Note
Do you think "power creep" in MTG (and TCGs in general) is inevitable over time, or is it a result of the profit motive/drive to make the game bigger over time? Like, in a hypothetical world where every MTG player received a full playset of every newly released card for free (and the designers were all compensated regardless of how well-received the set is), do you think we would still see "strictly better" versions of contemporaneously powerful cards like Savannah Lions or Vampire Nighthawk?
That's not how we define "power creep", but let me answer what I think you're asking. A trading card game will continually make cards that are better than pre-existing cards. Sometimes that will increase the overall power level of the game, sometimes it won't.
It depends on how much play that particular card sees. If it's not being played a lot, making a better version often won't have any impact on the larger environment. The new version has to be playable in the current metagame.

Top Gun Maverick Characters as Animals!
(that either i have personally worked with or people i know have worked with) (with explanations for each choice)
Part 1 with Top Gun (1986) Characters here
Bernie "Hondo" Coleman - Timber Rattlesnake: A very docile species overall, preferring to retreat or hide when faced with a threat. However, when provoked they are capable of delivering a bite with powerful venom (either neurotoxic, hemorrhagic, or a combination of both).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw - Red Fox: Very clever and capable of learning from their experiences, they are also a very playful species that are known to attempt to play with larger animals that could pose a threat to them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Natasha "Phoenix" Trace - Mongoose Lemur: The females of this species are dominant over the males and they are a relatively peaceful species. They, like most lemurs, are incredibly social and live in groups with small home ranges that often overlap with other groups.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Robert "Bob" Floyd - Meerkat: Cooperative and supportive, they live in large family groups. They appear to be shy, skittish, and quiet, but when they feel safe they are incredibly social and appear to have intricate emotions. (My picture from Frankfurt Zoo in Germany!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Javy "Coyote" Machado - American Alligator: Incredibly intelligent and capable of learning their name, voices, and commands, they are very misunderstood as being aggressive and dangerous. They are actually very calm and relatively docile animals (my picture from a trip to Florida).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jake "Hangman" Seresin - Thick-tailed Bushbaby/Greater Galago: While they can be moody and solitary, they are prone to becoming anxious and irritable without consistent interaction with other bushbabies. They also are curious and very intelligent as many primates are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reuben "Payback" Fitch - Speckled King Snake: Born resistant to venom, they are one of the few snakes that will prey on venomous snakes including rattlesnakes. However, they are very calm snakes that don't often strike at people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mickey "Fanboy" Garcia - American Bison: While they can appear calm and docile, they are very dangerous when provoked. They are very social and thrive in large herds where they are capable of fighting off packs of wolves and other large predators.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Logan "Yale" Lee - Coachwhip: Incredibly fast, these snakes are not aggressive but instead will use their speed to get away from threats moving upwards of 10 mph! Unlike many snakes that rely on venom or constriction for hunting and defense, the coachwhip will hold its prey - or predator - in its mouth and whip their head side to side to tear flesh, and they will use rocks to kill their prey by slamming it into them repeatedly (very cool to watch, not so cool to have happen to your hand <- said from experience).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brigham "Harvard" Lennox - Takin: Very agile and graceful despite their appearances, these large animals are able to move around their mountainous environment with more ease than almost any others. They are very protective of each other, and are very curious creatures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Neil "Omaha" Vikander - Antillean Nighthawk: Not much is known about this species, but they are incredibly agile fliers and have been seen flying almost erratically while hunting - including dramatic dives and swoops.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Callie "Halo" Bassett - American Crocodile: The only species of crocodilian known to reproduce through parthenogenesis, making them the largest species known to use that method of reproduction! They are very intelligent and deadly predators that have been known to adapt their strategies if they are unsuccessful in a hunt.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Billy "Fritz" Avalone - Water Deer: A mainly solitary species, and the males are highly territorial. Their large fangs earned them the nickname of "vampire deer" and many people assume they are dangerous or a threat, but they are not carnivorous. Those fangs are instead used for fights with other water deer!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beau "Cyclone" Simpson - Great White Shark: One of the most intelligent and curious shark species, and one of the most notorious species of the ocean. They are known to use different hunting strategies depending on the prey they are hunting, and they almost always are able to outsmart their prey. However, they are also very peaceful sharks when not hunting, and media commonly misrepresents them as bloodthirsty when they are just trying to survive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Solomon "Warlock" Bates - Kodiak Bear: Despite being the largest subspecies of brown bears (and the second largest bear alive today with the largest being the polar bear), these bears are among the least aggressive of all brown bears. They will gather in large groups due to the availability of food and have been observed to use "language" and have complex social structures to avoid fights between the usually solitary bears (it's theorized that they even express their feelings to avoid conflict).

Back to the NPMD x Monster High AU, a couple more things:
I would like to rescind my Werecat Brenda in favor of Nighthawk Harpy Brenda. Yes, I know I made Kyle a werewolf to parallel Brenda being a werecat but I also have a better offer for Kyle too: Yeti, which is why he still holds a grudge against Max for wrecking his dad’s ski-doo.
I have so many thoughts on Vampire Grace. She was born a normie and is a recently turned vampire (maybe even a vampire hunter that failed on an outing and was turned by her prey). She’s having trouble coping with her religion now that she’s a monster and constantly wears turtlenecks like the one she wears in Perky’s Buds to cover up her bite marks. She tried still wearing her cross necklace as a show of rejecting this new form, trying to embrace the pain of having the cross so close because she thought that loving Jesus even when she’s a form of half-demon would make herself better than other Christians, but it hurt way too badly for her to handle so now she just says she wears it underneath her sweater. Jason was born a vampire and wants to help her through her dysphoria but Grace won’t accept anyone treating her like she’s a vampire (even though she is). She does like the part about eating flesh and drinking blood- it’s what Jesus says to do with himself, so in a way, she’s making everyone she eats a little more Christ-like. That’s her thought process, at least. She also still pretends to be human around her parents and normie best friend Gabe. Gabe may or may not know that she’s a vampire though and wants to seduce her so she can turn him too.
In High School is Killing Me, the lyric is now changed to “Fuck you, biteology.”
Max’s Jekyll form is human (Max), but his Hyde form looks like his ghost (The Jagerman).
Stachie is soooo canon because Richie loves swimming but as a werecat Stacy refuses to get in the water and they feel like their romance is especially forbidden because of it. If Richie didn’t love the water so much, he’d wish he was a werecat too because he also wants to be a pretty little kitty meow meow
Ethan, Lex, and Hannah also went there obviously and Ethan was a ghost á la Jonny Spirit and Lex and Hannah are both spider people. You know tf why lol
Ruth is a lot like Frankie Stein in that she flirts with a lot of people but they Do. Not. Flirt. Back. Rather than solid stripes, her sweater looks more like lightning bolts and the mushroom design is a little creepier than just an Amanita.
A lot of the smoke club are also nighthawk harpies (because they like eating the weed) (including Deb) and so a lot of people assume Brenda is also in the smoke club. She isn’t. Monster high typical speciesism mixed with Hatchetfield High typical bullying regardless of social hierarchy.
The Woodwards are flytraps and that’s why Alice doesn’t smoke- plants don’t do that to other plants. This is often a point of contention between Deb and Alice even though they try to pretend it isn’t an issue
Steph’s secretly embarrassed about her decay so she always makes sure her wraps are FRESH, but the rest of her outfit is always her jagged hand-cut crop tops and ripped jeans. Her decay spread to her scalp and forehead and everyone knows better than to say something about the wraps on her forehead or how she always wears a beanie but Pete accidentally tells her he thinks it makes her look even cooler. Swooning ensues because nobody dares address her flaws, much less say she’s cooler for having them.
Steph secretly wishes Pete had a corporeal form because her love language is physical touch and she’s sad she’ll never be able to hold him. (Kind of like how Cleo is sad she’ll never get to look Deuce in the eyes).
Sophia/Spitfire as a background character fire elemental is a MUST.
The janitor is a crazy man who lives in the catacombs under the school and is possessed by what the student body can only assume is a goat demon and Peter Geist feels weirdly like he knows him.
Rosary as Claire Rosary as Claire Rosary as Claire-
Pete has also died recently as one of The Jagerman’s attacks when he was out of control, and he’s new to the school along with Grace. He’s stuck in this dorky outfit he wore so he wouldn’t get bullied and can never change clothes, but at least he’s impossible to punch unless if another spirit tried to attack him. As opposed to Grace in life, he was very interested in the supernatural (one of his special interests) so he knows quite a bit about monster types but is always hungry to learn more about the new world he found himself un-living in

Cornwall's Random Card of the Day #1143: Vampire Nighthawk
Tumblr media
Ugh. THIS guy.
Vampire Nighthawk is an uncommon from Worldwake, seen here in its Modern Horizons 2017 printing. At the time of printing it was just EGREGIOUSLY over the power curve. Like, sure, it costs 3, it's only a 2/3 and requires two black mana, but BOY is a flying lifelinker that can ALSO kill any creature in combat just EXACTLY what you would want at any point in the game. If you're winning or at parity, it helps create a massive life gap in your favour which cannot be bridged. If you're behind, it's WORST application, it blocks and kills the opponent's best attacker while gaining you 2 life.
If you ever had to play against this thing in a game where your life total isn't insanely high to start with, you'd understand just how much of a problem this little uncommon can be. And that's JUST on its own, no +1/+1 counters, no tribal synergies, nothing that activates off of doing damage to opponents, no equipments or auras, NOTHING.
It's not even the power I object to, it's just the fact that it's...so straightforward. So universally applicable. Any black deck can just take one of these in an it'll probably be better for it, especially in casual decks where you just don't have access to every rare and optimal synergistic pick you can think of. And being uncommon, anyone can kind of just have a near-infinite amount of em, so expect to see these a LOT in casual. I don't much care for it, is my point.

Restaurant AU Masterlist
A Date with Death (ao3) - ashes0909 steve/tony E, 61k
Summary: When True Blood hit the market, and vampires came out of hiding, Steve thought nothing of it. He bought a case for his restaurant and left it to gather dust in the cellar. But then someone started killing his waitstaff and neighbors, and Steve had to investigate.
In the middle of it all, he was still trying to understand why it suddenly seemed like every vampire in town wanted to ask him out on a date, including the enthralling and influential Tony Stark.
after hours (ao3) - brideofquiet steve/bucky E, 7k
Summary: None of it’s exactly how Bucky pictured working for a chef he’s admired since he was a teenager, from the food style to the fucking—but he likes it. Wouldn’t trade it.
And You Find Out All The Pieces (ao3) - smc_27 darcy/steve T, 7k
Summary: She checks out his ass as he climbs up into the shiny black truck sitting out there in the morning sun, does some mental math and figures he just pushed her over $70 in tips this shift.
Thank you, eye candy.
But I Know My Luck Too Well (ao3) - mothmanfucker666 frank/matt G, 2k
Summary: Frank can't help but be fascinated every time Matt Murdock comes into his restaurant.
Watching each of the poor guy's dates is like watching a trainwreck in slow motion.
Claws and Cannolis (ao3) - Kryptaria, zooeyscigar steve/bucky T, 22k
Summary: Cats. Can't live with them, can't let them live without you. Is it possible to be an unwitting partner in a cat timeshare? Not without meeting the other person who has stolen her heart...
Or, the fic whose working title was Catbutt.
Feeding the Soul (ao3) - scifigrl47 steve/tony T, 3k
Summary: The problem with running a restaurant is that restaurants are open on holidays.
It's been a long day and a longer night and Tony just wants to go home.
how many corners do i have to turn? (how many times do i have to learn?) (ao3) - empathyhoodie agatha/rio E, 26k
Summary: “So you’re demoting me?”
“Uh, I don’t think you were actually ever promoted.”
“Technically.”
“Agatha, you have to earn a promotion.”
Agatha wets her lips, leans in close. Rio’s eyes track the movement before she has time to realize, and she has nowhere to go, back pressed against the many tins of chopped tomatoes on the shelf. She tries to keep a neutral expression. Unfazed. Possibly unsuccessfully.
“So I’ll earn it.”
OR
Rio inherits her aunt's restaurant. Agatha makes the whole thing much more stressful than it should be.
Kiss the Cook (ao3) - mambo steve/bucky, peggy/angie, maria/sam T, 28k
Summary: Former Top Chef contestant Steve Rogers opens a restaurant with his best friend, Sam Wilson.
And everything is great, except for Steve’s giant crush on their new bartender.
Lemon Meringue Lies (ao3) - Nejinee steve/bucky E, 111k
Summary: Being a server at a high-end restaurant is working out well for Steve. All he has to do now is convince Bucky he’s good enough to work as chef in the same restaurant. Steve’s determined to prove to his best friend that all Bucky’s talent and passion for food is worth something.
He’s going to make it happen, even if he has to omit a few solid truths to get it done.
Meanwhile, Bucky has his own issues to deal with. Namely: trying his damndest to dig them out of poverty, make sure Steve’s health is on the up and up, and not acknowledging his very longstanding desire for his best friend that is slowly eating him up inside.
A story about food, compassion and stubborn idiots in love.
Nighthawks (ao3) - mambo steve/bucky M, 9k
Summary: Bucky's working the graveyard shift at the diner when some tiny guy in Doc Martens walks in and orders a strawberry milkshake.
Open Up the Door That's Shut (We Make Our Own Luck) (ao3) - starknjarvis steve/bucky, bucky/steve/tony M, 16k
Summary: After coming back from the war, Steve and Bucky open a diner together in Brooklyn. They're scraping by just trying to keep the business and each other together when Tony Stark stumbles through their front door.
Ricochet (ao3) - greenbergsays steve/bucky T, 2k
Summary: Bucky Barnes has been a patron of Ricochet since it opened. Steve Rogers, the owner and head chef, has had a crush on him nearly as long.
Routine (ao3) - Miss_read bucky/darcy N/R, 11k
Summary: She's the most beautiful thing he's ever seen, and he's the cleanest person she's ever seen in her diner.
{AU in which Darcy is a waitress at night and Jane's assistant during the day. Based on my own little headcanon of a crossover between 2 broke girls and Avengers because I just love Kat Dennings.}
Safe and (the) Sound (ao3) - 27dragons, tisfan bucky/tony, steve/natasha E, 84k
Summary: Tony dropped out of college to get away from his abusive father. When his longtime boyfriend reveals similar tendencies, Tony refuses to endure another moment of it, running away with nothing more than the cash in his pockets. He makes it to Virginia, where he's taken in by Bucky, a restaurant owner looking for an extra hand who's willing to be paid cash under the table.
Bucky's been struggling for years: to keep the beachside restaurant he inherited from his parents above water (both financially and literally); to live down the fact that he's gay in a small southern town; to get over the man who's owned his heart since he was fourteen. But he's never had to struggle as hard as he is now, to keep his hands off Tony.
Safe Harbor [A Safe and (the) Sound Remix] (ao3) - weethreequarter bucky/tony E, 114k
Summary: When Bucky’s husband turns out to be the same brand of asshole as his foster brother, Bucky refuses to become anyone else’s punching bag and runs with nothing more than the clothes on his back. He ends up in Maine, where he’s taken in by Wanda, co-owner of a restaurant who’s willing to pay him cash in hand.
Tony likes to pretend he’s doing fine but the truth is he’s been struggling for years. Struggling to help Wanda keep the restaurant she inherited afloat, struggling to put the one-that-got-away behind him, struggling to get over too many losses in too short a time. But his biggest struggle of all is resisting Bucky.

In MEMORY of RUTGER HAUER on his BIRTHDAY - (January 23, 1944 - July 19, 2019)
Career years: 1969 - his death
Born Rutger Oelsen Hauer, Dutch actor. In 1999, he was named by the Dutch public as the Best Dutch Actor of the Century.
Hauer's career began in 1969 with the title role in the Dutch television series Floris and surged with his leading role in Turkish Delight (1973), which in 1999 was named the Best Dutch Film of the Century. After gaining international recognition with Soldier of Orange (1977) and Spetters (1980), he moved into American films such as Nighthawks (1981) and Blade Runner (1982), starring in the latter as self-aware replicant Roy Batty. His performance in Blade Runner led to roles in The Osterman Weekend (1983), Ladyhawke (1985), The Hitcher (1986), The Legend of the Holy Drinker (1988), and Blind Fury (1989), among other films.
From the 1990s on, Hauer moved into low-budget films, and supporting roles in major films like Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992), Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002), Batman Begins (2005), Sin City (2005), and The Rite (2011). Hauer also became well known for his work in commercials. Towards the end of his career, he made a return to Dutch cinema, and won the 2012 Rembrandt Award for Best Actor in recognition of his lead role in The Heineken Kidnapping (2011).
Hauer supported environmentalist causes and was a member of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. He also founded the Rutger Hauer Starfish Association, an AIDS awareness organization. He was made a knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion in 2013.
Early life -
Hauer was born in Breukelen, in the Province of Utrecht, while the Netherlands was under German occupation during World War II. He stated in a 1981 interview, "I was born in the middle of the war, and I think for that reason I have deep roots in pacifism. Violence frightens me." His parents were Teunke (née Mellema) and Arend Hauer, both actors who operated an acting school in nearby Amsterdam. He had three sisters. According to Hauer, his parents were more interested in their art than their children. He did not have a close relationship with his father, and writer Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema later became a father figure to Hauer after they met during the filming of Soldier of Orange.
Hauer attended a Rudolf Steiner school, as his parents wanted him to develop his creativity. At the age of 15, he left school to join the Dutch merchant navy. He spent a year travelling the world aboard a freighter, but was unable to become a captain due to his colourblindness. Returning home, he worked odd jobs while finishing his high school diploma at night. He then entered the Academy for Theater and Dance in Amsterdam for acting classes, but soon dropped out to join the Royal Netherlands Army. He received training as a combat medic, but left the service after a few months as he opposed the use of deadly weapons. He subsequently returned to acting school and graduated in 1967.
Career:
Early works -
Hauer had his first acting role at the age of 11, as Eurysakes in the play Ajax. After graduating from the Academy for Theater and Dance, he became a stage actor with the Toneelgroep Noorder Compagnie. Hauer made his screen debut in 1969 when Paul Verhoeven cast him in the lead role of the television series Floris, a Dutch medieval action drama. The role made him famous in his native country, and Hauer reprised his role for the 1975 German remake Floris von Rosemund.
Hauer's career changed course when Verhoeven cast him in Turkish Delight (1973), which received an Oscar nomination for best foreign-language film. The film found box office favour abroad and at home, and Hauer looked to appear in more international films. Within two years, Hauer made his English-language debut in the British film The Wilby Conspiracy (1975). Set in South Africa, the film was an action-drama with a focus on apartheid. Hauer's supporting role, however, was barely noticed in Hollywood, and he returned to Dutch films for several years. During this period, he made Katie Tippel (1975) and worked again with Verhoeven on Soldier of Orange (1977), and Spetters (1980). These two films paired Hauer with fellow Dutch actor Jeroen Krabbé. At the 1981 Netherlands Film Festival, Hauer received the Golden Calf for Best Actor for his overall body of work.
American breakthrough -
Hauer made his American debut in the Sylvester Stallone film Nighthawks (1981) as a psychopathic and cold-blooded terrorist named Wulfgar. With his sights set on a long-term career in Hollywood, Hauer worked with an accent coach in the early 1980s to develop a convincing American accent. Unafraid of controversial roles, he portrayed Albert Speer in the 1982 American Broadcasting Company production Inside the Third Reich. The same year, Hauer appeared in arguably his most famous and acclaimed role as the eccentric and violent but sympathetic antihero Roy Batty in Ridley Scott's 1982 science fiction thriller Blade Runner, in which he delivered the famous tears in rain monologue. Hauer composed parts of the monologue the evening prior to filming, "cutting away swathes of the original script before adding the speech’s poignant final line". He went on to play the adventurer courting Theresa Russell in Eureka (1983), investigative reporter opposite John Hurt in The Osterman Weekend (1983), hardened mercenary Martin in Flesh & Blood (1985), and knight paired with Michelle Pfeiffer in Ladyhawke (1985).
He appeared in The Hitcher (1986), in which he played a mysterious hitchhiker tormenting a lone motorist and murdering anyone in his way. He received the 1987 Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the television film Escape from Sobibor. At the height of Hauer's fame, he was set to be cast as RoboCop (1987), but Verhoeven, the film's director, considered his frame as too large to move comfortably in the character's suit. Also in 1987, Hauer starred as Nick Randall in Wanted: Dead or Alive as the descendant of the character played by Steve McQueen in the television series of the same name.
In 1988, he played a homeless man in Ermanno Olmi's The Legend of the Holy Drinker. This performance won Hauer the Best Actor award at the 1989 Seattle International Film Festival. Hauer was chosen to portray a blind martial artist superhero in Phillip Noyce's action film Blind Fury (1989). He initially struggled with the implausibility of the character, but learned to "unfocus my eyes, to react to smells and sounds" after meeting with blind judo practitioner Lynn Manning during his research for the role. Hauer returned to science fiction in 1989 with The Blood of Heroes, in which he played a gladiator in a post-apocalyptic world.
Commercials and later roles -
By the 1990s, Hauer was well known for his humorous Guinness commercials as well as his screen roles, which had increasingly involved low-budget films, such as Split Second (1992); The Beans of Egypt, Maine (1994); Omega Doom (1996) and New World Disorder (1999). In 1992, he appeared in the horror-comedy film Buffy the Vampire Slayer as the main antagonist vampire Lothos. He also appeared in the Kylie Minogue music video "On a Night Like This" (2000). During this time, Hauer acted in several British, Canadian and American television productions, including Amelia Earhart: The Final Flight (1994) as Earhart's navigator Fred Noonan, Fatherland (1994), Hostile Waters (1997), The Call of the Wild: Dog of the Yukon (1997), Merlin (1998), The 10th Kingdom (2000), Smallville (2003), Alias (2003), and Salem's Lot (2004).
Hauer played an assassin in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2003), a villainous cardinal with influential power in Sin City (2005) and a devious corporate executive running Wayne Enterprises in Batman Begins (2005). Also in 2005, he played the title role in Patrick Lussier's film Dracula III: Legacy. Seven years later, he portrayed the vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing in Dario Argento's Dracula 3D. Hauer hosted the British reality television documentary Shock Treatment in 2005, and featured in Goal II: Living the Dream (2007) as Real Madrid coach Rudi Van der Merwe. He also recorded voice-overs for the British advertising campaign for the Danish butter brand Lurpak.
In 2008, Hauer received the Golden Calf Culture Prize for his contributions to Dutch cinema. The award recognised his work as an actor as well as his efforts to aid the development of young filmmakers and actors, through initiatives such as the Rutger Hauer Film Factory. In 2009, his role in avant-garde filmmaker Cyrus Frisch's Dazzle received positive reviews; it was described in Dutch press as "the most relevant Dutch film of the year". The same year, Hauer starred in the title role of Barbarossa, an Italian film directed by Renzo Martinelli. In April 2010, he was cast in the live action adaptation of the short and fictitious Grindhouse trailer Hobo with a Shotgun (2011). Hauer played Freddie Heineken in The Heineken Kidnapping (2011), for which he received the 2012 Rembrandt Award for Best Actor. Also in 2011, Hauer appeared in the supernatural horror film The Rite as an undertaker named Istvan, the protagonist's father.
From 2013 to 2014, Hauer featured as Niall Brigant in HBO's True Blood. In 2015, he starred as Ravn in The Last Kingdom and as Kingsley in Galavant. In 2016, he joined the film jury for ShortCutz Amsterdam, an annual film festival promoting short films in Amsterdam. Hauer voiced the role of Daniel Lazarski in the 2017 video game Observer, set in post-apocalyptic Poland. Lazarski is a member of a special elite police unit that can hack into minds and interact with memories within. Hauer also provided the voice of Xehanort in the 2019 video game Kingdom Hearts III, replacing the late Leonard Nimoy and was himself replaced by Christopher Lloyd following his death.
Personal life -
Hauer was married twice:
Hauer and his first wife, Heidi Merz, produced Hauer’s only child, Aysha Hauer (born 1966). An actress, she gave birth to Hauer's grandson in 1987.
Hauer was with his second wife, Ineke ten Cate, from 1968, and they married in a private ceremony on 22 November 1985. Cate was the daughter of Laurens ten Cate, the editor-in-chief of the Friesland-based newspaper Leeuwarder Courant.
Although born in Utrecht, Hauer had strong links to Friesland. He once stated in an interview with the Algemeen Dagblad that he "needed to feel the Frisian clay under his feet".
Hauer was an environmentalist. He supported the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and was a member of its board of advisors. He also established an AIDS awareness organization called the Rutger Hauer Starfish Association.
In April 2007, he published his autobiography, All Those Moments: Stories of Heroes, Villains, Replicants, and Blade Runners (co-written with Patrick Quinlan), in which he discussed many of his acting roles. Proceeds from the book go to the Rutger Hauer Starfish Association.
Death -
Hauer died at his home in Beetsterzwaag, following a short illness. He was 75 years old. A private funeral service was held on 24 July. On 23 January 2020, which would have been Hauer's 76th birthday, a ceremony was held in Beetsterzwaag in his honour. Attendees included Sharon Stone, Miranda Richardson, Diederik van Rooijen, and Prince Pieter-Christiaan of Orange-Nassau, van Vollenhoven.

P6 Idea : The Masculine Boy
I mentioned the roles of the athlete and the advisor before, but this time I’m going to talk about the character who have a strong image and are very masculine.
Tumblr media
His appearance is that of a strong, blond European male. His personality has elements of Ryuji, Akihiko, Kanji and Eikichi from the previous games, especially the part where Eikichi likes music.
During battles, he uses a electric guitar as a melee weapon and a bazooka as a ranged weapon.
His Arcana is Hope derived from the Visconti-Sforza Tarot. Her persona combines the 3 elements of "rock music", "airplane" and "winged animal".
Tumblr media
Initial Persona - Wakinyan, the thunderbird god in Lakota mythology - Heavy metal music + Thunderbolt II + Haast's eagle
Tumblr media
Initial Persona - Jatayu, the vulture who fights alongside Rama in Hindu mythology - Punk rock + Avro Lancaster + teratornis
Tumblr media
Initial Persona - Camazotz, the bat god of death in Mayan mythology - Gothic rock + Lockheed Nighthawk + vampire bat
Ultimate Persona - Ziz, the titanic flying bird alongside Behemoth and Leviathan in Jewish mythology - Combine Laputa from Gulliver's Travels with pelagornis, the biggest flying bird

😈 🌍
🌍place: Ugh, it's hard to pick just one... favorite place to visit that I can do frequently without spending a lot of money is the big cemetery near me. It's great for nature-watching and it's weird enough that it's usually not crowded unlike the park (which tends to have cooler wildlife but also families trying to enjoy a nice day). Unfortunately now it closes early because it gets dark early so I got locked in there a few times looking for nighthawks. 🥴
If I could instantly teleport to a place I've previously been RIGHT NOW though it'd be Tokyo, I'm missing it so bad Monty :'( But maybe I'm also missing not having to go to work and being able to buy hot drinks from vending machines, lol.
😈meow meow: Listen. LISTEN. I went into bg3 expecting to hate the vampire elf twink. So many of my friends hated him, he seemed like the annoying tumblr sexyman du jour and vampires are so mid 2000's Annelise. But... dammit, he won me over with his stupid scene where he laments not having a reflection and you tell him how he looks >:'( Fans who tried to paint him as some edgy daddy dom did him so bad, he's a wet abused cat of a man who is genuinely delighted to be in a relationship where he's allowed to make his own choices and not exist just for sexual gratification. YES he can be a stinky garbage man sometimes but also he is my poor little meow meow, I am making him kiss my funny nerd tiefling one hundred times, mwah
