side tangent: also!! is he emo or punk?? like it is fr not clear. those are very different music genres. i think it's supposed to be punk because of like the lgbtq+ stuff and the song he apparently made about luigi mangione (dude. come on) and all that stuff, but he constantly calls their band an emo band? poser behavior ngl

but, despite that, i’ll try to answer.

the short story is about making sacrifice for love, that love is sacrifice. geralt cannot sacrifice for essi because he doesn’t love her. and the greatest sacrifice in the end, for essi, is given not by geralt, but by dandelion, who loves her like a brother.

a note here is to not try to apply understandings of relationships to witcher characters because you will only end up confused and frustrated. our heroes (the good) participate in unhealthy dynamics at at least half the rate of the villains (the evil). a lot of everything is toxic or unhealthy at some point. for example, geralt and yennefer are endgame (and eventually they work through their problems) but sapkowski by time of contempt has no problem writing away how their relationship was once immature and volatile—and i feel like this is because they are characters and not people, if we are talking about real people, real people do not change. so labels like toxic, unhealthy, abusive, don’t really apply in the same way they do to real life relationships. i don’t mean that we shouldn’t use them, but i mean that it’s different describing a book character’s actions than a real person’s, because the characters’ “goodness” is not exactly determined by how fair they are in their relationships. if we talk about dandelion and toxicity, he is probably worse then the cesspit geralt fought the zeugl in. the point is to create interesting characters and stories, not good people.

tl;dr on that point, understand that every character relationship is created to serve the narrative and not the other way around, so sapkowski is very flexible with them. it boggles the mind because the characters can be so lifelike sometimes, and the urge is there to see them as people, but, they are story characters and were created to be such.

and as such you run into things that range from improbable to absolutely ridiculous bullshit in real life between real people, but in a story, are done to carry the right theme.

for example, geralt and istredd trying to kill themselves over yennefer, this is probably not the logical conclusion most men would come to, but it is dramatized because it is a story, and a story about, well, shards of ice which they’ve both caught in the eyes and heart, making only the snow queen beautiful and the rest of their world ugly.

dandelion here in a little sacrifice is asking geralt to sacrifice for essi by having sex with her even though he feels nothing for her, does not love her. he is asking geralt to find it within himself to sacririce despite not loving her. and indeed despite the one night of sacrifice, nothing comes of the witcher and essi, unlike with the witcher and the sorceress, because he does not reciprocate her love.

this is also where we get to call bullshit on sapkowski for understanding a one night stand for a girl you don’t love as sacrifice, appeasement. come on man

although i think there is a difference between what happens between geralt and essi and what happens between jacek and monika (from the short story “tandaradei!”). with geralt, essi, and geralt’s “sacrifice” for her, it’s not that geralt was leading her on and making her believe he loved her. unlike jacek. again, it’s more like appeasement, maybe consolation, that things would not work between them.

i don’t why it was geralt’s burden to sacrifice for her, though—perhaps because he intentionally tried to arouse her in the beginning of the story, so when she actually fell in love with him and he was like “whoops nevermind i was just self-depricating” to satisfy her desire for him became a sacrifice he was obligated to make.

(p.s. please don’t understand any of my answer as giving this a thumbs up, i’m just trying to explain it as it might have been conceived)

if it seems too pessimistic, ignore the details. the better part of this story imo comes from its conclusions:

love requires sacrifice. true love requires not just a little, but a lot.

essi obsessed with geralt is paralleled with geralt obsessed with yennefer. geralt realizes that yennefer has sacrificed for him, a little sacrifice, but that “a little sacrifice is a hell of a lot,” and he has been demanding even more than that little sacrifice (re: a shard of ice, he wants her full commitment, when he cannot say “i love you” first).

but unlike with yennefer to geralt, geralt cannot (initially) sacrifice for essi because he does not love her, “i feel nothing.” but essi still desires geralt, somewhat in part maybe because geralt made a pass at her in the beginning. so he feels guilty that she is in love with him, she frustrated that she is too, treats it like sickness.

this is treated by dandelion, who advises them that they’re all parting now, anyways, so they have to come to an end with this conundrum and either have a relation or not. in the end, geralt finds it within himself to sacrifice for essi, despite not loving her (how?).

then essi dies and it turns out in the end that the greatest sacrifice for essi was made by dandelion

rambling abt my danny johnson hcs bc I dont have anything better to do

alright so the fog most definitely changed everyone in it, but while most of them are for worse, Danny for better, actually. not for the "hehe I can mutilate people without worrying abt consequences" part. by all means I believe danny would get bored. of the same methods of killing, sacrifing, stalking for short periods, the same realms, same victims, etc. Danny, as patient as he can be while stalking, is a thrill seeking man, and only human, whether he likes it or not.

but this is a key part of him actually getting to explore who 'danny johnson' is. he spent his entire life putting on masks, physical or metaphorical, that he has no idea who 'danny' is otherwise, and this would give him a chance to explore, since, well, being painfully average isnt any advantage to him here and he has nothing better to do since he cant focus his attention on stalking and studying other people. when theres no one left to study, one is forced to study themselves.

he could actually grow out his hair, give himself stick and poke tats (maybe with the help of the legion, who knows), grow a beard to see if he likes it (I dont think he would), etc.

going from this, if he forms genuine bonds with anyone (especially any survivors) bc yk what else is left to do, he could actually, just maybe, open up about his past and realize oh fuck, that shit wasnt healthy or normal at all. I dont think itd fix him, but itd give him a better understanding of himself. I dont think he would ever upon up about this if it wasnt for the fog.

similarly I dont think he'd form any romantic bonds with anyone if it wasnt the fog as well, I fully believe danny used to cut himself off (more accurately, cut THEM up) as soon as he felt his feelings for anyone would get in the way of his mission. I dont think he even recognizes romantic love anymore. the difference in the fog is, well, you cant get rid of your problems by murdering them here bc they just come back like a boomerang.

he semi-canonly has NPD (as in the devs called him a bit narcissistic once and I stuck to it like a starving leech) and I most definitely believe he has the symptoms, as a lack of a sense of self is common with NPD anyway. I never wanna think too much abt this since I have a deeply set fear of misrepresenting already stigmatized disorders esp due to not having NPD myself but I will say, 1, he definitely has an internal hierarchy but the way he feels abt those above and below him are different than you'd assume, and 2, he would have been a murderer regardless of his npd and the npd has nothing to do with him becoming a murderer, it does influence it naturally yes bc its a PERSONALITY disorder but its not what makes him evil yk. its the ritualized abuse he went through all his life with the explicit intent to make him the way he is.

other, small stuff

so since the entity can and does change a few things with the killers, I love to think Danny has tapetum lucidum in his eyes, like a cat, to see better in the dark, esp beneath the mask's eyes.

the way his costume's... strap.. tentacle... things work is similar to a cat's tail as well. swishing furiously when upset, resting naturally when calm, curling slowly when curious etc. it makes it a little bit easier to guess how hes feeling with the emotionless mask on, for the theoretical audience at least.

he's actually not a fan of physical contact, unless it is to cause discomfort to or fluster someone. he's simply not used to it, but he will tolerate it when necessary. he's likely just touch starved but doesnt recognize the sensation, though.

he would not care enough to label his orientational identity but it'd definitely be pan and somewhere on the a-spectrum.

returning to the only getting to know himself after the fog bit, he'd probably realize hes at least a little bit gender queer. (I also love trans man danny headcanons I just cant seem to make it fit with my other hcs)

ok so i watched cinderella's castle and uh. ok here are my thoughts: first of all, the things i loved:

the puppets! thats what i was most excited about when it came to this show, and boy they definitely delivered. sir hop-a-lot and crumb were my favourite part of the show, and jon and joey knocked it out of the park as them!

the set design and lighting! i really loved the set, and the way they played with lighting was GENIUS. the fairy queen's entrance, and the way they used the blacklight during ella's entrance with the starlight dress so that you only saw the dress was amazing.

THE COSTUMES!!! they were gorgeous god!!

the choreography!! very nice as always :}

now onto the things i liked less...

way too many sex jokes for my taste. i know it's starkid but they don't usually lay it on this thick. it just made me cringe.

speaking of, i just generally didn't like the character of the prince very much. i found his style of humour kinda clashed with the tone of the show. james tolbert's acting definitely saved the character imo

and the absolute biggest disappointment for me: the soundtrack. god i'm sorry jeff really shat the bed with this one. purely sound-wise it's fine (though i'm not really a huge fan of the poppy feel of the music. i think the inclusion of electronic music is very interesting, but i personally would've preferred a more baroque rock type sound but that's just personal preference), but the songs were just extremely un-theatre-like. they suffer from what i lovingly call the "dear evan hansen problem": they're generic and vague songs where the character just sings about one feeling throughout the whole song. there's no evolution, which is KEY in musical theatre. for almost all the songs except the fairy queen's and one other song in act 2, i was just sitting there like "...ok? why is this song happening? it's telling me nothing". you could cut like 90% of the songs from this show out and you could still understand the plot perfectly well. the most egregious example being right at the start - the opening number. an opening number is supposed to introduce us to the world and the characters, and the opening number of this show does... neither. it just tells us there's. a castle on a hill??? ok??? what do i care??? the songs also feel very short - likely due to the lack of a bridge in most of them. bridges are important in musical theatre!!! they're usually the turning point of a song!! without one, this show's soundtrack feels empty and like it's missing something. and unfortunately, the overall poor quality of the other parts of the music also highlights jeff's poor lyricism. i can usually let it slide because the other aspects of the soundtrack are very good, but this time it's just... no. nobody's ever strung these words together in the history of man. fuck you mean "a cat that was strayed"??? nobody says that!!! god!!! also why are they talking about "neon lights" when the universe we're in is a medieval fantasy? i would've excused it normally, but earlier in the show, they SPECIFICALLY avoid mentioning a modern invention when the prince says he "dodged a sword thrust" instead of "dodged a bullet". so yeah overall, i feel like this show could've used a different songwriter, perhaps someone like the aj holmes and kaley mcmahon duo from twisted? but yeah those are my thoughts. no shade to you if you loved the ost, but i just personally found it weak! OH AND ALSO ELLA'S OUTFIT POST-RESURRECTION WAS A DOWNGRADE SORRY NOT SORRY!!!

So…Stella

As you may notice for the lack of reaction I am sort of falling out of interest with Helluva Boss, which is a shame cause I really liked the potential. I want it to be known I had faith and was skeptical that shipping centering will ruin it but…yeah,it eventually happened. Actually,not the ship,I’d be more inclined as Stolas as a character than the ship.

I could extend but before I do the same as Vivziepop and ignore the subject at hand in favor of Stolas, I’d talk about Stella and her biggest controversy:

Was she ruined?

Well…

Let me explain: something needs to be good in order to be ruined, so at the start of show she wasn’t “good” but she wasn’t “bad” either. Here’s the thing: Stella was pretty one note from the beginning. Before the Circus, all she did was yell, trow things at Stolas, being racist and hiring a hit man right in front of him. Therefore , there is not really a lot to ruin there. Not a really good character honestly.

However, i would say that it takes an incridible amount of talent to ruin such a one note character, and it´s surprising they did managed.

Before i explain this conclusion i´ll say something i have said before, allegations Vivziepop will NEVER beat : Vivienne doesn't like writing women. Ok, i don't know it cause i don't know them personally but thats the way their writing feels, women who are not villanous feel like they are written as a charity, as a comfort price as a "i can't be sexist, i have a show with a lesbian protagonist, look i gave Millie another short story" The only one of her characters i feel there´s an enjoyment instead of "give me props" would be Nifty from Hazbin mostly cause she is a comic relief that doesn't need to much of a backstory (even then, she is also used to advance a male character´s develoment though) , but i´ll continue.

What does Andrealphus even exist? Well, the show needs a charismatic evil villain and it CAN'T be Stella, because that means there would be an enjoyment to her and the writers can't even allow that. Thats when Stella fails.

And here is my bigger problem: Stella is not well constructed, Stella is a tantrum.

When writers have noticed an unintended audience reaction and they portray it or try to fix it on their work, it shows, its mostly obvious when it happens. By season 2, they are aware that (surprise) people have some sympathy for the cheated woman. So they make her meaner, which is eyerolling, unoriginal, annoying , a waste BUT it´s not against her previous characterization , nothing about the little we had seen of her gets really contradicted. Therefore, annoying as it is, it´s possible to give it a pass. The next time she appears she is more loud, more annoying and stupid, the oportunity to be a bigger villain , at least on Stolas´s subplot, taken away so the shinning moments go to a male character instead, in PURE Vivziepop fashion.

Next episode we saw her, even more annoying. There´s one moment thats enjoyable on a sinister way: the scene where she pretends to comfort Octavia, then smiles. Probably implying she will play "understanding mother" in Via´s face but it will be actually poisoning her against Stolas, or manipulating or something that implies getting a bit away from her only trait that is "hating Stolas"

But no, next episode has her literally doing nothing but laugthing IN OCTAVIA´S FACE about their loss. They can't allow anything about her being enjoyable or entertaining, Andrealphus has to be the big and cool menace to comfront, Stella doesn't deserve to be cool for a single second.

Yet the biggest tantrum in this episode is not Stella related. This is one of those moments that i can't stand because i feel like the creators are looking at my face and saying "i think you are stupid"

The whole subplot of IMP refusing to kill the two men to them was probably a great "take that" but deep inside it´s actually begging for the audience to not go, please don't see things diferently, specially how ooc it is for them to not wanting to kill them for money. It´s a very cheap way to talk to audiences.

If the thing wasn't already too much "on your nose" the woman cheated is called "Karen" (please , i think we already have outgrown Karen already as a meme) and is obnoxious as saying "yes, this women don't deserve your sympathy" and it´s just bad because it´s awfully hypocritical : 1) She is framed as evil for requesting the kill but literally killing humans is the job of out main characters , why the show is suddenly so moral about it? . 2)The situation is meant to be a parallel and..no, it´s not the same, the human couple didn't have the power imbalance thing and upperclass pressure Stol/iz had ,it´s not the same situation; even the show ignores their previously stablished nuances

So the show ends up in a double edged sword when the writers think they are supeior to the audience, intelectually and moral but at the same time beg for their approval, they are imploring to not bail at the show. And that, in adition to VM´s lack of interest in female characters , gives a terrible combination.

My conclussion is that the fans are right...the wrong reasons because it´s very valid to be mad about Stella just not "she was villanized for the sake of the ship" no, she was already villanous, what she was was made dumber, lame, wasted and pushed into a mysoginistic trope for the sake of TWO male characters.

I was going to talk about the audience reaction and why i think people are not completely right in the backlash , but thats more like another subject cause writing along i realized that even if it´s for the wrong reasons , the dissapointment is very guaranteed and so is the resentment.

I don't think Stella has real fans, like she was never a good demon, a good character nor framed as tragic. I think what people are mad about is an idea and some sort of audience rebelion against bad writing. Which can be good but sometimes the point can be missing. I can explain it better in another posts.

okay now that ive had time to properly stew over nayuta's death... i realized i kind of legitimately hate it from a narrative perspective. im still enjoying part 2 and everything (more than i enjoyed the majority of part 1 tbh. it only really clicked for me with the ending) but with nayuta gone? part 1 has in, retrospect, become meaningless.

the creation of nayuta's character was the conclusion to that entire story line. alongside its message that even if the world sucks, there's still always going to be love in it - and that love is the only way to break the cycle of abuse. what made me enjoy chainsaw man sm is how, despite the constant whump and bloodshed, that message was still at the core. it gave all of denji's suffering a point.

i dont enjoy many other grimdark stories because they're usually suffering for the pure sake of suffering. that isn't interesting to me personally. if a plot is just characters going through constant hell, front to back, without any silver linings... then i dont care. why should i? im basically watching someone smash a bunch of action figures with a hammer. i think tragedy carries more weight if it amounts to something in the end. it doesn't have to be anything great, or even a happy ending, but just SOMETHING to add payoff to it all. if a character starts at rock-bottom, stays at rock-bottom throughout the plot, and ends at rock-bottom, then how is that not repetitive? i thought chainsaw man shared that opinion with me.

but if nayuta was always gonna get killed off for more denji angst... then why bother writing that story at all? it's not like part 1 is being carried on in other ways. kishibe and kobeni haven't made any appearances. aki + power have only been mentioned once or twice... so what was the point of any of them? part 1 isn't impacting the larger story at all now. you probably don't even need to read it to understand what's happening in part 2!

if i gave someone a brief summary that amounted to 'denji used to be a poor homeless kid with a pet devil but then he fused with that devil and became a devil hunter. he worked with some other devil hunters but they all died. his devil hunter boss was actually a devil the whole time and was evil so he killed her and then she got reincarnated as a kid he's taking care of now' you'd be able to skip the entirety of it.

that sucks!! that's not a good sign for how your story is set-up!!! and now im wondering if the same will happen for part 2!!!!

i was always kind of cautious going into part 2. on one hand, i love chainsaw man and getting to read more of it is great. on the other hand, part 1 had such a perfectly bittersweet ending. seriously 10/10. i consider it one of the best endings to any series ever. it affected me sm and i wouldn't change a thing about it.

but at this point, i don't know if ill feel the same about however part 2 wraps up - or how the series in general will wrap up. ig thats the problem with writing something the beginning of a story so well. you risk falling short as time goes on, instead of ending on a high note.

Arsénes eyes followed Romans sleek body until he vanished in the crowd to make his way to the bar. Only then he took his time to take in his surroundings. It was easier to take everything in now his eyes got used to the dim room and the flashy lights and as another song played through the room - in a language he didnt understand he started to swing his hips again, his own hands trailing down his body as he closed his eyes and focused on the music, how it pulsated through every cell of his body. And maybe thats why he didnt feel the presence when someone else entered the room - only when it was too late and a person grabbed him by the waist.

„Hey, took you l-„the smirk on his face vanished immediately and he paused for a moment because those hands definitely didnt belong to his husband. No, they felt too big, too wrong and so he turned around and recognation hit him. It was the same guy who tried it before, that bastard! „Knew that other dude would leave you alone so i thought i take my chance. Not easy to get huh?“ he whispered, the scent of too much alcohol and cheap cologne wafting up to meet his nose which he scrunched his nose in absolute disgust. With all of his strength he tried to push the guy away but even though he was rather athletic and wasnt shy to throw some mean he still had problems getting that dumb guy away from him.

Thats when Romans figure came in his view and the french man breathed out in relieve because he knew that no matter what would happen now, at least he was safe. The sound of glass clattering on a table made him shriek together. It was enough for the stranger to get his hands off of him. But Arsénes relief was short lived because the guy had pulled him back and pushed his body disgustingly against his own, a malicious grin on his face. Roman gave one warning, he tried to be nice here Arséne knew right away. But the stranger was still bold or probably dumb and let his hands wander off. And then he heard it, the sound of bones breaking. As soon as the man let go of him Arséne stepped quickly aside and then he looked at the scene in front of him; half worried but still deeply mesmerised.

Yes he was clearly intrigued by the display in front of him and his body was full of adrenaline. Then Roman turned around and looked at him, bruised up, lips bloody but he was smirking like he ruled the world and Arséne loved him for that. Still, the soft expression on his face was clearly visible as he walked up towards the shaken boy. Arséne always felt at ease in chaos so he actually enjoyed it and he knew that as an upir the CEO would probably healed up by the end of the night but he still looked unmistakably worried for his husband so the first thing he did was inspecting his face for any serious injuries. After deciding that it was nothing too bad all the tension from before melted away and only desire and love was there. Their kiss was something else and didnt held the softness of Romans eyes. It was knocking him right off his feet, it was messy and he could taste Romans blood on his tongue but he didnt care. How could he after Roman protected him like that? He truely was only his.

„Im alright. Im not sure if im flattered or overwhelmed“ he admitted with an eyeroll but he didnt hide the warmth in his expression. It held only fondness for him. As he wrapped his arms tightly around Romans body he made sure to send daggers at everyone who dared to come closer. He maybe wasnt the best in selfprotection but he sure as hell knew how to fight for the man he loved. They were truely made for each other, never scared of protection the other with everything they had. His face turned around and he send a sidelong glance towards the still crying piece of man.“Serves him right“ Arséne sneered out loud enough for the crowd to hear before his attention drifted back towards his husband.

„You look very sexy so bruised and bloody.“he stated before lifting his thumb up to rub it over a small cut on Romans lip. His finger was dripping with blood when he pulled it away and instead of swiping his finger on a tissue he took his thumb into his mouth to clean it up by licking it off with his tongue. When he was done he pulled the finger out with a plopping noise and leaned in to press a soft kiss on Romans lips, savouring in the taste of his lips mixed with the still warm blood.“I think some privacy would be nice. I want to congratulate you properly for defending my honour.“ he said seductively while his fingers played with the belt that was around Romans slacks. The man knew exactly what Arsénes plan was and pulled him back their little private area where the drinks still waited on the table. One elegant; colourful and clearly high end and the other seemed to be a classic drink. Something that was probably vers digusting and dry. „Oh is that the strawberry drink they offered on the menu?“ he asked in awe, eyes twinkling and lost of all the stress they held before. Once he had the drink in his hand he put the straw between his lips and took a generous sip of it before exclaiming that it was very sweet and fruity; exactly his taste.

Okay I'm at Ibis and ready to catch up.

I was in a little depressive episode but definitely out of that funk now.

So my little apple orchard of a man I was seeing was going very well. We became best friends fast and he makes me laugh so hard. The kind of laughing that comes from your stomach and makes your whole body buzz. We became lovers but of course there was the undercurrent of knowledge that not only am I leaving for Argentina but that I was waiting for Grace. Well Grace came back.

I cut things off romantically with the apple of both of my eyes because Grace reached out wanting to start over. She asked for a complete fresh start and to try and not let the past define the future. She wanted to hangout again. I agreed. So G and I tried again. I don't feel like getting into those details honestly. We started spending every day together and became intimate yada yada.

Well that ended (surprise to no one) because I caught her in a lie AGAIN. She lied about sleeping with these two girls who I already know she slept with. The worst part is that I for the 1000000th time was willing to overlook it. She became hot and cold with me. Telling me she wanted to be exclusive and in the same text "wanting to make sure I knew we were not getting back together". She told me she did not talk to or hangout with this one girl she lied about hooking up anymore and then she posted them on her couch together 24 hours later. She randomly blocked me on instagram but was still texting me she loved me and saw a future with me. My stomach started hurting all day. She was keeping up this public appearance of hating and trashing me all the while baiting me. I don't know why honestly. It was terrible and I lost it tbh. I lost my mind.

I asked myself is this what I want. Is this going to be the rest of my life, wondering when she was going to like me, wondering what she is telling her friends when I'm not there. I want to be with someone who defends me and who does not leave me guessing. I want someone who does not wake up on Tuesday and hate me but wants to fuck again by Friday. I knew she was healing but at what point does it become cruel. I also got laid off during all this so me being a Capricorn... this has ruined my month.

She ended up blocking me on everything after I didn't answer this long text that she sent. I never read it. For the past 4 years Gracie has always said the same things "you don't understand me, no one understands me" and she is right. Unfortunately I believe there are people in your life that are only meant to understand parts of you. Jolie gets me in ways Ethan never will and thats why I am so happy to have both of them. My nanny, my mother, Emma, they all will understand parts of me that only they can. It's quite wonderful actually to have all these pieces of me in all these people. People I will never speak to again, Paul, Bent, my 5th grade teacher, they have parts too and I'm so glad.

I understood parts of Grace that I will cherish forever. I will never fully hate her but I also know I can never fully love her again. G deserves a great fulfilling love and I think I finally realized I'm not the person who will give that to her. I think I will always try but I don't think I ever have or will ever be able to sasiate whatever it is she is looking for. God I will lover her forever though.

Onto my apple orchard of a man. The problem with being idiot best friend who are also lovers is that feelings develop. Both ways for sure (thats what she said). Unexpected but I'm a dumb girl for thinking anything else would happen lmao. Now, I am very afraid of things like that. I think way too ahead of myself and worry about minor details instead of just having fun in the moment which is what I try to do. Long story short I ended it completely. We will still be friends of course but I just cannot deal. I can't deal with anything these days. I already miss him in that aspect but who knows what the future holds. He is also not really the type to "fight" for it - big time chiller.

I started back on sleeping meds and I also have a couple interviews so I think things will be okay. I just need to work I lose my shit if I don't work. They gave me a fat severance when they laid me of off so that was chill but I did have to push my Argentina trip to Nov. if I don't have a job by the end of Sep. I have to make American money if I want to pay rent here while I'm gone lmao. I was devastated but I still have hope I can get out there after voting.

I also want to start a capture the flag team so fucking bad like what has gotten into me. Imma make a poster for it and see who signs up lmao.

I feel so good writing this all out.

I had a shoot with a friend Lila and I'm excited to make a collage out of the photos. I have been playing a lot of chess. I also have been staying in on the weekends and having lots of get togethers at my house. Going to the bars and drinking just does not appeal to me right now but with the weather turning inside out I'll get back out there soon enough.

Nature is healing, sunrise, cool dice (how was the boat trip?)

My toxic trait is I think my boy scout training would be sufficient in a societal collapse, which, to the other side of my brain, tells me I would die immediately in an apocalyptic situation. But yes, lets go hiking! (and thank you for calling me kind soul!)

I used to be a really good morning person! Back in like middle and early high school. Now I'm a night owl, I don't know what happened. I moved to a new high school and my body's circadian rhythm just flipped. man I am trying so hard to do everything right. and yet the horrors. Indeed. Water is great - I am a frequent bathroom enjoyer in college

Nerds rule the world! I have some pretty cool red socks so thank you. Boat trip was fun and awesome and I have a really cool tanline where my watch is. If you've seen the recent post I made about dealing with people (everyone is trying to be a good person etc) I wrote that based on my experience with the other people in the boat.

There were a couple people in the same watch as me who would consistently shit-talk the skipper of our boat. Some of their complaints were valid, but I think they read way too deep into those and were looking for things to complain about. I listened to them and tried to see where they were coming from, and tbh I could! But if they had tried to see things from a more forgiving and adapting attitude, they would've had a far greater time, and the skipper really didn't deserve all that. I think he was trying his best, for a fairly old dude.

The one fair complaint I truly agreed with the others about was when the skipper decided to dump our waste inside an area you're legally Not Supposed to Do That, which... as a guy at a military college I understand both sides of This Rule Is Stupid So I've Elected to Ignore It as well as Follow The Rules Because You Haven't Thought Of Everything You Idiot so. I'm on side Follow The Rules but I get it.

The sailing was fun too! Its louder inside the sailboat than outside of it because the ropes bang against the hull and you can really hear that. It sounds so incredibly loud inside if its windy outside because every rope flying around sounds like a gunshot or like something metal snapped, and then you go up and "well its windy but the ropes sound normal". We got a little unlucky because there was just very little wind most of the way up and back down, to the point where we used our motor more than half of the way to stay on schedule. Most of the time the biggest problem was how sweaty I got when trying to fall asleep (which was very - boat can get pretty stuffy inside).

At one time though the wind was so strong we were at a 20-30 degree angle constantly - and that was with a reef taken in the main (that means we lowered the mainsail a little bit so that it was smaller and would catch less wind - you can take 2 reefs in the main at most). It took actual skill and positioning to get dressed for my watch because you could not rely on the floor to not throw you against the wall as you were taking off your shirt. And when we tacked (meaning we turned so the wind was coming at us from the other side) it was so violent! We had to secure everything to make sure it wouldn't fly off the counters when we turned. Its hard to explain but whenever you tack and especially when you gibe, when the wind passes the midpoint and catches the sail it can really just seize the boat and what was a nice measured turn suddenly turns into a loud, hard spin. At least thats what it feels like. Whenever you tack or gybe thats a minimum of 90 degrees change of course.

- you tell him that of course you still want to date him, you just wanted him to know

- it was easier for you if you were completely honest with him

- he understands that if nothing else

- the man has his own problems with secrets and being himself so it's not a bad reasoning to him

- as long as you still want to date him that is.

Eddie Brock

- which if you comes out first which causes the other to go 'oh thank god me too'

- it's a race against time

- if it's you Eddie immediately relaxes with you and is like 'i'm very glad you said that. because i agree.'

- Venom doesn't give two shits, it isn't a deal on his planet, whatever

- he has no idea why the two of you are making such a big deal about it

- but if for some odd reason Eddie tells you first it makes you feel instantly better

Newsflash: Dazai cares for Chuuya

Before reading any further, I will be talking about stormbringer, so spoilers ahead!! Translation credits go out to: @popopretty on tumblr, make sure to give this kind human some love and appreciation<3

Also if you want to read the first few chapters of stormbringer: @buraihatranslations is currently translating it, give them much love and appreciation as well, they deserve it!!

Honestly, I have been so obsessed with Soukoku lately and I think the reason behind this is because when it comes to Soukoku, their feelings for each other are not as easy to grasp as love or hate, it is much more profound than that. There is care, hurt, trust, resentment, companionship, bitterness, and consideration...And ironically enough, thats just the tip of the iceberg.

If we break down their individual feelings towards each other, it will be easier to understand their bond.

On Chuuya's end, his feelings are much more clear due to his expressive personality. He wears his emotions on his sleeves, he can try and hide what he feels towards Dazai but his true feelings tend to unravel easily.

He sometimes tries to mask his feelings towards Dazai by throwing insults, but his facial expressions are enough to contradict what he is saying.

Chuuya's feelings towards Dazai can be easier to comprehend. He obviously feels this certain betrayal due to the fact Dazai left the Port Mafia. Not to mention, he and Dazai have always had a rivalry relationship.

In the Soukoku wiki page, it is stated that Chuuya is aware of Dazai not experiencing a proper childhood, therefore allows him to act as childish as he can and lets him tease him relentlessly. I don't know how reliable this source is, but either way I think its worthy enough to add.

In the Dragon head conflict when Dazai was out of sight, Chuuya told Mori to forget about Dazai. That was until Hirotsu mentioned a microscope, Chuuya quickly realizes it was code language because he remembered a previous conversation where Dazai says he needs a microscope to be able to see Chuuya properly.

The moment he figured out it was a tracker, Chuuya did not hesitate to jump in and rescue Dazai. But here is the catch: No one but Chuuya knew about the microscope, if Chuuya really didn't care for Dazai he wouldn't have mentioned the microscope and kept all this under wraps, leaving Dazai in a mess.

Chuuya trusts Dazai with his life. He never hesitates to leave his life on Dazai's hands when it has to come to it. Chuuya and Dazai have known each other for years, for Chuuya to be able to trust Dazai that much is because Dazai also cares for him too, right?

The answer here is yes, Dazai cares for Chuuya. In a superficial level, it doesn't seem like Dazai truly cares, but I can assure you that he does care for him. Weather you like to think of his care in a platonic or romantic manner, the care Dazai has for Chuuya is undeniable and extremely significant for Dazai's character.

I think that stormbringer establishes this idea even further. There is one specific moment in this light novel that shows his genuine concern towards Chuuya's well being:

"There is one problem." Dazai cut off his sentence hesitantly. "It has nothing to do with the sucess rate of the plan. It is a matter we have to overcome in the end but... It may require some time to decide."

"What's with you?" Chuuya raised his eyebrows at Dazai. "Stop dramatizing it. Just hurry up and say it."

"I said earlier about this control spell to open the 'gate' that is used to reset the command inside Chuuya, right?" Dazai spoke with a strangely restrained voice. "If we use that, the logs of the command formula that were written in the past will be erased. That means...even if the memory erasure was used on Chuuya in the past, the traces of that will be erased as well."

"What?"

"I told you before right, the memory erasure command. The only way we can confirm if Chuuya is human or not is to check the history to see if the memory erasure command was ever used. It means..." Dazai looked at Chuuya with eyes that he had never looked at him before. Those eyes were serious. "If we use that control spell, the method to confirm if Chuuya is an artificial personality created by a string of code, or just a normal human being, will be lost. For good."

The time had stopped.

Chuuya opened his eyes and looked towards Dazai but his eyes were not seeing anything. The wind blew between the two of them. Even so, Chuuya did not blink.

"Verlaine became like that because he was tormented by the curse that he was not human. That only is enough of a big problem. The matter of being human or not." Dazai looked at his pocket watch, gave it a glance and continued. "I can delay the time until the plan starts for about two minutes. I will send an order for my men to wait... You can think about it alone for a while. Cuz I guess its hard for you to collect your thoughts with me around."

Having said so, Dazai turned away and walked down the stairs, leaving Chuuya alone.

Dazai fixated in his pocket watch. Two more minutes. Too short for a life decision. But he couldn't afford more than that.

Inside Dazai's head, he was planning a procedure to swith to an alternative plan in case Chuuya refused, at a tremendous speed.

This section in stormbringer is personally one of my favorites, this is a very rare moment between both of them, but especially for Dazai. Like I stated earlier Chuuya wears his emotions on his sleeves, therefore even if he tries to mask his care with insults, its still painfully noticable that he genuienly looks after Dazai. Chuuya also sometimes show a vulnerable side of himself to Dazai, especially after using corruption.

Dazai on the other hand is extremely unreadable. Its hard to understand his true intentions and if he really cares for people or only sees them as a pawn. In this moment though, Dazai was being painfully genuine. Dazai literally prioritized Chuuya over the mission. He was already thinking of coming up with an alternative plan just in case Chuuya refused, obviously the sucess rate of the alternative plan would be lesser than the actual plan Dazai had in mind, he choose Chuuya's wellbeing over a mission.

In this section, Dazai wasn't throwing jokes or witty remarks, he was being serious. Because Dazai knows how desperately Chuuya wants to be human. He knows how important being human is to Chuuya.

Dazai wasn't manipulating Chuuya by giving him the chance to decide, we can see that Dazai was literally showing a lot of hesitation when mentioning this to him, we also get to see what Dazai was thinking, and we can tell he wasn't thinking about manipulative his movements in any way. All of this wasn't coming out of manipulation, it was coming out of pure care.

After six steps, Dazai reached the stair. He stepped on the stair and started walking down. Three steps down the stair, he heard a *clang*, a cool sound of metal echoing behind him. It sounded like the metal was kicked by the sole of someones shoes. The moment Dazai realized what the sound was, Dazai turned around in surprise.

There was already no one at the top.

Dazai was dazed for a moment, then he loosened his lips and laughed.

"Trying to act cool, huh?" Dazai smiled, both annoyed and relieved. Then he turned on his radio and sent out his order. "Chuuya has sallied, everyone get ready for battle."

I personally love this part so much, relief washed over Dazai the moment he noticed that Chuuya was going to go through with the first plan, which proves my point that he wasn't manipulating him and how Dazai was under a lot of stress because he wasn't sure if the alternative plan would be as effective as his original one.

Yet he still was willing to go through the alternative plan if Chuuya refused, because Dazai values him and regards his wellbeing.

Dazai was being surprisingly gentle in this section, he was being honest. There was no ulterior motive behind his actions here, just a boy looking after his partner.

"So i'm going to send an order to my men to prepare for action... Is that okay?"

"Of course it's okay." Chuuya turned to Dazai. "Why are you asking me such a thing?"

Dazai didn't answer right away.

That was an unusual expression. It's like he was trying to say something, but he had to arrange the words in his head to decide where he should start. An expression he rarely shows.

This was right before Dazai drops the bomb to Chuuya about the memory erasure command. He was even asking for Chuuya's opinion on sending his men to get ready, this was the first time Dazai ever showed actual concern without masking it with witty remarks. You can tell that Chuuya isn't used to this.

And when you think about it, when Dazai and Chuuya have missions together, Dazai always uses corruption as a last resort and he always allows Chuuya to make the decision if they will be using it or not.

I personally belive that the main reason Chuuya trusts Dazai with using corruption is because The Sheep used to exploit his powers too much, but Dazai leaves the decision to use corruption up to Chuuya. Dazai understands the physical and mental toll corruption takes on Chuuya and therefore leaves the choice up to him.

Theres another section in stormbringer that I really enjoy, it doesn't necessairly show solicitude but I still think this should still be taken into consideration:

"You seem pretty confident that Chuuya is human, don't you?"

"I am," Dazai laughed with a sigh. "There is no way a man-made code could create such a personality that I detest so much."

Throughout the whole story, Dazai is more than determined that Chuuya is human. The main reason Dazai finds Chuuya so intresting is because of how frighteningly human Chuuya can be, because of the fact that he always wears his emotions on his sleeves, something Dazai rarely does himself. Thats personally a nice sentiment from Dazai's end, even when Chuuya struggles completely when it comes to believing in his own humanity, Dazai still can't help but see him as a human being.

Also I am aware that Dazai literally said he detests Chuuya here but he also sighed and laughed while stating this, showing us that he isn't being serious about hating him.

And its not only in stormbringer were he shows his concern towards Chuuya. In fact, in this following manga pannel Dazai is telling Chuuya that if he is willing to listen him, he will stage his own escape so that Chuuya doesn't get punnished.

Honestly, if Dazai didn't care enough for Chuuya, he wouldn't have mentioned this to him. Chuuya didn't care enough to realize that he literally unwillingly freed Dazai which would get the pm mad at him, so the fact that Dazai is literally helping him out is no doubt out of care for him. If Dazai didn't have any regard for Chuuya he would've not staged his escape or mentioned anything to Chuuya, eventually incriminating him.

There are many misconceptions when it comes to Dazai's feelings towards Chuuya, people think that he doesn't care for him due to the fact that he left the Port Mafia, leaving Chuuya behind. But heres the thing: Dazai's intentions had nothing to do with Chuuya. He left the organization for his own good, he left it to fullfill Oda's wish.

"If Dazai cared for Chuuya then why didn't he take Chuuya with him?" the reason is simple, he knows how much the PM means to Chuuya. In stormbringer it is shown that Chuuya feels as if his humanity is attached to the people he is loyal to, in this case its the port mafia. Verlaine wanted to get rid of the pm because he believed that the pm is what kept Chuuya's humanity, eventually making Chuuya believe that he is only human if he stays loyal to the pm. Dazai knows this. Thats exactly why he didn't take Chuuya with him or even explains to Chuuya why he left, he knows it would be selfish to basically rip Chuuya's sense of humanity apart.

I have a feeling that if Dazai told Chuuya about the real reason he left the Port Mafia, Chuuya will not only feel conflicted about being in the pm, but he would also have an inner conflict with himself as a human.

People also think Dazai may not really care for him because of the fact that after the fight against Lovecraft he actualy deserted him, maybe that part was truly just supposed to be seen as simple humor, but either way I want to talk about it. Chuuya's only request to Dazai was to take him back to base safe, so why did Dazai leave Chuuya behind?

I mean he has carried Chuuya back to saftey before with no problem, for example in stormbringer when Chuuya uses corruption for the first time Dazai carries him back to the billiards bar and not to the mafia’s base so that he could say goodbye to his passing friends.

The reson behind this is because Mori needs to know that unlike Dazai, Chuuya is absolutely loyal to him. Leaving Chuuya the way he did will make Mori believe that these two really are at each others throats and that Dazai is insignificant to Chuuya. Making it seem that for Chuuya, the mafia comes first before anything else.

Therefore Dazai established Chuuya's saftey within the mafia since not only does Mori want these two to be hostile with each other, he doesn't want Chuuya to eventually turn against him if he truly found out more about Dazai's true reason of departure. Then again, this isn't canon but it is a logical assumption.

Not to mention that although Dazai did leave him behind, he folded Chuuya's coat and hat before taking his leave. There is also an an extra chapter where Ozaki Kouyou was talking with Chuuya but when he left he forgot his coat, which made Kouyou came across the coat; where she noticed a badge sewed inside saying "Name: Hatrack", she smiled fondly thinking to herself that some things just never change, in this case, Dazai and Chuuya's bond.

Dazai literally took his time to sew this into his coat just to tease him, it was a simple gesture but it shows us how their dynamic will never change. No matter what these two go through, they will always share a bond that consists on teasing, trust and underlying care.

All of this actually makes that theory of Dazai planting a bomb under Chuuya's car for the sole reason that the PM doesn't find Chuuya as an acomplice who aided Dazai on his escape much more feasable.

For Dazai to just plant a bomb under Chuuya's car with no motive makes no sense because if Dazai's true intentions were to simply mess with Chuuya, he would've most likely made it clear at that time. Dazai always has an underlying motive behind his actions, and in this case it is very likely that he did that for Chuuya's sake.

Don't get me wrong, I am aware that the bomb incident could've just been a comedic moment and I shouldn't look too much into it, but there is still a posibility, right?

These two hold so much trust and care for one another, yet they also hold a lot of bitterness and resentment. In the end the good aspects of their dynamic outweighs the bad.

Either you see these two in a platonic or romantic way, you can't tell me that their bond isn't significant.

Why Lloyd is my least favorite ninja and how I rewrite him

Notes:// you know the rodeo by now, long post so it’s going to be under a read more, and I’m not gonna tag this with Lloyd because of the criticisms I have against his character, if you don’t want to hear Lloyd be critiqued then don’t reas the post

Why I don’t like Lloyd

Maybe it’s because I’m a Kai kinnie or maybe it’s because I have a bias agaisnt the younger sibling but Lloyd has never really been a favorite of mine

He was enjoyable in s1 but after that he kinda lost all personality for me and I stopped enjoying him

I think this is mostly for two reasons:

1. His screen time

2. His “character arcs”

I’ll go ahead and knock out his screentime here because it pretty much speaks for himself

Lloyd takes up so much screentime in the show that it’s actually jarring, he’s the character with the most seasons, having s1-2, s4, s8-11, and finally s14 ((the island special)). Which I think makes lloyds writing flaws all the more noticable

A big reason, albeit a bit of a petty one, for why I don’t like him is because he constant hyjacks other characters plots and makes them about him, this happened with Kai in both s4 and s11

Even if he’s not the main focus of a season, he always has a side plot focusing on him like in s3 and s12

The writers need to include Lloyd in other seasons is making it harder for the other main characters to actually have enough screentime to grow and develop on there own

And as a side effect of this, Lloyd gets to become the most important character in every season he is, taking roles from other characters who needed them

My best example is Cole being leader, he was set up and established as leader in the pilots and s1, and he did pretty good in it! Cole being a leader is a interesting concept that I would have loved to see been developed

But after Lloyd grew up they threw that plot point into the trash so they could have the mystical green ninja be leader even though throughout s1-7 he hardly actually talks to the main cast and him being leader doesn’t add any interesting dynamic like cole and kais rivalry despite Kai being a sort of right hand man to Coles leadership.

And in s1-s7 especially everything literally revolves around Lloyd to the point where his existence is more important than everyone else’s, and everyone’s motivations are to protect him.

Again I understand he is important, he’s the green ninja, but you have to let your other characters grow and develop, Lloyd is not the only main character in your show

Like for fuck sakes I don’t need 3 arcs about Lloyd and his dad, can I finally have another Kai season

Lloyds character arcs honestly kinda suck

Im going to be honest with you

Lloyds kinda an ass

The reason I like jay more then Lloyd even though jay has been way more mean spirited then Lloyd throughout the entire series is because you can atleast make the argument that jay doesn’t know when his jokes can hurt. And the show doesn’t portray jay as in the right, he gets what he deserves for some of the meanier things he says.

The same can’t be said about Lloyd

Lloyd says things to the other ninja that is honestly so mean spirited it’s jarring to hear it from him

Best example being when Lloyd told Kai to get over his shit when Kai was grieving in s4

But what makes it so frustrating is that the show always portrays Lloyd like he’s in the right which is why a lot of his character arcs feel flat or uninteresting

The only time this doesn’t apply is in s2 and in s3, in s2 the show paints Lloyd as being unfair to Misako when he RIGHTFULLY gets mad at her for abandoning him, I’ll get back to this later

The second time in s3 is when he’s traveling with Garmadon and having to be taught to balance his powers, which is actually one part of s3 I really liked, it was nice to see these two bond and have Garmadon teach Lloyd something that wu would other wise not teach him. And it’s a real shame the season cut it short AGAIN

The biggest example of the show making Lloyd seem in the right no matter what is in s4, Lloyds whole arc there was to learn how to view things from a different perspective and appreciate the things others have done for him. And this is would work if the show decided to do the same.

Again back to that scene with Lloyd and Kai in s4, the show treats Lloyd as if he’s in the right and it’s never addressed after this. Even though this is supposed to be the beginning of lloyds arc where he’s supposed to learn to view things from a different perspective

This scene would have worked if

1. The show didn’t paint him in the right for this, either by having Lloyd apologize or having the show acknowledged how it might have hurt Kai

2. If the plot Lloyd has remained a side plot instead of taking up the entire focus

Seriously, s4 could have been the ONE season where you can have a Lloyd side plot thats not forced and yet they fucked it up and made it the entire focus of the season thanks a lot.

To quote what I said in my Nya anayalsis awhile back

“I’m not upset that he has a flaw, just that it’s not recognized as one”

Lloyd would work way better as a character if the show just let him have consequences for his actions

Ever since he grew up and got the green ninja role he’s been treated like he can’t do no wrong which is clearly not true

But since we’re already on this topic

Hurting Lloyd doesn’t make him a good character

I feel like Tommy ((and sometimes the fandom)) really misunderstand what the use of suffering for in a story

There atleast 3 reasons writers make there characters suffer

1. To undergo a arc and realize where they have been wrong or to give a character a lot more depth to expand upon

2. If the story is a fallen hero one and the character suffers because of his Huberius

3. If the story is a tragedy

Ninjago is neither a fallen hero story or a tragedy and his pain doesn’t develop him as a character

A lot of writers don’t understand that suffering isn’t what makes a character good, it’s what pushes them to become good, you can’t just throw a character at the wall and expect them to instantly be a well written fleshed out character

A lot of the suffering Lloyd has to endure is mostly for no reason and it’s really mean spirited because it adds nothing to the plot, it’s just there to hurt him

Let’s bring up s11 as an example, Lloyd didn’t HAVE to fight the ice emperor from a writing standpoint, if anything it should have been kais battle because his lose of power and Zane going evil would have been a perfect reflection of s4 and tie it up after it ended kais character a bit open ended

But no let’s have Lloyd do it instead because haha isn’t trauma COOL and HIP

Now to be clear, I’m not saying that all of your stories have to end on a happy ending or anything like that, if your a writer then your allowed to do whatever you want with your personal writing

What I am saying is that ninjago is an actual SHOW made by PROFESSIONAL writers and they can’t understand the concept of a story structure

And the lack of actually addressing his trauma is really bringing down Lloyd as a character

Because it comes to a point where you understand why Lloyd is sometimes mean or distrustful of other people and it’s frustrating because you know that it’s flaws of him that are never going to be fixed because there writers want there trauma baby

How I would rewrite him

I’ve seen a lot of people suggest Lloyd become a villain in a future season and you know what, I sort of agree

But not in the way you think

I feel like it would be way more compelling if Lloyd was a villain but is still a ninja, instead of Lloyd switching sides, the show is switching perspectives

More or less I want Lloyd to be a reflection of the “true” villain, which is how wu ((and subsequently Lloyd)) put small Victories as more important then the ninjas life, passion, and desire, and how there black and white thinking of good and evil ends up to a lot of problems because there’s a lot of grey area there choosing to ignore

I want Lloyd to start of being loyal to wu’s philosophy and the protagonist, for random example let’s say Kai, sudden turn on these ideas in order to look outside the box to find if there truly is a better way to protect people without harming himself

I want Lloyd to be upset over what he thinks is a turn to the dark side when in reality, it would make his motivations make sense and not make his turn to “villainy” be out of character.

And over the course of the season he starts to realize how wus and subsequently his leadership has hurt the others and himself, and have him reflect on if all the pain they suffer through just to clean up wus mistakes is really worth it like wu says, or if there’s a better way like kai says

As for Lloyds actual character himself, I’d like for his flaws to be more noticeable

Have Lloyd be a gifted kid who gets praise when he doesn’t deserve it but still kinda acts like a brat because he’s still mentally like 10

Have him be a control freak who follows the rules way to strictly and is all serious when they have to do missions

Have his idealization of wu be realized and critiqued because honestly wu sucks ass

Would this make his character less like able? Maybe, but then he’d actually have depth and something to improve on

He can still have his s3 and s4 arcs, it’s just now they’re more important because he’s actually learning to be better

You shouldn't be here, you didn't fit in here. Well at least that's what you think, the ones that put u in this God forsaken prison seemed to think otherwise. I men sure you killed a cupel of people but they were gonna kill you first they just didn't get the chance.

Either way now you were stuck in this shit hole, not that living in the streets of Gotham were much better but at least you where free there. Here you were still the outcast you were out in Gotham, no friends and people acted like you didn't exist but that was all you had ever known so you didn't mind too much.

But then the day came, Waller walked in and apparently you were now part of a team. They all looked like idiots in your opinion well at least the ones you have meet so far, peacemaker, bloodsport and king Shark you thought their names were. Cleo you already knew of, not that u had ever talked to her,and that was it you thought until Waller backtracked to the guys wing again.

The man in front of u looked sad and if the eyes truly were the window's too one's soul, his showed everything about him at least to you. The frown on your face was probably very visible when you realized that all the information you were gonna get about this man was that they call him polkadot man. How was that fair even you had gotten more of an introduction and their really wasn't much to say.

The debriefing came and went and now you were sat between cleo and Abner krill as you learnt his name was in the helicopter. It was pretty awkward and your social awkwardness didn't help at all so you let the others handel the talking.

"so what do we do when we land?" it was Cleo asking.

"we won't land, we are gonna jump into the water. Less noise." peacemaker answered fast. One could easily tell he wanted to be the leader but had to deal with not getting his way.

Abner hadn't really talked efter telling you all his name but then again neither had you. But hearing the word swimming made that change real quick.

"whoa! whoa! Hold up nobody said anything about swimming!" you quickly stated before anyone could change subject again.

"yes, you have a problem with that?" this time it was bloodsport that answered.

"no, I just don't like getting wet." you said while looking at your hands. You didn't really want anyone of these "super villians" to know you were a bad swimmer.

You didn't get to dwell on it for too long however because in the corner of your eye you saw a small movement. You shifted so you could get a closer look at what was happening only to see Abner trying his best to hide something on his neck.

You were about to ask him if he was okay but before you could get the chance it was time to get in the water. It went surprisingly well, at least thats what you thought. You probably looked like you were in fact drowning, but at least you made it. You all made it to the shoore and went on to make camp.

You were at the back of the group on the way to your camp spot and that's when you saw it. Abner neck had a bump, that wasn't the weird thing however, nope the weird thing was that it was glowing a in your opinion quite beautiful blue.

"hey, are you okay?" you wisper to him. You didn't wanna make a big deal out of it, but something in you at least wanted to make sure he was okay.

He seemed to freeze up before a quick yes escaped his lips and he continued walking without so much as looking at you.

It may have seemed rude to others but you didn't mind. He seems like a withdrawn kind of person but so were you so you completely understood. However, much to your dismay and probably Abners too the others in your little group also noticed what had happened to Abner.

"hey! What happened to your face?" peacemaker asked seeming more concerned over himself other than Abner.

"it's just a rash" it came out fast and quiet, as if Abner were scared that if he talked louder something bad would happen.

"that's a rash?!" it was peacemaker again seemingly more self concerned then before.

Not much more was said about the subject and that seemed to please Abner. You however was curious now and hade to at least try and get him to talk to you. There was something about him that was drawing you in, something that actually made you want to get to know him be his friend. Hmm a friend now that wasn't something you had a lot of.

The campsite was not much of a campsite at all but you felt it better to keep your mouth shut. But this felt like the perfect moment to get to know Abner or anyone in this squad for that matter. However when you turn to look for Abner he was gone, probably took the first opportunity that he got to get away a bit. So you decided to see what Cloe aka ratchatcer 2 was up too.

Not before long everyone except you seemed to be sleeping. You were sitting on a log staring at the scenery when a rustel startled you. Your eyes snapped to Abners sleeping bag only to see that the bumps hade been growing and started to disform his pretty face... Wait pretty? When was that something you thought about anyone? Maybe being doomed to die did something to you.

But you didn't get to dwell on it for too long because as quickly as he hade moved he had moved on to the bushes right besides your camp. You were thinking about going after him and make sure he was okay but you didn't even get the chance to stand up before a rainbow of sorts seemed to be coming frome the bush.

Without even noticing you where sneeking closer and closer to what you assumed was Abner. You got about halfway there before he came back out looking exactly like at the prison before you left,well expect he had his undershirt on instead of his costume.

"are you okay? And I don't want you to brush it off this time." in hindsight you maybe sounded a little demanding but you didn't like death so you wanted to make sure.

"yes, I comes with my powers. It won't infect you I promise." his answer shocked you. Had nobody cared about him and just asked because they were scared? That didn't sit right with you at all.

"I wasn't asking because I was afraid, I was asking because I don't want you dead." you said that and then immediately regretted it. You didn't meen to sound so concerned and scared but in truth you were, so you guessed that was the reason.

However neither you nor Abner didn't get to think on it, because one of your team mates tried to eat another one of your team mates. The shark still scared you a bit but he seemed to agree to not eat you so it was a step in the right direction. That didn't mean you weren't taking precautions, you took your sleeping bag and moved it to where Abner was sleeping.

In the morning you were surprised to wake up to brown eyes watching you. It didn't make you uncomfortable at all, it made you feel seen and in a weird kinda way you hoped he would look at you more. But he didn't seem the kind to like eye contact.

The moment however was quickly broken by bloodsport yelling to get up and get our asses on the move. Apparently we were to find someone named Rick Flag. The camp he was being held at wasn't to far away and when you got there you weren't surprised that bloodsport and peacemaker were having some kind of killing contest.

You didn't do much because of your dislike to killing people so while they were brutally making their way through camp you quietly followed after. But you got wreckless and when you though everyone was dead you went out in the open. That was your mistake because a second later you heard guns clocking and people saying stuff you couldn't understand. You really thought this was it your last time on earth your last living moment, and your eyes went to his. At the time you didn't know why but it felt right.

His eyes weren't on you tho, no they were focused on something behind you. Before you knew what was happening he moved and stretched out his arms. Out of them came what you could only discribe as polkadots, quite beautiful if you got to say so.

You could only hear the comotion behind you and then the world was quiet again. Your eyes never left him and you could only wagly hear peacemakers comment about the polkadots. You desperately wanted to thank Abner in whatever way you could. But the moment was cut short by Abner himself.

"sorry it's so flamboyant" was all he said still not really looking at anyone.

"I think it's beautiful" you heard yourself say. You wanted to smack your hand over your mouth but the words had already left so what was the point.

Everyone else didn't really seem too care and quickly went to check on flag. And when you also started to turn around and leave, you chought his eyes again but only for a moment. You could feel your cheeks getting warm at that, damn him and his pretty eyes! But that also when you heard it, so quiet but still there.

"do you really mean that?" it was Abner, still behind you but seemingly closer.

"Of course I do, I may be the bad guy but a lier I am not." you said while turning to face him again. When you saw his face again you gave him a smal smile but a genuine one, then turned around to meet this new person you had never herd of before.
