With the server moved to 1.20, time for a bit of a revamp!
Back in August of 2022, I built a barn across the river from where the Verdigris Station now stands. A large barn, it hid most of the remaining land on that side of the river from view.
With the addition of camels in the new update, I decided it was time to fix that land issue!
Step 1: Planning
Using Photopea, I made a quick mockup of the project, using it to check with the rest of the Corroded faction to make sure nobody had any plans for the area. Once I had the go-ahead, it was time to get to work!
Step 2: Moving the barn
With the help of my friend @47-protons, the residents of the barn were moved in around an hour, either to temporary pens or a new forever home at someone's base. Taking down the barn took around 40 minutes, using a full beacon to help where it could.
Using Litematica, I'd made a schematic of the barn before demolition that I then used to decide on the final location. I was able to rebuild the barn in about 80 minutes, with some snack breaks.
With the barn in place, I connected the path using a scattering of gravel, andesite, tuff, and packed mud, filling in the rest with some dirt and course dirt.
Step 3: Camels
With the space all cleared and a fence shape decided, it was time for a simple segmented pen, with some shade for the camels to stay cool in the hot sun!
I'd collected 2 camels from thousands of blocks away already and had them sitting in my base, so I simply bred a couple of calves and brought them to Verdigris for breeding. To my delight, they fit in minecarts.
After a couple hours of waiting, breeding, and saddling, the shop had around 20 camels available, each one saddled up and ready to go. I added a barrel and a sign with payment instructions, and announced to the server that the camel shop was up and running!

Ok, the part of the endless stair that I actually designed seems to all be in other than the cave stuff at the very top cause that requires putting in the redstone, and also getting out onto the side of the mountain... neither of which I remotely feel like doing today cause my insomnia means I'm still awake and pretty tired
I'll have to go back over all the schematics once I've got everything in and confirm that I'm not missing a block here or there (I actually found a missing gilded blackstone in a totally other part of the base, so that just shows how easy it is to miss stuff), but then I'll be done
So not bad, having got like 25 layers at a shallow slope designed, and then putting more or less the whole thing in all in one go
Told you this was the easy part
#mm minecraft#some people really seem to get cranky about the idea of using litematica or say it saps their energy having to build it twice#well... that's their business; you know?#but me? I find it way easier having an infinite pallet and then being able to come back in and do it quick#unless it's complex or underwater you can throw together a schematic super fast and easy#and again... it was really the fact I don't have just boxes and boxes of materials that slowed me down the most#also it's all about scale and difficulty if I'm willing to do it outside creative#small caves; sure I don't mind that... heck I forget what; but there was something I actively did in survival#cause for whatever reason it was gonna be quicker and easier to do it that way... forget what#but anything underwater; I refuse; that's being done in creative#anything like the side of a mountain where I'm gonna be falling and can't step back? I refuse#anything very large scale like the underwater cavern? wouldn't have done it even if it wasn't underwater#also it depends on if it's outside my skillset; like the library... absolutely not; especially cause some of those were nuts#the cave off the side of the cartography area? if I hadn't already been doing stuff in creative I wouldn't have minded that#that was a reasonably scoped cave; it's just everything around it was being done on the creative world so it got that too#but yeah... something like this the schematic work is super quick#and the time added building it twice is nothing compared to the time it would take to do it in survival#...in this case largely cause it's a huge stair so hauling all the materials just to have a pseudo creative pallet...#well that would be a pain#the endless stair itself wouldn't be bad to design in survival at all; it's the supplying it that would be rough#anyway though... you see how quick it was#...I'm gonna probably go to bed soon... man... really need to catch up on tumblr

not to be sick on the head on main but as i use litematica myself and get a little fucked up over it i cant help but think of s2 pix having this shit essentially built into his goggles and constantly seeing things that aren't there. constantly covered in scrapes and bruises from stepping onto floors that aren't as stable as they appear or straight up don't exist. stumbling into a wall and bracing for impact before phasing right through it. feeling rain and wondering if there's a leak in the ceiling above him only to remember it's just a projection

i really don't care if hermits (or any minecraft cc really) use tools like litematica and i feel a little sad when they apologize or sound guilty for using it lol.
i've been a fan since season 6-ish but i'm not active in fandom so maybe the criticism is just outside my perspective, but it really doesn't kill the entertainment value for me. if it's pretty, it's pretty! don't care how you made it! it's a sandbox game!
this opinion extends to tools like worldedit and axiom. i don't think they make builds any less beautiful or impressive.

Awesome yctib integration idea, spoilers below. For those unaware, litematica is a mod that creates a ghostly schematic of a build created elsewhere, usually in a creative world. It comes with a list of blocks required for the build, saving people time and energy trying to reference every block from their test worlds and trying to figure out how much of each material they need. Several hermits have used litematica. I love it as well, it is a lifesaver.
Kakashi walks in on Mumbo using his sharingan to cast a genjutsu on True. He promptly freaks out. Everyone is baffled.
Mumbo casting genjutsu is the only way to activate litematica, which is in high demand.
Since Mumbo casts the genjutsu it eats at his chakra reserves, so he can only cast it on a few people at a time and only for a limited amount of time. Cue hermits being confused about Kakashi’s freak out- who doesn’t want access to litematica that passionately? And cue Kakashi’s horrified confusion about the “privilege of being mentally manipulated for multiple days”.
Plan is for Kakashi to reveal his sharingan and be like ‘hey, check it out I can ALSO cast genjutsu!’ except he discovers that can’t quite get this one? For some reason? Which is a problem because if his people want to be under a genjutsu that badly he is NOT trusting Mumbo with them.
More world mechanic stuff! Mumbo offers to cast the “litematica” genjutsu on him since Kakashi mentions in a bout of frustration that experiencing it might help him understand how the genjutsu works, and eventually Kakashi reluctantly accepts Mumbo’s offer since he can’t figure the darn thing out. And at least he can fight back, his siblings can’t.
Cue Kakashi getting a schematic and collecting random materials and building a- something.
My siblings ideas were-
world eater. Kakashi is horrified. It obliterates the earth. Within hours, there is a hole deeper than any other on the planet
Mining drill that goes through a mountain and some unfortunate person’s house/project. The technically inclined hermits become excited, since this world is supposedly round, and refuse to stop it out of curiosity as to if it’ll go into space or come back around the planet.
Some kind of mob farm. This is pure nightmare fuel any way you slice it.
So Kakashi accidentally does a redstone of some kind and is horrified by what he creates. Meanwhile the hermits are like “Oh! Guess we got another redstoner, cool, you’re invited to the planning meetings so we don’t lag out the server, Xisuma can explain the rules in more detail if you have any questions.” Kakashi is excited to be invited to this inner circle, less so that Xisuma might be paying more attention to him. He certainly does not have any questions about the rules.
Etho is a Proud Brother Hen and Doc is planning to adopt kidnap him. Keralis drags Ren to Kakashi and immediately tries to con them into making a tree farm.
Kakashi still can’t cast the litematica genjutsu.
#yctib#hcxnaruto#thoughtful rambles#Sibling stuff#ty sibling for ideas#Feel free to put in more ideas#the normaler in minecraft it is and the more batshit irl the better#I got 3.5 hours of sleep but the next chapter is like halfway done so balanced? As all things should be? I suppose so#And the mods lead back to Xisuma#as all weird things do

A project I'd love to do if I ever have a Good Idea for it is using Litematica as a gameplay element in an adventure map
By which I mean: it is possible to alter Litematica settings such that the schematic render is nearly indistinguishable (except for some lighting idiosyncrasies) from actual blocks (I have a tutorial for that here).
I'm fascinated by the concept of using a tool that many people treat as uncreative or a way to 'cheat' at survival building into something that is actively hostile to survival players. There's the obvious idea of pit traps and unseen ledges, but you can also do things like hide wood or some needed material inside a schematic block - the only way to know what block is actually there is to break it. Using this for a less rage-inducing mechanic, hiding materials in floor schematic blocks would necessitate paying attention to footstep noise changes, emphasizing observation rather than "break everything uou see like it's a Kinder egg" lol.
Imo it's a concept that would work best on Peaceful or as primarily a puzzle- something themed on secrets and hidden things and not trusting your eyes :D
#this was inspired by the excellent post by megabuild about s2 pix's relationship to litematica#which made me remember OH YEAH i want to do a map based on fucked up litematica#well. ideally i want someone else to make a map based on fucked up litematica settings bc i have too many other side projects#but it is On The List if no one else gets there first xD#salem tag

Hi guys im still alive
I've been playing every videogame ever while chipping away at a massive mountain build, its a bit hard to show with pictures (32 chunks rd isnt enough to show it from one side.)
Info on how im building it below
I've already designed the entire mountain using Worldpainter and Axiom (worldedit on steroids) made a massive schematic of that design using Litematica, however, its so big it causes constant lag spikes while loaded, so i cut it up into 9 sections.
its 636 by 636 blocks in area, although i left out some stuff on the sides to have it blend better with the existing terrain. other than that it reaches world height.
"thats fucking insane!! how can you ever build that in a normal amount of time!" I CANT not normally at least. Im cheating by using litematicas easy place, if you dont know what that is. Imagine you have a blueprint of a build, and when you hold right click, it almost instantly places each of the blocks that are currently in your crosshair correctly. I literally just have to stock up material, walk around, and hold right click.
Although even with that it might take a couple months xd
#:( i didnt think this would take too long#but it will#all good tho#i signed up for this#and its gonna look so sick#minecraft hardcore#minecraft#mchc#mineblr

This damn cave....
The game giveth and the game taketh away
#logging off for the night#not even gonna try and get my stuff back. i came prepared to die this time. i may have died but i only lost#my armor my sword and the torches i was using to light the cave up. and all of that was stuff id cobbled together from iron armor dropped#by the zombos at my inefficient exp farm#a badly enchanted sword. and the food id been trying to heal with#so like. i went in prepped to perish#this is the same cave i kept dying to the other day because its got like 12 different levels to it#i swear im good at video games guys#now if only litematica can get updated so i can build the thing i want to buildddd#rip me for accidentally updating my world to 1.20.6#the same day i finally got all my components together to build this thing

I llike how you do your communicators in your fic. I think it's fun that in stark contrast to yours mine are as capable as a flipphone. Like on mine you can text and play snake if you are LUCKY.
Brb gotta edit in them having snake playing capabilities just so Jimmy doesn’t go insane waiting 18 hours for his bro and admin to show up snjdjdh
To be fair! Most people cannot use them to their full potential. Like, even people who can use them for what irl would be worldedit commands or litematica or cosmetic mods are nowhere NEAR full potential. Admins like fWhip and Xisuma and even Grian are far more advanced just by virtue of the control they have over players’ code as well as the aforementioned irl modpacks but like. Okay I’m never going to find a way to put this into the fic itself because there’s just not going to be that much around comms re: playerhood but you literally cannot be a player without a comm in Hesperides. Hang on I gotta get on my laptop for this I can’t type fast enough in splints on my phone
#also hello what fic are you writing I would like to read it 👀👀#the hesperides series#ask the author#<- ask tag!#actual reason for me to not give the comms games: it would delay tango from building do2#and I REALLY need him to build do2

I recently got a new gaming laptop, so i was able to try out minecraft java for the first time with 30fps (Previously it was 5fps...). I downloaded a couple good mods for building and decided to test out what i could make.
So here's the Shrine of Mysteries from DQ7:

This was a fun little test using:
Worldpainter, Worldedit, Xaero's World/Mini map, Litematica, and Controllify (For using an xbox controller to build).
Past the mountains is the rest of Estard Isle. I'm going to try to make the other locations on the island, and i'll decide from there wether this should become it's own project or not.

tales from my friend group hanging out in the s9 world download together:
we of course immediately created our own decked out lobby upstairs, to run our own decked out tournament
our local ethogirl refused to move up there, instead camping out next to etho's cubby
so i did the obvious thing to lure him upstairs. did you know the central bit of etho's s7 base fits surprisingly perfectly in this gap in the citadel interior?
in other litematica-using news, our local tango expert decided that the decked out tower that cub stole does NOT belong in a museum actually
another thing i think is fun. we're using carpet mod to have a bot load in the map -- but the way carpet mod works, you have to pick a real minecraft account to be your bot (so then the bot shows up with that person's name and skin). we of course chose tango's account. he can never escape the dungeon
