Sirius is stuck

“Sirius what happened?” Remus panicked as soon as Sirius opened the door. He knew it wasn’t just a “let’s hangout” invitation , it was a very urgent 3 am text after all, he expected something, but he didn’t expect Sirius standing at the door with smudged mascara and red, teary eyes.

“You’ve been crying. Are you hurt?” Remus asked again as he walked through the door.

“Not hurt. Can’s oben the ipper.” Sirius’s words slurred behind a spoon in his mouth. He was pointing at his back with a hand that wasn’t holding an ice cream. Based on the almost gone pint it had been an intense night.

Remus helped with the spoon as he gave Sirius a curious look.

“I am stuck Moony. I came back from the bar and all I wanted was to get in bed and I just.. the zipper Moony.. it’s stuck!” Sirius’s eyes welled up with tears again.

Remus looked at him. Sirius looked so funny. Fluffy deer slippers James got him one Christmas, pj pants and a fancy top. His face was half smeared with ice cream and half smeared with run down make up. He looked adorable, pretty. Remus couldn’t help but chuckle and when Sirius’s face screamed betrayal his chuckle blew into a loud laugh.

“Don’t laugh at me you asshole, help!” Sirius had a full blown scowl now.

“Okay, okay, turn around.”

“It’s bad enough coming back home drunk to an empty house and then I can’t even get undressed alone” Sirius mumbled as Remus wiggled the zipper around.

“Aha! All done. You are finally free!” Remus chuckled triumphantly.

“Oh thank god, thank you Remus you are a lifesaver.”

“You are veeery welcome your highness” Remus bowed dramatically.

“Stop it!”

“Come on, let’s get you to bed” Remus started to lead Sirius to his bedroom. “I’ll get you a glass of water for the morning, god knows you’ll need one”

“Get a bottle from the fridge”

“Here we are. Here’s your bottle and some painkillers if you need them in the morning.” Remus explained as he put stuff on Sirius’s nightstand.

“Are you going to leave? It’s too late, maybe you should stay Moony”

“Yeah okay, I can crash on the couch”

“Hmm, on the couch. yes”

“You okay? Need anything else or is it finally time for your beauty sleep”

“Don’t need anything. Thank you. Thank you for coming tonight. I really needed it.. the help I mean”

“Yeah Sirius of course, always”

“Love you Remus”

Last words were muttered with Sirius’s last conscious thought before his breathing evened out and he fell asleep.

It hit Remus like a canon, wrecking his insides. But his mind knew it meant nothing, it was a drunk moment, a friend saying it to another friend, token of appreciation after the help. Remus got ready to crash on Sirius’s couch holding the same breath he held right after he heard Sirius’s last whisper.

Falling asleep was hard that night and the uncomfortable couch wasn’t the reason.

It took Remus an annoyingly long time to fall asleep and now someone was waking him up.

“What? What is happening?” He grumbled with irritation.

“Hey, Remus, I am so sorry to wake you up I just..” Sirius started.

“Sirius what happened are you alright?”

“Hey, hey, everything is alright. I am okay.” Sirius reassured as he sensed Remus was starting to panic. “Sorry, I just woke up and I couldn’t go back to sleep”

“And you decided to wake me up too?!” Remus’s panic was replaced with irritation again.

“Sorry, I just…” Sirius bit his lip, he looked nervous but then again Remus was still half asleep and the living room was dark so he could really tell. “You heard what I said before I fell asleep, right?” Sirius asked quietly.

“Yeah Sirius I did, it’s okay, I know how it was meant. We don’t need to talk about it, especially at dawn”

“But you don’t though. I think my mind realized what I said in sleep and I woke up and I couldn’t fall back asleep because I needed you to know..” Sirius put his hand on Remus’s cheek, “Remus it wasn’t a drunk thought or an accidental sleepy blubber, it wasn’t a friend telling a friend thing either. I meant it. I meant what I said” Sirius looked Remus in his eyes, blinked, stood up and left. Remus could finally fall back asleep, now that nobody was trying to speak to him. He breathed in and out and

An alarm went off in his head. He jumped up from the couch and blinked as he realized what he just heard. Part of him thought it was a dream or a hallucination maybe but that wasn’t stopping him from running into Sirius’s bedroom.

“Sirius! Was it a dream?” He was awfully loud before sun was even properly up.

“Not a dream, no” Sirius whispered while sitting up in bed. “Moony, I am sorr..” Sirius started to apologies but could not finish because Remus’s crashing lips had stolen words and a breath from his mouth.

“Me too, Sirius I love you, too” Remus breathed between the kisses. And if hearing Sirius say those words felt like thousand canons and alarms going off, Remus saying the words out loud felt like a volcano erupt, from deep within, from his core, words kept secret for too long found their way to the top and escaped, shaking the whole world.

The kiss at dawn lasted long after the sun was comfortably sat on the horizon. After that night Sirius never came back to an empty house and he certainly never ever undressed himself alone. Remus was always there, always there to help.

Thinking about the fact that Mabel and Dipper didn't know they had two great uncles.

Yeah they are 12 and at 12 I had a shotty understanding of my family tree- But really? Nobody brought up their great uncle? Stanley? Especially since they'll be staying with his twin brother, Stanford?

Shermie never went to Stan's fake funeral, which to me means the twos relationship was strained on some level. If Shermie is older that means his view of Stan was poisoned in some way, that even as kids they weren't close. If the Shermie is younger then he never even got to meet Stan and all he knew about him was how he failed his family. Hell, people probably barely mentioned Stanley TO Shermie.

The fact that Stan had become a black stain upon the Pines family name makes me so vividly upset. Stanley faked his death and the family just- seemingly decided to strike him from the record. To pretend he didn't existed to spare themselves the sadness and shame.

Stanford and Shermie Pines. The only children worth mentioning of Filbrick and Caryn Pines.

It was never Stanford that was lost to the world. It was Stanley, ever since he had to leave New Jersy- it was always him that had to be struck from the record. Change his name, change his state, change his affiliations, destroy the remains of ghost that was Stanley Pines. Kill him so the family doesn't bring him up, doesn't ask questions, stops asking "Stanford" about his twin.

I just keep thinking about the fact that since the day he made one single mistake all the way up until Ford walks out of that machine- Stanley Pines was killed and did not exist. And Stan himself had no one to blame, he had to play the part in his own demise- He is the only one who ever knew Stanley was alive and has been for decades.

He lives in the multitudes of every personality he's ever taken, all in the hope that he himself can stop being Stanley Pines.

luffy plans a hangout with all his friends and the moment sanji walks into the room, the telltale sound of two grindr notifications goes off

the room is silent. everyone is staring at sanji. sanji wants the ground to swallow him up whole. eventually conversation starts up again but sanji still wants to die

Stan being highly intelligent but considered stupid because he's only ever been compared to Ford, would also mean Ford himself has a very screwed up idea of how intelligent he actually is.

The poor guy is off to college and thinks he’s being bullied again because the other students pretend not to understand him. Stan’s a highschool dropout who can barely read [yay for undiagnosed dyslexia i guess] and he was able to follow Ford's science talk just fine. The only real difference between them was that Ford actually applied himself and studied. He earned his “genius” status because of all his hard work!

And Ford is proven right when he finally meets Fiddleford, who is too nice to bully him.

Those baby vamp scenarios are just so angsty with a hint of comedy.

Like, teen Venus vampire Stanley is living in his own world, separated from reality. Everything is like those teen drama shows with mystery, supernatural, and adventure (with the occasional traumatic event). MEANWHILE Ford is only experiencing The Horrors everyday. Even more so with this version of Stanley, having been dead at the same he was kicked out.

Stan's whole life is angsty with a hint of comedy really.

Teen vamp Stan is forever seventeenish and in total denial about it. They're stuck in Murder Woods for Reasons and Stan's doing funny little songs, getting wowed by crazy monsters and punching them in the face, finding cool bugs to show off and boasting about how he's not scared of a little forest! This is a cool haunted woods thing they got going on but he's not gonna get freaked by some guys in make up Ford! All the Horror that have happened to him over the years are buried under Teen ability to ultra suppress, like when shit gets real in high school but you still gotta go to class.

Meanwhile Fords hyperventilating about things jumping out and trying to eat Stan, his tiny itty bitty baby brother who keeps telling Ford to stop wearing heels (because obviously thats the only reason Fords taller! No other reason!) He just saw Stan go into a blood frenzy and the sight of his chubby cheeked twin who's been dead for ten years covered in blood and snarling seared itself into Fords brain and makes him choke up with the fact that Stan really isn't going to grow up.

Its like a mix up of Scooby Doo and Friday the Thirteenth here where Stan's laughing at the guy with a chainsaw and looking for clues and rolling his eyes while Fords desperately making sure Stan doesn't lose an arm and seeing all the dead bodies and carnage left in the killers wake. Ford wants so badly to shake Stan and yell about how awful everything is and how he can laugh about being dead, but then he see's his little twin brother trying to lick his nose with his tongue and be silly and he loses all his steam. Doesn't have the heart to shatter Stan's coping method of Not Seeing it and acting like life's totally normal even after being on the road for ten years and not really maturing in any way from it.

Then Fords holding him and crying into his hair about the tragedy of outliving his twin brother while Stan's screetching and growling about Ford being gross.

i feel like. I can kind of understand where this person is coming from like yes he does have flaws and make mistakes and I acknowledge this but there's a difference between saying a character doesn't have flaws and defending them from fans who demonize/heavily mischaracterize them.

in fords case, there are so many people shitting on him for things that are false or misinterpretations of things he’s said and done. a good chunk of the fandom has an irrational hatred for him.

as well as this the fandom also waters down his trauma to make it seem like nothing compared to Stan's as well as making countless jokes about his trauma. for example, the thousands of jokes made about bills abuse of ford. I cannot count the times I've seen people look at this abuse and their only takeaway/only thing they have to say about this is 'haha he fucked the triangle.' as someone who's been in an abusive relationship in the past it is extremely tiring to see these jokes constantly thrown around about bill and fords relationship. either people are ignorant and cannot see that their relationship is textbook abuse or they do know but just don't care(what is wrong with you) and I genuinely don't know what's worse.

as well as this, there is a tremendous amount of victim blaming being made towards ford when discussing ford and bills relationship. I've seen so many people straight up say it's ford's own fault for getting abused by bill and it was because of his 'hubris' and 'huge ego' and his 'selfishness', which is no thing to ever say about a victim of abuse. ive also seen people call ford 'stupid' for getting manipulated by bill, which is a) wrong, because bill has successfully manipulated and abused many others before for(have you read tbob), and has manipulated other members of the pines family shown in the show, and b) just victim blaming. I don't even know what else to say about this but many of you cannot be normal about abuse victims in media.

regarding his growing distance with fiddleford during portal construction era, this is caused by bill isolating ford from him, one of the only humans he's in contact with which is a technique often used by abusers. many people claim this is because ford 'views fiddleford as lesser', or 'has little respect towards him', which is straight up wrong. ford states in the journal that he is a great friend and a brilliant scientist and engineer, and his appreciation of him is shown through his excitement of his arrival and immediately gets to making him feel welcome in his home and gifts him with microchips and banjo strings. in fact, when they first met in college, ford was the only one who genuinely believed his theory and he immediately jumped to helping him prove it for 9 hours, despite barely knowing the man. their bond, whether romantic or platonic is strong and that's why bill's isolating ford from fiddleford is so vital to bills abuse of ford.

not only that but these people are obsessing over Stan's homelessness for ten years but don't dare acknowledge that ford has been homeless for thirty. they fail to acknowledge that both Stan and ford were being abused by filbrick even if it showed in different ways. ford wasn't favored by his mother(his mother favored stan) and his father didn't see him as anything but a way to make money for his family, providing him only conditional love and not seeing him as his own person aside from his intelligence and his hands. this is often something many immigrant children experience, having endless pressure to succeed and get top notch grades and choose a high salary career in order to raise their family out of poverty. and if they were to slip up, they would often get severely punished or even physically hurt as a result. so logically, ford being upset by this is very understandable, not to mention he was also a teenager when this happened.

i have more examples I could use, but tldr, defending ford from fandom mischaracterization, victim blaming, and from claims being made about him that are blatantly false is not equal to saying he lacks flaws or hasn't made mistakes.

Shapeshifter rant [angst and yappery]

The big scary looking form he takes is basically a threat pose. Threat poses are what animals use to fight or scare off danger.

Cats puff out their tails and arch their backs:

Octopi make themselves look poisonous and can flash colors to scare predators:

It makes sense to me that a shapeshifter would have a bigger, distorted version of their base/“true” form as a threat pose. And that babies would instinctively be able to make that form even if they haven’t seen an adult before.

I think Shifty’s base form, the one he reverts into when he’s relaxing or sleeping, is like the form we see, but smaller and more friendly looking. And that it’s as tall as a grown human or just a little bit shorter.

The shapeshifter is afraid of humans; they lied to him, kept him as a test subject, froze him, and then disappeared. He didn’t know if they were going to come back to experiment on him more, or if they would want to “finish the job.”

He tried to dig his way out of the bunker but was stopped by the steel lining. This form is still fast and very durable, which he would want if the humans ever came back.

This form was made to try and break through the lining of the bunker, but that didn’t work. Instead, Shifty took to hitting the lining to make this form stronger and tougher skinned.

He can perfectly replicate Ford and Fiddleford’s voices, but doing so fills him with rage and makes him crash out. For a time, he would purposely get himself riled up to “train” for the scientists to return.

But as decades passed and nobody came to poke, prod, refreeze, or kill him, Shifty felt he’d been left to rot and gave up.

He still doesn’t trust humans, new or not, children or not. And Dipper quickly proved himself to be a fanboy of the scientist that kept the shapeshifter locked away from the sun and sky, froze him, and then never came back.

The second he realized they knew he was a shapeshifter, he went straight to treating them like a threat. For all he knows human children could be just as dangerous as the adults, and he doesn’t want to be destroyed or captured.

Shifty’s not an evil monster, he believes humans are out to get him and wants to do everything he can to stay safe from them.

The reason he lost his temper when he couldn’t find Dipper and the others is because he had no idea what they might be planning, and no idea what they might be capable of.

Being alone in a bunker for 30 years thinking this way would do a number on anybody. He’s not mentally stable or willing to believe that these new people have good intentions. In his mind revealing himself from the start would be opening himself up to get attacked. Better to pretend to be one of them and figure out what they want.

The reason Shifty wanted the journal all those years ago was to find out Stanford’s true intentions for him. Somehow he overheard Fiddleford muttering about freezing him, and he simply had to know if the scientists were really going to do that. Ford freezing him just confirmed all his worst fears.

So why does he still want the journal, anyway? He feels that Stanford saw him as a monster, and when pretending to be Ford, he talks about himself that way. If he “knows” how the scientists really view him, why would it matter if he has the book or not?

It should have the answers on how to get out of the bunker. He hasn’t been able to escape, he can’t access the room with 50 years worth of food, he knows the outside world exists and would surely like to go there.

It’ll give him some closure in the form of seeing how much Ford despised him and decided to leave him to starve to death in the bunker. Dipper says the author has been missing, but Shifty’s spent 30 years stewing over the scientists betraying him. He’s fully in denial about Stanford or Mcgucket potentially being dead, the idea was just presented that day. No, the book will prove he was right all along, the scientists hated him and locked him away.

There are other creatures in Gravity falls that he could mimic, letting him run free in nature without worrying about humans tracking him down. Heck, maybe the humans actually like these other beasts. Maybe the journal will even give him some sort of insight on why humans are so disgusted with him in particular.

Revenge. The humans refused to let him have the book when they pretended to be friendly. Clearly it holds some sort of value and significance to Stanford. Taking the book and keeping it for himself would surely infuriate Ford. And quite frankly, that’s enough in the way of revenge because humans are too dangerous to be attacked.

On a lighter note, I think that the way Shifty was talking was basically like.. when a kid makes their voice deeper and makes fun of how an adult speaks. He is an adult, but mockingly speaking like Ford in his own voice was a good way to trick Dipper without risking getting angry hearing Stanford’s voice.

This is probably the dumbest headcanon of mine; if you could just be a fly on the wall, on a day where there’s no humans in the bunker stressing Shifty out, I think he would sound pretty similar to Luke Skywalker.

Not the exact same, especially with his emotional state, but similar.

Out of every ship i have been invested in, which isn't a whole lot but still, I think that narumitsu is the most justified in being the most painfully slow burn to ever have burned. Like, it's obvious to literally everyone around them that there is something between them but it still takes twenty years to do anything about it. Not because they're stupid but they're both just specific types of fucked up that make getting into a relationship kind of impossible.

They're both seemingly very reluctant to get into any sort of romantic relationships in the first place, one due to general disinterest and a truly incredible amount of emotional constipation, and the other due to his last (and only known) relationship being so fucked up that he kind of gave up on the concept entirely. Them being excruciatingly in denial about being in love for decades is just so in character because they're just Like That.

Their history is also complicated enough to warrant waiting around for each other forever, there's so much baggage and trauma and hurt between them that it's just crazy. They've saved each other and they've hurt each other and they push each other away, they owe each other their lives and their jobs and their hopes. They would do anything for each other but are still pretty justified in being afraid to take the last step into making their relationship not just platonic.

idk it feels like a lot of other ships fall into the infuriatingly slow romance because the characters are too stupid to take a hint and it's just kind of painful after a while but these are the most hilariously repressed characters I have ever seen and while they might be stupid about their own feelings, it's usually stemming from trauma which is far more interesting for me personally lol.
