reintroducing... Railway Misconductor

I made a big list of names for the project formerly called Train Puzzle dot exe (title pending) including various proposals from myself and some of the people who responded to my call soliciting names for the game. Thanks to all those on tumblr and various discord servers who contributed names. Then me and @msasterisk (and @wisdomsavingthrow too since you can't vote with a small even number of participants) ran through a double elimination tournament bracket, discussing each of the options.

The winning name is Railway Misconductor. (For the record, the runners-up were Shunt Everything!, Go Shunt Yourself, and Train Puzzle dot exe (title pending)).

For those just joining us, Railway Misconductor is a game under development by myself and @msasterisk, based on several model railroad switching layouts, including Inglenook Sidings and Timesaver, as well as various other inspirations and original puzzles. It takes place on Gymnome, an alien planet inhabited by amorphous agender bipeds, the Gymnomi Slimes, and more specifically, on the South Lymer Railroad (the SLYM). You operate SLYM No.11513, a modern Advanced Steam tank engine on various yard switching duties of increasing complexity.

There will be minimal story, but the characters--the orange Conductor, who relays the orders from dispatch or the yard manager to the player and has to go throw the switches, and the blue Engineer, who runs the locomotive itself--will have dialogue tying into the player's progression.

There is no release timeline.

If you were to make Mice Tea again, with the stipulation that it cannot be a visual novel, while also being given an unlimited budget. What game genre would the game be? What would the mechanics be like? ETC..

Okay, so we've put a few words on a screen in our dev chat that maybe a little RPG with a goofy, tea-brewing-based battle system starring the Mice Tea cast in a fantasy setting might be fun. But that wouldn't overlap with the original Mice Tea story at all.

The genre that would most entice the highest number of dev team members would probably be a tactical RPG or something, but that's also difficult to cram into Mice Tea's setting and story too.

So for a game that would recreate the original story, we would have to go with... train simulator. You drive the train to get characters to their next scene and it plays out the narrative there. Sometimes scenes happen during a route too. And there's a lot of scenes where the train's really crowded so the character's butt or boobs or dick is pressed up against the door window. We'll be the world's first erotic Densha de Go!! clone!

...actually I'm not super confident I can say that definitively.

The Derail Valley Railway Museum is proud to unveil the sixth and final exhibit in its fleet, DM3-540 No.56, the Demonstrator of the DM3-540 class.

Those of you who have visited before may remember that the DM3 was the last straggler that we couldn't locate for a long time. But thanks to the tireless work of our volunteers, we managed to get the DM3 repaired in record time.

Not that it's a race.

Pay no mind to the DM1U in the repair berth with a crumpled front and shattered windows. We do not encourage racing with Museum equipment and would certainly obey all speed restrictions in the valley no matter how quickly and unannounced they may change.

In other news, the DE6 Demonstrator has had its first run-in,

Leading a consist with two DVRT DE6s, pulling a train of nitrogen tankers for the food factory, excavators for the western iron ore mine, and two cuts of acetylene containers for the machine factory. It performed swimmingly, arriving on time for all deliveries except the last, earned the museum enough money to restore the DM3 demonstrator all in one go!

Delving further into my headcanon that Spinner collects copies of vintage media (i.e. today's media that's become vintage by MHA's timeline), I like the idea that he sometimes shows the Vanguard his old films.

After binging the HTTYD trilogy one night, I imagine this happened at least once after the fact:

Touya: Thank you for nothing, you useless reptile.

Spinner: *...you know, I guess I did show him a movie where a misunderstood kid was eventually accepted by his estranged father, so he can have this one...* Yeah, yeah, good one, asshole. Didja like the movie?
