gonna say it now, if you support CC creators like @felixandresims, @harrie-cc, or any other perma-wall/excessive early access paywall creators you’re being taken advantage of financially. They don’t care about your game, about your hard earned money that you work a REAL job for. They don’t work for EA there is no reason they should be getting paid ~14k a month MINIMUM for sometimes RECOLORS of existing sims 4 content. And YES, Harrie’s recent “winterfest drop” is just a sims 4 seasons RECOLOR. You’re not “getting it for free” If you are a patron you are PAYING for the content at the end of the day they aren’t giving it out, if they were to get banned on patron or were told they could no longer hide behind early access paywalling they would not make content (or make their content free at all exhibit @felixandresims) They are money hungry, they are not part of your community they don’t care about you. Them and their TOU’s are an embarrassment to the sims community and i’m so glad i’m not in the s4 community. But just because i’m not doesn’t mean i’m going to let them get away with their entitlement. I hope EA comes after their asses. Thank you to the S4 Creators who don’t perma paywall and who are respectful and care about the community. I understand that making CC is time consuming but at the end of the day this community was made on the backs of people who created CC for fun not expecting pay and it’s upsetting to see how far down this community has gone, and it’s in part thanks to EA (money hungry pigs)

It's infuriating how entitled people are, it's not gatekeeping, it's just not spoon feeding CC that this "lazy" person apparently can't find themselves even though they have THE SAME internet and tools available to them.

PXL is one of the most generous people here with her builds, CC and information, and you think this type of entitlement will make her wanna share more? In fact I wouldn't blame her if she decided not share ANYTHING anymore.

It's one thing to be curious and want to know something, it's another to feel entitled to it. The point of sharing pictures and builds is NOT to serve as an advertising to CC, but to express yourself through creations, find community, share ideas with like-minded people!

There are entire blogs devoted ONLY to sharing CC finds, there's Google, YouTube, Reddit, Tumblr, TS4 Rebels and DHM, and thousands of WCIF friendly blogs. You can find it if you are not lazy and have basic manners. Stop badgering people as if they OWED you something.

What is the point of making and showing off your builds if you're just going to ignore the people who ask where the cc is from? Isn't the pint of creating cc sharing it with everyone. I feel like gatekeeping other people's work is selfish and rude. That, or you're just lazy...

My Thoughts on Inzoi

I figured since my post about the whole Inzoi terms of service debacle blew up in a way that I never would have predicted, I should probably give a more nuanced explanation of my stance on the game and the discourse around it in general.

First off, I will just say right off the bat that I am not a fan of Inzoi, and unless some very big changes are made to the game, I am not interested in playing it.

I also want to make clear that my dislike of Inzoi is NOT motivated by any sort of love or loyalty to EA or The Sims. If there's one good thing to come out of Inzoi its breaking the monopoly that EA has over the life sim genera and giving The Sims competition. I also want to say that I despise EA for what it has done to the Sims franchise, and while I have played an absurd amount of hours in The Sims 4, I think it is objectively a bad product.

My biggest problem with Inzoi, first and foremost, is it's the use of AI. Inzoi allows players to use generative AI to make custom textures, designs, and paintings within the game. You may not agree with me on this but I am fully of the opinion that real artists should have been hired and paid to create all of the textures/paintings/designs for this game. Allowing players to upload their own photos and videos is one thing, but Krafton, a multi billion dollar company, chose to not support real, professional artists so they could save what is essentially pennies to them. All this results in, frankly, ugly and uncanny looking generated designs plastered all over the furniture and decor. For this reason alone I do not support Inzoi, but there's so much more to it than that.

There's also the fact that we have no idea how their AI is trained. Krafton apparently has an "AI Ethics Committee," but we have no clue what their actual code of ethics are. While it's bad faith to assume, they could be using stolen artwork for their AI. It is also very likely that whatever images you upload into the game, as well as any use of their facial scanning feature, could also be used as material to train their AI. This could lead to all sorts of ethical and legal issues I don't even know where to begin.

Secondly, I have to say, looking at the early access footage from youtubers and everything else I've heard about the game, it feels like its only going to repeat most of TS4's mistakes. In youtuber NotMalcolm's most recent video he discusses Inzoi's overly sanitized approach to various aspects of life, most notably that you can't try for a baby unless you are already married (source). Just like TS4, Inzoi is appealing to a younger demographic and sanding down the rougher aspects of life in order to cater to them. I fear that Krafton is likely taking it a step further and not only watering down the game for the sake of potential child players, but also using them as an excuse to enforcing extremely traditional values on its players. I have no interest in playing a life sim that only allows me to play out a single, socially acceptable way of living.

It also, like TS4, feels like a Young Adult Wish Fulfillment Sim™. The gameplay looks shallow, and it feels like it exists more to make aesthetic screenshots than it does to be an actual game.

I think when people say that Inzoi is missing the "quirky weirdness" of the Sims, what they actually mean is that Inzoi is devoid of personality. One thing that stuck out to me immediately is that the animations are so stiff, robotic, and lifeless. Again, everything is made to be ~*Aesthetic*~ with no regard to an actual sense of identity or personality.

I know people will say that its only in early access, but given how close public early access is to release, I highly doubt any significant changes are going to be made to improve what will be given to us when the time comes.

On a similar note, there's the fact that Krafton has never made a game before now that hasn't been riddled with micro transactions. I personally predict that Inzoi's monetization strategy will be just as, if not more predatory than TS4's is. The fact that we are drawing so close to public early access and have not heard a single word on their method of monetization speaks volumes. I simply do not trust it.

Now, of course, I need to elaborate on the whole Terms of Service Situation. I understand fully that Krafton's terms of service is industry standard and not too dissimilar to EAs, however, this post highlights that whats really concerning about Krafton's ToS is how difficult and confusing it is for players to access and review it. I find it understandable that Krafton's proud use of AI makes people a lot more nervous as to what their data could potentially be used for, and are going to be a lot more weary of Inzoi's ToS. Though I understand that it is only speculation, many have made the assumption that Krafton may use user's personal data to train AI.

I did not expect my post on the subject to make so much traction, and I now regret how impulsively I made the post. I feel I've contributed to fear mongering, even though I feel my concerns at the time were valid and I felt like people had the right to know. I could have done more research and given more of an explanation for what my concerns were instead of basically saying "Yikes..." and leaving it at that.

I was also told through an anonymous ask that the auto accepting of the ToS on closing the game was a bug that had apparently been fixed the first day the character creation trial was available. I of course cannot verify this myself, but I will take them on good faith.

I would also like to touch on two other talking points that have been very prevalent in the Inzoi discourse:

Diversity - I think this links back to my previous point about the game's goal of being as ~*aesthetic*~ (and marketable) as possible at the detriment of everything else. The game is clearly catering to a very specific, very pale and thin standard of Korean beauty, and I think that everything that doesn't conform to that standard was sidelined as a result. I will be fair and say that the Inzoi team still has ample opportunity to fix this and add more options over time. TS4 was also severely lacking on release, but over the years has made great strides in regards to representation. However I would have hoped that Inzoi, a game planning to release in early access in 2024, would do a lot better than a game that was initially released in 2014.

Partnership with Curseforge - I've seen many people accuse critics of Inzoi's partnership with Curseforge of being hypocritical, since TS4 also has a partnership with them. Of course, one would have to ignore the massive, community wide boycott of Curseforge, and the pressure the community has put on CC creators to stop using the platform for that claim to hold any water. I also think there is a notable difference in EA choosing to partner with Curseforge before the Israel/Palestine conflict began, and Krafton actively choosing to partner with Curseforge now, during an active genocide taking place, in which Curseforge's parent company, Overwolf, actively advocates for and donates to those committing said genocide.

In conclusion, there are a lot of valid reasons to not like/be suspicious of Inzoi. Of course I can't tell you what to do or what games you play, nor can I force you to agree with me, but don't be so quick to write off or demonize those who are simply trying to raise awareness or drawing boundaries regarding Inzoi and those who choose to make content with it.

I also encourage you to consider the points I've made and maybe think twice before investing yourself in yet another game that will very likely exploit your attachment to it in the very same way that EA and the Sims has. You need to make them deserve your time and money, which is why I'm encouraging you to advocate for a better and more ethical game.

You deserve better. We all do.

And it turns out two of the creators who were considered "good" by the community and suddenly made persona non grata have notices on their social media pages not to talk about them in Sims4 discord servers because apparently, their mods are considered "malware."

When the real reason why those creators are cancelled was because one of them was a transmed (he was a transgender man in Italy, a country that has almost no protections for trans people and thus making transition a cosmetic rather than medical procedure could literally put him in danger) and the other one defended him when he was being cancelled for it.

This guy didn't create malicious or hateful code or was deliberately harassing people. He was posting his personal thoughts, on his PERSONAL blog, and somehow the greater Sims Modding community got wind of it and decided he should be "cancelled" for it.

Let's also not get into the fact that mods about rape aren't allowed, but mods with murder and gore, and even mods that allow you to eat babies, are considered perfectly fine.

The guy who made DeviousDesires plagiarized code from WickedWhims without crediting the creator, which is a dick move. However, the Sims community considered this not a real reason to cancel him and lied that his mod included child characters (even though the code explicitly does not).

And even then, if we are allowed to have mods that eat babies, why is this somehow any different? I'm sure there are many CSA survivors who play Sims, and many who want to tell stories about CSA. Many rape victims want to tell stories using Sims, are they not allowed to do so?

(Note: on videos covering this scandal, I've seen commenters say that any CSA survivor who wants to use Sims to tell stories are "worse than actual pedophiles" and worse still, saying that there is no reason for authors to write stories about CSA period, which I find more horrifying than a mod that allows pixelated characters to do fucked up things.)

This goes to show that It shows you that their priorities don't lie with being a legitimate creator, but with being "socially acceptable" and/or "progressive." And they're willing to throw marginalized creators to the wolves if they don't toe the line.

Yet another reason to be skeptical of any group that appears too overtly accepting or inclusive, because most of the time, they are exactly the opposite.

I was using twitter exclusively for Sims 4 CC and comparing the likes of say, Icemunmun’s (I’m using her as an example in particular because we are from the same country) twitter feed with that of other famous simmers shows the difference between non-western and western, particularly anglophone, online mindsets.

Most of the anglophone Sims4 CC creators have an annoying tendency to mesh politics with their work, some even more egregiously have twitter feeds with 90% politics and less than 10% of CC. They also seem to LOVE getting involved in drama with other simmers for one reason or the other. Some of them go the extra mile and outright hate their own patrons/fanbase, as though they’re the greatest and should be worshiped.

One in particular straight up lies about the kind of people she excludes from her circle of creators to know about (as in, there’s another criteria we aren’t informed about - creators who disagree with her politically are considered persona non grata even though we are not told this).

I wouldn’t even say this is a western thing because French and other non anglophone simmers tend to mostly focus on their content and are friendly/polite in their interactions. Latin American simmers also don’t talk beyond their content and behave nicely with their patrons.

And to use Icemunmun’s example, other than a tweet about “scientific misinformation” making her mad during the pandemic (which was so vague that anybody could interpret it any way), she hasn’t made a single political statement. Her tweets are relatively wholesome, mostly talking about her daughter and about holiday celebrations, when not talking about her content.

What is it about western anglophone online culture that makes it so vitriolic? Because I see the same phenomenon with fan artists as well and it’s something to think about.

𖦹 Buff's story begins in the campaign on a rainy night in a town called Redwick. Inside resides the Splitcoin Tavern, a rogue Ravenfolk snags coin off of a drunken patron, while being watched over a cleric Aasimar. Meanwhile a Goliath fighter finds himself in a discourse with a rowdy drunk, who swears he could take him on. Push comes to shove as the man tests his luck, insistent on a fight. The Goliath easily overtakes the drunk only to realize he's a guard and his friends have just entered the scene. Outbursts between the patrons, the barkeep and the guards erupt as fingers are pointed and tension arises.

However, it all comes to a halt when the door opens to a large cloaked figure. Unveiling his hood, reveals Buff, covered in the slick of rainwater. He makes his way to the bar, taking a seat uncomfortably before being approached by one of the guards. He announces that Buff is wanted for the murder of four as well as linking the other three patrons with the murders. Before he can proceed, a loud hoot and a skeleton jumps from the ceiling beam onto one of the guards. Distracted, Buff is able to shove one of the accuser to the ground before readying his axe.

𖦹 His weapon of choice is a great axe and on the rare occasion, throwing axes for ranged. Although his relationship with killing is a bit complicated. Being born into a tribe known for brutality, he's never really connected to that conflict so when he was released by his father to find honor, his newfound freedom came with a downfall. That his only use and skill in society was his ability to kill. There's always a hesitation when it comes to his contracts but at the same time, it's either that or he doesn't eat. And not many are willing to hire this orc as an apprentice for other work.

𖦹 He and Bone have a unique relationship. Although it started as the both of them saving each other in their own ways, it blossomed into companionship after essentially having nothing. Bone is much smaller (more than ts4 allows) and usually hitches a ride on Buff shoulders. Bone does much of the talking while Buff is more like the soft-spoken giant. They both feel like polar opposites in the sense that one has what the other is lacking but their friendship isn't transactional but rather symbiotic!

𖦹 Buff's subclass is the Path of the World Tree. I felt like it resonated with him best since his character really feels like endurance through each scenario he's placed in. That specific class, the more I learn about it, allows him to be durable in instances which feels in character. He deviates from a traditional barbarian and part of that decision was wanting to present a challenge to both me and Buff. I typically lean towards spellcasters or rogues so this felt like a solid introduction towards tank-y characters!

𖦹 After the encounter at the bar, he and his group are contracted under the barkeeper of Splitcoin Tavern, Edrick Morvin. This was a way for them to pay for the damages and the coin was good. After our short intermission, the DM filled us in with lore of the world. That 700 years ago a titanic city known as Veil Te Run had met it's demise. In the final hours, the stars stopped and the heaven stood still. Beyond veil of knight, a creature emerged. The powerful city wasn't demolished, it was unmade. Two years passed after the brawl at the tavern and the next encounter we jumped into was a dungeon where we searched for a scroll. The first trial was a fight with a bone naga and that was tricky since we sorta free-for-all'd it. But in that, Buff went down to 1 HP and everyone took a lot of damage. Buff did deliver the killing blow which was cool! We then found a bag of holding that granted you what you needed but you had to do a skill check, if you didn't pass it, each time something terrible would happen. Like we had a grenade go off, battled a rabid chicken and finally Bone got some sort of disease on his hand (which opened a quest for later PFFT). The second trial was a time-based puzzle where statues needed to be pushed as the room grew colder. Although that trial was approached with a plan and went smoother, Buff did succumb to the cold. Bone did try to revive him, performing terrible CPR and killing Buff in the process. Buff slipped to the otherside before realizing Bone owed him 17g and was quickly revived by the Aasimar. The session ended with us returning to Redwick as the world started to shift uncomfortably... O_O

My main takeaway throughout all the inZOI discourse I've seen the last few days:

I wish folks would just let the game thrive (or fail) on it's own. I do understand ppl will naturally compare it to TS4 but lets not do that please lol. If you're truly looking for a TS4 gameplay alternative.. TS3 is right there; as a complete series and without the merry-go-round of game patches or broken mods to fuss over. Personally, Character Creation for me is just not enough to start dropping my jaw.. I needed to see something other than the Zoi's themselves because even with all that customization they all still gave same face syndrome. If I wanted to see my OC's look pretty and realistic I could just log in Secondlife, or.. again.. TS3. I took a peak into Oshin's gameplay demo and it was.. promising. There were some obvious red flags like not being able to multitask and those horrible cutaway scenes but for a stand alone base game with no added DLC's I cut it some slack. Maybe they will listen to their community's needs and improve on some things.. maybe they won't IDK. A huge turn off I noticed as I was watching: It seems like they might have used AI or something to replicate the Simlish language down to a T. It completely kicked me out of the immersion I was feeling when I should have been becoming more ingratiated into this world. It was also weird to me that they even have a custom language when all the products around them were written in English.. it just didn't make sense and seemed rushed on their part. The Uncanny Valley thing looked less predominant once you got into the world where Zoi's are surrounded by their intended environment and not just stuck behind a blank screen. My original first impression of it gave me GTA vibes and I still stand by that but it also strongly resembles DAZ Studio; which is the epiphany I had as to why I don't like the way the Zoi's look. I have no issue with realism and lifelike features.. I mean look at all my custom skins. It's that specific DAZ aesthetic i'm just not into.

Not Marvel related but is Bella Goth from the Sims Romani?

This... really took me by surprise. The Sims franchise is not without problems when it comes to race and culture, and I have looked into past instances of Romani tropes and stereotypes, but I've never noticed anything like that around Bella or the rest of the Goth family-- and that's because, as far as I can tell, there isn't anything. I did some searching, and I found a few posts on social media which claimed that Bella is implied to be of either "southern European or Romani heritage," whatever that means. I traced this claim back to an entry in the Sims Wiki for the Bachelor family, which, if you don't know, is Bella's maiden name--

While Mortimer's family appears to be of German and English descent, the Bachelors are suggested to have Southern European and/or Romani heritage as hinted by their names, swarthy features, and Bella's bio in The Sims Bustin' Out, as well as her connotation to the supernatural. 

I shouldn't have to explain that the use of "swarthy" feels very charged. Her bio in Bustin' Out notes that her name is Italian, but otherwise makes no indication of her heritage, except to say that she's descended from a long line of occultists and mystics. I assume that this is due to the Goths being loosely inspired by the Addams family-- ironically, Bella's ancestors, the Bachelors, are all pretty mundane. Regardless, assuming she's Romani because purely because her ancestors are described as "mystics" is obviously a racist stereotype. It doesn't look like there's any textual evidence to support that assumption. I think someone just jumped to a conclusion, presented that conclusion as fact, and now it periodically circulates fandom discourse whenever Bella's race is brought up. The fact that Bella’s race is a point of contention is a whole other can of worms— I understand that she was one of several characters who were white- or light washed in the original release of TS4, which people rightfully called out and the developers thankfully corrected, but because her background is so ambiguous, the conversation got a little awkward and raised some questions that were never answered. I think that’s why some fans are so concerned with ascribing her an identity.

🍣 :: Trisabled is a term where an individual is both cis-disabled and trans-disabled! In my case, this means that I am already disabled and chronically ill but wish to acquire more illnesses.

🎀 :: What is reality shifting?

🍣 :: Reality shifting is a spiritual belief in which you can choose any reality within the multiverse to be in at any given time by gaining awareness of your existence in alternate realities and "shifting" there. If you wanna learn more, go check out Reya Singh on YouTube!!

🍣 :: Because I suffer from something called atypical dysphoria! It's similar to gender dysphoria, but regards other things such as age, race, species, and, in my case, health and abilities! This dysphoria can make people feel very stressed, isolated, and lead to suicidal thoughts or extreme attempts to achieve their desired body.

🍣 :: No, and I will not. I have schizotypal personality disorder and complex PTSD (both cis), and I struggle with intense paranoia because of this. Telling a total stranger my most vulnerable parts when they are capable of getting me locked up, abusing me, or putting things on my record that could get me denied life-saving medical care in the future is absolutely out of the question. No shame if you choose to do so, I simply will not be taking part in it.

yes this is about EA, TS4, and the supposed "fans" of this game. let me talk shit for a minute. I will not accept discourse on this topic, you're free to have your opinion but have it away from me if you disagree, this post is for bitter bitches and bitter bitches only.

every time TS4 releases a new pack, every single time, without fail, there will always be hordes and masses crawling out of the goddamn sewers to scream about how "this should've been part of this pack/this should've been an update/this shouldn't be so expensive". every. single. fucking. time.

let me be the one to remind you that EA is a business. TS4 is a product of said business.

said business (EA) offers the product (TS4) at a cost to consumers (you), in order to pay the people who made the product (Maxis), and to put further funding into the ongoing maintenance and supply of that fucking product (updates/DLCs).

but these hordes don't care about any of that. no. understanding that means they can't complain, loudly, constantly, endlessly, about a game they purport to "love so much".

and I for one am fucking SICK of seeing every. single. goddamn. comment section on the internet on any TS4 related post, being absolutely fucking flooded with "EA shill" and "this costs too much".

I am SICK of going into the comments on trailers or reaction/promo videos for new packs and having to scroll through hundreds if not thousands of whiny little bitches (gender neutral) complaining that the pack is too expensive, or that it should've been an update.
