Costuming can be rough as a male dancer. I’ve gotten a few inquiries about how I source my costumes and the answer is generally custom work. Most of the larger stores like Dahlal don’t carry men’s costuming unless I just pick separates. At least fusion costuming is easier as I can mix and match and find lovely custom pieces. But that takes time, and I constantly have to be on the lookout for things that will work together. Traditional styles are harder, and always have to be made custom, which means more $$$. It would be nice to find some costuming for guys that’s more accessible to new performers and advanced students.
