First, I want to acknowledge the messages I've already received. Sounds like some of you are as fed up as I am. I don't want to say that's wonderful because in the grand scheme of things, it's a little sad. Clearly, there are other "dissenting" views out there, but the fact we can't even express them behind the actual usernames we've built for ourselves is a testament to how insane and toxic our own community can be.

I can't say I'll live up to the expectations some of you might already have. Contrary to the tone of my introduction, I don't go out of my way to seek content to bitch about, and sometimes my bitching is really just... me wanting to express an opinion that isn’t shared by the vast majority of Jikookers but frustratedly knowing 100% that sharing it on my main would have me crucified for life. That’s what makes me angry. Like the gall some of you have to think a difference in opinion or a reality check deserves to be vilified. Shipping is and should be a hobby, get your head of your ass. I have a mental list of things that have come up over the course of time I've been a Jikooker, none of which I've actually written down to remember because I didn't think I'd get to this point. My intent as a shipper was always just to retweet/reblog/comment on cute, sexy, lovely posts from other Jikookers and twiddle my thumbs in front of my computer like a good, little bastard, but that was obviously never in the cards. Shipping in this fandom should’ve came with a warning.

Anyway, I will share and/or respond to those messages soon.

If there's a moment or opinion that you want me to address, feel free to engage and submit it. I’m sure it’s on my list, but again, I don’t keep track (one day I might even talk about ~hickey gate~ 🤭). I'm all ears eyes.

For now, let's touch on something small. Anticlimactic, even, but recent.

Disclaimer: I have nothing against the people whose links I'm sharing, but I don't like to repost if I can help it.

On the angry scale, the issue this moment presented was a 2. It's nothing to write home about, and it shouldn't have been. But here are the facts:

Jkkrs claimed Tkkrs were essentially getting their panties in a bunch because Jimin interrupted what looked to be a Taekook moment. And so Jkkrs doubled down and pointed out that Taehyung was, in fact, encouraging this interaction between Jikook (”omg yes Vmin besties”). I can't find it anymore, but a Twitter user shared an uploaded video from a 3/4th angle to show that Jungkook wasn't reaching out for Taehyung at all. It was more a performative gesturing that singers will engage in as they're singing.

In the replies of that tweet, users took to petty commentary.

Wait, what? Why would TAJ be mad about that?

Becaaaause... THEY. ARE. PERFORMERS. LET OUR MEN PERFORM WITHOUT TURNING IT INTO A SHIP-DICK MEASURING CONTEST. It doesn’t take a genius to notice that they were acting out their lyrics. That’s it. BTS does shit like this all the time; it's second nature to them as performers.

But TAJ, it technically was a [insert ship] moment...

If you're one of those people who took that moment at face value, I'm not referring to you. You’re wonderful, keep doing what you’re doing, and I agree: the glimpse of Vmk during that section was cute to see on stage. 

I took issue with the Jkkrs who basically went, "Neener, neener" like first graders at Tkkrs for being wrong. I’m not quoting them verbatim obviously, but that was the collective tone, and that particular clip started to represent another bullet in Jkkrs’ arsenal, like “See, we told you!” First of all, if being on that end of an argument makes you feel big, you have the working mentality of a toddler. Second of all, both sides mistake interactions frequently. Why stoop to a level that embarrasses you and everyone else who have to be associated with you because of a common interest?

It sounds like I'm getting my feathers ruffled over nothing, but I see this type of tittering amongst Jkkrs all the time, which is sometimes followed up with the shared recollection of earlier, unrelated moments to show that Jikook is more intimate overall (there are plenty of threads that devolve in this manner). It's part and parcel of a more insidious way of shipping. Because those same people are no longer appreciating the dynamics of the boys and how multifaceted and complex their relationships with each other can be, but rather to prove with their whole ass chest that one is MORE REAL over the other when--newsflash!--they’re ALL real. The moments the boys have that they share with us are not opportunities for you to prove they are definitively fucking each other over the other ship (which is another can of worms I don’t feel like opening right now). Cut that shit out.

I’ll give you a real warning though, when I was little cogs would give me nightmares sometimes, so be cautious if you’re super small and/or have a fear of robots like me, or just get scared easily! Roblox - Roblox is filled with kids games. Rather than being one game, it’s kind of a platform for a bunch of games made by the community that follow a sort of particular structure (it’s hard to describe aa). Virtual Magic Kingdom - Maybe this is really specific to me, I’m sure there are some other Disney fans out there that remember VMK. It met a similar fate to Club Penguin and Toontown, but is currently being revived by a wonderful group of people! Similar to the other games on this list, you dress up your character, decorate your home, play minigames, and hang out with other players (mostly Disney fans, so this is a great one for all you Disney age regressors like me!) Entirely free to play! Side note: the setup for this one in particular can take a bit of time and work (not too much tho I promise), so I recommend setting it up while you’re feeling big, and then playing it when you’re small! Animal Jam - I just started playing this recently! A super cute game where you pick an animal to play as, dress them up, play minigames, customize your home, and have a fun time with other players! Me: Virtual Magic Kingdom, also known as VMK, was a massively multiplayer online game developed by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and Sulake and published by The Walt Disney Company. It was a virtual representation of the Disneyland-style theme parks, containing areas and minigames which were based on real park scenery and attractions. The beta version opened publicly on May 23, 2005, with new lands opening up through 2007.

VMK initially launched as part of the Happiest Celebration on Earth promotional campaign, commemorating Disneyland's 50th anniversary. Despite no long-term intentions, it gained popularity and eventually became a long-term venture on its own. The target audience of the game was children between the ages of 8 and 14, although VMK was designed to be enjoyed by guests of all ages. Due to the young age of the game's target users, it was patrolled by paid staff who watched out for inappropriate behavior and language. Because of the need for human monitors, the time that the game was open had to be limited; it was open to the public daily between 7:00am–10:00pm PST (10:00am–1:00am EST, 3:00pm–6:00am UTC).

On May 21, 2008, Virtual Magic Kingdom was closed by Disney. Many fans asked Disney if VMK was going to reopen. This prompted Disney to post a message on the VMK homepage that the game was a promotion, and was closed, and that there were "no plans" to reopen VMK in any form. The VMK homepage now redirects to the main Disney games site.

●        While we bemoan the loss of regional variety to the spread of globalisation, it is unfair of us to impose our values on the needs of others. For example, the impact of McDonalds on local cafes weight against the local populations desire for such food.

Do you use twitter? And if so, what are some of your favourite OT7 accounts that you follow for memes and discussions and just general BTS related fun? My tl has become polluted, to say the least, with extreme toxicity and its getting me really down.

I do, but I don’t associate myself with the account on here (and vice versa) because I want to keep them strictly separate.

I don’t follow meme or discussion Twitter accounts. If I encounter any of these things, it’s when I “explore,” and my account is all the more zen for it. 😌 I know you didn’t ask for advice, but if you’re slowly getting rattled by the toxicity on your timeline but for some reason can’t unfollow people for good, mute them. You can manually choose to visit those accounts if you’re curious about what’s going on and what’s being said, but you’ll be spared from being inundated with negativity.

If you’re just looking for a regular account that you can RT from once in a while that supports the boys, I’m really enjoying @TAEONYSUS_7. The user appears to take a shine to the maknae line,* but it’s obvious enough in what they choose to share that they are, ultimately, OT7. I think my appreciation for the account is also due to the fact that there’s no overt shipping. They post duos every now and then, but it lacks any real agenda. I don’t know, I think it’s just a really cool and simple account.

* The account doesn’t advertise itself as a VMK account, but that’s what I’ve deduced based on the members they post with more frequency. I’ll also add that unlike most VMK accounts, this user doesn’t seem to be skewed towards one pair, or it happens so few and far between for it to matter. It’s refreshingly odd to see this neutrality towards VMK.

it’s august!! i hope the month treats me well especially because i was born this month!!

today started off the month well because we ordered pizza and i requested bbq chicken and hoooooly moly it was so good :’) also i found out what happened that wild night lmao apparently kaia teagan romi and jade got super drunk and essentially terrorized graham and jude and the girls somehow ended up sleeping on their mattresses in the pool so... rip

jade brought up vmk and i felt nostalgic because i remember spending so much time on that website when i elementary/middle school??? i was always jealous of the people who had “taken” in their descriptions because i never knew how people managed to get fake relationships in the game so i just ended up going into an adoption agency and becoming a child?? i guess that was my take on how to get attention from another user :// 

also i found out that jude plays overwatch!! how did i not know this sooner?? he’s a hanzo main but i guess i can’t really judge him for who he mains he’s probably better than me either way but i’m excited to play some games with him it’ll be a real bonding experience aka yelling a lot probably LOL idk what happened but in the middle of our conversation jude disappeared and graham said he locked him away why did he do that i was just trying to BOND was he being jealous?? who knows honestly

The fact that you submitted your farewell to the stupid burn book just proves that you were trolling people all along. Why? What kind of pleasure do you honestly get by telling people you're making something, and then not doing it? Was it the tiny bit of attention you got when you first came out, or was it because you're staff and trying to get users to rattle the cage? There's literally no advantage to fake make a game.

It’s really disheartening to receive messages like this. 

This was a project organized by VMK players and we were really hoping it would be successful. We truly believe there should be an inclusive, safe, and respectful VMK remake that emphasizes Disney values and community. We started the project by thinking about a larger framework and what kind of environment we wanted to create for our friends and players like you. We have working code, portions that have to be re-written or scripted, and a framework for an economy and value system. We have ideas for staff cohesion and bonding. We have a database of items, lists of potential themes, and ideas for quests. All VMU team members talked at length about issues that have come up in remakes, such as cyberbullying, corruption, and other significant flaws. 

Unfortunately, a mix of personal and other factors have derailed the project. For example, as stated in our earlier community updates, we are in dire need of coders to move forward (if you know of any, please send them to us!). This is a large-scale project that requires consistent and high-quality work and we weren’t able to build out a team that could accomplish our goals (yet). That’s not trolling - that’s just an unfortunate reality. We had a long and hard discussion about pausing development and it certainly wasn’t something we took lightly.

Finally, we submitted our closing remarks to the ‘burn blog’ because we know that’s a well-known site that many VMK community members use. It was a way to share our message to the larger community beyond our immediate followers.

We’re keeping our shared drive open and invite any community member who would like to help us finalize the project and bring it to fruition to message us.
