my friend has ONLY seen around the first 30 minutes of unexpected journey. he got very confused on why the dwarf that found the arkenstone got nothing and the king took it instead. he joked that maybe that guy got like, an acorn or something. AN ACORN.

Okay, but like. What of Thorin survived and Bilbo and he lived together, and Thorin was able to help Bilbo shoulder a little more of the weight of the ring because of his own experience with dragon sickness and Bilbo never had to fear becoming a monster because Thorin would never let him, the same way Bilbo did everything he could to help Thorin, and in the end they were able to hand the ring over to Frodo themselves in person alongside Gandalf to give him the most support possible for his quest... I just think there's a lot of hurt/comfort right there just waiting to be mined (ba dum tss).

That being said, if anybody knows a fic like this... 👀
