Chen Bowen as CHEN YI & Chiang Tien as AI DI KISEKI: DEAR TO ME (2023)
#kiseki: dear to me#kisekiedit#kdtm#kiseki dear to me#ai di x chen yi#chen yi x ai di#nat chen#chen bowen#louis chiang#chiang tien#jiang dian#userspring#uservid#pdribs#userspicy#userjjessi#*cajedit#*gif#uh huh. mmhm. parallels and shit#OK LIKE. in nice words ai di essentially tells chen yi to go for it BUT bc hes a Lil Shit he says it like 'use force to PROVE how you feel.#followed by '.....OH WAIT YOU CANT BEAT HIM'. the way he rubs that in chen yi's face too like it isnt even 'youre weaker than him.'#it's you're LOWER than him. & thats why ai di calls him a coward bc therell always be a divide between chen yi & cdy that chen yi wont cros#and the point of this is - okay i know chen yi is literally picking ai di up and throwing him around here but also you have to remember#ai di LETS HIM. ai di doesnt fight back as hard as he could and that puts them on EVEN. EQUAL. GROUND. every time.#& yeah theres some comedy to it but you cant Ever forget that ai di wants chen yi to want him. needs it. he's faking sleep in the 1st scene#and once chen yi realizes what he wants he puts everything he has into keeping it - inadvertently taking ai di's advice by doing so -#& expresses it in every kind of way too. whatever it takes. bc between the two of them its not just 'bring him back' it's 'bring him HOME'#in a way thats based on the constantly being witness to the worst of each other & choosing it AND. years and layers of trust & love.#..ok only I would take a gifset of chen yi picking ai di up & make it abt how their relationship is perfectly balanced. but im right so idc#the last one ties it all together in my onion. chen yi got him home. and ai di's deliberately allowing himself to be loved. they won

I really love how, in the course of her confrontation with Lady Catherine de Bourgh, Elizabeth echoes a sentiment that she earlier expressed to Jane about how, so long as the couple in question are happy with each other... who cares what the rest of society thinks? Which causes Lady Catherine to exclaim the infamous and iconic, 'obstinate, headstrong girl!'
In Chapter 21, Elizabeth and Jane are discussing potential reasons for Mr Bingley's abrupt departure from Netherfield. Jane, who always sees the best in people, naturally refuses to believe Elizabeth when she argues that it was Caroline's doing, as Miss Bingley is determined for her brother to marry Georgiana and even goes so far as to say that Jane should still marry Bingley, even if it goes against the wishes of his family and friends.
To which Jane replies:
'But, my dear sister, can I be happy, even supposing the best, in accepting a man whose sisters and friends are all wishing him to marry elsewhere?' 'You must decide for yourself,' said Elizabeth; 'and if, upon mature deliberation, you find that the misery of disobliging his two sisters is more than equivalent to the happiness of being his wife, I advise you by all means to refuse him.'
Essentially, Elizabeth advises Jane to ignore whatever Caroline wishes and focus on how deeply Jane and Bingley regard each other as, if they truly care about each other so greatly (and Elizabeth can see that they do) the opinions of others will simply not matter. Especially when such opinions are influenced by snobbery.
Later, in Chapter 56, Lady Catherine attempts to threaten Elizabeth into rejecting any proposal that might follow from Darcy by reminding her that it will lead to the prospective couple being ostracised by Darcy's noble relations:
'Do you pay no regard to the wishes of his friends? To his tacit engagement with Miss de Bourgh? Are you lost to every feeling of propriety and delicacy? Have you not heard me say that from his earliest hours he was destined for his cousin?' 'Yes, and I had heard it before. But what is that to me? If there is no other objection to my marrying your nephew, I shall certainly not be kept from it by knowing that his mother and aunt wished him to marry Miss de Bourgh. You both did as much as you could in planning the marriage. Its completion depended on others. If Mr. Darcy is neither by honour nor inclination confined to his cousin, why is not he to make another choice? And if I am that choice, why may not I accept him?' 'Because honour, decorum, prudence, nay, interest, forbid it. Yes, Miss Bennet, interest; for do not expect to be noticed by his family or friends, if you wilfully act against the inclinations of all. You will be censured, slighted, and despised, by everyone connected with him. Your alliance will be a disgrace; your name will never even be mentioned by any of us.' 'These are heavy misfortunes,' replied Elizabeth. 'But the wife of Mr Darcy must have such extraordinary sources of happiness necessarily attached to her situation, that she could, upon the whole, have no cause to repine.'
In employing such a threat, Lady Catherine proves that, like her nephew once did, she has grossly underestimated Elizabeth Bennet. Of course, such a threat may work on others of milder temperaments, like Jane. Undoubtedly, Lady Catherine will have previously employed such warnings to great success. But Elizabeth is not a woman likely to be intimidated. In fact, in all that she has seen of Darcy's relations (save for Colonel Fitzwilliam and Georgiana) she would probably relish such a lack of contact with them!
This exchange also demonstrates that Elizabeth understands how, if Darcy seriously wanted to marry Anne, or felt obliged to (man of duty to his family that he is) he would already have done so. And, in my opinion, it's another lovely sign of how highly an opinion of Darcy Elizabeth now holds. Rather than wishing him to have a miserable life, she now believes Mr Darcy deserves better than being pressured by his family into a marriage with a woman that she previously dismissed as 'sickly and cross.'
Most of all, she knows that a life with Mr Darcy would be a joyous one indeed and, despite the wishes of his family, that both Elizabeth and Mr Darcy do deserve such happiness.

bunnydoll really is just two sides of the same coin. they wear a mask to hide their true self as a coping mechanism, but while ragatha does it in order to show others the best version of herself (chosing to take a more social and positive role, regardless of how it's affecting her mental state, bc to her, being well liked is better than being alone) while jax on the other hand shows only the worst version of himself (regardless of the isolation it brings him, bc in his eyes, nothing is worse than faking kindness)
they make me so unwell.

is it too early to say that the narrative of Jinx being Vander's daughter was an OOC characterisation used to overwrite her being Silco's daughter because they needed to speedrun her redemption without being controversial

I hope we get a scarf reveal soon. I feel like, with the inevitable “Gabriel was Monarch and Marinette lied about it” reveal, it could be interesting for Adrien to have a “Marinette made this scarf and never told me it wasn’t a gift from my dad” reveal. Because the scarf is an AGGRESSIVELY saner example of Marinette keeping something hidden for the sake of Adrien’s feelings; it could possibly help him see her motivations in a different context and be more forgiving when he realizes the truth about his father

We have the perfect set up for buddie canon, I can't get over it. Because Eddie has to make an active choice: go back to El Paso and take the job, or come home to L.A. for good, which would mean come home to Buck, since Buck's literally living in the house that's been his home for the past 7 years. He wouldn't be choosing L.A. for the 118 here, in fact he wasn't shown to be conflicted about the 118 in 8x17, the reason he stayed longer in L.A. is because he was worrying about Buck. So, the choice is his, and it wouldn't be out of necessity because he has a whole house and job as a firefighter waiting for him in El Paso. He would have no other reason to come back to L.A. than for Buck specifically, for their Buckley-Diaz family unit, fulfilling the foreshadowing of "You don't have to worry about that with me, sir. I'm single". He knows that Buck is family to him, he just hasn't realized the deeper meaning that it holds yet. Now throw in a little building collapse NDE to spark up that in love realization and he'll get there in no time. As for Buck, who could be forced to take a hard look at -and accept- his feelings for Eddie while being trapped, he would finally have the person he loves choosing to come back to him, and actually stay. This is just too perfect. I'm obsessed with it.

APPRENTICE: You- you're a monster SIR: Yes.
(Remnants Episode 11 "Torn Out Pages")
SIR: Fitting, either way, that you should call me a moth. Fitting that I should be one.
(Remnants Episode 29 "Moths")
This is one of my ideas for Sir of the Audio Drama 'Remnants' by Eira Major. I chose the Deaths-Head Hawk-Moth as inspiration for Sir mostly because of its name. If I recall correctly, the Apprentice also called Sir an endless nightsky (and beautiful). I might try and come up with more designs (granted I don't lose my motivation).
Anyway, go listen to Remnants, it's awesome.
"To be a monster is to be a hybrid signal, a lighthouse: both shelter and warning at once." (Ocean Vuong, On Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous)

Okay, so, this post made me think even more....
Both Reigen and Ekubo have their fake persona and force themselves to behave in a certain way, but they actually do it differently. It's like Reigen has a filter for all his emotions and he's altering all his feelings in one way or another. Ekubo, on the other hand, corrects only his overall image ("I'm a dangerous evil spirit and I have evil spirit goals!"), but his emotions just seem genuine most of the time!
Idk about you all, but I've never seen Ekubo and thought that he was pretending when he was with Mob or Ritsu.
I think Ritsu's arc is one of the clearest examples: it seems so obvious that Ekubo is genuinely likes spending time with Ritsu. He stays with him even after he realises he can't control his body (he realises he needs more power for it, but instead of leaving to eat some evil spirits or something he stays and helps this confused teenage boy to manage his new powers). I think it's pretty telling.
And later on he just forgets what he was planning to do. I see it as a proof that all his emotions were genuine. He simply stopped reminding himself what his goal was, but all the connections he made with his friends only got stronger.
I think Ekubo's "evil spirit" persona can be viewed an excuse for him to be what he wants to be. Because he can't just do that, he's not human, he isn't supposed to be with humans, to have friends, etc... but he twists that reality to still do exactly that.
Ekubo can't even acknowledge who he truly is, he can't apply the concept to himself. Meanwhile, Reigen knows who he is and what he wants... and he despises his hidden side. That's why he needs to change his feelings fundamentally and pretend much much more than Ekubo. That's the key difference, in my opinion. Reigen is ashamed of his true self, Ekubo is still in process of finding his true self, and that's why he's way more open about his emotions: he doesn't fully understand them or where they are coming from. And he slaps the label of "I'm doing this for my evil spirit goal!" on them because at least it makes sense to him.... until it doesn't. And he self-reflects, and we get the ending of the Broccoli arc. (Still freaking hurts 🥲🥲)
But, of course, later he returns and he does it in the exact moment when Reigen is ready to open up! That's... so beautiful actually... It's quite clear that Reigen was already determined to tell Mob everything and show the hidden side, but maybe Ekubo's presence made him even more determined and helped him panic a little less. Like, Ekubo literally resumes his existence from the finale of the Broccoli arc! And he has this fresh feeling of self-acceptance and understanding, and maybe during possession he feels what Reigen feels and goes like "That's alright, everything is fine, I did it, and you can also do this!" And lets Reigen do his speech. Happy ending!
