Could u make critter versions of Chonny Jash and HMS (Heart, Mind, and Soul)
Tumblr media
Here's what I had in mind as a doodle
Technical, HMS are not humans, so they're already considered critters
But I suppose maybe they can be a cerberus like creature as one (probably an Incarnate or Turned critter) and they all fuse together as one human which is Chonny himself
Edit: I drew a colored version

I found a Chonny Jash fan in the wild :33 (it's you? I saw We're Gonna Win on the Plural Playlist™
anyways is Chonny Jash (specifically the album CCCC Volume 1) plural?
Chonny in general? Officially, no. HMS? Why do you think they're on the playlist three times

Hi triad i just felt like letting you know this:
Finding you(and @/jaggybot3000) in my activity like twice shocked me becuz i love your/yalls arts so so much like youre also one of my biggest inspirations in this fandom dkdjjsjdjs. Really i love your artstyle, its so scrumptious to look at.
Im also gonna take this an opportunity to ask,,, do you have a cccc lore planned out in your head/written? Idk if this has been asked before—if it did i havent seen it... just curious, i like seeing different people's interps
hi hi!!! this honestly means so much <:} thank you!!! you're a very talented artist and you deserve to have your art seen, I'm happy to be able to share it ^_^ keep up the great work!!! (also Jaggy mention yesss. I love Jaggy's art too YAY)
also I do, in a way! I don't post about it as much since I like to express it through art instead… and I haven't been able to draw as much lately due to lack of time :'D and I also don't want people to confuse it with my personal interpretation of the album or my analyses of the album itself… I try to keep my personal 'verse' of the album (aka how I lay out the 'lore' into an actual more tangible storyline in my head) and my personal interpretation of the album (aka what I think the album is trying to say) separate… I try not to conflate the two, though my interpretation of the album does inform my verse, but not the other way around. I hope that makes sense :P
I don't have eeeverything figured out as far as events go, so I'm not going to mention every story beat, however I will mention certain stray concepts for some major events. I'll talk about it more under the cut for anyone who's curious ^_^ (WARNING: huge walls of text)
so first thing, in my personal 'verse' the story isn't a literal timeloop… (sorry timeloop fans). however it still is very much a 'cycle' of sorts. since the album's message of mental health being a cycle in itself with its ups and downs is extremely meaningful (and a core theme really) so while I don't see it a literal timeloop, I do incorporate it in a slightly different way!
one thing I'd like to explain, is that a few of the story beats / events only have happened once, rather than them being something that repeats every cycle. this is the case for my interpretation of the shot in RoE (different from the song RoE in the album… I'll explain in a minute) and Heart blinding himself. while some other story beats (pretty much the rest of cacophony) do happen every cycle, but they never happen in the exact same way. there's some variation here and there. some events happen earlier or sometime later, sometimes cacophony lasts slightly longer or slightly shorter… etc etc. also HMS generally remember the previous cycles.
so I'd like to start with the shot in RoE first. I actually think the shot happened before all the other events in the album. (this is due to the line in Mucka Blucka – 'but when he finally shot at me, lines once solid were blurred') and while I don't consider it the source of the dissonance itself (I imagine the dissonance started brewing even earlier, which slowly leads up to the shot) I do think it's the cause of the actual split / HMS seeing eachother as distinct parts rather than one single person. I don't talk about it a lot, but I do think of the shot as an actual suicide attempt rather than a literal attack. (I mean… it's very much what Mucka Blucka implies, after all) BUT, I do think that each of HMS remember the shot differently. Mind, of course, remembers it as an actual murder attempt on him, with Heart as the aggressor Heart remembers it as something done in self-defense, with Mind as the initial aggressor only Soul remembers it for what it actually was (a suicide attempt) I see it this way because I think the ensuing miscommunication would give some sense to each character being like that... they wouldn't be able to make peace with what happened until concord, where they're able to forgive eachother / themselves, only for the lingering, resentful feelings to spring up during cacophony again.
(also this should be obvious by now but of course this isn't me assuming anything about CJ's life or anything. this is me taking what's said in the album itself to form a fictionalized story in my head. I do very much hope this is straight up obvious, but I just don't want anyone to get the wrong idea or anything… orz...)
and of course after the shot, the cycle of calamity/cacophony/concord that we already familiar with begins. I always think that, once they re-split at the beginning of each cycle, the ensuing cacophony starts gradually, since Never Meant to Know and Spring and a Storm feel a lot like a 'calm before the storm' kind of thing to me, while cacophony peaks at TME/TSE/The Bidding.
now, as for the aforementioned repeating events...
I really really like to think of Spring and a Storm (and subsequently, Storm and a Spring) as something that happens each cycle... I imagine during Spring and a Storm, Soul goes outside and sits on a grassy hill somewhere until it starts to rain. Soul remains there, until Mind comes looking for him to bring him back home. I always imagine it's Mind specifically due to the existence of StaaS. in my head I've played around a lot with the idea of them having a chat under the rain, until Mind finally convinces him to come back inside. (I even have an unfinished comic about it... the unfinished comics curse...) I do imagine the talks they have during it are different in each cycle, but usually they tend to be Soul trying to remain optimistic despite him knowing what's coming, and Mind not really understanding why he's optimistic, completely unable to see things the way Soul does. <- this train of thought will come back once I get to StaaS in a bit lol
as for RoE, since I imagine the shot is something that has already happened a long time ago, what I think happens in RoE (as in, the actual song) is Mind and Heart remembering said incident, and being stuck in that mindset where they feel like they're reliving it all over again. I imagine the shot would have been very traumatic for them both (and Soul too, of course), so it'd make sense to me if the memory of it comes back to haunt them every cycle whenever tension starts up again. I think of the lyrics themselves as sort of the difference of how they cope about it? with Heart excusing himself and trying to make sense of the consequences he has (or, had) to face. while Mind... well, Mind is being Mind about it. he laughs about it as if it doesn't affect him at all, yet is adamant about how Heart should be facing the consequences for what he did. still, despite the differing attitudes from them both, I do think it would affect them both negatively equally.
after that follows Apathy, which I have a very specific perspective of (I actually have so many comic ideas regarding Apathy but... I hate drawing comics... :'D)
I don't really see Apathy as a literal hole that Heart falls into (though the imagery of unknowingly digging your own grave really is so cool… sighs…). instead I really like the concept of Apathy taking place in what would be Heart's room. usually just a normal, albeit messy room; but the moment Apathy starts, it becomes this long, dark, completely pitch black tunnel with seemingly no end. I have the idea of Soul going in to look for Heart, despite knowing how easy it would be to get lost in there. a majority of the time in results in nothing really, as even when he does find him, Heart is completely unmoving and non-cooperative with him. Soul tries his best to get him out of Apathy, but Heart doesn't really care about what happens to him at that point, and completely dismisses Soul. and even if Soul tries to physically drag him out it just makes matters worse. eventually, Soul stops going in to look for him. Mind tends to have an easier time traversing through Apathy – his light clearing up the darkness around him. but of course, Heart isn't really ever happy to see him, and if he's already uncooperative with Soul then he's even worse with Mind, who's way of helping things is really just berating and verbally lashing out at him until Heart does something. (which of course, makes Heart want to cooperate with him even less.)
(also fun fact, this post is meant to imply they're both physically in Apathy, hence the pitch black background and white light around Mind's head. yayyy)
I imagine Heart starts to get out of Apathy around Storm and a Spring; its effects would still linger on him of course, but he's far more responsive than he was before. he goes outside for once, where it's raining and Mind joins him, and they have a conversation that mirrors whichever conversation Soul and Mind had earlier in the cycle. however, Mind twists Soul's overall hopeful words into another chance to berate Heart. that being said, considering Mind's breakdown at the end of StaaS, I imagine he doesn't quite 'win' at the end of their ensuing conversation. which would lead to Mind deciding to just dismiss Heart in TME.
... admittedly I haven't figured out how I'd lay out the next story beats... so that's all I can mention for now! :'D I will say I always imagine it's during TME / TSE where the conceptuals come into play, but that's not a hard rule by any means and just a concept I like to play around with sometimes, haha. I do have a bigger post planned regarding my conceptual and semi-conceptual designs that I just haven't gotten around to finishing due to lack of time :'D but they do play a pretty big role in how cacophony plays out in my verse!
also sort of a late addendum, but I really like the idea of the first cycle being vastly different from each subsequent one... (it's also the cycle where I think Heart blinds himself, the effect of it lasting each subsequent cycle). I imagine that, due to the shot having practically just happened, tensions are very high and as a result they treat eachother differently compared to later cycles, most noticeable with Heart and Mind towards Soul. buuut I may just make a different post exploring that concept because I have... a lot of thoughts regarding it... and this post is long enough as it is, haha. I'm also attached to the idea of HMS becoming closer as the cycles go on rather than growing distant. I feel at first they feel like they don't really know eachother... seeing eachother as almost like strangers stuck in their own body, and then, after so many cycles, they feel they know eachother a lot better and generally feel safer around the other, especially when closer to concord. and while it's never perfect, they can maybe manage to reach harmony and stability easier compared to earlier cycles, perhaps as a sign of healing after such a long time... yaaay <- if it wasn't obvious by now the overall message of healing in the album is super important to me. it's the reason I love concord art so much <:}
so yeah I think that's all I can mention about for now as I haven't figured out everything haha. apologies that this is super long-winded (and perhaps confusing?). a lot of this is subject to change since my interpretations are never set in stone, I prefer to let my interpretation change freely as I notice more details in the album and such and explore different possibilities on what certain things mean :} I think it's fun doing it that way!
(oh and thank you for asking! this was super fun to answer as I don't get many chances to talk about this stuff LOL)

you know what. Whole
oh i feared this .
for first impression i have to admit . i Did Not Like That Guy . long story short i thought in my early CCCC days that he was a complete nothing sandwich by nature of not truly being a character . & i did not care for the idea of Making him into a character . i also generally didn’t care about the concord section of the timeline for this same reason . sorry harmonia SORRY !!!!!!! over time however . since soul was certainly my favorite & since i think that its relationship with wholeness is one of the most interesting pieces of its characterization i inevitably ran into more interpretations of whole that i was endeared by . & then i was enlightened & realized that he is so Cute & lovely & i like him so much . my favorite piece of roadkill
favorite moment ….. i like at the end of special when he gets to duet with soul lots… it makes me cry often . i also get really fucked up about his verse in light
idea for a story . mygod. i will be so forreal i have written pages upon pages of soul&whole dialogue that will probably never see the light of day . i just think a lot about them meeting i guess i shan't clarify further
this may qualify more as a headcanon but . perhaps unpopular opinion that doubles as really funny & really really sad is that i do not think the love interest Actually ever rejected him funnily enough . x2 i don't think he ever Actually confessed . i truly believe that he just had a crush on this person and then got So fucking scared that he had a mental nosedive for 27 songs .insane
favorite relationship . glances at previous answers . glances at basically all of the art i have recently done . well this is a hard one but i’d have to say soul&whole . if i ever make them act normal about each other there is something seriously wrong with me & i need to be Killed with Rocks >^-^<
headcanon is hard to answer since like 90% of his character is headcanons .... i am only thinking of ones related to the love interest right now ? i rarely draw this because i just forget [reasonably sure i have never Posted art featuring this] but ithink whole has parts of his hair bleached which love interest did forhim :-] friends
this got so long im so sorry i really like whole

CCCC Vol.1 - Cacophony: entering the lore (1/5)
Hello and welcome back to my analysis of CCCC.
Do you see that little beautiful number in the title? Well, the Cacophony act is long, I couldn’t fit an entire analysis into one single post. It would’ve been endless, Mucka Blucka alone took this entire first post!
So you will get the full analysis in manageable pieces and I will introduce each piece with a brief recap, so we won’t miss anything ;)
A brief recap of what we got from the Calamity act:
The events are stuck in a time loop, caused by the clash between Heart and Mind
Chonny starts to show his frustration regarding writing songs others already wrote
Soul is introduced and the poor guy is so tired of everything (from Heart and Mind to the loop), to ponder suicide. But in the end, he finds the strength to give it another try. Maybe things will be different this time.
<- Previous post - First post
_______________________________
Mucka Blucka (Intro to Cacophony): welcome to the lore
"I decided to do the ENTIRETY of MMMM, and it’d be very, very funny if the dumb chicken song was the most verbose in the album." (Chonny’s Q&A)
Well, it is funny that the stupid song got the honor of being not just the most verbose of the album, but also the introduction to the lore and the preview of what will come.
*
A clear vision: Chonny makes it clear from the very first verses that:
We will see his struggles, pain and dark thoughts  (“My blood, my sweat, my open doors”, as he will say in Taken for a Ride)
The songs are full of metaphors
There is a time loop ("So when we come back here again, and the start becomes an end/Consider this lamentation a foreword")
*
Awareness of the time loop: In Dream, Soul showed us he’s aware of the loop. Now Heart and Mind show the same awareness.
This confirms the point I previously made about all sides knowing the same stuff Chonny knows. No delay of information, here
This justifies Soul’s frustration even more. He knows they should come back into one and yet, the other two sides still haven’t learned a single thing after so many loops
*
The loop as a punishment: while talking about the loop, Heart and Mind say that they are “condemned” to repeat it.
From one side, none of them is taking the blame. It’s as if it’s not their fault, but the fault of something outside of them. Maybe an event that influenced them.
From a meta perspective, it’s very poetic/tragic, because Heart and Mind are condemned to clash every time, because of their contrasting natures. Because, as Chonny said in the Q&A, they’re parts of the same being and yet, they “can produce completely separate and juxtaposed conclusions from a single input”. So it’s not specifically their fault the loop happened: it’s because they are built this way.
*
Wanting and refusing the audience: Chonny wants an audience that listens to him, but at the same time, he acknowledges his audience isn’t able to understand his work:
Who will refuse to properly see The man behind the lines The triplicated rhymes
And later on, he says his audience cannot help him either.
This all anticipates and connects to Greener. In that song too, Chonny will show the same apparent contradiction - it will also be explained better, so for now, I’ll just point out how Chonny shows the same consistent vision.
(But yes, this thought is understandable. Every artist wants an audience, even if they’re not the main reason why art is made. Art is an artist’s need first and that’s particularly true in Chonny’s case. But we’ll talk about that in the Concord act.)
*
The current leader: First Soul wants to introduce us to their “poultric pullet commander”, then Mind immediately follows, by saying: “The coward in question? By now, you know him so well”.
And since we will soon learn that Mind doesn’t have a high consideration of Heart, we can safely deduce that yes, the current leader is Heart. And yes, this makes sense in the overall narrative.
*
Heart: Sisyphus, hate, the despited
Heart is Sisyphus: just like him, he’s forced to roll his rock up the hill (aka to keep their vessel moving forward). And every time he’s almost reached the top, every time he feels they’re accomplishing something, his efforts are in vain and they come back to square one. And he’s doing it for a very long time. Can’t really blame him, if he gets overwhelmed by pessimism.
Heart is associated with hate: as seen before, Heart can be pessimistic and dark, and that's because he’s not just the bearer of positive feelings. As he will say in The Heart Acoustic, he’s “the emotional side”, not the “positive emotions only side”.
Heart is the despited: he embodies all emotions and those are instinctual, uncontrollable forces. We always blame them (and consequently our hearts) when they make us do stupid shit.
(And how we’re aware we’re doing stupid shit? Thanks to our minds. So yes, Mind despising Heart for everything he does makes perfect sense too.)
*
Mind: time, berate, the freak
Mind is associated with time: a great reference to Ruler of Everything, a song about how time is the ruler of everything and, by association, how Mind is the ruler of their vessel… or at least, that’s what he wants to be, because for now their leader is still Heart.
Mind berates Heart and oh my god if he does it. He spends entire songs to diss the other side, "berate" is the perfect verb for him.
Mind is a freak: again, incredibly human and understandable. Not just because Mind is a freak (Heart himself will call him "automaton freak" and his appearance on the album cover is freakish too), but also because it's very common to associate cleverness with freakiness. The more clever someone is, the more they look/act like a freak. And who is more of a freak, if not the embodiment of the mind himself?
*
Soul: minutiae, amalgamate, the enlightened and the free
Soul is associated with minutiae, through a reference to 1984: just like Winston in the Ministry of Truth, so Soul feels in his powerful position, forced to drag himself through every futile, trivial detail. Like, you know, listening to Heart and Mind's "silly war" (The Bidding).
Soul is associated with "to amalgamate": again, his vision is clear, he remembers the goal. To become one.
Soul is the enlightened, because he's the only one remembering that goal from start to end and actively working for it. The other two get... well, a bit lost on the way.
Soul is the free: as stated in Dream, he's the most powerful of these three characters. The other two aim to control him, but Soul cannot be controlled.
*
A connection with Sanders Sides: these two lines made my brain immediately click
And sure, I lament the lack of a hen to share with in sick or in health But how am I supposed to love another when I barely know myself?
Why? Because they’re a lot similar to this line:
[Thomas]: Do I really know myself as well as I should?
and this line is the premise of Sanders Sides. So yes, it’s interesting (and understandable) that both stories open with the same idea of “not fully understanding yourself” as a starting point for a deeper exploration of the self.
The big difference is that Chonny takes one step further and doesn’t just tell he doesn’t know himself… but that he cannot pretend to love someone else, if he doesn’t know himself first. Which is the solution to the Thomas/Nico relationship I kept talking about for ages.
(I will write that post about these two series, I promise)
Also… remember this point about loving others when we will reach Concord.
*
About the Juno Incident: Chonny says that "there's a me stuck underground", clearly referring to the Juno incident and how Heart got stuck in the hole dug for Mind...
But, wait: the incident hasn’t happened yet. How can Heart be already stuck?
Unless the Juno incident is a fixed event of the time loop. Every time the loop restarts, the Juno incident happens, Heart misses Mind and gets stuck in that hole.
This also explains how they can talk about the incident in such clear detail and especially about the events before and after said incident:
One time they tried to sing to me About blues and greens; the in-betweens But mechanical hands decided where the Heart would be Just apathy I had been trying for years and for years that streamed To thrive, and relish entropy But when he finally shot at me Lines once solid were blurred
Heart says that they tried to find a compromise, an in-between (Night). But then, Mind slowly took over: he appointed himself as the new leader (Ruler of Everything) and decided Heart was beneath him. Heart’s reaction was a slow descent into apathy (Just Apathy), until he gave Mind full control of the vessel (The Heart Acoustic).
On the other hand, Mind says he tried for years to thrive, to keep their vessel up (Be Born, Storm and a Spring, The Mind Electric). But when Heart shot at him, he “blurred the lines”: his action reminded them both they’re not separate entities. They are the same entity. And that’s because:
And right as he (I) missed, my eyes in a mist I finally realized I shot at myself
Heart’s eyes were “in a mist”, because feelings are irrational and instinctual, so of course he didn’t act with a clear, logical mind.
Hence, he missed. But at the same time, he still hit a target: himself. Because what struck him wasn’t a bullet, but the consequences of an event. Specifically, the consequences of a failed romance.
But I will further explain this once we’ll reach Haiku and Hidden in the Sand. For now, as it was for most of this song, just keep this stuff in mind: we'll develop everything down the road ;)
Next post ->
(How about a coffee? ☕)

BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH THE CCCC MUSICAL IDEAS YALL!!!!
Spring and a Storm is canonically a Soul song buutttt, it's an musical adaptation!! We can mess around a bit!! So the idea I had is that Soul is basically trying to clear the air between Mind and Heart (as a rift is already beginning to start again between them), and while snooping around for something that could bring them together in Mind's room (because memories are stored in the mind/brain and all that-), he stumbles across a memory in the form of a VHS tape labeled "love song". What better way to bring your brothers together and unite them with a common goal than a love song right? So Soul plays the tape, Heart is prideful because it's his work showing (proving to Mind that he's useful!) when suddenly the tape ends! Soul and Heart (yes only those two, because Mind, with his blue, logical butt, doesn't get the appeal of the love song (good ol fashioned foreshadowing for Storm and a Spring later on)) ponder briefly before deciding to just..finish it up themselves! Thus we get some cute springtime imagery and umbrella choreography (to mirror Storm and a Spring) and Mind looking uninterested in the back. I got this idea from the fact that the first minute or so sounds kinda low quality compared to the rest of it. So my thought was...VHS tape!
There's what i can best describe as a wall of lights in the back of the stage. Think of something similar to the wall of lights in Diana the Musical.
So basically throughout the show (notably in Dream, Night, Light, and The Soul Eclectic), the Wall of Lights is in action!
During Night, HMS are dressed in the OTHER colors they are associated with (Soul in grey, Mind in white, and Heart in black)
The boys are having an absolute blast during Variations on a Cloud; they can start an audience clap-along as a treat.
During VOAC, the boys and the ensemble are holding glowing prop clouds, think of something like the McC*rter version of Sugar Cloud from Ride the Cyclone!
Tumblr media
During The Bidding, the set is made to resemble an auction house. With each verse Heart and Mind sing (Soul is the auctioneer so he doesn't participate) they slam color-coded currency (Heart gets purple and black dollars, Mind gets white and blue dollars, the ensemble gets gray, red, and gold (to represent Whole) dollars) down on a table perhaps, until Heart tries to attack Mind during the "And here he is, the piece of shit, sitting, seething, high atop his stolen throne" bit.
During the "See how the serfs work the ground..." bit in "The Soul Eclectic", Soul gestures towards either the band/orchestra in the pit (or onstage!) or to the audience.

who’d wrap who in like a million blankets and give soup after hearing what happened to them
mirabelle and isabeau would Not let the color gang go without being wrapped in blanket burritos and given soup......almost wrote soul JKDSHSDJ
ACTUALLY YKW. orange would Also forcibly wrap siffrin & soul into blankets . those two are NOT getting away without getting comforted by the twelve-year-old with far too much willpower

Note
on the plural chonny songs topic, hes got two original songs with some variation of the line "one will turn to two will turn to five"
"End the Dance." and "Devil's Tricks."
the second one is more especially plural all the way through but i think the first one precontextualizes the line
also Pit. is so so plural to me. you just gotta trust me but it matches the themes of both songs... and Devil's Song. has similar graphics to one major section of pit during the "one will turn to two will turn to five" line
obligatory mention of The Ballad of Dr Jekyll and The Mr Hide Jive for obvious reasons
laplaces angel is DEFINITELY PLURAL "one hundred trillion years all piled up in one brain" and just that whole verse
Not Perfect is so plural to us. on its own lyrically not necessarily but wearing different outfits n singing with voices for each section.
the forest for the trees for similar reasons tbh
tomcat disposables isnt necessarily plural but it feels like its about growing up after a particularly food insecure childhood, in a pretty plural way
honestly theres so many with one solo line that are so so plural in otherwise irrelevant songs
Thermodynamic Lawyer, Push, Mayday,
THE MOSS. i mean "well legend says that one and one is two and that one and two is three" which sort of ends up getting thematically reprised over into mucka blucka
we have even less reason for chonny's inferno i dont think theres a single line thats plural but to me its the. its the plural self acceptance and finding community. "an awfully diverse cast of critters resides down here in hell" you get it.
also also the latest project is based on the Ship of Theseus, and hes making a bunch of variations of the same song and theres nothing particular plural about it yet beyond just. the concept of the Ship of Theseus haha.
ok i think thats it
insert image I Can (imagine anything) Make ANY Chonny Jash Song Plural
It's moments like these that I'm glad I accidentally spoke this blog into existence.
End the Dance: your future self was too late to stop you but god damn it she's still going to try. If there aren't already animatics to this song, you know what to do.
Devil's Tricks: welp, she tried, it didn't work. Honestly, this one hits a little too close to home. I'll have to check out the full album
Pit: Even just the fact this is off the same album as the last two is already promising - why is the youtube upload's description "please do not call headspace"
Jekyll/Hyde Jive: oh come on how can I not?
Laplace's Angel: I almost put the original on the playlist when I first made it, and now I'm annoyed I didn't. Let's redefine reality together
Not Perfect: A flawed whole made of flawed parts? A life that never quite feels like it's entirely yours or always worth doing? Yeah, I see it
Forest for the Trees: This is the girl who's inviting me to run away with her in Laplace's Angel, mental health problems and all. Can't really call it a plural song though
Tomcat Disposables: this song just doesn't sound right to me in a major key, but you're right
Push/Mayday: Don't Die Wondering.
The Moss: Look, there's stretch, and then there's "the concept of math is a CCCC Covered in Discontent reference"
