It's a nice romanticization of a guy who never says I love you to you and doesn't show it either but expects you to know it anyway, who doesn't communicate in general, who is constantly emotionally unavailable and immature, who apologizes for making the same mistakes again and again, who tries to gaslight you, who plays hot and cold with you, who plays on your insecurities when you have a justifiable point against him, often infantilizes you by telling you to grow up, but who ironically doesn't recognize you when you evolve, for whom you must always be the emotional support but very little the other way around, always giving and then taking away...

But yes, if you prefer this type of relationship and for you that is real and genuine rather than the guy who...

I don't know...

Tells you he loves you and more precisely shows it to you often (because actions are more important than words), who always communicates with you, is emotionally available and mature, doesn't play hot and cold with you, doesn't play on your insecurities during an argument, reassures you when you are insecure, does not treat you like children telling you to grow up, who supports your developments and changes, who is emotionally supportive, who able to usually read your mind because he knows you so well (and vice versa), who frankly makes very few mistakes with you and above all makes sure not to repeat those already made, etc.

No seriously, I hate the romanticization of Conrad Fisher as a romantic partner for Belly and for anyone in fact.

(I talk about the show precisely here, but Conrad is also horrible in the books)

yeah I’m aware of the whole deb ball situation and how Jeremiah was a dick because he didn’t dance with Belly … but he was kinda valid, hear me out.

if you found out that your mother was dying, it would also take precedence over anything in your life, and so it was completely normal for him to skip the dance, because the adrenaline from finding that out resulted in him needing to know how long she had left ykwim.

mortality is fragile.

the dick move came when he decided to beat up his brother over the situation 😭 like that wasn’t necessary at ALL.

You didn't think you and Jeremiah Fisher's relationship was that bad until you caught him flirting with two other girls at a beach bonfire party. Sure, there had been some rough moments during the time you were together, but this had to be the last straw. You knew this had to end, so you broke up with him right there.

Now you're sitting on the windy beach, crying with your head buried in your hands, the cold sand feels like it's swallowing you whole. Everyone around you is drinking, making out with each other, and celebrating the start of summer. All the sounds around you start to blend together until you can no longer hear anything, and breathing becomes harder.

"Hey, are you doing okay?" You hear a voice from someone behind you say..

You lift your head while wiping your tears, then look behind you. Standing there is a tall guy with curly dark hair and the cutest smile.

"Oh, uh yeah- I'm fine," you force a smile, but clearly don't look, or sound, believable enough.

"It sure doesn't look like you're fine." He sits down next to you, turning his head to face you, and he looks at you with his wide, brown eyes.

"I just don't want to bother anyone with my problems." A stray tear rolls down your cheek, and you're quick to wipe it away.

"I'd listen to you- I mean... if you want someone to talk to," he smiles sympathetically, "I'm Cam, Cameron, by the way."

You try to laugh through the tears as you respond by telling him your name, your voice shaking from the freezing cold weather.

"Oh, you're shivering- here," he takes off his dark green zip-up hoodie, putting it around your shoulders.

"Thanks."

"So you wanna tell me what's wrong?"

"Um... I just broke up with my boyfriend. But it’s fine, it was for the better anyway."

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry," he says, putting an arm around your shoulders. "I'm here for you."

You don’t remember how long you spent on the beach crying into Cam’s chest until he walked you home, his hand never leaving yours.

So, recently I started watching “The Summer I Turned Pretty” (I know, pretty late) butttt just finished season 1 and I am proud to say I am team Taylor and Conrad. (Yes, this is slightly influenced by those reels and my algorithm but, it’s a win! Taylor’s my girl 🫶🏻🫶🏻 and no, I don’t ship Taylor and Conrad it’s just that I am in two different teams)

Tbh, i have a funny feeling about Jeremiah.. I feel he is upto something 😭😭because what do you mean you got jealous when Belly “almost” kissed Conrad but didn’t get jealous when Belly and Cam dated?? 😮‍💨😮‍💨🙌🏻🙌🏻

My boy thought he was in a competition!! 🙄🙄

Anyways, speaking of Cam Cameron!! OH MY GOD, he is such a sweetie!!! Give me him I don’t mind y’all 🥹🥹

Now that Amazon put the first 2 seasons of TSITP on youtube, I decided to bite the bullet and finally watch it. I'm only on team Cam Cameron, who was honestly too good for Belly... and Belly is seriously making me think she has an attachment disorder or something. She showed zero romantic interest in Jeremiah at any point in the show until he vocalized interest in her (and his interest is... dubious imo), and suddenly she's thinking they might be "meant to be"?? And sure enough, still comparing all her time with [current boy] to how she thinks her time with Conrad would be instead. This would be a sign of unresolved mental health issues in a more self-aware show.

How are we supposed to be taking Jere as a serious love interest when we've already been presented with the truly great guy who is the "challenger" to her love for Conrad who she ultimately rejects (Cam)? Jere does not serve as a better love interest than Cam, and there hasn't been enough romantic development between him and Belly to take this switch seriously. We've seen small hints of his interest in her here and there, but like I said, we've seen nothing from her side. Add on top of that, his interest actually seemed to take a rather sinister turn when he decided to launch a bottle rocket at Belly and Conrad on the 4th, and seemed to be scheming to get Conrad out of the way the next episode.

Look, I know lots of Rinas seem to be Jelly shippers, but I have no idea why. Jeremiah is a red flag, frankly Conrad has his issues too (marginally more understandable issues, but still hurtful to Belly AND POOR NICOLE), and Belly is a red flag herself. And knowing what happens in S3 with Jelly, those Rinas are really letting me down bc HUH?!

With season 3 just around the corner, I really felt like making a video edit about Belly and Jeremiah. I’ve always loved their on-screen chemistry and the way their scenes are filmed—there’s something so soft and radiant about them. I’ve also always had a soft spot for the “best friends to lovers” trope.

That being said, I genuinely like Conrad and his story with Belly too, which is rare for me—I usually pick a clear “side” when it comes to love triangles. But honestly, no matter who Belly ends up with, I don’t think I’ll be too disappointed, because I truly enjoy both brothers. If I had to choose, I might lean a little more toward Jeremiah and the light he brings as a character. But then again, I also love Conrad’s more reserved, brooding side... Ugh, it’s a tough call 😅

My only little issue sometimes is Belly herself—she can be a bit of a red flag here and there. But at the same time, I do get her character, and I think that’s what makes her feel so real.

Of course, I’ve read the books, so if the show stays true to the original story, I already have an idea of what’s coming in season 3—but that doesn’t make me any less excited to see it all play out.

Me when I see people saying that Conrad is the only one who helped Belly to want to get out of the pool when she pretended to be in pain and not Jeremiah who laugh so that is an argument in favor of the Conrad team apparently...

Except... that we know that beyond the fact that Belly was pretending, we literally heard Jeremiah in the back not at all surprised by this deception and that he knew that it was surely a lie to attract them to the water...

So what I see in that scene is that Jeremiah knows Belly well, logical, since she is his best friend.
