I'd love to see the goofy guy Patch from dawn of new riders! Chimeragons really made one appearance, became way too op, and then disappeared into obscurity. But look at the guy...he so ugly and goofy I love him

So funny story. I watched a playthrough of this game when it first came out in 2019, and it's been on my wish list ever since (mostly because of the flight mechanics lol) And now that I found these asks in my inbox again, I checked the Nintendo Store just in case, and it had a 55% discount??? So I got the game and spent the last 2 days playing it and now I'm a changed man (as of posting this, the discount lasts for 2 more days!)

More thoughts and spoilers for the game under the cut!

I made Patch MLM colored instead of some other random Chimeragon, because the game has shown us that he can change colors with every rebirth, which I think is pretty neat :) It also explains why neither Scribbler nor Eir recognize Patch, even after he grows to be a Broadwing and then a Titanwing- if he changes his colors every time he hatches again, then yeah, no wonder they believed there's more than one Chimeragon

I knew what the big twist was going to be at the end because of the playthrough, but MAN does this game not hold its punches. The writers really asked "How can we elevate the Best Friends Forever thing to a whole new level?" and then made Scribbler witness the death and rebirth of his best friend, and now I have to draw these guys with literal tears in my eyes 👍

The sentiment that their friendship literally transcends life and death is so meaningful to me. Patch will continue to die and resurrect, and Scribbler will be there every time to welcome him and forge their bond all over again. The mystery of Scribbler's past, his involvement with Grimmel, and the open ending leave so much room for speculation and theorizing and it's just so incredibly up my alley, it's like it was made in a lab for me lol

This game ended up being a lot darker than I was expecting, but it was honestly so refreshing. The mechanics are simple enough for younger kids to learn, and the artstyle is very evidently targeted at kids as well, but some of the dialogue and the entire theme of death and inevitable loss feels surprisingly mature in contrast. They make you go to Vanaheim and hold a burial for Patch before he resurrects, literally what other kids' game does that?? /pos

Anyways play this game, it's a short and sweet little self-contained adventure, which accomplishes the one task it set out to accomplish: making me cry, specifically

touch of death - when a card bearing this sigil damages another creature, that creature perishes.

hidden trait - gemmified

when a sigil is transferred to this card, it becomes gemmified. gemmified cards gain +1 power, +2 health, and -1 cost.

COBRADILE!! this was probably the most fun card to make out of all of them. also probably the prettiest card imo!!! writeup below!!

sniper and touch of death! pretty deadly combo. literally. you can just kill any card you please from any spot on the board. i was DEAD SET on giving her the sniper sigil. it just felt right.

GEMMIFICATION YIPEEE! this is a mechanic from act 3! but mox cards appear in act 2 as well. in base game inscryption, you need to have specific gem vessels on the field in order to activate the buffs (ruby for power, emerald for health, and sapphire for cost) but! mox cards and gem vessels aren’t really. in kaycee’s mod. and it would be super clunky to add them for a single card! so all you have to do is sacrifice a card’s sigils onto her. is this a little broken? maybe. but this is inscryption, literally everything is broken lol

^expanding on this, it still kinda fits lorewise? ka buans do compress their ashes into diamonds after all. let’s say that they compressed the creature into a diamond or something and that’s what’s powering her, idk

ok i’ll stop talking about the mox thing after this. both sif and odile were given mechanics from the other scrybes! siffrin requires bone tokens (grimmora) and odile has mox (magnificus). no sorry there’s nothing for p03. they don’t have computers in the isat world i think. i’m pretty sure.

initially i wanted to make her a stork or an ibis, but. all avian cards have the airborne sigil. which makes their attacks hit the opponent directly instead of their creatures. and that defeats the entire purpose of sniper. so she gets to be a spitting cobra! i think it’s more fun this way anyways. more fun shapes.

also this kinda spoils bonnie’s card a little but!! i put thought into the tribes too!!! the vaugardians (mirabelle, isabeau, and bonnie) are all from the hooved tribe! odile is a reptile and sif is tribeless because they’re outsiders. teehee.

ok patch time. she gets double strike, which makes her attack twice (as the name implies). i chose this in reference to memory of first strike (it just reminds me of it? idk) and also because it synergizes with sniper! you get to oneshot TWO cards in one turn! good god! odile really is merciless

that’s everything important about this card! i know this is long as hell but! that’s what happens when you introduce an entire new mechanic. i guess. anyways alt card art!!!

whoever asked for my Olivia design THANK YOU because this is the first thing ive drawn seriously in months.

the red is notes/adjustments on a traditional mouse design, and the blue is a mouse skeleton. also i need to to learn how to draw paws because by god she looks like a mole furries give me pointers please

and since my handwriting is dogshit I'll provide transcription/elaboration below (because as I was drawing her I kept thinking "I don't know how to draw this but it's important to her design")

whiskers are made of wire and can be used to detect spacial surroundings (if an area is too small? idk what the terminology for this is) as well as wind speed/direction

big af eyes, on account of being a mechanical, hand-made mouse that needs maintenance from a human with glasses

ears tilt around to best detect sound + possible other things if programmed to? there's not exactly radio waves around back then but maybe she's like a geiger counter or something too idk

since her back legs provide the most protection and stability, her "brain"/computing piece (if she has one) is in her butt. Hugo has made sure her back thighs/legs are extra durable because of this, while her abdomen area is primarily for ventilation*

her nails/claws have been replaced several times to keep them sharp, and sometimes they break because they are tiny

her tail is made of titanium and the threading (???) on it was super hard to achieve, her tail is probably Hugo's second proudest part of her (after Olivia's personality, but if anyone asks he's proudest of the tail) (basically it just means that her tail is super strong and flexible)

she's got little teeth! for biting and for grip on objects. Also, her jaw opens farther back than you'd expect. It's unnerving.

Old Mechs patch I never posted about!! (Mostly bc I never finished stitching the gears on .... They're such a pain to sew on, especially over the pockets, that I probably never will though so may as well share now!!) She's so crusty and cracked..... Love her..... <3

It's one of the patches on my battle/patch jacket btw!! (Unsure if I'm supposed to use battle jacket or just patch jacket since it's not really punk/metal? So maybe just patch jacket.) I keep thinking about posting the whole thing then get nervous and back out :) so take my current fav patch for now!!! (Again the gears are a pain but I freaking adore them so maybe one day I'll add more.....)
