Portrait of Pirgruscha

A character portrait for a fellow player's character. Painting an old, non-human lady was a challenge, but I like the outcome. In that group there are only three players and all have created priests, so we have a good deal of speeches and miracles to work with. Fortunately they are more or less aligned in views, representing three of a pantheon of twelve in the Das Schwarze Auge setting; Pirgruscha's is the god of trade and thievery, who is associated with stars, hence the dark background.

Fire In the Horasian Empire, the sun rises in the west. It always has done so and it always will. When the legendary Horas, 2500 years ago, emerged from the sun, it rose in the west. When a thousand years later the settlers of Bosparan landed on the coast of Kuslik, it rose in the West. Every day until the fall of the mighty Bosparan Empire, the sun rose in the West. Only the Hela-Horas, the last Bosparan Empress, managed to let the sun not rise for her betrayal to the god of justice and sun brought despair to her empire. But even after the mighty Bosparan Empire had fallen, the sun again rose in the west, for it was an immutable law. So too found Magus Vertecio della Tegalliani on the morning of the third day in the month of the wise goddess. For three days already had he layed next to his daughter, for she was giving birth to twins. Just a year ago, Vertecio was hoping and waiting for this day. He wanted to have grandchildren so madly and when his daughter had finally found a man she could trust, he thought his chance to have finally arrived. Yet never had he heard of such a troublesome birth. “Twins”, had the nurse explained, she herself a seasoned servant of the goddess of health and fertility, “Twins tend to be a bit troublesome, for they always compete. And it seems that is even the case now, one doesn’t allow the other to see the light of the world first.” Those were her words two days ago, back then she seemed relaxed and even made the mage smile a bit. The day after, the wise woman didn’t seem as relaxed anymore, “My baron…”, she spoke to Vertecio, his heart sinking to the bottomless pit of his worst fears, “My baron…”, she repeated, something she did far too often and that Vertecio was beginning to feel rather irritating, “My baron!”. With her third repeat it made the mage look up. Not her repeats were impolite, but that he didn’t look at her. So deep in worry was he already after just the first day. In three days his worry did not subside, but instead taint the hope of the clerical woman. Each day Vertecio made it a point to sleep next to his daughter, hoping for if she was too fall weaker, his magic were to save her. But she didn’t even fall weaker, the contractions were steady to a fault. On the morning of the third Hesindian, the third day of the month of the wise goddess, he stepped out of the delivery room. For the first in three days he saw the sun rise. Meditation, something he usually did at this time, was not something he could do now. Instead sorrows overcame him. Worries for that his daughter might not be able to give birth two her twins… Vertecio was as aimless as he had ever been in his almost 50 years. Just an hour later, his sorrows went away, for his arms held firm and happy the two most beautiful small bundles of joy he had ever seen. On one side, the small and smiling Asmayla, her hair red as Vertecios himself. The sounds this baby made, more akin to gently cooing. On his right hand Ardare. With 56 centimeters she sure was tall for a newborn but didn’t weigh much more than her sister. Her hair was just as full as that of Asmayla, yet pale in comparison the it. She didn’t cry, didn’t smile but the way her tiny hands gripped into the robe of her grandfather sure showed she was a lively one. Vertecio was happy, for he finally had but two grandkids to give all his love too. And even more, two grandkids that inherited his magic, for that he had already checked. Part Two follows

I have shelves full of Not Actually D&D clones, and it's amusing and frustrating that one of the oldest(?) D&D offshoots never seems to get a mention.
