In Neil's defence he was expecting a package from the weird bookshop down the street. The book in question was a first edition guide to exy and this one had been signed by none other than Tetsugi Moriyama and Kaleigh Day. Neil had wanted this book since he was younger when his mother had introduced him to the sport. He supposed it was his last way to keep her near even after her death and totally not that Neil wanted this book like nothing else.

He had stocked every bookstore in town for this particular book. The tiny book store that was named everything your heart desires  wasn't in fact an exy book store like he thought the name implied.  But rather a porn and erotica book store that he wanted nothing to do with. The library had only a sliver of exy books and plus the exy books they did have, he owned and he couldn't even keep the books forever. He tried that when he was younger and paid 40 bucks to replace it. He wasn't keen on repeating it.

But in this book store, Neil knew he was close to hitting the jackpot. It sold collectables and first editions of a bunch of books. He had requested the owner to find it and upon months of finding it the owner said he had managed to get the book. Neil was elated and paid up front and expected the package in the mail.

So he expected a package. But, this wasn't his package. And this wasn't, his voice  in his head. And damn it this wasn't his exy book. This was some demonic cult book that came with a demonic voice in his head.

“You're correct this isn't a exy book. Whatever exy is.” A voice said in his head.

Neil wanted his exy book. Not some stupid voice in his head.

i like to imagine that jason was just like- the normal one before his death, to the point that it kinda scared bruce and Alfred, like wdym your not bouncing off the walls (literally) 24/7? wdym you did your homework already? Wdym you don't need to be reminded to watch your language when we go to events? And were Dick would have been attempting to see what was sturdy enough for him to swing around on Jason was just... up in his room, reading sense and sensibility. And don't get me wrong he still a little rough around the edges sometimes like Bruce has to remind him to pull his punches a little more than he had to with Dick but overall he was a good kid who got good grades and did overall good work in the field while not as brilliant a detective as his successor nor as nimble as his predecessor Jason was a good Robin in his own right. And tho no one ever says it bruce was probably his happiest when jason was his robin.

On Tuesday it will be a month since I've updated Breathe.

I know that isn't really that long in the grand scheme of things (considering I hadn't picked it up in nearly a year 🙈) but I've been feeling like an absolute pile for not having it even remotely close to ready and have no idea when it will be.

I wanted to give an update in case anyone was wondering (not that I think anyone is 😅) and hope that whenever I do finish it, people won't have forgotten about it and will still show interest in it.

I've been having so many back and forth emotions about it all, from being excited for what I have planned, to totally dreading it and not wanting it to end, to worrying what people will think (and comment 🙄) about it that I've lost so much motivation to work on this finale. With trying to finish the renovation on my house and going back to work I'm busier than normal as well which leaves me even less time to dedicate to writing, and unfortunately when I have had some time, I've been completely uninspired.

So anyway, that's that for now and I hope I can get back to it soon and provide a reason for people to follow me/stick around since I haven't been posting anything recently.

(I'll also note that I won't be working on anything else until Breathe is finished because I fear I won't go back to it if I move onto something different 😅)

In the meantime, please be kind to yourselves and others, and I urge you to read and share "older" works of writers and artists and leave nice, encouraging comments because even the simplest note can go a long way 💗

oh my god I know like it sounds weird to say this when it's just avatar but the original show has aang go back to the southern air temple to show katara and sokka his home only to find evidence of the genocide of his people and the loss of his loved ones and it's quiet until you see his grief and his rage but you just see the aftermath a hundred years later and the netflix adaptation makes it feel like they wanted it to be a cool action movie with an epic scene showing the fighting and running of the airbenders like that side by side with aang running away and it's like ??? okay it's "darker" congratulations I can see that's what the goal is based on the differences in firebending and early on screen deaths go and focus on every bit of violence for the audience's lazy sadistic pleasure instead of any of the characters personal narratives especially the women that can all be taken right out + the discovery of different places all over the world in the earth kingdom and outside of it. put everything in omashu so they don't get to meet people and see the diversity of the world and each town and SEE what life is like for them under war and have these experiences with all these people build up to something bigger at the end
