As always good luck with school dude! :) Haha all I've got is Toki and Pickles playing old video games. Or the buff lady Klokateer squad having a relaxing day off? XD

and as always TYSM - Almost done with the school year!

I tried to do a little bit o’ BOTH

i was thinking of pickles and toki doing matches of arcade Mortal Kombat brutally crossed

...which then i got herb’d and thought of sketchin a cursed rough MK DK vs title card

they played for a total of thirty minutes and then went into the kitchen for the remainder of the night dissecting lunchables

for the klokateers since Summer is rolling along, I thought about the beach and bbqs and bonfires and blended it into a lil doomstar-illuminated hangout - I like thinking that Nathan would let the gears take whatever meat they want that he brings to the haus after his hunting trips, so they are cookin’ from his selection (ft a halibut they caught), to soon enjoy their grub as the sun sets

Any combination of Magnus, Toki, and/or Pickles with 13, 19, and/or 20? Yeah I’m living up to stereotype here. XD They’re all I can think of that isn’t original fic atm. :D

playing with each other’s fingers

Pickles loves painting Magnus’ nails. Despite the older man’s jests, the act had less to do with him occasionally applying coats on Nathan’s nails–back when the band was still together– and more to do with his old stint with Snakes N’ Barrels. Toki doesn’t get it, but neither man expects him to. Whether it be ten minutes, days, or years, some habits are harder to remove than others. It’s a lesson built from experience, in which Pickles and Magnus are overflowing. So when basic cable fails to provide suitable entertainment, Pickles takes Magnus’ hand in his, graces the underbelly with a playful tickle from his fingers before locking his hand in Magnus and declaring it time for a new coat. Then, a generous amount of pulling and splaying fingers apart. They keep forgetting to buy a new bottle of nail remover, so as Toki mindlessly flips through the channels, Pickles and Magnus scratch at his nails. Magnus jokes about the mess they’re making while Pickles tugs a little too hard and pops a finger joint.

“Hey,” Magnus says with a grunt, then tries retracting his arm from Pickles’ spry hold. He doesn’t get it very far; within moments of his discontent registering, Pickles clasps Magnus’ hands, reeling him back in.

“Sawrry, dood,” he teases, then places a quick peck on Magnus’ middle finger before twirling his fingers free. “Din’ mean to cause any trouble. Yet.” He watches Magnus’ barely offended expression soften to a smirk, and in the corner of his eyes, Pickles catches Toki bring his own finger up to his mouth before motioning an exaggerated gag.

one time, when my dad was working at a law firm for the first time, he was talking with another attorney who was an older conservative man.  during the conversation, the higher-up said “all that's solid melts into air” and my dad was like “whoa, did you just quote the communist manifesto?”  the higher-up tried to argue with him, insisting that my dad was wrong about the quote’s origins.  then my dad was like “okay, i’ll look it up so this can be a valuable learning experience for all of us”. 

but this was in the 90s, so my dad couldn’t pull out his phone and look it up, but he didn’t have to because he just reached into his briefcase and pulled out his glossy, leather-bound copy of the communist manifesto.  while my dad was excited to go on this little impromptu research adventure, this other attorney was horrified, thinking that my father was some kind of “evil communist spy”.  he’s not.  he’s just a nerd who loves books and the bookstore he went to before work that day was selling this super nice and fancy copy of the communist manifesto and he couldn’t not buy it (the irony is not lost on either of us).  also at that time he’d describe himself as more of a socialist, but idk where he would stand now.  anyway that’s it.

12. Is there a wedding? What was the proposal like? Any kind of honeymoon?

OHHHH MY GOD okay i’ve thought about pickles and charles’ wedding a LOT but thinking about toki and magnus’ wedding is like... it makes me too emotional. ;~; i think the proposal might’ve been magnus’ idea, which freaks him the fuck out that HE of all people would be wanting to propose to anyone or have a wedding or any of that shit. but he wants to be with toki forever, and he knows toki will love it, so he has a very awkward/nervous talk about it with pickles and makes some plans and gets a ring (nothing crazy, just something small he can afford with his own money). they probably go the aquarium for an anniversary or toki’s birthday or something, and magnus proposes in the moon jelly room. doesn’t get down on one knee though (he’d need help getting back up kjfghkdjf)

the wedding is probably something really cute but very lowkey. toki’s mom and magnus’ sister are there. pickles and charles. skwisgaar, murderface, dick. probably twinkletits. not sure if nathan and abigail would come (plus i think at this point they’d be too busy taking care of their new baby, so maybe they use that as an excuse). i think by this point they’re living in hawaii, so they can probably find someplace really beautiful for the ceremony. i need to give it more thought. ;~;

as for the honeymoon... it’s disney. you KNOW it’s gotta be disney. and toki uses his star power to get them all the best treatments, cut all the lines, the works.

44. Are the comfortable with each other? Anything they have to have their privacy for? 

they are sooooo comfortable with each other, yes. after all the shit the two of them have gone through together? even aside from doomstar... magnus has been thrown up on, hugged toki through hysterical snot-crying, and dealt with him peeing in bed while drunk. meanwhile toki has guided magnus through SO many panic attacks, helped him go to the bathroom, and even used to shave him and brush his hair and rub the sleep out of his eyes when Magnus was in the hospital :’) so yeah they end up knowing each other inside and out. not a ton of mystery left. magnus, however, still keeps a very things to himself (mostly fleeting, intrusive thoughts he knows would only upset toki). and toki for a long time is still pretty skittish/uncomfy with testing his blood sugar or taking insulin in front of magnus. (magnus tried to do it right when he had toki captive but he wasn’t careful enough and made him pretty sick. it was a good thing dethklok came along to get him when they finally did)

There was the fun in keeping things a surprise for her, after all, she deserved a nice night out, but he was also not sure if she even needed more surprises in her life. There was always the fear that he was pushing her too far even if she said otherwise; she was strong and he knew that. It didn’t help his anxieties though, no matter how hard he tried to get himself to believe that he wouldn’t end up harming her. Just like the past few months, he swallowed those feelings down as he only briefly looked at her with that usual grin before his eyes darted back to the road, “I don’t wanna say just yet but I can give a hint; that place we used to visit often is still around.”

“Wait, what??” Glimmer yelps, jolting upright. “Who? Why? I’ll get them first-- give me the name!”

“It’s, uh, just a rumor for now,” the Fright Zone Queen explains as she sits up as well, fumbling over her words. Despite being a public figure, communication has never been her strong point. 

But Glimmer immediately thinks that she’s being weirdly calm about all of this… Shouldn’t she be freaking out right now? Or executing someone? Knowing Catra, it’s not like her to pass up an opportunity to ruin someone’s life. Something else must be going on...

And then, Catra asks, hesitantly, “... Will you stay with me tonight? I just feel… safer, when you’re around.”

Oh. Ohhh.

Glimmer gets it, now.

It's one of the weird benefits of being the evil Queen's consort. You see the soft parts of her.

“Hmm... Bold of you to trust me enough to sleep beside you without slitting your throat,” Glimmer teases, in good ole dark Horde humor.

Catra cracks a smile. “I sleep with one eye open.”

Glimmer scoots closer to the Horde queen, who reflexively closes her eyes and parts her lips.

Instead, Glimmer places a gentle kiss on top of her eyelid. 

Next, she kisses under Catra’s jaw, right over the vein. She holds it there. Feels the beat of the pulse against her lips.

She takes Catra’s hand, flips it over. Kisses the delicate, fragile skin of her wrists.

Catra hisses softly. As if to ask, “are you threatening me?”

Their hands intertwine, tightly. Glimmer rests her forehead against Catra’s. Yes, she might be.

“You’re a terrible liar,” Glimmer murmurs.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

I actually cry when I get messages like this. (Ask @dadhoc, he had to deal with me getting all choked up when I just read it out to him.) It really means so much to me. 

Like, I used to work for Wells Fargo. I hated my job, and the way they wanted me to lie and be terrible to people, and take advantage of people, so much that I threw up every morning before work. @dadhoc and I got either demoted or sent to shitty locations after we reported ethics violations, and I ended up leaving.

Now I get to get messages like this, and while we are broke as fuck all the time, it’s so, so worth it. Thank you so much for sending me this message, and I look forward to your order! <3

15. What it takes to make them cry:

okay here’s a few more things hehe... if someone treats him gently/soothingly when he’s incredibly ill or in pain, he can’t take the tenderness ;~; any sudden reminder of his mother will zap his heart a bit, and if he doesn’t distract himself like ASAP he can start crying if he’s alone or with toki. also any time he thinks too long about toki’s childhood that usually does him in as well. OH, and how could i possibly forget the all-consuming guilt he feels constantly about hurting toki the way he did? any time that bubbles to the surface he’s lost to the world for a while.

18. Things they’ll never admit:

has a lot of very dark thoughts that he’ll never put words to because he knows how awful they are (mostly violent, intrusive thoughts directed at himself, but also directed at others at times). uhh, will probably never admit (especially to toki) all the times post-doomstar he came close to killing himself again. and will probably never admit that feeling hasn’t fully gone away (he gets to a point where he doesn’t want to act on it, but it’s still a thought he entertains in sort of a “well at least i’ve got an Out if this all goes to shit” marc maron type of way)

For all i’ve been talking about Picklegail recently I haven’t done an ask like this for them so hell yea :D

What made you ship it?

Honestly-it was two things;

 What really got the gear in motion, was spite-

I had noticed that during ship asks like this one, people would jot down Pickles/Abigail as a NOTP which is totally fine to do so but seeing that for the first time made me wonder why that was the case? (I didn't feel like even the show’s canon gave a good reason tbh but honestly, that’s probably the case fdsjdkf-) I searched the highs and los of AO3, FFN, and even Livejournal hoping to find some Pickles/Abigail fics but according to my searching and friends who have been around awhile, no one wrote fics on them? It honestly felt like there could be potential if people gave a chance!!

My conclusion, in the end, was to simply ship them instead of labeling it as a NOTP and not thinking much of it-and boy I fell down the rabbit hole fast-

And second, I had honestly always been intrigued by the ship but never took it farther than a passing thought until recently. I am taking my sweet time rewatching the series but rewatching hatredy made me wonder if things would’ve been different if Pickles had worn the blue suit in Going Downklok to make her laugh? I do think it would’ve been a nice callback to that episode since that episode was basically just Pickles having anxiety and low self-esteem over not being funny and having one person who could laugh at his attempt at a joke? that’s cute-

And yeah with those things I began developing them and pretty pleased with where I am now-

What are your favorite things about the ship?

trans male/strong female, tol female/smol male, bi female/bi male representation is needed-

Abigail and Pickles are both stubborn people who do in the end just want to get shit done quickly enough to move on. They both have extensive knowledge of the industry and I think he would be the easiest person to have recording sessions for (and obviously because less time in the studio means more time with her doing ‘fun’ things like...playing Animal Crossing) Pickles being an emotional person to begin with being with someone who does seem to be serious or not be as expressive through emotions is such a good match to me. I feel like Pickles could bring Abigail out of her comfort zone enough to learn that she doesn’t need to be entirely serious around the boys and that sometimes a little emotion is what helps get through to them the most.  

Abigail I feel can unintentionally get Pickles to become a bit more responsible and focused on what he needs to do. They are both grown adults and they definitely know themselves quite a lot better so it’s best to let the other do what they’ve done before unless they ask for help or they notice that maybe there’s an easier way to do things. She’s very punctual about things which in turn would get Pickles to start doing the same-it became an easy habit to pick up on but it’s just the little things that help them improve each other!

There is also something about the music producer and former 80s hair metal singer that makes me feel some type of way-the potential history of them together, the fact that it seems implied Abigail had been in the industry for quite a long time too! I feel like they could begin a genuine friendship based off trading stories about the industry, subtly telling good stories they heard about the other in between but they never downright say it until one of them slips the name and guess that’s been their version of flirting all along

And also, I recently realized that there are some really tragic undertones of pairing them together since Pickles never even seemed to pursue any relationships of any kind even though it’s implied he would’ve wanted to? And Abigail is an amazing singer with clearly years of vocal training under her belt, she managed to get into the music industry but yet as a music producer. And Pickles is just as amazing as well, but yet it’s clear that the fame hadn’t really worked to his favor. Am I spoiling a wip that will be finished in 5000 years? Yes, yes I am

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Since I am the captain of this ship, all my opinions are popular. But I guess in general (if you want to) give ships you never thought much about a chance! Spin a wheel with different characters and see if the first two results will be a good ship. You might be surprised by the results!

personally i gravitate towards the "skel accepts her but they dont get along like they used to". idk how long it wouldve been since they last saw each other, but they'd definitely be different people by the time they reconnect. but, even if they arent lovers anymore, perhaps the chance for a strong friendship would still be open? after all, jasenia knows more about skel than really any of the good guys. the foundation is there i think ^_^

Here’s what I’m thinking for Skel and Jasenia reuniting and his choice. At first Skel rejects her, acting cruel and petty but more aggressive then his usual jackassery. He tells the crew to take her right back to her husband, that he doesn’t care about her, she burned that bridge, etc… . Doing all this to hurt Jasenia and release all his pent up resentment and pain. During the journey back to the palace he and Jasenia fight a lot, the two bickering and arguing over just about everything.

Realizing just how much they have both changed, yet nuggets of their old selves still remain. The arguing dies down as his jackass mask begins to crack and they start actually talking, finding out what happened to her for all those years. He finds out about all the horrible things her husband has done to her over the years and Skel is LIVID! His inner good guy and old self telling him that she can’t go back, that while he’s still hurt he couldn’t live with himself sending her back to that creep.

This all being sparked by Jasenia doing something profound. Skel comes to the revelation that while he’s still hurt, that while he resents her betrayal he’s still in love with her after all these years. And that she feels the exact same way. I can imagine Skel doing one of two things. A) Convinces the crew to tell Jasenia‘a husband she’s dead so she can run away to Drifters Hollow with them. Or B) Skel decides to get revenge against her abusive husband. They return to the palace but just as

Their about to hand Jasenia off Skel intervenes and embarrasses the hell out of the guy infront of his whole court! Using his telekinesis on him and pointing out how awful a husband he is. The crews mortified but Jasenia joins him, revealing the truth of her kidnapping and makes a big show of leaving him. After narrowly avoiding execution their back together! Skel agreeing to take her back but only under the condition that she never betrays him like that again, to which she agrees.

Skel and Jasenia’s relationship isn’t the same as it used to be and their starting back at square one. However he realizes that maybe that’s a good thing, cause then they can build something new together! Better and stronger then it ever was before.
