gi-hun and in-ho have very different views of each other. gi-hun simply sees in-ho as an alliance, and a potential friend, if he isn’t one already.

with in-ho, things are way more complex. i’ll point out the obvious first; he’s obsessed with gi-hun. this obsession is mainly rooted in jealousy, confusion, and hurt. “why does he still have hope for society, and faith in humanity?” is a question he’s ruminated more than once. it’s painful to see someone endure the same trauma and become a better person because of it when you can’t do the same.

in-ho is drawn to gi-hun out of a desire to put an internal conflict to rest. he knows gi-hun’s mere existence represents the fact truly good people exist, and always have, and always will. he’s been aware of this since before gi-hun was a player. in his eyes, however, those people are either weak and taken advantage of, or there aren’t enough of them to make real change. he felt this was confirmed when the strategy he used in the games led him to victory- one i imagine was similar to sang-woo’s.

seeing someone with a different approach win made him wonder if his callousness was in vain. he justified his actions by telling himself gi-hun got lucky, and hoped he’d build a future around that luck. now, years later, he’s back to play the hero? he feels bad that his attempt is in vain, but at least he’ll learn his lesson; the system and those who play by its rules prevail.

a part of him hopes gi-hun will prove him wrong. he sees his past self in him; a man without his current philosophy. anyway, it’s definitely possible that there’s a homoerotic element to this fixation, as many people fall in love with people who remind them of themselves, but it will never be reciprocated after what he’s done. sad because in another universe they’d be a cute couple 😔

Yes, I agree that Gi-hun sees in-ho as a friend when he is Young-il.

I like how you bring up the jealousy and everything being the cause of the obsession (which is undeniable to me. he is absolutely obsessed with him in canon just not in the shipping way) I haven't thought a lot about how envious it would be for him to see how different they turned out.

I do also agree that In ho sees Gi-hun as weak for his morals. I think he wants to essentially teach him his ways, to maybe get him to be like him so that all of that envy goes away. he just has some very cruel and very homosexual methods. LMAO

I SO wish we could somehow get a universe where Gi-hun and past In-ho interact. That way we can have old man yaoi without the toxic nature for a change, even though that is what makes them so interesting.

People clown on shippers for shipping such a toxic ship that is essentially one sided as you mention, but thats the beauty of it. We don't necessarily find it pretty if they end up together. Sometimes we enjoy the one sided things because that's different from a typical romance. AND you can still enjoy it without getting as toxic/dark as possible.

I already wanted to KOG with this skill purely because it's a Yuya/Yuri shared skill, and that was enough for me. but then konami had to go and aim a nuke directly at me by calling it "Venomous Affection" and then it became 100x funnier for me. I knew what I had to do.

ALSO. NOT FOR NOTHING. BUT. I had ordered a physical copy of odd-eyes venom for myself last month to own, and literally THE NEXT DAY the skill got leaked. WHAT!!! the timing on that one was actually absurd. is someone at konami watching me. I'm still reeling over that one like what kind of coincidence!!??!!! or fate???!!!

ok back on track first and most importantly this was so much fun. THIS DECK IS AWESOME. I've become such a pendulum fan. I get it now. she can do it all!!! I had my ups and downs, my losing streaks, but it was all worth it. so much fun. and that's what it's all about!!

deck recipe as per usual:

this deck went through a LOT of trial and error. I started from platinum 1 -> KOG and during that I had plenty of time to experiment. I really didn't have much experience with pendulums prior to this (I used a really budget pend deck during Yuri's raid) so this took a LOT of practice. some combos I didn't learn until literally 3 days ago.

the 92 combos were SORTED. there are likely 92 more I can learn. <3

I think what I enjoy most about this deck is how every card works in tandem with each other so well. there's a lot of moving pieces and things to keep track of but once I get a full board, it's pretty hard to dismantle it!! all the monsters/pend zones/field spell work in a way to protect everything, and I love it :)

again. I must shout out odd-eyes vortex. my beautiful, stunning, omni negate BEAST. she does it all. I understand why she is limit 1 but konami consider. give me 2. I can be trusted. there is no greater joy than being able to pull this off:

FORBIDDEN DROPLET, THE PERPETUAL THORN IN MY SIDE NEGATED. JUST BEAUTIFUL.

odd-eyes venom came out solely to do the OTK. it's kind of resource intensive to get it out so I didn't rely on it but god when I could pull it off it was GOOD. GO MY TOXIC YAOI DRAGON!! GET VENOMOUS AFFECTION BLASTED!!!! she's just giving a lil kissy and sharing the love :) she also has a billion attack points that she stole <3 sharing the love !! 💜🩷❤️

black rose moonlight is actually a more recent addition. I think I added it when I was in legend 3? but she's good. I love sending special summoned monsters back to the hand. be GONE. aki sending her support to the next generation plant duelist 🫶

odd-eyes meteorburst didn't come out much at all, but it prevents my opponents monsters from using their effects during the battle phase, and can special summon a monster from the pendulum zone (at the cost of not being able to battle itself) so its use is really situational. cyberse quantum dragon sends a monster back to the hand when it battles, so I didn't always need it but it's a nice way to clear the board if necessary. I used it on face downs a bit.

beyond the pendulum is another situational one, it did get me out of some pinches, but truthfully I don't like link summoning so it was a bit of a last resort for me LMFAO. the destruction effect is solid, but it got negated like, 90% of the time so take it how you will.

no skill or deck can stand in the way of somebody who has seen yugioh arc-v episodes 132-135 just a few too many times. especially not with that skill name to back me up. I had everything I needed to succeed and I did it because I wanted to. because at the end of the day, "wouldn't it be funny to reach king of games with a skill called odd-eyes venomous affection?" it was. it really was.

Im so sorry i have so many much thoughts today n the shipname talk is always making me think about fetishization which this time made me think about one character in bungou stray dogs dw no spoils just fandom threating a character rant

Now Chuuya is one of my fav characters in bsd even tho hes grossly underutilzed n when we did get his backstory i thought it was pretty stupid but thats commentary for another time and trust me i have a lot to say about how all that was handled

But anyway chuuya has this nice mix of feminin n masculin traits. He wears his hair long, he cares about fashion and looking good a whole lot n hes generaly plenty compassionate. Hes also brawler on par with miruko tends to yell a whole lot n has batshit feral mode

I love him very much.

But just as with dabihawks, in chuuyas most popular ship theres always this big lean towards the other person and chuuya is usually kinda just support there. Like tbh i havent been in bsd fandom for a while but last time i went to check in all i found in the tag was porn so i didnt bother reading any. Porn n like one other thing. Both when i was active in the fandom n during my last check in a particular trope seems to be rather popular with chuuya

That trope is 'omg chuuya has to wear a dress for mission reasons n he HATES it and is very embaressed n dazai (his go to ship) keeps teasing and sexualizing him in it)

And ye thats exactly what i mean by fetishization. For mist people chuuya is the designated bottom so its popular for him to be fetishized and his femininity exploited for his partners shits n giggles. Like i think chuuya would be a fun character to explore gender with or the way he displays his masculinity but most of the time its just hehe embaressed man in dress so sexy

But srsly chuuya is so good he holds on to his hat when he fights so it doesnt fall off n ruin his look tm i love him

Oooh, now this is interesting! I have a friend who loves Dazai and has complaints about the ship too. 

Apparently many of the work that they’ve come across tends to bastardize Dazai’s character or make him out to be worse then he actually is in order to make Chuuya more sympathetic (or something similar to that). So to see that people who also love Chuuya have complaints on how the ship is written and how he gets treated too is kind of showing me that the fandom doesn’t really know how to write their characters XD (I know, I shouldn’t prejudge but it’s still interesting how fans of different characters in the same ship have similar complaints about it. I guess it’s a prevailant issue.)

It just seems like fans of the pairing fall into the more toxic “yaoi” traits when it comes to shipping them (shorter person is more submissive, because a dude looks slightly more feminine they’re act like a girl ect) and their actual personality traits get ignored.

That’s a shame, they both seem like fun characters and I can’t wait to see them in action (I guess I’ll eventually see first hand what you guys are talking about when it comes to content about them T-T).
