you know TID wouldn’t be that bad if Tessa wasn’t an insufferable main character who only really cared about Will or if there was less of Will and more of Gabriel Gideon Sophie Cecily and Jem and it wouldn’t be as bad if CC didn’t write it
it could actually be a genuinely good series. a time period where warriors fight some evil thing where you have the sweetest man to exist (Jem duh) and you have a strict but dry sense of humor brother (Gideon duh) and you have the fun but needs to learn his lesson and always has some shit to say brother (Gabriel duh) and a maid servant who has a complex history and has been through a lot and who decides they want to be a warrior too (Sophie duh) and I guess if you have to add Tessa and Will but actually make them tolerable. and you add a fiery young woman who doesn’t have time for any shit and just wants to be the best young warrior (Cecily duh)
like that’s actually not that bad of a series. but of course cc had to take the Greek meaning of parabatai + make it super one sided + make only one character matter for the entirety of the series and ruin everything
look I know it’s not easy writing, I write my own stuff but if CC taught me anything, it’s to never release my shit because I hate on all her books so damn much lmao (she deserves it though) and I do not take criticism well. (anyone who has read my bitchposts knows I’m extra feeling and extra dramatic about everything) but if you can’t handle heavy topics and ruin everything what a series could be, take a class. she’s made enough money to learn how to write 💀
she literally turned everything that could be great about TID and TLH and just fucking massacred it
RIP WHAT YOU COULD HAVE BEEN TID AND TLH

FUCK YES!! sorry but I absolutely called it! Lucifer is a silly guy!
Excessive ramble/theory tid bits ahead!~
How can you look at him and think he won't be a silly little guy? People saying he'd be a big intimidating scary king of hell? No way dude just look at him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And like the way he looks so upset in Ep1 when he lost his ability to create. That's not the face of a guy seeking revenge and filled with anger, that dude is just plain ol' depressed. The way he slowly just walks off screen...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lilith on the other hand? She is the definition of girlboss.
She's out here inspiring all the demons. Look at that power. She's in control. She's in charge.
While Lucifer's in his depressive state she's out here trying to lead all of hell. She's vengeful, (ik reds are quite a common colour in Hazbin Hotel) but the way it emanates in a glow behind her combined with her pose. It's just shows so much power and malice. You cannot convince me otherwise that she hasn't been pulling the strings since day 1.
Tumblr media
I'd even go as far as to say she was the one who had the idea to tell Lucifer to give Eve the apple. Just look at her stance as she stands back to see Lucifer going over to Eve, overlooking the plan. She knows what's up.
Tumblr media
(Also just a note but Eve looks so sad here. Girlie is trapped with Adam like she's in her own personal type of Hell. Btw I'd like to throw a theory out there that Eve and Lilith are sisters)
Ngl I do think Lucifer and Lilith split because of this whole power dynamic. Like Lucifer just couldn't keep up with Lilith's ideas or didn't believe in them. Like, Lucifer tells Charlie in Ep5 that Hell and it's people are terrible. This contradicts Lilith's whole thing of wanting to round up all the demons and potentially lead a fight. She THRIVES in Hell. For Lucifer, it's just constant punishment.
I feel like Charlie despite looking up to Lilith, is experiencing quite a bit of miscommunication. They both want to save the demons but in different ways. Charlie's way being through redemption but Lilith's maybe being through a war against Heaven.
Now it's just figuring out where the hell (pun not intended but enjoy) she's been for the past 7 years. (Honestly, I think she's just been off plotting with Eve.)
Another side note, but like the way Alastor just stares at this portrait in the pilot for such a weird prolonged amount of time is not helping my Lilith and Alastor theories calm down. Bro is the radio demon and is broadcasting everything back to Lilith.
Tumblr media
He 100% sold his soul to Lilith, tried breaking free, but couldn't.

Pt 1 of why season two of shadowhunters is terrible
So even dividing these by seasons it was way too long for me to post on here while keeping my self respect, so enjoy this essay? about the yin fen plot line because i will die mad about it.
For some background information, in season two episode four of the shadowhunters tv show, there is a demon attack inside the institute. The specific demon of this episode was allegedly created by Valentine to attack the institute through possessing shadowhunters. Did we forget the plot of City of Fallen Angels? Shadowhunters cannot be possessed (with some exceptions but the show came out before tlh anyways). They all have certain protection spells put on them as infants to keep them from being possessed. Apparently not in the show though.
Both Isabelle and Alec get possessed by the demon, with Alec killing Jocelyn and Izzy getting stabbed by Clary since that was all it took to release the demon and kill it. Isabelle’s wound gets infected and it’s not healing but she refuses to go to the infirmary to get it looked at. Victor Aldertree (a made up character who has a combination of Imogen Herondale’s successor’s name and the inquisitor from tid's name who is running the institute for the first half of the season and he’s british and person of color so we know he’s evil), was sending a team to go see the iron sisters to ask why Valentine wanted to steal the mortal sword. Izzy had apparently wanted to be an iron sister when she was a child (she didn’t in the books btw) and goes to his office to volunteer to lead the mission. Aldertree asks to check Isabelle’s wound because he used to be a field medic. He confirms that it was infected and gives yin fen to fix it. He presents her with this silver gel that goes on the spine and applies it for her. Ok, fine. Maybe there have been some modifications to the drug since Jem took it and since it was on the ship bringing Jace to New York. I can get past the form of it. What I can’t get past is that in the next episode we find out that yin fen in the show is made from vampire venom. Not poison from Yanluo, but vampire venom. Saying that it’s made from vampire venom and not poison from a greater demon does so much already to diminish the danger of it. Vampires bite people all the time. If you die because of a vampire, it’s because they drank all of your blood, not because you overdose on their venom. Vampire venom doesn’t cause searing pain and hallucinations like what Jem described from Yanluo.
In the next episode, Izzy sees that Aldertree has run out of yin fen and spends the episode trying to track some down. She meets this one warlock in the Hunter's Moon and asks for it, to which he says, “dancing with the devil, are we?” What the fuck? Why is it so dangerous? There’s no evidence in this show that implies that you can overdose from it or that there are harmful effects on your body other than the withdrawal. Then, to add insult to injury, Magnus swoops in to kick the warlock out of the bar because apparently he’s been banned from North America and mentions how yin fen almost killed Jem. No! You do not get to change everything about a substance other than its name and color and then name drop Jem. This is not what almost killed him. Jem spent five years of his life dying from a drug that was essentially a bastardized medicine and was sapping his life and energy more than it was giving it to him. We see in Clockwork Prince and Clockwork Princess how it affected the werewolves who were being given too much of it by Mortmain. He was making them take it six to seven times a day and as Jem said, “The more you take the faster you die.” In the books, there is no scenario where you become addicted to yin fen where it does not kill you. It’s not a “typical” drug like it is shown to be in the show.
But back to the plot of the show, Isabelle goes to see some vampires to ask for their venom because that’s what yin fen is made of. Raphael swoops in and saves her and she collapses into his arms. After some convincing he bites her, giving her venom. After this, they start a relationship which is just them essentially being addicted to each other - Izzy being addicted to his venom and Raphael being addicted to her blood. I don’t know how we got to shadowhunter blood being addictive for vampires, but apparently it is. The most we know about it in the books is that Simon almost completely drained Jace of blood in City of Ashes, but that could have been because Jace has extra angel blood even for a shadowhunter, the fact that Simon was just practically drained of all of his own blood, or that Simon was so new to being a vampire. Simon also bites Izzy and Alec and is completely fine and unaddicted. Even if you take away the weird addiction plot, Raphael is a canonically aroace character. He’s still asexual in the show, but no longer aromantic. I’m pretty sure the reason they did this was because they drew out the climon plotline to be agonizingly long so they felt that they needed to put Izzy with somebody romantically, but it doesn’t change the fact that it is so terrible that they took away one of the only aroace characters I can think of. After Alec finds out about the yin fen and her relationship with Raphael, they have a fight that ends with her going back to Raphael and him going to the institute. Then Valentine attacks the institute because he needs its angelic power core to be able to activate the mortal sword so that it can emit a heavenly light that will kill any downworlders in its path. Obviously this is a huge change from the demonic conversion ritual he was trying to do in the books, and it doesn’t even make sense. I’ll talk more about this change in another part, but that’s the plot of the mid-season finale. Alec ends up confronting Aldertree about how he gave Isabelle yin fen and they fight circle members on the rooftop when Isabelle comes in and saves them because she had found her phone that Raphael hid because he and other downworlders were going to kill Clary because if she touches the sword while it’s plugged in to the angelic power core it will be able to emit the heavenly light because of her extra “pure” angel blood. Anyways, Isabelle collapses into Alec’s arms after that one burst of energy and we get a shot of Aldertree looking guilty. Then she breaks up with Raphael at the end of the episode.
The next time we see her she’s going through withdrawal. Surprise, it’s not what Jem goes through in Clockwork Princess. She never coughs up blood, she doesn’t lose all the color in her hair, eyes, and skin. She just seems to be going through a “typical” drug withdrawal, although I don’t know enough about that so I can’t really talk much about the accuracy of it. Alec tells everyone that Izzy just has the flu and leaves her alone because there are demon attacks going on. Izzy immediately goes to the Hotel Dumort to ask Raphael to bite her. There’s an awkwardly framed shot of her pulling a seraph blade on him and getting upset when he says no (I guess shadowhunter blood is less addictive than yin fen?) and then she stalks off to the alleyway where they met and sees the greater demon who is the focal point of the episode. Her necklace breaks bc of all his demon energy or something and then another british shadowhunter comes and saves the day. It is no other than Sebastian Verlac! Again, he’s british so we know he’s evil and also purposefully burns himself with a tea kettle later in this episode, but more on that in another post. Sebastian brings Izzy back to his apartment and gives her this extract of a root from L’isle Adam which she just takes. Then she’s fine! There’s a few passing mentions of her talking about it with people and Simon recommends narcotics anonymous meetings for her and she goes to them, but the people there think she’s talking about heroin. The plot comes back to mess with a Sizzy plotline briefly in season three which was not the worst because it led to a cute (i use this term very lightly) Alec and Isabelle scene.
Now for the reason I am writing this, Jem Carstairs and how this is a disgrace to his character. In the literal sense, Jem is a drug addict. He says so himself after he and Will find the dying werewolf in Clockwork Prince and compares his dependence to yin fen to the opium addicts in Shanghai when he tells Tessa about it in Clockwork Angel. He gets so angry at Will for doing drugs in Clockwork Prince that he actually punches him (something that is so out of character for him that Will could barely believe he had done it when Tessa told him the next day) because he was so angry that Will was toying with what had destroyed his life. The important thing to note is that when these comparisons do happen in the books, they come from Jem himself. When other people, such as Gabriel, draw the comparison it’s used to further villainize them, because the books make sure to make it clear that Jem is not a drug addict in the typical sense, such as how Izzy was portrayed in the show. This is because Jem was never meant to represent drug addicts, but instead described in the forward of Clockwork Princess to be “condemned to die young of a fatal demonic illness, no matter how desperate the efforts to save him, just as in reality victims of consumption sickened and died without penicillin.” It’s also made clear throughout the books that Jem despises needing yin fen, he hates that it keeps him from living as full a life as Tessa or Will could. It’s why he ends up in the situation he was in during Clockwork Princess, he took more of the drug to seem healthier for Tessa, even at the cost of dying faster and therefore getting less time with her. Not only does this plotline essentially negate all of those feelings, but it gives Jem the label that everyone in these books try to argue against, that Jem is nothing more than the average drug addict, someone who most of the other shadowhunters view as someone weak and less than them. He can’t just stop taking yin fen like Izzy could in the show, because yin fen is pretty much a death sentence for anyone who becomes addicted to it, not a normal drug, and this is not the story that yin fen was created to tell. They could have literally just changed the name of the drug and not mentioned Jem in ep 7 and I would be still be upset but not this upset abt it.

Hope you dont mind me sending more. Your fav ships edition
🔥 Thomastair 🔥 Jordelia 🔥 Wessa 🔥 Sophiegideon 🔥 Arianna (I think theyre a fav? Not sure)
HA well I obviously want to gush about some of these but this is Unpopular Opinion Time and I'm gonna do my darndest to be unpopular
Thomastair -> I think this is an unpopular opinion that a lot of people don't realize that they subconsciously contradict. Thomas is not an Alastair extension. He is more than a love interest. He is a bright person who shines on his own and with friends, too, and he has a complex personality and, believe it or not, a full range of emotions. I don't think that anyone active in the current Thomastair fandom treats Thomas like this, but a lot of other TLH fans who aren't focused on Thomastair very much view them as "Alastair and the other guy" and I hate it. Another related opinion: Thomas is a grown man who can take care of himself and not a helpless woobie. He can clean up his own messes. He can boil water or slap together a sandwich. He has critical thinking skills. He's smart and has his own opinions. Fandom should treat him like it!
Herondaisy -> I love them together but I wish they were given more agency in their own narrative. Cordelia feels like she frequently gets swept up by the plot, and she sometimes feels like she doesn't have control over her own story. I want her to. I do like that she actively chooses James and wants to be with him, I think it's a great facet of her character and their relationship. But yeah, it's that. Also I LOVE THEIR DOMESTIC SCENES and maybe that's unpopular idk
Wessa -> Lmao this ship is treated so terribly in the book canon. One of the best ships ever written, Cassie developed them beautifully in TID, and they did not deserve to be treated as a blip in another couple's century-long love story that the creator (and a good portion of the fandom) clearly subconsciously consider the True Endgame. Fuck that.
Sophiegideon -> I don't think I have any unpopular opinions, they're delightful and I love them. Also they have three delightful children and I love all of them, too. The genes really worked in their favor.
Arianna -> Actually not a "favourite ship," but I do like them. However, I primarily like them because I've banged them into shape with my headcanons. In canon, unless they really communicate and do the work, they're really incompatible. Anna will need a total personality overhaul to accommodate Ari's (totally valid and awesome) desire to basically be a tradwife mom. I don't think she can do it based on where she is at the end of ChoT. I think that in 2-5 years, sure, but they need to wait a while to adopt a baby. I want them in Better in Black so I can put my trepidations to rest. I think Cassie would do a good job with them if she wrote them in an established relationship.

man i feel like shit... im not trying to be terrible but goddamn im just sensitive to what people are saying and how they're treating me. i feel expendable and i cant do shit right but im *not* trying to be like this on purpose. and i feel like i cant ask anything but i'll have to do things for others bc im just expendable right? let me feel useful to someone/anyone bc i sure am not feeling it towards myself or those i care about. it feels stupid.nall pf it. i feel stupid for feeling like this. i feel stupid for letting others being flippant get yo me when in reality it doesnt mean anything at all..i just want to have fun and do my best im not trying to be a fuck up. but theres no room for me to express myself or explain myself anymore. the walls are caving in again and i think i want to let the rubble take me slow and painful. its what everyone seems like they would want. like the demolition of a building the city was dying to get tid of. the applause of the realtor and plot owner happily gazing upon a new possibility. its just me coming down beneath it all though. theyd be happy and relieved.

Writing Inspo: Utilize that body language!
Our body language says so much about us. It even differs across nationalities (Americans tend to rest their body weight on one foot, while Europeans tend to stand equally on both for example)
We see it on our posture. It’s in the way we walk. If someone moves their hands while they’re speaking, and how those movements are...
So here are some places I love to stick body language, and body language stuff I love to point out in my writing!
Body Language Moments
Show me
How a character laughs, smiles, maybe a facial expression they always tend to make for the same reasons
How their posture is. Do they slouch? Is it unusually upright? Is it casual, average, terrible?
How a character walks, maybe even runs
How they may talk with their hands, what those movements look like
Where they’re balancing their weight
Any fidgets they have and when those fidgets activate
Characterization & Body Language
As mentioned before characterization is something I try to show off every chance I get. When writing I often try to live by making every sentence either further the plot, worldbuilding or characters. A great moment to explore character includes utilizing body language.
Show me
A character is apathetic -> They don’t care about their health -> A posture so bad modern doctors sob at the sight of it
Someone who is energetic -> They bounce back and forth on the balls of their feet
A character is very expressive -> They exaggerate their dialogue by madly waving their hands about
Two close friends/romantic interests -> They lean in closer when talking to each other
Bromance going on? -> A character playfully shaking the leg of another as they both laugh
A shy character -> A character bursting into laughter, only to immediately try to hide their laugh with their hands
A confident character hiding their insecurities -> Another character finally picks up and notices their nervous fidget, but never has the heart to confront them
Also
Even the most uniform characters have body language. In fact often their uniformity and uptightness is their body language.
Often times body language is a dead give away to what we mean, and not what we say
If you stripped all humans from being able to talk we could still easily communication using our body language
We subconsciously communicate with our body language everyday, whether it’s raising your eyebrows at a weird comment, leaning into a interesting conversation, maybe even smirking when we succeed at something we’re always talking with our bodies
Body language can also help break up dialogue, in fact it often is a part of dialogue.
Dialogue:
“You saw it too...”, He lamented.
“Yeah I did.”
“What are we going to do?!”
I admitted, “I don’t know”
“Well we have to do something”
“I have an Idea. Let’s catch them while they’re off guard!”
This dialogue isn’t bad. However it could be greatly improved and better broken up with some body language.
“You saw it too...”, He lamented. He could barely look me in the eyes as he said it.
“Yeah I did.”
“What are we going to do?!”
Glancing up I found him finally looking towards me. I just shrugged, nothing came to mind, nothing but what we weren’t supposed to see.
“Well we have to do something.”
We both just sat in silence, awkwardly looking around the room. I launched up from my chair suddenly, and a gasp escaped from my mouth. Like always it caused my friend to flinch, but this time a smirk patterned his face with hope.
“I have an idea. Let’s catch them while they’re off guard!”
Yes I also added a tid bit of inner speech there (another good tool to slow pacing if you need it, and break up dialogue) But see you already know a bit more about the characters emotions, and what they’re like.
Anyway that’s all the inspiration I got to spread. Again as I always say don’t take my word as strict teaching and rules. Use it to inspire you!

Tumblr media
Clare’s revisionism and the little care she had for Alec or Magnus in the early days comes all the more apparent in this chapter. It’s awkward and terrible and I can’t believe The Red Scrolls of Magic actually exists after reading this crap again.
In the end of the previous chapter, Magnus has reveal that Camille is her former girlfriend. Alec is astonished by this fact despite that he supposedly was aware of this.
Tumblr media
Let’s take a look at this quote from TRSoM:
Leon glanced around, then said rapidly, “I mean, we’re both bisexual. Interested in men and women.”
“Oh,” said Alec. “I don’t know a lot about that, but again, good for you.”
Alec knew Magnus was the same way. He had begun to learn that there was a whole world he had been entirely cut off from, words like ‘bisexual’ and ‘pansexual’ he’d never really known.
[…] In the dark small corners of his soul, Alec worried sometimes. Why would Magnus choose him if he could choose a girl, a woman, an easier life? He thought of how terrified he’d been once of how he would be judged.
There is no way to combine these two scenes and say that Alec did not know that Magnus would’ve also dated women. Underlining “girl” shows Alec is astonished that Magnus has not dated solely men, although according to Clare’s revisionism, Alec knows this.
Also because of this Alec characterization is also in complete shambles. In TRSoM, Alec is understanding and does not pry, yet here, in CoFA, he is demanding that knowledge in front of other people, because Clare has always treated them as a spectacle than give them one-on-one scenes.
Alec, read the fucking room.
Tumblr media
Me neither.
Tumblr media
It does no favors to write Magnus like this, pitifully staring after Alec who has just acted immaturely and out of jealousy, because he is of great age, because it all the more heavily underlines what a terrible basis their relationship has. The imbalance of power, the difference of age, Alec being incredibly young and inexperienced, Magnus essentially withholding his life and anything about him from Alec. It’s bad and incredibly disturbing.
We cut back to Clary and Jace as if it makes anything any better.
Tumblr media
As if it is solely Clary’s responsibility to take care of Jace and Jace’s self-imposed problems, when all of this could’ve been solved if Jace was actually honest and cared about other people more than wallowing in self-pity and imposing his own suppositions on others instead of communication.
The plot is trying to happen, but it is buried underneath all this Loves Me, Loves Me Not.
Tumblr media
No, it is not strange. This has been regurgitated over and over how Jace still thinks that, in some ways, Valentine is his father, and Clary, who has never knows Valentine, does not. This is nothing to point out anymore. This is a nonissue. Scrap the whole highlighted part and we can move on from these idle thoughts.
Tumblr media
Jonathan/Sebastian goes through his name transformation in this book. But Jace never likes when he is called Jonathan, because he is Jace. Not liking to use a name because it’s same as yours is just dumb.
→ He doesn’t want to call him Jonathan either, Clary thought, though it was evident from Jace’s words and should not be underlines gazillion times that this book does. “Sebastian is dead,” she said, a little more...
We cut to Magnus’ PoV where he’s talking with Camille and are served with The Infernal Devices references.
Tumblr media
After this, the story goes wild with TID references. Not really, but it stands out when the first half of it the amount is zero.
Tumblr media
I can’t deal with all this frivolous drama prodding when there are other underlying issues that just Alec resembling Will and Alec being subsequently jealous about it because Magnus refuses to disclose anything.
Tumblr media
Magnus and Camille don’t talk about anything Alec should not, under any circumstance, hear. This, again, should be another nonissue. Acting as if you have something to hide rarely builds up trust additionally refusing to tell anything about your life.
Cut back to Clary and Jace. They talk, they figure things out.
Tumblr media
We love moments of self-awareness, though the downside is that it never leads to anywhere. Will Clary stop being so Jace-centered? No. Will she become more aware of other people around her? Also no.
Tumblr media
So, what I have gathered:
→ Pregnant human injected with demon blood: Stillborn devil baby → Pregnant human injected with demon and Shadowhunter blood: Stillborn devil baby → Humans injected with demon blood: Death → Human impregnated by a demon: A warlock → Pregnant Shadowhunter injected with demon blood: Devil baby → Pregnant Shadowhunter injected with angel blood: More angelic baby → Shadowhunter and a demon: Unable to procreate → Unmarked Shadowhunter impregnated by a demon: A unique warlock
Clary and Jace agree that Jace is being beckoned by demonic powers, so they leave for Silent City in order to ask help from the Silent Brothers. The Silent Brothers look into Jace’s mind in order to ascertain what is the problem with him.
Tumblr media
Clary, knowing full well how secrets only hinder and hurt things, still refuses to fess up.
Tumblr media
It is not solely on Clarissa Morgenstern to tell the truth. Jace is equally culpable for keeping his death a secret. Also, Jace is so cool and sympathetic because he doesn’t care about dying.
Clary is also incredibly indifferent about her Shadowhunter name.
Tumblr media
Hi, Jem. 👋 It’s a shame you weren’t there because Hodge didn’t know that kids have faces.
Here Brother Zachariah calls Jace with the name he goes by, Jace Lightwood. But as it is, everyone in this book is insistent on calling Herondales Herondales whether they want it or not.
Tumblr media
There is no sense in this. It is Zachariah that continues talking. He called Jace “Jace Lightwood” and then immediately after goes “Jonathan Herondale”, like why?
Tumblr media
What is this magical age eighteen? Why is it eighteen? Why does the magic work like that and stop working at eighteen? Alas, the book refuses to answer.
Clary reluctantly leaves Jace in the Silent City so the Brothers can take care of the consequences of keeping Jace’s death a secret. We cut to Simon and Jordan. Someone has delivered a newspaper under their door. The newspaper features an article about a girl who has been found murdered. This girl is Maureen, the girlfriend the tracksuit gang was trying to use to extort Simon.
Tumblr media
This is the only thing I think is done well in this book. Maureen being the “girlfriend” is such a side note to everything going on, and the story leads you to believe that the threat must be about Clary, Maia, or Isabelle, especially when it is Clary who is at the time making her way to the address Simon was extorted to go as well.
This was a well-executed diversion, and the only positive thing I have to say.

I'm done with Chain of Thorns, people! FINALLY. I have been holding my breath until the end. I feared that something unexpected would happen in the epilogue and ruin our happy ending, but I was wrong.
I mean, there were loose ends, like Jordelia's honeymoon, Matthew's trip (which I believe is the character CC will write short stories about), or Malcom approaching Lucie for her promise and telling her he went to faerie to understand how to raise Annabel. We know from TDA that he got that poem from the king about Blackthorn blood, and he was eyeing Jesse warily. I can see a future story where Malcom tries to harm Lucie and Jesse's children for his necromancy purposes, but then again, it would repeat some of the story we've already seen in TDA with the modern Blackthorn, so I'm not sure.
This could, however, still open a new story if CC decides to write about the kids of the TLH characters... which I'm so upset we know nothing about??? I thought that we would get a sort of glimpse into the future like we did in TID, but maybe it's better this way, so we can conjure up our plots about the descendants. Anyway, I must say, I was scared for this book because I thought it would be brutal. I thought more people would suffer a terrible fate (did CC say that someone would turn into a vampire? or that someone would have their marks stripped?
Thankfully it didn't happen, but I still feared it would). While this book was frustrating to read (James/Cordelia/Math triangle, I'm looking at you), I really liked it and it made me happy. I had expectations, and most of them were met in this book. Things I had written in my theories, my fan fictions --- things I wished would not be only in my mind, have turned into canon, and made me very, very, happy and warm and fuzzy all over. There were some moments where I smiled and laughed and had tears in my eyes because my heart was so happy to read some scenes, and I don't care if you think I'm silly.
I think that compared to other series like TID (which is still my favorite, TLH comes second) the epilogue felt a little underwhelming because it didn't leave that pang of bitterness and sadness the TID one did, but it's still a satisfying epilogue to me. And I'm thankful that tonight, when I go to bed, I will not cry about the ending (although I'm still bitter about Kit's death) and I will dream nice dreams.
It is like the ending of an era. I've been waiting for this book ever since I've finished CP2 and craved more content with the TID characters and their children. Needless to say, I will not shut up about TSC, now that this series is over. On the other hand, the ending makes me want to write more fan fictions and stuff about it, and make edits. So, be assured that I won't leave this fandom, and you can always send me asks or DM me about it, I'd love to discuss TSC with you.
We made it, guys! 💙🥲

⸸ Love is an Abnormality — I Shall Save Thee (Tid-Bit) ⸸
(A Yandere AU of Lobotomy Corporation. If you don't like OOC and fanon, discretion is adviced)
Pairing: [ Insert!MC ] x O-01-45 (The Plague Doctor)
Art: 'Nocturne' by Ludwig van Bacon
Tumblr media
O-03-03 was supposed to be friendly.
That was what all of the senior agents said. No one thought that the quiet, asocial Abnormality was capable of harming anyone, not even a fly. So when it was first reported that you went on a suicidal rampage in panic, no one believed O-03-03 caused it until your work data suggested otherwise. Not until the Welfare Department had to restrain and medicate you just so the past would stop haunting your every waking moment.
So to say the least, making the higher-ups rewrite O-03-03's article in the Abnormality Encyclopedia wasn't the only problem you have caused.
But even days after that incident report, you were still shaken. One-S was nothing like the testing dummy rabbits you trained on before your first day. You begun to realize that one mistake, one reckless decision was all it would take for something terribly wrong to happen. And if One-S was considered the rookie Abnormality...then what were the other Abnormalities like?
Then, as if sent by the heavens above, someone new came into Lobotomy Corporation. A mysterious man in black that left raven-black feathers in his wake. He kept his face hidden behind the beaked mask of doctors from ages past.
Although he was an Abnormality, O-01-45 immediately became popular among the personnel. The fact that he willingly admitted himself to the facility certainly only added to the intrigue around him.
He was kind. Gentle. Selfless. Three things that you had never heard of since you lived in the Backstreets.
Then, soon, the time came that the Manager has decided that you were well enough to return to work, and your first duty back just so happened to be the mysterious stranger.
--------------
This is a really long plot synopsis...oh my. My apologies. I really carried away with this. (" ;_;)
This isn't the final work on him. In fact, this is just a tid-bit of what's to come for our beloved MC and the Plague Doctor. How I'm seeing this is that various Abnormalities will have different routes, and 'I Shall Save Thee' is the Plague Doctor's route right after One-Sin's.
Basically, home boy is just rebound.
I'm just happy to finally write him (sorry Jesus). If One-Sin was the vanilla route, Plague Doctor's is when things begin to get truly spicy and truly...well, yandere.
Read my previous snippet, 'Confess Thy Sins,' to have a better understanding on what's happening. That was the beginning of MC and One-Sin.
There is also the Redrafted Encyclopedia Details on O-03-03.

tbh Matt is one of my fav characters, and for me was so so bad written in this saga, I specially think it is a bda idea for him to travel alone as he can relapse
Exactly, in my opinion his character has the best idea beside Grace, but it's developed terribly.
I think that in this book Matt was even worse bc he’s trapped in the role of third side of a love triangle, which in my opinion would have been much better if he was in love with James, since he’s canonically bi, he has a much deeper relationship with him than with Cordelia and it would have been a nice parallel with TDA, but CC chose the most stupid option.
Matt will surely relapse, travel is not therapy and while it's true that Shadowhunters don't have therapy or rehab he should anyway receive help.
And about Matt's alcoholism, here is my hot take since Chain of Iron: his friends are shit friends because no one cares about his alcoholism. With James CC uses the bracelet to cover this plot hole so huge it's a chasm, but why Thomas or Lucie or Anna never addressed it? They never had a bracelet. Or, even more, why the adults never realized that Matt was an alcoholic? Will pretended to be drunk 24/7 in TID, I don’t buy that he never realized Matt is actually drunk all the time.
Even worse, in Lucie's POV she says that at James's wedding Matt was "uncharacteristically sober", so they know about his alcoholism, they just don't give a shit.

Okay but is ANYONE ELSE TERRIBLY WORRIED THAT CHOT WILL NOT LIVE UP TO THE EXPECTATIONS?!
I don't care much about the plot (lol, obviously; though I hope it won't be too far-fetched or absurd) , but like, characters and relationships wise? The more I think about it, the more I feel like this book would have to be like 1000 pages long to resolve all the drama/conflicts/character growth etc. that we want it to, and I'm so worried that some of these will be rushed/overlooked. I'm also worried that precious page-space will be used on unnecessarily furthering Jordelia drama, and other characters (*cough cough* Alastair) won't get enough exposure. Like yeah, I know there's always drama, that's fine, but CC doesn't have to keep us on our toes about every single relationship until like, the last chapter.
There's so much to unpack in ChoT. Every single romantic relationship, Alastair unlearning to hate himself/find himself unworthy, him and TMT clearing the air, TMT realising their own faults and apologising for that, Thomastair (more than one scene this time, for fuck's sake) - making up and then just having romantic interactions, Thomas speaking/understanding Persian/Farsi and Alastair singing (yes I deem both of those plotlines of the utmost importance), MATTHEW (don't even get me started, I think we all know just how much he has going on, but for example him talking to his parents, sharing the secret), baby Carstairs, Anna taking some responsibility for her treatment of Kamala, Kamala and Alastair's friendship, Cordelia beginning to trust herself once more, Grace starting to unlearn the twisted ways Tatiana taught her to live by, Grace and Christopher forming a friendship/relationship, Clave's reaction to Lucie, Christopher inventing fire messages, Jessie navigating life again (I doubt there's some "So you've been resurrected: now what?" manuals out there), James coming to terms with how much of his life has been a lie (our boy's about to have a mental breakdown), him and Matthew reconciling, TID gang (or at least Wessa) finding out about fake marriage thing, TID gang (Gideon especially) being a support/father figure for Alastair, everyone trying to step in and help with baby Carstairs, Cordelia and Alastair dealing with their feelings towards Elias...
I'm losing my mind at all this

Chain of Iron Spoilers
It’s been a week since i read it but i’m still not over chain of iron! I just wanted to talk about some characters and i’m gonna start with Alastair, gosh i love him, i love how he supports his sister and love her unconditionally, i love how he cares about his family, i love how he followed Thomas for the patrols bcoz he was worried about him, i love how he don’t wanna be anyone’s secret, i love how he loves Thomas enough to let him go bcoz he thinks Merry thieves will not accept him and i can go on and on. So in general I didn’t have any problems with his character.
Now Matthew, my second favourite character from the book! So apparently half of the people are hating on him bcoz he came in between jordelia. But guys, it is not his fault at all.. and personally i like Matthew and Cordelia dynamic more sometimes bcoz we got to know how their friendship developed through out the series and how they both have a healthy relationship but i still agree on the point that jordelia should be the endgame and fairstairs should have a platonic relationship. And I really, i really wanted atleast one paragraph from Matthew’s POV but we didn’t get it and it makes me anxious about the next book. Is he gonna be killed?become a down worlder? get strip of his ruins? we don’t know! and him missing from the family tree doesn’t help abt it at all. I’m worried abt him the most bcoz.. we don’t get to know what is going on inside his pretty little head bcoz we don’t get his POV. Alas, I just wish he starts loving himself till the end of the series.
Now Cordelia, she is one of my favourite protagonist of all time (after Tessa) and I loved her in Chog but in Choi she was like too perfect aside for the fact that she had terrible communication with other characters (accept for Matthew). And I loved the scene where she demanded James to kiss her to take a revenge. But overall I love love Cordelia.
James, poor James Herondale. It’s like I didn’t like him much in chog bcoz of all the hurt he caused (unintentionally) to Cordelia. But in the second book he totally had me simping over him. And i’ll love to see a confrontation scene between James and Cordelia & James and Matthew in Chot.
Lucie, Lucie, Lucie I personally love her but I am not necessarily happy with the choices she made in the book. I just didn’t like the fact that she had a completely different storyline going on and wasn’t interecting much with Cordelia and Merry thieves in the book. Otherwise i love her and Jesse.
Christopher Lightwood? I fucking adore him and just want more of his scenes in the next book.
Anna&Ariadne (kamala).. tbh i was so excited about them in Choi but they sought of disappointed me. Like Anna was a complete arsehole to Ariadne.. I understand she was heartbroken by Ariadne when she agreed to marry charles. But it’s 20th century we are talking about, not everyone is comfortable with their sexuality like Anna is and she should understand it.
Thomas Lightwood? I just wanna see him happy.
Grace Blackthorn.. I don’t loath her but I don’t like her either lol.
And about Chain of thorn i so want a big twist or something in that one, TLH is a character driven story so I don’t think a plot twist is something which is gonna surprise me. Idk i always like the unexpected ending and that is one of the reasons why i love tid( who could have expected Jem to become a silent brother? And Tessa getting a happy ending with both of them. When i read the clockwork angel i was so sure she’s gonna end up with Will.) So if everyone is gonna end up like as mentioned in family tree i’ll be disappointed. And doing some heartbreaking stuff with Matthew is soughta predictable as well, so overall I just wanna be surprised by the ending.

Also your take on how he was descripted in tlh
I'd need to reread Chain of Gold and Chain of Iron to give a full answer on this because I don't remember a ton from those books, but in Chain of Thorns he and Cecily are done so terribly. We know even less of his reaction to Alexander being kidnapped than we do Cecily's, and we never even get to see his or Cecily's reaction to Christopher's death. His name is only mentioned a total of nine times in Chain of Thorns. I think many of the problems in tlh concerning the characters from tid can be boiled down to the fact that Cassie doesn't seem to know how to write about concerned parents while their kids are doing concerning things other than putting them somewhere else (like she did with Maryse and Robert for a big part of tmi), hence why everyone was in Idris.
Speaking of Idris, it has never made sense for me why he and Cecily moved there during Anna and Christopher's childhood (other than plot purposes, but it doesn't make sense for their characters). Neither of them have ever had a home there - Gabriel because of his very insular upbringing with Benedict and Cecily because she was raised as a mundane with her family. Why would everyone just leave Will and Tessa alone in London? Obviously Henry and Charlotte had to be there as Charlotte was consul and Sophie and Gideon were living there because I'm assuming Gideon had some high ranking job with Charlotte to explain why he seemed to be her right hand man in Cast Long Shadows and to give more credibility to the rumor of Matthew being his child and not Henry's, but why did Gabriel and Cecily move? They were living together with Will and Tessa in The Whitechapel Fiend and seemed to enjoy being one big family especially as their kids are all so close in age.
I wish we saw more of all of the tid cast in tlh, but especially Gabriel and Cecily and them finding out about their own son's death. 😭

Steven Universe Rewatch: Chille Tid
I expected to not like this episode, since I don’t care for dream sequences. I had forgotten that this is the best written episode of the series so far. The jokes are rapid fire and hit every time.
It was so good, I had to go back and see who wrote it.
Tumblr media
Lamar Abrams has done a lot of great work, but it comes as no surprise that this is Lauren Zuke’s first episode. Almost every time I see something in Steven Universe that’s truly excellent, it’s Lauren’s.
I don’t understand the drama that grew around Lauren, and I don’t care. All I need to know is some stupid jerks decided to harass one of the best creative people out there until they decided to leave social media entirely. There’s no excuse for that, no matter what they do on a show.*
On to the episode.
Tumblr media
More shipping fodder for Pearlmethyst.
The plan of “let’s just go out on the ocean and look down” seems pretty terrible.
Tumblr media
Nice line. I like that throughout this conversation Amethyst is apparently murdering Steven.
Tumblr media
This is very cute. I can’t include all the good jokes in this episode or this post is going to be a mile long.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These faces are over the top, but I think it works. Garnet’s delivery is perfect as always.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This entire sleepover scene is just great. Pearl’s awkwardness is so adorable.
Tumblr media
I don’t think there can be a “good” dream sequence in a story, it’s always a waste of time. The best you can get out of a dream is some nice imagery. This episode nails it with the imagery, but it’s also not exclusively a dream. It’s a means of communication, so it’s doing some real work.
Tumblr media
Pearl still hasn’t gotten over Rose. I wonder what the pizza is about?
Tumblr media
This angle is really unusual. I don’t think we’ve seen the room this way before. It makes me feel like Pearl would bang her head on the rafters.
Tumblr media
As I’ve said before, the entire Lapis/Jasper situation doesn’t make sense in a literal reading. Lapis could singlehandedly beat up Jasper with her absurdly overpowered water abilities. The Crystal Gems could beat up Jasper if Lapis just ran off somewhere. We’re supposed to see Lapis as a jailer of an existential threat to humanity and the Earth, but Jasper is just a very formidable fighter. The most dangerous thing she could do is go back to Homeworld and tell them that Rose is still alive.
With this sort of thing, you have to just accept their reading of the situation. Otherwise, the characters seem to be completely deranged.
Tumblr media
The visualization of Jasper and Lapis being trapped together is very cool. Only one of them can be above the water by pulling the other one under. It’s great visual storytelling. If they tried to explain how the magic works, it would be nonsense. This way we can intuitively understand it.
Tumblr media
I still like this design.
Tumblr media
Garnet even goes to sleep like a boss.
If you remember Chille Tid as an episode about just advancing the plot, give it another shot. It does the narrative work, but it’s also one of the most consistently funny episodes of the series, and the characterization is spot on. I haven’t been ranking or grading these episodes, because that’s pointless, but I’d put this alongside Sworn to the Sword, or any other excellent episode.
*Obviously there are limits. If someone does something criminal or sexualizing minors, for example, it makes sense to cancel them. Even then, I don’t think harassing them personally serves a purpose.

Faking, Falling > Part 9
Harrison Osterfield x Reader (Fake dating! Unrequited love switcheroo!)
Word count: ~2.4k words
Warning: Swearing, mentions of anxiety, mild angst and a little fluff if you flinch ;) Also a lot of this may seem bullshit but *shrugs*
Summary: Dreams and reality...
<< PART 8 [ MASTERLIST ] PART 10 >>
Tumblr media
Harrison threw a slightly thick blanket on the floor and a thin one on the top with a pillow. You had slept long before while discussing all the rules of the fake dating thingy. He had nicely tucked you in the bed, kept your notebook, glasses and phone secured on the bedside table, switched off the lights and now he was trying to sleep on the floor, holding a spare pillow tucked under his arm.
No. He couldn't sleep. Maybe because the floor still felt cold and hard on his back. He sat up, switched on that little lamp on the side table and took your notebook. Lying again on the little blanket-bed he made, he flipped through the pages. Occasionally, glancing at the rough sketches of flowers, sceneries, stick models with dresses, he ended up settling on the page you jotted down the rules of your fake dating contract in your handwriting. He started re-reading it.
Rule #1: Being a good listener. Not arguing till the other is finished explaining their stance.
"Believe me, Y/n if we don't stop arguing, there is no way this act is gonna last thirteen days. In a matter of hardly six hours, we have already fought for more than five times. This is far too unstable for any relationship." He had suggested this rule.
Rule #2: Being comfortable with each other. Start with holding hands, sharing glances at each other (not threatening ones), wrapping hands around the other's waist, giving a hug, little kisses on cheeks and forehead etc.
"I know I was the one coming up with this fake relationship thing. But as hard it is for me to accept, still, I will say the truth." You sucked in a breath as he looked at you, waiting for the truth. "Whenever you're sweet to me, I feel as if it's just an act and that you were actually plotting something against me. I am afraid to trust you."
His head hung low as a sharp blow of pain made the way into his heart. Guilt, regret and anger for himself rushed through his veins. His palms were again getting sweaty, it was again becoming hard for him to breathe. And maybe you noticed that. He felt your soft hands on the back of his own hand. He lifted his head to look at you, you were looking at him concerned.
"But I will like to try. I will like to give you a chance. Please make me trust you, Harrison." You pleaded.
Rule #3: Know each other. Like: individual likes, dislikes; having a friendly banter, sharing little tid-bits of life events etc.
"We should know each other better. That's the only way we could develop any understanding between us." You had suggested.
Rule #4: Just one kiss at your friend's wedding reception party, just for show. Or only in situations when it's absolutely necessary.
"We don't need any practice. People turn their heads away when they see people kissing." You told.
"Yeah. If we are comfortable with each other's touch, we could make anyone believe this is real."
That's when he noticed your hand was still on top of his hand. And he gave it a little squeeze. For assurance.
Rule #5: Calling each other with cute nicknames, sometimes.
Rule #6: Doing little stuff like making breakfast etc. to make the other feel special.
Rule #7: Try to be out of the house as much as possible, away from my parents so that we can take this act lightly.
And then the last rule. You both thought you had already ruled out all the necessary things until you said something that made him add another rule to this contract.
"So finally, we are done! Oof." You sighed dramatically looking at the seven rules.
"Yes," Harrison grinned, "But it's going to be tough acting continuously for so long. We need to be extremely alert."
"I may need to work hard but I guess it will be very easy for you." You said making him confused.
"And why's that?"
You rolled onto your back, hands folded beneath your head.
"You have done this before."
"How?" He asked, his eyebrows seemed to connect.
"That's how everything started Harrison! You acted like you liked me a lot for almost a month and then blew everything off at that party. How can you forget?" You said rolling to the other side, facing away from him. He stood there thinking, engulfed in silence and came up with the last rule, a rule you were sure wasn't necessary, but according to him it was:
Rule #8: We will part our ways as soon as the act ends and never meet again.
He closed the notebook reading all the rules and kept it back on the table, switching off the lights. He laid down and closed his eyes in a hope to sleep peacefully.
***
"You would have never done this if it wasn't for her. Right, Harrison?"
The voice startled him. Because it was his own voice. Was he talking in his head? He felt his body tensing. He opened his eyes. And there he was. He.
Harrison could see Harrison standing right in front of him. He looked around. He was sitting inside the costume room of the same studio where he was shooting for his previous role. The costume room you worked in.
"If she was anyone else, you would have treated her worse. Isn't it Harrison? Why is she an exception?" The other Harrison spoke again.
"Who the hell are you and whom are you talking about?" Harrison started to panic. His hands were again sweaty and breath heavy. The other Harrison chuckled and moved to sit across him.
"I am you, Harrison. Can't you see that?" The other (that's what Harrison decided to call his 'lookalike, clone??' till he could figure out anything) said. Or maybe he was just dreaming...
He tried to stand up from his chair but realised that he couldn't. He couldn't move at all, not even his hands. He was stiff like an inanimate object. The other laughed at him. His anxiety worsened.
"Look you can't move. There is no use of crying or panicking." The other said simply, shrugging his shoulders. Was he crying?
"What is happening? Who are you? Who is 'she'?" His voice was already cracking and maybe he was actually crying because it felt like he was begging.
"Stop fighting with your past Harrison. Accept it! And don't hide it. Tell it to someone, stop suffering alone!" The other said. No. He was not just saying—he was begging too.
"I don't understand." Harrison pleaded and he could taste his warm, saline tears that slid down to his mouth.
"Tell Y/n about Shelly. About Tom and gang. About yourself." The other suggested.
"Why would I do that?" Harrison's eyes furrowed like his question actually was—Do you think I am crazy?
"Because it will make you feel less guilty. And less alone."
"But why her?"
"You know better." The other stated and looked to the side for a second and then back at him, "Because she thinks this fake relationship is easier for you. Because she thinks you have pretended to like her before. But she doesn't know that you actually liked her."
"Bullshit," Harrison spat. He wished he could just get up from the chair and hide somewhere.
"If that's bullshit then why did you liked her smile and laughter so much. The days you spent with her to make her believe you were interested in her weren't actually a make-belief thing. Weren't you actually liking her? You dragged her to roller skate with you. Your heart fluttered whenever she held your hand to balance herself. Whenever you made something new in the breakfast, you packed a little portion for her, just to see her smile at your attempt. You wanted to keep staring at her whenever she was fixing your costumes. She was the first thing you wanted to see upon reaching the workplace. You were---"
"I stopped it. After the prank was over I stopped feeling anything for her." Harrison argued.
"Then that's why you couldn't sleep seeing her crying face that night? That's why you took two-day leave, afraid you won't be able to face her. That's why you didn't want her to go on that date with Simon.
"The thing that you were actually pretending was not to like her, but to dislike her. You searched for ways to spend time with her even when it came in the cost of annoying her. You almost stopped fucking random girls after you started spending time with Y/n.
"The reason you took on your snobby personality was not because you considered people didn't deserve you. It was because you think you don't deserve anyone. Especially her." The other said and sighed, Harrison's eyes were concentrated on him and he was no more crying.
"But she hates me now," Harrison mumbled. The other smiled at his words.
"You know what type of person she is. She tries to be angry and mad at people but as soon as they apologize or be nice to her, she couldn't stop but forgive. You have seen it multiple times yourself."
"And I hurt her every time. It feels like I am using her, exploiting her." Harrison closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath.
"She doesn't even know you properly. Get out of your veil and tell her about you, your past, your mistakes---"
"They are terrible. She'll think I am trying to make excuses for my behaviour." Harrison says cutting him off.
"Tell her. You have thirteen days with her. You started to care for her no matter if it was for that stupid prank but remember those were also just thirteen days. You can make her feel something for you too. Thirteen days aren't less if you try hard and she has actually given you the biggest opportunity. Be the best fake boyfriend, so when it's over, she'll want you for real!" The other stood up from his seat like he won a prize, happy and excited. Harrison tried to laugh but the laughter came out more like a snort. "I don't deserve her. And also, I told her we won't see each other again after this contract is over."
"Let her decide that."
Harrison suddenly started feeling like he was mildly shaking. But the other was perfectly balanced.
"She's here. Tell her about you. Give 'yourself' a chance, Harrison." The other smiled and suddenly all Harrison could see was darkness and all he could feel was his shaking body, all he could hear was his name—your voice.
He fluttered open his eyes. It took him a few seconds to adjust his vision to the lights and then he saw your face and felt your hands on his face and shoulder.
"Harrison?" You said again.
It was all a dream. Thank god. He sighed. He then tried to sit up and felt pain shoot up to his back. Sleeping on the floor was hard.
"You were mumbling in your sleep. And whimpering. Badly." You said and he looked at you with more focus and then looked at his shaky hands and felt hot. His body was covered in sweat.
"Harrison, are you listening?" You asked, more worried. He looked at you again trying to catch your eyes that were roaming all across him.
"Yeah. Yeah." He finally spoke and heard you sigh. Relieved. You moved a bit to give him more space to sit properly and he did.
"Why were you sleeping on the floor. You'll hurt your back and even get cold."
He didn't answer right away, re-thinking about his dream. Yeah, Y/n can't actually be completely mad at someone. Or it was just because of the contract. He doubted.
"Harrison do you have anxiety?" You asked softly and came closer to him, wiping off the sweat from his forehead with your hand. He wanted to hug you and cry pathetically on your shoulder.
"Don't sleep on the floor please." You were basically the only one speaking. You were genuinely worried. You got up and gave him your hand. "Get up. Sleep on the bed." Your voice was mildly authoritative now. Harrison looked at you and your outstretched hand and then took it. He stood up, already feeling far better than the terrible minutes before.
He did have anxiety. Bad anxiety. And it was getting worse for the last two months. You made him sit on the bed and then walked to your cupboard to get a hand towel. You sat across him, your knees bumping with his as you softly wiped off the sweat from his hair, face and arms. He just sat their silent, watching you.
"You should remove your t-shirt, it's wet." You said. He felt the wetness himself and removed it. You handed him the towel. "Wipe yourself. Do you need another shirt?"
He shook his head. "No, I am feeling hot." He said and start wiping off the sweat from his chest.
"I will get you some water then." You tapped his shoulder. You walked to the table and poured a glass of water. He had kept the towel aside along with his shirt. You handed him the water sitting beside him as he gulped it as if he was thirsty for hours.
"You sure, are okay?" You again asked. He nodded keeping the glass down.
"Thanks." He whispered wiping off the water from his lips with the back of his hand and laid down on the bed feeling more tired than he was before. You picked up the covers from the floor and gave it to him, he tucked himself under them. You switched off the lights and got inside the covers. You placed the spare pillow between you both and tried not to worry about him.
***
"You should sleep." You told him sleepily feeling his eyes on you. It was more than fifteen minutes you both were lying on the bed. He groaned lightly at your words and closed his eyes, breathing slowly.
He re-opened his eyes maybe after twenty minutes to look at you again. He didn't know why he was trying to stare at you. Maybe because he was afraid of sleeping now. But out of luck you had already turned your back towards him. He puffed out air from his nostrils and shifted in the bed, turning to the other side so that you both were facing in the opposite direction. He took off the pillow from the middle and tucked it under his arm. He closed his eyes again.
He wished he won't dream again.
He wished he could sleep.
He wished he wasn't holding the pillow in his arms, but you.
