The situation at Al-Shifa Hospital complex continues deteriorating drastically. Multiple sources report that dozens of displaced people, patients, and medical staff have been murdered by the occupation, and hundreds have been kidnapped. People are being strip-searched, interrogated, violated, forced to stand naked in the cold, and some are then kidnapped and taken to an unknown location. Others are forced to evacuate, many still at least partly naked. Some are allowed back inside the cramped buildings.

There are still hundreds or even thousands of patients, displaced people, and medical staff trapped in Al-Shifa. They have been herded into buildings and are shot by snipers if they move. There are fires throughout the complex, indicated by massive pillars of smoke that are filling buildings and making it difficult for people to breathe.

In addition to attacking the hospital complex, the IOF have attacked neighborhood homes by bombing, shelling, and shooting into them. Dozens of injured people have made calls to the Red Crescent emergency service in desperate need of rescue, but the occupation refuses to allow any medical or humanitarian entity (Palestinian or international) into the area. Local resident Emmy Shaheen and her family are under attack in their apartment building by the IOF right now, and her brother has been injured. Videos made by her will be uploaded in other posts, but in the the mean time you can view them here.

Some reports say the Special Surgery Building, housing the most advanced medical equipment in the Gaza Strip, has been demolished with people still inside. Groups like the Red Crescent are begging the occupation to allow them in to treat the wounded, but the occupation refuses.

Australia is planning on banning under 16s from using social media.

So so many reasons this is a stupid idea but the main one is actually, counter-intuitively, ppl's online safety.

Grown ups know how to cross the road safely because they are taught as children. They get to practice with parental supervision when they're kids.

You keep kids off social media then give them unlimited access at 16 and they'll have no frame of reference, no supervision, no working knowledge of how to fact check etc. If you actually want ppl to be safe online, make it part of education.

When discussing Animal Farm in English, talk about how to analyse ideas that sound good but actually result in inequality in practice and then pull up some questionable tweets.

When teaching kids how to research for their next essay, give them a fb rant and show them how to verify the info.

And then whoever is teaching them about personal responsibility should introduce them to tag blocking on tumblr. Show them how to curate their own experience.

please please please don't send random strangers pictures of your legal documents over discord. like. please. and ESPECIALLY do not censor the information in a photo editor of any kind. like just Don't send anyone pictures of your id etc in general but if you feel like the world is gonna end if you don't then PLEASE censor it physically (put something on the document to block personal info) a lot of editing stuff can be fucked with to make text below visible!!

but just please god i see discords that have over a hundred members and require a legal document for age verification. it's genuinely scaring me a little. DO NOT SEND A COMPLETE STRANGER A PICTURE OF YOUR ID OR OTHER IDENTIFYING DOCUMENTS NO MATTER HOW MUCH OF IT IS OBSCURED. NO ONE WHO WANTS A PICTURE OF YOUR ID HAS YOUR BEST INTEREST IN MIND. at best they are people who don't really understand data security or privacy and won't take what they're doing seriously enough to protect your id. and at WORST they're people looking to use or sell your personal information. a potential cool discord server is not worth it (& the verification itself is an extreme red flag for the amount of control the mods in a server like that want to exert on you)
