Doflamingo enjoys his life luxurious and filled with excess, so his love language is of course gifts. He will shower you in gifts, everything that has more than three zeroes behind its price tag you will get. Pampers his darling to oblivion, expensive food, expensive vacations, clothes, pets, jewelry, bed sheets, everything about him scream luxury.

How intense would it get?

It can be overwhelming at first. Liking to admit it or not he is trying to buy his darling to a certain extent, manipulating them with his wealth to make them want to stay by his side.

Blood: How messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling?

Doflamingo is willing to spill as much blood as needed AS LONG as it maintains his reputation as a warlord. He isn't going to carelessly kill every poor fucker who dares to set eyes on you, but he may or may not make them disappear under mysterious circumstances.

Cruelty: How would they treat their darling once abducted? Would they mock them?

How would they treat their darling once abducted?

Like most people affiliated to him, he treats them nice enough when he's pleased with them. He isn't too tenderly loving to his goons, but with you he is. He is kind and he is gentle and he really, really tries to make you feel at peace. Overall not the worst during the first few stages of kidnapping. 

Would they mock them?

It's in his nature. When his darling screams or cries or does anything that makes his heart melt he can't help but coo at them, even if its condescending and cruel. He just can't help it.

Darling: Aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darling’s will?

There is a point in which Doflamingo has to satisfy his carnal needs. He is a man, and like any other man he has them. But he can't turn to the usual expensive hookers he used to, not when the thought of someone else that isn't you touching him suddenly fills him with this strange, revolting sensation on the pit of his stomach.

So his solution is... unsavory. For the both of you, he doesn't like to make you victim to this form of pain and violence, he really doesn't. But what other choice do you leave when you look so vulnerable when pleading for him to not hurt you?

Exposed: How much of their heart do they bare to their darling? How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?

Doflamingo is a very closed man in general. His pain, his struggles, everything that isn't the mask of a strong, cocky man is off limits for everyone else. He's good at hiding how he's feeling, but whenever he has those nightmares he will allow himself to be comforted. He doesn't talk about them, about what he thinks or suffers, but he allows himself to be held during those moments.

How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?

Not the most vulnerable. In general for him people are disposable, his darling is just less disposable than others and will do everything to ensure they remain safe and his. But he will not allow others to use you as an exploitation tool to manipulate him. In that case, he will have no choice but to get rid of you.

Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back?

I think for the most part he is unbothered. He is virtually unstoppable against any normal human and even if he wasn't, he's still a god, so why should he be bothered?

He isn't amused, but it just... doesn't really faze him. A couple flicks to his strings and you're all pliant and sweet again, he just has to find a way to deal with that awful mouth of yours.

Game: Is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape?

Everything is sort of a game for him. Even his darling. They're a toy, a doll, a thing he can use and abuse, and contort to his liking. This pliant thing that the heavens made for him to play with.

Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them?

The strings are something else. The way you loose control over your body, the way you can scream at your body to do something and have him to the opposite entirely is terrifying. It's an experience so overwhelming, so extremely maddening that one time under his claws its enough to never, EVER want to make you become subject of it again.

Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling?

The future every single pirate in the world has. World domination, ruling the land with an iron fist, and having his darling by his side. As a pet, as a lover, as anything he wants them to be.

Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope?

He isn't that easily made jealous, his ego is so massive that bruising it is like boxing it against a concrete wall: hard and technically impossible without breaking all the bones in your hand. But, it is possible and when it happens it is BAD.

He becomes an entirely different man, cold, even more cruel. He's like a wild animal let loose, completely escaping the control of you and everyone else around.

Do they lash out or find a way to cope?

He does lash out. Either by making it clear his darling belongs to him or by killing, killing and torturing and doing unspeakable things to whoever has caused this feelings upon him.

Kisses: How do they act around or with their darling?

Doffy can be the most sickeningly sweet man in the world if you play your cards right. If his darling becomes the thing he wants the most: a doll, a puppet made for his enjoyment. He will be so sweet, so tender and so, so loving.

Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?

As a pirate and a man, Doflamingo believes courting is a process to be enjoyed. Never rushes it, the dates, the candlelit dinners, the expensive gifts. It's the most basic courting one can think of, with the added fact that he is a ruthless pirate that may threaten to end your entire family and friends if you refuse to accept his advances and affections.

Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else?

Not entirely. He is much more vulnerable with his darling, like I said back in letter E. But aside from that nothing much changes, he is him, unfiltered. And nothing you or anyone else does will make him change that.

Naughty: How would they punish their darling?

Doflamingo isn't above physical punishments, although he has a very noticeable distaste for them. He prefers the restraint, the sexual torture, physical violence would mean that he has reached a point in which you escape his control and he has to force you to understand.

Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling?

As long as you remain within his estate you are technically free to do whatever you want, with reasonable limits every relationship has. Isn't too bothered with you interacting with his family and will encourage you to do so.

Interactions with outsiders such as family, friends or strangers are very filtered by him. No topics he wouldn't like being discussed, not too many affectionate touches, no pleads for help and no revealing his plans.

Patience: How patient are they with their darling?

Doffy is as considerate as one can be. He will wait as long as he needs to until you finally accept your situation and remain by his side willingly. Despite that, he will not hesitate to punish you, humilliate you or use you to satisfy his needs.

Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?

Doflamingo has never considered himself to be overtly emotional. Of course he would be sad, and of course you would haunt his nightmares for the foreseeable future and quite frankly, the rest of his life. But is extremely good at hiding it. At least can bear other hands touching him.

Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?

No, he doesn't feel guilty for anything to be honest.

No. What is he, stupid? His darling's place is by his side. Forever, always.

Stigma: What brought about this side of them (childhood, curiosity, etc)?

Like all pirates he has a tendency to hoard treasure, things he likes. Aside from that he's just selfish, always has been. If he wants anything he'll get it and he'll make sure nobody else but him has it. The world is his, and he can do what he pleases, even taking you away from everything you know.

Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?

Amused! He's a sadistic man, and you can't blame him for enjoying the way your face scrunches up when you cry, or how you pout your lips when you're sad. He likes it, he likes your pain and sadness.

Unique: Would they do anything different from the classic yandere?

Surprisingly one of the least jealous yanderes. Will allow you to have a normal social life under certain conditions he places. As long as you follow them you're free to talk and interact with whoever you please.

Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape?

Well, uh... he goes to jail and stuff. And I'm sure the marines will help you, in exchange for some valuable intel, of course.

Just make sure he doesn't find out. Nobody likes a rat ;)

If the situation forces him to he absolutely will and won't regret it. But thinks it's distasteful to hurt someone as vulnerable and valuable to him like you. Prefers to do... other stuff to assert dominance.

How much would they revere or worship their darling? 

He doesn't worship, but he does like to be worshiped. He takes more care of his darling than of anything else. To him, you're easily broken, easily killed. So he remains careful, pliant, tender and sweet.

Doflamingo is willing to do just about everything as long as it doesn't compromise his power and status. If there's anything he loves more than you is that: power.

Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?

Not that long. Like I said, he has a tendency to just want to hoard and hide anything he likes or needs. He doesn't want his fun, his luxuries, anything that belongs to him taken away. Tries to appeal to your pitiful side by saying he's "healing his inner child" or something stupid like that.

Zenith: Would they ever break their darling?

Tries his best not to. A broken doll is no fun.

It will come as no surprise that The Bibi Files by Alexis Bloom and Alex Gibney is an extremely well-crafted documentary. The two are highly regarded filmmakers, and the movie has been shortlisted for an Oscar in the documentary category.

The files referred to are the three criminal indictments on fraud, bribery, and breach of trust for which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu is now standing trial. After years of legal delays, the trial has reached a critical stage as the defense presents its case. Netanyahu is now required to attend court sessions three times a week.

The Israeli leader is accused of taking bribes from billionaires that total hundreds of thousands of dollars, though he said he was simply receiving gifts from friends. He’s also on trial for conspiring with the publisher of one Israeli newspaper to use his influence to limit the circulation of another, in exchange for favorable coverage. Most egregiously, he’s accused of agreeing to regulatory changes worth hundreds of millions of dollars on behalf of Israel’s largest telecoms company, in exchange for favorable coverage on one of its news websites.

The Bibi Files is at its damning best when presenting a compelling case on the veracity of the charges against Netanyahu and the impact his extraordinary battle has had on Israeli political life and national security, including the prosecution of the war against Hamas in Gaza over the past 15 months. Unfortunately, the film does not stop there.

The last part includes an analysis of Israel’s policies toward Palestinians and the war in Gaza, with a clear ideological bent. No attempt is made to present a balanced viewpoint. Instead, it becomes yet another vehicle for bashing Israel and Netanyahu. This is a great shame because this section does not do justice to the rest of the film.

Even if one wishes to broaden the concept of The Bibi Files beyond the legal realm—a legitimate approach—a balanced treatment would have included a number of other issues. If Netanyahu is to be held politically responsible for the catastrophic failures of Oct. 7, 2023, and forced out of office, as many in Israel believe he must, this writer included, he should also be given credit for his achievements—including the Abraham Accords and the military successes that followed Oct. 7.

His achievements have shifted the balance of power in the Middle East, with important ramifications not just for Israel, but for the Sunni states and the United States. Indeed, the entire Iranian-led Axis of Resistance, which Iran spent decades and billions of dollars building, now lies in ruins. Hamas has been virtually defeated as a military organization and weakened politically; Hezbollah has been severely mauled, with up to 80 percent of its mammoth rocket arsenal eliminated; Iran has been significantly weakened and is arguably more vulnerable today than ever before; and the fall of the Assad regime in Syria is at least indirectly the result of Israel’s military successes.

None of this detracts from Netanyahu’s failures, including the harm he has caused to Israel’s international standing. In the years leading up to the current war, Netanyahu refused to pursue a diplomatic solution to the Palestinian issue. He now refuses to take advantage of the dramatically changed circumstances and reach an accommodation. Above all, Netanyahu is guilty of waging an ugly battle against Israel’s judiciary, which has undermined the nation’s social and ethical fiber and shaken the very foundations of Israel’s democratic institutions. His policy legacy includes mainstreaming racist, misogynist, and ultranationalist parties by inviting them into his coalition.

Bloom and Gibney make extensive use of leaked footage from Netanyahu’s police interrogations. In doing so, they reveal Netanyahu’s character flaws and his rhetorical skills. In the film’s most arresting scenes, Netanyahu claims repeatedly that he cannot remember specific events described by police interrogators. We are all entitled to forget events that took place years ago, and the prime minister is undoubtedly a busy man, but his replies go well beyond the bounds of credulity.

In the film, Netanyahu’s closest friend from childhood, Uzi Beller, suggests that the Israeli leader has lost his moral compass. Other people tell the filmmakers that Netanyahu changed after the 2015 elections, which he won in an upset. That’s the moment when Netanyahu may have truly come to view himself as “King Bibi,” a moniker popularized by Time magazine years earlier. From then on, he appeared to have prioritized his own private well-being over the good of the nation. After corruption charges were filed against him in 2019, he seemed willing to do anything to avoid prison time.

These ulterior motives seem to drive the ongoing war in Gaza, even after Israel’s primary objectives were reached as early as January 2024. The killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar last October might partly vindicate Netanyahu’s decision to continue fighting. Still, it seems incontrovertible that he has prolonged the war to serve his personal interests and manipulated the hostage issue for his own political benefit. The degree of political and personal cynicism he exhibits is extraordinary—and reprehensible.

The film also features video clips of police interrogating Netanyahu’s wife Sara and his son Yair. Both are known for their hardline positions and their commitment to keeping Netanyahu in power indefinitely and themselves safely ensconced in the premier’s residence. His wife is deeply involved in his political and policy decisions, as well as appointments of senior officials, while his son is responsible for much of the political bilge issued by Netanyahu’s online information operation. Their encounters with police are belligerent. In one particularly galling exchange, his son says that the investigators are part of a “police state,” “mafia,” “successor to the Stasi,” and, most remarkably, “almost the Gestapo.”

With Israel’s recent military successes in Lebanon and elsewhere, Netanyahu is now rising in the polls and it is no longer inconceivable that the man responsible for the policy and security failures that led to Hamas’s attack on Oct. 7 might be reelected once again. The crucial question is whether his old nemesis, former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, runs in the election and manages to sideline Netanyahu. A hostage deal would cap Netanyahu’s resurrection and possibly push him into the electoral promised land. It would not be surprising if he called early elections to this end.

Still, Netanyahu would continue facing corruption charges. Notwithstanding the broad, no-holds-barred campaign being waged by him and his aides against the judiciary, including Israel’s Supreme Court itself, the country’s judicial system is probably strong enough to prevail and deliver a just verdict, whatever it may be. Criminal cases are based on a defendant’s state of mind and intent, and we will have to rely on the judges, possibly the appellate judges, to arrive at the truth. Based on the footage in The Bibi Files, the verdict is clear.

I'm probably going to post about this on the MW subreddit, but I still find it pretty hilarious that most fans assume the "struggles" Jimbalaya was dealing with back on Earth were related to criminal acts (usually in order to demonize Curly) meanwhile most of the pieces of clues I've gathered from the HFIM dlc and the QnAs we got about the characters' lives have lead me to believe Jimbalaya's struggles were about poverty.

In the HFIM dlc we're pretty clearly playing a fish version of Jimbalaya, and the whole game is about how a capitalistic system ruins people (fish) and those that climb up help perpetuate the system and those that go down just get eaten. So it's pretty interesting to me that Jimbalaya fish even after consuming other fish and items... keeps going down.

But it was the third QnA that sealed it for me. Curly's hobbies are around a lot of friends and family that he could join interesting things. And of course play snow sports in Winter. Winter snow sports... which let's be honest is a pretty expensive hobby to have. Meanwhile, Jimbalaya can't afford any hobbies other than joining one with Curly.

I think this kinda just adds more fuel for Jimbalaya to both envy yet aspire to be like Curly.

I dunno, it's just fascinating to me watching so many fans claim the "struggles" were so obviously to do with crime when most of the current evidence I noticed seems to point towards money related issues.

I think both are valid and valuable interpretations that’s the MW fandom makes but I think the major problem with it is the severity in which they make Jimmy out to be every factor wrong with men in society.

Like I think it’s interesting to use the idea he has some record, misdemeanors/petty stuff, that has complied to make his life more difficult. It’s all his own doing for his entitlement and general behavior but it can also be used to comment on Capitalism banking on desperation and envy. A lot of his actions are desperate because he knows his crimes on the Tulpar will make it virtually to climb any ladder, anywhere anymore due to their weight. Like in the end the problem is undeniably how the proverbial rat race creates environments that fosters Jimmy’s and creates ineffective systems like Curly represents.

Curly on the other hand benefits from the corporate part of it with his financial freedom, stability and prestige but he too is socially stagnant, deeply unhappy in the identities placed on to him and unrecognizable as anything other than a cog in the machine. I think this goes in tandem with the other members too as the identities placed onto them in the scenario all represent stages in capitalism and class discrepancies: Anya represents largely marginalized identities (particularly women in blue collar fields/harassment) and how they ultimately have to fend for themselves. Daisuke a sort of perception of both a class between Curly and the rest, protected no matter the effects of the establishment due to his home life but at the same time he is the metaphorical future gen, things stripped from him as the older generations squabble amongst themselves in private conversations leaving him unequipped. Then there’s Swansea being sort of those who have lived through it, knowing how it ends but ultimately still lack the skills, resources and want to change it, letting it cycle.

The entire thing with Jimmy circles back to the fandom ultimately wanting easy solutions to the events in the games, a face to blame and a weird black and white thinking to issues that are dangerous to view that way.

I think half my art block came from my lopsided attempt to make the DJMM enclosures a little while back - I only recently got down what I wanted after a LOT of failed attempts, frustration with not abiding by my themes, and weird lore. And now I can't even finish it until my laptop's cooling fan stops being dead 💀 It doesn't help that it's the most canon DJMM related thing I've done in a while.

I remember you asking in the tags what his needs would be and I never answered bc I was gonna add it to the post when I finished it but clearly that's gonna take forever. So here they were + the wips of the enclosure + literally everything about the whole concept.

Keyboard. Turntables. Music Equipment™ and a fitting stage. He is made to create music and not providing him the tools to do it are depriving him of his most basic psychological needs - it is DJMM abuse.

Tall enclosures, with opportunities to climb, because DJMM is arboreal. Smooth walls are alright but textured walls are more enriching and make it safer and asier for DJMM to get a grip in case he cannot stick. Dedicated structures for climbing provide enrichment and is also nice.

Dim, dark environment, but with a few colorful lights. Mimics native environment.

Disco ball OR disco-plated things.

Provide tunnels or opportunities to create tunnels, and hides. DJMM is both a showoff and a hermit hide-away.

Strangely enough, make the care of his enclosure somewhat rely on him. DJMM is made for music, but is also a cleaning and self-cleaning robot made to maintain environments when he's not making or performing music. It's something that keeps him busy and is a natural self-stimulating behavior

These were the baseline requirements across whatever versions of himself there were, whether he was robotic or organic. There were specifics I wrote for the robot and organic versions of himself and the original plan was to actually make 2 different enclosures - one wholly mechanical and futuristic and the other a bioactive paludarium to fit each type. I have the extra things for DJMM care for each type, but the robot one were kind of obvious givens (have charging ports in multiple secluded places) or just "robot-ifying" some of the things I wrote for the organic one, sometimes in really dumb ways

Like, for the whole thing of him being a cleaner robot and therefore wanting to maintain his environment, the fact that the enclosure would be bioactive was my solution for that since he would have to care for whatever other organisms were his roommates. The plants, the little bugs and other animals and even whatever lived in the water. For the robot version of DJ the other organisms... were other robots. Which I just felt was kind of dumb, robots are such clean little creatures while organisms make such a mess everywhere they went, not to mention that's just kind of overkill and even harder/stupider to maintain??? - the robot djmm enclosure ideas were, like, sterile and convuluted like that. In the end I basically just decided if there would be a DJMM enclosure, no matter if he was organic or inorganic, it would be the enclosure I had in mind for the organic one, a bioactive paludarium (reason why i kept the water later on. Tbh mostly because it was Cool).

However going with the organic enclosure was a late decision, here are all my attempts making robot-y enclosures.

This was the closest I got to finishing this, but I really didnt like it after looking at it up close. The main theme for the robot enclosure were jukeboxes, and I had the idea that the central, branching climb structure would have bubble tubes in them. But this, I felt like it didn't look like a jukebox to me - And that really put a wrench in making this since I was super close to finishing it n kinda just got frustrated. I really liked the blend of textures on the wall, though. The wavy pattern were deep, wavy grooves into the walls and it was dotted with softer carpet to make it tactically interesting.

But back to the drawing board. The first sketch was the best with showing the jukebox look but I felt like it went so far into looking like a jukebox that it was devoid of anything else. There was this one that was based off a geometric terrarium but I realized really quickly the aesthetic would've only applied to the outside and not much on the inside. (though now that I'm typing all of this out, i'm second guessing EVERYTHING again and now I'm intrigued by all of my past ideas. The last one though, I kept, and eventually fused with the organic ideas I had.

Once my computer isn't compromised, this is the sketch I'll be continuing. The most controversial(????) part of this though, is that bottom half - This is a paludarium, with lil fishes at the bottom. Which I felt was problematic if we're giving this to a robot on account of water and electricity being destructive lovers. It was a really big part of the organic version of the enclosure though, I thought that if he was huge he'd sometimes use water as a way to spread out his weight and put less pressure on his joints. But honestly I think robot DJMM could use it for that purpose too - Just because he's not organic doesn't mean being huge isn't a giant "fuck you" to his joints.

And the water... wouldn't... kill him solely because fnaf animatronics are Built Different. Using monty as an example of this is a little difficult on account of him Being A Gator but 1. He's a glamrock animatronic, he wasn't made for water. 2. Even if he was built for water to REALLY sell the gator build, in ruin there is frayed, live wire he has just hanging out, all of his skin is gone and water is flooding everything inside of him. And he's swimming like a fish. i think DJMM can survive water

He's doing this all in secret, he's embezzling billions of dollars for a giant spider robot he stole and he's doing it all with funds from a company he cannot stand. He acts like the perfect crypto shmuck so he can swipe money for spider care and I also dont feel bad when DJMM crushes his head between his teeth. It's great

The mad scientist one didn't have much of the same secrecy or story, it was just DJMM in area 51 and Birdguy having a blank check to give him whatever he wanted. DJMM being classified information is secret but it's the kind of secret where there's a lot less risk - in this case Birdguy would have government backing instead of actually having to keep DJMM secret.

The main thing was that he had a lot of exemption from unethical practices because he would be doing some Happy Meat Farms shit to feed him (DJMM had, like, a bear diet, a near perfect half and half omnivore. DJMM's teeth say grazing herbivore but everything else about him screams that he thirsts for flesh and blood). Not just feed him but also create awful animals for him to hunt down

Gravity Falls Characters Pokemon Teams: Part 3 - McGucket

With Stan and Fords’ teams done, it’s time to complete the mystery trio with McGucket! Once again, there are in depth little story blurbs about how they’d meet and get along under the cut.

1. Klink > Klang > Klinklang (Gear Pokemon)

A quirky and unpredictable little thing, Klink was the first Pokemon that Fiddlford caught. Chasing an escaped Lechonk from his family’s farm, he followed it into a cave where he found this mysterious Pokemon. He’d never seen anything like it. The fact that such a mechanical and inorganic looking thing could somehow be a living breathing creature utterly fascinated him. Klink was what sparked his interest in mechanisms, an interest that would soon bloom into a passion for machinery.

When he brought Klink home, it confused his family. They couldn’t understand why he wanted to keep such a strange thing, and encouraged him to release it as it served no useful purpose on the farm—just a “distraction” keeping him from the real work. Though it labeled him as a bit of a misfit, Fiddleford kept the creature and kept creating machines too.

Klang Pokédex entries: “A minigear and big gear comprise its body. If the minigear it launches at a foe doesn’t return, it will die. … By changing the direction in which it rotates, it communicates its feelings to others. When angry, it rotates faster. … This Pokémon is considered the symbol of industrial technology.”

When Klink evolves into Klang, Fiddleford becomes aware if not entirely fixated on the fact that if its tandem rotation is interrupted, it will die. He internalizes how essential it is for its gears to keep turning, how important it is that its mechanisms run smoothly, how much he can learn about it from observing the way it works.

It informs the way he looks at things, how he builds things and for what purpose he does. He adopts the belief that he can overcome any problem by finding solutions in building machines, and keeping those machines well oiled. If it works for Klang, it can work for him! And if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Klinklang is that well oiled machine incarnate. A complex marrying of many mechanisms born from years of Fiddleford’s care and effort. It achieves this ideal form soon after Fiddleford settled down with Emma May and started his budding computer company. It is a great help to Fiddleford’s work, but more so than that, it’s Fiddleford’s oldest and truest friend who he brings with him through every endeavor.

Until, it ends up forgotten and abandoned in a PC box for thirty years.

As Fiddleford’s mental state rapidly declined, in his final stages of coherency, Fiddleford stored it there in a panicked effort to protect it from his own impending, destructive insanity. Unfortunately, this effort proved entirely necessary.

After Weirdmagedddon, Fiddleford finally retrieves it. Its gears run a little slower, but they’re still just as precise. That well-oiled machine will yet be well-oiled someday once again. They’ll get there together.

2. Porygon > Porygon2 > PorygonZ (Virtual Pokemon)

Porygon Pokédex entries: “State-of-the-art technology was used to create Porygon. It was the first artificial Pokémon to be created via computer programming. … It was built years ago by scientists who dreamed of exploring space. Their dreams have yet to come true.”

Fiddleford created Porygon (with minimal help from Ford) while in Gravity Falls. A sort of side pet project, and then pet in general, they concerned themselves with when they weren’t working on the portal. While Ford’s ambitions seemed grander than the mere exploration of their own universe, Fiddleford suggested they should at least make an attempt to investigate their own galaxies while they’re at it—convincing him due to his still strong affinity for stars and space.

Fiddleford dedicated much more time into its creation than Ford did, handling the entirety of its programming himself while Ford did little more than develop its physical body. It ends up a semi-success. It works and can even function in an entirely virtual space within Fiddleford’s computer. Its space travel capabilities aren’t fully explored, however.

Much to Fiddleford’s disappointment, the portal remains Ford’s priority and the completion of the Pokémon doesn’t sway him as he thought it might. He doesn’t give up yet, though.

Porygon2 Pokédex entry: “It was upgraded to enable the exploration of other planets. However, it failed to measure up.”

In an effort to divert reignite Ford’s enthusiasm, Fiddleford created an upgrade for the Pokémon entirely on his own. He was able to update it with some very impressive features. It was now equipped with artificial intelligence and more specific parameters for interplanetary travel. However, since Ford refused to help him develop the Pokémon further and demanded most of Fiddleford’s time for portal work, he wasn’t able to fine tune the creature as well as he wanted. Its physical body even lost its ability to fly. In a last ditch effort, he once again asked Ford if he could at least humor him and aid in creating one more definitive upgrade to create a Pokémon that they could both be proud of and perhaps even garner recognition in the scientific community for it being the technological breakthrough that it was.

Unfortunately, Ford had other plans.

Porygon-Z Pokédex entries: “Its programming was modified to enable it to travel through alien dimensions. … It did not work as planned. … Its behavior is noticeably unstable, which is apparently due to the incompetence of the engineer who updated its programming.”

Ford presented him with a Dubious Disc, something he’d apparently developed on his own, but the data it contained was so odd Fiddleford wondered how he could’ve come up with it all. Ford reassured him that this new upgrade would allow it to aid them with explorations of the worlds beyond the portal—the opposite of what Fiddleford was hoping to achieve with it.

His protests to use the disc on the Pokemon fell on deaf ears. Unable to deter Ford, he eventually conceded and defeatedly installed the disc that would irreversibly alter the little creature born of their once united desire.

The changes were immediate… and immensely problematic.

Fiddleford was certain that it was infected with a virus. Its processing capabilities were largely compromised, its artificial intelligence seemingly corrupted as it now acted in unpredictably wild ways. Ford assured him that this was merely a side effect of its enhanced abilities to withstand the harsh environments of other worlds. This did little to sooth Fiddleford because even if that were the case, that didn’t explain why it now acted so crazed.

But as soon as he got a glimpse of what awaits them on the other side of the portal, he understood completely. Utterly unwilling to let Ford torture the poor thing anymore, Fiddleford took Porygon-Z and left. He attempted to undo the damage done, tried to revert the creature back to its form that was yet unfinished but still had the capacity for potential and growth.

Every attempt was a failure.

3. Beheeyem (Cerebral Pokemon)

Beheeyem Pokédex entries: “Rumors of its origin are linked to a UFO crash site- … It uses psychic power to control an opponent’s brain and tamper with its memories.”

During a routine expedition at Crash Site Omega to collect parts for the portal, Fiddleford had a dangerous close encounter of the third kind with this Pokemon. Ambushing them, and rendering Ford incapacitated with mysterious strobing flashes from his multicolored fingers, Fiddleford was forced to fight the Pokémon alone. Despite his terror, he was able to overpower the Pokemon with his own and even managed to capture him.

Even after the threat was subdued, what made this encounter all the more terrifying is that when he and Ford returned home safely, even though Ford recovered, he had no memory of the incident and no memory of the Pokémon itself at all. Keeping the fact that he had captured him a secret, Fiddleford discreetly studied the creature and determined that it uses the lights on its fingers to alter memories, even able to erase them entirely.

It was through his studies of this Pokémon’s abilities that he was able to develop the technology used for the memory gun.

4. Zigzagoon (Tiny Raccoon Pokemon)

McGucket’s racoon wife. I’d rather not elaborate.

5. Galarian Meowth > Perrserker

Galarian Meowth Pokédex entry: “Living with a savage, seafaring people has toughened this Pokémon’s body so much that parts of it have turned to iron.”

Most Meowth of this typing are such because of their rough and tumble lives sailing the seas, but the Meowth that McGucket finds doesn’t seem to have been included or maybe he just didn’t get the memo. Instinct still driving him to the water, he spent all his time at the lake, swimming up to people on their boats and pestering them with his oddly aggressive and unsettling behavior. Old Man McGucket found him while doing the same exact thing. For a little while they fought over their territory before Tate chased them both out. Meowth then follows McGucket to live in the dump with no other place to go. They formed a truce though still occasionally scuffled with each other over scraps.

During Weirdmageddon, Meowth evolves into Perrserker. His resilient, fighting side coming out in full force.

6. Psyduck > Golduck

Psyduck Pokédex entries: “Always tormented by headaches. … When its headache intensifies, it starts using strange powers. However, it has no recollection of its powers, so it always looks befuddled and bewildered.”

Psyduck is another Pokemon McGucket met at the lake. She inexplicably started following him with panicked but rapt intent which greatly disturbed McGucket as he believed that she was a rubber duck come to life that was plotting to steal his bathtub. Being a creature that possessed mysterious psychic abilities, she probably followed him with meaningful intent. However, she can’t quite seem to remember what it was.

She also evolves during Weirdmageddon. She acquires control of her powers. An intelligent force to be reckoned with.

Backlight Lens Flare Event Story Summary

TL;DR: Wonderlands x Showtime sign up to work as extras on a movie set at the recommendation of Reki, who has a starring role in the film. Though they had only expected to work there for a single day, impressed by their dedication and desire to learn, Director Ohara invites them to work as stage hands for the rest of filming.

The work is difficult and demanding, and the director intense, but they all find valuable learning opportunities along the way. Director Ohara is especially impressed by Rui's curiosity with all forms of direction and drive to learn, so he invites him on as an assistant director.

While filming the climax of the film, none of the acting adjustments they give Reki manage to convey the proper emotional tone. Rui resolves to find the issue before they try filming again the next day. He and the director skip dinner to edit the film. While doing so, a mysterious and antagonistic stage director and old "friend" of Director Ohara's stops by. He gives some cryptic advice before leaving.

Rui did not sleep that night re-watching the reel and finding old performances of Reki's. Tsukasa, Emu, and Nene come over to give him a bento and make sure he's okay. Emu mentions how cool it would be if they could make a bento that's completely tailored to each person, which inspires Rui for what change they could make. He runs over to tell the director; however, he had already figured out the same thing to a greater degree.

Rui's upset that he was not able to come up with the final solution, but everyone is proud of the final result and the opportunities they were given. Rui's also curious about that strange stage director.

Shortly after, the mysterious director approaches Ohara. He's impressed Rui was able to figure out what he was hinting at and decides to keep an eye out for him.

Chapter 1: After finishing working with the Shunmeiza theater troupe, Wonderlands x Showtime sign up as extras for a day at the reccomendation of Reki, who will be starring in the film. Though they're only working for the day, they're all excited to see how film differs from theater productions (and cheer Reki on).

They meet up with Reki, who expresses his nervousness yet excitement. Reki talks a bit about the director of the movie, Director Ohara. He's a young and talented director passionate about the craft to the degree of seeming a bit intense. Rui understands that sentiment. The group splits off to begin preparations for filming.

Chapter 2: Rui explains the plot of the film, which is based on a novel. Katsuyuki, who lives an average and mundane life, is suddenly approached by Hajime, a girl claiming to be his long-lost sister. Through their interactions, Katsuyuki starts to learn to appreciate life.

Emu notices that the scene they are filming occurs later in the plot, despite this being an earlier day in filming. Rui explains how movies are often shot out of order, so actors must find a way to express consistent character growth and portrayals despite jumping around the plot constantly. The other's seem to be appreciating learning about these challenges. Rui wants to learn more, too.

The day finishes with everyone feeling satisfied (except for Tsukasa, who had ruined a take after seeing a bug in the flowers). As they leave, Reki comes over to thank the four for their hard work. They congratulate Reki on his performance in turn. Suddenly, Director Ohara approaches the group.

Chapter 3: Director Ohara invites Wonderlands x Showtime to continue working on the movie as part-time stagehands. He appreciates their passion for learning and needs the extra hands on set. The four graciously accept.

The troupe watches an action movie in SEKAI with the Virtual Singers. Rin is fascinated by the practical effects Rui explains and wants to learn more about how movies are made. They invite her to come observe them working. The other Virutal Singers cheer the group on.

Much of the work Wonderlands x Showtime has been doing is preparing sets and getting shooting permissions. Director Ohara is very intense, which has led to some other part-time workers dropping out. Rui suspects that's why they were invited in the first place. Still, they've all found the work valuable, so they decide to stay with the project.

Rui wishes he could observe the director closer, but believes asking that would be too selfish. Director Ohara yells at him him for placing the wrong version of the script on set; Rui explains that he rebound it with the newer version to help compare them. Director Ohara nods in approval.

Chapter 4: Some time later, Director Ohara approaches Rui to ask him his opinion on a scene's direction. Rui picks up on the use of camera perspective being unique to film. Director Ohara challenges him to explains the pros and cons of this. The director is impressed by Rui's dedication to learning all techniques of direction, even beyond those that can be applied to plays. He promotes Rui to director's assistant.

Chapter 5: Rui skips lunch to review film with Director Ohara. He suggests changing a scene to backlighting to represent hope for the future, but recognizes this approach is not enough to change the mood. The director teaches him even more techniques.

Some time later, it's time to film the climax scene, where Katsuyuki has to say goodbye to Hajime. She had been hiding a terminal illness from him, and didn't want him to be sad when she left. Katsuyuki, realizing she was trying to disappear, chased after her to get her to stay.

Though the others feel as though the performance went well, the director and Rui feel as though something is off with it. Reki believes it is because he's trying to change his acting syle for the movie, so he tries again. However, this change didn't fix it. He offers to try again, but the director realizes the mistake isn't with the acting. They will retry tomorrow. Rui resolves to try and find the mistake by then.

Chapter 6: Despite earlier, the rest of the day goes by smoothly. Wonderlands x Showtime try inviting Reki to dinner to cheer him up, but he declines. They overhear the director also choosing to skip dinner to edit film. Rui chases after him to help, worrying the others.

None of the edits the two make manage to carry the emotional impact. Suddenly, a mysterious person approaches. He's an old "friend" of the director's and a stage director. He antagonizes Director Ohara through teasing and playing film without permission. He gives cryptic advice before leaving.

Chapter 7: Rui stayed up all night re-watching the scene and taking notes on Reki's past performances. Rin's concerned about Rui not taking care of himself. Nene, Tsukasa, and Emu come over to bring him a meat-based bento, which he appreciates. Emu talks for a bit about wishing they could make a bento specific for each person, like one without any veggies for Rui. Her statement inspires Rui, who runs off without a word.

However, by the time Rui reaches Director Ohara and Reki, he learns that the director had come to a similar conclusion first. Rather than change Reki's style, they should change the script. Rui suggests altering the lines to fit Reki's style, but the director feels as though this conclusion is far enough of a change.

Chapter 8: They reshoot the scene, but this time, they removed some of the lines to better reflect Reki's acting style. The director realized that, though those lines were necessary in a novel, Reki didn't need them for a performance.

Though frustrated he couldn't find the solution himself, Rui is glad to have had this experience. He's also curious about the stranger that approached the night before, but never caught his name.

Wonderlands x Showtime watch an advance screening of the movie together. Though the experience was difficult, they all learned valuable lessons. Reki and Diretor Ohara come by to personally thank Rui for his determination with the climax, and for the confidence boost. Rui tries asking about the stage director, but doesn't get the chance to ask before Director Ohara has to run off.

After Wonderlands x Showtime leave, the mysterious director comes to talk to Director Ohara. He's impressed by the scene change, but even more so that Rui was able to realize what he had meant with his cryptic hint. He decides to keep an eye out for him in the future.

And I know this is totally, completely out the blue but I’ve been one of your followers on here for a while, I am currently doing a PhD if you ever want someone to ask advice from. No one in my family had done a PhD before me and I remember that it was a super opaque application process that I was lucky to have a friend & mentor guide me through. I think the work you want to do re: disaster media, storytelling, and emergency management is hugely important, especially as climate change worsens disasters, and I know I’ve just kind of been rooting for you from afar but I really am genuinely rooting for you and this work that you want to do.

To offer some unsolicited advice (sorry if this is overstepping and please ignore this if you’d rather be in the “vent feelings” than “find solutions” stage rn because I 10000% get that vibe, I just can’t tell which you’d prefer just from online) - do you have specific faculty mentors who you might want to work with for your PhD in mind? Sometimes they have access to financial resources like application fee waivers that their university doesn’t publicize. In my experience the best way to get admitted to a PhD program regardless of application fees is to reach out a specific professor, talk with them, and get them to want to admit you as their student. A professor who wants to work with you badly enough sometimes has the power to cut through a lot of red tape and often also point you to lots of extra resources (my university for example offers up to $5000 in “emergency” aid to students that in your case I could see them easily approving for transportation costs or top surgery costs or both).

No clue what will happen now with so many programs under funding cut threats thanks to the trumpet. But I found a neat looking program in Canada too, soooooo...mayhaps? I'll decide this summer when things have hopefully settled a little and applications open up again.

I do have a specific faculty member at my main choice program, and I've already emailed with her a bit! Never had someone respond to an email so fast, actually. She's awesome.

One way or another, I won't be giving up on my disaster work. This summer will just be the determining factor on which direction I go with it.

In a word, The 1st Presidential Debate of 2024 was BRUTAL! Both Candidates took personal shots at each other; but Joe Biden- to his Credit, offered more Substance than Donald Trump. Trump avoided questions on rising Child Care Costs, Drug Overdoses, & Israel's 'War On Gaza' to name a few, but Biden wasn't able to capitalize on his lack of Policy Measures. Joe Biden came across as 'Too Old for Primetime', & appeared to be regurgitating Talking Points more than confidently articulating his Agenda for the next 4 Years. Donald Trump rambled on & embellished the truth for most of The Debate, instead of answering questions directly. BOTH had moments where they were less than honest. Trump focused on Biden's Job Performance more than articulating his Own Agenda for the next 4 Years. Joe Biden seemed more cognizant AFTER The Debate, than during it.

Donald Trump- to his Credit, was more reserved than he was in the 2020 Presidential Debates. Ironically, it was Joe Biden who initiated the insults, but Trump apparently didn't take The Bait. BOTH performances were subpar for a Presidential Candidate; I understand why Robert Kennedy Jr. was kept off that Debate Stage. NEITHER Candidate offered a Real Solution to Black Specific Issues. Instead, Both pivoted to the Reliable Standard of including 'Hispanics' & 'Minorities' into the Black American conversation. Donald Trump commented that Illegal Immigrants were stealing 'Black Jobs'. Mainstream Media & some Blackfolk were insulted by the statement, but Black Men have been literally pushed out of Union Jobs; particularly in the Field of Construction, in favor of Immigrants. People seem to forget that Black Men have traditionally been Blue Collar Workers. Trump is a virtual King of 'Off Color Comments', but many of Us understood what he was trying to say.

From a Black Perspective, the pivot away from Black Specific Issues speaks volumes about BOTH Party Agendas. Most Black Americans can't afford HBCU Tuitions, so funding them is a Moot Point to Us. Offering Black Students Free or Lower Tuition to State Universities would make more sense. Joe Biden offered a $10K Tax Credit to Black 1st Time Home Buyers, but didn't elaborate on it. He appeared strongest on the topic of Abortion, but allowed Trump to flummox him on the topic; particularly Late Term Abortions. Donald Trump appeared strongest on the issue of Immigration & put Biden on the spot several times, but didn't offer a Specific Agenda on how he will tackle it. Trump also lacked a Policy for lowering Inflation, other than extending his Tax Cuts to Corporations. Joe Biden's Economic Plan, is the continuation of 'Bidenomics'- A Plan that many are already concerned about.

Political Analysts & Pundits covering the Debate were quick to point out Joe Biden's performance. Most felt that he missed several opportunities to catch Donald Trump in blatant lies; they also questioned his Physical & Mental Fitness. He was supposed to reassure his Base that he had the Strength & Mental Competence to Serve another 4 Years, but critics are questioning his ability to finish the 1st Term of Office. Several Democratic Strategists called Biden "feeble & weak". Joy Reid said that Dems she spoke w/ are bordering on 'panic'. Rumors are spreading of a possible intervention asking him to step down, but it might be too late to change Candidates. CNN was accused of Stacking the Deck in favor of Joe Biden, but Trump appeared comfortable w/ the format. Both Moderators allowed Donald Trump to embellish w/o fact checking him; was that their job, or Biden's to do?

Democrats are calling Joe Biden's performance 'A Bad Night' (citing a Cold & scratchy throat), while the GOP applauds Donald Trump for 'Doing what he had to do'. I thought that BOTH Candidates were mediocre. Trump is being congratulated for Side Stepping questions & presenting a Vision of Smoke & Mirrors. Biden took a week off to prepare, but instead of repeating his State Of The Union Address performance, he stumbled through most of the Debate. Mainstream Media tried to predict This Debate would rival the Kennedy vs Nixon Debate of 1960, but it wasn't even close. The best dialogue between the Candidates, was about their Golfing Handicaps. America deserves a President that will move Us forward, but We have 2 'Old Dudes' caught up in their Own Egocentricity.

Donald Trump admitted that he's only running again, because he didn't see a GOP Candidate that could defeat Joe Biden. There are GOP Moderates out there that Republican Leadership & Voters could legitimately support. A few might even sway Independents, Libertarians, & disaffected Democrats; but grassroot support for the 'MAGA Agenda' has silenced most, out of fear of being labeled 'RINO'... I thought that This 'Pre Baby Boomer' Generation was willing to pass the baton when Barack Obama was Elected, but it seems like they've Doubled Down since he left Office. We currently have a Congress run by folks adamant about holding Power until it's pried from their Cold Dead Hands. The World Dynamic is changing & America needs to adapt. The Era of 'Neo Conservatives' & 'Neo Liberals' has run its Course- BOTH allowed the development of a Plutocratic Billionaire Class that has literally choked the Middle Class.

The Future Generations of American Society are NOT expected to outperform the previous Generations. Gen. Z in particular, is DROWNING before They can even Start; but Our 'Elder States[Wo]Men' don't seem fazed by This. They ALL seem content w/ taking The Country Down w/ them.

Why I like them/why I don’t

God, Yugi. I have an eternal shrine in my heart to this little fella, something that I really realized after DSOD let him have center-stage and he really proved himself. Like I said with Yusei I love kind protagonists, and Yugi is (besides his perviness in the early manga) such a genuinely sweet kid. While the reasons for his wish are sad, it's so touching that his big wish with the Puzzle is just to have friends, which leads to his bonds that he forms across the series.

He's just a delight.

What I like about their appearance

Forever will adore that Takahashi had the idea of this unassuming mouse of a person having a fondness for studded leather and belts.

Also I loooooove his violet waistcoat from DSOD! All of the DSOD redesigns are dripped out but Yugi's especially is so good.

Do I prefer their dub names or original names?

I prefer spelling his surname as Muto over Mutou so dub in this case.

Performance wise, it's an even tie between Dan Green and Shunsuke Kazama, they're both perfect in the role and DSOD is a career-defining performance for both of them. I think nostalgia has to let me edge it out to Green but I'm happy listening to Yugi in either language.

One thing I'll praise in DSOD is how both Green and Kazama reflect Yugi's maturity by deepening his voice- both make Yugi sound very similar to Battle City Atem while retaining Yugi's distinctive voice. It's a great touch!

OTP

Yugi/Atem still has such a grip on me all these years later that I hold it as the standard for all Spirit Partner ships to compare against, same for Yugi/Anzu and Yugi/Jou. I just pairing him off with taller people.

NOTP

I can be won over with a good fic or art of it, but I'm not too fond of Yugi and Kaiba in a romantic sense. For me, they're both too influenced by their time with Atem that it would never sit right with either. Always happy to be wrong, but generally I prefer them having an awkward bond post-DSOD that's probably the closest Kaiba can come to a real friendship.

Technically speaking all Atem ships set during canon are OT3's with Yugi in them due to his spiritual third wheel status ha ha.

Favourite card they use

Drawing just from his solo cards and nothing in common with Atem, it's gotta be Gandora. One of the coolest dragons in the series, it's given massive gravitas whenever it appears and it earns its place as Yugi's game closer for a good reason.

Favourite moment they were in

Deliberately not just pointing to the Ceremonial Duel because it's an easy answer and would take it, because I love it so.

I need to re-read the manga so I'm probably forgetting some good moments there, but I've always loved him breaking Bakura's Undead Lock in Millennium World by just breaking out Gandora to nuke the board and leaving Bakura a screaming mess before having Silent Swordsman gut him like a fish.

In general I love that Yugi's wins regularly show him not going for raw firepower but finding a creative solution to his problems- like using effects that target Obelisk's monster zone to affect him, him using Slifer's attack weakening effect on the Gods, and trapping Aigami in an attack loop.

And of course him standing on business against Kaiba and earning his respect in DSOD. One of my favorite duels in the franchise.

Least favourite moment

Would it have killed Gallop to let Yugi duel in the Virtual World Arc even once? I feel a lot of the flack Yugi gets for coasting on Atem comes from the gap between his duel with Joey at the docks and his final duel with Bakura, so having a match here would have been nice (maybe give him the tag duel with Joey against the Big Five?).

I feel I cheat this question a lot as more "Less a moment they have in canon and more I wish that they had this moment," but ah well.

Updates Sims and Otherwise

This post will serve as an update on Pickerling Cove now that I've gotten in the mood to work on it again, but also on my life in general. I have been very fortunate to have been home with my LO since the pandemic, but that's all about to change! She'll be starting school three mornings a week in about a month from when I'm writing this. So, I'm going to be on the job hunt soon, though not full time by any means, we're still aiming to avoid paying extra childcare costs if possible.

In other news, you may remember I was wanting to start a separate tumblr and youtube channel for the doll crafts I do with my kiddo when we have time. Wellll...I started filming a project, but as luck would have it, my friend that I built St. Bernie for lost her job unexpectedly so I was doing a little babysitting for her. Then after that settled down my kiddo's closet...literally fell out of her closet... Don't ask...facepalm. Anywhooo...everything from her closet wound up in my craft/studio room and yeah...we just got it put back together in time for the end of summer. In other words, I have no idea if/when I'll get around to getting that up and running. However, as far as my book, I have finally decided that I want to pursue self-publishing. There is so much stacked against me for traditional publishing. I have joined a local Writer's Guild, and several members are published, so I'll hopefully get some good guidance!

But enough about my crazy life, enjoy the newest screenshots of Pickerling Cove!

The original world waaay back before I even dreamed up Thicket was Mount McSimley and it was inspired by the mountains of Colorado. Pickerling Cove doesn't have any one place that has inspired the vibe I'm going for, I find inspiration from architecture of places I've visited, google images, memories from trips as a child and even this mess which was supposed to resemble some drainage ditch areas in my own hometown (I know, romantic right?) Anyway, this is still giving me fits so I have a new solution in mind, but you won't see that for a while :)

I removed the distant terrain temporarily because I was worried about space. These early stages of world building always throw me off because the roads look so huge with virtually nothing else on the map! As you can see I had begun terrain painting before changing my mind and flattening most of the world out again. I am so happy I did though! Once I found all of those old builds it broke the barrier I was having with city planning. Fair warning it is the largest of the worlds I have made. It's still a medium map like Thicket, but there will be somewhere around 120 lots. I hate that, but it's virtually impossible to keep it below that and accommodate housing along with most of the community lot types available. I will need to do testing of course once it's built, but the city center will be fairly dense with more space between lots as you get into the "suburb" areas.

As you can see, I removed the lighthouse from the world proper and plan to place one on one of the "island" areas created by my typical mishmash of distant terrains!

Ignore the sunken road you can possibly see if you squint. I don't think it will be noticeable actually in game as this is off world...I don't THINK so.

Such a pain to work with the terrains on these smaller maps, but so worth it!

Some things I have taken into consideration for performance:

As I said, there will be around 120 lots, some complicated and large, many close together. Because of that I have planned for combined rabbit holes in a few cases. I also plan to use Bridgeport and Roaring Height's shells to give the illusion of a true city with varying height and a large population. Rabbit hole lots I build out won't be furnished. I know a lot of people like the realism of these being furnished, but it does add to unnecessary objects cluttering up the world size. I figure if people have powerful computers and want to fill out every building they can, but I want to keep it as accessible as possible especially since I am already using items from a store world and I know those aren't cheap. I'm placing trees last as typical. I find it helpful to place lots first and see where trees and rocks would look natural and good. While I have placed several rocks already, mostly in bluff areas, the trees will be last and I always try to stick to four species per chunk so they can be effectively grouped.

I can already tell you that likely every expansion and definitely Roaring Heights will be required. I'm also using casino objects from the Lucky Simoleon. Any other store content will be pretty inconsequential.
