hi that was me talking about more possible transformations! Fae transformation would be so fun imma be so real
OMG HIII yes it so would. on my knees. though i guess theres a lot of interpretations. i have a feeling that dol would go with the tiny pixie archetype and have you be smaller than normal. could also help explain why PC never noticed them before. maybe you need to get to know the plantpeople first -> notice the fairies in the forest. idk. ooh what about leaving them gifts or pissing them off leading to temporary blessing/curse status effects. and you can kind of do that when other people cross you or if you want to be kind to them. like a mini angel/demon okay hm that might be a bit much.
itd definitely get tending and housekeeping bonuses tho. and flying/gliding of course.
and most importantly of all we get fairy wings!!!!!!!!!!
#replies#divineonealear#ask#i really like fairies sorry.#though i dont claim to be very knowledgeable#its not really part of my area's traditional folklore#its just that. um. well. you know. um. i watched barbie a lot growing up so yyou kn#dol

on the creation of animus magic

i was talking about the origins of animus magic with my discord recently and it made me want to share it here–
mind you, this is something that i had initially come up with around fourth or fifth grade, so it doesn't 100% comply with current canon and its a little shoddy but regardless i need to get it out of my system haha
waay way back in 2019 or so, i came up with a sort of 'origin story' that the dragons of pyrrhia told that explained where animus magic came from.
they believed that a sort of higher dragon spirit that was of simultaneously all and none of the tribes (my interpretation of them is the drawing at the beginning of this post) created the seven dragon tribes, and upon creating them, offered each tribe the power of animus magic.
both the rainwings and mudwings refused. the rainwings believed that such power would create an imbalance of harmony in the rainforest, and thus did not accept. the mudwings believed that if animus magic was wielded by a sib that wasn't a bigwings, then they might use it to overthrow the balanced system, and if a bigwings hatched with magic, then they might use it to steer their sibs in the wrong direction (again, imbalance and disruption of harmony).
the icewings, however, accepted the gift of animus magic, believing that with proper control and tradition, they could harness its power without falling to corruption. the icewings then offered this gift to the seawings, who accepted it.
the sandwings accepted the gift of animus magic from the high dragon spirit as well.
the skywings were very hesitant from the beginning. even though it was offered to them, they never gave a clear answer; many skywings believed that their raw power and physical might were enough to best the other tribes, and that animus magic was a shortcut that undermined their strength. still, because they did not explicitly deny, they still received magic– though it was quickly stamped out.
the nightwings, on the other hand, were not as patient as the other tribes. their thirst for knowledge and power was unquenched, and they sought to claim animus magic before it was even offered to them. they attempted to steal the magic directly from the claws of the high dragon spirit. it saw the actions of the nightwings as dishonorable, and as a result, they were left to pursue other forms of power— namely prophecy and mind-reading.
some dragons believe this origin story to heart, and they passed it down through generations as the definitive truth of where animus magic came from and why certain tribes have it while others dont. others, however, view the story as more metaphorical– to them, the higher dragon spirit and the tale of the tribes’ choices are more like allegories that are meant to teach younger dragonets a lesson about not being greedy or something idk.
anyhow this might be stupid or it might be revolutionary but if you guys like it then i might make some art related to this 'au' :)

Bro what happened in the nevercord?? I am not a part of it but still curious
EDIT: please look at @thelesbomancer ‘s post/reblog, and @gothwineaunts ‘s post about this situation!
please defer to your own judgment when it comes to this, and don’t use my post as the end all be all! Those two posts have much more information on all of this! This post was made as this all unfolded and might be out of date (also turning off reblogs because i’m not an authority on this )
i'm gonna be careful not to name any names here because I don't want to start a hate train and I'm looking at all of this as neutral as possible and also please please please don't think of this like a call-out post or anything, it's not! I still think you can be a fan of rnf and support their work, this is just why I'm chosing to take a break from doing so!
Content Warning below for mentions of explicit content being sent to minors ( by a server member, not RnF, THANK GOD )
i don't have all the details but basically, someone was banned for sending heavy nsfw/pornographic images to minors, and then was unbanned later on because of two reasons
one: the children the images were sent too were banned from nevercord for varying reasons ( closest explanation I remember is about these kids doing witchhunts, whatever that means )
two: the evidence was apparently "unreliable" and heavily censored.
Also, the minors themselves didn't report this information, an adult did with screenshots, censoring the users of the kids.
The offending person claimed that they never knew the ages of the people talking to them and thought they were all adults, even though at least two victims from my knowledge have come forward and said the person did, in fact know their ages. The only age I've heard for sure was 12 years old.
My problem with the situation arised was when Red, the writer of Nevermore, posted a lengthy explanation that was pretty poorly worded. She used phrases about the situation, such as "egged on" or "cried wolf" about being sent this sexual content, saying it was the job of minors to stay safe on the internet. I was raising my eyebrow at that point, because the whole thing sounded rather victim-blamey.
Red then said that the evidence was faulty and suspicious for being heavily censored ( i don't know the full extent of the censoring ), and because of the fact it came from one person, an adult who was friends with some of the people who had been banned, implied reporting that behavior was all some sort of tatic to get one person they didn't like banned.
When a ton of people were (understandably, in my opinion) very upset by this response, including the victims, and other neutral parties, Red got very upset and started lashing out. I understand It had to be a stressful situation, having tons of people talking at you at once, but she started saying rather guilt tripping things, such as "I'm a horrible person then" "everything I do is actually for evil purposes", stuff along those lines. Admittedly, the situation was pretty upsetting to me, so once Red started saying those things I left. I might return to Nevermore one day, if there's signs of change and the like. I still deeply enjoy the comic, and the community! I don't think RnF are horrible people, I just think they worded this very poorly, and then continued to lash out when it didn't go as excepted lmao I'll grab some of the screenshots I took, and ask if my friends have any to add! If anyone else has anything to add about the situation, please do so in the notes or reblogs! I'm just saying my perspective here, and why I chose to leave! There might have been things I missed! screenshots below!
anyways, those are all the screenshots i have on haha, again for the millionth time I dont want this to become a massive big drama

Courage and how he feels about The Chain
And vice versa
~~~~~~~~~
I made these on a whim, theres more i wanna go into detail with but everytime i see someone mention courage with the others it feels off. As someone obsessed with the games n show ever since i was 6 i had to post my own spin on thing.
~~~~~~~~~
Time:
Courage is a little intimidated by Time, hes sorta the first person that hes ever seen so gritty and wirn down from experience. Courage definetly respects Time, enough to try his hardest to not complain or show his outward reluctance to do what he considers "chores". Hed feel the need to prove himself to Time, and because of that Time often has to talk him down from being a reckless idiot.
Time sees courage as a strange outlier, hes like hyrule yet not as adept almost. Looking at courage makes him wonder if this is what Hyrule would become in some sort of way, but at the same time since the two are so different hes unsure. Seeing courage push himself so much worries him, but he only ever lectures him if he endagers himself.
~~~~~~~~~
Wars:
Their relationship is weird, on friendly terms one moment then being competative the next. Courage sees him as sorta of competition, seeing as hes a guy who keeps trying to flirt with any girl he saves -- wars being just as charming but possibly successfully so bug him. He also never appreciates it when wars tries lecturing or giving pointers on how to be a knight. He doesnt see himself as one, despite the fact that unlike hyrule he was knighted. Courage refuses the title. The most these two bond over is over women, talking about the ladies they remember meeting, and maybe gossiping about the others in the chain.
Above all else though, courage refuses to tell wars about the time he accidentally kissed a monster disguised as a lady and got turned into a frog.
~~~~~~~~~
Twilight:
Courage himself feels a lot of envy but also admires twilight at the same time. Seeing as twilight is the strongest physically, no enhancements, he likes to challange him a lot. Even if he losses every time he gets a sort of pride seeing as hes the only one to come closer to being as strong as twilight. The two also bond heavily over simpler lives, not as much as say wild, or hyrule, but they still show a fondness over missing it with each other.
Twilight likes to always check up on courage just in case, he can see he works himself hard a lot. He feels bad that courage seems to cobstantly compare himself to the others, he sees a lot of the people in his past, even himself, in courage because of it.
~~~~~~~~~
Sky:
Its strange for sure, they dont quiet know how to feel with each other. Courage is very curious over sky namely with how fondly he talks about his zelda. It makes him look back on his relationship with wisdom [courages' zelda] a lot. Sometimes he musters the confidence to ask sky what he should do if he sees her again, but at the end of the conversation just brushes his own worries away.
Sky feels bad for courage due to how he describes his strange feelings towards wisdom. He diesnt know how to go aboit it though and opts to just give reassurance and advice. He doesnt exactly like how forwards courage can be but courage is a very blunt forwards guy in general, so its hard to say anything.
~~~~~~~~~
Four:
They dont talk much, courage feels confused by four namely because he has so much knowledge despite seemingly being a kid. He does get ideas quiet often, seeing as he always picks up whatever weapons his enemies drop he likes to give them to four to see if maybe he could do something with them. He gets bummed when four says no and often questions why hes giving a bow to a blacksmith but four always humors him saying he'll try looking at it.
Four doesn't like courages sass snark and ego but he does appreciate how courage comes up to him a lot asking about his skills. He still gets chills of disgust remembering the sword gave to him once. The flimsy weak one courage claims he got for free having been scammed. Four just tries his hardest to make sure courage doesnt get that sort of dissappintment again. He takes pride in his work, so seeing courage get excited with his now modified weapons makes him happy.
~~~~~~~~~
Legend:
Despite the fact that he's another Link from the failure timeline, Courage probably has a tense relationship with Legend. They bicker sometimes, mostly because Courage would like to assume he has a bit more experience especially in a rougher almost primitive feeling version of hyrule. Legend himself would get tired and annoyed over any complaints he said, or ego he showed.
However, there are a few sparks of friendship between them from time to time, namely, with hoarding. Courage wouldn't dare touch legends things, and vice versa, but in terms of finding new things, it's sorta competative in a friendly way. While Courage is jealous of the huge house legend has where he can keep and display his items without getting hounded on. Legend is jealous seeing courages basically bottomeless pouch where he can keep and take everything with him, no restraints.
~~~~~~~~~
Hyrule:
Seeing as he's not just another failure timeline link but also a variation of Hyrule, Courage actually sees him in a very fond admirable light. Courage feels like Hyrule is a sorta long-lost brother. They'd both probably talk in detail over their adventures and what it was like for the two of them.
There would be some slight moments of embaressment on Hyrules end, most due to how Courage behaves and carries himself. Despite the fact that Hyrule would come off as looking younger compared to Courage, he would take the time to coach and sorta lecture him on how to fully behave. Courage probably feels like hes being talked to Spryte cus of it, not knowing Hyrule himsslf is half fairy.
~~~~~~~~~
Wild:
They wont stop talking about their adventures, let alone what it was like starting out. Courage always complained about the clean home body life he was living while protecting the triforce. So when swapping stories, and hearing wild talk about what his adventures were lkke he was obsessed. The two fawn and get excited hearing about how rough and dirty they got into their respective adventures.
Wild sees courage as a sorta brother in arms for sure, he doesnt remember much about his fellow knights, the memories of the champions stuck with him more clearly. But talking with courage feels like them simpler days, before he even drew the master sword or before the calamity war. Just sitting and talking with the others he trained with. Seeing another person who can use just about anything as a weapon as well comforts him a bit.
~~~~~~~~~
Wind:
Courage gets worried for wind a lot, not just because he's a kid but because he knows so much despite being a clear kid. With four, yes, he's short, but he definitely doesn't act like a kid, wind however clearly does. Hearing about winds adventures always gives him a pit in his stomach, especially when he describes his ganon. Sure, every itteration of ganon when describes confuses him. He's so used to his, and how admittedly stupid he seems. But hearing wind talk about his hurts.
He likes to try an uplift wind, have fun and make games out of everything they do just to go the extra mile to keep that childlike spirit going. Doesnt want wind to miss out on being a kid entirely. He loves playing the part of a "wise courageous hero", whispering advice to him sneakily.
Wind himself enjoys courage, find him pretty stupid for sure but loves the fact that someones going far to make sure hes safe and has fun once in a while. A part of him somewhat sees linebeck in courage. It causes him to automatically feel a sorta brotherly connection to his old friend, one he didnt see after the adventure was over.

are we in the mood for more lore discussion tonight? no? i dont care!
part of why clancy is so important is that he’s a revolutionary. no one has ever done things quite like him—no one has escaped as many times, no one has resisted smearing the way he can, no one has attracted the same bishop attention, and no one has ever been used as a voice by the bishops. the narrative is meant to show us that clancy is different well before we find out he is an exception.
i hear people call him an unreliable narrator, and he is, but not for the reasons people say. i hear it most often for claiming that he has always been clancy, and we have discussed at length why that isn’t true in these posts. no, he’s unreliable simply due to his limited knowledge of the world around him, and moreso because of his view of himself.
clancy isn’t just some random citizen who stumbled upon the power to seize, even though he thinks of himself as such for so long. he’s always been an exception, and we know this because of the aforementioned reasons. he has a stronger escape drive than anyone we hear about from the fpe letters, he’s able to remember parts of trench despite being smeared, and the bishops take special notice of him. he has two on his tail all the time, and the way he describes keons in comparison to the other bishops makes it sound like they are very distant from their districts. nico in particular is stated as never even being at clancy’s writing sessions during sai, so if he didn’t appear at those, i would imagine he is not directly involved with the citizens of his district if they fall in line out of fear of him. we know the bishops know about clancy being an exception for two reasons: they seize him while he is very much alive, and keons knew to send him to voldsøy. they obviously wouldn’t tell clancy about this, since the fact that he can seize is the key to taking them down (something he openly acknowledges once gaining the ability).
but we know clancy doesn’t view himself through this lens for much of the story, something i’ve touched on before. when seeing himself in trench, he thinks of the person he sees as strong, brave, fearless, “unaffected by the fear of the unknown - the fear that tends to cripple me. to him, the terrain seemed familiar, as if he had been out here before,” to directly quote his journal. as well as:
“I had no idea that I was known outside of my cell, but they informed me that I had garnered notoriety for my schemes and outbursts.”
(from his journal on voldsøy)
“Many lost their lives in the attack, and I was thrashed through the bitter cold waves, yet somehow survived. Did this icy cold preserve me? Why was I spared? I am still so cold as I write.”
(from the same entry)
“This is absurd.
Why was this given to me? Why am I the only one that can wield it? Was this the reason that I survived?”
(from his second entry on voldsøy)
it’s not until he gains community again in the torchbearer and the banditos that his view begins to change.
“This small eerie island has made me a weapon. We both believe that we can use it to change the momentum of this war.”
(from the second voldsøy entry)
“I can reach them all. I can recruit everyone with eyes that see beyond the horizon. I can teach them. They can learn what I've learned, and fly by all of the constructs Dema has placed in front of them. We will take it back.”
(from a post voldsøy, pre clancy entry)
“I'm not as scared as a I used to be. Their mystery begins to fade as a method to defeat them becomes more clear. I no longer feel powerless. I can outsmart them. This new power of psychokinesis worked, and I believe it can work again. I stand here, looking down at the line where the water meets the sand - a starting line. All the while, knowing there is a finish Iine across the Strait. Their compass lies, but mine remains true. I've left embers of inspiration, I only hope whatever spark was left has grown to a torch, and together we create an inferno.”
(a whole entry, after the last one i quoted)
he’s gaining confidence as he grows and learns, something crucial to his victory. he’s no more unreliable than any other first person narrator. at first, he views himself as just another citizen, but wonders if he is the only one aware of dema’s corruption. his journey leads him to understanding his place in everything, and accepting as well as claiming his identity and his position as rebellion leader.
he has a character arc, is my thesis, because he’s the main character. it takes away from his journey to claim he wasn’t the clancy we see at the beginning of the story through his journals. because if he isn’t, what insight do we even have into his character pre-sai? we would have nothing, no basis for this character who now takes center stage. the journals serve as supplemental to the videos, but they have never been meant to be taken separately. they are each providing pieces of the same story about the same character.
the journals show us clancy’s inner thoughts, while the videos show us his actions and story events. without them, we would have no idea how truly conflicted he feels about dema, his deep love for trench, and his compassion for the citizens still suffering. if you view tyler as separate from clancy, you can only take the videos and sai/clancy era entries as his story, and you lose that crucial motivation for everything he does.
furthermore, clancy would continue haunting the narrative if he were simply killed on the side. he’d be everywhere, his legacy would hang over everything if tyler was meant to carry on his name and purpose. but he doesn’t, because clancy is still very much active in the story. to forego him entirely after taking his name would be incredibly weak storytelling on (irl) tyler’s part.
i understand the appeal in a character that represents lost potential, but the lost potential is represented by the glorious gone, and i beg you not to forget their significance. clancy’s importance stems from how this is the first time this has happened. there has never been another exception, there has never been another rebellion leader from dema itself. as i’ve said before and will continue to say, he serves as the unifier between every other party in the story, something that has never been seen until him.
im sorry. every single song (post) is about you (why tyler and clancy are the same)

Okay! So I have very limited knowledge and I’m so very sorry if this is wrong, please correct me! But I’ve seen at some weddings (idk if it’s culture or religion?) the bride has the most absolutely stunning henna and I was just thinking cute moment in with gaz where he’s looking at the design and he’s looking for his initials (or is it name? I dont remember) and finding just a bunch of little parts of him and your relationship worked into the design 🥺 maybe snuck in a little hat somewhere to tease him?
(Thought inspired by my friends sister who got married recently! I wasn’t able to go to the wedding but she showed me pictures of the henna after and told me a little bit about it and I fell in love! I haven’t been able to do the research I want to on it, but honestly henna is so stunning and I want to learn how to do it)
I LOVE HENNAAAAAA
Obviously, i cant do tattoos so i cope with re-applyinh black henna every few weeks lmao- i have some kind of 'tattoo' of a simple rose just coz, cant show it tho ;)
I think people also open henna tattoo parlor nowadays(?) saw it on tiktok once
It's more of a culture thing from middle east or south asia. Though some muslims here also used it sometimes.. even tho it has nothing to do with the religion sksksk
It's usually flower pattern or cultural symbol. But nowadays, people are more creative and draw anything with it- so yes, we could add a little Gaz thing to the design 🙂↕️🙂↕️🙂↕️
And congrats to your friends sister!!!
It aint me if there's no horny thought. So like- what if his initial is on your inner thigh or something 👁️👁️ he'd see it for the first time when he could finally claim you properly, peeling every pieces of clothing slowly because he wanted to savor this even though he's impatient. And then froze when he saw bit, a second of pause before absolutely ravishing you
Ehe

There's a chance you've already done this prompt before but it's hard for me to check so if you've already done a fic like this dont worry Abt it! Adam x Male!reader btw.
Maybe a "I wish you were a girl" situation, but more from the readers point of view? Like he knows Adam has ever shown interest in girls, and constantly bitches about his wives. (And only ever flirts with random angels who are girls) So when Reader realizes he has a crush on him, he has doubts and never ever thinks that Adam would ever like him back. (Even tho I'm a firm believer of bi Adam.)
I don't know where to go from there, but maybe the reader figures out he DOES have a chance somehow? That or just straight up hurt/no comfort...
Okay so I don't think I've written this or something similar before and if u have I don't remember so here ya go <3
He likes a girl and I'm not a girl
pairing: Adam x male!reader
warnings: language
note: not beta read bc fuck you

For a guy who claimed to be a simple man, Adam was quite complicated in your eyes, though that had more to do with his behavior towards you than with anything else. On the outside everything was fine, the two of you were just pals - quite close pals but nothing more.
On the inside however - or specifically on your inside - the knowledge of being ‘just friends’ ate you up like a five star meal. Because how were you supposed to enjoy the beauty of Heaven if a certain brunette kept shattering your heart over and over again? How were you supposed to enjoy the divine afterlife they had promised you when the man you liked kept flirting with girls - girls who only looked half as good as you, girls who were good at sucking his dick and making pretty eyes at him, girls who were whores. You desperately wanted to grab Adam by his shoulders and shake him, you wanted to shake some sense into him, wanted to punch his face and kiss his lips at the same time and while you definitely were able to punch his face without ruining the friendship, you were quite unable to kiss his soft looking and inviting lips without setting the bond the two of you had formed on fire.
Adam was not into guys, he had made that clear over the past thousand years, he was ‘dating’ - more like hooking up with - women and women only and even if the first man would be into men, there was no guarantee that he would be into you. But there wasn’t even the slightest chance for you, Adam wasn’t into men and you - a man - were into Adam. It was doomed to fail, doomed to tear your heart apart over and over again but you refused to leave his side. You cared about the stupid fucker and while it burned to see him happy with women - women who weren’t you and you whow ould never be a woman - you were glad that Adam had found something that brought him joy, even if that meant that you would suffer from the indescribable pain of unrequired love.
A price that sounded so meaningful, so expensive but then you would see Adam’s golden eyes, filled with pride and pure happiness whenever he talked to you about whatever chick he had fucked over the weekend. It was easy to tune his words out and simply watch his facial expressions change, it was so easy to ignore the fact that he was literally telling you about having sex with women you have never met and would never meet. And yet it was so hard.
If only God would have made you a woman, a beautiful one that would be Adam’s type. And while your looks would fit Adam’s type, your gender very much didn’t, oh the price you were willing to pay to be a woman just for one day, just so you could be Adam’s for a single day. But that would not happen, neither of it would. God would not turn you into a woman and you wouldn’t be Adam’s, not for a day and certainly not for longer.
The worst part of it all? Adam’s unintentional yet hurtful comments.
“Y’know,” he had once said after one of his gigs as he had his arm wrapped around your shoulders. You were expecting the first man to tell you which of the women in the crowd he’d invite backstage but instead of doing that he had leaned in close, so close that his hot breath was hitting your cheek. “If you were a chick I’d make you mine in no fucking time, dude.”
If you were a chick.
But you weren’t and as long as that was the case Adam was not interested in you in any other way than being friends. And while you had laughted it off, his words had haunted you for days, fuck they had even followed you in your sleep.
Or another time when you and him had gotten shitfaced during the boys night out. His arm had been around your waist, his other hand was roaming over your body stopping at your chest, squeezing it, “For a dude you have fucking nice tits, man.” The alcohol had been audible in his voice and despite the fact that he was aware that you weren’t one of his girls, he kept touching you.
-
The first man was sitting next to you, your side was pressed flush against his as his arm was resting on the backrest of the couch right behind your head. Confidently he spoke, “So y’know how you’re into dudes?” Now that was straight up the dumbest question the first man had ever asked you and lets just say that he asked quite a lot of stuff. You fake gasped at him, “What, I’m into dudes? Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” That earned you a playful smack on the back of your head, turning your shocked expression into an amused grin. “Fuckhead,” the first man mumbled, “I’m being fucking serious here.” You simply shook your head in amusement, not quite sure where this conversation would lead you to - why was Adam suddenly interested in the fact that you liked men? Was he trying to set you up with someone?
“Yeah, why though?” you hummed right before you took a sip of your drink - a thing you regretted only seconds later when Adam said, “Do you know any fuckable dudes?” The sip wasn’t swallowed, instead you spit it out in pure shock.
What did he just say?

hello ! im a lurker anon with a lot of thoughts of whats happened in the past like. less than a day that ive been aching to dump and youre the first person i saw in the tag so ragh! wave incoming!
im pretty neutral on the two sides the anticares are seemingly split into now, cuz i feel like both sides have been reacting very strongly due to not understanding each other, and generally the infighting is unnecessary. i wanna mention first that a lot of people are being crazy harsh about chaosblast like IMMEDIATELY after they (? i dont see prns on their tumblr so i hope this is correct to use) said a single thing. i think there are valid reasons to be upset, but to preach about harassment while The Horde jumped them for a single post is. uhm. i hope the hypocrisy in that can be easily seen. please just block, we dont have to go nuts
Its being left out a lot that Chaosblast... did not say pegglesai wasnt harassed, nor condoned pegglesai being harassed. They specifically said that the post that showed evidence of harassment didnt load for them when they first made a post. It was not an issue of not looking at the full story before posting, tumblr just doesnt load shit sometimes. And they directly apologized for getting that bit wrong too (which is deleted now, along with all the posts they made during that time, as mentioned due to them still actively being stalked, but I myself saw when they posted that). If they answered a question once, 5 more people dont need to send the exact same thing. If you are going to be upset at someone for repeating incomplete information, do not repeatedly send the same thing that has already been answered
now, i wanna go ahead and say: i wholeheartedly believe ventblogs were not at risk of being doxxed. But i understand why they were scared of this! I think fearmongering of this did happen to an extent, but not intentionally. I think a lot of people online fear doxxing, so its kind of a magical threatening word one can use to send people into freaking out-- because not a lot of normal people will know how doxxing works! theyre not gonna actively try doing that themself, so why should they? so, for the record, i will say: Doxxing is not someone can just easily do in the blink of an eye, even if theyve doxxed someone before. In the case of the recent doxxer, they themself claim to be a victim of Woofles. That itself implies they were close to Woofles at some point, and when youre close to someone, that information is much more likely to be shared or found through proximity, and possibly trust in sharing more personal/sensitive info. Besides that, people are often doxxed through sharing/showing sensitive information that can be connected to their irl identity, or through having clicked/downloaded something malicious that can grab information. Getting scared of a doxxer threatening you is understandable! But for future reference, if something like this should ever come up again, ask yourself a few things; Have you clicked on or downloaded anything suspicious from someone/somewhere you dont know? If no, someone is not likely to immediately have all of your information. And also I think its just generally common knowledge not to do that. Otherwise, have you posted sensitive information of yourself online, that could be found by a complete stranger? If yes, that could be a potential issue, but normally for that kind of digging, itll take more than a few things to narrow it down. Stuff like your age/birthday and your country wont endanger you 99.99% of the time. Hell, even sharing your state/city wont always be dangerous, but you regardless should not share anything further than state. Its info like images of your face, images of where you live, what your job is/who you work for, etc that can really be dangerous to share. That, or easy access to accounts you use for irl purposes. I say none of this to seem as though im talking down to anyone, but just to accentuate that doxxing is something done through criteria being met, not something people just Find on a whim and post. If that were the case, the entire anticare space would probably be doxxed at this point. Theres not something like Whitepages easily accessible to the public that allows people to see your account and know everything about you. I say this all to hopefully quell fears a bit, and also so people can understand to not do/share these things about themselves, and that its also unlikely youll randomly be doxxed by someone who was close to a predator and targetting a predator. Excluding cases of clicking/downloading of malicious things, doxxing is often going to be something done by people closer to you, people you know rather than strangers.
However, despite all of this, I understand the fear. In concept, doxxing is a scary thing, and not many people are going to think in depth about how at risk they are if they are actively being threatened/harassed. And because of this, i think anyone who WAS actively mad at pegglesai, or whoever else, for being freaked out from harassment was absolutely in the wrong and should learn empathy.
I do understand where the people upset by the ventblog reactions are coming from, though. To my understanding, those are people much more learned/familiar with doxxing and harassment, and I think when thats something youve endured frequently, its easy to become desensitized to it, and also think others dumb for not realizing how unlikely some things like doxxing are for them.
its a case where I think both sides should really take a second to calm down. I think people in the know of how doxxing works should have been a bit more patient with ventblogs, understanding that many are children or not fully mature yet, and are thus much more susceptible to being scared by things like this. And not to be 'hurrdurr chronically online people' or whatever, but its even more the case for people who HAVE been on social media a lot, particularly as teens. I was pretty much the same up until i was 16, and it was then that I ended up taking a really long break from social media, and I came back to it with much more understanding of how I should act on it. As for the ventblog side, I think they should be more open to criticism. I will say, i can see how what was said was harsh/taken harshly, as it seems people were either actively being harsh, or being blunt. But we shouldnt be acting like The Horde in someones askbox because they said something that pissed us off! The sparklecrit community was built to have a free space where people could speak their mind, even if it differed from public opinion. It was made specifically to avoid the whiteknight culture sparklecare had accumulated. Lets please try to avoid recreating that, no matter the circumstance
And a final thing, a personal critique on ventblogs that I hope can be taken calmly, as I mean no harm with it-- but I think some should be much more careful with the information they post. If its something youre not going to directly inform the public about, you do not need to vague about it publicly. This only creates public interest, that can devolve into distress and chaos. And if its an allegation with proof, please, PLEASE, do not take it at face value. Even if 'well this person has a history of weird behavior' is your reasoning, we should avoid taking things as face value. Just because someone has done a wrong thing, does not mean they have done all wrong things ever, and taking every claim at face value without proof only muddies up what is true and what is false, which harms the people trying to spread that these people are bad in the first place. You are not helping the cause in the way you think you are if you actively spread allegations without proof, or at the very least without mentioning "this is a currently unproven allegation, please take with a grain of salt". When we're in such a community where many bad actors do exist and lurk, we have to be incredibly careful what is shared and spread. It is understandable to want the public to be aware of things sometimes, but some of you, especially adults, should try to have much more mindfulness when it comes to appropriately sharing what absolutely should and deserves to be shared
Anyways, holy yappathon over. I hope what ive said can be taken in a, at the very least, neutral way, as i truly mean no harm, but I can personally see where both sides are coming from. Its a clusterfuck of a situation, exacerbated by two sides not understanding each other, and reacting harshly in return. I hope any/all who have been harassed can find calm now, and feel safer however they chose to step away. If theres anything i missed, I do apologize for that. Im saying all of this with information I have from lurking in the community a lot since the kittycorn doc dropped, and having been on the side of sparklecrit privately pretty much since the sparklecrit community first started/became known as a separate part of the fandom. My memory is poor, so nothing potentially left out is left out with ill intent. I doubt this will really be seen, but watching people fight over this has been... something, and if I can get through to at least one person, then thats enough for me. Fuck shittycorn, fuck shitmera, fuck doxxers, fuck harassers, and good day to all the normal folk out there!
^ posting it so people can give their opinion if they have something to add, or reply to!!
#(ty for the part clarifying how doxxing works it took away some of my fear yayy)#sparklecrit#sperklacera#answers#currently at a music 'festival' and i can't exactly answer so ill let people do it if they want

Whenever PETA or other ARAs come up i always think of the 40 year old bear from the zoo in the city i grew up in
This guy looked a bit worse for wear. He had his own enclosure too, because the other bears played too rough for him. He once got on infection on his rump that the vet had to shave all the fur away from to do a physical inspection on it, so for a while it looked like he wasn't wearing pants and there was a hunk of scar tissue where the infection once was. If you looked at him with no knowledge of bears, you might think he was being horribly abused. And we got our fair share of ARAs freaking the fuck out and claiming he was while calling for the whole zoo to be shut down.
Thing is though, he wasn't abused at all. He was thriving. His age just meant that he had different needs now regarding things like enrichment and his enclosure and the medical treatment he got. He was 40 years old, and that bear species usually only lives to 25. He liked to lie around and bask in the sunlight not because he was in pain or starving, but because his age made him lazy and sleepy, and in captivity he never had to worry about other animals threatening him. His toys were softer and easier to chew on than the ones in the other, younger bears' enclosure. They also installed a little grate on the outer wall for him to paw at when he wanted a snack. The others had set feeding times, he just ate when he was hungry because turns out that bears are not immune to age-related tummy hurties. The keepers once told me that he also got special medicine crushed up in his food so he wouldnt feel any joint pain and could move about freely to do bear things.
And I saw that bear a lot before he ultimately passed away. He was always very relaxed, never seemed tense or anxious, and I think he was born in captivity too because he was very used to people and would often sit and watch us like he was the one at the zoo. They eventually had to euthanize him because his meds werent working anymore and they didnt want his quality of life to suffer, and he'd lived 2 bear lifetimes already. I dont think that bear was ever abused, i think he lived a very spoiled and happy life. Probably lasted that long because he was like "this is a sweet deal im not leaving yet. Ill die when i feel like it."

i dunno how applicable this is EXACTLY but im putting it here because im an idiot and accidentally. im not going to say "triggered myself". SCARED myself. with the thing in question.
stpd (plus nuances. maybe i should stop adding that) culture is being really, REALLY FREAKED OUT by radio hijackings. namely the WKCR-FM "death tape" one. DO NOT LOOK IT UP. IF YOU DONT ALREADY KNOW WHAT IT IS. ok i mean you can look it up but if youre at all similarly inclined away from Scary Weird Sounds That Get Under Your Skin in the way i am, youll fucking hate it and itll freak you out. like i dont know how to explain it other than it haunts me. ill be minding my own business and then "hey haha yknow that sound that scares the living fucking daylights out of you? we're thinking about it now" you fucker.
additionally: stpd culture is being really scared of getting cursed. when i was younger i was heart-rendingly terrified of like. 3 AM things (and honestly i still am. if i need to go out to like, the kitchen for whatever reason and its 3 am? im waiting until 4. maybe even 5, to be safe). but yknow those videos or audio bits or whatever that claimed to be cursed, and always had like. weird imagery attached to them? (especially the ones that were said to be "Actually Legitimately Cursed"). those scare me. i avoid watching them/watching videos about them as much as i can because its not worth the fear (and im like. a horror enjoyer. or yk "enjoyer". im drawn to horror, i dont think i can really wholeheartedly say i Enjoy it)
and theres this one visual that uh. will take a bit of an anecdote to get to. so. yeah. sorry for the already-lengthy confession but its going to get longer. sorry mod. sorry everyone else.
so i play(ed) the binding of isaac a lot. watched a lot of videos About the binding of isaac. and a particularly popular mod for the binding of isaac is fiend folio, which adds a specific boss named cacophobia. and i really like cacophobia, i love the visuals (however much they might freak me out). but theres one sprite specifically that caught my attention, which is venus (the uh. i guess boss' hitbox. cacophobia is a weird bossfight) in the uh. death posture. the death posture is, from what ive learned (which can very easily be incorrect, so my bad if anyone else is more knowledgeable about this than i am, and im being stupid about it) is some sort of yoga-type thing that's connected to occult topics. and SINCE learning about it, i have become equal parts enthralled by it, as a pose; and deeply, DEEPLY terrified of it, because for whatever reason i always end up under the assumption that it will curse me. even though i dont think theres any mythos or reputation around it involving curses or whatever. its weird.
-phonetics anon. god, sorry again for the fucking. english assignment-esque ask, thats a lot. to ramble a small bit more though, because im nothing if not a talkative bitch; ive tried the death posture once. i dont uh. Explicitly Believe in occult things, as far as i know, but yknow. just wanted to test it. see what it felt like. i dont remember now, so who knows. we watch a decent amount of analogue horror, too. we're actually watching a video about liminal land right now. because i am. an idiot.
know maybe this is why so many of our. weird. visual things. that im not going to call hallucinations because i dont deserve the word. are uh. faces. peeking at us.
i had another thing i was going to say but ive forgotten now. maybe thats a good thing. for all my apologising, i have just added more bullshit to this ask. sorry mod.
.
#-phonetics anon#theres no need to apologize#i like when people rant#seriously#stpd culture is#schizospec#cluster a safe#stpd#schizotypal#actually stpd#schizotypal pd#actually schizotypal

Oh man I saw your totk issues post and I agree 100%!! Those are all things that have really bothered me about playing totk, and things that made playing it not nearly as fun (the dungeons, the shrines, the building, etc).
Especially the map!! When I tell you I was so disappointed by the maps on totk, I was hoping for something new! It really just feels like a modded botw, not an official sequel.
I was wondering what your thoughts are on the concept of “what if they had sent link to the past instead”? So the surface map would feature huge differences in the land forms and buildings that exist, and we’d get to see more ganon whenever he visits Hyrule, or go out to the desert to see Gerudo town, etc.
If they really wanted no sheika tech, they could also just have it being newly built? And you could introduce the new characters and such, etc etc.
(I also think the past champions are such a missed opportunity? If botw is about grief and loneliness, and finding hope in the hopeless, and Totk is about coming together despite that, it could have been really interesting if Link had gone to the past! They could have used the past setting as an eerie reminder to what Link and Zelda had lost when the Calamity struck!)
THAT BEING SAID: I’m not as familiar with the legend of Zelda lore, and haven’t played totk very much! I wanted to know your thoughts on this because you seem to have a lot of story and game mechanic knowledge that could explain why this could be a bad/good idea!
(Plus, your discussions are always super interesting to read, as is your custom totk lore, so I’d love to know what you think🩷)
I’m sorry if you’ve already answered an ask like this! If that’s the case, feel free to point that out and I’ll go through your ask tag if you have one:) I hope you have a great day!⭐️
Hi!
im glad you enjoy my rants, i often feel like im being overly mean but tbh were else could i just rant as much as my heart desires without getting spammed by annoying people (certainly not on twitter lol)
i have talked alot, and i mean ALOT, about totk and my issues with it, both lore and gameplay wise, i dont claim to be an expert on any, though i am an old zelda fan and aspiring gamedev, i really only talk about what i feel about it, what i think about it, and by all means im biased as hell xD
if you dont know yet, the "ganondoodles rants" tag is where all my rants go, so if you are interested in reading more on my totk thoughts thats the way to search (given tumblrs search in blog works ..)
and to answers your question, i have touched on it briefly, sending link back in time before the shiekah tech existed would have been an easy way to excuse how they jsut got .. rid of it, bc they didnt, it literally didnt exist yet- and for reusing the map- though that argument falls a little flat bc ... they coud have already done that in present totk, like i brought up in one of said rants, things like flooding gerudo desert, collapsing death mountain, drying out zoras domain etc, and changing the location of the main populations would have already done alot without having to redo the map in its entirety;
the little changes to map itself really wouldnt that big of a deal if they didnt also send you to the EXACT same locations AND repeat the SAME LOCATIONS AGAIN but in the underground, like thats a fact i have talked about multiple times bc its so illogical in every way, anywhere theres a settlement on the surface theres a bigger mine below, its so stupid, the shrines conenct to a lightroot, the same, again, you dont need to explore bc theres nothing TO explore (its also extra weird bc theres one below taburasa (tarrey town) which .... link literally build with dumsda (hudson) a few years ago .. unless that got retconned too idk wth do i know anymore honestly- AND it makes the sonau extra weird bc why the hell do they have a bigass mine under every settlement ESPECIALLY UNDER GERUDO TOWN like, that just adds to my suspicions towards them)
anyway, link to the past was the point and yes, it could have solved a few issues (mainly shiekah tech and the whole "story" taking place AGAIN in the past completely disconnected from you the player) i personally am not so much a fan of it, but that mostly comes down to me just not liking time travel, i dont like going back in time, i want to play and do things in the here and now, i want to repair the damages of the calamity, find out its origins, maybe fix that too, i love to learn about past stuff too, but that more in text, no literal flashback (unless done well), i want to connect to the past but it also holds alot of mystery that maybe shouldnt be touched upon, some mysteries and unkowns are much more interesting when left as such, i want to THINK about things and come to conclusions that are logical and makes sense in hindsight even if it wasnt clear at the start, i dont want information and what to think about it told to my face over and over like im stupid
after botw i really didnt care much about the past, maybe about the acient hero who alot of people specualted to be of gerudo origin due to its red hair- which also got a monkeys paw curled bc in totk they do sth with but its so stupid and insulting that i do not accept it as canon, say what they want, there are no dog people anywhere in the past nor present botw/totk wtf is that i hate it- and its not even .. why is that the reward for that, it has literally NOTHING TO DO WITH TOTK ITSELF I COULD YELLLL AAAARGH
main point is that really, i wanted to explore the past .. in the present, i hoped to find broken old shiekah structures, old labs and maybe some left over damage and records from when the old king persecuted the shiekah for their tech, i wanted to know where the ancient energy the shiekah used was coming from, what the boss arena in the middle of hyrule castle really was- so many things just discarded and acted like they never happened or mattered; i dont want to travel into the past, i want to discover whats left of it, piece it together, discover dark secrets you can ask no one about bc all that knew about it are long gone- thats what intrigued me about botw, it felt like there was so much left to discover only for totk to throw it all away and just do its own thing .. but not commit to that hard enough either so its neither its own thing nor a sequel-
.. that wasnt really what you wanted to know was it? xD sorry i tend to ramble on if someone seems to give me permission to
to sum it up, i think it COULD work, sending link to the past instead, if done well, but so could canon totk have been, it could have been done well but wasnt for reasons i dont know and tbh even fear bc i worry its sets a dark future ahead of zelda; i personalyl am just not a fan of time travel so i dont have that much to say to it :O
#ganondoodles answers#ganondoodles talks#zelda#ganondoodles rants#adding this to that bc i .. ranted again#you ask for a pebble and get a landslide#my rambling mouth could never shut up#also dont apologize pls#i might not always answer but you have my permission to rant into my inbox#i often feel alone in my rants like its just my own brainrot taking hold

I dont understand team blacks insistence that the greens killed her daughter. Yes the two gut punches of Rhsenyras father being dead and Aegon being crowned triggered her into an early birth, but she was very clearly far along already, and that child didnt come out premature then die later in the same way Baelon did. It was a still birth. Still births dont happen at birth it happens before that and the mother tragically in those days would never know it.
She had 3 healthy children with Harwin, then 2 children with her uncle. And unfortunately, when Targaryean women have children multiple times with men in their own family, miscarriages and stillborns are not uncommon.
It's horrible, but her daughter not making it was not the greens fault, it was a tragedy that has happened to many women in Rhaenyras family including her mother.
Like her daughter not making it obviously effected her even more considering how close it was with Lucerys's death, but I don't grasp why they call her death murder and that it's the greens fault.
Its nothing short of a miracle for Rhaenyra that she had 5 healthy children up to that point with little complications. I get why Rhaenyra blames them in her grief, but I don't get why team black fans blame them when we should have the objective knowledge to know better.
Because didn’t you know? Everything that happened during the Dance was the Greens’ fault! Even things that are scientifically impossible!
I agree. The fact Rhaenyra had as many healthy kids as she did for the tine period is incredible! But things happen, especially in that time, and it’s no one’s fault
I feel like the reason they blame the Greens is purely because Rhaenyra says they killed her daughter, even though we are supposed to see this as delusional. Black fans really do just agree with whatever she says and not think deeper (unless thinking deeper means that you claim that everything in the book is Maester/green propaganda)

Alright!! So I was gonna write, but I figured I'd made an info page on the Agape AU first and THEN I'd write tomorrow instead.
The Agape AU.
Part 1: Appearances, what happens when they show up, and their voices.
TWS FOR ELDIRITCH OR ANIMAL-LIKE APPEARANCES, SHARP TEETH OR NAILS, TERRIFYING APPEARANCES, LOUD VOICES, CORPSES, DEAD PEOPLE, ETC
@professional-procrastinating @rebootgrimm @av-the-art1st @random-fandom-chaos
Summary:
Odysseus is basically trying to get back home to Ithaca, like he is in the original story. However, the thing is, in this world—the God's unconditionally and intensely care for humans in a way that is so hard to comprehend that it's easy for humans to get overwhelmed by it. But, the God's still have a detached morality toward humans, and though they apparently care for them, they will do just about any hurtful thing to them. And Odysseus is forced to fight against and run away from the very God's who claim to love him while on his journey, slowly becoming more horrified and miserable throughout his rather disturbing encounters with basically everything.
Facts about this AU:
1. Every character in this has a very.. eldritch appearance you could say? They all look horrifying, I'll tell you that. Half of them are also much taller than humans, or the most powerful ones usually don't even appear as humans at all (rather, they appear as something else entirely, likely to do with their domains).
2. The God's actually know every human in this AU, due to.. well, being God's and having lots of worshippers.
3. The God's know humans by soul, so they know basically everything about every specific human, even the smallest little details.
4. The closest to humans is Hermes (who is a little more intense about the whole thing), while the God who's the least close of all of them is Calypso (since no one really comes to her Island anyway, but she still feels love for them).
5. The God's are respected here and feared, but only a few who have actually gotten close to them without being afraid of them have loved them in return (it's not that humanity is unaware of their love, but more so that the God's are so horrifying in both actions and appearance that they can't help but be terrified anyway—understandably).
6. When humans die here, their spirit gains awareness of everything about the world and divine knowledge itself, and whether they like it or not, they develop the same unconditional love for everyone as the God's do, and feel such a strong sense of peace that they don't care about anything anymore.
7. The God's respect eachother as God's, and often do get into disputes, but they typically dont want humans to worry about it, so they rarely ever tell them about it unless it's like REALLY serious.
8. The God's can be very affectionate with humans, so they often have nicknames for them, act very physically affectionate with them, praise them, etc. Doesn't really make their more morally gray actions any better though. 😭
9. Basically everything in Epic all goes the same here, but it's slightly darker due to some things about the AU.
10. Individuals in Tartarus here often deal with very harsh or excruciating punishments, which Hades usually watches in sadness, as if he's not the reason they're there in the first place.
Appearances of the Gods:
Zeus, God of Justice, Thunder, and The Sky - King of God's - He doesn't really appear as a human, but he usually comes in the form of storm clouds, and let's himself be known with a disembodied, echoing voice that is so rough and low that it sounds like the cracking of thunder. It's also quite obvious when he's there since the clouds always seem a bit too dark and seem to basically appear out of nowhere or a bit too quickly. And the area around whoever is there when he arrives suddenly becomes very still and quiet, to the point where they can barely hear anyone else. The air even feels so stiff it makes anyone nervous to move. He can also make illusions of humans appear, but otherwise never really disguises himself or makes illusions.
Poseidon, God of The Ocean, Horses, and Earthquakes - Does not really appear as a human either, but he usually 'appears' by making the air around suddenly go stiff, sometimes making storm clouds appear, or making it seem like there's a shadow of a horse there—or he just makes everything around tremble. But otherwise, he's usually just a disembodied loud rough voice that changes frequently in tone like the waves of the ocean, always seeming to come from the ocean—as if he's directly beneath there.
Hades - He often appears as a human with pale skin and long black hair, wide eyes to the point where it's terrifying (his pupils are usually gray) and he has eyebags beneath his eyes, and he always has a loose tunic wrapped around himself (he often shows up like this to greet or talk to random shades or people up in the mortal world). But, other times, he shows up as a silhouette (which he actually prefers to show up as)—or takes the form of someone who's already dead (usually appearing as however their corpse looks). He has a quiet, whispery, ghost-like voice that is incredibly hard to hear. And it's so quiet that it creeps nearly anyone out.
Hera - Goddess of Marriage, Women, Family, and Childbirth - Queen of the Gods - She typically doesn't want to scare humans, because for whatever reason (likely due to the fact that she's a Goddess of family and has mother-like instincts) she seems to notice peoples emotions better than the others or seems to care more. So she usually takes the form of a regular human woman (with pale brown skin, long black hair, blue eyes, a white tunic, being just a bit too small and having eyes that are just a bit too wide—always having an odd walk, like how a bird would walk). But her regular form is one where her long hair is styled more like feathers with blue and green colorings to them, a veil around her head like a wedding veil, and gloves worn around her hands (with depictions of human families adorned on her skirt patterns since she wears a tunic). Her eyes are black completely, and she is VERY tall (gigantic even). She can also appear as a peacock, a cow, or as a cucoo, but it's usually obvious when it's her since the animal always seems a bit too still and won't stop staring. Her voice is very deep and feminine, being so loud that it echoes no matter how much she softens it—fitting for a Queen like herself.
Athena - Goddess of Wisdom, Warfare, Crafts - She has a very owl-like appearance. She has a humanoid form, but has the head of an owl and a beak like one, black eyes with white pupils, long dark brown hair that is styled like feathers, and a large helmet that usually makes her face appear shadowed and not able to really see. She wears tunic with shoulder blades, but is typically seen wearing a cape that she can easily turn into a robe to disguise herself with. She also has human legs that transition into owl feet, but they're usually hidden by her cape. She also carries a sword and shield around most of the time. Athena can choose to appear in the form of an actual owl most of the time though—or as any of her other sacred animals, but they will often have unnaturally gray eyes even if they're not supposed to—and they hide themself VERY well. When she appears, everything seems to get a bit more stiff and silent, becoming darker all around as if a spotlight is set upon you—and before you know it, you probably appear in a gray endless void where she's probably there waiting for you. Her voice is calm, low, and strong—like a Queen giving a speech, but it can get incredibly loud if she's enraged, often turning more animal-like and becoming more rough.
Aeolus - Deity of The Winds - Usually just hangs out at the air, but will sometimes make themself appear as a humanoid figure for fun. Their humanoid form has long white hair that resembles clouds, wide white eyes with no pupils, seemingly no lips for whatever reason, and often no tunic at all or wearing a loose tunic that seems more like a cape than anything else. Their form can change rapidly though—from having no eyes at all, to suddenly having shorter hair, etc. Because like the wind, they shift rapidly. Their voice can also go from loud to quiet real fast, being very high and energetic, usually shifting to different tones as well. It can also become very echo-y at times, especially when they're yelling.
Circe - Goddess of Sorcery—skilled with Transmutation, Illusion, and Necromancy - Appears as a humanoid figure that seems like a woman, with pointy ears and wide eyes that are completely black with pink pupils. She has a long, ominous smile on her face at times, and has pale brown skin. She is incredibly tall, and wears a veil around her head with a long sleeved tunic (and a long skirt). But when she rips the veil off, she has a wild messy state of dark brown locks for hair, seeming like a lions mane. And she also has sharp teeth and very sharp nails. She also has the ability to lunge at people and is very fast. She often seems to appear out of nowhere, as if she teleported or something, so people often get startled when she shows up. Her voice is also very quiet and normal—but becomes distorted and rough quickly if she feels angered.
Hermes - God of Trickery, Thieves, Messengers, Astrology, and more - Doesn't really have a specific form since he changes forms every few seconds for fun (appearing as a snake, another person, a hawk, etc). But the form he'd usually use is a human-like one, with a shadow over his completely white eyes, messy dark brown curly hair, a helmet with wings, and a tunic with a dark purple cape that has stars on it and always seems to shift. He has a very long and slender body that always seems to shift or change in some way. And he is very tall. He also has winged sandals. When he appears, everything around suddenly becomes hot-pink, everything goes dead-quiet, and shortly after, he appears or is noticed. His voice is distorted and often very cheerful, but can change tones quickly. He isn't one to really get angry though, so he often sounds very happy (only really going dead quiet if pissed—or screaming so loud it deafens the ears of whoever hears it).
Tiresias - Prophet of Thebes, once a priestess to Apollo, and once a priestess to Hera - He appears in the form of a young beautiful man with sharp ears, long white hair that has curls, and has a bandage over his face. But he has a deep gash of scars on his eyes that is so bad that he doesn't have eyes anymore. He also has a long dark robe with a sapphire pendant holding it together at the hood. Nothing really happens when he shows up, but he does always show up unexpectedly. His voice is also very soft-spoken, gentle, and quiet—a bit like a mother's in a way.
The Sirens - Ehhh the Sirens don't all specifically have an appearance here? But they usually appear as black giant birds here with human heads that either aren't moving at all or aren't moving it's face at all, but an illusion from the sirens can usually make it seem like they're completely human. Understandably, this doesn't work if you can't hear them though, so Odysseus is slightly terrified during suffering since it's literally wearing the head of some random woman (who resembles Penelope but clearly isn't her) who's definitely dead.
Scylla - Has a human woman-like appearance up at her top, with sharp ears, a giant smile with sharp teeth, and completely black eyes. But she also has sharp nails and long arms, with tentacles and six heads of eels for her legs. Often times, when she appears, it's sudden, but you usually don't have time to react even as she's coming right for you. It's a bit like suddenly being attacked by a bear while camping or something like that, or a brown bear suddenly showing up while you're on a hike. She has an extremely loud, raspy voice that is very high pitched and often screams a lot. It is very deafening to the point where it can even make one's ears bleed from the overwhelming noise.
Calypso - Prisoner of Ogygia, Goddess of Lost Souls, Daughter of Atlas - Appears in the form of a humanoid with feminine features, but resembles a sea creature at best. She has long black dreads, sharp ears, black eyes with teal pupils, sharp teeth and a wide mouth, teal skin with gills on her face, a shell bra and a tunic for a skirt. She's usually human-size, and can also run very quick, or swim very fast. Her voice is soft and is quiet enough for a human to here, but she also giggles a lot and can have very manic changes of voice. Nothing really happens when she appears since being trapped on an Island by the God's, she's also been stripped of most her power, but that doesn't mean she can't run after people or stalk them. People are also usually sent to her Island, so they're usually imprisoned to by whoever sends them there.
Apollo - God of Music, Poetry, Sunlight, Healing, Sickness, etc - Appears in the form of a humanoid most of the time—with short platinum blonde (nearly so bright it's white) hair, a halo-like shine around his head that's meant to be like sunlight, completely white eyes but an otherwise normal looking face, tan brown skin, a white tunic with a yellow collar around his neck and a sun pendant attached to it, pale yellow sandals. He usually carries around a lyre or a bow with him as well. Often, he appears in the form of a ball of light descending from on high before appearing as a human—often making himself known by speaking beforehand. He has a very gentle and sweet voice, that is very polite. But if angered, he goes completely silent or speaks more quietly than he usually does.
Hephaestus - God of The Forge, Volcanoes, Fires, Metal-working, etc - He often appears as an old man with pale skin and a ragged dark brown beard with a mustard and ragged long hair, often seeming 'hideous' appearance wise, and usually wearing a robe and a tunic over himself. But he can also appear in the form of lava or fire—often able to make a silhouette with fire of himself. He can also make his human form have visible orange glowing veins, and completely orange pupils (he also stumbles a lot when walking, or seems 'clumsy'—at least trying to seem like so to catch people off guard or make them let their guard down if he's suspicious of them). He has a very low, rough, and wheezy voice—and anytime he appears, it seems to be out of nowhere, with him always appearing right in the corner of a room.
Aphrodite - Goddess of Love, Beauty, Procreation, Pleasure, etc - Doesn't have a specific form, but usually appears as whatever or whoever the individual she's showing up to finds the most beautiful (including Athena, who she shows up to as an olive tree with a disembodied voice). When she appears though, she usually giggles before seeming to suddenly show up, or always seeming to catch the attention of whoever she's showing up to while she's approaching them—everything also becomes pink-tinted. Her voice is soft, giggly, feminine, and can have a slight echo to it—but it can also get very deep and angry and loud if she's truly upset.
Ares - God of War, Chaos, Destruction, Strength, Pride, etc - Often appears in the form of a muscular Greek human soldier with traditional armor, and a complete shadow over his face that is never revealed—or is hidden if his helmet somehow is taken off. He also can appear as a giant snake or as a bull—often charging in with no warning and being very aggressive. When he appears, people will often get very angry for no reason, become violent, and not even notice the area around them suddenly becoming even more tinted with red or eerily loud until it's too late and he shows right up. His voice is very masculine and rough, so deep that people feel nervous hearing him speak, but he also screams a lot and can make just about anyone cry or tremble in fear with a raise of tone.
Charybdis - Doesn't really change here? But I'd say she's more gigantic, appears almost like an anglerfish here, and he's incredibly loud cries. Also, the area around her is very dark and stormy, so it's easy to tell when she's around.
Polyphemus - Kinda normal hers? I imagine he appears how most people depict him, except his eye is completely black instead, and his teeth are a lot sharper. He also moves very unexpectedly since he's quite still or slow most of the time. His voice is the same as it is in the musical, but slightly louder. Nothing really happens when he shows up since he doesn't really have magic and isnt really a deity, but it's quite obvious when he's around due to him speaking all of the sudden or being so loud that people can hear him—or his breathing is very audible. He's also a bit more animal-like, but is clearly the youngest of the Cyclops. He's also still angry with Odysseus here and kills half his men, even if the slight divine blood he has within him makes him care a little bit about Odysseus at least.
Helios - He doesn't really appear here? But he doesn't really appear in the form of anything and more so just kinda watches everything because he literally is the sun, but he can sometimes show up as like a cow or something—which is quite friendly (people rant to cows sometimes, not knowing it's actually him). He's actually kinda just chilling here, but can be equally terrifying since he literally sends Zeus to punish Odysseus after Eurylochus kills one of the golden cattle.
More gentle with humans: Apollo, Hera, Aeolus.
More playful: Hermes, Aeolus.
More cruel with them: Zeus, Poseidon.
More generally harsh: Ares, Athena (at times).
More affectionate: Hermes, Apollo, and basically all of then except for Ares—but he tends to show his affection more through praise in battle and sparring with people and stuff like that.
Again, all of the God's love humans as cruel as they are here, so no matter what humans do, they never seem quite angry with them or really upset at all (Poseidon is basically trying to punish Odysseus, but isn't actually that mad and is just being very stern). And neither do any dead humans get mad with humans who are still alive. Tiresias gently laughs at Odysseus during No Longer You while the other shades from the river watch ominously and seen just as gently amused or eager to show him affection—and holds Odysseus' hand, Athena cups Telemachus' face and keeps praising him about his strengths, Athena doesn't yell at Odysseus even when he's yelling at her—even trying to hold him as if he's a child who's having a tantrum and just needs a moment to calm down—but Odysseus likely resists—or at least tries to, Hermes gives Odysseus a platonic smooch on the head here after giving him the wind bag in Dangerous and even hugs him, etc.
But, as much as they love humans, they can still be awful and not even seem to know it. Which is why it's so terrifying. No matter what any human does, the God's are very detached from morality and will act in ways that aren't right. And clearly are more powerful than humans, so all humans can really do is nervously obey them, try to escape them or fight them if necessary, etc.

October 30 2024 2009
Its my birthday! Absolutely hilarious that todays first post is Jade wishing John a Happy Birthday.
But first lets go back to last night.

Pesterchum Enamel ver. lives up to its name. Very shiny. Under the Chumroll are familiar names, under Trollslum however... @homestuckreplay beat me to the punch analyzing the names in this post, so I wont worry on that end, great work as always friend.
Instead lets look at a new pesterlog featuring Dave. At 11:14 Jade time, Dave goes on a ramble waiting for Jade who may or may not be asleep?
TG: youre asleep again arent you
TG: or do you even know if you are
TG: i still dont know how that works
This is kinda strange. Just on base reading it kind of implies that Jade sleepwalks in a way. But also its a concious sleepwalk? Reading further, since Dave gets no reply claiming 'youre nonawake or unasleep or whatever' it implies Jade has three states: awake, fully asleep, and asleep but aware. It makes sense since we know Jade sorta falls asleep randomly but we havent seen her in a 'nonawake' state so we cant be sure what that entails. I wonder if those states are where she gets her prophetic visions, though she claims she doesnt know where the knowledge comes from. Or does she actually know and is just saying so to not come off stranger? But we already know shes weird so why would she lie?
In any case, Dave leaves a file titled 'explore remix.mp3' and given the page prior this is normal between them. Im really hoping the next update lets us hear Daves work. We only got a taste and I really wanna hear what an actual Strider track entails.

Hi my friend sent me the request you did for them. And I love it so much
Can I request yandere gagons for yandere links playtonic x baby dragon's female reader ( been playing tears of the kingdom. And you can ride and climb the dragons.)
Like the found the little reader coming out of her egg and is kinda different then the other dragons she More like a naga dragon looking one but is to cute
Please and thank you ( I didn't know if you do ganondorf's so I put links on there to if you can't do the ganondorf s have a great day
Oot Ganondorf was a powerful sorcerer who was born to the Geurdo and raised by two witches. He has stolen from everyone and knows no bounds and murdered people, nothing can or will stand in his way. When he first finds your egg he's more confused with what's inside. Will you even hatch?
He doesn't know the power he holds but he can’t tell from the moment he sees your egg that you're his. The rare object is his birthright. In his eyes and no one was going to stop him from keeping it.
After some research he found out he came across a rare dragon egg. One that hadn't been seen in centuries. Despite it being such a rare gift the limits and knowledge on you were limited. He had no clue what to think, what you could or would do, or even how to raise you. He thought about passing you along to someone else to raise but as he kept you close and spent more time with you the two of you began to imprint on each other.
He brought you with him to Hyrule as he swore allegiance and he often rants to your egg about news and how the days pass. His plots and schemes remain his to know about but he loves to just talk to you. Once you hatch it's after the young hero emerges from the woods but before he faces or challenges Link.
The serpent-like creature was too small and weak to care for itself. He took care of you. Keeping you close all the time (not that you would stand to be put down) he kept you with him hidden in his pockets. Sneaking your food during meetings. You ate fruits and meats most happily and he was glad to see you thrive even in these conditions. It would take awhile until you grew up but he had hoped it would be sooner rather than later. He had plans that needed to go underway soon.
Wind waker Ganondorf has this deeper character to him where he states his reasons for wanting to take over Hyrule is so he can give his people a better life. While i dont think this is actually the case, I think it stems more from the fact that he believes by some sort of bid he owns hyrule by right and can rule it better. What better way to take it all over than a dragon?
Flying through the air or swimming in the ocean either way will be a wonderful tool for conquering. At first when he finds the egg he assumes he'll use you like a tool the same way he does his bird. Once you hatch though he takes one look into those beady little eyes and realises, no… No, I can't do that to this creature. He does care for even his bird (he uses chickens hidden around the rocky shores of his fortress as enrichment and will throw the hideous creature people who cross him for food to hunt down) but he can't think of you as a tool. Not even as a pet.
You're intelligent, far more so than he would ever expect and you've… What's the word? Tamed? Imprinted? Like the rito- eh it doesnt matter.
He doesn't know how to care for you but you're very smart and intuitively the both of you work it out. As you grow older and his plans start to grow bolder as he starts to kidnap the maidens. He keeps you by his side for this. Planning to keep you safe and by his side for his final fight. Talking to you and keeping you safe as you grow older.
Totk Ganondorf would have found you while planning to challenge Raru. Leaving his kingdom to swear fealty also meant being able to travel through hyrule proper and taking claim to whatever he figured he might need. He found you hidden away in some temple and was skewed with jealousy. Raru never did know what power he wielded and this was just another show of it. Items of rare and extravagant power are best suited to those that would use them.
This man is tainted with hate and the moment he sees the egg he has his claws in you. Planning for what he'll do once you wake up. A dragon is a terrible thing to waste. He keeps you warm with blankets and hides you until he's back home. You sit still until it's time for you to hatch and he trusts few with the task of guarding you.
You're a very sweet dragon in comparison to his cool exterior. He only allows you to circle his keep and to go no further than that, lest you be discovered before he can put his plans into motion. When he goes to kill Sonia and enact his revenge he takes you with him. Hiding you in the room he killed the queen in so you may witness his rise as king in front of zelda and everyone else.
When he manages to slip away you dash after him, remaining out of sight. He also takes you with him to the keep that was made his tomb. He knows that as an immortal dragon you're doomed to stay alive all those years without him, and it stops you from running off. He impressions you with him.
Unless you showed absolute fealty, keeping you here with him is a mercy. Otherwise he'd have to hunt you down and corrupt you with malice and neither of you would want that. He believes in you to stay there. Staying asleep until he wakes up himself. After damaging Link and ensuring Zelda is gone he goes underground with you by his side. Waiting for the fabled swordman to challenge him; he plans to fight with you by his side.

Alright, I read The Vampire Lestat all in one go in 8 hours a few hours ago, I spent the whole day at the library just reading it (i brought food w/ me dw) and then I came home, tired ass balls legs hurting from sitting and stimming for that entire time and I immediately went to bed even though I had so many thoughts that I wanted to write about, and now its midnight and I cant sleep and Ive realized that my sleep schedule is just fucked now, so yeah its The Vampire Lestat Thoughts Time now
I wanted to start this post off by talking about the post I made immediately after reading Interview with the Vampire, which was a very short one where I think I basically just called Lestat a very pathetic abuser and I meant that in a very specific nunaced way but I dont think i did a good job conveying that. Anyway, the only person who ever interacted with it was a blog that was called smth like lestats-left-eye and they interacted with it like 8 minutes after I posted it and the reason I remember it so clearly is that I thought that was really menacing. Like, imagine you make a post calling some character a piece of shit and then within minutes you get a notification thats like "characters-no1-fan replied to your post". But they didnt say anything mean, they were basically just like "you need to read the vampire lestat STAT" presumably because they thought it would make me think differently about him but honestly all it did was make me more convinced of his patheticness, less so of his 'abuserness', for lack of a better term, but I think thats mainly because the Thing that would make me call him an abuser was his relationship with Louis and he didnt talk about that very much, and all his other relationships were just like, weird. so. At this point i feel like I should clarify that wben I call him that Im not doing that to moralize or to be judgemental of people who like him, I like him, i just feel like thats an accurate way of describing him and the particular way in which he was manipulative and demanded love
Anyway, the first thing that made him really pathetic in my eyes was the way he 'debunked' Louis' claims at the start of the Interview with a Vampire section because, idek how to describe it, but theres just something so annoying about it. Hes like "I mean, I suppose its true from his point of view, but i actually didnt indescriminately murder random people, I only killed the bad ones, and he also completely neglects to mention our romantic walks and our cute little shakespeare-reenactments for Claudia, and also he says Im stupid and dont know anything but I was actually just keeping the knowledge of our power from him because he seemed so burdened by what little he already had :(" like come on man. And obviously I understand that the power-thing in particular was a retcon because the first book was a standalone, but these books are really well-written and they dont break my immersion so I dont really feel the need to do like, extensive doylist-analysis, yknow what I mean
Like, Ive been reading the ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas and Ive been critiquing and complaining about those books on a sideblog and authorial intent comes up a lot because theyre clearly trying to say one thing, convey one particular message in an honestly very annoyingly moralizing way, but what the characters actually do and say blatantly contradict it, and for all that the series' fans talk about all the characters being morally gray, theres a very obvious refusal to have them be anything other than paragons of goodness by both the texg and those same fans. And those are not issues I have with the Vampire Chronicles so far, so when i say that I find that Interview with the Vampire section annoying, Im not criticizing the writing, Im saying that Lestat seems like the most frustrating genre of person. I mean, I do have some criticisms of the writing, specifically of the story, but I'll get to that later
For now I wanted to elaborate a little on why I found Lestat so annoying, and its the fact that he spent this whole book talking big game about being evil and revolutionizing the evil-game but then at the end he seemed so unwilling to just let the general public actually think of him as such, even though most humans considered it fiction, like he had to soften the blow at the end. And I do think its him just wanting to soften blow as opposed to him actually wanting to set the record straight because he cares that much about the truth or whatever, because I think if he actually cared about that, he wouldve been a bit more specific instesd of just being like "yeah, Louis said a bunch of things that are wrong about me, but I can forgive him because I suppose they were right from his perspective, even though they arent really" like dude.
It really feels like hes just using this evil-shtick as a crutch and as some kind of self-justification for being unlovable. Like, if hes evil and no one loves him thats fine because evil has no need for love, but if hes evil and someone does love him thats even better because then its a deep romance capable of withstanding anything, yknow what Im saying? But then he talked about the fact that demons in hell and vampires are capable of love and he talks a lot about his own capacity to love, so idk. I definitely feel like he feels a measure of resentment at the fact that Magnus, who was this horrifying stranger that immediately abandoned him, was able to inspire this great love in Lestat but his pretty self wasnt able to do the same with the fledgelings that he turned who were people that he knew and loved in life and/or that he spent decades of his undead existence with
Granted, maybe unlovable isnt the most accurate term to use here bc I dont think that exactly is what matters to him, but I cant think of a better one rn. Actually, now that I think about it, maybe its less about him wanting to convince the general public that he wasnt the pretty pathetic and despicable person Louis described him as, and more about him wanting to convince himself that Louis doesnt actually think of him that way. Or maybe 'cant' is a better word to use here instead of 'doesnt' because the way he says that Louis left out the less dysfunctional parts of their relationship kind of makes me think that Lestat thinks those parts being present makes his feelings and his view of these things unjustified, and I feel like theres a bit of an accusation there that hes purposefully trying to slander him, but the thing is, Louis has way less of an incentive to lie about Lestat than Lestat does to lie about Louis. Like Louis just kinda randomly agreed to do this interview from some guy decades after they last saw each other and then it got published. Even if you said that Louis was somehow masterminding the interview-guy, I just couldnt believe it because I dont see a reason as to why he would do all this and I dont think hes the kind of guy who just does shit for no reason. I also dont think hes nearly as spiteful as Lestat to do this. Also the idea that he would try to slander like this is stupid because who would care about this. Like, humans just see it as fiction and vampires are mad about him giving out the names and locations of vampires but I dont think they actually care about this niche insane relationship drama. And frankly, I feel like Lestat is just way more deluded. Like he calls Louis and Nikolas cynics but Im just like, no, I think those guys are realists and youre prone to delusions of grandeur. but then Im a pretty cynical person myself, so I would say that, wouldnt I
That actually leads really nicely to the second thing that makes me find him really pathetic, and its basically just the entirety of the last three or four chapters. Or, I guess I wouldve called them pathetic if it didnt look like they were at least kind of true ?
Okay so, while I was reading those last few chapters I was basically thinking to myself "okay, Lestat is obviously just making all of this up, I predict that the next book is gonna have a bit where Louis is like 'yeah, I read that autobiography of his and I guess i cant confirm or deny most of it bc he never fucking told me anything, but he just completely made that last bit up, I never went to come find him, and infact, now that hes done this ive decided that Im only communicating with him via passive aggresive autobiographies in which we continously debunk each others claims about our relationship'" because its just. come on, did those chapters not feel like a self-indulgent daydream? Like, "i was looking out the window the day before my big concert when my ex-boyfriend that I still love showed up and I went outside to see him and he was looking really bad in his jeans and sweatshirt but its fine bc i love him, and he hugged and kissed me just like he used to, like a lover <3, and he was sooooooo concerned for my safety and he asked me to just stay with him forever but this time I was the one to reject him, but then I still managed to convince him to go to my concert with me and we kissed before the show started and he was in the audience cheering me on after that, and it was the best concert anyone has ever seen and I felt so awesome standing on that stage, and then once it was over we were attacked by some of my vampiric h8ers but it was all good because my mom appeared out of nowhere to save us and she was wearing modern clothes obviously but otherwise she was exactly the same as when she abandoned me 200 years ago" hey buddy, i thought you were writing an autobiography not fanfiction about how you wish the people you love would stop abandoning you
Louis' behaviour for this whole section is the main thing that ticks me off because I felt that he was just so out-of-character. And obviously the characters that feature prominently in both books are quite different in both of them, but they are still recognizable as themselves which was not the case with Louis imo. And granted, there is a pretty significant gap between me reading the first book and me reading this one so my memory is a little foggy about everything that happened in it, but Louis was just way too outwardly-lovey-dovey for someone who, when talking about their relationship to an unrelated third party 11 years ago, decades after they last saw each other, at best seemed to look back on all that with complicated resentment. Like I just dont buy it at all.
But again, I was reading all that with the assumption that this would (at least partially) turn our to be made-up, and yknow, it still might I guess, hope is the thing that dies last and all, but Im a lot less convinced of that because of the stuff with Akasha
And now its finally time to talk about my criticisms regarding the story and theyre all linked to Akasha and her cringefail husband and honestly Marius too. Im curious if this is a hot take or if this stuff is something that a lot of people dont like. Like, if youre immersed in the book fandom please tell me if this is a thing where you read that I have some criticisms of the story and you immediately knew it was gonna be this, or if youre surprised because the majority of people find the lore very interesting. But when youre telling me, please do so without spoiling me, Ive come this far knowing a very minimal amount about these books and I would very much like to keep it that way and finish all of these books until I start to fully engage with the fandom but I am very curious. Also, I am open to discuss all of this if any of you would like that, just please respect that fact that I dont know anything that happens in later books and that I would like to keep it that way
But anyway. Full disclosure, I already didnt like Marius when Lestat met him in person, I thought he was interesting as a component of Armand's backstory but I really didnt want him to still be alive and I didnt want Lestat to find him and speak to him and then he not only did both of those things, but he was like super buddy-buddy with him in a way that bothered me. And as if all of that wasnt enough, he goes on this lore dump that lasts like 9 chapters that is so fucking boring I dont even have the words to adequately describe just how bored and tired I was reading it. And the things that were revealed in this loredump were just weird and baffling in a distinctly bad way, and I feel like usually when you get stupid worldbuilding in books that are trying to Say Something its to enhance the themes of the plot, but I cant possibly imagine how any of this stuff with Akasha and her cringefail husband and the demons who possessed them does that
Like, the main thing that I find compelling about Anne Rice's vampires is their humanity and the fact that their moral and existential dilemmas are fundamentally the same as the ones that humans face because theyre essentially just more durable humans, and while this origin story doesnt change anything about that on a deeper level, it still really bothers me. Because humans dont have this clean epic symbolic origin story where we all came from two people that can easily be named, we just kinda evolved into existence for no grand, religious, immediately-obvious reason, but we ponder our own collective existence anyway, just like these vampires. Hell, plenty of us even think lf ourselves as monsters of destruction who shouldnt exist for the way we hurt our environment and other creatures. And like, Im not saying that they should be talking about evolution in the 1700s or that I explicitly want it said that vampires evolved alongside humans because that would just be stupid in a new way, but idk. I guess what Im trying to say is that I really didnt need an explanation for how these vampires came into existence because I was engaged enough with their philosophical discussions and fucked up relationship dynamics that it didnt even cross my mind to ask any questions about their collective origin.
And just on a basic level, none of this ancient vampire history-bullshit satisfied me in any way. Also, the whole descriptions of everything in ancient egypt and whatever-that-keltoi-place-was-called just felt kinda off, like they were lacking the authenticity of all the other descriptions, and its not because we didnt spend a whole novel exploring those places because we only got a very brief snipped of Armand's backstory and that part wasnt lacking at all. I was initially ready to chalk this up to a classic combination of orientalism and racism, but honestly, given that the parts about the super-pale blonde people werent that much better in this regard, I think its mostly a case of us just not knowing a lot about these ancient peoples. Like, I dont know a lot about 1700s France or 1800s America but when I read about those places in these books I do get the impression that Anne Rice knows a lot about those places or that she did a lot of a research on them, whereas with ancient egypt and the keltoi-place Im just kinda like "well, this is obviously just a bunch of madeup bullshit innit". And it really frustrates me that I cant really tell if its meant to be made-up bullshit in-universe or if its meant to be true, but I guess Im gonna have to get used to that feeling if I wanna keep having a fun time reading The Unreliable Narrator Chronicles books
Regardless of the actual bullshit-status of Marius' stories though, I was quite surprised and very disappointed that Lestat seemed to just believe it with no issues. Like, 1984!Lestat didnt add any commentary to Marius claims, he just repeated them verbatim bc why not, and 1700s!Lestat didnt have any questions or doubts that I can remember. And like, even if it is true, why was he just okay with that being the truth, I feel like he should at the very least be a little angry at the revelation that theres these oldass vampires who have to stay alive or else all the other vampires will die. Again, to kindof tie this back to my previous point, humans arent like that, we dont have some kind of anker-point that needs to stick around or else we'll all die, so this doesnt feel like its adding anything to the existentialist themes of the series. Its also logistically kinda stupid because we're told all of vampire kind is tied to both of them but like, how does that work? What if you only killed one of them) Are all the female vampires tied to Akasha and all the male ones to her cringefail husband, or are all the vampires that Akasha bit connected to her and then all the vampires that were bit by her vampires are connected to her through their makers as well and so on and so on? Iirc we're told that if you killed one of them, you would kill the other or they would just kill themself or something so it wouldnt really matter, but like, if you could just kill one of them without the other one ending up dead, what would happen?
And like, theres things about these vampires that dont really make any sense, like the fact that their fingernails look like glass or even bigger things like the fact that drinking dead blood is very harmful but drinking blood from other undead people has a healing effect, but those things dont put a huge damper on the series' themes so far so I dont care about them
But anyway, the thing that bothers me the most about all this is that Lestat didnt see or acknowledge the obvious similarities between what Marius was telling him and what Armand's coven used to believe. Like, what's the difference, really, between "vampires were created by the devil and are servants of the devil (aka demons)" and "vampirism was created by a demon and then given to two humans who them created other vampires"? I guess its the fact that Marius doesnt let his belief prevent him from enjoying life, but then it doesnt really feel like Lestat needed to talk to this guy, or like hes actually as open-minded as Marius said he was. Like, Marius basically told him "unlike most people, youre genuinely open-minded because youre listening to what I have to say about how to gain meaning in life" and Lestat, who basically already believed the same things as Marius when it came to that before they ever even met, said "yes i totally agree"
On a similar note, how fucking convinient that Lestat had this weird improbable idea about Osiris being a vampire god and then it basically turned out to be true. Like not literally, but the two people whose story directly inspired Osiris and Isis were both vampires and theyre like, the first vampires. what are the odds of that
Also Im pretty sure Marius said something along the lines "most people dont like what I tell them about the origin of vampires because they want a clean creation myth and thats not what happened" before he started talking about it, but then it was just a clean creation myth ? Like, in a previous paragraph I said that humans dont have an origin where everyone is descendet from two people, and as I was writing that I noticed that the story about Anasha and her cringeful husband is remarkably similar to that of Adam and Eve. or maybe not remarkably similar, but similar enough that I feel like Im not reaching when I say that
And of course this is a story with characters that are unreliable narrators on purpose so all of this might be 100% intentional and might pay off somehow at some point, but Im not really gonna know until I read the next one I guess and Im gonna have a hard time motivating myself to do that when the ending of this one was so bad (to me!!).
Idk, basically what Im hoping for right now is that this series will comtinue to deconstruct and retcon itself, both because that keeps me on my toes in a way thats fun (especially because Im going in completely blind) and because godddddd I really dont want to deal with any of the stuff involving Anasha, i think its all so stupid. I really hope that in the next book it turns out that atleast the stuff about all vampires' lives being tied to hers turns out not to be true and thats shes just gonna be a strong old vampire whos special because of her super strong psychic powers and because her blood makes other vampires strong (which is another concept I really dont jive with, the stuff with older vampires being strong and making strong vampires, but I dont really have much to say about it beyond that, so I'll just leave it at this). But honestly, Im really just hoping that in order to not disappoint myself too mucj, in my truest heart of hearts Im actually hoping that Lestat just decided to dip his toes into fiction writing 97% into his autobiography and then that Queen of Darkness is gonna be an in-uinverse fiction book written by Lestat de Lioncourt
But again, I probably wont feel like finding out for a little while, and as I think about it Im noticing that its mostly because Im not looking forward to having the same borderline-spiritual experience that I had with The Vampire Lestat, where I entered this monk-like state of mind and then walked through the city to the busstation feeling like I wasnt occupying the same reality as everyone else around me, with this book that I have a suspicion that I will not like it. And before you ask, yes, I know that I would have the same experience because it had basically nothing to do with the plot or themes of The Vampire Lestat, its just that my legs were hurting because I had been sitting on a wood chair with no pillow and continuously rocking back and forth because thats how I stim when Im sitting, and also my brain felt fried from how I forced myself to focus and read this book whose language is pretty challenging for a non-native speaker for 8 hours straight
Anyway, this ended up being way longer than anticipated but Im glad. Believe it or not, even though most of this post was just me complaining about one thing or another, I did like this book and I like that it made me think all this and that it made me feel passionate enough to write it all down, even though I do genuinely dislike the ending and am not really looking forward to reading the next one. But I definitely will do it at some point, so dont take this as a sign to tell me what happens in it, I maintain that I do not want to be spoiled. If one of my hopes ends up coming true and you want to encourage me to read it that way for some reason, please only do so in the vagues possible terms. like literally just tell me "ayyyyyy youre right 👍" without eleborating. And if you want to be evil, you can tell me that even though my predictions arent true and make my disappointment even more crushing that way ^^
Alright, thats it, I hope you enjoyed this.
