The dots are connecting like crazy with the big bad's whole inner core crusade and also with the simultaneous demon case like I did not recognize Ao Yin as the demon Li Lun first released eight years ago but oooh do I enjoy that minor payoff.

Love the repeated use of the demonic-spell-restraining sigils now that we've been introduced to them though I wonder why the Bureau doesn't ever seem to make use of them. Maybe they don't deal with enough powerful demons to need to paint those in their own (very empty) dungeon? Or perhaps just plot convenience. (edit: someone has pointed out the Bureau indeed uses them!! I'm just blind <3)

Anyway I kind of wish in the Chongwu Camp dungeon PSJ fought a little bc she's so cool in action and their bailing was a little abrupt, but it makes sense that they'd have an immediate getaway plan. Also this is an ep 19 comment but that line Mr. 3-Face Mask delivered about PSJ being fated to always be betrayed by her little brother(s) HURT. So good.

Back to the Bureau, I do love me a good framing, and I'm also happy to get a tiny bit of the episodic demon-murder-case style back. WX was v clever to hide out in Situ Mansion, and (small detail but) I appreciate that the others catch her up on the Bai Jiu thing onscreen. As an aside, I also like that the actress for WX got to be double-casted even just briefly. Seeing some of the actors get to play around with portraying various extremes in characterization and costuming is a ton of fun.

And then yay Bai Jiu backstory at last~! It's crazy how much that blood moon fucked up everyone's lives eight years ago huh.

Everything ZYC says to him is on point (and honestly, ZYC is really quite adept at comforting others, he just sucks utter ass at it when it's his fault and he has to apologize lmaooo) but of course my favorite scene in the whole episode is as follows:

The very slight shine in the waterline, the bittersweet smile/grimace as, deliberately or not, ZYC's words indirectly echo everything about the circumstances between the two of them right now??? Whew. They did that for me specifically.

Anyway, this was a good one to chew on for me, packed with plot movement enough that I didn't feel unsatisfied with just one episode. I'm glad that so far it seems like the release schedule bears in mind what episodes should be watched in pairs for maximum effect (eps 16/17, 18/19 specifically) and which ones are okay to stand alone for the day, but I also don't want to speak too soon haha. We'll see how ep 21 fares.

Also since this is a ZYC stan account (lmao) I have some obligatory ZYC thoughts that I haven't managed to fit anywhere else. I've been meaning to comment on this for a while now and was reminded by this episode: I love the fact that ZYC actually smiles quite often. I think it's a bit surprising every time he does because he so easily fits the archetype of stoic broody action hero, but it really is just an archetype he's fit himself into, and it's never clearer than when they flash back to smiley baby!ZYC (how freely and purely he used to give those smiles away...).

On the other side of this is also how caustic and biting he can be with his words, whether sarcastically or otherwise, and how clearly his face telegraphs his emotions in general. I love that he actually emotes quite a lot and isn't cold and unaffected in the least, just pouty frowny and awkward.

The last piece to this for me is probably his age (which I very much appreciated being established super early on) and how convincingly TJR portrays him as young and inexperienced and extremely earnest. He's so sincere in everything he does that it really doesn't take much to move him, which also (imo) makes his arc less overdone.

We all know from the start what direction his development will likely go, how he'll learn he's mistaken about ZYZ and how he'll grow to have a more nuanced view of the world as he creates more bonds with others. But he's so emotional and emotionally aware that it doesn't really take much push and pull to get him there. And actually, it's not untread ground to him—he is moreso thawing, in part returning to the open-hearted nature that he had to very abruptly shutter away rather than fundamentally changing as a person. I think to me, that makes his character more compelling to watch because his cynicism about the world is perhaps the least sincere thing about him. It's entirely learned, and not by choice. Relatable.

No bc I'm so mad rn I usually post my rants on ig stories but I need the tumblrites to tell me if I'm crazy or what. Jwcc/ct spoilers WHATEVER

First of all I want to preface this by saying that this is just my opinion on the matter, I'm not saying your headcanons are "wrong" or whatever tf, it's a kids cartoon where they unironically use terms like "fam". You can play with the characters however you'd like.

That being said, this is why TO ME it does not makes sense for Ben to be anything other than gay. Again, if you think he's bi or straight or anything else that's cool. I'm also leaning towards the opinion that he does actually have a girlfriend. I don't think the shows gonna pull a 180 on it because, realistically, 2 queer characters is already a lot for a DreamWorks kids show. As much as I'd like it not to be.

But, since the beginning, Ben has been very clearly coded as exclusively into men to me. Before finally going into it, I remind everyone on here that I'm a lesbian. I have felt an affinity with his character specifically for the experience of only liking the same gender. I might be totally projecting.

Ok, so.

1. The arc Ben goes through during the show is yes, one of self discovery, but also one of self acceptance. He changes a lot from the start of s1, but he also comes to terms with stuff himself or other people didn't like about him. He doesn't throw the dork pouch away or tells Kenji to keep it, the first thing he does when he takes it back from Kenji is put on hand sanitizer. He is covered in dirt, he's not afraid of filth anymore, but he still does that action because it's part of who he is as a person. He also becomes very unashamed at the things he does. He went from being embarrassed of his carob bars to eating grubs in front of people who he knows think it's gross. He knows himself as he is and he accepts it. To me (and to lots of other people) this works very well as a gay metaphor, and pairs up pretty nicely with the whole "jungle boy? Jungle MAN" arc being a trans metaphor. But how does this make Ben uniquely into men?

Well, it doesn't. But I think this next one does.

2. Enter Yasmina. She's pretty, she's smart, athletic, funny, all that good stuff. I'm not saying that means every wlm character should automatically be into her, but it certainly helps. Now forgive me if I don't remember specific episodes/seasons, but we all remember that episode where Ben convinces himself that Yaz is in love with him for some reason. When he "rejects" her, he says : "I'm just now starting to find myself". That's cool, cause I'm pretty sure Ben's " finding himself " personality wise was over and done a couple of seasons ago. To me, that is a really good hint at him dealing with his gayness.

3. He's also the first person Yasmina talks to about her feelings for Sammy. Now, in this particular context, the options for Yaz to talk to were Darius, Brooklynn, or Ben. It would initially seem to make more sense for her to confide in Brooklynn, since the two of them are far closer than her and Ben, and it also wouldn't be the first time she brings up Sammy as a romantic interest for Yaz (see: everyone tweaking abt that one line back in like s2). So why does Yasmina, a very private and reserved person, choose Ben to talk to about her same sex crush? She has probably gathered from the previous conversation that Ben relates to her struggle in a unique way in which Brooklynn just can't. Ben seems very receptive of what Yaz is saying ("feelings, am I right?") and it seems like he REALLY gets where she's coming from.

4. This is one I don't see talked about a lot, and maybe it's just cause I'm too out of the loop with the fandom, but I want to examine it as well. It's when Ben decides to not actually stay on the island. Everyone (except Sammy) already knew he wasn't going to stay in the end, but still didn't force him out. I think this is especially clear in a line Darius says when they reunite on the boat that goes something like "you needed to figure it out on your own" *smile hand on shoulder combo*. No explanation needed I think

Read your review, right and it made me realise my mistake. I- I didn't even notice the title was all caps. Which is something I like- it's my bad theorist thing right? "SMG4: Inside Out" strikes again, they can't keep getting away with it!! something is off about that episode and the main 2 things I was able to come up with are that 4 is currently (1) Mr Puzzles' failsafe to bring back goop!4, or (2) the unintentional spy. but because of the Vanny mask, my third might come true after all, 4's mind is going to be altered. Painfully, if we're going through the Glitchtrap route. If it's exactly how it is in FNAF, then 4 would be to be emotionally vulnerable for the plan to work, at his lowest (point, wow just like Puzzles). Possibly, at the same level as he did for MAR10 Day. Or worse, surpass it.

started an impromptu rewatch of the fifth season of dw which I remember loving back in the day, and oh boy.

I knew it was ~problematique obviously but still I had managed to preserve only my favourite bits in my mind and convince myself the bad bits weren't as pervasive

haha. Ha. anyway here's a little journal of the rewatch, let's see if I continue it

the eleventh hour still has an incredible charm to it that I am not immune to. parts of it were deeply magical to me even all those years later. I remember whole sections by heart

the chemistry between 11 and Amy is both deeply exciting and incredibly tender. instant and extremely powerful.

the kissogram thing was weird to me as a little teen bc it seemed random but watching it now with many years of Moffat shows under my belt I'm like uh oh watch out here comes Steven's idea of an empowered woman!!!!!

the fact that the TARDIS dematerialises and we see her wedding dress. I still really like that. points for that

the raggedy doctor thing I think is so sweet. I love the words and I love the puppets she makes and I love the fact that she wouldn't shut up about it to everyone who would listen since she was a kid to the point where everyone around her knew. that just tells you so much about who she could have been if she'd been in a story that gave a shit about her

the beast below is shakey as a whole but I love those smiley robots, and I love the doctor and amy having a little look see and poking around the space ship. like yes they hammered home the message way too much, yes they made it all about the doctor, yes it was questionable on many levels, but still

I love the way amy talks to the little girl. when she goes, "shut up, yeah, married." and looks so panicked and like the opinion of this 12yo is gospel that tells you everything you need to know about her level of maturity. poor amy pond still such a child inside indeed. good writing. points for this one character moment

not going to comment on the 5 minute ramp up to the solve, which was just the episode remixing itself and amy going "very old. and very alone. and very kind. kind and alone and old. super old. old as balls."

the tight hug with all the stars as a background is still absolutely beautiful. the little gotcha is tender beyond belief. good doctor/amy. foundational. inspiring.

kind of bonkers crazy that matt smith was 26 years old at the time. he nails the timelessness of the doctor so effortlessly

victory of the Daleks where do I fucking start. the doctor kissing winston Churchill on the mouth and confessing his love to him every two minutes ? the near telenovela level plot twist of the robot doctor? the way that him thinking of his dead parents and all the men he saw die in the war wasnt enough to make him feel enough to stop the bomb, but thinking of a forbidden unrequited crush was? they squeezed both of Amy's main character traits dry for that one. Scottish and flirty

the episode just felt so simplistic and yet really rushed and quick and once again we had a little speech about how doctor is the most important being alive which will very soon become as integral to the show as the opening credits

tha doctor rudely shushing amy and her just taking it. never bringing it up again. those ugly black tendrils of casual misogyny and not thinking of women as people have absolutely always been there

the power ranger daleks. what a delight. I hope they sold some figurines bc that was clearly their only purpose

Some moments in season 3 of Young Royals that stand out for me ep.4

Now, when I'm sharing with you my reactions, I can see that as the season went on, I calmed, so there wasn;t as much screaming and gasping after three first episodes. But also, I made 2h of a break before watching another 2 episodes. Also, the atmosphere in a season visibly changed. So here I'm talking about ep 1 and ep 2 and here ep 3. And here is episode 4 moments that made me burst in laugh, gasped, made me forgot how to breathe or wanted to puke.

Wille quoting Kristina

I had so mixed feelings about it. I felt sorry for him, but I was also angry but also sad. It felt like arguing with my parents, and hearing them say some idioms or sayings, bc they are left out of logical arguments.

2. Jan-Olof and his advice

I waited. I knew he will say something that will make my (and SImon's) blood boil.

And he did.

3. Strike in Hillerska

As a burnt out climate activist who were arrested by police for some non-violent action, I find it hilarious to see students of Hillerska doing sitting. The whole sequence was very funny too me and my friends with pretty similar background. As we have this experience in making strikes, we have to say that it wasn't very best way of preparing strike (the was not any preparing actually). This is not how you do it haha

4. Wille joining the strike bc he won't face any consequences

Simon summed up Wilhelm here so well... And I love how Simon makes Wille hear what he's saying.

5. Getting more in Eriksson's family story

This felt like very important information, and I like we keep digging in their family dynamics. Like - he wanted to have contact with Micke! I think it hits different bc we get to know something new about characters even though the series is ending and it's so surprising and doing things to me. Young Royals creators, why are you so genious?

This conversation happening in their window spot and as i was reminding my friend that they kissed there for the first time, the music from that moment started to play.

They needed to remind me I have to breath.

But the events made me somehow hungry too. But for more talk, which didn't happened, bc Simon cut it. I mean - instead of sayin "Me too" after Wille's "I don't want to hurt you" - he could talk more about how deleting his accounts made him feel. That day was clearly difficult for him from the moment it happened...

Ep. 12 "Juggernaut" Review

This episode was certainly fast paced. I wished it was a teensy bit longer because I want more of my boys. That being said, the juggernaut sequences were absolutely fantastic. Everything from Hunter's crazy maneuvers to the TK troopers actually being competent were phenomenal. I loved seeing the crazy ride that our boys took as they raced against the Empire's forces and the lack of road. It reminded me of the tank chase in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Thankfully, both Indy and the Batch make it out (thank you Phee).

Also, shoutout to that one Steve Blum voice cameo for random imperial. He's awesome.

My discord friend and I both theorized that Rampart would return as a prisoner with information and boy, were we right. I'm just gonna say it, Rampart is hot with the scruffy look. Yes, I still hate his guts and he's still an ahole. But I have a thing for the scruffy look. This is because James Norrington was one of my crushes in Pirates of the Caribbean. I don't make the rules, ok?

Ngl, it was cool to see him return. Prison hasn't been kind to him, but it's clear he hasn't changed one bit. He might give up info out of spite, but his views on others he perceives as lesser haven't changed. I wasn't surprised when he had no clue what an Ugnaught was nor when he referred to Crosshair by his number. Unlike Kallus or Cross, who both learned from their mistakes (and obviously had honor), Rampart remains greedy. Although he offers information, he could sell the Batch out in exchange for freedom. We'll see how well that goes. Crosshair was right to be wary.

Side note: seeing Rampart being thrown around like luggage when he was stunned was hilarious. He deserved it though.

Speaking of Cross, his snark was golden. You tell them Cross. Snark aside, Crosshair is not ok. Even mentioning Tantiss is a trigger for him. He doesn't want to go back nor think about anything related to the place. But we all know he will because Omega needs him. She saved his life and he loves her dearly. But I'm glad Hunter and Wrecker didn't hold it against him. Although, I wished we got more dialogue on that whole situation. At least both of his brothers know that Cross didn't hand her over willingly or what not. And Cross trusts that Omega's choice wasn't without reason. Also, Cross' theme kicks in after his hand starts trembling and he needs a hug. He's been through so much.

The interaction with Phee was also really sweet. Crosshair finally got to hear the iconic "Brown Eyes." And the fact that Tech clearly talked about Crosshair in a positive light to Phee makes my heart melt. Tech doesn't know how much Crosshair has changed, but that love he had for him never went away. I am in tears. I also have no doubt that Tech would be impressed with Phee's stealthy drop off of the boys.

Something else I enjoyed was seeing the brothers work together like to good ol' days. It really reminded me of the earlier seasons and CW and just how much I missed it. Season 3 has been so heavy and dark that moments like these make me happy. Cross and Wrecker using battle plans while Hunter drives was so much fun to watch.

And then there's Hemlock. I can't wait for him to fall off Tantiss and die. He's so creepy and gross. I cringe whenever I see his stupid face. The way he showed Omega the children and was like "this is your new home" just made me want to hate him more.

And Emerie! She feels so trapped between her duties and affection for Omega. But she will choose a side in the end and I have a feeling it'll be Omega. My theory is that Omega will encourage her to help her and the children escape. Emerie will provide assistance and probably be killed by Hemlock.

someone please tell me how Echo is doing off screen. I love you sweet Echo; just stay off screen and you'll be safe. but also come back bc i miss your presence

how cartman movitvated kyle in s20

something i realized while i was making my s20 kyman compilation was how when kyle found out cartman & heidi were together he completely stopped giving a shit about trying to stop the troll bc he only cared when he thought it was cartman, which i’ve talked about a million times already LOL. but also it wasn’t until cartman smacked some sense into kyle about how much he changed and how pulling his wiener out in the cafeteria to harass the girls is NOT who he is, that kyle finally made an effort to stop the trolling again. that’s when he put the pieces together and figured out it was gerald finally like an episode or two later & did all that shit to try to save the day. i feel like this goes hand in hand with that rant i did abt how kyle NEEDS cartman in his life or else he does crazy selfish shit like blowing up canada LOL. it was sooo clear in s20 that when heidi was with cartman and kyle was all alone bc he didn’t have cartman around him for support whenever he wanted that he basically just turned into a selfish dick and sided with butters’ wieners out group even tho he CLAIMED he was against it and wanted to stop it. what that tells me is he needs cartman in his life bc having cartman as a friend helps remind him who the fuck he is, how the most important thing to kyle is to dO tHe rHiGht tHinG bc kyle wants to side with morality soooo badly. there are A LOT of moments where he loses sight of that goal and does shit that’s extremely hypocritical and selfish, but i feel like overall at heart kyle still wants to be good and help others. so that moment rlly stands out to me bc it shows how cartman is actually VERY encouraging with helping & supporting kyle be the sanctimonious prick he wants to be, even tho cartman acts like he HATES kyle for that in other episodes. but that’s bs bc i feel like cartman secretly looks up to kyle for all those things and views kyle as a good example or role model for how to care abt others and dO tHe rHiGht thiNg since that can be hard for him sometimes as a heartless sociopath LOL. everyone acts like if kyle was with cartman, cartman would just corrupt him and turn him into a big toxic asshole, but that moment rlly shows the exact OPPOSITE. when he DOESN’T have cartman, he stops caring abt everything he stands for and does shit that goes against his beliefs. cartman motivates kyle to stand with the side of good, and i feel like the only reason why kyle changed as a character and took on that whole morality schtick when he used to be a menace was bc of cartman and how motivated he was to stop cartman.

I miss nature (Love Sea ep 4&5 thoughts)

I was planning on doing a post for each episode, but I was busy. Or maybe I subconsciously don't want to leave the island so I put it off and by the time I sat down to do write a post, a whole week passed. Who knows??????? LMAO

Title. i miss the island setting. which is crazy because i personally am NOT a nature person lol i prefer the city. but this is a drama and it's called LOVE SEA so like.... WHERE'S THE SEA. the only sea we're getting in the bangkok portion of this story is a sea of tears.

shoutout to the candid shots of the island. i thought that was a nice extra touch. also this scene!!! PLEASE someone give fp a royal setting or something. my god

onto the city, WHOSE HOUSE IS THIS FR. FORT IS A TALL BOY HOW ARE YOU GONNA OPEN ANYTHING WITHOUT A LADDER IF YOU'RE NOT AS TALL AS HIM!!!!!!!!!!!

i think the best part of ep 4 is seeing fort in that white tee. the gears in my head r turning at max speed. why does he fill that out so well. jesus.

how much is mook getting paid? she puts up with so much LMAO like the check must be sooo big and her loyalty to rak must be soo solid.

now for the most hurtful part of this ep, rak telling mut he doesn't believe in love and that there will never be anything more than sex between them. peat's line delivery was Good and effective. it stung as the audience just hearing it. and the way mut's face fell and rak's eyes start shifting afterwards?? he himself knew what he said hurt. but mut still wasn't deterred and at this point, i'm sure he has a good grasp on rak's general mindset.

my favorite part of ep 4, the kitchen scene at the end. them teasing each other, mut feeding rak. it was soo soft. and rak's pouty cat stare (sooo cuuute) and peat's legs! we cannot go an ep without em.

pausing between the 2 eps to gush about fortpeat for a second. why do they make domestic scenes look so good. or am i just biased (probably). the puppycat energy is SO strong with these two. i kinda want to see them play characters that are Completely opposite of themselves. i know they'd still eat their roles. it'd just be crazy to think about.

ANYWAYS, ep 5 ↓

the restaurant scene was so real. are we not allowed to call food by their names anymore. must we order a piggly wiggly mega crunch. i truly do get it. and the shopping scene afterwards???

mut telling him he wants to take care of his life. HOW CAN ANYONE WATCHING THIS NOT BE IN LOVE WITH MUT AT THIS POINT!!!!!!!!!

switching to the girls, aya did SO well in this part. the conflict, the hurt. i see it all!!! but how does mook even know if vi doesn't like women! girl believe in it!!

does prin remind anyone of stop from LITA??? like the goofy ass ego and behavior is so similar to me. wym she came all this way just to hurl verbal jabs at her cousin?? HELP. also i KNOW this is like a stand off between rak and prin, but they're both slaying so hard in the visual department. HAIR, MAKEUP, FIT! and for some reason the bgm is going so hard and for why LMAOOOO what is this music!!

and rak puts on a front like prin's words don't matter much to him, but they obviously hurt a LOT from rak's reaction to it afterwards. him telling mut to get out and leave him alone to deal with his emotions by himself!! and then seeing the food mut left for him. someone's caring for him!!! he's not alone!! and the best AND worst part is seeing rak cry into the food. my god. as someone who's been there more than once, that scene hit soo hard.

NOW THAT PART IN THE FITTING ROOM.... MUTRAK ARE SO HORNY YALL that's nawt even a door it's a flimsy curtain!!!!! i'm not mad about them wanting to bang in the fitting room btw.. im mad they got interrupted :( we could've had a whole keep your voice down kinda nc scene with so much kissing and biting smh

fort has said before they had to rework their first kiss scene bc they hadn't kissed in a while. seeing that they filmed the city portion before the island, i feel like this was the first kiss he was talking about? idk someone can correct me if im wrong. i'm simply guessing.

anyways. enough of this rambling. the ending credits of ep 5 is soo cute and my favorite so far. i can't wait for khom next week!! more characters!!!

IS LINK CLICK GOOD AGAIN WAS RHE FINAL GOOD

okay god so. this is complicated. i'm keeping this spoiler free lol, but i wrote an essay so if you dont wanna read that tldr this season wasn't good and this episode retains those overall issues but left me with enough intrique that im still invested if incredibly cautious and heavily jaded

i have suchhhh mixed feelings on this final episode and on season 2 as a whole. having slept on it and letting the euphoria wear off a bit, the episode as a whole was like. fine. it was emblematic of a lot of the issues ive had with the whole season so far. i think the pacing wasnt great, i think we spent way too long on flashbacks, and oh my god the fight scenes were far far too long (looking at one in particular like i did not care about those characters or their relationship). but the ending of the episode, at least in the moment, made me forget all about that and all about the problems with the whole season. it focused back on the main trio, and we saw interactions between them that made me remember why i love these characters and why i loved season 1. and there was a reveal at the end that, when watching, made me quite frankly go absolutely ape shit insane and feel like i was dying so. lol

but again, sleeping on it, while the end of the episode was a reminder of what i loved, it feels a bit hollow when placed in the context of the rest of the season. i think of how crazy the reveal was last night for me, but then i wonder how much more intense and meaningful it wouldve been had we actually spent the last 12 episodes exploring these characters instead of speedrunning a plot that nobody really cared about. in that way, it almost feels a bit insulting? that's kind of harsh, but idk how else to put it lol. like they had this great idea and strung us along with the bare minimum while making some of the worst writing decisions ive ever seen, and then finally at the end are like "hey! remember this thing! remember! arent we smart and clever and good writers!" and its just. sigh.

i think about what we couldve had had we spent this season with lu guang and cheng xiaoshi. if we had been shown them interacting more than maybe two times this season. if we had spent less time on fight scenes and cops and murder drama and actually spent time on the characters that i watched season 1 for. this season feels like something that shouldve been a film or half a season, if it even really needed to exist at all. it feels like they were twiddling their thumbs for twelve episodes because they just wanted to set up li tianchen and the big reveal at the end. and in that way its a huge disappointment, and a bit of an insult. they made me watch twelve episodes of something that feels like they barely thought about just so they could move on to their greater plot in the last five minutes of the season. this whole season feels like it was a stepping stone, a minor or transitory plot point in a greater story, which is a little iffy considering we all waited for two years just for something that felt like it barely mattered.

all in all, this season in general has just left a bad taste in my mouth. the conflict arises bc what they do get right makes me want to keep watching. i care about lu guang and cheng xiaoshi and qiao ling, like a lot. and with the reveal they did last night i want to see what's happening and there's a part of me that feels vindicated for being right about certain plot elements. am i falling for a shitty carrot on a stick? yeah, kinda, and that feels a little gross. i'll watch season 3 when it comes out and we'll see from there. i want to believe they'll turn it around and maybe now that they've gotten all this plot bullshit out of the way they'll refocus on cheng xiaoshi and lu guang, and maybe then we can all look back on this season and laugh and say "oh yeah that season sucks lol but the rest of it is so good so we just ignore it." at this point that's kind of best case scenario. which isn't a glowing review but play stupid games win stupid prizes i guess

when they mutiny against jack in the s1 finale. that whole bit, from gwen with rhys’ body in the autopsy bay to owen shooting jack to when they trigger the emergency protocol and open the rift. ill never get over how it first felt to watch that whole scene for the first time, it drove me insane. it still drives me insane. ive watched it 300 times it's sooo 😩 MY scene. g-d.

well, that’s my scene, and so are all the owen & ianto scenes in s1ep12. those two make me feral. ive gushed about theose scenes before, so ill spare u this time. my otp 4eva. and also owen having a villainous breakdown wahahaha. my fucked up little guy of all time

the scene where owen’s patching gwen up in countrycide drives me nuts. it’s such a clever seduction scene + it’s so intimate. i love it. (i also enjoy the two separate scenes where she chokes him fdhskjfdsf. countrycide tree scene makes me BLUSH and nothing makes me blush fsdkjfdshfkjdshfjkd. i am very very bi <3)

owen begging diane to stay in out of time... don’t touch me. every time i think of that whole scene i wanna cry. i have never seen such sad eyes in my life. (see my tags here for more of my thoughts on this topic fkjsdfhs.) burn pay my fucking hospital bills

that moment between jack and owen at the end of combat... “for a few seconds i felt totally at peace... and then you blunder in. do you always know best, jack? is that what you believe?” “i want you back at work tomorrow.” that scene has always driven me crazy. there’s a few scenes in the show where jack’s monstrous and the others yell at him over it, but that one hits the hardest. owen just seems to actually cut through him in that moment, and it kills me.

the scene at the conference table in s2ep5. i’m not the biggest fan of that ep, i talked abt it more the other day, but that scene drives me bonkers, for a number of reasons… the insight into the characters (owens mommy issues!!! tosh n ianto’s need for purpose!!! gwen loves rhys AND jack!!!), for sure, but especially the way jack’s relationship with all of them is presented. ill talk about it a lot more when i discuss his character, but jack… reminds me of a cult leader, in a lot of ways, and it’s most prominent in that scene especially. the show doesn’t realize it’s framing him like that, and the fandom doesn’t seem to pick up on it either. but i do, and i think it’s fascinating. 

gwen drugging rhys in combat. it just kind of blew my mind when i first saw it - there's a moment with every character where i went “oh wtf theyre fucked up. ok im obsessed now” (owen's was ghost machine, ianto's was actually ‘pray they survive’ in meat, jack & tosh never had one for me which is probs why they dont rot my brain quite as much fhdskjf) - that was gwen's. also important to note burn gorman agrees w me bc on the commentary of this ep during this scene he was clapping n laughing n probably kickin his feet HFDKSJFHDSJKFDSK he gets me

all of fragments tbh esp owens portion but specifically ianto crying when he walks away from jack at the end of his segment, and owen crying when he's talking to the doctor + him n jack walking thru the cemetery. aaaa.

scenes that make me smile

the very first scene in the hub in the pilot :) it just feels a little bit magical in an industrial, bleak, kitchen-sink sort of way, which is what i love sm abt tw, the way it occasionally strikes that balance. the way stepping into a big base in a sewer manages to still feel magical… that’s special.

in episode 2 when theyre having lunch + in episode 4 when theyre at the bar, when they’re all gathered around and laughing. ohh i wish we got more of that

every time gwen n owen are dumbass giggling besties, or teasing each other… twice in s2ep10, and in ep 7, and then when theyre fooling around at the beginning of s2ep2. i love themmmm those two are my idiots they make me smile

in ghost machine, when gwen holds the device and sees herself crying and covered in blood, and afterwards she’s all dazed and she looks at owen and he stares back and he looks dangerous. i loveee that scene. will never get over s1 owen. he’s a ticking time bomb and when he explodes he nearly destroys the world. character of all time to me. i love that he redeems himself in the end but ohhhhh sometimes i think of a world where he becomes a proper antagonist. he rlly walks the precipice 

g-d and the scene where he had the knife held to ed morgan, when i first watched it i didn’t know what he was gonna do and it was so tense. 

when lisa was first revealed in cyberwoman and mogwai played…. transcendent. the outfit was silly right off the bat but the vibe + reveal was cool enough i was rlly excited. i love the concepts in that episode i wish they took it more seriously. no metal bikini + no pteradacyl fight and we could’ve had it all. but also. would it be torchwood without metal bikini + pteradacyl fight.

“it made me happy” scene in countrycide. a lot of people seem to find that ep upsetting, i wasn’t really affected by the subject matter, but That got me. chilling. you go into torchwood expecting evil aliens, so the episodes about evil humans really hit.

the resurrection scene in s2ep7. i’m getting tired so im not gonna babble as much but agh. i wanna eventually do an analysis on owen & jack’s dynamic - i’ll talk about it there.

also, it’s a little moment but in the same episode, when gwen calls rhys crying… it reminds me of that bit in succession, during connor’s wedding, when tom calls greg, which is one of my favorite moments in that episode too. taking the time in the middle of a tragedy to step aside and privately call a loved one for support, bc u need a minute to break down when uve been doing ur best to stay strong. i think torchwood is bad at handling grief and letting their characters experience it, so it’s a nice little moment that actually lets her grieve. that, and the glove clearly triggers her, so she got double whammied with the death of a friend + the reminder of the time she nearly died. again, in a show that doesn’t typically frame moments of weakness and pain very sympathetically, it’s refreshing. 

idk why, but in ep7, when it goes back and forth between owen figuring out the murders + tosh crying to mary while she looks unsympathetically down at her… it’s just a well-filmed, cool scene, and i enjoy it. thrills me, heh. also owen adhd icon

aditd... maggie’s wedding… we’d been married less than an hour. scenes that got me. i think of maggie a lot. i think of that scene a lot. i think ‘the woman on the roof’ is my most listened to torchwood ost track, fff. it’s very special to me. that song reminds me of a thomas newman score.

tosh n owen’s deaths. of course. both of owens deaths actually, the second one is more impactful but the way nobody held him when he first died bc they were all in shock haunts me ;-;

e5: -it feels bittersweet bc the whole shitshows with mclaren & force india feel like we're stepping in at the end of a narrative. this would've been so much more compelling if we'd had a few seasons before this one to rly set the stage before shit hits the fan -we dont get estie focused episodes a lot so its nice to see again! -back 2 my first point i truly think. if either dts started earlier or this force india drama was dragged out a bit longer, vijay rly could've been gunther steiner levels of good tv. hope the alternate universe where that happened appreciates what they have -seeing ppl who become much bigger characters years later, just like in the background is CRAZY (esp otmar and andrea stella) -makes me rly look forward to watch the full 2018 season someday bc this silverstone race looks wild -love this pre marriage/divorce estie & nando battle. if they only knew -its truly unbelievable to me that haas used to be this high in the standings. how did they fuck it all away -god otmar had to drop the oscar nando/oscar news last year AND the force india got sold news in 2018?? this guy has been delievering Ls longer than i thought

e6: -i've posted abt this before but i really do think everyone needs to be reminded that you can criticize the financial priveledge that lance stroll had in the sport without personally attacking the guy and his talent. especially compared side by side to esteban here. 'lance's dad just loves him 🥺' ok and so does estebans but only one has the power to break the game to give his son an advantage we're allowed to be critical of that -AGAIN if we could've had dts a year earlier the checo v estie coverage would've been DELICIOUS. anyway #teamestie4life -'he's gonna have a child, i don't know if he wants to die or something.' bring back esteban no holds barred. iconic.
