#trying to develop a quick drawing style for answers like this

Continuing on the last ask about learning to start drawing OCs, do you have any tips on developing styles? I find it really difficult to “let go” of the need for things to be proportional or physically accurate, but I really want to start developing a more cartoon style.
Hi! In reference to this last post. I'm going to site a lot of stuff from a book called Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud. It's a great resource for anyone interested in cartooning, visual art, and comics as a unique storytelling art form.

Cartooning, whether it’s for comics or animation, is a very utilitarian art form. Cartooning skills and an artist's style are often forged in the hellfire of a deadline. For example, what my art style looks like when I've drawn an 80-panel comic in one week looks very different from a single illustration I’ve done in that same time frame.
Cartoonists simplify for the function of needing to draw everything by hand over and over and over again. But we also simplify for the emotional universality of the cartoon image! As stated by McCloud in the following three images.

Technically all 2D art is a form of caricature because we are reducing our 3D reality onto a 2D plane - which inherently abstracts form. Anytime someone sits down to draw (or write), they're engaging with a level of representation within pictorial space.

As an artist, we inevitably work in all modes at some point or another. But I think most artists will show a preference towards different corners of this diagram and that influences their style!
Ask yourself: where would you place the style you're seeking to achieve on this triangle? There's a more detailed version below with many cartoonists and styles for more examples.

I like this diagram especially because it shows the wide variety of cartoonist's styles. That's why this ask has been particularly tricky for me to answer. It's hard to give advice on becoming more cartoony without knowing what that specifically means for you, anon!
That said, I can still give some general good practice tips that hopefully anyone can utilize in their cartooning journey!
Figure drawing. Short poses (1-5 minutes). Figure drawing from life is ideal because life very rarely sits still. If you don't have any figure drawing studios in your area then go to libraries and coffee shops. You can also ask friends or family to sit for you. And finally there are figure drawing resources online that often include timers. Tip: Try drawing only with ink so you can’t erase. You won't have to do this forever but it's a great way to live with the "happy accidents" and then move on to the next drawing!

2. Gesture lines and S-curves. The gesture line captures the initial motion of the pose and will often follow the direction of the spine! S-curves are the alternating "S" shaped curves that represent the distribution of weight across the body. Exaggerating the S-curves is how cartoonists and animators often push the expressive form of the figure. When drawing the figure try to find the gesture line first and then build the weight of the pose on top of that!

3. Give yourself a deadline. Set a timer. Stick to it! Even if all you manage is a quick line gesture. Just move on to the next pose!
Finally, I really recommend reading Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud! It's a wonderful resource that anyone interested in the visual arts could benefit from reading. I first read it 17 years ago, back in my high school film class.
Phew! That's a long one. Hopefully, there's some useful info in there for you. But do feel free to ask any follow-up questions. And good luck on your cartooning journey! 🖤
(There's also another ask in my inbox about drawing cartoonish expressions. I'm working on a response but it may take a little bit. But don't worry, I'll have a detailed answer to that in the coming weeks!)

Are there parts of anatomy you struggle with?
Short Answer: If they count: proportions, hands, feet, "masculine" faces Long Answer:
Proportions
So my main thing I think is proportions. I tend to default to one "height" which I basically think of as just my height (5'3" / 160cm) and that's where I base everything off of. A bit quick n rough, but the middle here is the height I tend to most default to. Left and right are other "default" heights I have since it's the easiest for me to visualize it in my head. But ultimately they're still compared to the middle default "me" height when I'm drawing.
Left short height is how based off of Sister of Mine's height and Right tall height is based off of my previous partners lol
Any shorter or taller or anything in between I kinda have to really fiddle with it since it's harder for me to visualize. Default height is easy, since that's mine and I know where my arms/legs/whatever start and end. With the other two, I can basically just imagine them compared to me, but I still have to think harder than I normally would trying to portray those heights. Am I making sense? Idk Idk if this counts but any shorter than the left "short" height (i.e. children) I also don't know much how to portray since to me they end up just looking like Adults with Tiny Bodies like Ye Paintings of Olde
Hands
This is a pretty common one, but I'm a bit picky at this point. I personally think I have a good grasp on hands, but I really don't like sketching out the structure for hands and stuff since it's a lot of sketching, resketching, and fine tuning.
Over time I've developed some hand poses that my brain can kinda just pull up and draw really easily (some examples above). It works better for my simpler pieces, or if I combine it with some obfuscation (props, hair, clothes, w/e) but of course it doesn't really work for my more "high effort" pieces
So what do I do if I want to make better looking hands? Use references, of course! It took me a while to graduate from "artist who thinks references is cheating like tracing" to "artist who knows references are a useful tool", but I'm glad I got there since it's so much easier to structure a hand when you can see how it's supposed to look like!
Some examples here of pieces where I've used pictures of my own hands as reference. No pics of the references themselves, though since I don't really like posting pics of myself (sorry!) A tiny bit related, but for full body stuff I tend to take full reference shots of myself as reference as well, and it's really nice especially for more "involved/dynamic" poses.
Feet
So, the problem isn't "I don't know how to draw feet" since I mostly just use my own references like I do with my hands, but it's more like "how do I render this without it looking like I'm a foot fetishist" If I don't render it like the rest of the piece, it's gonna look weird and incomplete and like I don't know how to draw feet. But I need to be careful since (to me) it's kinda easy to get carried away with details and overrender and it just looks like I like feet a bit too much. So for the most part when I've ended up having to draw feet it was for simpler things where I don't really need to render them much at all. I think the only piece where I've managed to strike a good balance was this Nagumo piece I did a while back.
Actually, fun fact, this was originally sketched like two years prior but I never ended up finishing it until later, and I'm glad I waited since I definitely wouldn't have been able to solve the Rendering Problem back then :L
Masculine Faces
No pictures since this is still a problem I'm kinda embarrassed about it but think like Jojo Character, Kiryu Yakuza, Kenshiro FIst of the North Star, you know the big macho man type face. Since my style tends to be a lot rounder, more "sharp" masculine features like that don't really fit well with how I draw, I think. It also comes down a lot to their eyes, which I think I struggle with the most too.
#not art#ask#long post#sorry I took so long to answer anon lol I just haven't been in the mood to put together/draw the pictures just so I can explain things well#hopefully they make sense!

Welcome to the MS Pop Star Ask Blog!
This is a ask blog for the various titular characters of Dream Land in a loose yet-simple mspaint style.
“The setting takes place in a continuous consistent 'after' the most recent game release. This setting takes place in a modified mix of the Game-verse and Novel-verse. Almost everyone from the games are here to answer questuons and by everyone, I mean everyone. (i.e. Galacta Knight and President Max Profit Haltmann) The dead are now alive, though possibly not well. Not necessarily in Dream Land though. So come, come and send some asks to this 923kb land!”
Keep Reading For More Information
Questions will be answered directly by a character while others will be treated as a prompt. Note, this askblog is more gag-ish in nature than anything so not everything depicted is my honest and true interpretation and head-canon of a character or thing. A lot of it has exaggerations for the sake of humor.
Rules
Please be sure to follow these!
Please keep your questions Kirby related unless it's a direct question to the mod of this here ask blog.
No NSFW or gore related questions. There may be violence depicted on this blog but it will never be anything serious. NSFW will never be allowed on this blog. At most, innuendos will be used here and there to imply things. Even if shipping comes into play or if you direct the question at a adult character such as Meta Knight, Kirby, Susie, or Taranza I don't plan to draw MSPaint smut on this blog. That's weird and you're weird for wanting that.
I do not have intentions to have pairings be apart of the general universe at the current moment. While shipping isn't forbidden on this blog, please do not get your hopes up for certain pairings to appear or get upset if a pairing you dislike does appear. Shipping will be a option once I've reach enough asks answered and even then, it will be a poll whether such content will even occur on this blog.
No spamming. If you ask a question once, only ask it once. If you spam a question it will not be answered and I will delete it.
Please be patient! I made this blog out of my love of Kirby, to creatively think more, and to draw more often for myself and others! I may not get to every question as quick as you'd like.
No OC related asks. This is a mostly canon focused blog. I also worry about accidentally portraying an OC incorrectly and offending others because of it so I want to put it out there I do not accept asks with OCs in them. If you want a specific interaction and want to actively interact with the characters yourself, such asks will be done using "Anon Waddle Dee".
Any and all images on this blog are free to share and use for non-commercial purposes. Meaning, it's fine to share this art, use it, if you want to put my art on a shirt for personal use that is fine too!
If you have any questions, concerns, or you just want to chat please go shoot me a message at @capicola323427
META AND WORLD-BUILDING INFORMATION
This is just general information about the ask blog's universe! This can update so check back every now and then!
Pop Star and other planets are interconnected in various ways for communication and importing/exporting of goods, through differing levels of technology and means.
Some planets are barren and underdeveloped, such as Planet Floria. Other planets are booming giga-cities like Planet Mecheye.
Technological developments depend on the planet and what is imported from other planets, however, Pop Star generally technology up to a rudimentary working internet but not everyone uses it.
"World Ending" characters like Dark Matter or Fecto Elfilis are able to be asked asks, but it isn't like they're free to walk about. Like Zero & Dark Matter are biding time in the recesses of a barren planet on the outskirts of Gamble Galaxy! I will try my best to create a reasonable explanation for those sorts of things if asked, so please be patient!
Not every character is at Pop Star, Dream Land!

How to Play Twenty Questions
Words: 7,444 Rating: Teen and Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Tim Drake/Lonnie Machin Summary: I give an anarchist a sexuality crisis Tags: Pre-Relationship, Developing Relationship, Enemies to Friends to Lovers, Missing Scene, Pre-New 52, New Earth, Coma, There's one scene done in the style of a chatfic at the end, This is rather slice of life for superheroes, There's a lot of talking and not much mission
Preview:
Adjusting to life the way it’s turned lately has been… labyrinthine, to put it mildly. That is, Lonnie’s been doing as he always does– surviving at all costs– but it’s not as if that’s been made easy for him to do.
He doesn’t tell anyone about the worst parts of it; the aches that score bone-deep and radiate through his muscle tissue and nervous system, the numbed and prickly pieces of his body that he can’t feel at all, or the arrant humiliation of knowing that someone much, much less intelligent than him had been allowed to cause this much harm– to name a few.
Steve Neumann. Sean Jacobs. Dave McEvoy. Their families will never see them again, and Lonnie has helped make that happen.
There is something gut-wrenchingly devastating in how completely, how irreparably, a fascist child playing soldier dress up has razed Anarky to the ground. The people will never trust the moniker again. Brought on by a gunshot– incomprehensibly quick and calamitously loud, perpetually drumming in repetition in the depths of his skull, always where it hurts the most– Lonnie Machin has lost at once his sword and shield, and Gotham’s voice has been choked off–
To name a few more.
These are the things he believes he will never tell anyone. See, there is nothing so torturous as being so totally and finitely unable to do anything to reverse the slaughter of one’s singular, self-made purpose in the century of life gifted at birth. There is one thing that Anarky wants, one penultimate goal for the people he’s vowed to protect– but as it’s turned out, he can’t even protect three people from someone who should never have presented as big a threat as he did.
There are no how-to manuals about recovering from that.
So, he doesn’t tell anyone about it.
Instead, he moves his knight on Chess.com and waits for Tim’s answering play.
“Interesting.” Tim hums, and he looks like he wants to talk smack, but for whatever reason, something stays his hand. Rather, tongue.
Lonnie dreams of telling him off for it, but he settles instead for, “No commentary for the spectators?”
“Not when my spectator is working as my opponent.” The on-break vigilante responds, a grin cracking across his lips. Tim is half-undressed from his gear, his belts and cape discarded in a chair by the wall, and his gloves are dangling off the arm of the one he’s pulled up next to Lonnie’s bed. His hair is disheveled, and at its current length, it flops to either side of his temples, curling a tad around his ears. It’s a strange contrast to the cropped cuts he’d gelled to the nines back in the day, and Lonnie suspects that if he were to reach out and touch it, it would be softer than he’s ever seen it before. If not somewhat sweaty, that is.
“Your turn.” Tim mentions, which draws Lonnie’s attention back to the game–
Where it becomes evident that he’s losing. Badly.
“I hope this hasn’t been too easy for you.” The computer pipes up, as Lonnie simultaneously stalls for time, and watches Tim’s reaction.
Alas, it reveals everything that Lonnie was afraid of.
“What? Of course not.” Tim laughs, too hastily, too stridently.
Fancying a sigh, the anarchist resigns the game, the sting of disappointment washing frigidly through his veins, not unlike the feeling of the IV drip when it releases medicine into his bloodstream.
“Hey– you could have come back from that.” Tim is trying to placate Lonnie, and the spider knows this. But it tastes bitter against Lonnie’s tonsils, so in spite of Tim’s most well-meaning intentions, he rejects them.
“I’m not going to insult you by banking on you losing to gross negligence or sheer accident. It’s fine. Let’s start again.”
Lonnie invites Tim to a new game, and in silence, the pair begin.
It takes less than ten moves for Lonnie to get wise to what Tim is doing.
He resigns again, which makes Tim blanch, his head shooting up to peer at his friend in unwarranted surprise. “You were winning!”
Lonnie can’t clench his jaw, nor hit the keys on a virtual keyboard with any force, but he hopes that the voice of the screen reader makes his disdain apparent. “Do you have any idea how belittling it is to let me win?”
Tim Drake is known to be a fantastic liar. But Lonnie Machin is known to be truthful to a fault. He identifies Tim’s tells as they happen. “I wasn’t–”
“Save it.” The robotic voice cuts him off, and Tim’s jaw shutters. “If you’re not going to play a fair game, I don’t want to participate. I won’t enable cheating, and I certainly won’t be complicit in it. I can’t believe you’d try something like that.”
Red Robin passes like a cloud over Tim’s icy eyes. “I didn’t want you to get discouraged.”
Lonnie itches to laugh. “Whatever. Let’s get back to business; we have a lot to do, don’t we?”
“I mean, we could take a few more minutes–”
“Let's get back to business.” Lonnie pushes harder.
And Tim doesn’t need to don the cowl for Lonnie to be able to pinpoint the changes in his posture, in the way he distributes his own weight, for him to know that he’s speaking with the recently-graduated former protege of the Batman, now, rather than his new best pal, Tim Drake-without-the-Wayne.
“Fine.” Tim stands, as he prefers to do when discussing matters like this. Lonnie wonders if he’s aware he does it. “What’d you find on the new Lynx?”

hello!!
i honestly think this is a really weird question to ask; but, in your opinion—what age group people should watch bl dramas?
i'm a teen atm who just reads bl fanfics, but lately i've been getting a bunch of bl drama fmvs on my recommendations on yt😭 and it kinda makes me feel tempted to watch the dramas, but i think i'm a bit too young for it, so i'd appreciate if you could tell me what age i should prolly start watching at :D
thank you in advance, i hope you have a good day/night!!
Hum, good question. I'm not sure. I started reading pretty racy stuff very young, so I don't think I'm the best judge.
But there are certainly BLs that if you read fanfic already, just have lite romances and a bit of smooching. So 13 maybe?
I wouldn't necessarily "recommend it," because I can't make that choice for you. You know yourself much better than I do. But there is certainly BL I would classify as YA in a section of a "bookstore," if that helps?
I think you'll want to try to develop a critical eye to the media you are watching/consuming in order to understand some of the messaging it's doing and the cultural leanings it has. Than you'll be fine. If you've waded into this blog, that's a start. It's all I do.
In other words:
BL is not produced in a bubble it's saying lots of other stuff beyond the romance and smooches.
So is all music, books, art.
Please just remember this stuff is for entertainment, not life guidance, and you'll be fine.
That said, since you're a teen, there are certainly many BLs that are very racy and high heat. And some that represent highly toxic relationships. These might be best avoided for now.
If you read BL fanfic or soft yaoi manga then I do have some rec lists that might work for you (stuck at the bottom) but they weren't written with teens in mind. So if you don't feel like your ready, don't watch it, and if you find yourself at all uncomfortable with the show (and I cannot emphasize this enough) STOP watching it.

Please always feel comfortable stopping a piece of media if you feel at all unsafe or uncomfortable or just don't like it.
There is always something else out there you'll like more.
Some quick "YA style" BLs off the top of my head:
My Love Mix Up (either Japan - VIki or Thailand - YT)
My School President (Thailand - YT)
Light On Me (Korea - Viki)
Seven Days (Japan - grey)
I Cannot Reach You (Japan - Netflix)
Wish You (Korea - Netflix)
Semantic Error (Korea - Viki)
Our Dating Sim (Korea - Viki)
Takara-kun and Amagi-kun (Japan - Viki)
Restart After Come Back Home (?)
Cherry Magic (Japan - Crunchroll)
Ingredients (Thailand - YT)
He’s Coming to Me (Thailand YT)
Gameboys (The Philippines - Netflix)
Old Fashion Cupcake (Japan - Viki)
About Youth (Taiwan - Viki)
I think it's no accident most of these are from Korea or Japan (mostly on Viki.)
Korea, in general, is going to be largely better for your age bracket, they specialize in soft BL with lower heat levels (with very few exceptions).
Japan can veer heavily in the opposite direction, so come ask me again if you find one not on this list and you're not sure, I can warn you.
Thai stuff is easier to find but it's all over the place and can get super super sexy.
Taiwan tends to go more adult content.
If you're confined mostly to YT because of your age, than you're mostly asking about Thai stuff. Drop me another Ask and I'll draw you up a specific list of YA Thai BL on YT but that might take me a bit of research.

What is something you've wanted to rant about but haven't gotten the opportunity to rant about? Alternatively, wanna rant about advertising in witchy spaces more?
~Jasper
Hi Jasper! (: I could. I could rant more about advertising. I have many things to say about it. Because, like,
It isn't enough to just follow the letter of the law with regards to advertising. You gotta make ethical decisions and think about the people you're advertising to.
If your advertisement strategy hinges on drawing in people who:
Aren't magical or divination practitioners themselves, and therefore may not understand how it works;
Are looking for quick results with little regard for quality;
Are young, mentally ill, or otherwise part of a vulnerable population;
Don't care about how a thing is getting done, just the assurance that it's getting done; or
Are otherwise desperate for change, results, answers, or some other form of relief from their situation...
Your advertising and your product or service is fucking garbage. Even a legitimate listing for legitimate services can be predatory! You must take your audience into consideration. It isn't enough to write something that you understand, it's gotta be clear to the person you're aiming at. Ask yourself:
Would someone with no expertise in my field understand the goal of the product or service based on this listing alone?
Who is this product or service meant to appeal to? Who is it for? What details are they expecting?
Does the style of the advertisement obscure the information therein?
Is the language attractive, effective, and evocative without being obtuse, vague, and obscure? Is it good to read while also not being bogged down by esoteric language?
It's a fine line, and it's why people make this shit their whole careers. It's why degrees in advertising and marketing exist. There's so much shit to consider!
I genuinely think that when people say they don't get commissions or they don't get sales, it's because their advertising sucks somehow. Their language isn't great, or their methods don't match their audience, or they're not doing enough of it, or they look like a scam because they're trying to sound mysterious and super cool.
Stop trying to sound mysterious!!!! I should be able to understand what you're selling me, how you're going to deliver it, and why I should choose your service over someone else's (i.e., what makes your service unique or worthwhile) based on your listing(s), your informational page(s), and your general online presence.
If you want sales without being a scummy grifter type, you have to make an effort!! Even if you think you're just posting a list of services you want to provide, that's still advertising, and you have to think about these things!
Anyways thank you Jasper for enabling this fixation! Lmao. I genuinely want to do something that's like "good ad, bad ad" or something to really drive this shit home. It goes beyond just spotting scams, too; it's about finding the Right Service for You. And it applies all over the place, not just in witchy spaces. It's a necessary set of skills to develop in an age of AI bullshit, misleading advertising, and endless competition.
Maybe I'll call it Aese's Advertising Adversaries. Or something. I like the alliteration. Maybe.
#aese answers#advertising in witchy spaces#[takes a deep breath]#i'm about to cause some fucking PROBLEMS around here

Your style of characters is so beautiful!! How did you learn/develop/practice to draw like that?
Ah!!! Thank you!! 💗💗💗✨✨
Here comes a long rant, get ready
Talking about your own art style is kinda tricky, I feel like to artists it comes as second nature, so one doesn't really see it as a so-called separate "style". Rather they see it as a continuation of themselves in a drawn form (at least i do). But if i had to, i'd say that one's art style consists of two things:
1) What comes naturally.
I look at 5 year old kids drawing and see that each one of then has their own unique style. Already. Without even trying.
I've been drawing my whole life and I never tried to shape my drawing style into a box that I could call "my style". I just let the lines flow naturally and followed where they led me.
I started going to live-drawing sessions again recently and my friend told me that she could see "my style" of drawing that she sees in my digital works in those quick sketches that I make during these sessions. I think that's because when I work on digital illustrations, I don't think about how I should draw this or that. I just do it.
So, practise! With time, the ways you personally draw things will flow to you. When you draw one thing a 100 times you start to notice simularities in all of the 100 different examples, and then you systematize what you've learned and put it to use drawing your 101 drawing. After a while you won't even think about it before drawing them in the usual for you way.
I like to draw freely, not picking up a pencil from paper, with my lines just flowing naturally everywhere that I want them to. And I try to keep that same feeling in my finished drawings (where there is lineart still visible).
Here, found an example of a quick live sketch without any boobies for ya (just to be safe) and a linework for one on my more recent digital works. See how I try to keep the lines alive in the same way. And add highlights where I deem them necessary just for something interesting to the eye.
2) Your inspiration.
Everything that you see and like impacts your style, whether you mean it or not. My friend (other friend) watched Wolfwalkers the other night and immediately texted me saying she could see the inspiration that I've drawn from that movie. And she was right. I am a fan of the artstyle of the whole studio, so it's only natural that i, maybe even unconsciously, took something that i liked from their works and incorporated it into my own art style.
When I asked my friend what exact simularities she saw, she couldn't pinpoint them, she said it's just the vibe that she's getting. And i was content with that answer. Means i didn't copy and paste, but rather interpreted what i liked in my own way.
Also. Very important. You have to love what you draw. You're gonna wanna spend some extra time and add those extra couple of strokes that don't add anything in meaning, but are there to just be pretty. Sometimes those couple of strokes make the biggest difference. I think it's is very important to take time to just sit with your work and listen to what it needs to make it truly finished. A drawing can go from empty and unfinished to fantastic in just a couple of lines.
So. There it is. Sorry for the long answer. Or maybe you're welcome? Anyway hope it satisfies you!💖💖
#maybe some time later i'll make a compilation of my nude sketches if you all are interested#there are some really lovely ones with some fat ladies#ask

Hi yes sorry to bother really quick question though uhm when you draw a human head do you draw put the the uh the circle thing that displays the top the head and then draw a chin oooor no?
If not what do you start with when you draw someone? And also how do you draw hair? I love the way you draw it and I am literally struggling sm w/ my art style(?? Idk Ik i don like it much tho) atp and wanna know what you do when you draw...and you seem like yk what ur doing so... yaaaaa thank youu! :3
Haii don't worry you're not bothering at all ^_^
To answer your question well i don't really draw the full circle usually i just draw circle heads but when I'm not doing that i like to try n get the chin shape as I'm drawing the head
Like this

After that i like to finish Woking on the head before moving on to the body
It can sometimes be a problem when you start drawing the body n you realise that maybe you need to resize or move the guy so you'll have to erase the head you already finished but if you're drawing digitally you don't have to worry about it 👍
I usually finish the face then draw the hair n neck but the order doesn't matter do whatever you want

There's a lot of different ways to draw the body n you can use whatever technique is easier for u but for me i like to start w the shoulders n do some chest n back lines
They don't have to be accurate just a general shape to indicate the body type/pose you're doing

Once i add the arms i start doing some fixes to the body
The arms make it more coherent all together so you start to see what issues can be fixed in the general shape of the body or maybe even the position of the shoulders or the pose
Once the guy looks right you can hide all your hard work w some clothes

Then yea i just add some last details like clothes folds n stuff n also go back to fix some lines that don't look right just erase as much as u want till the guy looks decent enough

As for the hair i just do general shapes i can never figure out how to do the detailed hair with all the individual strands rendered so this is the best i can do
I have some general strand shapes i like to use every style gotta have one of these

I like to start w the bangs then draw the rest of the hair sometimes if the drawing is too tiny i won't draw the bangs at all just do whatever till u get a shape you like 👍

Also for the artstyle thing if you're not happy w how your art looks i advice trying new styles
For me i have my little lap rat blorbo who i draw every time i wanna try a new style or technique
Look at other artists n pick out certain aspects you like about their style n try to replicate it if you're vibing w the style or technique then good for u king(gender neutral) draw that all the time 👍
Don't worry about changing ur style either even after u found a style you like it's always fun to experiment w new stuff n who knows you might even develop a new style that u like even more
Just have fun bestie do whatever brings u joy

Anyways i talked too much be gay do spinjitzu or whatever ✌️

What to do when you keep having bad art days?
Regarding a comment on this post
First of all, it's normal to have a few bad art days every few weeks, but I don't want to give you a "just deal with it" answer, so here are some things you can consider or do that might help. @stardestroyer81
First a few questions you can ask yourself:
Have you had a lot of stress lately? Art is a way to relax, but if you have a lot of stress, you might just not be in a mindset to calm down and relax, so your art turns out bad, because you are in a bad mindset while doing it. (I will propose solutions a bit later)
Do you take enough breaks while creating?
Are you getting back into art after a long break?
If so, do you expect yourself to be instantly as good as before the break, without warming up first?
Are you actively trying to learn something new?
Are you unsatisfied with your art style?
Are you using all the tools at your disposal?
Depending on your answers there are a few things you can do.
You can let off some steam, do some sports, play a video game, go outside for a walk, change the scenery and get new, less stressful input. Than get back to your art and do some warm up sketches. Set a timer for 1-2 Minutes for each drawing. They will turn out shitty, but they are just to loosen up your wrist. Start drawing after doing 10 really quick warm up sketches.
Breaks are super important. Make sure to stretch, drink enough water, eat enough and get enough sleep. I know it's standard advice, but it really makes a difference. You are not a robot. You can't concentrate without fuel and you can't concentrate for infinite amounts of time. I know, I will ruin my art, when I don't take a break every 90 Minutes, because that's when I start making mistakes.
After a long art break (what's long depends on the person, but for me going a week without making art makes me rusty) do some warm up sketches as well, preferably in the area you are most interested in. Learning how to do Portraits? Draw the head from different angles and try to get the features roughly right. Draw individual parts of the face seperately, to study them and than try to put them, where they belong on the skull. DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP! If it doesn't look right, try again, preferably with photo reference.
Lower your expectations. You are no old master. You are still learning. Don't compare yourself with other people, but compare yourself with yourself. That's why it's good to keep old artworks and look back on them every once in a while. I have come a long way since middle school and those old portrait studies I did back than are a great reminder of how much I've grown.
If you are actively trying to learn something new, don't beat yourself up if you don't get it right the 30th try. I needed to practice drawing the face for a whole year, before it didn't came out wonky anymore and I still screw up every now and then. Just search for some good drawing instruction videos and practice a bunch with pictures you find on the internet or take yourself. You will get good with a little bit of time and patience.
Do master studies. Your masters being the people you get inspired by AND whose art style you are trying to emulate. If you would like to draw like loish, try to break down how loish does art and copy that process. If you would like to paint like picasso, look at his art and try to break people down into forms. Learn a bit about the history of different art genres and see what you would like to include in your own art. If you are young and just starting out, you will not have a defined style yet. I certainly don't. But you can learn from everything and everyone and you will develop your own style and voice over time.
Use everything you can to help you learn and produce art.
There are no rules in art.
If you are working from photo reference, but can't get it right for the life of you? TRACE IT! You are allowed to trace something, if it helps achieving the end goal. If you are trying to learn how to do it without tracing, do it anyways, but in a specific way. What I usually do is:
Draw the thing I want to draw without tracing, trying to break it down into parts, trying to get the proportions right.
Put the image I try to recreate/use as reference under it with lower opacity, to see my sketch (you can do that with a window and a printed out image, if you are working traditionally)
Use another layer over my sketch and use a different colour to correct my sketch by tracing over the parts I got wrong.
Put the corrected sketch as reference to the side and try to draw the thing again, using the reference image and the corrected sketch as reference. (It's easier the second time, because you can see the parts you got wrong on the first try and can try to avoid making the same mistakes.)
Take your own reference pictures of things. Try to recreate a pose you want to draw. You will understand the pose better if you feel the movement of your own body and the position of your own muscles while striking the pose.
Use guidelines and reference pictures and probs and tools.
Again:
There are no rules in art.
And if nothing of what I've written is helping at all, maybe you just need to take a break. Some days off of doing art. That's okay as well. Refuel your creative energy by gaining different experiences. Go outside with some friends and have some fun. A change of scenery can make a lot of things better. (that said, look around your room. Is it a mess? Mine certainly is. And a cluttered space can also lead to a cluttered mind and influence your art badly.)
I hope any of this helps. This got longer than expected and I could keep going, so if you have any questions or need some recommendations for learning materials, feel free to reach out. I'm happy to help, when I can. :)

I’m trying to diversify, I know you think I’m gonna just ask for the OC questions for mark and Everett but NO
This time!
It’s Sloane and Arji. Give me all 20 (or at least the 19 since 20 is sorta just a misc catch all) for Sloane and Arji
1. What was the original thought that led to the creation of this character? Sloane: I already answered about her current iteration, but her ORIGINAL iteration came about because I needed an NPC who was formidable, professional, and charismatic. My players needed to be scared of her, they needed to be able to like her, and they needed to be able to trust her judgement. Everything else flowed from there! Arji: I made a dragonborn sorcerer in 2017, then I YES-ANDed him into a fully fledged guy
2. How long was the process before the character reached its final version? (or a version that would be clearly recognizable as the character?) Sloane: Pretty quick, compared to a lot of my other characters. I knew right away what role she needed to fill, and I had her written and figured out almost a full year before I introduced her in game. And then TAZ Ethersea happened in that interim and when I finally introduced her, the first thing my players asked me was if she was secretly Amber Gris Arji: Years, probably? I wasn't as deep into Developing Characters as I am now when I made him, he was just a long processs of feeling out the vibes and making small changes here and there.
3. What was the first thing you decided on, the character's name, appearance, personality or their role in the story? Sloane: Role in the story! She was an NPC who existed to hamper the players first, and a character to flesh out second. Arji: Probably appearance? I knew I wanted to play a green dragonborn, goofed around in heroforge a bit to figure out his look, then went from there. His personality didn't crystalize until several sessions into the campaign though. I really don't remember much from his earliest days, i'm so so sorry
4. And reverse, which one of the four things did you struggle with the most? Sloane: Oh, her name gave me lots of trouble. It took many many tries to find one that fit her. She started out as Jodi Armstrong and now she's Sloane Hill. Arji: I don't actually think I struggled much with creating him. It was pretty stream of consciousness. He poured from my brain like a flowing river or something to that extent
5. How did you choose their name and why? Was it simply based on vibes or is there any specific meaning behind the name? Are the reasons behind their name different in- and out of universe? Sloane: I answered this one already, but mostly vibes and trying out names from name lists until something felt right. Arji: RGB color profile
6. What was the thought process behind their appearance? Did you go mostly for the aesthetic or are there other reasons they look the way they do? Sloane: big woman built like a pro wrestler with fucked up monster arm is hot Arji: mostly feeling out the Normal DnD Aesthetic at first, then branching out into actually thinking about his shape language and silhouette and body type etc etc etc
7. What is an aspect of their appearance that you like the most? Sloane: i just really really really like her broad shoulders! feels like the most quintessential sloane feature of hers to me Arji: His big bright beautiful eyes! They're usually the first thing of him that I draw.
8. What is the origin of their personality? And let's be honest - how much of it is projecting? Sloane: all of it is projecting. she's my dream woman built in a lab rocky horror style Arji: Steven Universe and Mabel Pines. Mostly.
9. How big is their role in the story? Do they make a frequent appearance or are they a character with little "screentime" but big influence? Or are they just a favourite background guy? Sloane: uuuuuuh well she's been a side NPC for most of her existence until now that I have her as a player character, but i wanna play her SO BAD, B TEAM I MISS YOU Arji: Through a weird technicality, has the most screentime of any character in his whole campaign, including other player characters. shrug
10. What is their main character arc in the story? Where do they start and how do they develop? Do they get a happy ending or is their story a tragic one? Sloane: i dunno yet! she deserves a happy ending, but she has a bit of a martyr complex, soooooo, Arji: still also technically in his character arc, but he's done a lot of maturing since the start of his adventure. he's still a naive sweetie pie, but with trauma now
11. Is there any existing character from other media that your character resembles? Was the resemblance intentional or was it a coincidence? Sloane: Shaking hands with Hellboy over being shaped like a brick and having one arm that causes Monster Problems and having propensities for smoking and cursing Arji: If you put Aang ATLA and Steven Stevenuniverse and Mabel Gravityfalls in a blender with a lizard you would get a terrible travesty. or maybe you'd get arji. Let's find out--
12. Do you have a playlist for the character? What songs do you associate with them and why? Sloane: She doesn't, but I've been trying to come up with some. Surely there's some Led Zeppelin out there that's right for her Arji: He does! Some heavy hitters from that list are: Rainbow Connection from the Muppet Movie, Let's Dance to Joy Division by The Wombats, and Cool Patrol by Ninja Sex Party,
13. Do you have a voice claim for the character? What do you imagine the character sounds like? Sloane: Wendie Malick, hands down. (she voiced Eda in the Owl House) Arji: No particular person, but thinking about it at this very moment in my mind he would be a perfect role for whoever's voicing Tails in the sonic franchise right now
14. Do you have any quotes tied to the character, either from the story itself or from another source that fit them? Sloane: "Aw, hell." Arji: "Hi, who are you? Statistically speaking, we're friends now!"
15. Have you ever made a moodboard for them? Sloane: A small one, like four images. I don't know if I can be fucked to dig it out lmao Arji: ditto ^
16. Is there any memes or running jokes associated with the character, both in- and out of universe? Sloane: Carrying tchotch around in a baby sling. Pink sparkly magical girl gun Arji: Sweet lad, do NOT enter the horny zone, do NOT look
17. Are there any motifs or symbols associated with the character? How are they represented, in their design, personality or in some other way? Sloane: gun??? of both the weapon and the arm variety??? i guess????? Arji: Dragon scales, sparks and embers.
18. Does the character have other characters connected to them? Do you have a family tree and "offscreen" connections made up for them or do they exist in a vacuum purely for the purpose of the story? Sloane: she's coworkers with my friends' wonderful OCs and i love that for her and i apologize to them. also she's friends with benefits with Diane Fishwoman Arji: aside from his dnd party, not really! He's kind of an island, lore-wise
19. What is your general favourite thing about the character? What is your least favourite? Sloane: 💗she's just really really cool. ❌i need to DEVELOP HER MORE Arji: 💗everyone loves arji!❌I'd really like an opportunity to rebuild him from the ground up. he has a tangled mess of history and lore and whatever that I can't keep track of anymore

iOS 18.2 Public Beta 1 Brings Genmoji and More AI to Some iPhones
Since this is a beta, I recommend only downloading it on a device other than your primary device. Since this isn’t the final version of iOS 18.2, the update may have bugs and short battery life, so it’s best to keep these issues on a secondary device.
Note that the beta isn’t the final version of iOS 18.2, so there may be more features that will come to your iPhone when iOS 18.2 is released. There’s no word yet on when Apple will release iOS 18.2.
Here are some of the features that could be coming to your iPhone running iOS 18.2 soon. Just a reminder, only developers and beta testers with the iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, or iPhone 16 lineup have access to AI features at this time. If you have another iPhone, you won’t be able to access these features.
Genmoji There are over 3,000 emoji you can use, but sometimes you can’t find the one you really want. Genmoji is here to help. With Apple Intelligence Genmoji, you can describe the emoji you’re looking for, and your Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone will try to create new emoji based on your description.
To use Genmoji, open a message and tap the emoji keyboard in the lower-left corner of the keyboard. Then type the emoji you’re looking for in the search bar. If there’s no emoji that matches your description, tap Create New Emoji just below the search bar. Your iPhone will then show you some examples of what it came up with based on your description. You can scroll through the emoji, and when you find the Genmoji you want, tap Add in the upper-right corner to add that new emoji to your keyboard permanently.
Visual Intelligence This is Apple’s answer to Google Lens. Visual Intelligence is an Apple Intelligence feature that lets you point your camera at something, like a dog, and your iPhone will then use the image to search the internet to help you identify it. The feature can also be used to detect phone numbers to create contacts, scan QR codes, and translate languages.
You can also integrate this feature with ChatGPT to help you identify elements and better understand what’s on a page or screen. It’s important to note that you don’t need a ChatGPT account to use the integration.
This feature is also only available on the iPhone 16 lineup, where it uses the new side button to control the camera on the lineup. If you have one of the new iPhones, long-press the new side button where the SIM tray used to be to quickly open Visual Intelligence.
“Camera Control provides instant and easy access to your camera with just a tap. It lets you adjust various camera features with a simple swipe of your finger,” Apple said at its “Glowtime” event in September. “Its handy design ensures it’s always within reach.”
Image Playground This Apple Intelligence feature takes Genmoji a step further and lets you create entire images based on text queries called Image Playground. This feature is a standalone app and you can also find it in Messages by tapping the plus (+) button to the left of the text box.
The Image Playground app is filled with quick suggestions, topics, locations, and more to get you started. You can enter more queries to make the image more specific, but after I entered seven queries, a pop-up window appeared asking me to use fewer. There’s also an option to change the art style from the default 3D cartoon images to illustrations.
If you want to put yourself, your friends, family, or your pet in one of these images, you can. Tap the plus sign (+) in the lower right corner, then tap Select Image or Take Photo. You’ll still need to select or enter a query using the image.
This feature can create some pretty simple images, and it can be unintentionally funny given how weird the other images are. In one case, I selected the astronaut, artist, and lighthouse queries. One result showed what I can only describe as a look-alike astronaut leaning on an easel with blank pages behind him, opposite another easel with a drawing of a lighthouse. Stellar work..
Siri and ChatGPT flash Apple announced at WWDC in May that its virtual assistant Siri was about to enter a “new era” thanks to improvements to Apple Intelligence. And with the iOS 18.2 beta, Apple is bringing most of these improvements to some iPhones.
With Apple Intelligence, instead of a logo appearing on the screen when you activate Siri, you’ll see a glowing light around the screen. You can use Siri as usual, and you can also use ChatGPT for your queries.
I asked Siri to use ChatGPT to show me how to make a cup of coffee, and I wrote out a seven-step process for making coffee in a standard coffee maker. The instructions were a bit unclear, asking me to measure out the amount of water and ground coffee before grinding the beans. But there’s a disclaimer on

More concept art for mice in my Au.
I loveddd drawing these beans for this post. None of them are really oc’s. I just drew random designs, but I had a lot of fun with it. Finding quirks different species can have, like the large eyes and black pupils for lantern mice, I want to continue to find little things I can tweak with my art style to add more differences between species. I also want to talk about this post a little bit more and the ideas I had along with it.
So quick travel back in time, in my AU, it takes place hundreds of thousands of years after the Saints' timeline. The world has started to recover from the years of eternal winter it was stuck in. Ignoring most of the other stuff that happens (A bunch of lore stuff that I will make a post about in the future) Following the lantern mice while the world is starting to get super cold, a majority that could, found stolace from the cold by traveling deeper into the ground along with the rubble. They grew thicker fur and, as a very large amount of time started to pass, started to evolve more. Colleneys, woking together, social, scent, etc... They began to develop minds for using tools, often using the scrap metal and machinery around them.
So even more time passes by, a huge ice age, long time, and the world is finally starting to warm up. And as it does, it starts warming up enough that the snow and ice that covered the world starts to melt. Enough eventually to starts to flood the tunnels and even deep underground, forcing the mice up and other creatures up. Even more years pass (several generations still, even more time) and we finally stop this magic school bus trip at the time where all my characters and general Au takes place, while lantern mice are still more adapted to the surface than the first ones that came out from the tunnels below. The lantern mice still struggle.
Other mice were used to colonies of mostly themselves. But not the sight of predators. Their brains still have that hardcore prey anxiety from when their ancestors were used as delicious bite-sized snacks. Others are much better at managing it, some only get it when seeing certain features. Like an open mouth or sharp teeth, others want to run for the hills the second they see a lizard. It really depends on the mouse. Another thing I also like is that some small colonies of mice exist that survived on the surface. And so there is a bit of difference in adaptations from the normal glow mice that I'm definitely gonna have to draw sometime in the future.
If anyone has any questions, ill try my best to answer them.

blondie&glasses with ❤️🍀🧠✏️ / mary with ❤️🧊🌂🎹
OMG YAYYYYY!!! Mary is answered separate from Those Two cause they don't even know each other... she'd be like "why can't they just hold hands or something?"
❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?
I think I wrote a more descriptive version of it somewhere before cause it's #important but it's pretty much the night she kills her ex-fiancé and absorbs The Creature. Which is extremely vague I just realized... quick rundown: everyone but her wants her to get married -> camping trip with the guy -> go in the dark (forest.) -> "I can make you into an angel (flesh thing) fr" -> sure -> kills him badly. AND THE CROWD (me) GOES WILD
🧊 - Is their current design the first one?
NOOOO but it IS very similar... her 1st design was for something entirely different that involved her being super plain (also the reason her name's Mary)(DVD normal name). Then I just kinda made her messier and creepier.... KYA...... Though I haven't drawn her super creepy just yet u.u
🌂 - What genre do they belong in?
Horror and romance but the second one has a huge NEVER TRY THIS AT HOME asterisk. She shares her story with Agnes and they have cute moments Because I'm Crazy but ultimately it's just not a good healthy relationship at all due to women's wrongs, which I support, slash joking
🎹 - Do they have any hobbies?
Writinggg x) !! She gets into it after "meeting" Agnes (one-sided meeting. He did NOT fucking know her for a while) since he also writes "as a hobby" (me when I lie) and posts it online. She starts out by completing his unfinished stories or making alternate scenes, and eventually writes short stories of her own.
She also paints but that's also her major at uni so not really a hobby anymore... her paintings Have changed drastically post-creature absorption though x)
I put my other answers under da cut I never stfu #SORRY m(_ _)m
❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?
Blondie: He is one of the most miserable little men to ever live but he does think fondly of his freshman year in highschool due to that being the year he was sure he had an actual friend for the first time ever. He has fond memories of hanging out at the park or the mall with her, talking about nothing in particular. Though he avoids thinking about her because it just hurts him in the end </3
Glasses: He has a very... hedonistic lifestyle to say the least, so it'd be hard for him to single out a moment in particular. His most euphoric moment though, is when he buried a body for the first time and went to school the next morning like nothing happened. Feeling invincible lasted for a bit, but he wouldn't do it again for quite some time.
🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?
Blondie: Weirdly enough I came up with him after Glasses. Basically I went "who the hell is holding the camera here???"
Glasses: Pipeline moment AUGH here we go. I listened to Ouija by Harley Poe on loop a bunch some time ago and really liked the concept of someone willingly inviting a spirit into their body in order to commit violent acts guilt-free (like first seat autopilot style ykwim). This gave way to an ENTIRELY different story and characters, in which I asked myself "who's even gonna possess this guy!?", and was trying to come up with some distant character that did very bad no good things. Around the same time I was doodling ideas like crazy and liked some stuff for a drawing of what was Basically a snuff scene. That's when I made someone up to hold the camera and when I thought to connect both stories, otherwise neither Glasses nor Blondie would be characters at all. Funnily enough the original Ouija-inspired story is not very developed at all, and I decided to cut it off ESH Diversity Loss (what Glasses and Blondie's folder is called in my drive) completely LOL<///3
🧠 - What do you like most about the OC?
This is kind of a difficult question to answer cause honestly I don't even like my OCs as people I think some of them just suck really badly. But I do like them as characters and things to write/think about x)
Blondie: I like that he could very easily be Fixed if he just like, had friends that actually liked him. He really didn't get socialized as a puppy now he's dependent on some fucking guy that views him as a limited edition snack and won't let go of him until he HAS to. Oh poor thang</3
Glasses: His hubris. ❤️
✏️ - How often do you draw/write about the OC?
Honestly my OC bouts come and go but I've got a lot more on them than I ever thought I would. Somehow they're the only story I have a rough outline for ??? ending planned out and everything. I don't draw them much though.... which means their designs will Very Likely change a lot by the time I get to do their thingy.
