with the ones he watched and helped to grow up.
In the end, there are simply things that they wouldn’t truly wish to escape.

EXTRAS
The story Lan Xichen was reading for small Lan Zhan wasn’t something Lan Qiren choose (he favored the poetry books, but those would have to wait until the kids were older) but that the kids received as a present from one of the elder and, much for his chagrin, one that Lan Zhan loved with all his heart and asked to Xichen to read for him every night for years refusing to go to sleep otherwise and getting incredibly fussy on the next day if he didn’t.
Lan Xichen tickling Lan Yuan: <3 <3 <3 awwww look at my nephew he is so cute <3 <3 very smol very polite
Lan Xichen tickling Lan Jingyi: >:]] So you’ve chosen death >:]]]
To the little girl that I met on the park when I was 7 and who rattled out her little brother's worst tickle spot as his ankles: thank you so much I have never forget this moment and I hope I am doing right by your name to honor the knowledge you gave me and using it to torment my dear fictional characters <3

Okay thoughts thoughts
First of all, Lan Zhan is a true sweetheart. I understand the undying love the fan base has for him. I also fully understand why the girl commented ‘ofc lan zhan fell in love with you’ proceeding to mention an endless number of qualities Wei Ying has… but man, it’s the storytelling. How the messaging comes together. Like it finally clicked in my head as I just finished an episode. When Wei Ying became so powerful that he couldn’t be controlled, the evil person came and tried to create a campaign against him… damn, and what a story that was. It just makes sense. Everything makes sense. And all of the sadness and betrayal and grief, I feel it to my core as if I’m the person going through it. That is a mark of a masterpiece. This is much more than just a bl nonsense hype thing bro. The franchise is mind-blowing.

5. Hi again, thanks for your hard work. Hope it isn't a bother to ask for a resubmission of my earlier request to see if anyone can recognise the fics. A) So there are two fics that I haven't been able to find. The first one was a case fic of some kind where wx were with a bunch of junior lans. There was a scene where they started making out on a table (i think it was their first kiss, like a post-canon get together) and jiang cheng, who has come to help, walks in on them. Cue yunmeng bros squaking. B) The second was also wangxian post-canon. I can only remember one scene where Jin Ling bursts into Jiang Cheng's room and triggers a ptsd response from the sunshot campaign. JC then scolds JL for startling people who had been in a war. I'm not sure if wx were background or not. Thanks in advance!! @lunaloup

7. Hi! I'm hoping you could help me find a fic that i've been looking for for a few days. I think it was on ao3, and in this fic wwx has an idea to help the lans with the waterborne abyss, but only tels lwj thinking it won't be taken seriously. Only lwj does take it serious and they end up using a yin lure flag (or some variation) to lead the waterborne abyss to some lake where the lans can take care of it without causing to much trouble for the people of Caiyi. I can very clearly remember lwj helping wwx look at maps to figure out in which lake the waterborne abyss could be handled easily and how they could get it there, but I don't remember much else. Thanks!!! @m4rieke

8. Hello, i am searching a fic it was in spanish and on wattpad. Story : Jiang cheng owns a coffee shop where he gets kidnapped by wen chao. Lan xichen is the husband of JC and he is a judge. Lan wanji is a lwayer and wei ying is a detective that put most of the bad wens is prison. wen chao was on the run, it was supposed to be jin ling that got kidnapped but instead they took JC where they tortured him. I think when i translated it the title was something like 'jiujiu isn't there' but i can't find @jiangcheng1709
~*~
9. Hey,
I'm not sure if it is one or two fics.
I think it is a time travel fic.
The first scene I remember is that SS dies during the Waterborn abyss scene which LZ (?) regrets because it makes his brother cry (?). At the same time he says to himself that SS need to die but he regrets that he gave his brother this burden or something like this.
The second scene is LZ who organizes a punishment for JC, NHS and other people who broke rules except WY. He met WY earlier in the night and sent him to his room. LZ gave him his robe (?) and in the next morning WY woke up and run to the punishment room only wearing this robe to save JC. He talked with LZ to punish him instead JC but LZ said something like he would never punish WY.
Later LZ fights with his uncle because he never punishes the sects heir and mostly WWX.
I think the fic was a wip.
Thank you in advance!

11. Hello! was looking for a fic which begins with lwj performing clarity to calm spirits in the jingshi, while he is doing this he comes in contact with spirit wwx (they have not met and do not know each other) who was a rogue cultivator and died young I think? anyway lwj tries to find out why spirit wwx is unable to rest in peace and is still in this world.
I remember this one particular scene where lwj defeats the tortoise of slaughter with the help of spirit wwx, and later on in the fic wwx's spirit dissipates but it has a happy ending cuz he comes back. please and thank you!! @ilikebredandstars

12. Ok, I’ve looked under every description I can think of, and I think it might have gotten deleted. Even so I’d still like to find it. What I remember is Wei Ying and Lan Xhan are both kids again. Wwx decides he’s done with the Cultivation Sects and gets himself adopted by a farmer in Yiling. Lwj doesn’t talk to any of the Lans and sticks around to get his sword and summon the ghost of his mother then dips. He eventually finds Wwx and they get together and stick around Wwx new family. @marmaladeshinigami

13. Hello I was looking for this time travel fix it fic, where lwj and wwx both travel back into the past in their younger bodies. 14. Hi! I would like to find fic where LZ breaks up with WWX because of LQR. WWX’s mental health goes much more worse and he has nightmares due to his ex boyfriend XY. Finally he lays in the bath and drinks alcohol and calls LZ and he calls ambulance and then they make up

15. Ahoy, first time needing help finding a fic, kinda nervous🫦
I'm desperately looking for a Yunmeng bros reconciliation fic that was written from JC's POV. Iirc it was post-(novel?) canon and WWX and LWJ were already married, there were some sect politics and WWX and JC slowly grew closer again because they both care for JL. It had some angst but no smut as far as I know.
Ik this isn't the most detailed description but I thought I had it bookmarked and it isn't there😭  I even tried to go through my entire history but I never cleared that and it's LONG so no luck. Is there maybe anyone who knows what fic I'm talking about? 💔
Thank you guys for your hard work and maintaining this account! Sending love! @jorolle

17. Hi! I was pointed in your direction so it would be amazing if you could help me :D
I read a Wangxian fic on AO3 a few years ago b ur I haven’t been able to find it since.
It was essentially a retelling of events from the novel entirely from LWJ’s POV (3rd person).
Had a lot of pining and angst in it. From what I can remember, these events definitely happened:
The Wen Archery Tournament: where LWJ talks about wanting to see WWX again but then thinks WWX doesn’t remember who he is.
LWJ getting drunk because he thinks that maybe if he loses his inhibitions a bit he can express himself better
The aftermath of the inn scene which is very angsty and then meeting Fairy who taps out that WWX is at Guanyin Temple.
Guanyin Temple
There’s definitely others but it’s been a long time since I read it and this is the most I can remember.
It had an angst with a happy ending vibe if memory serves me correctly. It would be amazing if you can help me track this down I wish I could reread it.
During the interval period of Wei Ying’s death, LWJ is at Carp Tower (now run by JGY) and gets hit on by a male acrobatic performer. He’s almost into it before noting he might have been drugged by something and rejecting the guy. He then worries that someone might have discovered a collection of his stuff that would reveal he’s gay.
Later on in the story after WWX’s resurrection and the reveal that JGY stole from the Lan Secret Library, he mentions the incident to Zewu-jun and asks if he noted anything weird about what he drank at the Carp Tower implying JGY might have drugged Zewu-Jun at the same event.
Zewu-jun says something along the lines of “he wouldn’t do that”.
Thank you! @danmeidiaries

19. Hi! I have a fic finder request, please. It is a modern au where WWX is a vlogger who makes idyllic vlogs about life in the Chinese countryside. LWJ is a famous classical musician who takes a vacation in WWX's village and they grow close. I think fans recognize LWJ in WWX's vlog. 20. Hi!! I hope you are doing well! I can't seem to find this fic where lan wangji is older amd a teacher at cloud recess when wei wuxian and the Jiang sect come to study. Over the course of time, he kind of realizes the genius that wei wuxian really is and the miss treatment that he is getting at the Jiang sect. It somewhat follows the original Mo dao zu shi script but there is a lot of Jiang cheng Bashing that happens through out the fic. Also there is a part where WY has to drink demon blood to maintain control over his demonic cultivation and he dosent do that and faints. Sorry if it's a little vague but these were the only specifics I could remember. If I remember correctly it was a discontinued fic last I read it.

Wei Ying running late on his first day of being an intern, and running into Lan Zhan while he holds his coffee and there's this whole thing
Then Wei Ying goes with Lan Xichen into a meeting to meet all the interesting people and sees !Lan Zhan! The hot guy he bumped into! (And Lan Qiren ofc and other people)
Also he like probably mixes Lan Xichen and Lan Zhan up and starts apologizing again lmao- WAIT I HAVE EVEN MORE RN
Am I gonna post the whole Story line into here? Probably. Bc I don't even know if I'm gonna write it
But tbh it sounds a bit too clique :|
Tbh im thinking about making a fic about Wei Wuxian in marketing
Do I have more to off on? No.
I just hate marketing rl hard and have an exam to pass- And how to make all the useless information to me stick into my head?
Solution: Make a fanfic about it

EVERY DAY IS EVERY DAY
Manhua artist Mao Tuan Xiao Jian Jian-laoshi serves up the last part of WangXian's papapa scene from chap 111 of the novel (what would've been chap 256 if the world was a perfect place). Go to their Twitter @maotuanxjj for all the missing goodies 🍆 and to send them some love.

Again, I love this sexy gremlin so much 😭😭

Hornee Lan Zhan is adorable.

😭😭😭💖
And that's it for WangXian's first full papapa scene! There are of course more ppp scenes in the extras chapters of the novel...the most famous of them ofc courtesy of the Incense Burner (WangXian's wonderful adventures in the Library Pavilion and Bichen's amazing journey up Wei Ying's 💮, for example), but again that's not ALL that the extras are about! They're really the happily ever after moments of WangXian and a lot of it is so freaking sweet and romantic! And while their dreamworld sexcapades may get a bit too adventurous for some, they're all bourne from their immense love and healthy lust for each other and we should all hope that we are blessed with what they have. Not to mention, one of the extras even gives us a flashback involving Jin Guangyao and Xue Yang, so again, it's not all just about the sex so don't be misled into skipping them!
Mao Tuan XJJ-laoshi has already illustrated the Incense Burner Library Pavilion scene a while back but I do hope they will continue with illustrating the Gusu Lan banquet extra and all the other extras in this unofficial way. I am deeply saddened that because this is all unofficial we will never see these scenes as a part of the official English release of the manhua, but I hope everyone will still support the Eng volumes by purchasing them, as a way of showing our support for MXTX-laoshi.
To purchase English releases of all of MXTX's novels, go to Sevenseasdanmei.

Hello :3 About mdzs, it's so nice you've tried all adaptations :) I'm curious but do you have a favorite moment in the book? also if I may ask again, between drama/anime/dramaCD, what is your favorite version of the wangxian song? :D sorry for all the questions, you can ignore if you want~ have a nice day, and thank you so much for offer us amazing mdzs content!!!
AHHH!! Thank you for all the questions heheheheh I love talking about MDZS sldfkj. Thank you so much!! And you read MDZS too!!!!!!!! <3333333
Spoiler warning!
Favorite version of the WangXian song:
Definitely the Chinese Drama CD's WangXian!!!! It's the MOST BEAUTIFUL THING EVER!!!!
I've repeated it 10 billion times.
Random favorite moment:
When Wei Wuxian was making drunk and dirty Lan Wangji take a bath to clean himself up after the chickens and vandalism and Lan Wangji also swiftly took off Wei Wuxian's clothing's tie and Wei Wuxian was like "No, no!? I'm not gonna go in with you!?"
It's the time Wei Wuxian wanted to ask drunk Lan Wangji how he felt about him (and kept telling himself that's all his motive). It's so cute how embarrassed Wei Wuxian was about the bath scene, even while he already saw nekkid Lan Wangji in the past. You can really see how conscious he is of Lan Wangji as a romantic interest and I think this kind of "first time" -ness of Wei Wuxian was really cute, even while he was actively trying to know Lan Wangji's feelings for him.
Meaningful favorite moment:
This is difficult!!! I love so many things.
I loved when Wei Wuxian was showing Lan Wangji around Yunmeng/Lotus Pier. Lan Wangji always overtly "rejected" Wei Wuxian's insistent invitations before, he "appeared" in Yunmeng before but it was never an "official visitation" and Wei Wuxian didn't think it was him Lan Wangji was looking for, and it ended in an argument when Lan Wangji insisted on Wei Wuxian to come back to Gusu with him again.
So when Wei Wuxian finally got the chance to have Lan Wangji in Yunmeng to show around, it was so cute (while also sad because of all the memories of his childhood he can't have back, but I am so happy that he got to actually go back, with Lan Wangji - he doesn't have to be alone).
It's like doing everything he wanted to do with Lan Wangji before, and more. He showed all his childhood trails, made Lan Wangji eat the foods he liked, visited the memorial of his foster parents to let them meet Lan Wangji no matter what (and did the two bows with him while holding off on the third bow for a hopeful some day ;o; ), climbed the tree he was stuck in (but didn't tell him the real reason ofc ;w; ), and of course, the moment he jumped straight into Lan Wangji's arms and he caught him (;-; ). It's so cute the way Wei Wuxian slowly realized his own feelings secretly and it was so nice seeing him just....... having a date with Lan Zhan (before he was only 3 year old Xian Xian asking his sister what it's like to like someone... but now he is... at least 10 year old Xian Xian XDDD), and then later slowly moved to know Lan Wangji's feelings as well. (;o; )
*****
Wei Wuxian to Wen Chao
"Oh, can you remind me again what punishment awaits those who humiliate a Wen cultivator? How are they punished again? If I remember correctly, I think they are cut down and killed on the spot. Is that correct? Yeah... That's nice.
So you can go die now"
******
"I have to make sure to repay the debt they have granted me"
"Nonesense! Why do you make other people pay the price for the debt that you owe!"
******
I also liked, in the cave, when Lan Wangji saved Wei Wuxian and got his foot bit by Xuanwu, and while he was being dragged away Wei Wuxian saved Lan Wangji then carried him away.
Oh and any image of Lan Wangi, Wei Wuxian and A-yuan.
(T.T )
******
"I REALLY WANTED TO SLEEP WITH YOU!!!"
******
And when Wei Wuxian lets Lan Wangji save him hehe in Guanyin Temple hehe.
I think there are so much more but I just can't remember right now but ahhhh everything is perfect. I love Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. Times were so rough and sad before but everything is paid off in the end and they are happy husbands (;o; )!!!
Again, thank you so much!!! Hehehe I might edit if I remember more...

So guess who suddenly got obsessed with MoDao ZuShi?? A friend reccommended the show last month and my life got swallowed in this fandom - I've been rewatching again and again, crying my eyes out over how the best boi ever could try his best at doing everything right and still be made the boogieman after dying so unfairly- I will fight people for this man!!!
Ofc my first ever comfort character has to be the literal demonic grandmaster-
And don’t get me started on how I then wanted to watch adaptations of MXTX other works, saw the first season of Heaven Officials Blessing and then emotionally scarred myself by reading the novel in two weeks of 2nd hand trauma-
I physically hurt over how much I adore these works asdfghjkl
so anyways, if anyone is up for screaming at each other about how tragic Lan Zhan’s 13 years of mourning were, how Wen Ning is adorable af, or how the Yiling Patriarch should have statues raised in his honor - I’m game
