It is very amusing how Solar came back on the death anniversary of Eclipse and Solar Flare.

A year ago a death, and now a rebirth. :)

Is Cured Ruin/Starburst (what I've been calling him) going to play a part in any of your AUs?

Unclear! With Ruin in general as fun as they are my main AUs already struggle to fit in characters like Earth and Solar Flare because most/everyone lives and they're set earlier in the timeline. The ideas I have had for Ruin either revolve more around New Bloodmoon with Ruin as an afterthought, or I feel they're too similar to existing character arcs in regards to how Ruin interacts with the rest of the cast.

I kinda forgot they had their own Lunar design until I had gotten past those frames, so we're gonna pretend the inconsistency didn't happen, along with ignoring the house just disappearing-

I actually made this after seeing this post! Unfortunately, I didn't draw Eclipse punting Lunar but oh well

Ruin got nerfed and that's okay - SAMS Ruin retrospective

The man, the legend, the greatest villain of TSAMS, just by body count.

Ruin spent years plotting against his Creator, to escape his dying home dimension after losing everyone he knew and love to a mind controlling virus.

Playing acts upon acts, putting on roles and setting up backup plans behind schemes. He had a plot for everything, bidding his time, until he could finally get his revenge through the greatest genocide ever committed in the multiverse.

Even when everyone knew he was up to something, they couldn't prove it enough, until it was too late. He was too prepared.

And he would do it all again in a heartbeat, regretting nothing about the loss of lives, because he saw the cost worth it for the outcome.

He did all this with full expectations of being executed for his crime, by whoever got to him first.

Only to be circumvented but another schemer on his own level - Dark Sun.

Once again Ruin loses his freedom to play servant and punching bag for someone who hates his very existence.

Once again he plots his way out of it and leaves behind assurance that his tormentor meets his end - Nexus.

No one trusts Ruin, they all know he's nothing but masks upon masks. There's no real person behind the facades, just a shell left with no purpose yet a newfound appreciation for life.

He finds his way to the EAPS dimension, a world created as a reaction to his destruction of countless of dimensions. He wish to study it, to possibly find somewhere to belong. He has nowhere else to go.

He finds a home, easily more accepted than Eclipse and Puppet, merely by being more adapt at being generally pleasant, than either of them are.

Then he loses everything all over again.

Facing his Monty, breaks every single mask and facade he has ever built up his entire life.

The last remnant of his original home, used as nothing more than a distraction and grim reminder of everything he has ever lost.

We get to see a more raw Ruin, desperate and fumbling. He doesn't have the time to plot or scheme, he's just desperately acting and pushing people away for a single minded goal.

He never recovers from this.

People sees he'll sacrifice every single one of them without a second thought, for his one goal. He drops the pleasant facade, only having one care he desperately cling to.

When he loses his Monty, he's broken.

Sure he vows for revenge, but we never see the return of the Ruin we knew. He's raw and grieving. He's no longer playing any acts, all his masks gone and holds no will to rebuild them. Wearing his feelings on his sleeves, he stumbles into danger without a second thought.

Even without Jackie, Ruin ought to know better. That he's out numbered by Afton and his lackies.

He rambles his plans out loud to himself when Charlie was spying on him. The genius who never showed his cards and able to think ahead in 5D chess moves, now lost his focus and just throwing whatever at the wall to see what sticks.

He fumbles, he struggles in ways we have never seen before. He's grieving and not allowing himself time to mourn, just wishing to bury the feelings he can no longer hide.

When the Mimic finds his lair, he has no backup plans. Just stumbling his way out, until faced by Solar Flare that he has nowhere else to go but back to the Pizzaplex.

Where he knows he'll be laid bare, for everyone to see how far he has fallen.

The genius with the greatest death count of all villains, the animatronic that cheated against lie detectors without a sweat, the monster who managed to leave all rivals in the dust to die.

He's nothing now. He has nothing. He expects nothing, assuming he has no friends after what he pulled during the virus arc.

Even made immortal, unable to join his Monty wherever animatronic souls go. Expected to pay for his sins no matter how long it takes, through the heat death of universes, to witness it all, until his debt is paid.

He never expected consequences. Least of all lasting ones.

He has nothing.

Except.

He's still wanted back at the Pizzaplex. Eclipse is putting effort into finding Afton as well. Tiger Rock is probably the first person ever to get to know Ruin from the start, without his masks and facades, and only shown acceptance.

Ruin is far from the character he once was.

And it makes sense.

From a story perspective, any powerful antagonist finding themselves converted to the good side, always end up nerfed to show struggle instead of too easily beat their goals. We like struggle, it's what good story telling is built on.

I like how you can watch the very timeline when his redemption truly began - when he began to struggle.

He's now making mistakes and unable to plot his way out of the usual obstacles and confrontations. He's only now learning to actual trust someone - Tiger Rock.

He was never redeemed, but now his redemption arc truly begins, whether or not he wants it to.

Because he has nothing else. Not even a choice.

Okay theory time

Personally there’s a few big theories of mine on what could be happening with Eclipse.

1 - They (The Soliel/Eclipse family) move back to the TSAMS dimension

He wouldn’t be a character that shows up much, but more of a background character, him and his kids. One reason this could be happening is due to the threat to his kids through Afton, or the world turning on animatronics after the virus. They wouldn’t move in with the family, but be more like neighbors. This would make sense as we could get small updates on how their life is going, and also keep him alive in our eyes.

2 - Eclipse dies (again again again)

I hope this doesn’t happen, since it’s been expressed Eclipse literally cannot stay dead. Ruin made an automatic backup implanted into Eclipse, so whenever he dies he automatically comes back. This would be an eh ending to the show, as it seems too easy and rushed and would leave much left for the show to explain.

3 - The show simply ends

One of the most likely possibility. I don’t think they’re going to just cut out the characters in the show, since there’s a lot to be done with them. They’ll probably show up in other shows such as TSAMS or tlaes in a crossover of the sorts. They’ve done a lot of building these characters, especially Eclipse. 3 years with that guy like wow. I would personally be satisfied with this ending, as it leaves lots of room for fanfiction and such of what they’re doing now that they’re lives aren’t being monitored 24/7

I'm loving every last bit of this. But imagine, if you will; Eclipse now has the horrible chance of his kiddos getting lost exploring the tropical forests, or floating out to sea the second he takes his eyes off of them. Just a tiny Lunar in his water wings and donut floaty or the both of them on a giant Nessie floaty rafting away while Eclipse freaks out on shore.

I don't know why but seeing Eclipse come back all I could think of was about your Baby Back up Au. Which is awesome on a cosmic scale; but only what happened was Eclipse survived somehow, came back, the backups activated and he's been being a dad for the last few months.

Only the babies ended up escaping and got in the Pizzaplex. His whole monologue was him getting busted mid search and because he IS Eclipse of course he has to be himself and give long winded speeches. While internally screaming.

He walks into Sun and Moons room, finds his babies napping while Moons losing it and then just NOPES outta there.

the fact his defense mechanism is MONOLOGUES AND NOT... U KNOW... PRETNEDING TO BE SOLAR AND JUST ILL BE RIGHT DOWN... TOTOALLYU.. BUT GBSDKJD him just finding them and noping out like bros just outted himself hes not outting the babies (altho they find way.) i didnt see the last line cause immediate drawing so this was an alternate end:

Future villain idea for tsams: V1 Eclipse

V1 was cast out of Sun's head, and Moon said he probably ended up somewhere random

Meaning that his body is still out there somewhere

He was so stubborn that, even in his heavily damaged/injured state, I highly doubt he would've stayed still and let himself rot, wherever he popped up. Knowing him, the guy probably tried to drag himself somewhere and likely would've tried to repair himself out of spite

No one knows where he ended up, no one's found his body (that we know of), no one's been looking for him, given everything else that's been going on, and he just became an afterthought. If he took more than a year to somehow get somewhere and repair himself, and then came back with an absolute vengeance, I wouldn't be surprised. And honestly? It'd be the perfect cover. No one's looking for him, so he can lay low and do whatever he needs to do until he's fully operational again

Plus,, Vegeta went to the afterlife once, because he wanted to meet his grandpa (Monty’s dad). In the process, he found whatever version of Eclipse it was that blew up Lunar there, and Solar Flare was even present. If a previous iteration of Eclipse was there, in the afterlife, while another is still alive, that implies that they're not the same person

One was the original, one was a backup, and two were/are copies

So like. V1 gets cast out and assumed dead, but it's never confirmed. V2 wakes up and has the personality and the memories, and although he's the same guy, he's also not. Then V2 dies, and V3 pops up. V3 is a copy. He's got the memories and personality, but he knows he's not THE Eclipse. V4 is also a copy. The memories are there but his personality has shifted. Yes he's Eclipse, but in a way, he's also not. He's almost kinda doing what Solar did, and going through a similar process. The only thing different about their processes (aside from what they've been through) is the fact that one changed his name and the other didn't

V1 could still be out there somewhere, and we'd never even know until he was already back in working order and Doing Things again
