11. What are you currently listening to?

If youre asking which podcast I'm bingeing at the moment, I'm currently listening to Harbor (idk if they're on here) and I'm enjoying it immensely. I also listen to a number of others as they update, like Hello From the Hallowoods ( @hellofromthehallowoods my favorite podcast, tagged in a previous ask as well, sorry about that), Midnight Burger (idk if theyre on here either lol), and The Amelia Project (they ARE on here @ameliapodcast )

19. Which podcast do you think would make a great TTRPG book?

Hm. My knee-jerk reaction is to say Hello From the Hallowoods because I want that to be the answer for a lot of things but I'm not sure. It would be interesting for sheer number of options in character creation but tbh I don't like the idea of a lot of fighting and killing in that universe. I mean, its a harsh setting for the folks who live there but idk it feels vulgar somehow. I may be off base there.

Maybe Valence ( @valencepod I think?) because it involves people with magic powers that are often elemental and i think always focused on a particular theme or area. Learning to use them in different ways is also a part of the show that would work well with level scaling. That would be for a more typical kind of ttrpg.

I might think on this more lmao.

23. Why do you like audio drama as a medium?

I like it because I have adhd and it helps to have something like this to help me with executive dysfunction. Additionally, I don't have to pay attention to a screen so I don't feel like I'm missing anything. It's also really convenient for me because I can listen to them at work because my job is fairly mindless and it means that I can focus on the stories im listening to more. I love stories and I don't read as often as I wish I did so this is perfect for me.

@valencepod is an urban fantasy show following magic user Liam, who after years of running from his family, who were instrumental in the invention and popularisation of wearable devices that suppress magic, is recruited to help investigate them.

We are loving @valencepod- besides the themes of found family, mental health, and breaking cycles of abuse, VALENCE is an impeccably made show. The acting, the writing- all of it is stellar. The characters are so nuanced, believable, and easy to fall in love with.

The team bring the futuristic-fantasy city of New Candler to wondrous life with the sound design, making for a world that feels tangible and lived-in, and the effects for the magic are consistently- well, magical! You really do not want to miss out on this show.

okay, so I'm getting ready to launch the Small Victories Season 2 Crowdfunding campaign at the top of next year and as I did my research (by the by, The Sheridan Tapes is in the homestretch for their campaign and Apollyon is a couple weeks away from being in the homestretch of theirs) I saw a bunch of super cool videos on other crowdfunding pages detailing their campaigns.

@re-dracula (fully funded) had this very aesthetically pleasing minimalist one that had the cast detailing the perks as well as the story and things like that.

@valencepod (fundraising now closed) had a trailer for what you're getting in season 3.

@gatherthesuspectspod is text focused which I thought was super cool! Plus it uses their show graphics.

The Sheridan Tapes had some excerpts and then Trevor, a writer/producer, came on to talk about it in a very kayfabe way (very much in line with the tone of the show).

So, I don't like being on camera (which means the pitch it myself style is off the table) and recording will happen after the campaign (which means the season trailer style is off the table), so I had to get creative.

I enjoy kinetic typography videos and I've always thought they were a good method to promote AD since they are word focused, take advantage of audio, and are easily able to convey tone and style.

All that to say, I'm storyboarding the fundraising video which we recorded last week with Mo. Fingers crossed I have enough time to make it turn out well.
