I literally don't care what people click on ao3 I'm just having fun making up a guy. have you tried making up a guy for fun? it's great. for example one of my friends invented a man who does salvia repeatedly recreationally for fun. salvia guy. love him

Whump writers:
Dedicate your attention to the badass, awesome, beautiful things happening in your story.
You see this in a lot of popular genres but this is even more important for survivor fiction!!
Sounds counterintuitive?
Imagine writing two versions of the same story:
A teenager is enslaved by an army that treats her like a literal dog. She becomes practically feral under comstant abuse and life-or-death situations, finally breaking free in the middle of an apocalyptic event.
Or,
A teenager is forced to work for an underground army, but she sways an entire battalion into working for her instead.
See how the second one is inspiring? Tell me if you guys feel the same way!

Why is your Taako cosplay just a busy assortment or jewelry and fabrics instead of going off his actual description in the show. He also doesn’t wear weird multicolored makeup.
It’s seems kinda homophobic to cosplay the only gay character and make him into a caricature of gay people as extremely flamboyant and messy
.... This one did make me laugh, I won't lie. It's funny how I used to have anon asks on, and a couple of people used that to harass me. And then I turned it off and suddenly nobody had a thing to chat shit about. Then I went and turned them back on, and now I get this frankly unbelievable message. It's so funny to me how people only have the confidence to say things like this behind anonymity. Have some strength in your convictions, my dude!
Taako's 'actual description in the show' is, as far as I remember, as extensive as him being an elf, and a couple of things about various outfit choices he has made. So if you're fussy about cosplayers matching canon designs, I'm going to assume you're asking why I don't match Carey's designs from the graphic novels. I have said this before many times, about all of my cosplays, but regardless of what media i'm cosplaying from, I use canon as a guideline and not a rule book. I emphasise the 'play' aspect of cosplay - it should be about having fun, doing things in a way that you enjoy. The way that I design and build my cosplays is based on what is fun for me, and that is, always, being eccentric and ecclectic. You might want to focus on finding fun in your own life instead of coming for folks when the things they enjoy in no way affect you or your life.
You don't think he wears 'weird' makeup, and that's fine. But hey, huge spoiler alert, Taako isn't real! He's a made up guy in a made up world. He doesn't do anything. So, in turn, my Taako can do whatever the hell I want him to do. I do eccentric, loud makeup, and lots of accessories for all of my cosplays, regardless of who the character is and how they identify. You took the time to look at my Taako cosplay, so perhaps take the time to look at my Cecil, Dabi, Cherry, Mollymauk, and Link, and you'll see that I do that for all of them. When I get around to testing out my newest cosplay, I'm going to do the exact same thing for him too. In my regular life, I wear eccentric clothes and accessories, and do loud makeup too. It's my whole thing and always has been, so there's no reason why I wouldn't cosplay in a way that feels good to me too.
If you're going to come for me, at least have a full understanding of my whole deal before you do, because your 'critique' doesn't really have any legs to stand on when you think about it. Your argument that my approach is 'homophobic' might have some basis if Taako was the only character I was doing it with, but presenting in a queer fashion is fundamental to who I am as a person, and to how I cosplay every character. So no, it's not homophobic for me, as a queer person, to cosplay a queer character in a queer way.
And hey, if you still have a problem with my Taako cosplay, go and look at how other people cosplay him. We're all being loud and fun and having a good time playing dress up. And when you've finished that, take a deep breath, and try finding your own joy in something other than harrassment. You might just find that it enriches your life.

It’s been a long time coming, but I finally finished Turnabout Revolution!
I enjoyed quite a lot about this finale case, and actually I liked Spirit of Justice quite a lot as a whole. I went in knowing almost nothing about it. Truth be told, I tempered my expectations. In the age of the Internet, it was all but impossible to avoid the whispers of the fandom. Many peoples’ opinions weren’t favorable to put it nicely.
SoJ might not be perfect, but I found plenty of things to like about it. I actually quite enjoyed the addition to Apollo’s backstory, Dhurke, Datz, the revolution as a whole, and surprisingly, Rayfa. She’s the one who surprised me the most with her character development. Over the course of SoJ she holds certain beliefs, and comes to challenge them and form her worldview. She’s in the unique position of being the assistant to both the defense (following them during their investigations) and the prosecution (performing the divination seance to show the last moments of the dead.) Her insights ended up being so important for the true ending and I honestly find that suitable. SoJ was just as much Rayfa’s story as it was Apollo and Nahyuta’s and I enjoyed seeing all the details about her rather dramatic family history come together.
My verdict for Spirit of Justice is: It was a fun ride, and definitely worth spending my time with!
I look forward to the bonus case. 💖

While we're all looking for other social media now that the ones that took over the internet are all imploding, Itaku looks pretty promising for art. Has a good tagging system, gallery pages, and a global feed showing all the latest posts and shares for visibility. Here's mine: https://itaku.ee/profile/jamharts I'm...gonna need to pick which sites to keep and drop at some point or my carrd is gonna get sillay

When I was early on in my transition I got in a Lyft, and the driver was this big country guy. I was a little nervous so I just sat quietly in the back.
After a moment he changed the music on his phone to what sounded like a Hatsune Miku song. Curiosity got the better of me, so I finally spoke up and said “is this Hatsune Miku?”
And he said “Yep. You looked uncomfortable, and I know Transgender women like Hatsune Miku, so I thought it might help.”
I think about that interaction a lot.

People still tend to lump JK Rowling in with the category of ~problematic artists~ and I need everyone to understand that is not the problem with her. She is not comparable to anyone who wrote a piece of fiction you hate, or someone who made rude comments in 2015 and has since learned better.
She is far more like Elon Musk. She is a radicalized person with an extreme amount of social and financial power, and for YEARS she has been using that power to try to influence her government into hurting vulnerable people, on purpose. And she has succeeded. THAT is the problem with her, and THAT is why spending money on her books is so dangerous, not because her books aged badly.
Critiquing her work is fine, of course (I personally was never a fan so I really don’t care) but you NEED to understand that fiction is not the main issue here. And I truly think acting like she’s the same as the rest of any giant list of ~problematic creators of the week~ waters down how dangerous she is.
