you can sense him before he even walks in, a familiar presence that warms the space around you. his smile is faint, like he’s trying to show you he’s happy to see you but can’t quite hold it together.

“can i…?” he asks, his voice barely above a whisper as he sinks down beside you. the way he leans into your side is both desperate and sweet, as if he’s trying to melt into you, wanting nothing more than to be as close to you as possible.

“of course,” you reply softly, draping an arm around him. it’s a simple gesture, but it draws him in, melting away some of that heavy gloom. he nuzzles closer, his head tucked under your chin, and you can feel the weight of his world pressing against you.

“why are you so clingy today?” you tease gently, running your fingers through his messy hair.

“shut up,” he mumbles, a hint of a pout gracing his lips. “i just want to be near you, okay?” his voice is muffled against your shirt as he playfully tugs at the hem, fingers brushing against the lace, a small smile peeking through his frustration.

you can’t help but chuckle because, as clingy as he is, there’s something undeniably endearing about how he seeks comfort in you. you plant a soft kiss on his forehead, and he sighs contentedly, eyes fluttering shut for just a moment. then, with a slight grin, he wipes the dampness off on your shirt, rubbing his forehead against the fabric, and you roll your eyes, trying to hide your amusement.

and yet, his clinginess isn’t just about needing comfort. on days like this, he’s a whirlwind of contradictions. one moment, he’s silent, drifting off in thought, and the next, he’s playfully poking at your sides, a cheeky grin lighting up his face as he tries to coax a laugh out of you. “come on, don’t be boring!”

“percy, you’re the one who’s being insufferable,” you laugh, trying to wriggle away, but he huffs in playful indignation, easily pulling you back into his warm embrace. he mimics your whines, the sound making you giggle despite yourself.

you can’t help but smile, because even when he’s overwhelming, you know it’s just his way of asking for help. so you stay there, tangled together, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat against yours.

“just hold me for a bit, okay?” he murmurs, his voice softer now, eyes fluttering closed as he sinks deeper into you.
