So you know how I previously yapped about how each of the girls who attempted did so out of a desire to be different? I noticed something else in the lyrics of the songs.

In every single song where the character attempted suicide, there's a particular line where the character expresses their desire for autonomy, their desire to live.

Disposable: "I just wanna be alive, but I feel like such a creep."

Irreverent: "If my life is spent in worship, then is it really mine?"

Splitter: "If this really wasn't the end, and I could do it again- do you think that i deserve it?"

Taxidermy: "don't wanna be a cadaver, wanna be free"

Refraction: "statue of glass tries to break free"

Suicide is rarely done out of a pure desire not to be alive- more so that you think it's the only option. All of these girls- despite having attempted, still express their desire to live.

Also!!! In the songs, there's also a line at some point that references how they feel trapped, hence their desire to escape (via their attempt).

Disposable: "What is it that makes you people never want me?" "I try so hard to be good, to be someone worth seeing. But all the names I get called, the way they treat me- don't try to lie to me and tell me I'm not ugly."

Irreverent: "Heavenly father, please alter this body. It's impure and sinful, I don't want it on me." "Even if you don't want to get to know him, we're gonna make sure that you get to know me."

Splitter: "So you can't stand to see me punishing myself? Only other option is to take it out on someone else."

Fainéant Girl made me cry

Not sure If its a good or bad thing that i relate to it, but i did like the song(s). Some subjects were personaly relatable, and others not exacly, but i understand them.

And all the lyrics are so well made, wow, 10/10 lyrics, pure poetry 👏👏👏👏👏

The melodies are definetely not bad, but its not what i usually listen to. i don't know how to describe it properly, or pinpoint what is it that bothers me, but usually It hurts my ears, BUT! in these ones the sounds didn't bother me. Im glad! otherwise i wouldn't be able to enjoy this artistic masterpiece.

The subjects of the songs were treated delicately and with respect, it's really trying to speak about the experiences of many people, giving them voice, telling our stories.

In the end, despite our struggles, past ones and current ones, there's still hope for healing, we can be helped, we can survive and live a good life

Oh, and the character designs are really good, can't forget to give that credit as well

SOMETHING I NOTICED ABOUT DISPOSABLE'S SONG + TPTM ANALYSIS

trigger/content warning: mentions of bullying, religious trauma, sexual trauma, CSA, homicidal/sui---al ideation, sui---e attempts

I think the fact Disposable Girl is the first in the series is really impactful because, in some way, all of the girls feel or felt disposable themselves- or that they'll become disposable due to something.

Kairi felt disposable, worthless due to co's urges and religious upbringing + purity culture

Tahira felt disposable and worthless due to her violent urges and trauma

Freyja felt disposable due to their disability hindering them from living a normal life, and everyone around them guilting them for things out of their control, and treating her like she's less-than because she can't do the same things she can.

Nora is scared of becoming disposable, feeling like work- output, benefiting others is the only positive trait she has, and likely felt disposable in childhood due to her undiagnosed autism.

Morgan feels disposable due to the abuse he endured, and is scared of it happening again. also the lyrics referring to chocolates invoke this idea of taking a bite out of a treat, and throwing the wrapper away.

Mayra feels disposable for a similar reason to Kairi and Morgan- feeling impure and disgusting due to abuse that took place before they could even remember; and also their reactions to said abuse

Joy feels disposable for a similar reason to Jordyn, feeling like she's not quite as worth it as other people, or otherwise feeling wrong, hence her journal entry saying "there's nothing I could ever do to make myself right."

Xiomara felt disposable for the same reasons as the rest of them.

I think it's really neat that the first and last (sad) girl both represent something not just in themselves but in other characters as well, only for the series to end off with a nice little bow of nurse parallel being like "DON'T GIVE UP!!! THINGS SUCK SOMETIMES BUT YOU'LL GET THROUGH IT!!!!!!!"

a little something i noticed about chocolate-box girl's song

CW: Mentions of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Trauma as a whole, sexual trauma, grooming, brief mention of suicidality

We know all of the girls have some form of PTSD. Nurse Parallel's DID is in remission, but all the others have PTSD, though in their medical records it's not classified as PTSD or C-PTSD. Disposable has C-PTSD, but in her form, it only says PTSD.

So as a result, I headcanon most of the characters as having C-PTSD. Their trauma is complex, and their songs discuss more than just a singular traumatic event...

Except for Morgan/Chocolate-Box Girl's song.

Disposable's song goes over bullying, feeling worthless and abandoned, etcetera, and she canonically has C-PTSD.

Irreverent's song goes over religious trauma; which is something she's experienced her whole life.

Splitter's song doesn't go over trauma in itself- we know she was abused, but we have no idea the specifics of it.

Faineant's song goes over living with chronic illnesses and ableism

Caliber's song is about burnout, constantly overworking yourself

Taxidermy's song is about sexual trauma, but she doesn't remember it; a majority of her trauma comes from how her mother reacted to it, hurting her repeatedly over her childhood.

Chemical's song is about feeling out of control as a result of 2 disorders (Borderline & Bipolar disorder) + a neurodevelopmental one (autism) that makes it hard for her to regulate her emotions

Refraction's song doesn't even GO OVER trauma, just her suicidality as a result.

CHOCOLATE-BOX GIRL'S song is the ONLY one in the series that focuses on a specific traumatic event; that traumatic event being the grooming and abuse he endured when it was thirteen. His journal says the same thing, she's focused on this one specific traumatic event. It has BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER, which comes from prolonged childhood trauma, and yet hes not discussing any other trauma aside from this one event.

Conclusion: all of the girls have C-PTSD except for chocobox, who has PTSD

This scene was so sad and the way you wrote it is phenomenal. I’m glad reader finally talked to Dani about this. Now both Dani and cass will be there for reader. However I truly wonder how reader will talk to Alcina and Bela about this. I doubt they would stop loving them if they tell but I feel like their reactions will be slightly different. I think alcina will be the last person reader will talk to about it because it’s kinda hard to admit to a mother that you killed her children in another timeline 💀

But honestly reader’s guilt is probably one of the most heartbreaking things in tptm. Imagine falling in love with this family who helped you when you forgot everything about who you were, only to be controlled into killing them again and again. That sense of hopelessness they felt in chp 13 or 14 (i dont remember 💀) when they were stuck in their head trying to go back but lunatic prevented it, or the first reality when lunatic blamed reader for being weak. It made reader think that they were the reason they all died, that they didn’t try hard enough to save them. The dimitrescus might forgive them but it’ll take a while for them to forgive themselves. Their story is so sad and I hope Dani and cass can comfort them 😭

honestly, i try to just show their trauma in small ways and i’m glad it’s been picked up so well. i mean, i couldn’t imagine waking up one day to this murderous family only for them to protect me and guide me into a fitting personality, only to one day have it all come crashing down in the span of mere minutes. i know some people think Reader’s actions are a little silly, and i would agree sometimes, but that’s the unfortunate reality of trauma and mental illness :( even though they’ve told Cass and Dani, what can they really do? they didn’t witness it. they weren’t there. they don’t wake up from nightmares that it’s happening again

but, now that Dani knows and seeing how she’s better at physical comfort, she’ll know better how to ground them, and i think that’s what they need
