.: The Devil's Toll :.
⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆ He doesn't understand why his hair is getting stroked so lovingly but he also doesn't know why he's finding it so hard to pull away. There is a small hand brushing through white locks over and over and he doesn't quite know how he ended up leaning his head up on His Excellency’s chair like some kind of lounging cat but here he is doing just that nonetheless.
Words: 2.9 k Pages: 6 TW;; Depression, PTSD, Submission, Mental Illness, Survivor’s Guilt, gaslighting, possession, isolation, abuse, mental abuse, physical abuse, self blame, objectification, manipulation, injury, mental breakdown, intimidation, love bombing, dissociation, conditioning, punishment and praise, rewards, murder
His stomach twists in disgust as he realizes the true stakes of the situation and now if he moves wrong that hand in his hair will turn into a variable claw in the matter of a few moments. He hates how he can't remember ever laying down like this and quite frankly he can't remember waking up this morning either.
It's becoming more and more frequent in recent days. He's missing entire chunks of time and he doesn't quite know what to make of it. He's missing chunks of time and he can't remember when was the last time His Excellency killed him. Somehow this seems like more of a bad thing than a good thing for as strange as that sounds. Shouldn't one want to be spared the pain of death? Well yes, and of course he does too but this also means that when the time comes that he inevitably messes up again, when His Excellency makes a move for punishment it will be the most severe one he's received to date.
He's not stupid. He knows how this game works. Praise and Punishment walk hand in hand with this little beast and right now those same hands are in his hair and he can't move. He can't pull away no matter how much he wants to and he can't even flinch or breathe wrong unless he wants those small but deadly fingers ready to tear snow colored locks right out from his head.
It's always such a wretched sensation.
Nothing is worse than the feeling of his hair being pulled. He hates it. He hates the feeling and he hates the way it makes him feel so vulnerable. How the pain of it will bring him to his knees and have him fighting back the tears at the sensation. You would think one who has died as many times as he has would have more pain tolerance for something seemingly so simple but the sensation of even the root of his hair going taunt is enough to send his nervous system into overdrive.
But what he hates the most is how he can feel himself start purring. He doesn’t know why he does it. He tries to tell himself to stop but he can feel those fingers grow softer as they stroke through snow. The louder he purrs the softer they get and he hates himself for finding so much comfort in the sensation. He hates himself for finding peace in this. He should be running away from this beast as quickly as his body would carry him. He should be fleeing at any chance he gets but instead he allows himself to sink into his place on the arm of this chair as that little monster continues to comb through fluffy spikes with a gentleness that could only be described as care.
That can’t be right.
That’s just not possible, and he hates how many times he feels like he’s had this conversation with himself as of late. The beast does not love him. The demon does not care. The little devil felt nothing for him but yet those lips part and purr out affections of their own.
“You’ve been so well behaved as of late, Precious.” The small emperor sounds as his hand continues to work. “You’ve done your tasks so well. I’m proud of you, my Little Cloud. You’ve been such a good pet. Perhaps you deserve some time out of the castle? I think you’ve earned it.”
He only increases the volume on his purring in response as if doing so will show his gratitude for such a notion but his lips are hanging in a frown behind the thin metal covering his face as the boy of pink continues.
“You can go with Herba the next she leaves.” The Tyrant offers as he finally pulls his hand away and out of the Misterican’s hair. “But when she leaves you know the rules. Her word is as good as my word and you are to do whatever she asks of you. You understand, don’t you Precious?”
“Yes, Your Excellency.”
“That’s my good boy. You’ve become so well behaved. I’m so proud of you, Makenshi.”
His purring only grows louder as those hands return to his hair and he doesn’t know how long he stays like that but it’s long enough that he doesn’t remember falling asleep. Did he fall asleep? He doesn’t know. He does know that he woke in his own quarters the next morning and he was met with Herba throwing her arms over his shoulders to bring him into a very tight and very unwanted hug and she leaned to try to push a kiss to his cheek and he could only lean himself the opposite direction so far to avoid contact.
“Makenshi.”
His name was trumpeted in his direction in a small but authoritative voice and it has the Misterican standing up straight giving this damnable woman the space she needed to push those poison painted lips directly to his cheek even if it was covered in metal. Dull jade is looking forward into the main hall with the entirety of his form tingling to both get away from this woman and get off the ground. The place just above the little demon’s head is calling his name because then he is both in eyesight but at the same time away from this gaggle of absolute morons.
If he could never associate with any of them for the rest of his life ever again, he’s sure he could find a way to be happy. If only Rorahm could finally wake up - but - jade moons downcast at the thought because at this rate his sun would never rise and he was going to be stuck here for the rest of said life. Should he make the most of it? Should he adjust?
No. No. Listen to yourself Makenshi. You’re falling for that monster’s tricks!
But are they tricks?
It’s been too many years and he doesn’t know anymore. He doesn’t remember the sound of his Mother’s voice and he can hardly remember his Father’s face. He tries not to think about them too much because he doesn’t want to get himself all upset and then in turn upset His Excellency. The Tyrant isn’t exactly one to be any form of comforting if he were to simply explain that he was thinking about home. In fact, he doesn’t want that little monster anywhere near anything to do with Misterica in the first place, so it would probably be for the best to simply forget it all anyway. If he can’t remember then the little beast can manipulate it against him.
He can’t seem to remember most things lately anyway.
He can’t remember going to sleep the night before and he hardly can make sense of the morning. He just wants this woman to get off of him but instead she lets herself sink down to wrap her arm around his and lean herself up against him like they were anything that could be considered close - which was comical in his mind when the closest he would like to be to this
woman would be to watch her burn.
Still he just adjusts to the feeling of her hanging off his arm as he focuses his attention on His Excellency instead because the only thing he ever needed to do was to keep the little gremlin happy and as long as he did that he’d keep his head. Why was the beast smiling at him the way he was? He doesn’t like it. It’s making his skin crawl almost as much as the feeling of the plant witch hanging off his arm is.
“Makenshi, I am assigning you to assist Herba today. I expect you two to cooperate while you’re out in the field. Herba knows what needs to be done, so you simply need to follow her lead, and I shouldn’t have to repeat myself with what we discussed yesterday, do I?”
“No, Your Excellency. I remember.” He sounds, raising his free arm to cross it over his chest to give this pink haired abomination a half bow. What he was saying he remembers, he doesn’t know. Quite frankly, he doesn’t even even the day before. Yesterday? He couldn’t tell you. Herba’s face was where his memory picks up and he hates that too because there is something about thinking about yesterday that is turning his stomach but he couldn’t tell you why.
So now they’re returning to that damnable airship and he hates being on it. It’s nauseating and the amount of pollen in the air is enough to make him sick. His stomach is twisting in knots As he takes a seat. He doesn’t feel well but there is the sound of jingling chimes in the air as he looks over to the open deck just to the right of him. Chimes blowing in the wind and it's enough to tell him to just focus on the sound of something pleasant for once as he lays his head down and tells himself to just go back to sleep. She’ll wake him when they get there. She always does.
And he’s sure it’s for something nasty. It always is.
He won’t do it this time though. He’ll never kill again and he doesn’t care how badly His Excellency beats him to death for disobeying orders. He will not stain the Holy Blade with yet more blood of the innocent… He just needs to not think about it and sleep. He’ll fight with her when he wakes up. His Excellency might be able to get the better of him but Herba won’t. He will never let that woman -
“ ‘kenshi-darling? ‘Kenshi-darling, wake up you silly willy. If you told me you were tired, I would have gotten you a blanket, lovely.” She smiles at him with a face that is possibly dripping with more venom than it ever has before. Her smiles are always fake and they turn his stomach, but she is taking him by the hand and he’s letting her. He doesn’t feel like fighting with her.
It’s a quiet town they’ve found themselves in this time. It’s closer to the outer reaches of Wonderland but not quite all the way out. A town that has larger than normal buildings built up and a large building he wonders if it is a church of some kind on the other side of town. She has him by the hand as they walk, and the people of this village don’t seem to be paying them any mind. Children are laughing, the smell of fresh bread is in the air and the city itself seems at peace.
Herba is leaning herself in to cling to his arm as if they were some sort of couple and it is taking everything in him not to shake her off. She just seems to be happy to take a stroll with him and he doesn’t understand what the catch is. Why did His Excellency let him out of the castle if there was nothing wicked for him to do? Why let him just come take in the sights of Wonderland if they didn’t mean for him to cause some kind of havoc?
She’s strolling through the local bazaar with him as his nose catches the smell of sugar and it’s been so long since he has got to eat anything truly sweet. He sniffs once and then again and she’s making an Oooh? Sort of sound that he doesn’t like as she takes him by the hand to lead him towards the source of the scent.
“You like sweets, don’t you, ‘kenshi? I’ll buy you something. I’ll buy you something nice, for how good you’ve been lately. Tell me what you want. Anything and you can have it. We all deserve a little treat every now and then.”
Is she serious? She can’t be.
The Church bell is ringing in the background as she pulls him along. A grin slipping on her lips as she pulls him into the middle of the marketplace, only to look back at the Misterican with bright eyes and a poison purple smile.
“Anything you want, ‘kenshi-darling. Name it, and it’s yours.” She pauses to look towards the church and watches as the streets seem to fill as if the building is emptying further with each chime. “Must be noon.” She sounds returning her gaze to her companion only to watch as a pale hand reaches back towards the hilt of his blade to rock it free with a single click.
“ ‘kenshi-darling?” She sounds but still just continues to watch the man move. The swordsman takes his blade up into his grip and it is held out towards her at length as if extending the tip in her direction. Mist rolls out from behind bared teeth in plumbs when the devil growls. He’s pushing off a foot to take off in a dead lunge in her direction but instead of striking at the object of his absolute hatred, the man of white races past her directly towards that of an older man down the way of the lane of the marketplace and cleaves the poor soul clean in two.
More Mist rolls out from parted pale as his blade is swung to send a flood of white colored energy racing through the stalls like a spark on a wick until it reaches its destination and half the bazaar goes up in a massive explosion. Screams fill the sky as citizens start to scurry and scatter.
“The White Devil!!” They cry. “The White Devil has come for us all!”
Red stains window panes and runs along the cracks of the cobblestone as the carnage continues. The man of snow does not cease his hellsent symphony even as men and women alike fall to their knees to beg for their lives. Their lights are snuffed out regardless. Children struck down with little concern and explosion after explosion brings building of stone tumbling to the ground.
Before long the symphony of sayonara falls silent and the Maestro of the Massacre stands center stage, crimson dripping from the Holy Blade stained with sin once more.
Only one other life remains and a dangerous gaze of dimmed jade is turning to glare daggers at the plant like woman. He’s raising his blade and taking stance to charge her when she merely raises her hand in his direction and snaps her fingers together.
Jade eyes go wide before they start blinking rapidly and soon their owner is looking all around him with horror etching itself into his features. Anger overcomes him as he refocuses on Gaudium’s Lord of Plants and Potions only to scream.
“What did you do?! Answer me! You didn’t have to kill them!”
But he only gets a small laugh in response as she floats over to him to rest just over his shoulders.
“What did I do? I didn’t do anything. You did this, ‘kenshi-baby. This was all your work. You killed them all gracefully and you didn’t leave a single one alive. Truly expert skill.”
“You’re lying!” He hisses as his mind starts to reel at the possibility. Her lungs didn’t sound like she was lying.
“Am I though?” She asks coyly. “Look at your sword.”
And her hand is pointing a finger down causing jade eyes to drop along with it even if he’s scared to do what she’s asking. The Maken is in his hand and it is covered in blood. He’s covered in blood.
His hand is trembling as the Maken is released and a deep guttural scream escapes him from down in his belly as the Holy Blade clatters to the ground. His hands are flying up to slip into white locks in between his horns only for the scream to get louder.
What was going ON?!!!! This wasn’t right!!! He doesn’t remember ANYTHING!!!!
His entire body is shaking as his knees hit the ground. All he can do is scream. He killed these people. He slaughtered an entire town and he doesn’t even know how or why. He can’t remember their faces. He never knew their names. He slaughtered these people and -
Herba is wrapping her arms around his shoulders as she hovers there next to him for the moment, nuzzling her face in close to his own.
“ You did so good today, ‘kenshi-darling. Let’s go home and tell, His Excellency, about what a good job you did. I’m sure he’ll reward you. Oh and !” She’s letting her feet hit the ground to shuffle over to the now destroyed stand of the vendor from earlier that had been selling all sorts of sweet treats and she picks up what appears to be some sort of hard candy on a stick and extends it out to him. “I said I’d get you anything. A treat for doing such a good job.”
But he couldn’t eat anything now. Now it would only taste bitter.

🍛 CURRY AND RICE — what does your oc's typical dinner look like? do they usually eat dinner?
Details About OCs || ACCEPTING
On Misterica, typical dinners were dishes that included lots of veggies. Because of the cold climate, there were lots of hardier plants like lettuce, radishes, turnips, leeks, carrots, and broccoli.
Some places, like Sielu's grandfather's farm, had greenhouses that allowed for more of a variety like tomatoes, peas, strawberries, and squash. Sugar cane was also grown on the same farm, being their biggest crop.
Given the fact he lived in pretty close proximity to that farm, fresh vegetables and fruits were never a problem. Fish were expensive and more of a once-per-week deal until Sielu became employed by the Royal Family and could afford pretty much anything he wanted.
Stews, soups, and other hot meals were generally the preference due to the cold. Misterica was really, REALLY cold. Colder than Earth, but not quite as cold as Mars. To put it in perspective, think about the fact that 70°F/21°C is a pretty damn hot summer day to them. Their winter temperature, at least at the part of the planet Sielu is from, is somewhere around -87°F/-66°C. Their farming and therefore their meals relied on the farmers' ability to work with that.
In Wonderland, the first few years, food was simply whatever Sielu and Sinfonia could steal. It was made even scarcer by the fact Mistericans don't eat meat except for fish.
After he got caught by Herba, Sielu was under her control to the point he did not eat unless she allowed it. He nearly starved to death.
Now, in his present, he doesn't eat a lot due to his appetite shrinking immensely in the nine years he was kept prisoner. He tries his best but can only manage small meals and he struggles to keep on weight.

Okay so this is a topic plenty of others have talked about, but I want to adjust my own theories and add some new to the table.
Briar is basically a walking plot device- or she at least looks like it, and it'd be in line with GF to absolutely make all of this build up for nothing. But let's assume they won't drop the ball and let's look at everything here.
First, her entire outfit is literally Scarlet and Violet. Next

Besides her chest (admire on your own time), she's literally wearing the symbols that appear on the books, the title, and appear in Area Zero itself
Only a handful of people seem to be aware of the contents of the books- that's not ruling out the possibilities that others besides MC, Arven, and the professors have read it, but the list is pretty short considering nobody else is out there hunting Herba Mystica.
And remember, the books themselves influenced the professors so much that they actually are KEYS to the time machine.
Moving on

She's obsessed with the Terastal phenomenon to the point she wears earrings shaped like the symbol for it.
Her eyes, too, seem important. It could be nothing, but the eyes seem... not quite human.
So time for my theory:
She's looking for Terapagos, which is the source of the Terastal phenomenon, and possibly more related to Area Zero. In fact, She's out looking for the book we the player have, or perhaps our school has in its library.
Going full tin foil hat here, I think she might be another android or something akin to a puppet in the same vein AI Turo/Sada were, sent out by the Paradise Protection Protocol to search for the books so it can reactivate itself- or perhaps activate another function than what we're told is the time machine. Maybe it's after something else all together.

I thought it only fair that I let you know that I dreamed about your Galarian rivals roleswap AU last night! Specifically, I dreamed that you made a hack that could be added to ScarVio, that could be played on the Switch, which made it so we could play your AU.
My memory of the dream is fuzzy (as dreams oft want to be), but I remember meeting Arven in-game first, near the start of the game, like Nemona is. He was acting a lot like the first time we meet him in S/V, with that presumably being how his personality always is this time around. We have the opportunity to bring up his parent via in-game dialogue choice, and his reaction is to sort of avoid eye contact and change the topic subtly, with a sudden dip in energy.
I also remember meeting Penny! She was found at a sort of ruinous place. When you go up to greet her, she starts infodumping about the ruins she's researching before she ever introduces herself. (In the context of this AU, I'd imagine the ruins would be about the Herba Mystica?)
Anywho. Apologies for the LOOONG ask, I just thought it'd be of interest to you, lol
OH??? omg thats so sweet...........
im in your brain now!!!!!!!!!!

Name: Rei Kuroshima
Age: 20
Do you like to cuddle?: It would be nice
Can we make-out?: As long as you’re up for it…
A night in or dinner out?: Either would be fine, though a night out could be fun
Whip cream or chocolate syrup?: Whip cream?
Chocolates and roses?: Both are rather nice
What makes you a good Valentine?: Lots of topics to talk about
Would you cook for me?: Of course
Would you let me cook for you?: We can cook something together
Where would you take me on a date?: There are a few watch towers that have nice views along with quite a few light houses that can overlook the sea.
Who’s paying?: You’re visiting, so I will.
What did you get me for Valentine’s Day?: Well, it’s some water tera shards along with some spicy herba mystica. I think you’ll like both.
(@illusions-end)
Oh! It was such a relief that she wasn't the only one who had decided to fill out one of the Valentine's applications between the two of them. That spur of the moment impulsiveness would have ended rather awkwardly if it wasn't for Rei's own decision to gift her with the very same. She lightly clutched onto the paper with both hands.
"Ehhh...I mean why not do something special!?" she exclaimed in a flustered tone. She quickly glanced down reading over more of his answers. A lot of them were pretty wholesome. She did like the idea of cooking together and going to visit the watchtowers which overlooked the sea.
As she read the last line, she spied the mentioned water tera shards and spicy herba mystica. Oh she knew just the pokemon to use the former with. In fact, a certain mightyena perked up from across the room. Nah..clearly she couldn't sense what her trainer was thinking.
Nevermind that. Sucking in her breath she made a quick nod. "I suppose we can call it a date??"

Izar returned the smile, although something about Cotesia’s seemed just a little bit off to her. But that might just be her imagination—or Cotesia still feeling a little tense. A tension that thankfully seemed to have eased, for now. She glanced back at Ensha who was back to staring at Cotesia warily, but Izar could tell that the anger was gone. She blinked when Cotesia brought out a piece of dry meat and tore into it in a way that reminded Izar of… well, a feral animal, maybe? Not that she was going to judge anybody for their table manners. ‟Ah, don’t you worry. We have our own provisions. Speaking of which, I’ll put water on and make us some tea. Do you like tea? It’ll warm us all up.” With that—and a short glance at Ensha to make sure he was fine—she scurried over to the other room again to retrieve the pot she had found earlier. When she returned to the fireplace, Ensha had already brought out the waterskin and the collection of dried herba, so Izar could pour the water—from the Hold’s well, not Liurnia’s muddy lake—into the pot, toss the leaves in and place it on the fire. She felt a little guilty for that rushed and unceremonious way of preparing the hot beverage. When the nomadic merchants did it, it was calm and dignified, and usually included far more sophisticated blends then a handful of herba. But well, this would have to do. Truth to be told, Izar also was a little hungry, but she hesitated to bring out their provisions. She wouldn’t have minded sharing them with Cotesia, but knew that Ensha wasn’t likely to partake in that kind of meal, which—same as him not taking off his armor—would probably seem odd. So she was rather grateful when Cotesia brought up the topic of the map again. ‟The map, yes. I’ll get to it right away,” she said, her treacherous stomach rumbling softly, which earned her a serious look from Ensha who reached for the backpack once more—chest heaving with a silent sigh— and pulled out everything from the sachet they had brought along: a small loaf of bread, dried meat and mushrooms, a bit of cheese. Then he briefly gestured both at her and Cotesia, and added: You should eat first. You tend to forget that over your map-making. A brief pause, then, with emphasis and quite reproachfully, Always.
Cotesia’s face but briefly flashed a smirk where she was very pleased with herself. Very pleased indeed, not only for averting a fight, but she now an instrument in her arsenal as well. Someone had an overseer that they did not want to upset. And if her assumption was to be believed, it was likely because said overseer was not a particularly forgiving figure. She’d no intentions of blackmail, perse, but having new information to do with as she would was always a benefit. If nothing else, all the more reason to keep her skulking in the Hold to a minimum.
“I will make sure not to make myself known there then” she said, turning her head to smile in a way trying to be friendly but maybe just looked like a grimace.
Still, though, there was other things at hand. “Well, I cannot speak for you two, but I am hungry. I would share, but I’ve not enough, as it were” she explained as she reached around to rifle through her backpack again, finding a very sad looking piece of dried meat she couldn’t remember if it was deer, dog, or…
Eh, it didn’t really matter. Meat was meat. And her teeth cut through the tough dried flesh all the same, though admittedly with less finesse than her mandibles ever did.
“So, to lead us back to whence it all began,” she said, briefly stopping to make a face and tongue where a strip of sinewy-something got stuck between her teeth (horrible design flaw), “Perhaps rather a request. I can’t read your, er, words, so don’t worry about including them on the map—by the by, I am still very grateful. Yes, very grateful"—reminded that she was still technically in debt. Rats.
She clicked her teeth together on reflex, worrying the inside of her lip between them after in a bid to stop herself.
#love the contrast between cotesia's learned politeness and her way of eating!#also neat how she immediately picks up on possible leverage wrt that ominous overseer at the Hold#thank you! i didn't know he would get THAT angry when mistranslated; this was a great occasion to explore that#headcanon: ensha somehow is able to drink and will enjoy a cup of tea but doesn't benefit from normal food#also when at the rth he probably shows up to set down a tray of food next to izar quite regularly

Oh... Hi, is me again, I sent an ask about a delicate topic of a surgery not long ago... I was so hopeless when I sent the ask, and didn't think much of it, I was waiting for the third opinion of what to do with my current health state and the new doctor game me hope! We can't discard the surgery but overall is the last resource for him and wants to keep doing lab tests and such ;v; My idea still reminds of Arven looking after their special one in a delicate situation but... Well, wanted to share the news. Keep the awesome writing!
Hi there! I'm glad you've enjoyed my writing and am really sorry to hear about your situation!! I hope that things keep getting better as is possible and that your recovery is stress free and quick!!
I hope you enjoy how this is written; I don't know much about your specific case, but I can write from my own experience as someone who lives with several chronic illnesses. While I know this isn't the exact same as what you're going through, I hope it can speak some to your experience and give you some relief?

Generally speaking, vows of staying together "in sickness and in health" usually wait until weddings. Of course, a good partner is one who acts on such a vow before it is ever made.
In the grand scheme of things, your suffering beforehand doesn't feel as important to you once a diagnosis and treatment plan are made and decided upon. Or maybe that's just a stress response? It's hard to say. While the suffering leaves its own unique scars upon your heart and body, visible or not, there's a sort of grief mixed with the relief in finally knowing what's wrong. It can almost feel like an admission of defeat.
The diagnosis and subsequent planning process almost seem like an anesthetic. Maybe that helps with the grief? You're not totally sure. There eventually comes a point where you more or less nod along with what the doctors have to say, trusting that they know what's best in your case. At least now they've put a name to the faceless evil that's been ravaging your body.
Arven does as best as he can to support you every step of the way. At many times, he's brought back to his memories of the time with Mabosstiff before the herba mystica. He never wants to feel that useless again for someone so dear, so he throws himself headfirst into what can do for your care.
If it's staying up late dealing with pain, he's there to wipe your tears and stay with you. If you need reminders of medications to take, he's got alarms set on his phone. Of course, he's also feeding you as much as he can as often as he can. It's his love language. If there are any special dietary concerns, he is more than on it and is in fact more than excited to learn how to make delicious foods for you within given parameters.
After all is said and done regarding your treatment plan, the two of you discuss the long term ramifications of what must happen; Arven mourns along with you for whatever losses have to be faced.
It's an inevitability that from time to time he gets a bit overbearing in his attempts to care for you, be it in monitoring what you eat too closely or trying to make decisions for you. Arven is the sort of man who has had such little control in his life until now that the urge to be in charge of it all can very easily overwhelm him. As frustrating as it is, he'll definitely back off when told to do so. He may be grumpy for a bit, but he can sort himself out. Apologies from him will usually come in the form of food prepared for you without asking or acts of services completely wordlessly.
At the end of the day, he just wants you to know that he's there, and he loves you no matter what, in sickness and health.

(Trigger Warning: Death of a Pokémon, insanity, and feelings of hopelessness or vengeance towards the world.)
Pokémon Scarred Scarlet and Tattered Violet
______________
Arven/Chien-Pao:
After him and (player) failed at their attempt to find all of the Herba Mysticas, Mabosstiff, unfortunately, didn't make it. It damaged him completely, due to him losing the last of his family that he cared about. He became deranged and attempted to find some way to bring Mabosstiff back. He researched everything to do whatever he could to bring him back… But to no avail.
Slowly, he started to feel his hopes on the world slipping away, his emotions and feelings taking full control of him. He was almost to the point of ending it all, due to the feeling of being alone, unloved, hated, and neglected…
But it was until then, a book fell on his head.
It was tattered and the cover was ripped up, the pages were only lightly crinkled, but the ink on the pages were still eligible and could be read easily without any problem. He took the book to his room so that he could read the book without getting caught.
As soon as he opened the book, he read through a few of the pages, some read about legends of Paleda, others about mythical spells that could do many things, but there was one topic that caught his eye quicker than anything else…
'There's a myth of Stakes that, when pulled from their resting place, will grant you one wish, whether it be from a small object to great riches to the revival of a passed on mortal, it will grant you that wish."
This had Arven's attention.
He continued reading the pages, with each word he read, the more involved he became with it.
'Eight Yellow Stakes lie amongst the ground of Paleda. The Stakes holding back a Great Treasure that many people aim to find, but are unable to due to how well hidden they are. Though, only certain people are able to see these 8 Stakes, people still attempt to find out these stakes for that one wish.'
Arven started gathering his travel supplies, packing food, water, clothes, and other equipment along with the Tattered Book as well, so that he could find these stakes that held down the Legendary Treasure.
It took days to find all 8 yellow stakes, while it may have been a tough journey, climbing up cliffs, getting a Pokémon that can swim in rivers, and even being chased by Pokémon that seemed to hold a grudge against him for no reason, he refused to give up on his last and only family that he had left…
Finally… After weeks of searching all of Paleda, he found all 8 stakes. He was finally able to get what he had been searching for. Finally, he would be able to bring back his only family…
He took out the book from his bag, then opened the page to where he last read, then read the pages.
"After the 8 Yellow Stakes have been pulled from their resting state, the Great Treasure lies in wait in the Groundblight Shrine. It shall grant you your one wish after it awakens fully. And with that wish becoming granted, you shall never be alone again, as the wish you asked for shall be granted, and the one you wish for will be free once again."
Arven placed the book back into his bag, he could feel his hopes raising up as he smiled, and walked his way to the Shrine mentioned in the books pages.
"Mabosstiff…" He said, smiling and tearing up, knowing his journey to finding his Mabosstiff was finally ending, "I'm coming for you, Buddy…"
After finding the Shrine, he had took a glimpse into the Shrine, pushing the block of the entrance out from the doorway. It was dark, dusty, and everything looked either scarred or tattered. He pushed on deeper into the Shrine as he looked around it. No sign of Mabosstiff anywhere…
"Hello…? Anyone in here?" He asked as the darkness around him grew deeper and deeper, "Anyone at all…? Maybe…"
He was silenced as he heard a growl from the darkness, a glowing blue shown through as it blinded Arven causing him to hold his hands over his face for a moment. As the light faded to where he was able to see once again, he started in awe at what he saw…
It was a white Pokémon, it was adorned in Ice Crystals, and it had teeth like swords. It growled at Arven slightly, then it backed down, showing him mercy.
"Mabosstiff…?" Arven asked as he walked up to the Pokémon, it's body cold to the touch, "Is that you…?"
The Pokémon placed it's nuzzle in his hand, while growling only a bit defensively, then closing it's eyes.
"Mabosstiff… It's really you…" He said, smiling as he started to cry a bit, his tears staining his face, "I thought I'd never see you again! I thought I had lost you forever!" He said before hugging the Pokémon he thought was Mabosstiff as it gave him a small cuddle back.
"I thought this was just a myth, but no! It's actually-! It did bring you back! Though… You look a little different than before…?" He said, giving it a little head scratch as it purred at his touch, "Is this some kind of evolutionary process or a new form of yours bud?"
The Pokémon nodded, growling slightly in response as it closed it's eyes slowly.
Arven was smiling and tearing up at the fact that he finally had his only family back, then he hugged it once again, but even tighter than before. "I'm so glad I got you back, buddy…" He then backed away, before jumping up a bit excitedly, "We have to show Little Buddy! They'll be so happy that they get to finally meet you! Don't you think they would?"
'Mabosstiff' nodded, Arven then walked towards the exit of the Shrine, and it soon followed after him. It's eyes shown no emotion except a hidden anger and vengeance that not even the most attentive people could notice.
Arven could've noticed. He could have.
But he was too blinded by the lie and hope that his only family was back. He didn't think that the thing he thought was Mabosstiff wasn't Mabosstiff. The only thing he thought was that he'd no longer be alone.
Never would he realize is that he released one of the Sacred Treasures that would cause the destruction of Paleda once again.
"What? What do you mean? This… This is Mabosstiff! Isn't that right, boy?!"
—---
Penny/Chi-Yu:
"I'm sorry, but Team Star can't attend these classes anymore." Said a disgruntled Director as (Player) could only gasp and stare, "The students on campus all have become more and more fearful of them, and due to their multiple absences, you and the other Team Star Leaders are expelled."
"What-?! Director, you can't mean that!" Cassiopeia said as (Player)'s phone jumped a little in response as it flew in the air, "Please, just give me and (Player) a little more time, we can get them to disband as soon as (Player) can get to them! Please!"
Director Clavell only shook his head, "I am very sorry, but understand that this is a prestigious academy… The students of this academy have either become more lacking in their studies or unenrolled themselves from it due to their fear of getting hurt from any of the members of Team Star."
Cassiopeia seemed to be losing her confidence, "N-No, Director, please! They don't mean to do any actual harm, it's just…!"
"We'll give them a week to gather their things from their dorms if they've used them. Otherwise, their items will be under the possession of the academy, and they'll be put under arrest if they refuse to move from their dorms." He then turned around, hiding his remorse and sympathy from the two who were attempting to fight for Team Star's innocence.
Cassiopeia stayed silent for a moment, then let out a small sob, "I understand… I'll let them know at once."
After (Player) had left the office, Cassiopeia was still on the phone, but they were silent. (Player) was going to speak, but Cassiopeia was quicker than them. "(Player)... I'm sorry I had dragged you into this only to have given you a fruitless bearing…" They said, their sobs still coherent from the phone, "I should've known that the operation was gonna bust like that, but I… I still tried to get you to help me prove that they weren't doing anything wrong."
(Player) retaliated, "Cassiopeia, we can still prove that they are innocent! We just gotta figure out how to-!"
Cassiopeia silenced them, giving a choked response, "(Player), once the academy has decided something, they don't give up to their promises."
(Player) attempted to speak once again, but before they could, Cassiopeia hung up on them, leaving them to stand in silence before running off to find Nemona.
Cassiopeia, or Penny, sat in her chair, crying as she held her head and pushed her fingers into her skin. She was once again alone, and the people who caused Team Star to rise into existence got want they wanted once again. It was as she knew was the rule of the world.
The ones with good intentions are never rescued from their prison and those with evil intentions get away with things they shouldn't be able to.
She'd always believe that it wasn't true, that the good guys would always win against evil, while the
good guys would bask in happiness as they finally were able to live happily with the people they cared about.
But not every good guy gets their good ending, do they?
Due to nobody knowing who she was or what role she played in Team Star, she was able to continue studying at the academy, while the other students part of Team Star were expelled, and unable to return to school again.
Penny blamed herself for this. Her friends were no longer able to go to school, all because of some small incident that caused her to want to gather and start Team Star…
… Wait.
It wasn't her fault.
It wasn't her fault.
It wasn't her fault!
It was their fault.
The people who made her create the teaming the first place.
It was the Academy's fault for not taking their side rather than their assaulters.
It was THEIR fault.
Not hers.
She gathered a bag of her things, leaving her Pokémon in her room, only bringing her Vaporeon with her. She had always loved to listen to the myth that her grandmother had told her when she was only a small girl about a Pokémon in the Paleda Region that was beautiful and mythical, yet, dangerous as it didn't seem.
She'd traveled miles, plucking the blue strings from their resting places. She wasn't going to back down from her search for them until all 8 strings were plucked from their places. Her anger, her want for vengeance, her loneliness…
She wasn't going to stop until she'd gotten her revenge…
After she'd plucked all 8 strings from their resting state, she'd traveled to the Shrine that the Pokémon resided.
Firescourge Shrine.
Her Vaporeon provided her with water travel, allowing her to be able to swim through the waters that surrounded the ground around the Shrine, so when she made it to dry land, she looked at the opening to it.
She had a moment of regret, did she really want to do this…? If she had done this, then there was no turning back. She'd be known by everyone, yes, but not in a good way! It could ruin her life that she already had…!
… 'They had already ruined my life.'
She thought.
'And if they ruin my life, I'll ruin theirs.'
She pushed the Shrine's door open, her eyes dulled and broken.
'There's no going back anymore.'
She watched as the door fell towards the ground, the firey fish-like Pokémon fell from the Shrine's entrance as it flopped onto the hard ground, eyes dulled just as it's new beholder's was.
'They took my treasures from me… But now, with this Pokémon…"
The fish Pokémon's eyes then brightened with a angered aura as it gave a loud irritated noise, and it's beholder's eyes brightening with insanity.
'Chi-Yu will help me make this world regret taking my treasures away from me by taking their treasures from them…'
—-----------------------------------------------------------------
Nemona/Ting-Lu:
Nemona stood by the Pokémon League, she'd gotten a message from (Player) that they were finally finished with collecting the gym badges. She was estatic and rushed over to the Pokémon League waiting for her soon-to-be champion buddy to get there. She didn't take notice of the messages that were sent afterwards though…
Nemona waited for a while, her Pawmot keeping her company as she waited. After a while, (Player) had finally made it to the League, but something seemed a bit…
Off…
"Hey! (Player)! Over here-!" She called out as they turned to her, tears staining their face as they turned towards the battle addicted girl, "Uh, amigo/a? Tú bien?" She asked concern lacing her voice as she walked up to her friend, their sadness seemed to affect her as well.
(Player) shook their head, then wiped their tears, trying to regain their composure, before speaking, "I-I'm fine, Nemona…" They said, their voice quivering.
Nemona seemed to be afraid of their composure, she knew they were lying about their emotions, but she didn't want to push them to telling how they felt if they didn't wanna speak about it.
"Well, you don't look okay? Do you wanna battle off your emotions with a Pokémon-!" Nemona was then interrupted by their friend, as they ducked their head, a shadow falling over them.
"No. I came here to discussion with you about this champion thing." They said as they looked up a bit, "I… I can't do this anymore!"
Nemona became shocked, her face matching that emotion as she lightly shook her head, "(Player)... You don't mean..?"
(Player) nodded, "I mean I'm done. I can't be a champion. I-I've had too much stress to actually be able to accomplish this…" They said as they clenched their head tightly, their nails digging into their own skin, "I've failed to help Arven save his Pokémon. I-I've failed Penny to help her keep her friends in the school. I-I can't take this stress anymore, Nemona, I'm done! I just… I don't wanna be here anymore. I'm too weak for this."
Nemona could only stare in fear, "N-No! No, (Player) you're not weak-!" She said, she didn't wanna lose the only person she had that could match her potential, "You're really strong! Stronger than most of these people around here in Pokémon Battles!"
(Player) shook their head, "... I may be strong in Pokémon Battles, but I'm not strong mentally." They said as they turned to walk away, "I'm going back to the Academy… There's no way for me to be strong anymore. I'm sorry Nemona."
They walked away, tears staining their face once again. Nemona could only stand in place as she watched them leave, their bawling and whines echoed through the area. Nemona stood there, lost in thought.
'(Player)... Please, come back…' She thought as she took one step forward, 'Please, don't leave-!'
She fell onto the ground, her knees scraping against the grass as she reached out for them to come back, her hand spread out.
"(Player)! Come back!!!" She yelled out, her face becoming stained with tears as she placed her face in her hands, "Please!! Come…"
They were gone.
"Back…"
She stayed there for hours, her cries only heard by the Pokémon on the route and the nurse and shop keeper at the Pokémon Center. The nurse jumped over the desk to get to Nemona.
"Young lady, may I ask if you are okay?" She asked Nemona, putting a hand on Nemona's shoulder, "You've been crying for hours, and me and the shop keeper are worried about you…"
Nemona couldn't respond, her friend had lost hope in battling, and she just wanted to give her friend their hope back, but…
"Did your friend abandon you?"
Nemona looked at the Nurse with a shocked look, "Wh-What? N-No, n-no… They didn't abandon me…" She said as she looked towards the ground with sadness lacing her voice, "They just…" She held back a sob, trying not to let her sadness get the best of her while she tried to explain the situation.
"Ellas simplemente se dieron por vencidas…" She said, choking out the words with a remorseful tone.
The Nurse gave a sympathetic look, "Oh, you poor dear…" She said, "I wish there was some way I could help you-"
The woman went silent for a moment, of "Oh wait! I know something that may be able to help you!" She exclaimed, "Here, go look for the stakes around this region." She said, something seeming off about her.
Nemona seemed a bit hesitant, "Umm… Why?" Nemona asked, suspicious of the woman.
The nurse only giggled, "Well, if you don't want to find a Pokémon that can make you and your friend stronger…"
Nemona perked at the word stronger, "WAIT! DID YOU SAY STRONGER?!" She yelled out,"Tell me! Please! What's it that makes that Pokémon able to make people stronger?"
The nurse grinned, dread surrounded her aura, "I'm glad you asked!" She said as she handed her a map of the locations of the stakes Nemona would have to pull, "The Pokémon was known as a really strong Pokémon that would allow people to become strong if they really thought the person was strong enough to be it's master."
Nemona went silent.
"What if…" She whispered, "What if… I want to make someone else stronger…?"
The nurse smirked, the evil aura surrounding her matched her smile. She had Nemona wrapped around her finger…
"Well, then that Pokémon will help you!" She said as sweetly as she could, "Just go to it's Shrine, ask it to give you it's power, then it will help you gain your greatest desire!"
Nemona started at the map, then walked away, clutching the map in her hands tightly.
"And show the last chosen one the way to freedom." Said the woman, but her voice was demented and broken, "Don't stop until we are finally able to rid the world of the corruption that humans have brought upon this world."
After she had finished her sentence, the dark aura dissipated from her body.
"H-Huh…? Wh-what just…?"
"Wow, Nurse Joy! I knew you were really understanding, but I didn't think you could cheer up a person that easily!"
"What d-did I even do…?"
…
Nemona traveled to all 8 places and plucked the stakes from their resting place. She did as she was told to, and searched for the Shrine. It was surrounded in an autumn like region by a dirt wall, with only one entrance unless you could climb walls.
Nemona looked at the Shrine, dangerous hope flooded her eyes as she placed her hand on the Shrine.
"... please."
She whispered.
"Give us your power."
She grasped it tightly,
"give. Us. YOUR. STRENGTH!"
She pushed the Shrine's door out of the way, leaving the entrance unguarded and unprotected.
She looked in the Shrine, expecting something strong. Something tough. Something that would push her friend back into thinking that they were strong.
But there was nothing.
"... I should've known that lady was untrustworthy…" Nemona said before turning around with her head hung low, "I fell for a prank. I'm so idiotic… Maybe if I didn't pay a lot of attention in battles instead of the real world I'd have learned-"
The ground rumbled as a deer-like cry yelled out, "Tigru!!!!!!!"
Nemona fell backwards onto her back, holding her hands over her face, "Whoawhoawhoa-!" The Pokémon that held the cry jumped behind Nemona, then caught her with it's bowl, "H-Huh…?" She said as she slowly removed her hands from her face.
The Pokémon stood behind Nemona, giving her the same stare as her old champion bound friend did, "Are you…?" She said as if she was about to cry, "You're really the Pokémon that's gonna help make my friend stronger…?"
The Pokémon nodded. Nemona, happy at it's response, hugged it tightly, "Thank you…" she said before getting on its back, "Now let's go help my friend get stronger… No matter what it takes." A shadow appeared on her face, the same dark aura from the nurse overtaking her.
"Even if it means destroying the world and the people who live upon this cursed ground."

(I'm still working on the final person's part, which is the player's part, but since I finally decided to post a part, I decided, 'hey, why not let them have Arven, Nemona, AND Penny all at once?' since I made the prologue, said I'd post the next part later, then forgot to post the next part. I was going to put the drawings I had of them with their treasures, but unfortunately, I... haven't colored Nemona's yet- o.o"
So the only thing I can give you is this-

Take a little doodle I drew on the Puzzles and Dragons dragon with chibi Arven on Instagram.)

on a scale of 1-10, how much does it scare you that herba knows at least one of your binds is alive?
and how much does it scare you to think of what would happen if she were to find them?
"Mark my words, Herba should be much more afraid of what I will do to her if she dares to touch them, than I am of her knowing that Sielu is alive. I already had a problem with her for personal reasons but now that I know she's dared to lay hand to my family and she's hurt one of my best friends then let's say ... she's in debt and I will be more than happy to collect.
If she decides to damn herself further by even looking in the direction of any of my binds, I will do to her what I did to that beast. Any who dares to lay hand to my vassals will face the King's wrath. I'm not scared, traveler. I'm furious.
And listen to me clearly when I say this. I may be Salvation by given name but peaceful times are often carved out from bloodshed and I am not above finding out if her people are the kind that leave behind a corpse."

A respite is a place to rest, after all. Context serves him better than language itself, some days.
For a brief moment, he finds himself curious as to what a gentle child could do to have such rage directed at him, but the moment disappears as soon as the question is spoken.
Herba had spoken - bragged - about Omega, about its crystals in the same manner she often bragged to him about many other topics. About how His Excellency was searching - something about His Excellency needing it. Of course, he'd been in far too much pain at the time to process much of what that putrid woman said or meant, but Omega is in his memory nonetheless... however fleeting that memory is.
"Vaguely," comes his response. "I only know it is powerful and... sought after, for some reason? I'm afraid I don't remember much of what I was told. A lot was happening at the time... I would be content to join you and listen, if something is on your mind."

at least there is reason to reject Clear. this strange man, however? thus far, not so much... as such, Clear feels it best to give the man an adequate warning.
"a respite refers to a place to rest, or so i've heard. in my case, it is this forest where i hide from the fear and rage of town residents." a pause. We hate Herba in this household.
"Wake up, my darling," her voice calls. It's dripping with the sickening sweetness that usually means something awful is about to happen.
If the warmth and pollen surrounding him are any other indication, he's right. There is a hand running gently through his hair, fingertips tracing his face just above his mask and under his eyes.
He knows what it means. He knows she wants it to come off.
He doesn't want it to.
"My darling little pet... Aren't you thirsty? I know I've left you in here all by yourself for a few days now."
He hates himself for wishing she would have left him longer, long enough for the dehydration to finally claim him.
She never does. She always comes back, keeping him alive for reasons he doesn't understand. Death has scared him since he was a boy, but lately... lately the idea of any more pain has started to become much more terrifying.
Everything in his exhausted body is begging for him to give up. It's not like Pilvi is coming back for him and it's not like there's anyone out there who could or would save him.
"I'll take it easy on 'kenshi-baby next time I see him if you drink all this... After all, if there's none left, I can't give it to him."
The only reason he hasn't let himself cave yet is because of some of her statements like this. Whether they're truthful or not, he's not sure. But regardless, he'd do anything to protect his Pilvi, even if it means staying alive for as long as he can.
His mask splits and retracts without any further resistance. Firm hands pull him up far enough to drink whatever is presented to him. It's not water. Through the tears blurring his vision, he can see it's dark enough to be ink. It's as bitter as it smells and it doesn't go down easily, too thick and syrupy for him to even call it close to a beverage.
Slowly does he make himself take all of it, fighting to even stay conscious enough to do so. Against his will and better judgment does he start to slump against the woman next to him, leaning into her touch even though it makes him feel more sick than he's sure he already is. His stomach turns with every affectionate stroke of her hand over his hair and shoulders.
He doesn't want to love her.
For Pilvi, he tells himself for the millionth time. He's asleep again before he can decipher whatever soft praise has been directed at him.
At least he doesn't have to suffer that part this time.

shiny hunting with shiny boost sandwiches in pokemon scar/vio
i realize that this may not be information that’s readily available per se if you aren’t several layers deep in pokemon youtuber content so here’s a little guide to shiny hunting in scarvio with sandwiches!
each of these recipes will give you level 3 shiny power, encounter power AND title power for a particular type of pokemon. this effectively raises the spawn rate of that type, as well as the chance of encountering a shiny pokemon and a marked pokemon of that type. it’s not guaranteed to run into a shiny or a marked pokemon with the sandwich active, it just increases your odds of it occurring.
titles/marks are a different mechanic separate from shiny hunting. i won’t be detailing too much about them in here, but you can read about them here!
you can find herba mystica in 5 and 6 star raid dens. i’ve made a spreadsheet summarizing what herba can be found from specific pokemon in these dens, which is linked here!
SHINY BOOST SANDWICH RECIPES:
PAPA JEFE’S SHINY HUNTING SANDWICH RECIPES
ALTERNATE SHINY HUNTING SANDWICH CHART
SANDWICH SIMULATOR
to preserve herba mystica, be sure to TURN AUTOSAVES OFF AND SAVE BEFORE MAKING THE SANDWICH!!! that way, if you don’t run into your shiny, you can reset the game to a point where you haven’t used any herba yet B)
also, when making sandwiches with friends, it never hurts to run the sandwich recipe through the sandwich simulator prior to actually making it just to ensure that you get the right boosts!
on a 30 minute sandwich, i have run into 5 total shiny pokemon. more frequently than that though, i run into one shiny, and occasionally no shinies. i’d say on average, expect to find 1-2 shinies depending on how many pokemon spawn in the area you’re hunting!
if you have a particular target in mind, the best strategy is to find a place where you can isolate the spawns for it. for example, if you want a shiny dunsparce or two-segmented dudunsparce, go to the big cave system in area zero (fast travel to research station 4) and use a normal type boosting sandwich - they will be the ONLY TWO THINGS that spawn there
some pokemon are easier to hunt than others. cetoddle, for example, can be a tricky target because wherever it spawns, there’s a ton of other ice type spawns that can also appear with an ice type sandwich active. eevee is also pretty difficult to hunt for due to similar reasons with normal type pokemon surrounding it.
if you’re trying to figure out the best way to approach shiny hunting a pokemon, i find it’s best to consult serebii to see where it spawns and if you can isolate its encounters anywhere.
if you can’t, you can always hunt it with sandwiches! (just be prepared to potentially encounter a couple other shinies that aren’t your target before you find it)
shiny hunting revolves around RNG and luck first and foremost! don’t be too intimidated to go after a tricky target, you might just get it! (looks at my 1/100 shiny three-segmented dudunsparce i got after 8 total phases)
AN IMPORTANT NOTE:
certain encounters are considered fixed, meaning that they are guaranteed to spawn in certain locations. these spawns will always have 1/4096 odds of being shiny, regardless of shiny charm or sandwich boosts. (spiritomb is a pokemon that will ALWAYS be a fixed encounter.)
to shiny hunt for these pokemon, a certain procedure is needed to ensure that a new pokemon’s being generated each soft reset.

Pokemon Scarlet Playthrough part 17: Gym Leaders 2: Electric Boogaloo, School Battle Brawl, The Dex gauntlet, and a single baby mouse
Playthrough Masterlist
In this I'll be going I'll be doing post game stuff as well as trying to complete the dex as best I can. I'll be separating topics by category. I've been given the job by Geeta to do gym inspection. And after that there will be the school tournament. I also chat about my attempts to fill the dex. I also still need to get a sweet herba mystica for the cooking teacher. So let's see if I can do that.
Gym Inspection
I've already finished all the inspections but I'll lay down my thoughts here. Overall I had a fun time, but it did get to feeling a little tedious as I went on. The gym leader levels were pretty solid but all the same all members of my team are in the 70s so it wasn't too much trouble, I was usually able to defeat them with one or two Pokemon.
Katy gave me a surprising amount of trouble but that was probably because I battled her first, thus my Pokemon weren't as high leveled as the others. She said something interesting that fits into a popular theory people have about gym leaders. That because she was usually the first gym students from the academy went to because of her close proximity to the academy, she was asked to go soft on them. She said though, that she was planning on trying to be more difficult in the future.
I beat Brassius easily, I swept him with Chien-Po.
Iono gave me some difficulty with my Clodsire. First she was using a flying so I switched. Then her frog used Reflect, lowering the damage from physical moves. The only ground move I have is Earthquake at Clodsire. That frog was also better at absorbing the hits than I thought, it took 2 Earthquakes. Then her Luxray took an Earthquake like it was nothing and used Psychic Fang. Clodsire is slower so it didn't get to attack again. Then I used my Meowscada who ended up doing way better, just using Flower Trick over and over again. I'm not sure if crits get by Reflect or not. But the rest of the fight ended up being easy.
Larry ended up being pretty easy. I used Chien-Po for most of it. It has Ice Spinner for his Braviary. And Sacred Sword for the rest of them. It fainted at the final Pokemon but my Flamigo cleaned up the the last one. When Larry heard Geeta sent me, he was like "Yup, sounds like her." He talks about how simple and straightforward normal types are and that's why he likes them. But that using Flying types is helping him broaden his horizons.
Next Kofu, I mostly used Meowscada here, using Flower Trick a whole bunch. His last Pokemon took my grass cat out so I used the power of Salt Cure on the last one. It got taken out by a combo of recoil, rocky helmet, and the cured effect.
Grusha was also pretty easy, I used Chien-Po for most of it, using Sacred Sword. I used my rock salt Pokemon on the last Pokemon again because Chien-Po fainted. I remember Grusha saying something about how since he doesn't have snowboarding anymore he can't bare to lose the last thing he cares about, battles. So he cares a lot about the inspection.
Ryme I had a bit of trouble with. I used Farigiraf and Chien-Po. Farigiraf has that ghost immunity and a dark move but the ghosts just kept hitting her with dark moves so she wasn't much help. After she fainted I used Meowscada. I just kept hitting the ghosts with dark moves. Ryme was angry that Geeta didn't come herself, that's fair.
Tulip went fine, it was my last stop. I did a lot of switching out during this battle for different type advantages. I was worried about her last Pokemon because it gave me a lot of trouble in the gym match, but I beat it fine this time.
School Battle Brawl
Finally got around to doing the School Battle Brawl. It wasn't anything that exciting in the end. The beginning was more hype though. Arven and Jacq had some difficulty to them because of their mixed teams. The Battle Studies Teacher had a fighting type team so I beat her up with my Psychic Giraffe. And The Champion may have a mixed team but her team isn't really all that impressive.
I'll try to do some more in the future. Right now Jacq wants me to do a bunch of difficult Tera Raids. Not sure if I can handle that. It depends on if a 4 star raid is considered difficult or not, probably not. I've only ever completed one 5 star raid.
I've done it for a 2nd time now. It was a similar lineup but I got to face Penny this time. I'm surprised to see Geeta here again at the end, I thought that was a one time thing, because she's supposed to be really busy and all that. I was hoping to fight Nemona again. On another note, I've realized this is a good way to get exp for my more powerful Pokemon. I even got rare candies at the end, if that's what you normally get for winning I can get level 100s for those raids.
Doing it a couple more times... rare candies are not what you always get, very disappointing. And I'm not getting as much exp anymore from these fights. Looking the prizes up, getting 3 rare candies like that is only 3% and getting a single rare candy is 7%. And 1% of the time you can get 10 rare candy. So You can get rare candy 11% of the time, about 1/10 times you do the tournament.
Anyway I'm happy that Geeta isn't the last opponent every time, the 3rd time I've done it I got Hassel instead. He was still very easy to sweep with my ice type. I've also gotten to face Raifort, Saguaro, Salvatore, Tyme, and Clavell. All of them had mixed teams save for Tyme having all Rock type, which makes sense because she used to be a rock type gym leader. I was surprised that Salvatore didn't have more electric types but at least his ace was a Raichu. I still haven't fought Nemona or Miriam yet, so I'm going to keep going till I do.
Finally got to battle Miriam, the only thing worth mentioning though is that her last Pokemon took me some time to take out because it kept getting healed.
I've finally found out what BottleCaps are for. Lol, now all my main Pokemon have been hyper trained. I've finally found a use for all the money I have that I didn't know what to do with. I still haven't fought Nemona yet. I could get my grass cat to level 100 if I wanted to, I have 3 rare candies still and it's at level 97. But I didn't to just keep going till I see Nemona and then I'll use any awarded candies. I might get grass cat to level 100 just from all these battles.
I'm fighting Nemona now! I was using Clodsire against her Pawmot. It's Ice Punch kept freezing me so it may have been a one shot KO with Earthquake but it took some time to actually get to attack. Then I had some trouble using Earthquake on her Orthworm because it's ability makes it immune to ground damage, but I wasn't paying attention and wasted two turns. I have now beaten Nemona again, woo hoo!
A slight update to that Tera Crystal thing, fought a whole bunch and now I think I've unlocked 6 star raids. Apprently they are black crystals that started showing up. Jacq is like "those are two dangerous even for you" but the game is like go do them hint hint. Haven't tried one yet but considering how hard 5 star raids are I really don't think I can win. I think I would need other people and not just computers to take those on.
I haven't found one yet, maybe some other time. But I did get my first herba mystica. It's a Spicy one though. I've been focusing on going to tera raids where the level 100 Pokemon I have have an advantage. As time goes on and I get exp candy, I can make more Pokemon level 100. Currently I have Meowscada, Flamigo, Farigiraf, and Chein-Po.
The Dex
I started trying to get the paradox Pokemon. I already had 2, Fluttermane and Screamtail, 3 I suppose actually because I also have Koraidon. I've also heard there is the 2nd Koraidon, and you can find and catch it, I think I have good idea of where it is. I also know I can't get the future ones until I hang out with someone who has Violet, but I'm sure I can find someone when my college classes get back on in about 10 days (as of the time I'm writing this).
First I went to the static spawn of the Great Tusk you can find where the titan once was. I didn't originally know about it until watching a Youtuber's playthrough. I found the Brute Bonnet easily, they are pretty much everywhere. Silther Wing was slightly harder but once I went to the surface there were plenty. I love Slither Wing. I have yet to find Sandy Shocks, apparently it has a low spawn rate.
So I've been working on evolving a whole bunch of my Pokemon. Currently at 310 Registered. I've made note of particularly tricky evolutions. I'll be working on them later, right now I'm just trying to evolve guys who evolve just through level up.
One funny thing I must mention. I wasn't going to bother getting Dusk Lycanrock until I found out you can get a wild Rockruff with Own Tempo. So I figured I'd look for one. At the time I figured this out, I had a Rockruff I was planning to evolve in Day Lycanrok. I figured I'd check it's ability just in case. It was Own Temop. So I guess I don't need to go looking for one. Well... I still need another for Day Lycanrok, but any rock pupper will do. So I guess I gotta get the timing window right. Boom. I have it now.
I have evolved most of the ones I can. I'm currently on Pokemon who evolve at a high level. It's slow going. I'm mostly trying to do raids to get exp candy. But I keep running into 5 Star raids, and I'm not able to handle those. I've also been catching extra version exclusives to trade with later.
I've finally gotten some rain so I could get Goodra. I also finally found a wild Eevee. So I got Eevee knocked out along with Leafeon. The only Eeveelution left is Umbreon. I also need to catch an Applin, but that might be tricky. I also have some friendship evolutions to do. There's also evolving Primeape, Charcadet, Sneasel, Larvesta, Bramblin, Rellor, Noibat, Pawniard, and Gimmighoul. Other Pokemon I don't have require another person, most of them, a person with Violet. There are also a couple Pokemon that I have the evolved version of but not the pre-evo, Forretress and Banette.
Completed my first 5 star raid. I wanted to complete it very badly because it was Rotom. I wasn't aware you could get Rotom, I just assumed the blank space was for a very exclusive. I used the extra Koraidon you can catch, not sure if I mentioned I caught it or not. But it was powerful, pretty high level, had a Fighting Tera, and great Fighting moves.
I also wasn't aware that Bruxish was in the game, I now have one from a raid. I also got another Eevee from a raid, this one will be the Umbreon, I have caught it with a Friend Ball. I named it ShadowWater as a reference to both my tag and because it's a water tera dark type.
Nevermind about getting eggs from Forretress and Banette to get Pineco and Shuppet. I just looked up where to find them and caught them. I'm still going to get some extra Sprigetto though with a Ditto. I've also figured out how to get Applin, it was similar than I thought, I just don't think to headbutt the trees. But I got two Applin and evolved them into the different forms. Now all that's left is Pokemon that I can't get without having another person.
I guess there's still different forms I want to get. I don't have the male version fire lion pokemon. I also don't have the blaze form of Tauros, I want two of those to trade one. I also don't have 3 segment Dundunsparce nor a genuine Sinistea. I do have a single baby Moushold, which I talk about in the next segment. Oh yes! I'm still missing Sandyshocks too and Gimmighoul's evolution. Oh my gosh I have 10 grass cat eggs now, I don't think I was even at that picnic that long, my gosh, those two got busy. I checked the basket and they just kept coming. I now have many grass kittens.
I was doing a bunch of tera raids to get exp candy and to try to get herba mystica. And I found and caught a shiny Skwovet! I was just running by a group when I noticed that there was a Skwovet that had the same color scheme as Greedent. And I was like "whoa, is that a shiny?". :D I now have 3 Shiny.
Trials of a Single Family Mouse Hold
I'm trying to get a single family Mousehold. I currently have 3 full boxes of Taundomuse. That's 90. The chances are 1 in 100. I will say though that this isn't the first time i've caught a whole bunch and evolved them in mass but I wasn't counting the first time. First time was probably around 15? At the time I didn't actually know what the odds were and I still had a game to complete.
I caught them at the League because they appear there much more frequently. And I just watched Youtube while running around and catching them. I tried checking my sandwich recipes to see if any gave me Encounter Power Normal. Didn't see any but I decided to just make a sandwich for fun. And what do you know, when I was just fucking around I created a sandwich which gave me Encounter Power normal anyway!
Okay 1 Box emptied, no single family yet. 1/5 of the way through box 2, I've done it! I have the family of 3 mice! I was just about to nickname it when my Switch ran out of power. I succeeded just in time pretty much. :D
Recent news, I just got another single child Moushold from a Tera raid, I don't know what the odds are of that, but it happened.

Day 26 – Redondela to Pontevedra – 20 km.
I arrived in Pontevedra by 1:30 pm in time for lunch and enjoyed a pilgrim's meal of lentil soup, ham steak, wine, water, and flan for 10 euros (10 USD). After lunch I checked into my room in Pontevedra. On the topic of meals, much of my day is spent in search of food (& coffee), and my daily routine is roughly:
7:00 am – breakfast
9:30 am – second breakfast
1:30 pm – lunch (pilgrim’s meal when I can get it)
7:00 pm - dinner (a light meal)

The route was hilly with two 150 m hills to ascend and descend. The walk was pleasant, through the countryside and 10 villages on the way to Pontevedra. The old town of Pontevedra is beautiful with many courtyards containing cafes and restaurants sprinkled about.

I crossed the medieval bridge of Pontesampio. This is where the Battle of Pontesampio occurred during the Spanish War of Independence in 1809 and the Spanish decidedly defeated the French.

At the 10 km point, in the forest, there were two pop-up vendors. The first had cold drinks and the second, about 100 m beyond, offered hot drinks, fruits and snacks. A welcome stop.

After 25 days of walking, I ran into Philippe (Italy). I hadn't seen him since my first day when his knees were hurting so badly that he didn't think that he could go on. We walked and caught up like we’d been friends for a lifetime (in Camino life I’ve known him for 25 years). While walking we talked and laughed about some of the trials and tribulations that each of us have had and how we’ve overcome them. Coincidentally, my wife, Jan, rode by us while we were talking. He told me that he now knew that at least one thing that I told him was true. Philippe continued on from Pontevedra, not worrying about where he would stay. He told me that he has had to sleep outside two nights already and that he wasn’t concerned if he didn’t find a bed.

At O Pobo, I came to a deviation and I chose the route to the left. It traveled along the tree lined Tomeza River. The dirt path was shaded and tranquil. The distance was only 300 m further than the main route (roadway) but the natural beauty and solitude were worth it. When there's a deviation I take it. The route is usually a little longer but nicer.

Last night I stayed in Albergue A Casa da Herba. Cotton sheets and a blanket were provided. It had a kitchen and washing machine, and was very clean. My room was bright with lots of windows. Highly recommended.
