#transformers alternate modes

Do you think that cybertronians (after the war) have a lot of political/social discourse about the erasure of cybertronian alt modes?

Like with how many bots have traveled to colonies, other alien planets, and earth that they’d adopt different alt modes. Some prefer it to their og ones, some didn’t even have a og cybertronian alt modes cause they weren’t born there. So there’s a big discourse over cataloging and preserving og alt modes. There is also spiritual and/or religious ties to that concept as well. So it’s a big deal with the rebuilding of cybertronian society. I was just thinking about how it’d go over with how important alt modes were, and how the cybertron of the past is being slowly overwritten over the years because of the war. How would they cope with losing parts of their history or culture, or someone choosing to not be apart of it and choose something else?

This is also from me considering the fact that a lot of the transformers community wants to see more og cybertronian alt modes.

so last night, I did exactly that. starscream, thundercracker and skywarp's earth vehicle modes but instead of them being F-15s, they're F-14s.

After the combaticons were displaced in time to world war 2 era earth, and following their alliance with the axis forces, blast off would overwrite his cybertronian air craft alt mode in favor of a WW2 era biplane. When the stasis locked bodies of the combaticons were rediscovered in the present day by the decepticons, and subsequently repaired so they could be brought back online, blastoff would replace his outdated alt mode with his scanning of a modern upper atmosphere capable fighter jet. Previously having hid the loneliness he feels when his alt mode brought him to places his fellow combaticons could never reach behind an attitude of disgust towards those incapable of exo atmospheric movement, blast off's experiences in WW2 have allowed him to move beyond this. That time, well it left all of the combaticons feeling closer than they'd ever been before

Okay, so I’m trying again at Lux’s alt mode, this being what I have so far

I was starting this page by trying to draw Nova from Anodyne 2 as a Transformer, since she has a car form in game and I thought it’d be fun

But in the process of starting, I was like “wait, what if I use Nova’s car form as inspiration for Lux?” I mean it’s not a direct real life vehicle, so it’s not too far off from making it Cybertronian

So that’s what I started doing instead

I’m not done, not at all, but I’m getting somewhere. It’s difficult when I don’t really have experience in drawing cars and the like

The top left is my most recent and probably what I’ll mainly draw from

It’s the back that I’m not so sure what goes on there. I kind of want it to be something that can be uncovered, like it’s otherwise being shelled away, but I don’t know what it is. I was thinking something translucent, or just something normally plated, or maybe a concealed weapon? Like a cannon or something. I don’t know yet

But yeah, I guess for now, Lux is going to be some sort of land shuttle thing? It works I suppose

Also I do have a colored version of one of those helms I showed yesterday. The one most based on the original

I’m mostly showing it for the changed colors, though I do still feel like changing it a bit more

So she’s more blue now. I have it in my head that if she weren’t named for her significance, her name would probably be Cobalt, or something else to do with blue. And/or her colors weren’t immediate after she was born, being initially uncolored, and it was only afterwards that Megatron was like “oh wow she’s really blue. Maybe I should have named her after that”

She’s probably not entirely blue, I think she’ll have silver on her too, I just don’t know where or how prevalent

But yeah, I don’t know. Just updating you on the very slow process of creating this character

1st inspired by one of @ kaontic posts where skyb!Carly and g1!Carly interacts and skyb!Carly holding Megatron in his alt mode. it made me thinking about it a lot and i even did an au where skybound lore went in a little different way. i hope that i'll write about it here!

nagi didn't get excited about much. football? a mild interest. food? only when it was easy to eat. but video games... video games were almost interesting. and his new girlfriend, was almost interesting, too.

both of you had been dating for a week. a week of quiet smiles, shared snacks, and the occasional, almost hesitant, hand-holding. you were... cute. shy. obsessed with sanrio. nagi found it all mildly amusing, in a way that didn't require much effort.

"want to... play valorant?" he'd asked, the suggestion feeling almost strenuous.

"oh. sure. i... i play sometimes." you meekly replied.

sometimes turned out to be a gross understatement.

thirty minutes into your first-ever gaming session at nagi's place, nagi was frozen. petrified. utterly and completely dumbfounded.

you, his sweet, timid, sanrio-loving girlfriend, was not the same person.

your voice, usually a soft murmur, was now a roaring, guttural shout. words nagi hadn't even heard rin use were flying out of your mouth, aimed at your unfortunate opponents.

"GET F***ING REKT, YOU MOUTHBREATHER! ARE YOU BLIND? OPEN YOUR EYES, YOU PIECE OF SH**!"

your fingers, usually delicate and hesitant when you held his hand, were now a blur, a whirlwind of furious clicking and mousing. your face, normally flushed with shy blushes, was contorted in a mask of intense, bloodthirsty concentration.

nagi stared, slack-jawed, at the transformation. the gentle, pastel-colored room, filled with your plushies, seemed to vibrate with the sheer intensity of your…. rage.

he watched, horrified, as you clutched your headset, your face inches from the screen, screaming obscenities that would make rin blush. every kill was met with a triumphant roar, every death with a string of curses that nagi didn't even know existed.

he'd expected... well, he hadn't really expected anything. but certainly not this. not this... berserker mode.

he felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead. this was the same girl who had squeaked in delight when he'd won her a hello kitty keychain at the arcade. this was the same girl who had blushed crimson when he'd accidentally brushed her hand.

who was this person?

the match ended. you ripped off her headset, chest heaving, a wild, triumphant grin spreading across her face.

"yes! we f***ing won! that's what you get, asshat!"

you turned to nagi, eyes still blazing with adrenaline. and then, your expression softened, the wildness fading, replaced by a sheepish smile.

"oh. nagi. sorry. did i... did i get a little loud?"

nagi could only stare, his mind blank. he was pretty sure his brain had just short-circuited.

"loud...?" he croaked, his voice barely a whisper.

you giggled, the sound almost... normal

"yeah. i get a little... competitive. when i play. sorry if i scared you."

scared him? scared him was an understatement. he was traumatized. he was questioning his entire reality. he was wondering if he'd accidentally wandered into some kind of alternate dimension.

he finally managed a weak, "it's... fine."

but it wasn't fine. it was terrifying. and fascinating. and... maybe, just a little bit... interesting.

nagi seishiro, the boy who found almost everything tedious, had just discovered that his girlfriend was a terrifying, foul-mouthed, gaming goddess.

and he had absolutely no idea what to do about it.

✿ Forgotten Land Roleswap AU ✿

✦ 3rd Anniversary ✦

I was hoping to get this Light Novel cover redraw finished by today, but I haven't been feeling well and ran out of time- but I still wanted to at least share this WIP and muse on how much things have grown during these three years, and how much this project has meant to me so far.

April 12, 2022 was the day I created posted the first doodles that would, unbeknownst to me at the time, germinate the idea that would transform into a passion project spanning multiple years. I had just finished Kirby and the Forgotten Land's story and slowly getting back into the Kirby fandom space for the first time in years. It had been a long time since a game made me feel as wonderful as Forgotten Land did. I've loved Bandana Waddle Dee since I first played Return to Dreamland on the Wii when I was a kid, and wished he had more opportunities to shine outside of directly supporting Kirby in the game. I also love "What If" and "Roleswap" AUs, so I considered what would happen if I swapped Bandana Dee and King Dedede's role in the game.

The posts didn't really get much traction at first, which was fine. But I kept going back to the idea after a few days and thinking about how to push it further. Instead of just swapping Bandee and Dedede, what if Dedede was Player 1 to increase the stakes of rescuing the kidnapped Waddle Dees? Dedede wouldn't have access to Mouthful Mode, so how would the gameplay work then? Instead of Kirby taking care of everything with his own Mouthful Mode, it could be more fun to have Meta Knight be Player 2 instead, and explore their teamwork dynamics and problem-solving methods together!

So I explored an alternative- Combo Mode! And developing and researching ideas for that lit a spark within me! I had to keep going after that!

Now I had to consider, if I'm already swapping around all the main characters, I'm starting to have an entirely new universe here! What's next to change up? For the heroes' companion, I felt like Elfilin wouldn't behave very differently in this AU than in canon, he would probably continue to be friendly and helpful and sweet. Which would be okay- but to make things more interesting for myself, what if I played around with the origin story of the missing pieces of Fecto Forgo and switched "Elfilis" and "Elfilin" around? That way there's new obstacles and possibilities there and maybe I can even surprise some people with the lore down the line!

Now I'd had my Dream Team shuffled around, a very different mysterious companion for them... And why stop there? Why not play with the Beast Council's roles too while I'm at it to make things even more interesting for myself to write?!

To my more recent work...

...Now here we are.

It'd been a long, long time since I enjoyed the creation process of anything for myself like this! I was coming out of some pretty hard times in the early 2020s, and in a lot of ways, this AU has been there alongside me during a years-long journey to get help for my mental health, to become more confident in who I am and what I can bring to the world around me, and to love myself. Now I'm the best version of myself I've ever been, and I can pour so much more into my art and writing, especially with this AU!! <3

AND MAN, does it feel good to see physical evidence of my art style's evolution side-by-side! Like comparing my first Light Novel cover redraw from 2022 with my current WIP!

Creating this AU has taught me so much about storytelling, the medium of comics, organization, and most of all, to enjoy the process and really push my personal limits in a positive way. I've met so many amazing people since starting this story, some of whom have inspired me in ways I never could've imagined. Some very key people have even helped me ponder different mediums to tell this story.... Some animatics... or maybe even more interactive storytelling...? I am slow cooking some fun ideas, dear reader....

This AU gave me the confidence to become more involved in the fandom space and find community among people who have taught me so much. I am so, so grateful for this project.

I know it's taken some time to get here. I still work full-time and now I'm pursuing a second bachelor's in hopes of a career change that will allow me more time to focus on creating someday. But for now, free time can be frustratingly limited for me. It's also taken this long because I've put a lot of thought into how to set up the metaphorical "dominos" in the forms of foreshadowing and world-building I want, to do my best to make the wait worth it for the future plot pay-offs and reveals I have planned!! I'm hoping to continue to pick up speed with updates as I increase my skill and solidify my master plan for this story... MUAHAHA....

I plan on seeing this project to the very very end, and I can't wait to continue this journey with you all. Especially with the announcement of Star-Crossed Worlds!!! I'm not too worried about it turning my AU lore upside-down quite yet since it's post-game content and my bigger lore drops are still a little bit away, so I have time to navigate that when it does drop :3
