Mercy carefully checked her nails, only looking up when the Hogwarts Express gave a pointed whistle, the sound familiar and strangely comforting. She enjoyed school. Her parents always felt the need to shower her with gifts while she was away and that served to make her time spent in the castle more than enjoyable. Not to mention the status her family along with so many others seemed to hold among the witches and wizards who had been raised in the magical world. Her daddy always told her blood was important, that she was special. And not once had she ever doubted him. But he had been proven right the moment she stepped foot in the Great Hall. People knew the Flints in the same way they knew the Blacks and the Carrows. Purity demanded respect. She turned to absentmindedly scan the crowd, judging the clothes worn by the family a few feet to her right. It was only as she rolled her eyes that she noticed Bellatrix, her beauty easy to spot among so many plain people. She smiled sweetly, excited to see her old friend despite seeing her many times over the holidays. “Bella!” She bounded over to where she was standing, pulling her into a hug regardless of whether she would appreciate the contact. “Daddy is just putting away my trunk, have you seen him yet? I know he’ll want to speak with you before he leaves, you know how much he adores your family.” @toujoursbella

Marlene cursed herself for weighing her trunk with art supplies as she struggled to drag it down the corridor, looking for anywhere that she could spend the rest of the train ride. She couldn’t find her friends, or even an empty compartment to ride out the journey. If worst came to worst she could probably go find her brother and his friends but that would be awfully pathetic wouldn’t it?
For a moment she paused, catching her breath when she heard someone coming up behind her, “I know, I know I’m blocking the corridor. I’m sorry. Just give me a sec, okay?”

The platform surrounding the Hogwarts Express was buzzing with excitement. Andromeda had already said goodbye to her parents, and now she was watching the other students shuffle about while waiting to board the train. She recognized Helena Rosier as she passed, seemingly not noticing Andromeda. “Helena!” She called after the younger girl, speeding up to catch up with her. “You just going to pass me by like that and not say hello?”

Mercy felt pretty. Well, prettier than usual. She often made a point of focusing on her appearance, knowing it was an important part of being a young Pureblood woman. And it was for this reason she had pouted and pleaded until her daddy bought her a new dress specifically for the train. Delicate lace lined sleeves, and a beautifully full skirt that fell just above her knees, were allowing her to flounce and spin to her hearts content, drawing attention to the expensive necklace around her neck and the charms on her silver bracelet. She was currently skipping down the hall of a carriage, looking for the best window to wave to her parents from. She could see them standing on the platform, deep in conversation with another Pureblood family. She knew they would look up when the whistle blew, but she had time now to look for the ultimate position. When she finally reached the end of the carriage she was frustrated to find somebody already at the window. She came to a halt, brushing down the front of her skirts before looking pointedly at the stranger. “Would you mind? Daddy gets upset if I don’t wave him goodbye and this is the perfect window to see him from. It’ll only be for a moment.”

It didn’t take long for Mercy to find Alecto on the Platform, people were already beginning to filter back into Muggle London and Pureblood families had a way of bonding together during times like these. In large crowds, it was almost a networking opportunity. She felt sure that was exactly how her daddy was spending the time. Glancing back to the barriers she had left her parents standing beside, she could see them deep in conversation with a Pureblood couple she recognised and laughed quietly to herself. No doubt a sale was being pitched and no doubt she would be receiving something beautiful, shiny, and expensive in the post as a result. Waving briefly at her mother, she turned back to Aly, a smile already lighting up her face. As far as she was concerned, there was nobody like Alecto Carrow. She was cool and calculating, so incredibly smart. When it came to getting what she wanted from her parents and brother, Alecto had taught her exactly when to bat her eyelashes, exactly how to word her sentences for maximum impact. The moment she was near the girl she pulled her into a hug, only stepping back when she felt the curls in her hair become crushed against her friend’s shoulder. She ruffled them gently, ensuring they were still perfectly in place. “I’m so happy you’re here! I found a new dress last night and I can’t wait for you to see it! You’re going to love it, Aly! It’s beautiful!” @implacablecarrow

rabsies:
Regulus felt his eyes twitching to roll over in their socket at the mention of him being any sort of hero, yet he stopped himself from doing so, lips simply pressing together into a thin line and shoulders coming up into a shrug. Mercy looked lovely. As always. He should’ve told her. He would have to tell her later. He wouldn’t want to disappoint, as she clearly meant to dress up today. Mercy was quite over-the-top, more often than not, but it wasn’t anything bad. Regulus listened to her, and she listened to him, however trivial their topic would be. There was a big possibility that the two of them would be arranged together by their parents, since now that Sirius was gone, it would be Regulus’ job to keep the blood line strong. Yet another responsibility that would make his stomach twist and turn from even thinking about it. He was snapped out of his thoughts, however, when he was tugged over to the window. “Ah– would he? Really?” He glanced out on the platform, the slightest spark of hope in his eyes to see his own parents looking for him quickly dying out. Of course. They were there. Too busy to maintain relationships with other parents to say goodbye to him. He pointed out, however, the Flints, and with half an arm out of the window, he sent a weak wave towards them. “Have you got anywhere to sit yet?” He spoke, still looking at the platform.
Mercy rolled her eyes, laughing at Regulus’ skepticism. “Of course he would, silly. You’re Regulus Black.” She wrapped her arms around one of his, pulling him close as she leaned out of the open window. Her father, catching sight of them, offered her a smile and a curt nod of the head, her mother blew her a kiss. She grinned at them both, making sure they could see who she was with. “I have actually,” she said, turning back to face him. “Daddy helped me with my trunk when we first arrived.” With one last look at her parents, she pulled him away from the window and down the carriage towards a compartment at the very end. It was empty, save for a rather expensive black truck, already stored neatly above the seats. Her full name was delicately written across the side of it, the gold paint catching the light in a way that pleased her greatly. “You realise you have to sit with me.” She said, leaving no room for him to argue. “And tell me about your summer. I’ve missed you, Reggie. My house can be so dull.”
