wes was born and raised in woodstock and most of his family tree goes back here. he’s an illinois boy through and through! he’s the youngest of three and had a fairly decent home life where he was well cared for and supported. 

his relationship with his parents isn’t really anything to write home about, but the relationship with his two older brothers is a little complicated. while his brothers get along well because they’re interested in the same things (they are thee stereotypical jocks. go bears or cubs or whatever :p), wes is the only one in the family who really strived for something more than just sitting around woodstock so while he’s not necessarily the black sheep, his brothers treat him like he is since he kind of dared to venture out beyond their little town and is a whole world apart from them personality wise. he’s a little resentful of that because he feels like they’re looking down on him but they are proud of him, they just don’t know how to show it!

he was class vice president in high school but did all the president’s work anyway (not that he really minded and it’s honestly where the bulk of his ‘i can do a better job than you’ streak comes from). he was just very eager to get the job done. also he was that nerdy kid who always reminded the teacher they’d had homework 

went off to chicago for college where he joined a business frat and was also vice president there and then president his senior year! he sparingly visited woodstock while he was away and didn’t really plan on moving back but he got an internship at the mayor’s office and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to further aid his political ambitions... he still visits chicago frequently because all his fellow geeky business major frat boy friends are still there <3 his favorite people in the world fr

he’s been back home for about a year now and obviously doesn’t know anything that happened, just the ins and outs of what’s been going on business wise.

wes was really just a passionate person without a cause until he moved back home. now he’s extremely dedicated to the cause of fixing up high volume because he’s a fixer and doesn’t want the character of woodstock to disappear. he roots for the underdogs, you know? he loves to take broken down things and places and tends to them like they’re his little pets! 

he’s very focused, precise, and way more well spoken now than he was in high school. he just knows what he wants to get done and it happens. his discipline is also like... he’s hard on himself and always feels like he can do better or should have done more.

slightly arrogant, not in a mean spirited way but it can definitely come off as pretentious because he does think that he’s smarter than people for having gone to college and sticking with it. he never intentionally talks down to people but he has a tendency to use big fancy words that he knows people probably don’t understand or at least he thinks they won’t understand.

always sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong. that’s why he’s working at high volume now, duh! like what could someone with political ambition want to do with working at a record store if not to “fix” or “save” it from being bought out my big city corps and it’s like dude you’re a cashier what are you gonna do??? but good for him i guess. he's just overzealous :) and really cares about people and the things happening in his small town and thinks he knows best.

while he’s not particularly a liar, he does omit facts that he doesn’t think are necessary to move a conversation along. he just knows what people want to hear and if he wants to only address certain things, i think he should be allowed do that.

i think it’d be really fun and cool if someone hated him or at the very least, finds him annoying and is open about it. he’s very much self inserting by working amongst a group of people who have been dealing with jerry’s death and everything else surrounding it. he thinks he knows what’s best in terms of longevity, but he also hasn’t been in the thick of it so... that’s annoying! call him out!

Lilah was meant to be born on valentines day, but she was a week late - it’s always been a source of disappointment for her, because valentines day was always her favorite holiday, and the idea of having that as a birthday just seems so romantic. Growing up, she felt like she lived a sort of charmed life - her parents were happily married, she adored her sister, everything was practically perfect. 

Her father was probably her favorite person. He was always there for her, at ballet recitals, at school events, anything - he would be there. When she found out he was cheating on her mom, which prompted them to move to Woodstock, she was heartbroken, truly heartbroken for the first time in her life. Part of her had wanted to stay, but she couldn’t do it, feeling like she would hurt her mom too much if she chose her father over her. 

Working at High Volume wasn’t like, a dream job or anything, mostly, she’s hear because if she wasn’t she’d feel left out. It’s almost like when she was a little kid, and she’d tag along behind her sister, but now they’re grownups, and everything is different - she’s hoping it won’t be that way for long. And also, that she’ll be decent at her job - she never was too much of a music buff, or anything, mostly going for whatever happened to be popular and playing on the radio

BACKGROUND.

Things weren’t always so messy for Chase. Born to Harry and Josephine Raynor, it was just him and Dallas for quite some time while their father was on deployment, making the brothers best friends. It’s safe to say that after Violet, Jacob, and Kimberly came into the picture, the house was loud and rowdy more often than not, but the Raynors were always tight and loving and as simple as you could expect.

Tragedy struck when their father died while on deployment when Chase was fourteen years old, and from there it all went downhill for the Raynors. What was once a happy family, became one plagued with trauma and grief. Their mother never really recovered from the loss of her husband, and she became a ghost of herself. While physically around, she was completely disconnected and it was Dallas and Chase who had to shoulder the responsibility of not only taking care of her, but also look after their young siblings and the house, both of them working while also studying in an attempt to make ends meet.

His plan to leave Woodstock came to life not long after his father died, and he tried to save up while helping Dallas out. Despite the hardships the eldest Raynor brothers encountered, they found support and understanding in each other.

 It was them against the world. Till it wasn’t.

Roughly two years ago, Dallas decided it was time to make his dream alive and leave Woodstock to go on tour with his band, Van Buren. This had come as a big shock to Chase who felt both betrayed and abandoned, as he was left to pick up the pieces on his own. While that showed Chase that the dream of leaving was feasible, it also made things ten times harder for him and hit the brakes on his own plans to leave town because he would never leave his mother and his siblings on their own to fend for themselves when the latter were still so young.

PERSONALITY.

As his label says, he’s a pessimist (however, he’ll call himself a realist). That’s not to say he doesn’t try and work towards his goals, but he isn’t hopeful that anything will happen in his favor, often believing things won’t work in his favor. He believes it’s smarter and easier to navigate life that way. He wasn’t always that way, but with his father’s death and the never ending chaos that ensued afterwards, he became one. He’s direct and straight to the point, not one to waste time or beat around the bush, which makes him a little brutally honest and blunt sometimes and can make him come across as someone who doesn’t talk much. He’s the type that needs to get used to someone before he can comfortably talk to them and joke around. He’s also not one to show his emotions, regardless of what’s going on inside of him, which has given some people the impression that he’s more on the heartless end of the spectrum. His father’s death traumatized him to no end, and he’s never been able to grieve the loss properly.

born and raised in chicago; his mother found solstice in the city in the wake of the anti-vietnam war movement, so naturally, she settled with the first guy who complimented her courage (and offered her free coke).

good ol’ pops never did stick around, though, leaving jude in this lonesome excuse for a twosome. mother’s always half-here, and half-elsewhere—in the streets with some hastily-made poster board, or on whatever substance she can get her grubby hands on.

he was removed from her care at the age of eleven—on account of ‘reckless endangerment’ or whatever—and subsequently filtered into the foster care system. and, well, we know how well that always fuckin’ goes.

but c’mon, it’s goddamn chicago, of all places (maybe, anywhere else, he’d have a fighting chance, or maybe he’s living just how nature intended), so he lays victim to the vicious cycle of hanging with the wrong crowd, leading a life of petty crime. tack on enough charges, too, and he’s one of too fuckin’ many sifting through illinois’ juvenile detention centers—though, he’s never been one of the lucky ones to fall through the cracks.

he’s learned a lot in juvie—knows better than to waste away in chicago—but clearly, still not e-fuckin’-nough to steer clear of the people, places, things that landed him behind bars in the first place.

jude transferred to woodstock’s local high school in the middle of his sophomore year; he barely scraped by with his with-what-they-could-find school record. but he passed, and with flying colors, too, ‘cause don’t let his sealed record fool you, jude kimura is fuckin’ smart as shit.

he did the homeless thing for a while; couch-surfed wherever offered, and even begrudgingly laid his head under the roof of the all souls baptist church whenever they had a free bed. odd-end jobs here and there just to make (what a teenager considers) end’s meet.

he’s not sure how it happened—that’s how most shit-shows start, huh? maybe his hunger led him there by instinct, or maybe this was another act of god’s dumbass divine intervention—but he’d heard of the supposed-gambling ring at the mean-eyed cat and thought that these low-level hicks wouldn’t know the difference between counting cards and getting lucky... at least, that’s what he thought.

he wonders if the fact that he was newly clean-shaven was what gave him away; either way, they threatened his life (as if he’d never heard that before) until james, that sick fuck, proposed an alternative.

first, he was assigned to catching cheats like him. then, he moved up into the gang’s makeshift accounting department, where he had to choose between literal briefcases of cash or his high school diploma—and he, obviously picked the former.

and what he did say about that vicious cycle? ‘cause just when he thinks it’s winding down, something always happen, someone always fucks up.

sloane jennings is made an orphan at the age of five. there aren’t any relatives for her to stay with, only friends, and friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends; it takes a village, and dinah & pepper had one! think a series of unfortunate events, where she’s bouncing around in different homes, but the key difference is she was always well-loved in every place she stayed!!!

she ends up going to college bc it’s what her mother wanted for her, but she drops out in her second year just because she didn’t really know what she was doing there, and felt like she was wasting her time.

she has a feeling they’re involved with way shadier shit than they let on, but honestly sloane is not gonna judge people for what they do on their own time, and very few things in her life have been permanent so in general, it’s just difficult for her to take things seriously when she’s like half-convinced she’s not gonna be around that long

like does she move around so much because she doesn’t know how to resolve a conflict? or has she never been able to resolve a conflict because she’s never in one place for too long? the world may never know

but james got arrested, and yes, sloane is impulsive and leaves without saying goodbye, and no one has her for very long, but there’s just no way she would have skipped town on james after that so she stays bc she really, truly believes he’s innocent and wants to clear his name

here’s the best i can do though. she was raised well despite the early tragedy in her life, so she’s optimistic and naive and believes in people, believes that they want to do good because it’s all she’s known. it’s still a lonely road she walks though, and most of her days are spent alone and she knows how to do it well, but she isn’t lonely and she doesn’t want to be the type of person who only tries to rely on herself for everything all the time. people can really change people, so she wants a village, but one of her own, not one passed down to her by her mothers. 

she’s got a sort of scrappy charm to her, crooked grin, rabbit’s foot, always a hop in her step. it makes her look a little spacey, but sloane hasn’t survived this long on her own without good instincts, and one of her only strengths is that she’s good at reading people and adapting to what they need from her at the time. but tbh, sloane’s core is pretty unwavering, so even if her methods and approaches can change based on who she’s interacting with, she never tries to project a false image of herself. it might be incomplete but!

TLDR : not from woodstock but her mother & grandparents are. she’s spent a majority of her summer breaks staying with her grandparent’s in woodstock. she’s in to ghosts & aliens & considerably supernatural things so people tend to think she’s weird. while most people are trying to get out of woodstock, she’s doing everything she can to make a beautiful life for herself there. has only been officially living in town & working at high volume for about a year.

    * mack’s mother had her pretty young, having only just gotten out of high school & moved on from her life in woodstock. her biological father was a classmate of her mother’s that didn’t stick around once he found out about mack’s conception. so she was raised by a single mother for most of her adolescence. but by the time mack started middle school, her mom got married to a nice enough fella who treated mack as if she was his own daughter. together, they raised mack in louisiana. they did their best to provide her with a good life and were successful in terms of material things & emotional support.     * but while mack’s home life was all good & dandy, her social life was tragic. very early on in her youth, mack showed interest in things that other kids would consider odd. she was a little too obsessed with horror movies that would give any sane person nightmares, told one too many ghost stories on the playground that she double dog swore were true, & once got into a physical fight with a kid that tried to disprove her theory on the existence of aliens. there was also this pesky rumor going around school that she was a part of a cult ??? please, she wished she could be involved with something as exciting as a cult. the truth is that her reality was incredibly boring, save for the adventures she took herself on hoping to prove her conspiracies to be true     * all of this is to say that her peers made a point to steer clear of her. so she found it hard to maintain friendships with people her own age and felt incredibly isolated from the “normal” kids. faking it just to try & fit in never worked out for her. she always ended up slipping up by saying something “weird”. so naturally she became very withdrawn. it was easier to not say anything to avoid judgement than to be open with everyone she met.     * the only time mack felt free of the burden of boredom & isolation was when she was with her grandparents. her stays with them in the summer began when she was just a baby - her mom needed an extra hand with taking care of mack, so she’d go stay with her parents for a few weeks at a time. then when mack got old enough to go by herself ( also known as when her mom got married & wanted alone time with her husband ) she’d be shipped off to woodstock while school was out.     * mack’s grandparents are the people who indulge her the most because they’re just as unusual as she is. they’re known in woodstock for being a kooky couple. gary is a 60 something year old goth & her grandmother is actually a self proclaimed psychic who dresses like miss frizzle from the magic school bus. they’re absolute legends.      * mack still struggled with making friends her age in woodstock though, especially as a kid. she had a fear of putting herself out there only to be rejected & mocked so she simply kept to herself summer after summer. her annual appearance in the small town was probably noticed by some though, especially locals who frequently visit the forester’s shop - they’d notice the young girl behind the counter with her head in a book & an unbothered expression on her face.     * she never quite felt at home in louisiana. there was only one place in the world where she could picture herself being genuinely content with life & that was in this little town in illinois 52 miles outside of chicago.     * so while most people are rushing to get out of woodstock, mack is itching to be an accepted member of the community. she’s decided to make her normal 3 month stay into a forever stay. it’s pretty good timing too considering her grandpa’s health is declining - although he’s in denial about it.      * mack didn’t want to be some freeloader with her grandparents, they’re already letting her stay in the attic/loft space in their house free of charge. she didn’t want to make them pay her for working at their shop when she’d happily volunteer for free. so she decided to look for employment elsewhere & where better than high volume? the energy she felt the first time she walked into the store was indescribable. she just knew she wanted in on whatever was going down there.     * one year later & she can’t say she’s mad at her decision. in fact, working at high volume is bringing out the best in her slowly but surely. the store has truly acted like her safe haven & it would be a damn shame if she were to lose that now that jerry’s gone AWOL ...

* 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 :

   * sorta stand-offish but she’s trying, bless her heart. she really wants to come off as cool & approachable but her automatic defense is to be distant unless spoken to first. & even then she’s wary of people’s intentions due to bad experiences in the past, so she holds parts of herself back until she’s absolutely certain the other person can be trusted. does not trust easily.     * curious by nature & a sucker for a good mystery. so she’s super intrigued by jerry being missing. like yeah okay it’s normal for him to be gone for a few days without notice but hear her out - what if the russian mob got him? or he got abducted by aliens? or he ran off to mexico to change his identity & start a new life? or corporate america sent spies to kidnap him so they could finally buy out the store?     * easily excited about the things she likes. she can truly go off on one about her passions, which may be surprising to some people who only know her to be quiet - like to the point where she sorta just pops up places & it scares the shit out of you because she moves like a ninja.     * never mean for the sake of being mean but she has a fighting spirit in her that can be ignited by very simple things. like ignorance & bullying - she can’t stand either. unless you’ve triggered her asshole radar, she’ll treat you with polite indifference.     * she is considerably spontaneous though & does not flinch at the prospect of danger. if anything, she’s a thrill seeker who wants to discover new & interesting things.

frenemy -- with this i was thinking something along the lines of they’re only friends inside the store but once they’re clocked out they act like they don’t even know each other for whatever reason. idk could be an interesting dynamic to play around with

ex fling -- a summer romance that never could’ve made it through the fall. it was nice while it lasted but it wasn’t meant to be a forever thing. they probably both knew that. but it might be awkward if they were under the impression that they wouldn’t be seeing mack again for awhile & then all of the sudden she moved to woodstock permanently

family invested everything into older sister so she could go to college in new york: savings, loans, moved to smaller house which is even further from the town centre

her grades have always been average so no one expects her to leave – her parents talk about how nice it is that she’ll be with them forever but she knows that’s because they want her to take care of them when they’re old … which she would! if they didn’t live in woodstock

she tells them she’s going to move to california, but they think she’s as serious about that as she is about wanting to go to college, or becoming supermodel of the world, or an olympic swimmer, when she has average grades, of average height, and can’t even swim

if her life was a movie, she’d have fallen asleep in the first ten minutes – it has always been so boring and uneventful, so she lives up in her head with her fake scenarios to keep things interesting – most of the time, they’re taken straight from a book or magazine

sometimes these thoughts spill over into reality because she can’t fathom the idea of people realising she’s as plain as she is, and her little white lies give her a bit of sparkle to stand out (in her opinion)

but she will get to california!

she even has a plan:

she’s been working at freddy’s diner since she was fifteen, escaping to high volume whenever she can, a place where she can pop her headphones on during her breaks and pretend she’s getting ogled at on venice beach, but she’s terrible at saving so seven years later she’s still grinding

once she graduates high school, she has enough time for a second job and she’d dropped enough hints in front of jerry for him to kindly offer her a job. after all, she spends as much time in high volume as she does at freddy’s so there’s not much of a difference once she becomes an employee -- still floating around the place, sipping on her coke can, either people watching or people chasing -- except now she has access to the register

after a big argument with her parents, she ended up moving out into a place in the middle of town. that was never part of the plan because saving was easier when she lived at home. she’ll say things got really bad but really, she was just getting closer to her target and she wanted a valid reason to put it off for a bit longer

she was only supposed to do it once – stealing from the cash register. it was just right there, no one was around, and she thought it was going to be her last shift because jerry was angry at her for being late again (granted, he hadn’t actually been mad, but it was one of those days when everything felt personal)

besides, she’d overheard a group of girls she’d idolised in school talk about how they stole some underwear and they made it sound so cool

she felt like everyone could hear her heart thumping against her chest as she walked out of the store but the day after, no one said anything about it, no one even noticed, and she wasn’t fired. so she did it again, and again, and again, and eventually she didn’t even bat an eyelid

the extra money was supposed to help her reach her goal faster but, again, she’s terrible at saving and her parents are so hardworking, she can’t help but feel guilty and buy nice things for them every once in a while and when they ask where she got the money from, she lies and says jerry gave her a bonus for being a good employee

on the other hand, if they’ve had an argument, or they’ve forgotten about her again, she’ll have a full on les-mis-i-dreamed-a-dream episode then splurge out on a cute jacket because it’s hers and it’s new! rather than worn out hand-me-downs from her sister or brother!

started her own side hustle called the separation agency – inspired after a customer at high volume asked her to help him break up with his boyfriend. so she’s the messenger for people who have things to say but don’t have the balls to say it to someone’s face themselves. usually they’re horrible messages, like break ups. she’s had like three customers and tries to promote her side hustle whilst on her shift at high volume

she thinks her “business” could actually thrive in a bigger city which is just another reason why she needs to get out of woodstock – it’s holding her back!

hi everyone !! phew i’m so hype to be here... hello... you can call me wren ! i’m in the est timezone and use she/her pronouns. a lil bit about me: i love making playlists and my silly little lattes every morning, i have two puppies at home that i love more than anything, and i’m currently watching ted lasso and falling in l*ve with jason sudeikis and no i do not think i named teddy after ted lasso but it might’ve been an unconscious thing idk

anyway, i’m going to try not to ramble too much about my boi teddy but you’ve been warned:

sweet boy theodore ! he mostly goes by teddy. i don’t think he minds being called theodore but he DOES hate the nickname ted. sorry to mr. sudeikis

he was born and raised in chicago but his father is from woodstock. he has some distant family here but growing up, it was teddy, his mom, dad, and older brother mccartney ( mick !! )

( alcoholism, hoarding disorder tw ) teddy’s older brother was like a refuge for him in a household that was pretty tough to live in. his mother is an extreme hoarder so teddy felt pretty trapped in his own home. on top of that, his father is a functioning alcoholic who had a tendency to pick fights when really wasted. ( end tw )

teddy shared a room with mick, so that was like their little escape from it all ! but mick left for college because he’s a Smart, Good Boy when teddy was fifteen ! so he took it super hard to be living alone in this environment

( depression tw ) naturally, at that age ( and with evident mental health issues running in the family ), teddy started to show signs of depression. in an attempt to alleviate that, his fam fulfilled a lifelong dream and adopted a lil border collie pup ! ( end tw )

he realized his home wasn’t suitable for him, his mental health, or his dog winnie. he saved up money by working odd jobs throughout high school and on his eighteenth birthday, he and his pup moved to woodstock.

his dog winnie is named after his celebrity crush, winona ryder ! he absolutely carries a polaroid photo of her in his wallet because truly that is his child and god bless you if you even mention dogs around him

he got the job at high volume four years ago so he’s been around for a bit ! jerry was actually really good friends with teddy’s father, so he’s known jerry pretty much his entire life. 

( drug use and alcoholism tw ) teddy has a chronic intestinal disease that basically attacks his immune system and can be preeeetty painful ! it’s manageable ofc and although teddy would say: “kurt cobain had it too so it’s fine,” it still Sucks to deal with. he is on medication for it, though another prescription works wonders for pain too...... and that ‘prescription’ is just Weed. he smokes a lot lol and also likes to drink, both as a source of self-medication and just because ! ( end tw )

( violence and ptsd tw ) oh haha also he saw jerry get shot in an alley but i imagine he is currently going through the many phases of ptsd at this moment. very much trying to keep it together but in reality, he’s a ball of pure anxiety and could crack at any given moment. definitely going through some bouts of denial and doubt ? jerry is not only his boss but he’s a family friend and someone he kind of looked up to, so it’s safe to say he’s not Doing Well ( end tw )

ok now more about his CHARACTER:

teddy is a sweetheart. he’s got golden retriever tendencies, i’d say ! verrrry sociable, loves to be around people.

he’s pretty independent and self-sufficient for someone who makes dumb decisions and doesn’t vibe with being alone  ! he has learned to look out for himself but at the same time, he’s one of those people that make you wonder how he got this far ??

overall, a pretty great friend to have. he’s a man of his word and basically likes to make people around him feel comfortable and happy ! 

kinda charming, an accidental flirt at times. like i don’t think he realizes when he’s flirting ? he’s a little oblivious and definitely does better with people who are direct with him. like if you’re dropping hints that you like him or need him to do something, he won’t pick up on it at all lol the boy is stuck in his own little world that has karma police playing on a constant loop

walking into a shift with him means you’ll either be: entertained, annoyed, distracted, or high lol

blair was an accident. when lila and geoff were 48 and 52 respectively, they’d figured they were all dried up and done. they had three kids that they’d just about put through college and they figured the next children in their lives would be…grandchildren. until lila discovered that she was pregnant with blair – a miracle ! but not exactly part of their perfect plan, no.

so, blair was not born into a traditional home. lila and geoff’s parenting style was…absent, to say the least. they knew not to panic over much, they didn’t hover, and blair pretty much had free reign. despite having three siblings, they were older and moved out, so…blair’s earliest years were rather lonely. she spent a lot of time making up games for herself, coming up with her own things to do.

blair was a liar, but a good one. on the playground, she would often spin wild tales about herself and her family, how she was a lost princess, the way she’d been possessed by a demon last week, or the ghost that lived in her attic. they were mostly harmless lies, but often times, kids had trouble differentiating what was true and what was false about blair. sometimes, blair did too.

blair always had a lot of different hobbies to keep herself busy, and she has a lot of strange talents. she can probably solve a rubix cube faster than anyone you know, she’s great at knitting, and has a real way with watercolors. she gets in her head that she wants to learn something and becomes obsessed with it for a while. when she feels like she’s mastered it, she becomes bored and drops it, so she’s good at a lot of things but not GREAT.

blair had her first cigarette when she was eleven, and she started smoking pot soon after. it was only up from there as the years went on and she started experimenting with coke and psychedelics, really for the adventure of it all. the buzz kills the boredom, and when she goes out, she knows how to be the life of the party. most people regard her as a bit weird, but in an oddly charming way, and she knows how to work that to her advantage.

that said, she’s an absolute hazard. lack of friends meant lack of people to look after her when she got out of control.

when she was eighteen, she packed up her things and moved to LA. she had it in her mind – she was going to be an actress. it was her latest obsession, at least, and it sounded like the perfect adventure. blair’s genuinely talented, but also has a knack for falling in with seedy people. when she was there, she met a man who offered to get her in on a pilot – he said he could make her a star. you know how these things go. it was a literal trip infused with sex, drugs, and booze, slumming it in this older man’s apartment with…a few other girls, too. whatever shitty pilot they pulled together was never picked up.

it was the night that things went too far that sent her packing. fucked out of her mind, one of the girls she lived with was was convulsing on the floor, in need of medical attention. she nearly died, and blair was the one who got her to the hospital. blair was the only one there for this girl in the waiting room, and she hardly knew her. she realized that would be her if the tables were turned – she had NO ONE, and she missed woodstock. she missed having people. 

not much scares blair, but it was an awakening that sent her packing for home for the time being, spinning elaborate tails of how amazing it was in hollywood and the great show they’d been filming – and how all of those old hollywood men were just not clever enough to understand the avant garde concepts of the show.

blair has been back in woodstock for almost a year now, but she only recently started back at high volume. maybe with some slight ambition of getting out of her parent’s house.

she says she’ll go back someday but deep down she knows she’s not going anywhere. she smokes a joint by the dumpsters on her break, and spends weeks on her latest obsession. right now, it’s gardening. blair says she’s fine being alone, but the primary motivation for a lot of her mistakes is wanting acceptance, approval, and wanting to fit in.

personality.

VIVACIOUS. to put it simply, an interaction with blair can be pretty memorable – she’s animated in her speech, full of life and excitement for what she’s passionate about, although equally annoyed and quick to anger when something bothers her. essentially, she puts all of herself into whatever the flavor of the moment is, but she’s high-spirited and definitely has the kind of stature that commands attention in a room. 

IMPETUOUS. impulsive to a fault, blair has been known to act quickly without care. she’s headstrong and moves quick, a torrential person who isn’t afraid to march to the beat of her own drum whenever it suits her. this sort of heedless and reckless behavior has been known to get her into some trouble or even lead to some REGRETS, but blair will never change because she’d rather make a few mistakes than allow herself to be left wondering. 

EASILY BORED/DISSATISFIED. blair’s attention is fickle as all hell, always jumping from one thing to the next. she might change conversation topics quickly, she goes through hobbies like outfits, and will lose interest if something doesn’t challenge her. it almost seems like she’s constantly looking for the next thing, which is a cruel irony for a girl who’s just found herself back where she started. 

ADVENTUROUS. always up for a good time, you can trust blair to be open to trying anything at least once. and even then, she’ll try a failed plan again just to make sure it really doesn’t work. blair is open-minded, down for new ideas and experiences, and she’ll try to convince you to join her. i think it would be easy to describe her as BOLD. 

DISHONEST. see, if you do something with blair, don’t be surprised if the story she tells afterward doesn’t exactly match up with what happened. blair will embellish on the details of her life with a certain amount of creative freedom. mostly, the way blair lies is pretty harmless, she’s just trying to make her life seem more exciting or better to herself, but it can really rub people the wrong way. 

FUN-LOVING. for all the...deterimental aspects of hanging out with blair, it’s hard to deny that there’s a certain charm about hanging out with someone who just wants to have a good time and wants you to have fun, too. you could probably get the sense that something exciting is going to happen when blair is around, and that’s partially because she invites it or even causes it. 

headcanons.

has really old-fashioned taste in things because of her parents and older siblings. so, her likes are more from like the 40s-60s in terms of music and films.

favorite movie is vertigo. 

still lives at home. she keeps saying she’s going to move out, but she keeps blowing her paychecks on drugs and other stupid shit. she’s super impulsive and if she sees something she likes, she’s going to buy it immediately.

still thinks about being an actress, and would still like to do it. one of her better party tricks is doing impressions ? she can do lots of different voices and impersonate celebrities. she is good at getting in character.

any time she’s where nobody knows her, she will always pretend to be someone else. at a club, at a party, or even sometimes to random customers that come into the store. she’ll give herself a random name and a personality. she loves to do accents.

never got very good grades in school, barely skated by graduating, i feel like she got held back a year at a young age like when reading starts to be a thing. she has dyslexia, but it wasn’t diagnosed until she was in the fourth or fifth grade because no one was really…paying attention. they just thought she was too hyperactive to be able to focus on reading.

got into mixology for a bit so she can make a damn good drink. however, she loves to mix all sorts of things and make up her own drinks as well. those are…hit or miss.

loves to dance ! put any music on and she will be dancing around the store.

not very good at small talk and hey how are yas. essentially, she lacks tact and will jump right into whatever she wants to talk to you about. and if she doesn’t want to talk to you…she won’t. very blunt.

ain’t  that  much  to  say  about  max’s  childhood  really.  she  was  a  simple  kid,  grateful  and  kind,  and  this  is  something  she’s  held  onto.  she’s  the  most  loyal  friend  you’ll  ever  have.

she’s  never  been  good  in  school,  though  her  mom  has  always  tried  to  push  her  to  be  better  at  everything.  max  has  tried  cheerleading,  track,  chess  club,  but  just  never  excelled  at  anything  and  always  hated  (  still  hates  )  how  stupid  her  mom  makes  her  feel  sometimes.  she  loves  her  mom,  and  she’s  never  had  a  single  complaint  about  her  childhood,  but  it  sometimes  does  feel  like  she’s  still  earning  her  mother’s  love.  her  father,  on  the  other  hand,  loved  her  completely  unconditionally.

whilst  she  got  mostly  c’s  and  d’s,  her  father  always  liked  to  say  that  max  had  an  a  in  attitude,  an  a  in  heart,  and  an  a  in  soul.  part  of  that  died  with  him  though.

as  high  school  started  to  come  to  an  end,  max  started  getting  worried  about  falling  behind,  her  friends  moving  along  without  her.  things  had  always  been  good,  yet  never  perfect,  and  she’d  always  been  just  enough,  not  more  than.  maybe  she  started  holding  on  to  hard,  especially  to  christian  and  reyna,  obsessed  with  the  idea  of  life  being  good  forever,  even  if  it  meant  stagnation.  of  course,  max  never  meant  anything  by  it,  always  a  little  overbearing  and  desperate  to  be  loved.

last  year  that  all  ended,  and  as  max  and  her  parents  were  coming  home  from  a  vacation,  the  girl  had  been  asleep  in  the  backseat.  it  all  happened  so  fast.  suddenly  she  was  upside  down,  desperately  trying  to  unbuckle  herself,  crawling  over  her  parents’  bodies  to  get  out,  her  mother  merely  unconscious.  she  hadn’t  known  then,  she  had  been  asleep  in  the  backseat,  things  had  been  good.  and  then  they  weren’t.  the  ambulance  came  and  her  mother  woke,  but  her  father  never  did.

for  a  while  even  max  couldn’t  pretend.  she  distanced  herself,  didn’t  pick  up  the  landline  when  it  rang,  didn’t  open  the  door  when  she  so  clearly  could  hear  her  name  being  called  outside.  took  a  leave  from  work.  she  wanted  someone  to  hug  her  so  tightly  she  could  not  breathe,  but  would  not  let  anyone  close  enough.

then  she  started  seeing  a  silver  lining  again,  returned  to  work,  tried  to  smile  even  —  and  then  she  found  out  christian  and  reyna  had  slept  together.  a  smile  hasn’t  felt  half  real  since  then.

max  is  ..  sad,  there’s  no  other  way  to  put  it.  never  having  been  subjected  to  any  of  these  feelings  before,  not  like  this  at  least,  and  she’s  constantly  feeling  overwhelmed  and  emotional  because  of  it.  she’s  determined  to  not  let  it  show  though  so  catch  her  drying  her  tears  the  second  someone  enters  a  room  she’s  in.  her  smile  is  so  horribly  fake  it’s  kinda  embarrassing.

she  will  still  die  for  her  friends  in  a  heartbeat,  and  if  anyone  needs  her  assistance  with  anything  at  all  she’ll  be  the  first  to  volunteer  —  especially  now,  to  get  her  mind  on  other  things.

honestly, per the skeleton, there’s very little to say about kennedy’s life. she’s woodstock through and through so her existence is honestly very cookie cutter. her parents were nice, and her siblings ( charlie & fiona ) were nice, and she didn’t have a ton of friends but the ones she had were nice like it’s a whole long list of fine

for whatever reason, kennedy’s never really been content with that. as a middle kid, she was overlooked a lot so she learned how to entertain herself and that was primarily through literature so it became this rory gilmore deal where she was reading such compelling and interesting stories about people in other places that she couldn’t help but want the same thing so she’s honestly been wanting out of woodstock since like. probably middle school

in her senior year of high school, her brother was diagnosed with cancer. he was in college in california playing football, but obviously after this he moves back home so they can seek treatment.

kennedy, who was accepted into her dream college in boston by some miracle ( average grades and extracurriculars that she definitely inflated to sound better on paper ), defers her enrollment by a year to stay home and be with her family

it is a brutal year-long battle, and, unfortunately, charlie doesn’t win. they bury him just after the holidays.

this is devastating to kennedy in a lot of ways, charlie was one of her best friends and one of the few people who knew how badly she wanted to get out of woodstock and has always been one of her biggest supporters. but, more selfishly, paying for charlie’s treatments for a whole year drains the quinns’ financials and even though her spot is still open at her university, she just can’t afford to go

on jerry’s disappearance. at first jerry going missing is great for kennedy because she can take a little more money than she usually does and can go to work as late as she wants, but now, she is a tiny bit worried. i will say though that, as worried as she is, she probably isn’t as invested as some of the other characters? like mostly, she is worried about her job because she doesn’t really want to work anywhere else because nowhere else will she have a boss as chill as jerry, but at the end of the day, this is still very much a job to her. she can be very easily convinced into staying around, but i think that if high volume is a crew trying to go down with its ship, she’s definitely the one looking over the side like, fr? like maybe we can make it if we swim

from lindsay weir.  i think lindsay embodies kennedy’s aimlessness? like i havent watched the show in a while so bear with me but i get the sense that lindsay sort of just. stops being motivated to do well in school because she realizes that she wants to do something else or even just wants to enjoy her life. i feel like kennedy kind of went through the same thing? she had all these big dreams about going to college and making something of herself and like she didn’t necessarily choose it, but like even when she has the opportunity to do something even slightly similar she pivots and does something else entirely.

optimistic isn’t the first word that people would use to describe kennedy. it’s not like she looks through life with rose-colored glasses. it’s more like, kennedy believes there’s this version of another life she could have and that’s essentially what she’s working towards. she romanticizes things that she doesn’t know because she’s only ever been able to read about them.

strong middle kid energy, she’s used to slipping through the cracks in her family and in her life in general like definitely the kid who was “a pleasure to have in class” like she’s very annoying and pretentious but it’s not obvious unless you get to know her better. in all other senses of the word, kennedy has just sort of always been… there but she prefers it that way? she likes no one having expectations of her because she feels like it allows her more freedom

kennedy is one of those people who is annoyed by almost everything and complains perpetually about everything in her life including her friends and family etc, but as soon as you say something mean about them she’s like shut the fuck up. very strong “only EYE can say that about them because i love them even if i dont show it”
