Self Awareness AU - Prologue

You huffed as you placed your controller, playing this game each day has gotten boring, Especially when there’s no to little update to the game. When it does updates it’s only bugs fixes or some features getting removed.

With a disappointed sigh, you closed steam and opened google to watch youtube. You searched the general if there’s any interesting video that would catch your attention. One for your favorite youtuber catches your interest and instantly you click on it.

You groan in displeasure as an ad starts playing, with no other choice you decide to wait for the five seconds for the skip ad button. The ad starts playing and.. It instantly catches your attention. The quality of the game and the voice acting intrigued you. Especially this one character with an ice cream cone for a hat having that magical girl transformation.

You went on deep research about the game, seeing what it will bring to the table. You watch a few videos about the story and it’s interesting enough and well written. You were so hyped when you found out the game is available on PC you went and download it, so you won’t force your phone to die more for the game.

You instantly download it, and once installed you open the app for another download. Typical. You happily waited for it and were super hyped about the intro animation. You played on, already loving the characters, oh how you favor Gingerbrave!

You played everyday, not missing a single day! Heck you even began trying to draw in the unique artstyle, even as you never draw in your entire life. Each time you gacha, you prayed on getting either an ancient or a beast. And either would be good for your team. As of current you favor Strawberry Crepe Cookie for their amazing defense and skill.

On a particular day as you log in, everything feels.. Different. The front loading screen felt odd. You brush it off and log in the game, doing your missions and creating stuff you need for the laboratory research. One of the cookies, Affogato Cookie, has a speech bubble. You clicked on it expecting the usual repeating dialogue but this time it’s different. “My, My you look quite lovely.”

Ok. A bit creepy but okay.. Maybe that’s just a new dialogue the game added? But there’s no small update requirement from the game, odd. You paid no mind to it as it’s a regular occurrence. Sometimes the cookies would have a self awareness dialogue.

You continued on playing the game with no more weird occurrences, just the normal game. You speed run through the cryspia story already passing the hollyberry kingdom. You kept on losing in the dark choco chapter so you decide to just gather up your power first before continuing.

The sound of your alarm snapped you out of your game run. Glancing at the time you realized it’s already time for one of your online classes. You closed the game, going to your kingdom one last time just to be met by Gingerbrave saying; “Pure Vanilla Cookie would love to know how radiant you are!”

You paused, staring at the screen with a shiver under your skin. You brush it off and log out the game to open your class in session group. For 30 minutes you listen to the professor explain about today’s lesson. Suddenly the sound of your phone notification caught your attention, you were about to pick up before it started to shake.

You gasped, watching as a blue hand reached out from your phone. “What-”

“TA-DA! The star of the show has arrived!~”

The hand clenched the edge of the table, using it to leverage the infamous of a Diva jester pulled himself out. “Wooow.. quite a lovely place of living you got here, need a little more blue for color though. But you won't be needing to change things since you're coming with me.”

You stare with your mouth gape open. Meeting with a powerful jester was NOT on your list today.

“What? Cat got your tongue? Ooh don’t be afraid dear, I don’t bite, unless..”

“NOPE-” You grabbed the nearest item which was your notebook and threw it at him, he barely dodged it. He frowned before smirking again as he tilted his head with his hands clasped together, placing his cheek against the back of his hand.

“Adorable attempt, dear. But you gotta do more than tha-”

A pen smacked square on his face, He stares at you, unphased “That..” he continued. “Your humble knight has arrived to bring you home!~”

“Home!?” The jester laughed, “don't fret, I don't bite.. too hard!” He grabbed your shirt and yanked you towards your phone.

Everything was.. black, no light as you stared at the abyss before a sudden flash of colors blinded you. The birds chirp to one another as they fly above you. The light from the sun blinded your vision a bit before you adjusted. You glance around, noticing your surroundings.. are odd.

Everything smells so sweet. Too sweet for your liking.

The sounds of leaves rustling snapped you out of your daze, your attention instantly went towards the bushes. Looking around, spotting one that's moving.

Stepping a bit back away from the bushes you stayed quite, not daring to make noise and startled the.. whatever it was in the bush and attacked you. Carefully you picked up a nearby stick as a weapon, if it would do anything.

Something pounces out the bushes scaring you as you leap back and fall on your back. It barks as it approaches you and sniffs the air. You opened your eyes seeing it was just a cake hound.

Dark Cacao Cookie didn’t know how long it had been. How long it had been since he had slept, how long it had been since he had eaten, how long it had been since he had left his chamber, how long it had been since he had seen daylight.. or nightlight, for that matter.

It didn’t matter to him. What did matter was the breach in the defense lines near the Southern border, where Dark Cacao Warriors fought day and night to keep the Licorice Monsters away.

A breach in defense meant disaster, especially in a kingdom where danger waited to strike behind every corner. It also meant Dark Cacao locked himself into the war room for several days, creating new strategies to fend off the fiends plaguing the kingdom.

The king himself had returned from a battle with the foul beasts a few days back, and had ended up injured in the process. He hadn’t notified anyone, lest they think their leader wasn’t capable of defending himself.

Files and reports were scattered over the large table, fallen ink pots, scrolls and quills covering the table. The king himself was pacing around the work surface with his hands behind his back, a distracted look in his sunken eyes. They were underlined with dark circles, a clear indication of a lack of sleep.

Unfortunately for him, Dark Cacao’s son was not stupid.. not in the slightest.

A knock on the door was ignored - or perhaps not perceived? - as Dark Cacao’s feet acted for his mind. The persistent walking was slowly forming a circle in the carpet. Dark Cacao’s eyes were unfocused.

The door was gently pushed open, but the boy that entered looked a little less soft.

“Father,” Dark Choco said.

Dark Cacao replied with nothing but a noncommittal hum.

“Father,” Dark Choco repeated, louder this time.

The prince stepped forward, grabbing his father and king by the shoulders to stop his walking. This worked to shake him out of his daze.. this might not have been as positive as Dark Choco hoped.

“Unhand me,” Dark Cacao hissed, his eyes narrowing to dangerous slits.

When Dark Choco didn’t listen, Dark Cacao tried to angrily shake himself loose. When did his son get so strong? When did he get so weak?!

“Let go of me right this instant, boy!” Dark Cacao said, his voice low with fury.

“This is for your own bestwill, father,” Dark Choco murmured.

It hurt the young prince to see his father, the man who he greatly looked up to, in such a state. Frustrated because he wasn’t energised, and even more frustrated when his body was weaker with the lack of energy.

Dark Cacao, of course, saw weakness as a point that needed to be sharpened; more training on top of his work. Very, very unhealthy and very, very disapproved of by nine out of ten of your trusted healers.

Dark Cacao growled lowly as he felt his movements get slower, his eyes dulling as he was forced to stay still.

“Dark Choco,” Dark Cacao tried to push away once more, and failed just the same, “Let me go, please. As your king and father, unhand me. I have no time for your games!”

“Father.. listen to me. Listen to yourself! What if it had been me in your position? Would you have forced me to continue working?” Dark Choco said, putting the king in a comfortable chair with slight force.

A small glint of uncertainty shone in Dark Cacao’s eyes. Of course he wouldn’t have.

“That doesn’t matter!” Dark Cacao argued strongly. “You’re not in my position! You should know better than to defy my orders like this.. now let me get up-”

“No. If you don’t stop struggling right this instant, I will not hesitate to contact Pure Vanilla Cookie,” Dark Choco said.

“Don’t you dare.”

“Why?” Dark Choco’s good eye glinted mischievously. “Afraid he’ll make you sleep on the couch again?”

“I am not- he never made me do that!” Dark Cacao protested unconvincingly.

“Of course..” Dark Choco allowed himself a small chuckle, before continuing, "Has he looked at your wounds yet?”

“I have no idea what you are referring to.”

“Father..” Dark Choco shot Dark Cacao a strict look. “Have your wounds been treated yet?”

“My wounds were not severe-” Dark Cacao cut himself off with a small grimace. The constant pacing had done little to no good to his injuries.

“Father, for the sake of the witches!” Dark Choco sighed desperately. “For one so dead set on having every warrior fixed up after battle, you sure don’t take as good care of yourself as you should..”

Dark Cacao fixed him with a glance. “Mind your manners.”

Dark Choco turned his back to his father, walking towards the door to notify Pure Vanilla (Father to Dark Choco, husband to Dark Cacao) of his father’s untreated injuries, but not before muttering a small “Mind yourself..”

Dark Cacao pretended he did not hear.

When I write down my ideas I like to stay true to the character’s nature and not deviate from their established characteristics. I do not like to engage in material that doesn’t make sense for their character to not hinder my vision, so I always re-read canon conversations and events on YouTube.

For a character to experience jealousy, their feelings may root from personal insecurity or closeted worry from being abandoned. I take Pure Vanilla Cookie as experiencing symptoms of an inferiority complex; where one may feel less important, or not as good as others. I think it’s reasonable to say that, due to the events of the Dark Flour War, Pure Vanilla thinks less of himself from the standpoint of a ruler and a friend. However, he does not let his insecurity define him despite his harsh self-criticism because he is kind, gentle and good-humoured.

Despite his temperament and strong, authoritative will, I don’t take Dark Cacao to be insecure, but more regretful on his approach to being a father. He is haunted by the chances he didn’t take with his son, and burdens the blame of responsibility for Dark Choco’s actions.

If I were to assign jealousy to either character, I don’t think Pure Vanilla would be sly, conniving or petty towards another Cookie for courting Dark Cacao. What matters most in his heart is the wellbeing and happiness of his Cookies, so I am firm on my judgement that he would remain light-hearted of the news and disinterested in trying to sabotage the King’s happiness, even if it means concealing his feelings. As for Dark Cacao, he exhibits a strong temperament at times that ignites within the spark of conflict or disagreement. Although, I don’t think he’d surge into battle and wave his sword around to see Pure Vanilla being flirted with. Realistically, I see him holding his tongue and awaiting to hear news from Pure Vanilla, wishing his earnest wishes through an upheld, stoic manner. Although, deep within his chambers of the Citadel, his chest would grumble and shake with a deep sigh. He knows better than to dawdle in paltry affairs.

Although, if they were in an established courtship, I doubt that Pure Vanilla would experience feelings of insecurity or concern for his husband to waver his loyalty. It seems completely against Dark Cacao’s character to partake in infidelity, so while he may be subjected to romantic prospects Pure Vanilla doesn’t need to worry. Perhaps, if he still exhibits traits from his mischievous school-days, he’ll prompt a hearty joke or two, and laugh gently to ease the air. As for Dark Cacao, I envision him furrowing a confused brow upon seeing another Cookie’s boldness towards Pure Vanilla, and before he can step forward, he’s assured by his love’s kind, and adamant rejection. Again and again, Pure Vanilla demonstrates his utmost reliability and devotion to preserving Dark Cacao’s loyalty.

COOKIEKIND. the first headmaster, a mystery figure older than the ancients who's broadly known for his aesthetic association with milk products, blueberries, eye symbolism, and the moon, is basically described in PLAIN TEXT to be the PROGENITOR of magic PERIOD in this sentence. So that all being said this portal is 100% just a hole into the Other-realm. Right. regardless of the What, i'm more or less completely convinced that during her attempt to steal the first headmaster's soul she crossed paths in some nonzero capacity with shadow milk AGES before she ended up in the silver kingdom. maybe she didn't even do anything precisely wrong herself with this procedure? I must make this short story!!!!!!!! And thanks to the newest episode, I have an idea~!

*The scene is set a long time ago in a open green field. Sheep grazed about and three little children played around them. Watching from a hill above was a small slim Cookie holding a baby and a shepherd's crook.*

Shepherd: *calls out to the children* Don't go too far out little ones! We'll need to get going soon if we're going to see Grandma off!

Eldest Son: *yells back* Okay Mama! *Looks at his younger sister* Okay! Let's just play Bap the Sheep!

Middle Daughter: *shake her head* No way! We always do that when Mama wants us to stay close! Let's play hide and seek instead!

Eldest Son: No! We need to stay close! Bap the Sheep!

Middle Daughter: Hide and seek!

Eldest Son: What about you Pure-huh? *Looks to his left but see nothing but sheep* Pure Vanillas Cookie?!

*The second youngest son, a young Pure Vanilla Cookie ran across the field, chasing a sheep. He giggled as he chased after it.*

Young Pure Vanilla Cookie: Wait for me Sheepie! *Giggles*

Sheep: Baaaaa!

*As they ran, they reached closer to the dark forest. Once they reached the edge of the forest, the sheep turned around and tilted its head at Young Pure Vanilla.*

Sheep: Baaaaaaaaa!

Young Pure Vanilla: That was a good game! But I need to go back. Mama will be worried.

Sheep: Baaaaaaaaa! *Stomps its hoof*

Young Pure Vanilla: Huh?

*The sheep's eyes opened to reveal two different shades of blue eyes. Young Pure Vanilla gasped in wonder.*

Young Pure Vanilla: Your eyes! They're so pretty! Just like Papa's!

Sheep???: Baaaa?

Young Pure Vanilla: I don't remember much about Papa. He left before my baby brother, Custard Cookie, was born. But I remembered that Papa had two different blue eyes! One darker than the other!

Sheep???:....

Young Pure Vanilla: And Mama said that I'm the closest to having his eyes. But I have Mama's yellow eye instead of Papa's dark blue eye. I wish I had Papa's dark blue eye sometimes. But...*sadly smiles* Mama would get sad.

Sheep???: Baa?

Young Pure Vanilla: Mama really loved Papa and she was crying after Custard Cookie was born. She always look at this pretty blue necklace Papa gave her and she would start crying. She would always say "Why did you leave me, my jester?"

Sheep???: ....

Young Pure Vanilla: But I'm sure if I take you to her, she'll be happy! She'll remember Papa! Do you want to come with me?

Sheep???: Baaaa! *walks closer to Young Pure Vanilla and raised its head toward him*

Young Pure Vanilla: *giggles and reaches a hand out to the sheep*

*Just as Young Pure Vanilla was about to touch the sheep's head, a frosting barrier appeared between them. The sheep stomped its hooves in anger. Young Pure Vanilla turned around to see his mama, the Shepard, and his grandmother.*

Shepherd: Pure Vanilla!!! *Quickly picks him up and takes him away*

Grandmother: Are you okay? *Looks at the sheep. Her face twist with anger.* You stay away from him!

Sheep???: *In a lower tone* BAAAAAA! *Runs into the forest*

Grandmother: *turns toward Young Pure Vanilla* Are you okay? Did that monster touch you?

Young Pure Vanilla: I'm fine. But why did you scare that sheep away? It had Papa's eyes.

*Both older Cookies froze and looked at each other. The Shepherd could feel her heart dropping.*

Shepherd: Mother-

Grandmother: Take the children and go South.

Shepherd: Mother-!

Grandmother: He knows you are here and I can only protect you and the young ones so much.

Shepherd: There has to be another way. Maybe First Choco Cookie can protect us-

Grandmother: Her power is not strong enough against the Beasts. My dear, you need to go.

Shepherd: *tears in her eyes* This is our home! We can't just leave!

*The grandmother sighs before pulling both her daughter and grandson into a hug.*

Grandmother: He will stop at nothing to get you and the children. You saw what he did to the castle. This is for your own protection. *Pulls away from the hug* I will slow him down as much as I can. Now go.

Shepherd: ... *Tears start to fall* Goodbye mother.

Grandmother: *holding tears back* Goodbye, French Vanilla Cookie.

*The Shepherd, holding Young Pure Vanilla close, turned and ran back into the fields. From far inside the forest, the sheep was watching the scene. It transformed into a slim blue Cookie with two mismatched blue eyes.*

Shadow Milk: My, my, my. Trying to keep my family away from me. No matter, I do like to play this game of Keep away. Makes it so much more satisfying when I win. *Chuckles a bit* You cannot keep me away from my heir, First Cream Cookie.

*Shadow Milk laughs again as he fades into the darkness.*

■ Did Dark Cacao talk to White Lily about having another child/children with her, what White Lily's reaction and what's their conversation, and did DC threaten White Lily about doing something bad, especially to Dark Choco (like getting back him in the kingdom and punishing him)?

■ Do Golden Cheese (and Hollyberry) like to dress up White Lily in different kinds of outfits and jewelry like a doll, and what happened if White Lily tries to decline?

■ If Pure Vanilla had enough of White Lily, no having a child with him and having no patient, or declining every affection he did what happened, and its events (I'm sorry for dark question)

■ When White Lily is pregnant, what are her weirdest cravings, and did the "lovers" think her cravings are cute or weird ?

■ Did one time White Lily tries to hide from the "lovers" because something happens, if so what happened to her that makes her hide and do the "lovers" tries to find her and do something to her ?

■ [I know it is impossible, especially to White Lily's part] What will happen if White Lily just gave up thinking about her freedom, just accept the "lovers" affection and being with them forever [ I know is impossible...or it is?]

■ What's White Lily's nightly routines, and it is different in each Kingdom?

■ What is most watch shows on their TV and who watches the most ?

■ What happened after the conversation of DC and WL (when WL knows DC shouted MF), did they talk about when WL calmed down, or DC gave an apology and gave her some gifts as apologies especially to MF, and did she do the same thing to DC?

Early Awakening Au
