This video got me thinking; it explores the idea of Pink Diamond possibly having owned two Pearls instead of just the one we know and love. This video covers why that theory could be plausible with sources, so you may want to watch it before diving into my theory.

Starting off, the artbook references "a new, sensible _______ is custom _______ and delivered to Pink". I can't help but think our Pearl was that; a new, sensible, custom made gem for PD. She is already very unlike the other pearls, which is odd now that we know she definitely was Pink Diamond's Pearl. So this begs the question; was she the original Pearl?

Pearl should technically be all pink according to what we know, but that's not the case. Pearl's old Homeworld Outfit/Form is pink, blue, and yellow. So if the diamonds had her custom-made, it would make sense because their colors allign with her outfit.

The way gems "age" is also a little strange, but pearl also isn't consistent in that aspect compared to the other Pearls, either. This could also be chalked up to off-modeling that SU loves to do, but Pearl's height and implied age has seemed to change throughout history and flashbacks. If she was made brand new, appearing younger in her own age cycle would make sense.

Pearl's gem placement is also on her head, as opposed to it being on her stomach like Pink Diamond's. All of the other Pearls so far have gem placements that correspond to their diamond, and the video also mentions that a gem's placement also hint at the gem's personality. Head placement implying logic and reason.

We also now know that Pearl has a very almost customized manner of storing items into her gem, to the point where there are multiple Pearls inside her. I am still unsure if this detail is literal or meant to be metaphorical, however.

Why this all matters, is because we already know of a fourth pearl. And we've already met them- as a fusion, that is. Her name is Rhodonite, a fusion between a Ruby and a Pearl. It's implied that they were looked after by Morganite, which is a gem of pink hue, meaning they could've all easily belonged to Pink Diamond's court.

So to me, it makes sense if Rhodonite has Pink Diamonds old Pearl. PD's old Pearl was considered not "sensible" by Homeworld because they fused with a Ruby, so they ran away together, and our Pearl was created for PD.

Feel free to poke holes in this theory, I have no idea if I'm in the right direction but I sure hope I am.

Okay, gonna toss my Orange Side theory out there into the Theoryverse:

Like many, I think the Orange Side will have something to do with anger...but particularly righteous anger. The kind of "this is not fair", justified anger that compels people to right wrongs, and help people, and make the world better.

C!Thomas having to choose between a dream role and supporting his friends was Not Fair. Him feeling like he has to put everyone else before himself, all the time, in order to be Good is Not Fair, because he is also a person who deserves to have his needs and wants considered.

Logan being ignored all the time is Not Fair.

But often this kind of anger is lumped in with more negative anger, frustration, envy, etc, and suppressed as such. Especially in certain religious traditions and cultural traditions, where anger is seen as sinful. Even in online debates, getting angry is often viewed as a sign that your arguments are weak, or that you cannot be "objective".

Righteous anger, to me, is different. It's your inner sense of justice and morality looking at a situation and saying "this must not continue". Justice, to me, is inescapably connected to Logic, in an ideal, Newton-ish, "for every action, an equal and opposite reaction" kind of way. You should get what you deserve: no more, no less. (I also adhere to the belief that all humans are inherently valuable, and therefore inherantly deserving of love, respect, having their basic needs met, etc). This kind of anger, to me, is less of an emotion, but rather an inner line in the sand drawn from one's morals, experiences, and sense of what is right.

In that sense, it doesn't surprise me that Logan is the Side being most affected by Orange right now. The others are too emotionally driven. I would imagine that part of Orange and Logan's character arcs would be learning to understand what righteous anger is trying to tell you about yourself and/or a situation, instead is dismissing it as Bad, or just another illogical feeling to clutter up one's logic.

I haven't decided yet whether I think Logan literally IS Orange (of so, I'm imagining a Jekyll and Hyde kind of situation), or whether Orange is manifesting through him, or just influencing him. Is Orange intimately connected to Logan, like Remus is to Roman (did Logan know so much about the twins in DWIT from general nerdiness...or personal experience?), or is Orange a different Side altogether?

New Literary History after the end of the new

Now, two new things become possible

for the erstwhile critic on his way

to reincarnation

as a real artist

(a new Pinocchio syndrome perhaps).

The first is the invention of new texts:

you enlarge a piece of

Scythian jewelry

to the point

at which

it becomes the equal of

a monumental frieze

in another civilization.

The critic, then, by the invention

of new nomenclature and neologism,

and by the framing in a new paradigm

of aesthetic or cultural history, transforms

an inert text of some sort

into a bearer of new form

and new perception

and thereby transforms it into an object

of especial and hitherto untheorized significance.

That text then becomes a first of some kind,

and itself a paradigm and model of things to come,

as well as a privileged symptom of Zeitgeist.

Meanwhile that creation—in which the new significance of the curatorial role

can be identified, precisely as just such

a framing of objects that are to be

allegorically transvalued—is intimately related

to the other one that interests us here,

namely the invention of wholly new historical stories

about such objects—the creation of new ideas or concepts of literary or artistic history.

This is then why, in my opinion,

we cannot exactly write new literary histories today,

we cannot execute them in the way the older

framers of projects (artistic or not)

then patiently brought these first glimmering ideas to full realization

step-by-step and in concrete detail.

For such new ideas are not to be realized,

they are and remain purely theoretical,

the task

is to spring them onto the screen of consciousness

precisely as new ideas for this

or that new narrative paradigm of history.

What the writers of new literary history

have to do today is to invent new ideas

of literary history, to pursue the goal

of a Novum that is immediately recognizable as

something hitherto unthought about the process,

and whose examples are not pieces and segments

of the execution of that research so much as themselves

ideas that dramatize what such an execution would look like.

In other words, they try to show us what a carrying out

of this new idea of literary or artistic history would look like

if it really could be carried out (which it can’t be).

Now I have little enough time

to say why this is not relativism or fiction.

It must be marked by an imperative to multiplicity—

to invent one new idea for literary history

must be understood as calling for many more.

These then begin to stake out the bounds of the Real,

they approach it asymptotically

in their very variety and in their contradictions,

like the legendary blind men feeling

the equally imaginary elephant’s sensory properties

—tail, trunk, hide, tusks, and so forth—and reporting

back on their contradictory findings.

This is then the triangulation of the Real,

the identification of a heavy

yet invisible body at the heart of space

that moves all the counters and the pointers

on all the dials of the universe

in a barely perceptible yet inescapable way,

a uttering and a fluttering

through which the Real

becomes as

inescapable

as it is

unrepresentable.
