One Piece Headcanons - One Piece Fan Letter's Brother & More

Let's finally put words and these two magnificent Marine Brothers along with some headcanons. Dinner is ready!

Older Brother

Name: Gina D. Morino

Birthplace: South Blue

Age: 32 yo (DO NOT call him old, he hates it and he’s not)

Marine Rank: Master Chief Petty Officer

Favorite Food: His favorites fruits are Mangoes and Bananas (because monkey love bananas apparently). He has a weakness for sweets and parfaits but barely consume them to stay in shape. Meat (especially Grilled Beef or Lamb) in the honor of his favorite pirate

Least liked Food: Cranberries and he hates any types of pasta and tomato meatball sauce because one day he had to clean up his brother vomit after getting drunk and they just ate that very meal. The disgusting smell and pool of digested food on the floor forever turned him off from this meal.

Typical older sibling syndrome, when he was younger his parents put a lot of “you must show the example! You are the first-born!” type of pressure.

Back in elementary school up until high school, he had to take ballet classes (under the order of his parents) when his younger brother could choose whatever he wanted to do as extracurricular activities. He changed it every week or so and their parents folded EVERYTIME.

Still enjoys dancing but keeps it to himself because it was often used as a nasty joke (Do you know my big bro loves to dance?! Come on show us!!!! Hahahaha you should be in a band!). The reason why it bothers him so much is because he despises when someone’s passion (no matter what it is) is not taken seriously or mocked/ridiculed.

He is taller and never mentions the fact that his arrogant little brother is wearing height lengthening insoles to make both of them the same height. The younger often brags when he appears a little taller. Gina refrains from mentioning the truth because his brother is insecure about his height

Has a Luffy shrine in his bedroom in a shoe box he hides under his bed.   

Everything he eats turns into 10 pounds of fat if he’s not careful contrary to his brother who can inhaled gallons of food and not gain a single pound.

Always loses at card games against his younger brother

Single and never being in a relationship. If he gained 1$ every time his parents asked when he’ll get married, he would be richer than all celestial dragons combined.

Currently operates in New Marineford but would love to work and discover the East Blue (Luffy birthplace)

Favorite Marine: Gets along with Koby well. Female higher-ups won’t leave him alone. He is working under Tashigi’s leadership, but she recommended him to Tsuru who agreed to further his training and possibly promote him since he made so much improvement. Bel-Mère can’t contain her laughter “You’re so popular with the ladies!”

Least Liked Marine:

Borsalino. He is not forgiving him for almost killing him with his beams of lights.

Akainu & Greenbull: With all that happened to him recently, his stance on the Marine, pirates and the world are changing but those two men’s narratives are too much in his opinion and negative in the long term.

Favorite Food: He loves Strawberries and swears Rhubarb is the greatest thing ever (everyone ignores him). Seafood boil enthusiast and Sandwich Lover, it doesn’t matter what’s inside of it.

Least liked Food: Hate greens and almost pukes at the sight of them, his brother thinks he need to grow up.

He received the typical youngest sibling favoritism, and it got to his head.

Favorite Activity to do with his brother: Challenging to anything (like races, arm wrestling, push-ups and loses 90% of the time but ALWAYS bring up how it’s the only time his older brother can win and how he’s better than him at life blah blah blah...,). One thing they agree on is their love of collecting and analysis wanted/bounty posters. They are geeks about it and is always trying to learn about what going in the world of piracy even if “the pirates are bad, and we are the good marine”

Had many girlfriends but struggles to stay faithful and often uses his marine rank to get his way with the ladies. Gold Medal Womanizer.

Biggest dog fan while his brother is a rodent (rabbit, Guinea pig, Hamster & Capybara) type of guy

For unknown reason, mobs of pigeons have an affair with him and often chase him, he stopped fighting it when he learned that birds pooping on you meant great luck and it happens every time. “I DIDN’T CHOSE LUCK, LUCK CHOSE ME!”

Favorite Marine: Akainu, for being the strongest in his opinion. He loves to hang out with Django & Full-Body. Not only they are in the same rank but they are cool dudes to have a good time & dance with. Clovis likes above all when Django tells his adventures when he was a pirate. There’s thousands of stories and all of them have all type of information about pirates and the world, it fascinates him to no end.

Least Liked Marine: Hina.

He will never admit how hard it is for him to ask for help to his brother even in his worst moments because of his gigantic ego. Marineford was a painful and bitter lesson in humility even if his “spoiled brat” personality never went away or reduced a little bit.

Name: Barclay Early Cumberbatch

Birthplace: East Blue

Age: 24 yo

Marine Rank: Seaman Recruit First Class

Favorite Food: Beef Sausages, Quiche & Eggplant Spread

Least liked Food: Spicy Foods, Cinamon & Iced Coffee (he thinks it’s an abomination to the art of coffee)

Rich kid who got in with his father’s connections, this is the highest rank he could get without traditionally “climbing the ladder” and he’s bitter about it

It was not clear, but Helmeppo know this guy, his family was working with Captain Morgan (during his prime). Helmeppo mentioned how Barclay always had narcissistic/bullying/controlling tendencies worse than him back in days. Helmeppo always tries to stay as far as he possibly can and advice others to do the same

He was the type to questions his teachers and starting arguments with them over the taught material back in college/marine academy.

Often complain how uncomfortable the fodder marines’ uniform is

He often shoves civilians out of his way or kicks dogs.

Doesn’t respect women in the Marine

You would think him and Greenbull are personality and ideology twins, but he despises the green admiral for being “annoying”, his closeness with the fleet admiral and for being egregiously unattractive.

 HE CAN’T STAND KOBY! He had to work under him many times and he can’t bottle his hatred for the pink haired boy. His voice, the way he dresses, EVERYTHING. Barclay always depicts him as someone desperate for the validation of higher-ups and talentless.

Smoker. Told the vice admiral to “put some clothes on”. Smoker didn’t acknowledge his existence.

X Drake. Knowing Drakes’s endeavor with women, he made him grab a seaman recruit’s breasts and got suspended for it, but his rich daddy bailed him out like nothing happened.

He made Hibari’s life a living nightmare luckily Bel-Mère was here to check him.

In 2024, there were 52 Geigi/Maiko debuts (I know of) all over Japan, and there are currently two Minarai who have received professional names, but did not debut as of 26. December. There were 15 new unique names and no duplicate names among the 2024 debuts/Minarai.

Iku growls and starts to kick him again, squirming against his hold. He growls and decides to do something. Going to twist his thumb.

"I figure you would get out of this hold. You seem to be the type to do so you know." he keeps holding him down but he didn't move seeing Iku trying to get out of his hold. He sees the kick aiming for his head wincing a little as he keeps a good hold on him.

KOKIA updates - July 1-14, 2024

Below, I have summarized KOKIA’s announcements and messages for the first half of July, 2024. As explained here, this is the new style of updates for the foreseeable future by necessity. I unfortunately still can't make any promises about full translations yet. Thank you for your understanding.

Upcoming performances

In her news entry for July 1, KOKIA announces she's returning to Shanghai this summer. This is the concert she had to postpone way back in 2020: 'Flower banquet under starry skies'. At long last, the concert will now be performed as yet, with new content after 4 years of waiting. The dates are August 10 and 11, with the 10th being the date of the Tanabata star festival in China. As originally planned, the concert will be held at the Shanghai Daning Theatre. Tickets are available via Bilibili membership or the theatre app.

The synopsis promises she will perform her song Hana utage ('flower banquet'), and that the concert will make use of the latest projection fusion techniques to carry you into a fantastical KOKIA world. In a very rare occurrence, it will permitted to film one song in the encore session.

Another new performance gets announced in her news entry for July 4: KOKIA will be appearing at the Engawa music festival Mizu no oto concert ('sound of water') at Dorogawa Onsen (hot springs), Tenkawa village, Nara prefecture. The performances are on September 28 and 29, with the free pre-concert on the 28th from 19:00 to 20:00, the main concert on the 29th from 13:30 to 16:00 (standing free, seats paid) and the free Engawa concert from 16:30 to 19:00. KOKIA will make her appearance during the main concert on the 29th.

As previously reported, KOKIA will be holding a strings concert on November 2 at Suntory Hall Blue Rose, Tokyo: SHI-NA-RU. She talks a bit more about this in her news entry for July 1. The afternoon performance opens at 14:45 and starts at 15:30, with the evening performance opening at 18:15 and starting at 19:00. General ticket sales are now open and linked above. She will be accompanied by pianist Souta Seta, violinist Norihiro Tsuru, and cellist Ayako.

One Piece Chapter 1082 - Initial Thoughts

Well this one took a while to get up, likely due to Golden Week and Viz saying no chapter for 2 weeks, but we finally got a scanlation from TCB so let's delve into it!

We've ticked stuff off with Kid and Law, Garp is ongoing, what's next on the agenda?

Chopper I don't think Nami will be happy if you eat Zeus

T-Bone Nooooooo! I liked that dude

Tsuru and Sengoku lament his murder as well

I guess it didn't help T-Bone's cause that he was in a kingdom dying of starvation, still why you gotta kill the guy who literally would give you the clothes off his back?

The Cross Guild's bounty system has put some unease in the Marines about people backstabbing them, but at the same time Pirates do deal with that on the daily

Hina shows up now, seems the only prominent Marines we haven't seen recently are Fujitora and Smoker

Hina tells them that Garp went off to save Koby, and took Tsuru's granddaughter with him

The wording implies that Garp is not in SWORD himself, he just 'teamed up' with them, even though his students are in SWORD...hmmm

Over to Buggy, congratulating the guy who killed T-Bone

This guy? I want to hate it, but he probably did it out of desperation, and I know T-Bone wouldn't have fought back against a civilian...I dunno I'm still in disbelief, sad disbelief

Buggy has a system of gassing up the culprit, then assuring them that they'll have protection by joining the Cross Guild

Heh, Barley-sama

The Cross Guild have a new ship annnnd it's Buggytastic, much to Buggy's distain

Yeah you shouldn't leave any creative designs solely under your men Buggy you should've learned that from the posters

The 'Meeting Room' aka Mihawk and Crocodile's torture dungeon where they beat up Buggy's head (settle down fanfic writers!)

Crocodile is still on his plans of Utopia, Mihawk's surprisingly okay with that though, guess a single state where he can just be in peace would suit his desires too

Buggy though disagrees with the plan, stating they're doing things backwards

More context in flashback to come with Shanks and Buggy

Huh, it seems Buggy's rift with Shanks is more than just the treasure map incident, Buggy gave up on Laugh Tale because he expected Shanks to be the one to get there, but then when Roger was executed Shanks decided against going for the time being, which kinda stumped Buggy

It's an interesting new dimension that Buggy's disdain for Shanks is rooted more in disappointment, since he feels let down that Shanks didn't follow in Roger's footsteps

But since Shanks is now going after the One Piece, and Buggy is deemed his equal as a Yonko, he wants to go to Laugh Tale first

Crocodile and Mihawk of course disagree, wanting to be smarter than just picking fights with the other Yonko, but Buggy notes that it's about getting to the treasure

He then uses the crew to rally his point, reminding them all of the reason they set out to sea

Of course the minions love it, so Crocodile and Mihawk have no choice in the matter anymore

Back to the Revolutionaries and there's a ship from afar

Each of the Commanders' subordinates/vice captains are checking it out

Cow Man is Ushiano, subordinate of Morley

Metal arm girl is Ahiru, subordinate of Betty

Round Checkered dude is Gyamble, subordinate of Lindbergh

And the dude eating what looks to be a glass bottle is Jiron, subordinate of Karasu

Sabo's alive!

Gyamble you made the bet you cough it up!

Oh they're Binoculars he's eating

Sabo managed to save some Lulusia people, including the milk girl from the Ace cover story

Koala is rightfully angry and relieved at the same time

He...wasn't on Lulusia when it happened? But we saw him in the light...We haven't seen Catarina Devon for a while...though he did know the people's names

Sabo is having a private convo with Ivankov and Dragon though, noting that what he knows could endanger them

Okay Oda, are you REALLY gonna tell us what happened in the Reverie? Or are you gonna move to another situation and follow up with the Revolutionaries after Sabo's told them?

A lot going down in that chapter, as I suspected though still not done with the external plots, I must admit I do miss my merry band of pirates.

Still in disbelief about T-Bone though, might be one of the 5 fans he has but he was a good guy, one of the few good marines in that whole shindig and to be off-screened like that it just doesn't sit well with me. A big part of me hopes it's some kind of con, and maybe T-Bone faked his death so the people would have money, but that's me being Carrot4Nakama levels of hopeful.

Strangely enough Crocodile and Mihawk did lose points for me, they feel like quitters compared to Buggy's impassioned speech about pursuing the very top of your desires. I suppose Mihawk is less so since he's already the top of his field, but Crocodile feels like he just wants to be a king, even though we know from Miss Goldenweek's (coincidence?) cover story that Crocodile's dream is to be Pirate King. Buggy won some charisma points there, but you had T-Bone killed so minus points for that too! Strangely though I didn't lose points on Shanks, understanding more about why Buggy is mad was illuminating and adds more points there but part of me feels like Shanks knew something Buggy didn't, we never know what Roger said to him after returning from Laugh Tale, Roger also wanted his son to be the one who would shake the world, and Rayleigh even said 'we were too early', so I don't feel like Shanks is a quitter as much, he was waiting for the right moment.

I had no doubts that Sabo was alive, but I am curious about his comment of not being at Lulusia during the incident. He did save a bunch of people so I am more inclined to believe it's actually him, but there is that seed of doubt.

While there's 'no break next week' for Oda there might be one for Shonen Jump so we'll monitor that situation, but it feels like the most earth shattering twists of this arc are still lying in wait.

the skidding wheels of the bullet train perked ringo from her phone, quickly pocketing it as she walked towards the opening doors. a long but eventful day at work left her almost exhausted, contemplating a nap on the ride back-

"YOOOOOOOO!" exclaimed far off as she turned, the hard hitting boots mitsuru wore emitting as loud of a sound as his voice. "KEEP THE DOOR OPEN YALLLLLLL!"

a part of her did not want to keep the door open. however the good co-worker part of her quickly slapped her hand on the left end of the entrance long enough for mitsuru to get inside; there went her short nap she supposed.

slowly pulling himself up from his half crouch panting mitsuru finger gunned at her, his coat over his shoulder and hat clasped on his belt. "yooo ringo thanks for that!" she shrugged responding despondently "what are co-workers for?"

"right!?" he smacked her shoulder blades with a chuckle as she kept herself from falling. "man y'know i always say that but the guys sure don't reciprocate that."

"i wonder why." she grumbled, walking to an empty seat as he followed flopping next to her. "man i dunno." he feigned tearing up "poor ol tsuru's friends just take advantage of his good will."

"what a semi-convincing display of emotion your pulling."

he turns back sharply with a sharp smile. "ey thanks! been workin on it."

"can you also work on keeping your voice down?"

"heh, guess i do owe ya one for that so sure."

"thank you."

lightly tapping on his phone mitsuru glanced down at the red head currently resting on his shoulder. wasn't even five minutes before she passed out.

another stop another few guards and workers coming on, he almost wouldnt've taken much notice until a pair of legs was standing right in front of them. taking advantage of his shaded lenses he looked up just enough to see the random guard staring at them- no wait- not directly at them but at-

...his smile made mitsuru snear, slowly pulling his glasses down as he looked up, gaining the guy's surprised attention.

"yo." low and dark as he glared. "can i help ya with somethin'?"

immediately he left in embarrassment. mitsuru "tsk"d putting an arm around ringo's shoulder. the creeps they let work at the prison he swore.

the rattling of the train station's vendor stopped as a small pack of ice dropped, mitsuru quickly picking it up to put on his right eye.

"psh nah t's fine. don't blame ya. man ya pack a punch though." ringo loured lightly, mitsuru noticing quickly before her expression shifted to look more neutral.

"ey, how about we get drinks? my treat." she perks up surprised. "wh- why your treat? i hit you so i should be the one to."

"ya bought the ice pack for me so 't's only fair."

"but that makes it uneven compared to your help on the train-" he put a finger in front of her, a smile on his face. "it ain't a competition ring. 't's just what friends do."

"friends..." she mumbled as he took two steps ahead of her, offering a hand. "so what'dya say? can also just escort ya home if ya want." her face felt warmer then she remembered, brushing back her bang before nodding.

¨You have been doing a remarkable job in such little time, Commander L/N. We all have great expectations regarding your transference to our Marine Headquarters.¨ 

The words of the Rear Admiral barely scratched your mind as you discreetly observed the pink-haired boy´s reflection on the crystal clear window. 

He maintained a similar posture to yours: chin up, chest out, shoulders back, and stomach in. However, while your fingers remained paralleled to your trousers, you took a glimpse of his clenched fist, thumb fidgeting the side of his index finger. 

¨Vice Admiral Tsuru was reluctant to sign your transfer. She said you remind her of herself in the past, which is always an excellent compliment to hear.¨ you nodded, acknowledging his words  ¨We´re glad we convinced her.¨

Your heart warmed with his words, and you almost felt bad because you knew the disappointing outcome O-Tsuru-san would have at the end of this. She trained you with the iron face of a merciless soldier, and the elegance that resembled the animal of her name.

It has been three years since you received the green card from your captain to part ways in a long-term solo mission. A journey to excavate the putrid secrets of the so-called defenders of the law. You learned after a short time that justice is not so black and white.

Not that you planned to reveal the dirt, no. That intel your captain could sell to the Revolutionary Army and keep the capital running. You were interested in the arms race, the corrupt diplomacy, and more importantly, the dark pipes where traitors flowed.

Someone from inside the Yonkos was feeding the Marines with crucial information about the Emperors´ activities. And in such a close fight, you could not take those risks.

All other Emperors must have their own undercover agents within the Marines, but even that was a dispute. You could point some names to your boss, who confirmed what was suspected. Those would usually be the best of the best, extravagant and loud.

But not you. You didn't have to make that much noise. You slid between the floors of New Marineford like a snake swimming with the current. Earning the respect of your superiors and being promoted without ringing any bells. You accepted each medal with a firm salutation and relentless performance. 

¨The trip must have been displeasing. Submerging ten thousand meters underwater and rising to these fiendish waters require a good rest. Our Marine Captain Koby will escort you to your quarters, Commander Y/N. The remaining instructions shall be presented tomorrow.¨

You saluted the Rear Admiral in front of you and turned to the exit, passing by Koby, who waited for you to leave first.  When your paths crossed, the pace of your heartbeats quickened, pumping more blood through your body and leaving a burning sensation on your cheeks. 

The involuntary response was instantly interpreted as alertness to danger, which needed to be handled with caution. 

Can´t let my guard down around this one, you thought.

In fact, you planned to keep as much distance as you could from him. An officer let slip that he has been gaining incredible control over his Observation Haki since the Paramount War. 

But the wind seemed to change direction, and you began to swim against the current. When the morning came, you were assigned to be his partner for an undetermined time, and he would act as your superior. The idea of being bossed around by a younger marine got your temper sparked. 

Only he was not like the others, treating you in a patronizing and condescending way. He spoke to you with the same cordiality and politeness he addressed everybody else. 

Slowly, your concrete cold expression began to soothe. You would still remind yourself how annoying his good manners were, though. So annoying, seriously!

¨Good morning, Y/N-san!¨ he greeted as you joined him for breakfast. 

¨Good morning, Koby.¨ 

¨Our Border Force correspondent sent his report early in the morning with information about possible Yonkos´ alliances in the Wano Country. We are arranging a meeting as soon as possible.¨ 

You didn´t like to handle work so early, but this subject, in particular, raised your spirits. ¨Good. It was about time.¨

You noticed that he wore a different headband. ¨What happened?¨ 

¨Hm?¨ he brought the soup bowl close to his mouth. 

¨The bandana. Green, with the fried eggs.¨ he choked on the miso soup, coughing like he had swallowed poison. 

You reached for a paper tissue and handed it to him. ¨K-Koby, are you ok?¨

¨Y-Y/N... Y/N-san...¨ he coughed some more ¨They´re not... fried eggs...¨

¨Oh...¨ your brows raised slightly ¨What are they?¨

A depressive aura grew around him ¨They are flowers, YN-san...¨

The edge of your lips contorted as you tried to hide a smile. You haven´t felt like smiling genuinely for years. Annoying boy!

From that moment on, ignoring him became more difficult. He started to ask you to train with him or invite you to spend some time with him and Helmeppo whenever you had free time. Eventually, he began to ask you how he looked before an important meeting. 

Most of the time, you would reply something like ¨ok¨. But sometimes, the mouth was quicker than the brain, and you would let an ¨impeccable¨ slip out, followed by an awkward throat clearing and blushed cheeks.

¨Oh my-¨ you stopped yourself from finishing the sentence. 

You were chosen to complete this mission due to your excellent skills in hiding emotions and acting calm under stressful situations. No one could break you. 

Within the Marines, no joke could make you crack a smile, and no torture could make you spill secrets. 

Why did you want to ask if he was ok?

Koby had entered his office with bumps and bloody bruises over his face. His always neat uniform was blotchy, and he carried a first aid kit. 

¨Garp-san paid a visit.¨ He sat on the couch and opened the white box, throwing everything on the coffee table. ¨I bet it wasn't like this with Tsuru-san.¨ he chuckled. 

¨No. She would beat me up, wash me and hang me up to dry.¨ 

You shot from the chair, moving towards the clumsy pinkette, who struggled to attend to his injuries. He tried to hold the mirror with one hand and suture his gash with the other. 

¨Thank yo-¨

¨Shh. Don´t move.¨

You leaned closer to have a better look, giving Koby the same chance. Your delicate perfume smelled like it was tailor-made for you. Your breathing was slightly irregular, and your lip twitched with every given stitch. Your fingers felt like feathers on his skin, so much that he didn´t even feel a sting. 

The job was fast and efficient, making Koby wish Garp had put more effort into his Love Fist. Grabbing a piece of wet cotton, you cleaned the dried blood.  

¨Alright...¨ you whispered.

¨Alright...¨ he whispered back.

You were inches apart from his face, your eyes traveling across the scar on his forehead, the pink locks, and kind features. Your mind traced back all the way to the Paramount War. You had very little knowledge about him, but the words he spoke that day have always made your heart pound like cannonballs. 

You will make an excellent Admiral one day, Koby. 

I hope you don´t hate me. 

¨Y-Y/N-san...¨

¨Hm?¨

¨Your smile is beautiful.¨

¨What?¨ The stupid scene of yours was interrupted like a DJ stopping the record player. 

With cheeks getting pinker than his hair, you shot up and marched back to the chair and your newspaper. ¨You clean this up.¨ 

He left a low chuckle out and began gathering the mess. 

Oh, no, Y/N. You have got to be kidding me. 

He is a freaking marine. Breathe. 

There were a vast number of reasons why you couldn´t like him: from him being a Marine Captain and you being a pirate to the fact that your mission was coming to a conclusion.

Meaning that your journey as his partner would be very soon reaching its end. The meeting with this mysterious correspondent regarding the Yonkos´ operations in the New World would be the last move in this chess game. You would be going home. Mission completed. Everything perfect, right? 

Right, perfect. Impeccable! Ugh!

¨This is Border Officer code 404890. Secure line confirmed.¨ you spoke with a low but clear voice through the nail transponder. 

¨What´s the status on our birdie?¨

¨Positive. The birdie is located at 03:24:01.¨ you gave your boss a coordinate to the name of the Marine informant. The answer you took three years to find out remained on file number one, third page, suspect number twenty-four. 

An amused laugh echoed on your end, and you buried the speaker on your jacket to muffled the sound. 

¨At least he is not one of ours.¨ a chuckle ¨Great job, Y/N.¨

¨Thank you, boss.¨

¨I know this mustn't have been easy, but you were impeccable as always.¨

Yeah, impeccable. 

¨You know the protocol now. We´ll see each other in a few days. You´ll have a party waiting for you, kid.¨

¨Aye, aye, boss. But I want the good booze.¨  Both of you laughed. 

You finished the call, and the smile on your lips died as the image of a pink-haired boy invaded your mind. You wished he was a jerk like everybody else. 

It would have been so easy. 

¨Who were you talking to?¨ your chest contracted, pushing the air out of your lungs and sending extra blood supply to your muscles. 

You hid the transponder into your jacket and turned, facing your Marine Captain. 

¨Eavesdropping, Koby?¨

What should I do?

¨Y/N-san, who were you talking to?¨ he repeated himself, offering the benefit of the doubt. You sighed.

¨My captain.¨ 

Why the need to be honest with him?

¨Y/N-san, please don´t tell me-¨

¨I´m sorry, Koby. I wish I didn´t have to do this.¨ you couldn´t bring yourself to face him.

¨A-Are you a pirate? Why?¨

You chuckled ¨Why am I a pirate?¨

¨Why did you do this?¨ his face was pale, making your guts twitch in guilt.

¨I´m on a mission. But I´ll leave soon.¨

¨You are like... Vergo-san.¨ he sounded disappointed.

¨I am nothing like Vergo. You know this.¨ or at least you hoped he did. 

He closed the door slowly, eyes fixed on your figure. The bright light from the window made him look like an ethereal painting.

While you tried to predict his next move, whether he was going to interrogate you or kick your ass, Koby acted calm and collected, not hesitating. He trusted his Observation Haki to guide his next move. Or maybe his heart.

You saw a pink blur closing distance like a missile, and before you could dodge, his hands pulled you by the waist, connecting your bodies and lips. 

He forced your back to meet the thick window with a gasp that was muffled by the kiss. His touch was rough upon the fabric of your uniform, but his mouth felt soft against yours.

Your hands moved to his hair, removing the round pair of glasses and the green bandana so you could get lost in his locks. His grip was harsh under the fabric of your uniform, but his hair felt soft on your fingertips. 

A moan escaped your lips when he parted the kiss with a loud snap and struck the glass with both hands, keeping you trapped in the middle. You let go of his hair and grabbed him by the collar, not letting him go away.

¨I am kissing you... but I am angry, Y/N-san...¨ his breath was heavy and carried with a myriad of emotions. 

¨I know... I am sorry.¨

¨Why?¨

¨Because I like you, Koby. A lot.¨ he paused for a second, fighting the urge to admit the same.

¨What was your mission?¨

This is the last lie, I promise, Koby. ¨The Marines possessed vital information about something my boss wants. I needed to get it.¨

¨Now that I know that you´re a pirate and that you stole Marine´s assets, I´m gonna have to hunt you down.¨

¨I´ll be waiting for you.¨ 

You stared him in the eyes, and he kissed you to stop himself from saying what he really wanted.

Yo~~ ngl, I didn’t even notice birdie’s possessive behavior until that ask pointed it out 😂. but now it makes me wonder, what do aokiji and kid think of this? Ik kid’s possessive af, but i feel like he’d find possessive behavior annoying. As for aokiji, i just realized you prob can’t answer due to Bonds spoilers lol.

But now i’m wondering: if birdie decided to go along with tsuru and her legion, do you think birdie would be less messed up?? I’m beyond curious on birdie and aokiji’s past, and think (in my head anyway) that he’s somehow the cause to her behavior, like not following orders and just being difficult. But anyways, looking forward to when you get to Bonds!! Also, if I may ask for a tiny hint, will we get to see any kizaru/birdie interactions thru flashbacks maybe?

Hey, thank you for the ask! Sorry it took a while for me to get to it.

Let's get to the Kid part right away: a possessive birdie turns him on. I'm with you that he normally would find possessiveness (directed to him) very annoying, and he wouldn't stand for it with the random women he was messing around before, buuut... because birdie is such a tsundere, and he loooves teasing her, he gets off by seeing her getting jealous, and it amuses him when she tries to get his attention back. Because she always tries to play it cool like she's not really smitten with him, Kid loves seeing her forced to show her feelings. I guess everything is different when it's someone you really care for. 🤷‍♀️

Now, Aokiji! There are some hints in Captive that may partially answer your doubts, so I can get into them without turning spoilerish.

More than annoying, he finds birdie's possessiveness toward him somewhat concerning. Aokiji knows she's not independent and idealizes him way too much. We subtly get this feeling in a few instances: he wants her to decide for herself what to do with the ancient books, he leaves her alone during the ball so she can handle the social situation on her own and, at the very end, he wants her to say that she will be fine without him (which she fails to). There are other examples in the flashbacks.

At the same time, he doesn't do enough to address this issue, and it's not clear why. Did Aokiji really want her by his side all the time? Was it convenient? Did he think about her like his daughter? Was he simply too lazy? Because of this, yes, he enabled birdie's toxic/asocial/headstrong traits through her teens, so they dragged into her twenties and she never really learned how to connect with others.

The thing is, like you pointed out, we do not get Aokiji's POV in Captive, so it's hard to make out what he thinks. It's clear he cares about her to some extent, but not much else. You'll get some clarification in Bonds, although you'll probably have to wait for the very end.

I'd love to write some birdie/Kizaru interaction! I'll see if I can sneak something in Bonds.

Lastly, what if birdie had accepted Tsuru's invitation to enter her squad? Her social skills and behavior would be more developed, but... she likely would be just as unhappy. Birdie doesn't do well with women (she doesn't do well with humans, actually, but there are better chances with men), so she would probably feel like an outsider all the time anyway.

What could've actually been a game changer was joining Smoker's G5. There's mutual respect between birdie and Smoker/Tashigi, she could truly connect with them in due time. Plus, G5 men are the rascals of the Marines: birdie could do great among them. Not only she would benefit from a greater degree of freedom (with Smoker's trust), but as she rises through the ranks, she would have to keep in line men that are just as difficult as her, so she'd learn first-hand how much of a pain in the ass she is/was. Furthermore, birdie and Tashigi could have become true friends.

Yes, this is one of the very few scenarios in which birdie really finds her place in the Marines. Had Aokiji won the duel and become the new Fleet Admiral, he probably would have sent birdie to Smoker.

Mi mugiwara favorito es Usopp. Vi One Piece de pequeña, pero me puse al día en el manga de adolescente y pasaba por muchos momentos de complejos de inseguridad y de no confiar en mí misma o que todo el mundo confiara en mí menos yo, justo como él. Por eso, me siento identificada con él. Pero todos los mugiwara me gustan. Quizá el que me guste menos es Franky, pero, porque los demás me gustan más.

Todas las mujeres marines tienen mis respetos. Pero mi corazón, siempre tendrá un lugar especial para Tashigi, la primera mujer marine viva que conocimos, y Tsuru, quien durante mucho tiempo fue la mujer marine con el rango más alto.

También les tengo cariño a Smoker y Hina con su tira y afloja y a Smoker por su sentido de la justicia. Garp es un cachondo, me encanta. Y la evolución que tienen Koby y Helmeppo es brutal.

Vivi es mi siguiente personaje favorito sin ser de la tripulación. Como tú, vi Arabasta de niña, de hecho, cuando entré en el fandom me sorprendió que a muchos no les gustara ese arco, cada vez que lo veo, la piel de gallina.

También me gustan mucho Hanckok y sus hermanas (pasado y construcción de personajes brutal) y Marguerite, la primera kuja que conocimos y fue amable con Luffy pese a saber que los matarían. Durante un tiempo los shipee.

También me gustan mucho Monet, sé que salió poco, y las gemelas Lola y Chiffon, Pudding, Brulee, Katakuri y Perospero. Y, por supuesto, su madre, Charlotte Linlin.

La muerte de Ace todavía me duele y el sacrificio de Bon Clay, nunca la podré superar y Barbablanca me gusta mucho. Pero mi yonko favorito siempre será Shanks.

Y Buggy es Buggy, es incomparable. Risas aseguradas. Me encanta cada vez que parezca. También Crocodile es mafioso total.

Y Jewelry Bonney y Bartholomew Kuma, pero no digo más porque no sé si vas al día con el manga o anime.

De la tripulación principal los quiero a todos pero supongo que les tengo menos cariño a Jimbe y a Brook quizás porque ya me pillaron más mayor y realmente a los demás les tengo un cariño especial de infancia. Si que es cierto que mis favoritos son Luffy, Nami y Sanji.

Saliendo de los Strawhats diría que Buggy es uno de mis personajes favoritos, seguido de Crocodile, Law, mi adoradísimo Bon Clay (bebeeee) y Charlotte Pudding. También me gusta mucho Garp, Ace (que siempre dolerá en lo más profundo del corazón y que además me parece un personaje tragiquísimo), Smoker y Tashigi.

Peeeeero mi favorita que no es una Strawhat pero sí que lo es y es una reina literal y metafóricamente es Vivi. O sea la adoro muchísimo a Vivi. El Arco de Arabasta es quizás el que más me ha marcado porque me pilló muy chiquita y es un arco muy largo y significativo y además me hizo llorar muchísimo que Vivi eligiese antes la responsabilidad con su reino en lugar de un mundo que claramente también le encantaba como pirata. Y que luego siempre haya sido una super supporter de sus amigos en las altas esferas, y el hecho de que haya terminado surgiendo que es una D (y la única D femenina que queda ojocuidao) no sé, le tengo como un cariño muy majo. Pero bueno en general es que es muy difícil no querer a cualquier personaje de One Piece porque Oda les da a todos tantísimo carisma que cuesta mucho no hacerlo.

Such a fun song!! I love the whole train sequence tbh. I love that William was sort of quizzing Louis, Fred and Moran about what they think was happening, then revealing to them what the truth was. It feels a lot like a glimpse into their non-mission lives, how the Moriarty group interacts with each other. I love it a lot!!!!

I didn’t label the lines according to who was singing because there’s simply too much switching in between characters. Haha. But if someone requests for me to do it, I’ll do my best and edit the post.

ALSO fun to highlight: Mere seconds before this part of the song starts, Louis was singing about killing Sherlock. But then not even 10 seconds into this song, he sounds so sweet and innocent as he talks to William. I LOVE IT. The duality. (Louis is my icon for a reason.)
