Hi again, I’m Smol, the local writer who writes original works and hopefully fanfiction soon! I’ll see if I can get an ao3 acc that should have been made a long time ago but we’re not looking into that. <- Got an ao3 account but haven't posted anything yet.

This is a safe space for ALL new writers who are dipping their toes into writing, and whether you write fanfiction or original works, my asks or DMs will be open for questions or constructive feedback if you’d like, or maybe if you’d just like to chat, that’s okay too!

Arson and Other Fires

Project Lifebloom dissolves in a flash flood of an investigation that leaves the previously thriving community of Second- and Third-Gen humans — genetically engineered for physical strength and physic abilities, respectively — packed away in prisons and scattered across the universe. On the Project's distant Outer Station, Avram Ashta has just enough advance warning to pack the next generation of young Lifebloom cadets, an eclectic collection of scientists and soldiers, and a weeks' worth of food onto a ship and flee with nothing more than a scrambled message from the Project's director promising that a safe homeland is out there waiting for them, if only they can find it. Five years later, he's left the children memory wiped and hidden on an obscure planet and is holding his increasingly fractious crew together with both hands. And then news comes of the director's arrest, and with it, the first clue in years of the homeland's location. Except this new version of Project Lifebloom is different than he remembers — or maybe not different at all.

Wherefore Art Thou, Caspian?

What happened to Caspian Anno? This is the question plaguing our unnamed protagonist, who wakes one morning to find themself in Caspian's body with no memory of who they are, how they got there, or why everyone seems to be afraid of them. Written in the format of letters to the illusive Caspian, our protagonist struggles with personhood, identity, and the dawning realization that something terrible might have happened to their body's original owner.

City Witches

Ten covens, twenty fighters, thirty matches. Vandion City's underground fighting circuit has grown from a handful of scrappy witches trading spells in someone's garage to an institution in its own right, maintained through subterfuge and bribery. Intro:

For as long as he can remember, Bill Kane has been running from himself. He blames his abusive mother for showing him the wrong side of human nature, or the childhood head injuries he sustained from this same parent, but no amount of blame can negate his urge to kill. With an educated background, he was destined to do decently in life, until he made the mistake to stop running. Now, the hunger to murder festers inside him, and he is very quickly losing the energy to hold back the tide of violence. One small push would surely send him over the edge, into the vortex of insanity.

Hello!

I'm Lee (any pronouns), a middle aged queer writer from the midwest of the US. It's been a bit, so I'm doing another writeblr intro, to find more potential writeblr folks to chat with!

What I write:

- Mostly scifi! I have a bit of fantasy brewing in a collab project, but mostly, scifi.

- Queer stuff. Lots of different types of queerness.

- Community. Both in the group-hugs-and-support variety and the extreme-mess/everybodies-traumas-keep-smashing-into-each-other variety. I have training as a family therapist and am endlessly fascinated by interpersonal dynamics. This is the meat of my work.

- Grounded worldbuilding. My main project right now is near future scifi that diverges from our timeline around 2001. I'm enjoying the hell out of playing the US I know with some very key tweaks that changed society. I know a lot about medical systems, criminal justice systems, and legal systems and like using fantasy and scifi elements to show them as I know them. But like, in a way that should appeal to people who give 0 shits about US institutions.

- Disability stuff. Not that after-school-special shit. I am just tired of characters being generic pretty dolls whose physical attributes don't impact how they move through the world. That means not only writing a variety of different disabilities, but also different bodies. My characters aren't "inspiration porn" or just waiting around for less disabled characters to come save them. They are messy, with a wide array of relationships to their limitations and the things they use to cope with those limitations.

- YA into new adult. Not exclusively, but mostly. I really like taking characters from YA into early adulthood. Not just a standard coming-of-age arc, but the actually moving from a self-concept of a dependent teen into someone with legal responsibility for themselves, jobs, college, etc. Especially when combined with all of the above. I love a nice long character arc with lots of sub-arcs along the way.

What I have out, now.

- I have two books out so far, Secondhand Origin Stories and Names in Their Blood. I'm working on book 3 in that planned 5 book series now, which is currently titled Brittle Idols.

- I have a free monthly newsletter called Shed Letters where I talk about psychology, tech, queerness, storytelling, and the creative process, plus whatever random topic I've been researching for my books recently. Also contains pictures of my three very photogenic cats.

- Newsletter subscribers also have access to a novella I wrote that goes between Secondhand Origin Stories and Names in Their Blood, that's about an fictional AI (the only kind I like) trying to decide on a body for themself.

- I also draw and animate, with my first and still in-progress animation project being a "trailer" for Secondhand Origin Stories.

What I'm looking for

- writeblrs - especially writeblrs that aren't JUST writeblrs. I want to feel like I'm meeting people, at least in some manner, rather than just hearing about a product in process. That doesn't have to mean deep confessions or private information, but honestly I'm not likely to remember you for your writing project alone. Sorry. Please show me what else you care about!

- Bonus points for queer or disabled scifi or fantasy writers.

- I am white for most intents and purposes but I always want to find more AOC who write sci fi.

- Also always excited to meet more YA authors- especially the currently kinda sidelined YA scifi.

- People who care about where society is going but aren't posting that everything is doomed and pointless. I mean you post whatever you want but I don't need that on my dash. That shit is not helping me help.

Intro

Hi everyone! I’ve been scrolling on writeblr for a while now and making a couple of posts, but I realized I never really introduced myself!

My name is Abby, and I have been writing since I was in elementary school. When I was in middle school, my aunt helped me self publish my very first novel after years of working on it, but I quickly fell off the creative writing wagon in high school and college.

In the last year, I’ve gotten back into writing fanfiction, and it’s inspired me to write my first original novel since middle school. I’m currently on the first round of revisions, and I’m actually also on the lookout for beta readers!

My novel is a YA historical fantasy romance with a heavy emphasis on fairy tales and myths. If you’re interested in reading snippets or being a beta reader, feel free to reach out!

Writeblr Intro

Hello all ! I'm Bricky, but you can call me Brick. I'm a fresh young adult, currently in university for medical sciences. I'm an acearo trans man, and since I'm on Tumblr I'm predictably clinically depressed, probably autistic, and have some other mental weirdness of the personality disorder type going on.

I've been here for a while now, but I thought a writeblr intro should be in order as I am very slowly re-organizing my blog.

I mostly write historical fiction, horror, and crime procedurals (all featuring whump), but I often branch out in attempts to try new things. Some of my favourite tropes/themes/subjects include Victorian aesthetics, obsession, social isolation, medical or psychiatric settings, cannibalism, and snakes (hence the dividers). So you know, only the cheeriest of things around here.

My current original WIPs (and their tags) are...

#dear cassedy : a murder mystery set in 1920's Toronto, centred on the area of St John's Ward, which was where most immigrants and impoverished of the time lived. I've been doing a lot of research about the history of marginalized groups in Toronto for this story, and research is like, my favourite part of historical fiction.

#echolalia : a creature feature, featuring the creature, set in a rather nebulous 80s-90s somewhere in Canada. Not quite sure what to do with it, but I'm currently ironing out character concepts.

#spirit phone (title pending) : as the name implies, a story (or series, still not sure) inspired by the album by Lemon Demon. I'm still trying to figure out what it's even about. There's cults and demons involved, that's all I'm certain about.

#psycho-therapy (title pending) : one of the first stories I ever made that I'm now re-working. Likely going to be focused on psychiatric abuse mixed with paranormal horror

#group projects : a general tag for a couple of unnamed stories that are based on random RPs I do with some of my friends. One is vaguely realistic and about a small drug trafficking ring. Another is an urban paranormal setting where monsters and other such creatures are a fact of life.

#writing about injuries : a series of posts about injuries and their effects, aimed primarily at whump authors.

I also write fanfic (predictably). I share them on my AO3, if you'd like to check them out. Some of my fandoms include Cookie Run (CRK/CROB), Psychonauts, Gravity Falls, Sky: Children of the Light, and Hollow Knight. I'm into some other stuff too, but not super interested in writing fic about it. Currently I'm working on...

Writeblr Intro

Hi, I feel like it's finally time for me to do one of these. I've decided to create a side blog entirely dedicated to writing and writeblr so as to keep things orderly.

About me: I'm Eloma and have been dabbling with writing ever since I was a teen. Nothing ever came of it until 2 1/2 years ago when I joined the writing group of two friends. I have now completed the second draft of my first novel-length thing. Besides writing and reading, I love drawing, bg3, and pen and paper role playing games.

So far, I've been a little post-shy when it comes to writeblr (hopefully, this side blog will change that), but I love lurking and seeing other writers ramble about their projects, post writing snippets, gush about their OC's, or share their art. Excitement is contagious!

My Writing

I don't currently have any of my writing shared online (yet!), but I do have two WIPs that I work on and may post about in the future. I enjoy writing fantasy, although not the sword and sorcery type but rather the smaller and more personal stories. Things don't always end well for the characters involved. I'm obsessed with world building, especially anything food or religion.

WIP 1) War In Heaven

Lucifer is just an ordinary office worker, directly employed by the Father himself and seeking happiness through consumerism and an implicitly promised raise. Through meeting a fellow angel, trading with the local squatting population and encountering the first humans, he is thrust into questioning his own position in a deeply classist society. The story is non-religious.

Current stage: 2nd draft complete (it's a mess hihi) Word count: 84k

WIP 2) Memento Morisn't (temporary title)

A young woman in the fictional world of Amberplain is torn between family life in her rural hometown and getting her university education in the big city. A family tragedy and a job offer by one of her teachers put her on a path of no return. Meanwhile a spirit intrigued by such crazy concepts as "physical sensations" and "fun" attempts to sneak their way into the human world for good.

i recently finished a litfic novel called dairy whiskey and am editing it right now, hoping to get it ready for agent submissions in a month or two. i put my heart and soul and blood and bones into it, so if you’d like to dive into the story and read a few excerpts, you can check out the intro here and every other excerpt here!

rock salt is my main wip since finishing dairy whiskey. it is the story of identical twins rain and norah as they move out for college and navigate their lives on their own, which ends up in them growing apart. if you like complicated sibling relationships and the struggles of growing up, you’ll love this book!

i so badly want to start writing it, but i don’t think i’ll be able to until dairy whiskey is in a more secure position. so, there probably won’t be any updates for a few months, but you can read the wip intro here.

this is a gay vignette novel that i started writing back in 2021 as a source of personal joy. this is the story of how a singer-songwriter desperate for normalcy meets a boy with a heart heavy with guilt. this is the story of how they fall in love and it’s honestly quite wholesome <3

i haven’t worked on this book in so long and i’ve been trying to sneak some words in, but it feels like the book needs a fresh start. i don’t know, i just might start it all over again. but until then, here’s an outdated wip intro.

green room is a literary/experimental memoir documenting my teenage years as a writer. it is a deep dive into craft and how it affects life, particularly how it moulds you as a person. i haven’t started drafting this yet, but here’s a wip intro for now.

Hey Writeblr! I'm Wyllo (pronounced like Willow), he/him, I'm a writer who dabbles with art and video making. Mainly, I write fantasy, though I do other types as well. I'm looking for some mutuals, yayyy. To talk writing with and improve. I'm about to ramble about myself so here we go: Age: 17 Interests: Pokemon, Writing (obviously), DnD, art, worldbuilding, Shakespeare, reading, listening to music (indie bands like Arctic Monkeys), and playing Video Games. Favourite Book: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Favourite Movies: Detective Pikachu, The Rock, and A Few Good Men. I have another account which I just post random stuff on but I wanted to make this one to try and improve my writing. I'm currently still in Highschool, and I am going to university next year. So I'm aiming to really improve my writing before going. My main project right now (when school isn't interfering or my procrastination isn't taking hold) is my world Aelyos. Which is your basic fantasy world with lots of other bits and bobs thrown in.

My writing:

☽ - I mostly write in the psychological thriller and dark comedy genres (I wrote so much fantasy as a tween that I now struggle to go back to it ✌︎︎). ☽ - My full-on WIPs usually have psychology as a primary focus. I like to get deep into my characters' mental states, which is why my projects tend to only have 2-3 persistent characters. I am both a novelist and screenwriter. ☽ - My favourite tropes/topics to write about: grey morality, mental illness, personality disorders, autistic experiences, nuances of gender identity, dysfunctional family relations, romantic relationships with atypical dynamics, living after severe trauma, horror overlapping erotica. ☽ - My current main WIP is titled Into The Vortex. ANYWAYS! hello writers of tumblr! cari here. i'm a twenty-something that's working on a million shit at once, BUT i am working! been here quite a while but never did figure out how to do this intro post, so in my mind i have written the perfect one. as always, simulation is quite different from the actual product.

i happen to specialize in stream-of-consciousness posting like THAT is my gig idgaf anymore whatever takes off or not I AM DOING THIS FOR THE LONG HAUL

i encounter stuff all the time like there are multiple posts here of my centipede encounters, sometimes big spiders

i love hyping up fellow writers like in a very bro way (you will not understand this now but i promise you will. later.)

three things about my writing

i love slow burn. even better when they got conflict of interest. ESPECIALLY when their motivations are completely at odds with with each other and now all the little things will add up to big things that blow up in everyone's faces. i'm sure this is like, Conflic Writing 101, but the flavor i aspire is like, controlled doom type of shit. i can't exactly verbalize it rn but we;ll get there. probably like a few novels in

i LOVE three-way/four-way relationships. like, you know what happens when someone likes someone who likes another one and another one likes another one? i like relationships in my stories messy

yes, most of my stuff might be relationship-driven, but i'm well-aware that this stems from my desire to connect. yes, i reflected on this. i'm sure in my bones i got the whole, ' i will grow for myself' type of thing going on irl, but i actually wanna explore that in writing too, as i post stuff on tumblr. i wanna try that again. i hope all of you will share this journey with me.

Into the Gallows [COMPLETED, SIXTY CHAPTERS (I CANT TYPE SIX MY NUMBER SIX IS BROKEN)] - was actually gonna give you the short, IMDB pitch version but you know what, YOLO, i'm gonna give u the whole MEAL

It takes a special kind of assassin to fumble a hit over 20 times, but then again, Aster Mortem has always been one of a kind. In fact, he was so special that he got away with multiple attempts of regicide, and instead of being beheaded, he was allowed to rot in the coldest cells of Serberos until he figured out where he went wrong…or when his target had finally died.

It takes a special kind of target to escape assassination over 20 times, but Emperor Dominique Sibylla was no one special – not at all.

One death sentence later, the assassin meets the emperor in his second chance at life… 22 assassination attempts apart. Now, it’s a race against time to see if history will repeat itself, or if Aster can kill the emperor before he is even crowned.
