It was nighttime now. The room was dim and warm from the sun that shined on the wooden floor. The hum of little lullabies from that same playlist played low as the wind pressed itself against the windows. You were already tucked into bed, reading, letting the boys have their routine.

Sam was in Vinnie’s room—wall aside. Lights dimmed to a sleepy golden glow, stars from a projector scattered across the ceiling. Vinnie was clean from his bath, teeth brushed (Sam fought a whole battle for like five seconds of brushing before giving him to you), wearing those too-small Winnie the Pooh jammies he refused to part with.

They were curled together in the toddler bed, Vinnie’s back against Sam’s chest, Sam’s arms wrapped around his tiny frame. The blanket with ducks on it was kicked off again, like always.

“Alright,” Sam said quietly, brushing Vinnie’s curls back from his forehead. “You get one more identity tonight. Just one. What are you now? Not a car. Not an apple. Not a dog.”

Vinnie turned in his arms a little, looked up at him with the softest eyes. His lips pouted thoughtfully before muttering

“I’m… Thammy.”

Sam blinked. “…What?”

Vinnie smiled sleepily. “I YOU!” He pointed at Sam’s hoodie, his rings, then touched his own chest with those chubby hands. “I no wea' blak but-but i sit like this.” He folded his legs criss-crossed, completely wrong. “I fink… and I go ‘hmph.’”

Sam choked on a laugh, caught so off guard. “I do not go hmph,” he muttered.

“Yuh huh,” Vinnie insisted, poking his chin up. “Like dis.” Then he did it—arms crossed, frowning, tilting his head with a dramatic sigh.

"Now you're being judgy"

But Vinnie just giggled and curled back into him, soft and clingy. “…Why you wanna be me, huh?” Sam asked after a second, quieter now. His voice a little scratchy.

Vinnie didn’t even think about it. “Cus you ‘tay wif me when I cwy.”

“An’ you say no bugs when I sweep.”

Vinnie kept going in a sleepy slur of words. "You give me ketchu wif fries,” he mumbled. “An’ you read all da pages even when I say no mo'. An’ you go mm-mm when da food is yummy. I go mm-mm too." He started to play with his little fingers "An' Thammy wuv da mommy an hug hew when she sad an--an yu tell hew she botiful an she smiles wiiideeeee..I wanna make mommy tho huppy like thammy do"

Sam was losing it. Like actually losing it. His throat clenched. His hand was on Vinnie’s tummy now, rubbing slowly, grounding himself.

“…You don’t wanna be me, buddy,” he whispered finally, brushing his nose against Vinnie’s hair. “I ain’t all that.”

Vinnie pulled back to look up at him again, tired, serious.

“You da best daddy,” he said firmly. “I be Thammy. Like you.”

Sam’s eyes were glossy, disgustingly shiny. He had to look up at the ceiling to blink it away. He let out a breath and nodded.

“Okay,” he whispered. “Fine. You win.” he put a soft kiss on Vinnie’s forehead.

“You be me. But you gotta grow into the rings and hoodie first, lil man.”

Vinnie smiled. “Wanna wear chain too.”

Sam snorted. “Okay. We will talk about that later. For now, you can wear your pasta necklace from daycare.”

Vinnie giggled one last time before cuddling back into him. And Sam held him tighter, heart aching and full, just them, just the dark, just love.

“…Still better than being a damn apple,” Sam muttered into his hair.

Small story!! (Because I was bored and love kid Leo au)

It was already night time and for the first time, Leo was meant to sleep in a new, unknown strange place. Away from his home. The older clone version of his brothers had gave him a tour through the "lair". Everything was different, nothing to do with his home he ever knew. This lair was way bigger, the room were train cars and not the room sewer tunnels. The projector room was wider... not to mention dad's old chair... all he knew was no more to see around. It wasn't even in the same location; he could easily be lost... again.

That made Leo sad. He didn't like it, he didn't want to be there. He wanted all to be just a dream, he wanted to cry, but actually he was really tired, his eyes were tired. But he can't let his guard down. This clones might experiment in his sleep. Never gonna happen. Not on his watch.

Clone Mikey had suggested a turtle pile. That would make their job easier, right? Well they wrong, Leo wasn't dumb, he won't be fooled by no clone.

Raph guide to his train car, his room. It was kind of obvious by the color coded. Leo tried to climb to the bed, he was to small to do without help. He struggled until Raph gave him little boost.

Raph didn't look so sure to let him sleep alone, but Leo didn't seem to fully trust him yet. He thought it'll be better to give him some time to make him feel more comfortable around them.

After everyone went to sleep; after a couple hours, our Leo wasn't capable of sleeping. Was it because he didn't felt sure about the evil clones? Or was it the bed? Maybe not comfy enough like his own bed. His bed was way better. No. It wasn't something, it was someone. He never sleep alone. He was missing his twin brother... that made Leo finally cried. He cried for a few minutes... until an idea pass through his mind. Maybe clones have heavy sleep, maybe they won't feel his presence. He will wake up before they do and they never know what happened.

Leo climbed down slowly, it was easy peasy limon squeezy. He silently like the great ninja he was went to evil clone Donnie's lab. It appeared to be empty. That's weird, where does he charge his batteries if it wasn't in his evil villain lab-ortory?

Leo continued his search he went to wagon next to the lab. Eorika! or what its said... he found the Donnie not-donnie. Leo was nervous to continue with his plan, but he was really tired. He needed sleep.

Next morning Donnie never felt this tired like to sleep in his bed, there was too much to think and to much to do, and all that made him exhausted. A nice smell reached to his snoot, meaning that Angelo was already up and cooking something delicious, also meaning that if he don't get up on his own, he'll have a nice early visit from Dr. Delicate touch and nobody wants that. Donnie tried to get up but he felt a little extra weight on his back (Donnie alway sleeps face down) he turn his neck as he could and could reach to see that it was none other than Leo sleeping peacefully on top of Donnie shell. Kinda looked like a cat, and if so, there was a sacred rule: you can't move or you'll wake him up. This reminded him when they were both toddlers, Leo always slept on top of him, both were comfy like that. There was never a single night didn't sleep together... until they got their own seperate rooms, nothing was the same, their special relationship also changed, they felt more distant. Donnie's fond smile vanished. He gave another look to Leo who still was sleeping. Donnie rested his head on the pillow and decided to sleep for few more minutes until Leo was awake. He didn't want this little moment to finish so soon. They stayed like that until Mikey went looking for them. Of course, Leo escaped running from the room to his. But still went to enjoy breakfast with the wrong made copy of his brothers. Both Leo and Donnie slept very well that night. 💜💙

Reika's first trial MV- "Candle Queen" (Ghost and pals)

The video starts in a place that looks like a movie theater. All of the seats are filled with a white mannequin. The camera cuts to a room with a movie projector in it. A person walks over to that projector and turns it on. The camera slowly moves up to reveal that that person was Reika. She’s a formal outfit with a suit and a tie and glasses. As the projector turns on, it starts projecting a movie down at the screen of the movie theater. A countdown starts at the big screen, 3… 2… 1… And…

Ever since she was a child She always knew how to get her way Just act a little bit wild And someone will surely come to play

A movie with an animation style that was usually found in the early 1900s starts playing, also being completely in black and white. The only thing that can be seen on the screen is a lit candle in some kind of black void. A hand slowly starts to fade in as what is holding the candle. Soon enough, the black void starts to fade, revealing that the hand belonged to some kind of cartoonish version of Reika. She has a lot of over-exaggerated features, including two horns on both ends of her head, reptile eyes, a snake tongue, a black dress covered with spikes and spiked boots. The scenario seems to be the interiors of a castle. Reika takes the candle on both hands and starts to walk through a hallway, a sign can be seen pointing down to the hallway she’s walking through, it reads:

“Rooms of the royalty.”

It's a truth she took to heart But humility and patience didn't come with age She's born to play this part A diva's always center stage

As she walks, she passes through two rooms, both of them having signs on its doors that read:

“Prince’s room.”

“King and Queen’s room.”

But, the second sign has the “King and Queen” crossed off with a red marker.

As Reika continues down the hallway, she reaches another room. One that has a sign that reads:

“Princess’ room. Queen’s room.”

The “Princess” is crossed off with a red marker as well, and the “Queen” is written in a red marker. The camera changes to Reika’s face, she smirks as she looks at the door. She grabs the handle and opens it.

Toddler's cries that grow louder and louder Relishing in untestable power

As she enters the room, a throne can be seen right in the middle of it. The room is covered with hanging flame lights. Next to the throne, there’s four pedestals with candle holders on top of them, 2 of the pedestals are shorter than the others. Only 3 of the holders have candles on them, the other is empty. The candles on the shorter pedestals are out, but the candle on one of the taller ones is lit.

Reika walks up to the throne. She looks over to the pedestal that doesn’t have a candle on them and puts the candle she was holding on it.

Stoking the flames that burn higher and higher Royalty with a crown of fire Setting ablaze an extravagant scene

Reika then looks over to the only candle that is lit, she starts looking to the side, but her expression is unreadable. She knocks over the candle to the floor.

The one and only candle queen

The camera cuts to Reika’s back as she turns to sit down on the throne. Reika crosses her legs and rests her head on her hands and looks directly at the camera. A smile starts to slowly creep into her face. As it became a full grin, an image appears on the screen that reads as follows:

Character Introduction: The Villain.

And after it, an intro card that would usually be found in an old cartoon appears from the top of the screen. It reads:

The burning of the evil Witch Episode 10: “Getting what you deserve.”

Addicted to adrenaline And always looking for attention

The screen briefly shows the candle Reika put on the pedestal melting before the lyrics are sung. It quickly changes to Reika walking out of the castle she was in and into a path that leads to a forest. All of the cartoonish animals that were there start to run away as soon as they see her. Every step she takes, fire appears behind her.

Thought to be so genuine When she's suddenly met with apprehension

As she walks into the forest, the trees start burning because of the fire that keeps appearing behind her. As she looks back and sees the fire, her expression changes to a completely neutral one. She snaps her fingers, and the fire grows. After she does that, a small smile creeps onto her face, but it quickly fades away.

The fighting has begun And she'd do anything to get ahead

As she gets deeper into the forest, she’s suddenly met with a white mannequin standing in the middle of the path she was taking. The white mannequin was laying on the ground, blood dripping from its chest. Reika’s expression becomes one of pure terror when she sees the mannequin. She starts to sweat, not knowing what to do.

Like using people as ladder rungs And sweeping eggshells under the bed

The mannequin reaches out to her, and an image appears to illustrate dialogue:

Help! Help! Help!

Reika starts looking from left to right in a state of panic. After some time, she starts running through the path while ignoring the mannequin, moving her legs in the air for some time before dashing as fast as a bullet, leaving dust behind.

Toddler's cries that grow louder and louder Relishing in untestable power

As Reika quickly reaches the end of the path, she arrives in what looks to be a small town. There was a big sign on the entrance that read:

“Bonumvile”

Reika smirked as she looked at the sign, and then she stepped inside the town.

The town was full of living white mannequins like the one she saw before. Reika lifted her hand, and pointed at one of the houses in the town, and it lit up in flames. All of the mannequins started running around in panic. Reika looked up at the sky and started laughing until she spotted something at the back of her eye. It supposedly was one of the townspeople, but it wasn’t a mannequin, it was a blond boy. An image appeared on the screen as the boy came into view:

Character introduction: The Victim.

When Reika saw the boy, she started grinning from ear to ear. She slowly made her way to the boy that was hunched down. He seemed to be in pain.

But when Reika finally made her way to the boy, a black haired man appeared out of nowhere. He quickly stood in front of the boy, water bucket in his hands. An image appeared on screen as soon as his full body came into frame:

Character Introduction: The Hero.

The man quickly used his water bucket to throw it at Reika, dousing her in water. The water did so much damage to Reika to the point that it incapacitated her completely. She quickly pulled out a white flag as little birds started flying around her head.

Setting ablaze an extravagant scene The one and only candle queen

The townspeople quickly came running to the man and started throwing him in the air to show gratitude. Reika slowly made her way out of the town in the back, defeated. As the scene faded to black, the candle that Reika put on the pedestal from the castle came into frame. It melted all the way to its half. Quickly, the scene faded to black.

The “episode” seemed to come to an end. But, the screen started glitching, and for a brief moment, it changed to real life footage. Reika was walking down the road. She stopped when she reached a house, she got keys from her purse and opened the door. Inside, there was a blond teenage boy. When he came into frame, the screen started glitching and the scene cut back to being animation usually found in the early 1900s.

Ah, but there's hope for you still Before it all comes unfurled Ah, you just need to chill It's not the end of the world

Reika is seen walking back into the castle from before after being defeated. She followed the path and reached the gate. As she reached out her arm to open it, the scene cuts.

She just can't help but be this way She lost her true self long ago Now all her friends have been pushed away Because a caricature is all they know

The candle from before is now almost completely melted. As the seconds passed, it started to reach its last straw. And soon enough, the candle melted completely and the fire went out.

Toddler's cries that grow louder and louder Everyone rushing to disavow her

The scene quickly changed to Reika entering the castle. The castle started to collapse and the music started to quicken. Reika’s eyes widened as she started to sweat. In a state of pure panic, she started to run up the stairs as fast as she could.

All alone in a black and white scene The one and only candle queen

The video started to change from animation to real life briefly. The first time it happened, it showed Reika running up a fleet of stairs. The second time, it showed her closing a window on a messy room. And the third and last time, it showed her sitting on the corner of the room in a fetal position as flames creep closer and closer to her.

Hurt by the flames that burn higher and higher Clutching a broken crown of fire All alone in the final scene

The video changed back to full animation. Reika entered the “Princess, Queen” room as fast as she could. She saw the candle she put on the pedestal earlier. It had completely melted. But, the one she knocked over was completely intact and still lit. She grabbed the candle on the floor. The camera changed to focus on her face as tears started to run down from her eyes. She looked at the candle one more time, and then ran to the window and threw the candle out of it. As she did that, she looked up to the ceiling, and as she did, it collapsed on her.

The camera changed to show the whole castle collapsing. After some time, it cut to the candle Reika threw out of the window. It was still lit.

The camera started to slowly back off to reveal that it was playing on the screen of the movie theater from the beginning. As more of the theater came into frame, it showed that the moving theater was on fire and the seats were all empty now.

The camera now changed to the room that suited Reika was in. The room was ablaze too, but Reika could be seen in the middle of it. She was laying down on the floor.

What a pity, that candle queen

Hi there! My friend is going to be opening a toddler / child “play place” and she wants to develop a sensory room to help give a safe space to autistic or other neurodivergent children. She’s enlisted my help, but since I was diagnosed in my early 20’s, I really am not sure what would help autistic children. Not to mention the wide variation of symptoms!

So now, I’m gathering information. I know it’ll never be a “one-size-fits-all” type of thing, but we want to get as close and as inclusive as possible. Do you have experience with places like this? Or, would you have any suggestions? Thanks in advanced <3

Before designing the room it is important to consider:

1. The individual needs of the clients who will use the room. What are the ages, abilities, and needs of the individuals who will use the room?

2. How many individuals will need to use the room at the same time?

3. How the room will be used. Will the room be a calming area? Will it be used for therapy sessions including occupational therapy, speech, sensory integration therapy, or one on one instruction? 

4. Keep in mind the long term use of the room. If all of your equipment is static, students can become bored. A good goal is to create a flexible space that allows you to create different scenes or moods depending on the emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of the students. How will the room be adapted to meet changing needs and keep it interesting?

So I have a minor addiction to those "Characters read their book/watch their show" fanfictions. And I had Oshi No Ko on the brain. So I had an idea.

What if it involved characters from different points in time? Sarina before her death, Goro before his, Ai and the toddler twins, the teenage twins, Saitou (pre and post timeskip), Miyako (just post time skip cause her bad attitude ended pretty quickly). Maybe Kana, Akane and Mem-cho cause I originally included them but after typing it out I kinda want to keep it a family affair.

I haven't decided if Goro has met Ai or not yet

I know it would be harder to do but I kinda want them to read the manga. Maybe it's on a big projector or something?

Both Rubys run to Goro cause they're so happy to see him and the two of them plus Sarina are clinging to him crying during his death scene

Teenage!Ruby is very torn between wanting to run to Ai or Goro first when she sees them

It Took a “Huge Science Project” for What We Do in the Shadows to Bring Back Colin Robinson

In this epic battle of nature versus nurture, nature has won.

The third season finale of FX’s vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows saw the death of energy vampire Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) as well as his rebirth into a slimy, screaming, and time-consuming infant. The most recent fourth season saw him grow quickly from there, going from an energetic toddler to a tap-dancing tween to a sullen teen within a season.

All of this happened while his de facto parents, the more canonical blood-sucking vampire Laszlo (Matt Berry) and the vampires’ human bodyguard, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén), tried to keep this version of their roommate from becoming like his annoying and frustrating predecessor: a supernatural being who gains energy by draining you of yours.

But that season finale, titled—what else for an episode about vampire parenting?—“Sunrise, Sunset,” saw Colin Robinson complete his metamorphosis into the grating-voiced and flatulent creature whom his housemates already knew. (The character is always referred to by both his first and last names; co-showrunner Paul Simms, who wrote this episode, has said that the fifth season, which premieres July 13, will get into whether these are even actually his names). To make that transformation complete, the team needed a Styrofoam wall, some “turn off that racket” music, and as little dialogue as possible.

Room Rager

Shadows has already established that these aren’t just vampires; they’re vampire hoarders. The characters’ dilapidated Staten Island Tudor is overcrowded with animals dead and alive, musty furniture, candelabras, and dusty books.

It’s hard to put a value on specific things when time has no meaning. And Colin Robinson’s quest will only reinforce this notion.

It begins as he’s banging holes in his bedroom wall whilst blasting death metal, a music choice that serves the dual purpose of covering up the first action and really irritating his roommates, (or, as episode director Kyle Newacheck puts it, is an example of how the character was “starting to learn how to feed in that state”).

The look of bewilderment when one of his holes uncovers a film canister suggests Colin Robinson is operating out of instinct rather than with a known purpose. As the show’s score quickens, he rushes through the house's tight hallways to find a projector and lug it downstairs.

The found footage has more clues, pointing out where else Colin Robinson should hit and in what order. It’s then that he discovers energy vampire nirvana: a long hallway lit like a fluorescent-hued forgotten side room of a public library. There are meticulously hung beige and brown sweaters and slacks (some Proksch had actually worn on the show), and detailed diary entries that, among other things, suggest one of the character’s boring rants was the impetus for the events in the movie Se7en.

As he makes himself at home in an uncomfortable chair for innumerable hours of reading, teen Colin Robinson’s hair falls out and his posture changes. Behold: The energy vampire’s metaphorical butterfly wings begin to flap.

“The Color Within the Darkness”

Newacheck says he and the production team had about two weeks to build “the huge science project,” which was a wall of Styrofoam blocks that could smash open, plus the secret room, which had to be constructed so that it connected to the bedroom set. Audiences had already seen Colin Robinson’s room, which is tiny and sparse, with only two pieces of art that hang on separate walls. Newacheck decided that those paintings could be what he calls “visual coding” for the character to learn where to line up the projector. Music supervisor Nora Felder chose “Forbidden Lies” by A Creatures Cage and “Killing Engine” by Andy James, Jan Cyrka, and  Christopher Clancy to play during the hammering, both of which exude a “turn off that racket” vibe.

Newacheck was inspired by the last scenes of Darren Aronofsky’s film Requiem for a Dream, which uses a soaring score amidst stark lighting and shadows to create what he calls a “big, revelatory feeling.” He says he worked with director of photography D.J. Stipsen, who was also the cinematographer on the 2014 film that inspired this series, to find “the color within the darkness” of a purposefully bleak interior.

The mockumentary format helped too, Newachek says. “Sometimes, when you’re trying to figure out what’s important in a scene, it’s kind of nice to have less choices in terms of shot coverage or shot selection,” he says. “It makes you realize what’s very important about the scene and focus on that.”

Silence Is Golden

Shadows tends to be a very loud and chatty show (Who knew hundreds-year-old vampires could be so needy? Guillermo did). Juxtaposed with this scene is a storyline involving one of Colin Robinson’s other roommates, the vampire Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), and a lot of flailing and hissing. But Proksch embraced the lack of dialogue in this transformation scene.

“There was a moment where we talked about throwing in some ad libs,” he says. “And we just came to the conclusion that it should just exist how it was written. It should be a bit of a heightened moment.”

He adds that it’s even debatable how cognizant Colin Robinson was that he was being filmed, both because “he was so in the zone that he was not paying attention to anything other than his quest” and because he’s now, technically, the youngest vampire in the house. Much like actual children, “since he was reborn, he has been on camera,” Proksch says. “I think he also considers them to be commonplace and not as much of a novelty as the rest of the characters do.”

Learning and Relearning

Colin Robinson’s final moments of transformation might solidify that Laszlo and Guillermo’s efforts were always going to be in vain. Proksch speculates that, even if his character hadn’t wanted to read those journals, “he would have then been compelled” to do so because “it's in his DNA to relearn the process of becoming an energy vampire.”

They also help him hone in on what kind of energy vampire he is destined to be; leaving behind the days of teen angst and moving full-on into trapping his prey with mind-numbing conversations.

“I think it’s something like when you’re in school,” Proksch explains. “Up until college, you're in school and you learn a bunch of different things…. When you get to college, you specialize.”

Proksch doesn’t know how many times Colin Robinson has been reborn, although the show has established that this happens to energy vampires every hundred years, and some images from the opening credits suggest he might have been alive in the 1700s. But he does think it’s interesting that he never looks any older than Proksch himself, who is in his 40s.

Are humans the most boring when we’re middle-aged? “I think middle age is particularly boring,” he acknowledges.
