I think of 2012 Splinter and immediately get so emotional, god. I’ll probably come back to this piece and color it bc I really like how it turned out. I was just having some wrist issues, so I had to call it here.

TMayNT Day 11: Favourite Splinter.

*It's actually Mother's day here and I had work today so I couldn't spend AS much time on it as I'd have liked.

I like to think that as Splinter grows closer with his sons, Mikey will sometimes notice he needs a cuddle and picks him up/calls his brothers like this and they'll all just come over for a hug.

So Splinter seems to be one of the most controversial changes to Rise. Even people that like the show often are a bit put off by him. I have no attachment to any other version of Splints so I really like how he's this depressed (very reasonably) guy who had fatherhood thrust on him along with a bunch of other trauma and he just tries his best out of the kindness of his heart. And he can be suddenly really badass when he needs to be. I think it's debatable whether his best was "good enough". I don't think anything is exactly confirmed in the show and I don't remember exactly how much of his neglect is canon vs fanon so I won't comment on that. I do remember how he seems to start healing from his trauma and become closer with his sons which I think is sweet.

T-May-NT Day 11: Favorite Splinter

This one was such a tough choice, mostly because I just rewatched through 03 and that absolutely solidified 03’s Splinter as my favorite because I LOVE him. Especially his arc in season five and his dynamic with Hamato Yoshi… I LOVE this Splinter!!

But also I’ve just started watching through ‘87 and if there is one thing that’s stood out to me, it’s Splinter!! He’s HILARIOUS, not to mention an amazing Sensei!! After being so attached to later Splinter adaptations I was genuinely surprised to love ‘87’s so much, seriously no one talks about this guy enough!

So I just drew both, I think they’d be friends <3

I Think 2003 Splinter is my favorite because he was just a Rat! He wasn't a man turned into a rat, he was just a little rat, who was shown kindness, and when he saw 4 baby turtles washed into the sewers, he went "I'm going to take care of them". And he wasn't even mutated with higher intelligence either! He just saw these little lives and decided to take care of them like he had been taken care of before.

Also he's just always there for his sons. He's not afraid to go out there and face whatever danger his sons are facing. And when the turtles got kidnapped by the Ninja Tribunal, he went all the way to Japan to make sure they were safe. HE JUST CARES ABOUT HIS SONS SO MUCH AND HE WAS A RAT!!

I love this man. Have you seen 87 TMNT? He's simply so precious. A real sweet guy. A warm hearted softy.

There's an episode where a ray can demutate him and he personally destroys it to protect his turtles. There's an episode he showed up guns literally ablaze to save his boys. He calls the turtles "my turtles" or "my sons". There's also an episode where he cures the turtles by giving them moth balls and gaslighting them. He let's them call him 'Master Splinter' because that's their nickname for him because he's really good at splitting wood. There was an episode where Donatello made an anti mutagen and Splinter told them he'd rather stay with his boys. He's the ultimate found family dad.

For some strange reason he has a picture of himself on his square, cushiony stomach (and his name, so you don't forget who he is!)

I got him from @bride-of-frankensoim for my birthday this year and he's my new best friend. I mean, look at him. The boy ever.

of course 2012 is my fav splinter, though 2003 is a pretty pretty close second. i have never drawn any version of splinter before and GOD did i struggle so i ended up just doing some basic screenshot redraws as a lil study but goodness it was rough
