hough im not sure! i got into them through mechanisms crossover fics if im honest lol but i wouldn't recommend that without the spg context first lol. you might have osmosis'd the basic info about the characters from tumblr (me) but if you havent hmm. okay im sorry this post is a mess bear with me

i think start with some of the live recordings ill link a few under the cut :3 i recommend starting with post 2014 stuff just bc of rabbit's transition, but the pre 2014 stuff is also super good once you know the characters a little better!!

after 'getting to know' them a little w the live shows id probably recommend listening to the albums in order? (album one (2009 is the best version), the 2¢ show (probably their most famous album), MK III (my second favourite album! !), the vice quadrant (this one is a space opera split into two parts and i will be SO real i havent listened to it at all), the music of steamworld heist I (videogame soundtrack, it has some of their biggest songs from the first two albums rerecorded and some banger new ones), quintessential (my favourite album! the vibes r great), 1896 (this one is also REALLY good) and music from steamworld heist II (i have only listened to like three songs admittedly but i need to finish it its really good)! and their upcoming album i believe is named seventh. can you spot a theme? /silly

and!! the members thing. before you get into the band its probably important to note that they began with four members, Rabbit, The Spine, The Jon, and upgrade. you'll see them together in the busking videos. upgrade left because she didnt like singing all that much (though in canon she left to... have tea with the queen, attempt to kill kate middleton, and turn into a dragon? #justgirlthings) she's in album one (2009) (2011 is a re-recorded version without her and not as good imo), and then the jon left in 2013? or 14. in canon he left to become the mayor of biscuit town (a town in kazooland which. is a long story). he's in album one and the 2¢ show. hatchworth replaced jon and was in mk iii, vice quadrant, swh i, and quintessential. i think he left to go fishing in a boat he borrowed from the jon. the last bot and current third member is zer0! loml <3 hes in 1894 and swh ii :3

I fear next year is gonna be super boring, at least last year we had 4 competent riders on the ducati so there was a little more variety, maybe one week marc was gonna win, maybe jorge, maybe enea. But for next year we’re just gonna have marc and pecco and I have zero hopes for the aprilias or ktm to develop a championship winner bike so. And the racing quality (mostly because of those giant bikes and their obsession with aero) has also gone downhill. Yes maybe pecco and marc will fight a little bit during the year but I fear its gonna be a pretty boring season anyway.

y'know, this is only tangentially related, but I've realised the calendar isn't well designed for a marc/pecco title fight. obviously that's not the fault of the calendar but it's still kind of annoying. like,, we start with this:

that's terrible. these are all tracks that lean marc, rather heavily so in the case of cota. I'd assumed argentina wasn't happening but word on the street is it might actually return to us, which I'd be happy about but does mean it gives marc a bit of a chance to build up an early buffer. you kinda feel like two of these weekends could easily be 37's. for the health of the championship, his bike needs to fall apart somewhere here

I also really really don't like this:

that's four tracks in a row that heavily favour one or the other. they're basically specialist tracks. while marc might challenge for victory at mugello or assen, if he wins at any of those I think it's fairly safe to say we're unlikely to be witnessing a great championship fight. so we go into four weekends in a row where we broadly think we already know the winner - and in two of those, one rider very much needs to be the winner for things to be competitive. that's where momentum goes to die. you want your specialist tracks sprinkled in throughout the season as a bit of a reset point, for spice. you don't want them all crammed in one stretch of the season as if you're trying to get rid of them

think my general hope is we should try to keep it looking competitive in that post-summer break pre-flyaway stretch, and then give up for the flyaways. also, with all my love to and profound respect for the nation of hungary, but probably for the best if that track isn't ready quite yet

anyway. on the season. idk, I'm looking forward to it! I do want to see the title fight play out between these two because on paper it is just such a juicy prospect. even if I'm keeping my expectations low, both in terms of how competitive it'll be and how much narrative juice it'll have. I hope being told fifty million times how well bagnaia and marquez get on will age poorly, for instance. the nightmare version of this season is where they split like.... twenty of the twenty two (?) races between the pair of them, almost always finish 2-5 seconds ahead of each other, one of them's both faster and less likely to fall off and there's no real championship narrative from early on. tbh at that point it's just like... idk man, you don't have to be hype about every season, I'll probably still tune into the main races (I am NOT tuning into sprints without a competitive title fight) and go about my business. sometimes the sport goes through a bit of a dull period - hopefully michelin will have developed a new front tyre for next year and that + the regs change for 2027 + competitive reordering will eventually make the sport more fun again

but also. it could be more fun than that! ducati is inevitably going to be more vulnerable now - they have a depleted rider pool and fewer bikes. also like,,, they can't be that dominant FOREVER. say what you will about ducati, but dall'igna did say before last season that the gp24 was a substantial step forwards from the gp23. they did warn us! and they're not saying that about the gp25, which has to give you a little bit of hope. the pool of talent is also theoretically better spread now - aprilia has a proper star rider in the form of martin who has shown he can be both fast and consistent, ktm has acosta in his second season, yamaha might finally be able to take advantage of quartararo's talents again. there's serious question marks over all of those, most obviously around ktm's future of course. but like... they can't ALL suck forever. I think the field will be more competitive, I think more non-ducati riders will win races, I think we can hustle up a cute little aprilia silverstone win or a brno ktm win or even a yamaha indonesia win. it's tougher for two guys to completely lock out the top of the competition than it is for four - more stuff can go wrong for two guys. and hey, if all else fails, there were three races in 2024 where both marc and pecco crashed. idk I think with motorsports you kinda need to find stuff to care about that isn't just the fight for the win and/or the championship narrative... admittedly that would be easier to do if motogp did a better job at not just showing the first few bikes. but it's not THAT dire

Ok ok ok 💜💜💜 Here's the Tea, capital T because I'm going to spill scalding liquid all over these earls of grey.

Nagito Komaeda was a God Of Death (and also a robot) who was omnipotent and knew everything, including personal information of all characters ever, plus meta shit. It WAS Nagito Komaeda btw. Even had a Nagito Komaeda pfp with his face during mental breakdown trial monologue and EVERYTHING.

So the creator of Nagito, let's call them Radioactive, was someone who was really into doing this. Making actual characters from other series not into trollified OCs but just the actual characters in Homestuck for no reason. One of the moderators, let's call this one Spot, kept asking people to Stop Doing This because it was pissing off The Trifecta. The Trifecta was THE in crowd in the server. They all had big blogs (two had like 50 blogs between them both) were massively active early players, and had huge sway. They don't matter much outside of the fact that they were SUPER popular, and one owned the server. The other two had 50 blogs and were 90% of engagement on the server's connected blogs or something.

Because popular people were whining about it, Spot asked Radioactive to cut it out, citing that I was alienating to new players and pissing off the backbone players. Radioactive then got in a huge ass fight with 2/3 and the server owner took Radioactive's side. So the other two in The Trifecta left the server.

They weren't shit talking, but they told everyone who asked that they left the server because of "the metagaming, weird canon characters from other media shit, and the lack of rule following/order" which put a fire under Spot's ass to fix it before the server started catching flame. So they add a rule to stop using pre-existing characters in the Homestuck Fan Character roleplay server, which caused a HUGE fucking meltdown. People were used to Spot rolling over and the other mods being absent and the owner being kind of a people pleaser, but they couldn't people please their way out of this one, so the rule stayed and like 20 people split off the group.

So this split off group, NeoTrollian, if you will, fucks off as a grou. They then go on Beforus For Real Justice, the former blog of The Trifecta member number two and The Biggest Blog on Grumblr Space, Ever. And start internet slap fighting, in character. With the other moderators. It was the most grade four shit ever.

The Trifecta member two then gets into the ask box and says they're literally pissing on the corpse of a blog that The Trifecta member two built on a lot of time and effort and to please just leave it to die if they're going to act like that. Which makes everyone feel guilty. And they promptly fucked off the blog, leaving it in ruins to this day.

The group then made their own server and it's literally awful but shhhh. I can't say more without revealing my lurker status and where I get my info.

⅔ members of The Trifecta now just don't roleplay on Tumblr, probably because of how annoying, petty, childish, and stupid, that whole thing was. The other one is still running the Trollian server, and it's still up, to this day. Spot is still mod in Trollian, the best one there, the only active mod. Someone tried to accuse them of being anti-mental health over banning the alternate canon characters, by the way. Hats off to Spot for still being in that server after getting accused of internalized ablism.

For some reason, January and co. does not care that Planet Madson had been attacked by Giygas and his evil army, but anyway, the next day later, January and co. are walking together near around the Planet Madson headquarters, when all of a sudden, they notice some mysterious dark gray thunderclouds that appears over the Planet Madson headquarters, and to a sudden surprise, lightning then strikes the building, causing Planet Madson Industries' employees to flee from the Planet Madson headquarters, so however, January to runs towards near the castle to investigate, but however, while he is there, Darkos then appears, by sneaking behind a bush, and then sneaking up on Hugo from behind, thru capturing him and flee, causing January to run back and rejoin back to his gang, so that January's gang can chase after Darkos and free Hugo, just in time. what are some of your favorite headcanons for just the two of us?

Oh man, I have so many lol. I'm gonna split them into serious stuff (plot/character hc), cute stuff (pairing/shipping hc) and dumb stuff (they're idiots hc). This is definitely not all of them, just the ones I could think of tonight. Kinda spoiler-ish if you haven't read up to the most current Just the Two of Us chapters so be warned! Serious Stuff

Kaito as a hero archetype always fascinates me. I feel like he has this compulsion to help others, especially those he perceives as weaker or unable to protect themselves. I think that's why I portrayed his 'biggest fear' in the simulation as hurting the people he loves the most and losing control in a way that makes him become a monster. (Very fun to consider depending on your HCs about his pre-game personality ehehe)

Kokichi is a walking bundle of trauma. So much has happened to this guy and I'm sure it's been dissected by people smarter than me but like - compulsive liar? Tiny? Really good at hiding? Those weird little spacing-out moments he gets? Something bad happened to you, didn't it? Like, maybe not as BAD as what I've depicted, but yeah. Poor baby.

Shadow Child was created as a representation of both Kaito and Kokichi's 'inner children', specifically the darker and more traumatic parts of their childhoods. They are portrayed more often as Kokichi because his trauma is much larger and more pronounced, and therefore more influential in the subconscious part of the simulation. I don't know why I stuck with they/them pronouns for them, it just kind of felt right?

The leech was based on Kaito's subconscious fears of his death. The concept of this parasite that drained its host's life force felt fitting for a death fear sort of thing. It also represents the loss of control he feels over this aspect of his life. It kind of 'evolves' as it takes in influences from other people, but that's kind of its main framework.

Miu's Copy had a massive breakdown during the bathroom scene. It was kind of her last straw before she turned on the leech. She kind of reflected on what she knew about the original Miu, the contents of the simulation and how Kaito and Kokichi interacted and it made her realise how fucked up everything was and how much she did not want to participate. Also she was getting sick of all the edgy thoughts leech was putting in her brain.

Cute Stuff

Kokichi's favourite food never used to be strawberries, it changed after Kaito fed them to him and he got some sort of psychological association between strawberries and him.

On that note, Kokichi probably can cook, like, decently, but he kind of plays up his ignorance because he likes Kaito showing him how to do it.

Kaito is super super into domestic life lol he can try to pretend he isn't but he so is. Definitely got into a routine when they were stuck in the simulation for that year.

Being with each other for that year made them get a really close, almost psychic-ish bond that people get when they spend too much time with each other. It's how Kaito can pick up on when Kokichi is lying, for example.

After he overcomes the whole 'don't touch me' hurdle, Kokichi swings to the other side of the pendulum and is very clingy. Won't leave Kaito alone. It annoys him at first but it grows on him.

They have lots of petty squabbles but they usually don't last. They're not fantastic at apologising properly to each other, it's usually just settled through physical affection or gifts (food).

Dumb Stuff

Kokichi drank shampoo the first time he saw it because he thought it was a fruity beverage. That's why Kaito started washing his hair for him.

Kaito named all his plants. He gets offended when Kokichi forgets them.

Miu definitely had relations with her P.A.L self.

I personally feel Penalteam was way too rushed and Qilin was convoluted to hell and back

Let's start with things I liked:

Qilin:

Sabine is just amazing? Everywhere? It's so cool to see that Marinette inherited her quick thinking from Sabine, and it's nice to see the life of someone else for once.

Ladybug should've let Qilin maim a few cops. As a treat. Especially that meter maid on a power trip. I was nervous that Qilin would be a lesser version of Stormy Weather (just having wind powers) but it's cool that she can split the earth and levitate things as heavy as police vans without even moving from her spot.

Chat Noir really shined in his scenes, I'm proud of him.

The contrast of Qilin shaking off her akuma because Ladybug fulfilled a promise to Penalteam shaking off her akuma because they managed to make her hate soccer and her clone team is really funny to me (and again proves how cool Sabine is)

Penal Team:

The Pre-akuma soccer game was fun, and so was the banter. Cracks me up that Alix wanted a girl vs boy duel and Kim was like "but then we'll LOSE!" XD. And finding out Sabrina and Marc are soccer nerds, like, whoda thunk? (And Nathaniel dragging his feet is such a mood, like, no I DON'T want to kick a ball I want to DRAW plz)

Adrien doesn't know how to play soccer? Uhhhh (Furious Fu Flashbacks) guess he's just good at improv.

Bustier I-always-have-Chloe's-back got red carded first, yessss.

The sheer scale of doing a city wide soccer game with super heroes is just awesome to watch, like, yes, launch the ball half way across Paris to Ladybug.

I'm glad to know the remaining powers, they're pretty cool and I can see them being very useful in multiple situations.

The ability "Fetch" was cute, especially the way Miss Tracker played off her touching the ball with her...dog whistle? Guys this episode was recorded on a potato so I might've missed some details visually.

Again, it's very funny that after Roi Singe uses Uproar on Penalteam, they get so annoyed with each other that Chloe basically hands over the akuma object to make them all go away.

I like that being a hero makes Nathaniel want to join the team to play soccer and I like that Sabrina stands her ground when Chloe wants her to stop playing and join her on the bench.

Aaaand now the things that annoy me:

Qilin -

How you gonna have Sabine show off her being so rooted in her heritage but pretend she didn't teach Marinette even basic phrases in her language?

You put Lila in her art class WHY? She's not even DOING anything, you could've put ANYONE there! It's like the Adrien Rule where they shove her into places she's not needed and doesn't do anything so that we don't forget she exists!

Roger, dude, you KNOW she's not making up a daughter, you could at LEAST back her up on THAT. And thanks a lot Bus Driver Dude who SAW HER USE HER TICKETS, you don't want to say ANYTHING in her defense after she gave you free food? You're all trash.

Marinette shouldn't have taken responsibility for a up-himself meter maid on a power trip harassing her mom and shouldn't have offered to pay, that was the most shoved in, forced, last second "let's make this about Marinette's failings" thing and it wasn't NECESSARY. This episode really said ACAB but still made the victim of injustice apologize to the Cop.

Seeing the Charms now just makes me depressed, congrats Sabine, that'll be useless one episode from now.

PenalTeam -

Bustier really put together this team building exercise for the class that acts like a Hive Mind, like, this class is nearly always in sync because otherwise they'd be individuls

I know Chloe hates Ladybug now or whatever but no one around her is freaked out that she's openly talking about waiting for Shadowmoth to help her get her "revenge" now?? No one else hears this shit???? Hell, THAT could've been Sabrina's wake up call, cuz, wut?!

I hate Mega Akumas. They could've at least made it that Shadowmoth needed to sacrifice a protective Charm to make a Mega Akuma. With Chloe actively on his side, she could've just handed hers over at some point, that even would've solidified her ACTUALLY working with him.

Penalty (the akuma is named Penalty and her team is PenalTeam and it took me too long to put that together) casts this giant yellow net over the city as like "boundaries" and it puts a gross yellow filter over the episode which is why all the screenshots and leaks up to this point have looked like shit.

While it was meta smart to get Alix and Alya out of the way early to justify not giving Alix a miraculous in The Team episode and also not give away that Alya still has the Fox, it is sad that they also used this method to get rid of Viperion and Ryuko (who would've been OP against this akuma) and Pigella (who is pretty useless powerwise...but so was Polymouse, so, wut?). Just kinda thought if they were gonna summon the whole team, they'd USE the whole team.

I'm sad that the remaining heroes didn't get a debut episode to prove themselves as heroic. I said the same for Party Crasher back with Kim's debut, but at least he exchanged SOME DIALOGUE with Fu. Here, it comes across like they weren't chosen because they're good people who deserve it. Hell, half of them were all but told "I chose you cuz you're good at soccer lol."

Also sad we didn't get transformation sequences or kwami intros that played up their individual personalities. I was looking forward to learning a little about Orikko who even in MOB episodes doesn't get many lines.

Also to give all 4 new heroes the same "Oh I can't be a hero because of [x] reason" speech to make Ladybug give them a "pep talk" to speed run justify them getting Miraculouses instead of, idk, BUILDING THEM UP AS HEROES was ughhhhh.

It's just extra frustrating because "Simpleman" exists instead of valid hero episode.

Though I liked the powers, it felt very contrived the way they tried to justify Caprikid's because it barely played into defeating PenalTeam. They made a big deal of it, but they could've just lied or skipped to Roi Singe's uproar. Caprikid probably could've used a different episode to showcase his ability (Genesis) to create anything he wanted.

They had Ladybug decide not to pass the ball ONE TIME and tried to make the episode about calling her out for not being a TEAM PLAYER alkdjfakldfj WUT?! She's been using her fellow team mates ALL SEASON, it's the BACKBONE of her and Chat Noir's beef, and now you wanna pull an "Antibug" and just PRETEND the rest of the season doesn't exist?! She even coordinated perfectly with Alya at the bEGINNING OF THE EPISODE, JUST LIKE WHEN LADYBUG LISTENED PATIENTLY TO THE BULTER IN "ANTIBUG" YET WAS CHASTISED FOR NOT LISTENING TO OTHERS LAKJFLAF!

Minotaurox's ability (Resistance) repels PenalTeam away from him like opposing magnets when they get too close, but the commentator says that his power makes him "impervious to all other powers"? But that's not what happened? If they wanted to show THAT then PenalTeam should've been shown red carding or touching him with her cleats but nothing happens. That's just a niggle since the commentator has no way in universe to know what the fuck he's talking about. It's just weird the writers gave him lines that are straight up lies.

Rooster Bold's ability (Supplemation) is so OP and a literal game changer if used right. He can choose any power he wants (I initially thought that meant he could "borrow" powers from his teammates or the akuma) but no! He just SAYS "I choose the power to score a goal every time I shoot the ball". So if he just said "I choose the power to teleport misused Miraculouses with the snap of my fingers..."

I cannot believe they gave Lila her first lines of the season to TEAM UP WITH CHLOE with 10 SECONDS OF THE EPISODE LEFT LKAJFLADFJ!

This is out of the blue and I apologize but how do you think the nations act differently when they are drunk vs sober (if you don't mind me asking). Idk how to word this but like ... We see Germany as super serious but easy to bother usually but the one time we see him drink he's all :-D :-D :-D in that one photo. Meanwhile I'm pretty sure a drunk Italy would just be more chatty and flirty i.e. an exaggeration of his usual self.

I do think Ludwig loosens up when he's drunk, loses the stick in his ass for once, n he's v easily entertained n physical touch becomes his number one love language when actual language fails him. He has learned from his past black out drunk mistakes to not speak so much bc he always says some unhinged shit that every1 remembers n brings up (nobody actually cares they only bring it up bc he gets so embarrassed over it), so the entire time he's drunk he's like "ok i only speak when necessary. the less words the better". And also he only really cuddles up to Feli when drunk, before he would do it to just anybody who didn't mind, but some night he put his head in Alice's lap n she braided his hair or whatever n Vene n Francoise wont stop bringing it up (again not that they care but its funny how embarrassed he gets) so yeah, he sticks to Feliciano now bc they're dating so it's easier to explain away. ALSO he’s the best dancer ever thanks to his extreme muscle control, he does the split on beat he can jump he can spin he can do it all, it’s an amazing sight to see.

Feliciano when drunk just wants to dance or fuck. He's either dragging his partner to the dance floor or to the toilet for a quick blowie, whichever is most convenient at that point. or he n Francoise lock themselves inside the bathroom n talk shit while fixing their hair or Francoise is touching up her makeup.
