We are confronted by rude people each and everyday, in today’s society it seems inevitable. An encounter with a rude person can either make or break your mood - these are stressful situations that can have a big impact on a person’s well being. Constant encounters with rude people can even cause depression. It is imperative for us maintain a positive outlook, attitude and demeanor - this is the key to a happy and content life.  

We can try our best to avoid these people but this may not always be an option, what do we do then?

Here’s some steps to take in order to deal with rude people:

Don’t loose your cool - do not give in to anger, do not stoop to their level as this can create a dent in your own image. More importantly keep calm and give off good vibes into the situation. We can control the energy we put out into the universe (a topic for another blog)

Don’t take it personally - it is important to have a level of introspection in order for you to grow us a person, learn from the situation. However rude behaviour is more about the persons own issues than anything else, although this does not mean that something is necessarily wrong with them either. Don’t let the situation get you down.

Confront if necessary only

Don’t expect the rude behaviour to change

Objectify the situation - is the person really being rude or is this just your interpretation? Are they aware of their rude behaviour, maybe they do not consider it to be rude. Understand why they were rude.

Maintain your dignity! 

Raise your consciousness where you cannot be affected

The most important thing to remember when it comes to rudeness in both the receiving and giving situations is to think before speaking - is what you have to say:
