I’m halfway through Romancing Mr. Bridgerton and I have thoughts in comparasion to the show. Again, I know I’m going to piss some of you off, so sorry ‘bout it.

I like show Colin better. He’s more well-rounded. Granted this based only on his book. I haven’t read the others so my judgement might change if I go back and read the first three of the series.

I love that the show didn’t make Penelope “lose weight” before he noticed her. BookColin kind a shallow. The weight angle in the book comes across very fat phobic to me, but I also have spent a lot of my younger years as a heavyset chica so I could just be projecting. That said, I’m glad that’s been left out of the show. It’s not needed at all. And it makes the Polin love affair even more divine. Plus Nicola is a hottie boom body.

The first kiss scene is better in the show, but it’s delightful in the book.

The carriage scene in the show is hotter. And the switching of the lines to Colin as opposed to Pen is a really lovely touch.

I do wish, now that I can see it in the book, that we had gotten the Pen and Lady Danbury friendship in the show. That would have been chef’s kiss. I truly believe that Lady D, at least in the book, knows exactly who Whistledown is.

The 1,000 pound (to become 5,000 pounds in the show) is interesting. I think we are going to see it either come from the Queen or Lady D in the show. BUT, that said I would love to see it come from Lady Whistledown herself. It would be so fascinating if the showrunners tossed Pen into that mele. Plus that would make the Cressida issue even stronger. But that’s just my thought.

In the book Pen has been LW for a decade. I don’t see how she would have been able to hide it for that long, so I do enjoy that it’s a shorter time period in the show. Makes more sense that the pressure is getting to be too much for Pen.

Overall I’m enjoying the book, albeit I’m only halfway through, but I’m looking at it as a separate entity to the show. A multiversal version of Polin, if you will.

I guess I’m a show girlie.

Gonna get some reading in on the third book of the Legendborn Cycle by Tracy Deonn. This series is so good and isn’t talked about enough!

I bought it (I haven’t read any of the books) because you all keep talking about “a mirror scene” and I need to know about it before the second half of the season gets dropped. Because it sounds like it will be amazingly hot 🔥
